We got to 400 comments pretty quickly this week! It's good to have LOST back isn't it? When things slow down here, be the first to comment on the new post up at storiesofthelost.com.

First next to admin?

Dennis, I'm logged in in google, but not with gmail.

Thanks, Admin!

I'm logged in with google. It takes forever for the first post of the day. And I still have WV! :(

Yeah. Blogger just re-worked their whole system. It runs pretty much the same way but people like us are really going to notice the subtle differences/bugs.

If something really bothers us, we should email the Blogger people.

Yea! New post!

Wow, so many good comments/discussions.

I'm logged in with google also but still have to do the wv twice...

OK, watching it again and noticed this the second time around:

When Kate & Sawyer make it to the beach and he's getting all sarcarstic about towels and brunch and call for directions, Kate calls Jack who is in the OR with just Tom (and Ben) and says they need a way off the island. He yells at Tom to tell him and just when he's getting back to Kate (I assume with some info about how to get to their island) up comes Picket and shoots the walkie talkie right out of Kate's hand. My point is: so, can we now assume that Jack knows of a way off the island, but didn't have a chance to tell Kate? Tom could have told him about tunnels or boats and where they were.

Dennis said...

I think at that point, Tom wasn't helping Jack yet.

IB4UC, That's weird, because it doesn't ask me for WV at all. I did "convert" my old blogger account into my gmail account.

memphish said...

Well, codysmom, we just don't know do we? I noticed Sawyer mentioned a tunnel to Alex. I figured that was a shoutout to all the conspiracy theorists out here on the world wide web.

Black Swan said...

I don't know, dennis. Jack still had leverage with Ben at that point.

Unknown said...

hahahahaha.

LORNE GREEN!!

hahaha

Unknown said...

codysmom: not really. juliet made sure it was known that jack would NOT kill ben, as it's not in his "nature" as a man or as a doctor before she left.

memphish, I liked the underdog nickname sawyer gave Alex, that was classic sawyer.

So let's talk about who's been on the island and since when. Apparently Juliet and Ethan came to the island in late summer 2001. Also, one of the Others is a barber as evidenced by the much improved though still not great hair of Season 1 Ethan, and the much improved hair of Juliet. Those Dharma products must include a great hair staightener because the humidity on island would have to be pretty close to Miami wouldn't you think.

What about Tom and Pickett? I think they may both be leftovers from Dharma and the DeGroots, but maybe like Ben they've always lived there. That's why "It's our island," as Tom says in The Hunting Party.

And what about all these young others who are really bad at guarding prisoners? Where did they come from? You wouldn't want to put on eyeliner to recruit Aldo to be an ineffective hatch guard would you Mr. Alpert?

What about Colleen?

memphish said...

Chucklez3,
I looked for Lorne with the Alpo, but couldn't find it. If anyone finds such a shot, let me know. Dog years! Did we mention Dog Years?

Scoutpost said...

Whew, it's hard to keep up when you get behind!
1st- Memphish- loved the Lorne Greene comment! Nice avatar!
2nd- I like what Diggity had to say last night. I agree with most of his observations.
3rd- Dennis I like the parthenogenesis comment...you could really be onto something there.
4th- There has been enough reference to time/time bending stuff that I think we can know for certain that time on the island is not all that it seems...I won't say any more on that because I think I might violate spoiler rules.
5th- Interesting re: Rachel. We all assumed she had cancer, but maybe not...hmmm.
Anyone else curious about why they chose the name Rachel to be Juliet's sister's name? Is this a shout out to TLE or is there some connection there?

diggity....that's what we call "sarcasm" the "giggity" thing. it's a family guy reference (quagmire).

and yeah. considering some of your statemnts don't hold water.

Chuck,

Not trying to make this personal. My statement was meant to be sacrcastic as well. I don't watch Fam Guy. I gues neither of us come accross that way when we type :)

Anyway we'll see how the web site plays out. I just remember a lot of people being into the Dharma fake site, widmore fake site, and paik fake site, so cll me skeptical when we don't hear it from a show official. But that's the beauty of this forum. People who can make strong arguguments and go back and forth on the issue.

Also, on the coming and going freely thing, then tell me how Juliett, and Ethan got on the island if the others don't control their ability to leave or come back. It seems they have a pretty clear transportation method and if they are allowed to by the leaders, they can come and go. Why else would Ben keep promising to send people home?

Anyway keep in mind they are just my observations not gospel. The reason I post them to get other peoples feedback :)

In that case, I would like to get my hands on some of that Dharma hair straightener!

And now it took my wv the first time. Could it be that I just can't type well? :)

Scoutpost said...

No ib4uc- I had the same thought but I know I was typing those in correctly. I think that the wv times out- so if you type a long comment the wv at the bottom expires and you have to type another one. I've noticed when I comment with a one liner or so that mine usually goes in the first time.

diggity: it's like a roach motel: "they check in, but they don't check out".

period.

people can be brought there, but no one is allowed to leave (those that work there or otherwise), without Mittelwerk's permission, that is.

so no. Ben can't even go. We've heard NOTHING about people "leaving", just those who arrived there.

empty promises, my friend.

oh and their transportation.....pffft......wouldn't last 3 days at sea. weather and waves aside, gas wouldn't get them far enough.

Plus, with the electro-magnetism, the compass would be useless.

no one's going anywhere.

memphish said...

There's a video recap up on DarkUFO's site. I don't know if it is the AMEX one or not, but it's fun to watch.

Jack and Juliet argue like siblings in front of Daddy Tom before Tom kicks Juliet out of the OR the first time.

I so wish Kate had shot that guy in the knee.

The tears Juliet musters up when she tells Jack what Ben said makes me rethink whether or not they might not make the perfect couple. Too bad Ethan's dead since he has the tissues.

Happy Lost hangover LoCos! Great thoughts and observations.

Dennis, parthenogenesis, yes!!!!!! I hope that by the end, TPTB will have woven most/all of the TLE science into the show. Star Trek was never afraid to get sciencey, we can handle it.

Chucklez, I wasn't trying to educate anyone, just running off on a thought like we do here.

Maven, you beat me to checking out the page he was reading! Good going, very pertinent I would think. As for existing in black holes, theoritically you can't travel into one, because the intense gravity would stretch you out and rip you apart. But as far as "popping" in and out of one via some sort of Trekky transport and avoiding the stretch....don't know, haven't heard or read yet. But then there's wormhole slingshots and curved space shortcuts from point A to B. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Memphish, I always wanted to live on the Ponderosa.

Kate and Juliet...the new Thelma and Louise.

memphish said...

Scoutpost, Sawyer has already called Kate Thelma back in Maternity Leave I think. Good one.

Unknown said...

worm hole and black hole are two different entities.

black hole = nothingness. nothing escapes.

plus, black holes hold more truth than worm holes. worm holes are more on the science FICTION side of the fence, as opposed to black holes.

Dennis,
I use the Blogger account.

Diggity,
I strongly agree with your reasoning in the other post about why the Mittelos site probably is fake, and I likee your comments about the show (except I don't believe that Rousseau is an Other).

Memphish,
I'm not sure if we can conclude that Ethan was brought to the island at the same time as Juliet. But it's hard to speculate who's been there a long time and who has been recruited relatively recently. We do know of least one other person who was recruited: Kelvin.

Dennis said...

scoutpost said... I think that the wv times out- so if you type a long comment the wv at the bottom expires and you have to type another one. I've noticed when I comment with a one liner or so that mine usually goes in the first time.

Yes. I think you're right. That used to happen to me all the time. I wouldn't even bother typing it in right the first time. I would just type in something random because I knew I would have to type it in again.

memphish said...

Blueheron13 said:We do know of least one other person who was recruited: Kelvin Good memory. But Kelvin was recruited by Dharma he said. Good luck and Namaste like the film. And don't forget Kelvin's refernce to the Hostiles.

Oh, this leads me down a new path. Alex and Karl are Juliet and Romeo basically, so Ben's group is the Capulets represented by Mittelos and Kelvin and Dharma are the Montagues?

I think the timing out on the wv is probably right.

memphish said...

I mentioned this last night, but...

One of the images they showed Karl was a yellow flower, with the words:

Fits in nicely with the whole fertility theme. Maybe Alex is pregnant and that's why she wanted to find Karl?

DiggityDirge said...

chucklez3-

Keep in mind we know they have a sub (the hydra) a ferry (the paella ferry) and unlimited resources. I'm not talking about the sailboat Sawyer and Kate were in, or the boat Michael & Walt left in.

We won't know what happened in the Michael and Walt saga until season 4 according to TPTB, but for now they are off the island as far as I am concerned.

I don't necessarily disagree with you about Ben's promises being empty, but even Tom eluded that before the sky went purple they could have arranged to get Ben to a facility. Maybe Ben chose not to leave since he is the defector leader that we know of at this point. I really wish Tom would have finished that sentence!

I definitely am in the camp that the others have contact with the outside world. The techno music also seemed really modern to me, but I'm not tech no fan and could be off base.

ib4uc said...

Makes perfect sense with the wv timing out.

blueheron13 said...

Dennis,
Thanks for the tip.

Memphish,
Are you thinking that Dharma and The Others are separate entities, both with access to the island, and that Dharma recruited Kelvin but The Others recruited Juliet?

DiggityDirge said...

someone please correct me if I am wrong. I thought the point of TLE was to tell a back story about Dharma and the HF that they were never going to have to time to bring into the show? I don't think we will ever see or hear about Mittelwrk or his cornies for TLE?

Scoutpost said...

Where do you think Alex got that boat? It would seem that if it came to the island somehow, which opens a whole other can of worms, that the Others would know it was missing. do you think she may have built it herself?

NobleLawyer said...

o.k. So, I still believe that Alex is Rouseaus's daughter. Alex was stolen from Rouseau when she was still just a baby. So Ben stole her and rasied her as his own. Ben is her "adopted" a.k.a. sick kidnapper father.
We know they have a problem procreating on the island which is why Juliet was brought on board. Maybe she eventually was successful.
Regardin the Mittelos site, I don't seem to be able to get into anymore, so I suspect maybe it is fake (although I was hoping it was "real")
Great episode.

Capcom said...

Yes, Chucklez, they are two different things, but the book is not only about black holes. And since what we know about black holes in reality can fit on the head of a pin, we don't know if there's another way of getting in and out. e.g, teleportation. But a black hole is not nothingness, it's an exTREMEly dense mass. We don't know yet if the DI has utilized the properties of black holes, wormholes, or Criss Angel to get into and hide the island. :o) Wormholes are very much talked about in scientific theory, not just scifi, as is the bending of space and time. But this show isn't science fact, it's got scifi elements so we should be open to anyone's ideas. The TPTB could even write string theory into the show....i.e., multiple dimensions! Nah.

Thoughts on people never ever leaving the island: so far, we have been **led to believe** that Walt and Mike have left the area. We have also have been **allowed to assume** that a supply drop vehicle has come in and gone away, and that a ferry will supposedly take the Pearl peeps away after their job is done (personally, I think that was a lie). Perhaps the DI peeps, original or not, cannot leave for similar reasons to the book Lost Horizon. If they do leave they will shrivle up and become their original age, or will regain their illnesses, etc., as we have speculated before. So are we assuming that no one can ever leave? Not that Ben never lied before. :o)

I bet that Ben said to Juliet, "You can leave over my dead body.", and she replied, "Bring it on!"

blueheron13 said...

Capcom,

I've been assuming that the Pearl folks ferried to the barracks at the Hydra Station. But I have nothing to back that up.

DiggityDirge said...

scoutpost-

I would agree Alex built that boat. I recall her telling Kate that she was not supposed to be there in their discussion in the rock quarry/work area. I thnk Danny also said that to her when she confronted him about Carl. She had to get there without anyone knowing.

I also thought it was interesting that she had built hiding places that no one knew about. Pickett was standing right on top of them and had no clue they were in there. I figured that meant he did not know the whole was there.

I guess I saw a small parallel between Alex and Ben. Alex was willing to help as long as Kate and Sawyer helped her, much like Ben promises to help people if they help him.

However, I beleive Alex is sincere and Ben is a liar.

blueheron13 said...

Scoutpost,

I think Alex made the boat herself. She appears to have become adept at sneaking around.

I think Alex could've built the boat she had been digging hiding places on the island. Or someone else could've built it and she's just taking it. They had taken her with them when they grabbed Michael and Kate.

I wonder if Rachel changed her mind on moving in with Juliet or if she was just visiting? Because that was a different apartment than the one she was in at the begining.
Hey so far it's taken me 3 wv's

Blueheron asked:Are you thinking that Dharma and The Others are separate entities, both with access to the island, and that Dharma recruited Kelvin but The Others recruited Juliet? That is exactly what I am thinking. I do not think that Kelvin and Ben are on the same team.

Scoutpost asked about Alex's boat. I think Alex built it to earn a merit badge for that spiffy safari jacket she's been sporting. She also has a digging badge and slingshot badge. And I wish she'd teach Sawyer to aim. That guy is a rotten shot.

Capcom said:Re: Alex's hide holes...the apple doesn't fall far from the genetic Mommy-tree! Great observation. That was a lot like the place Danielle took Sayid way back in Season 1 though much more cozy for hanging with your boyfriend.

Friday's_Child said...

Hi, guys! I’m reading as fast as I can to catch up on the comments made after I went to bed last night.

I like diggitydirge’s lengthy postings; they cause me to focus. One thing that needs puzzling out is why a 26-yr-old woman would have a 70-yr-old-ish womb? In referring back to Mittelwerk’s obsession with Nazi experimentation and their studies in eugenics, I recall reading how the Nazi doctors performed many experiments on the reproductive organs of their Jewish captives, and how they were especially fascinated by twins.

I hereby posit these theories, leading to more questions:

1. Although not knowing for sure if the Mittelos site is ‘in-game’, and because of the creepy video sent to Juliet from Rachel at http://one.revver.com/watch/165062/flv/affiliate/62101 , wherein the voice mentions “experimentation on black people,” I’ll bet that the 26-yr-old is a black woman. Why would this be important? I don’t know.

2. Mittelos Bioscience has come across a woman who’s had the very life sucked out of her womb by…whom? And for whose benefit? Christine reminded us of “lost time” as the memory loss reported by so-called ‘alien abductees’. Is the 26-yr-old an abductee?

3. So, Rachel is pregnant. Not knowing what her illness is, and making the assumption that her scarf was covering a bald head caused by chemo treatment, why on earth would Juliet perform fertility treatments on a desperately ill woman? Is it to create a cloned baby from which stem cells can be harvested in order to cure Rachel’s illness? A cruel theory, I know, but it’s been done in real life.

Also, in reference to “God loves you as he loves Jacob”, and maybe you guys have already discussed this, but Jacob was a twin. When his mother gave birth to the two boys, Esau came out of the womb first, with Jacob right behind him, clutching Esau’s heel. The Bible also makes clear that God “hated” Esau, but “loved” Jacob. A subtle tie-in to the Others being “good”, and everyone else being “bad”?

I loved last night’s episode!! The game is on again!!

memphish said...

Friday's child, that's a good idea about the Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated. I'm willing to bet that's been used by any number of cults to build up its own superiority and convince its members to do bad things to the unloved.

Unknown said...

capcom: walt and michael were told to head toward a bearing. i'm guessing the THIRD island (which is a security island). they went nowhere.

and as far as that goes, who knows if they made it that far? electro-magnetic pulse woulda' sent the compass spinning.

memphish said...

But chucklez3 they didn't leave on that heading until the EMP was over. How long does the effect last?

Unknown said...

okay, here's the deal.

1. electro-magnetic pulse was "released", so no telling how long it would last.

2. outboard motor couldn't get them far. plus, how much gas was left in it?

3. the bearing (if readable) was to one of the other islands and probably a holding (prison-type) facility.

4. Why would Ben let Michael and Walt go? Makes absolutely ZERO sense.

Scoutpost said...

You know the whole Jacob/Esau conflict, like you said Friday, ties in with Bad Twin. Also, since we are speculating that there could be a Dharma group and a Mittelos group- perhaps Jacob is head of one and "Esau" the other. I think DL and CC have alluded that there are more than one group of others on the island.

There's a great summary post of the episode here on DarkUFOs blog. Best line so far:the last thing Ben needs is for Alex to find out she's got a filth-smeared mom living full-blown Rambo commando in the middle of the jungle just a boat-ride away.

Scoutpost said...

I wonder if eyepatch guy is going to be one of them ("Esau" or Jacob)?

Lisa said...

Jacob and Easu eventually reconciled, though the blessings of the "first born" still came to Jacob due to Jacob's deception of his father who conveyed the blessing. Jacob's mother also assisted in this deception. That's story that could be an interesting theory to develop- could go very deep!

engineer27 said...

No one seems to consider the possibility that Alex is the progeny of Danielle and Ben.

Rousseau has been known to bend the truth on occasion, too. She might have conveniently omitted her relationship with Ben from the account she gave Sayid.

RE: Alex's boat -- In "I do" Juliet indicates that Alex has been returned "home." If we assume that home for her was the village in "Tale of Two Cities," it would be on the Main island. So she had to get to the smaller island somehow.

memphish said...

Lisa, yes even though Jacob and Esau reconcile, they agree to live apart. Is that the real reason there is more than one island?

Friday's_Child said...

Did anyone else find it peculiar that when Juliet and Mr. Alpert were standing in front of the projected images of the 70-yr-old womb, that the image of the womb was projected DIRECTLY on Juliet's own womb??

That could not be a coincidence!

Also, Scoutpost, that was an excellent call: that "Esau" could be the eyepatch guy!!

Unknown said...

sweetscrapper: problem though. most privately owned subs can't operate without a mother ship. therefore, the batteries and generators they run own won't last.

(the military in me) was referring to naval subs, which are ALL nukes. sorry.

however, the largest privately owned sub isn't equipped for extreme depths, nor vast distances. again.......not seeing credence in this unless they're gonna' "fabricate" the means for the show.

i mean, this isn't austin powers, here.

anyone else notice contradictions in what producers say and what ends up being shown on the show? such as the smoke actually physically grabbing eko and banging him around? yeah, i'm thinking it's all a metaphor for his "decision" of facing his brother (death) face-to-face and ultimately his body perished from the wounds endured from the polar bear. i don't buy this crap that the smoke actually DID THAT.

re: theoretic time differences between the island and the rest of the world. Which would make it increasingly harder and harder to get off the island?

Many of us think the smoke is responsible for the figures/visions many people have.
(Kate's horse, jack's dad, Dave, and Yemi) Yemi/Ecko confrontation gave us the most ammo for this.

The smoke has the ability to read your thoughts, find you inner weakness, and determine how it chooses to use that information and for what purpose.

In this case, the smoke took Yemi's form to see if Ecko would repent for his life. The line was something to the effect of "You speak to me as if I am your brother." Ecko did not repent, and is not seen as a "good person" so old Smokey let him have it. I also think we have a name for Smokey but I don't recall what it was.

The producers have elaborated on that as recently as the article on ew yesterday and in the survivors guide last night when they talked about smokey killing the pilot.

I don't think I am a person with a lot of imagination, but one of the cool things I have always liked about lost is the mystery and mythological themes.

I am dying to see how the explain old Smokey when/if they finally do.

Ben didn't leave the island to have the tumor removed because he can't, is the theory I've read. And he Can't Leave because he has lived there his whole life, unlike Juliette or Ethan. Alex and Aaron were both born on the island and won't be able to leave either.

maybe everytime it gets pressed, another 108 minutes is subtracted from life through whatever means. is that what you're getting at (in a nutshell)??

Sort of- I was thinking that time was parallel at one time, but then Dharma changed something so that everytime the button DOESN'T get pressed time either slows down or speeds up (only one not both of these, just don't have an idea if the island is faster or slower than the outside world) on the island because of the effect the EM has on whatever is on the island. Is this explanation understandable at all- I feel like I'm rambling.

Unknown said...

i think smoke (and the "images" of past people, etc) are he harbinger of death, etc. and they lead you to CHOICES.

That's why Eko and Locke have encountered the smoke directly so many times and survived. they made the choices to keep themselves there in what i call "purgatory".

when you finally make a choice that leads you to either damnation or salvation, you're "released".

this would also help in relating the 9 stations and nine levels of hell in dante's inferno.

but i'm not going there, cuz that'll ruffle EVERYONE'S feathers.

but in a round-about way, i'm with you on this.

Unknown said...

i'd say the island is slower (if this holds water at all).

each time it's pressed, it slows time down more. when it's NOT pressed, it's like releasing a vacuum that sends time back to normal in a huge pulse and the "backwash" is the result of the plane being ripped apart, etc.

Unknown said...

hmmm..........okay, getting kinda' lonely in here. what happened to everyone??

Hey chucklesz3... I'm still here lurking. Trying to absorb all of this information and get the Lost part of my brain working again.

Scoutpost said...

Hey- had to go get some stuff done around the house. Here's another question that popped into my head-

In one of Locke's flashbacks his mother told him he was immaculately conceived. Now we know she was in a mental institution, but could there be truth to it? Could Locke have been asexually conceived perhaps like Rachel? Of course Locke is almost 50 or so, so how would this be explained... I don't know but it has intrigued me since his mother said it. I feel there is something to it.

Dennis said...

Well, the ratings weren't so hot last night. Let's hope they get better...

Here are the early numbers:

"American Idol's" final audition episode earned a 15.8/23 for FOX at 9 p.m. A new "Criminal Minds," 11.0/16, scored above its season average but didn't see a huge Super Bowl bounce. "Deal or No Deal," 6.4/9, kept NBC in third. A "Lost Survivor Guide" clip show scored a 5.6/8 for ABC. "One Tree Hill" closed the night for The CW.

At 10 p.m., "CSI: NY" posted a 10.2/16 for CBS, winning the hour in viewers over the return of ABC's "Lost," 8.5/14, which was well below its season average (but did win the hour in adults 18-49). NBC's "Medium" was third at 5.4/8.

Scoutpost said...

CSI:NY beat out LOST?! Who watches CSI:NY? I didn't even know they had a CSI:NY.

Gary Sinise is the star of CSI:NY. I've loved him ever since he played the leg amputee in 'Forrest Gump', where during that terrible storm, he climbed the mast of the shrimp boat and, cackling madly, shook his fist at God and screamed, "Is that all you've got?!"

Hey, I've been having trouble with the word verification not appearing too. What's up?

Chucklez3, what "voice"?

JGZ350 said...

Good afternoon Loco's-

Those are weak numbers for Lost. I thought for sure that Lost would be the number one show for that hour. I hope they do better next week. CSI-NY? I didn't even know that show existed. Yes I agree, CSI-Miami is weak.

Wow, there are some great takes here on last night's show. The whole discussion on black holes and time speeding up and slowing down is very interesting. I've been lurking most of the day, trying to get my brain wrapped around all these takes.

Great stuff over at darkufo's web page, espcially if you like spoilers. I recommend reading - Things I Noticed - "Not in Portland" on the home page of Darkufo, a very insightful take.

Wow, I finally get back on the blog and there's like 500 comments - OK so I skimmed a few :).

I feel really diconnected now that I can't access the blog at work :(

Although I have been hanging out on the Fuselage, I know it's not the same but the Mittlelos Lost Time anagram has certainly thrown up some interesting theories.

One I like, but am not 100% convinced on is that when the hatch went kabloom the Island was blown back into the past, say to 1944 and is stuck in an eternal loop from 1944 to 2004. This puts it out of phase with everywhere else. A lot of people have used this to rejuvinate the old Adam and Eve are Jack and Kate theory and also that Ben is a grown up Aaron!

Chuklez I like your theory that time runs slower. I certianly think that there is some time discreapancy and I think this maybe why the communication and transition between the outside world can only happen at certain times.

Aaah it's so good to be back :)

Interesting take on the eternal loop from 1944 to 2004 theory. Guess that would explain the music Hurley and Sayid heard when they were on the beach trying to pick up a signal. That scene was on the recap show last night.

dennis, cool Day Break reference.

I still haven't seen the last two episodes of Day Break, but will get them in before Monday. They are going to release another episode on Monday, right?

Scoutpost said...

Hey DA! Glad to see you on here. I like the time loop theory. I've actually had that one bouncing around in my brain since season 1 but never had to guts to admit it. What if time on the island is not linear, but like a spring and it loops around on itself. I also thought that the mysterious whispers could actually be actual voices that they occasionally come in contact with- like two dimensions sort colliding. Boy am I throwing all caution to the wind today. Ya'll are going to think I'm insane.

Scoutpost said...

Oh now I haven't seen Daybreak. You know that's the problem with my theories is that they seem to explain other shows (Daybreak, Heroes). Surely they all have unique storylines.

ib4uc said...

Not that this has anything to do with Lost, but I just read that Anna Nicole Smith passed away -- I'm shocked.

memphish said...

All right, I've rewatched and run carpool and here's the lastest rantings for a LOST-infested mind.

The detachment the Others have vis a vis the Losties is interesting. When discussing Jack, Kate and Sawyer among themselves they only last names. Kind of strange when they all only seem to have first names. I guess this goes to Ben's instruction "Not to get involved."

Ben tells Jack he's made a nice move that he, Ben "should have seen coming." Then he appeals to Jack for 3 minutes as one gentleman to another and it's Ben who suggests the amount of time. Ben is so creepy good! Even under poorly administered anesthesia.

Oooh, theory, the woman in the suit in the preview behind Juliet when Juliet is apparently in custody is a malpractice attorney. If that turns out to be true my surgeon hubby will never watch the show again. You know what anesthesiologists are known as right? Gas passers.

It turns out Kate is a Star Wars nerd. It was her Wookie prisoner plan.

It's clear that Aldo believes Kate would shoot him. Does this mean they all know about her bank robbery and how she treated her friends then? They all got shot in the leg too didn't they?

Juliet took time to change her clothes before going to find Kate and Sawyer and Alex? I'm going to let that one go.

So any guesses on who "they" are? Juliet says "they'll" decide what to do with Jack.

And finally, I noticed in the preview we're getting a mystery solved next week. There are cows in the preview, thus the cheeseburger--both the cheese and burger even.

There are horses too, so is Kate's horse the smoke monster? Is it one time, but not the other when Sawyer sees it too, when she pets it?

Question -

Did anyone notice anything in the flashbacks last night that gives any indication of a date? I remember there was a hubbub a few weeks ago about the date, which we would find out more about last night. But other than the fact that Juliet left Miami right around September 11, 2001 I see nothing significant in her length of time on the island.

Other than not every Other was born there.

I think I need to watch that again before forming too many other opinions, other than the fact that it ROCKED!

Chris Procter said...

Memphish Oh thank God I'm not the only one sad enough to do that

Chris Procter said...

I haven't seen the episode yet but I understand that Juliet only said three years

memphish said...

Dark Angel, I wanted to ask you if you've ever read any of the Brian Jacques Redwall books. I know you have little angel/s. They are great read-aloud books for young imaginations.

My son and I are on the 13th and it made me think of LOST (yeah, I know, what doesn't) because the Badger Lords of Salamandastron have their own version of Locke's sweat lodge.

Friday's_Child said...

Has anyone given any more thought to the possibility that Ben is now paralyzed?

And that this explains why he wasn't screaming in pain when he prematurely awakened from his surgery?

That was so creepy!!

Aradia said...

Three years two months and 28 days.

Using September 29th as crash day, and 65 days on the island (I think Ben says that to Sawyer, but I can't remember) it comes out to Juliet leaving civilization right around September 11th.

Aradia said...

Memphish - I love the Redwall books! (Well Ok...I only ever read the first one, but I was old for them when I read that one so....) ;)

memphish said...

Friday's child, don't quote me, but I'd suspect there were two types of anesthesia involved, the one that makes you lose consciousness which was under-administered and then something more like an epidural that would immobilize the spine and control Ben's pain. That would be my guess as to why that played the way it did. I could ask hubby later tonight if you really want to know. He was grousing about Ben's heart rate post-surgery. Said it was too slow. I told him no one wanted to hear that D@@## monitor beep any more often than it did and to get over it. It stinks watching ER with him too.

memphish said...

Isibell, I can reccommend all the books up through No. 12 with only reservations for Marlfox. My son and I have loved them all, but maybe that one.

The plane crashed on Sept 24th didn't it? I should know this.

Tess315 said...

Has anyone ever watch Gene Roddenbury's Andromeda?
Everytime I hear black hole I think of it. Capt. Dillion Hunt was stranded on the event horizon of a black hole for 300 years. Time passed for everyone else except him. I loved that show.

memphish said...

It was the 22nd. I knew that the 24th sounded wrong. Should have been the 23rd.

Aradia said...

Memphish - Sweet! I'll might have to go back and read them some time...Right now I have way to many unread books in my apartment to be buying more. Except for Harry Potter. But that's an exception.

I feel you on the ER front. I didn't call my mother after the show last night for just that reason. Though on your hubby's side, I thought the same thing...and I'm not medical in any way.

September 24, September 29th...it was somewhere at the end of September. I know where to find the info, but mom has my DVD's so unless someone really cares...... ;)

Aradia said...

Ok...so from the 22nd, still using 65 days on the island, she left at the end of August. I'm still interested to know if there was any indication of date in the flashbacks. So many questions on how time passes, that would be a good indicator for us.

memphish said...

Doc Jensen had hinted a couple of weeks ago that she left around Sept. 11th, 2001. I don't know why that is important in the Lostie universe though.

I know TPTB want us to think there's something up with time, but we know the Losties left Australia on 9/22/04 per Locke. The date matches up with the Pearl station printout. 65 days or so have passed which should make it late Nov., early Dec. 2004. The tape showed the Red Sox win the Series in Oct. 2004 and Ben mentions the election of Nov. 2004. Other than Walt's growth spurt I don't feel we've been given anything (other than Moonlight Serenade) to calculate some different rate of time passage.

Here's the other thing about the amount of time Juliet has been there. She arrived around the same time that Desmond did. 45 or so days from 9/22/04 he said he landed 3 years ago. Adding the extra 20 days that makes his time pretty close to 3 years, 2 months and 28 days.

Friday's_Child said...

Thanks, Memphish, for the info re: anesthesia. That makes sense to me now.

I may have missed any discussion on a different subject, but do any of you have theories on what may have happened to Kate's pregnancy, as shown in Ep. 6?

Fenris said...

Lots of posts, so I'm just diving in with my observations then I'll catch up, hopefully I'm not recovering too much.

1. *Mittleos* Bio Science is a bit close to Mittlewerk for it to be a coincidence. Also didn't that Dr.Albert guy look a lot like Dr.Mittlewerk. Kinda, enough like it so that if you were to say cast someone in a TV show to represent him you may go for that actor.

2. Great to see Kate grow some balls again. You don't spend your life on the run without toughening up somewhat, so good to she her kicking butt.

3. Previously I've wondered if this "Jacob" character was Bens superior, but it seems now that at least Juliet considers him to be able to make decisions about who leaves the island, which makes me suspect he doesn't have a superior on the island. My current suspicion is that Ben is the boss of that Dharma project/faction of others, that Jacob is a boss or rouge member of another faction/project and that the only person Ben has to answer to is not on the island.

4. Julliet claimed to have been on the island three years. But Danielle had claimed to have been on the island much longer and so if both are telling the truth it seems likely that the "Others" were acting in strange agressive ways before Julliet had gone to the island. So rather then her getting there and things going bad, she must have been tricked to be part of a situation that was already out of control. Pressumable she was needed to help with the problem caused by whatever happened to mess up the Dharma research. Either that or Dharma was/is still active on the island. Although currently there are problems with them communicating with the outside world so I don't know if "active" is still the word.

That brings up a lot of interesting ideas.

It also could mean that Dr.Albert is an alias that Mittlewerk was using to run a second/continued Dharma without Alver Hanso knowing under the guise of Mittleos Bio Sciences. It seems Mittlewerk may be vein enough to ignore fact that calling the company that may make it a bit easy to spot just so he can have the glory of something like his real name on the name of the company that saves the world (or achieves whatever his aim is).

5. I loved this episode. Although it may just be because I'm so glad Lost is back!

6. The brain washing! I think we'll be seeing break downs of that project for a long time. In a hatch too! I wonder if a lot of the inhabitants of that village we saw in 3x01 are brainwashed? Some of them did seem kinda zombie like at the start of that episode. Then again maybe the actors there are extras because they aren't very good at acting. *shrug* Anyway, I'll no doubt think more on the brainwashing hatch over the weeknd.

7. Good to be back here writting really long comments again. :) Hi all.

DA said: "...when the hatch went kabloom the Island was blown back into the past...stuck in an eternal loop...". OK, my head just exploded. I LOVE IT!!!!!! OK, we just ruined the ending for ourselves, I hope we're happy. :o)

Tommy, too funny about the brainwashing room, I got it!

Too bad about Anna Nicole, sheesh. Would not be surprised if it was bizarre drugs like her son, but would also expect some kind of heart problem with her, considering her yo-yo obesity and alleged self-medication. Sad for her little girl now. :-(

Mr. Fenris!!! Welcome back times infinity! :-D I really your like #4. I often wonder about how things were after the Dharma island set-up collapsed, and what kind of damage control they would use to try to recover.

*wave to Thrasher*
I am curious to discuss a bit more the reasoning of getting a sick woman pregnant. Okay, memphish said earlier that it is to basically the human desire to carry on. But seriously, Juliette is giving a child to what seems to be a dying woman. WHY? If Rachel dies, no matter how bad she wants a kid, who is going to raise this baby. Some mentioned in the other thread (or maybe it was the abc boards...don't remember, I was all over the place today), that perhaps the baby can be used to cure Rachel, but it seemed to me that she WANTED a baby...it just seemed odd to me. I will be curious to see how it plays out. Thoughts?

maven said...

Welcome, Fenris! Missed your long and inciteful comments!

Also agree with your #4. If Juliette is pretty recent (going back to around 9/11/01), then things on the island were already "out of control". The question is: How did Alpert/Mittelos become involved in the research going on on the island? Although we've pretty much debuked the website as being "in game", it was still on the show last night. Mittelos is eerily similar to Mittelwerk (Dr. Alpert also looks eerily similar to Mittelwerk!) Has Mittelos BioScience taken over Dharma and the agenda of Mittelwerk? They're probably the ones continuing the food drops, too.

P.S.: How many times do you guys have to do WV?

maven said...

Hey, Ange! Great to see you here! It's like old home week!

Rachel's pregnancy is very troubling to me, too. We don't know for sure how sick Rachel is...we're led to believe she has cancer. Can someone going thru chemo safely carry a child? It does seem that it's something Rachel really wanted, and something her fertility specialist sister could give her. But it seems pretty dangerous for both mother and child to be pregnant while "sick". I know children have been conceived to donate blood or bone marrow for siblings, but a healthy woman carries the baby.

Ange said...

Yeah Mave, the fan club waited for you all morning...heheh.
I am not entirely sure Rachel has cancer, maybe she is just ill but on the mend. OR maybe she is in remission. Still though, I am curious to see what will come of this.

maven said...

Ange: It's just when you see someone with no (obvious) hair and wearing a "stylish" head covering, you assume she's going through chemo treatments. Although she does seem pretty healthy otherwise. (Saw earlier that Rachel is played by the same actress who played Calamity Jane on "Deadwood"...it's was hard to tell without all that swearing and drinking!)

Wow: A fan club! :) I don't know why I warrant that!

Ange said...

They like what you have to say Mave...soak it up, it is fab! Also WV...this morning not so bad. Tonight 2 or 3 to post.

maven said...

This WV thing is very annoying. I KNOW I typing them in right, but I still have to do it 2 to 3 times!

Capcom said...

Maven and Ange, I was wondering the same thing as I watched last night. Why would you get a dying women pregnant? All we have to go on about Rachel's condition, is that she looked sickly and looked to have lost her hair, correct? I don't understand all that myself.

Thinking about The Fall of Dharma, I would bet that it happened during -- or close to before -- Danielle's team got there. The way she spoke of her team's experience (albeit in a nutty manner) it seems like Dharma could have been in the process of falling to pieces as her team wrecked there. Perhaps the virus/sickness was going critical mass (if indeed there is a sickness, ugh), Dharma factions splitting up the way Fenris (or someone) described it, etc. Could have been a very bad time to shipwreck on the DI island. Not that arriving unwelcomed on a private island full of nutty professors would ever be a fun day.

Re: the WV, I have to do it two or three times. I'm just looking at it as a chance to practice my typing-without-looking skills....over, and over. :o) I'm getting pretty good at it again.

I also noticed last night how different Juliet's personality was before we met her in Otherville. I took from her dealings with Jack and Ben, that she was a pretty strong woman, who could use her cheesy female wiles on men when she needed to. And that she was a little bit, "I'm so calm and serene and better than you", in talking to the captives. But we saw in her pre-island life that she seemed to be a little mousy, insecure, egghead type, who would act like her ex having girlfriends in front of her was her fault. We can now see what being forced to stay on Craphole island can do to a girl!

Ange said...

Mave, up there or maybe the other thread they figured out the WV thing...it is something with google/blogger and the WV expiring when writing a long post.

On a side note, there are some good clips of the previews FOR last night on YouTube, that I don't remember seeing on tv.

maven said...

Capcom: I agree with you re Juliette's personality. She was such a wuss pre-island! She even dressed differently (very school-marmy). And very insecure. I guess being in a position of power on the island changed her. I guess being stuck on that island makes you stronger in a way...makes you need to manipulate those around you when you're in a closed society.

2nd WV: joommlk (just thought it looked funny!)

Ange said...

CAPCOM (and Maven)! I thought that exact same thing about Juliette. I couldn't believe what a pushover she was compared to her personality on the island. Perhaps she was "chosen" for her personality qualities as well as her skills in fertility, and maybe on the island she has broken out of what they expected from her. Could that be where the friction between she and Ben stems?

Capcom said...

Heh-heh, come to think of it, that's what working at IBM did to me. Closed society, indeed. :-( Well, at least I'm not a wuss anymore.

Great observations, everyone! Another great day of Lost brainstorming.

Good theory, but I kind of think that if she was SO unhappy on the island, that she would have caused some psychic havoc at the Walt level, and be home by now. Don't really know what to think about that yet.

I saw that today Capcom. I am with you. I think that the bus thing was a set up, but not caused by any "powers" though. Juliet seems more a scientific talent, than a SciFi wonder-woman.

I agree. I saw that, too and I don't buy it that Juliette has any special powers. Maybe just feminine wiles! LOL If anything, Mittelos set that bus thing up. Or it's just a coincidence...although not much on LOST is coincidence. (Did you see that the bus had an Apollo ad on it?)

Reading things over at UFO, I had a thought. What if The Room is a leftover part of the DI's attempt at trying to change the world, one person at a time (and not merely to "orient" new recruits, or for behavior modification)? Say, to keep humanity from destroying themselves. And then, you know, change one number in the equation after enough peeps have been "repaired"?

I know, it's a gargantuan task, but the DI was like a group of megalomaniacs, they thought that they were special enough to change the course of global history. Was that Dharma Psych video from TLE really in-game, or was it fan-made? It was another version of The Room's audio/visual "training".

So, as for The Room, I suppose that if you can't correct mental instability in the conventional way (the Hanso way), there are always the more extreme techniques (the Mittelwerk way). The DI could have had plans to do mass global brainwashing! Yeah, that's the ticket! :o)

I just happened to remember that Juliet ask whether or not rachel could come with her to portland, and he saidno, because she wouldn't have access to the help she needs, and Juliet replied that portland would have many "clinics".... maybe she's a dialysis patient? Still looks like chemo to me though.AND to answer the question about being prenant and having chemo at the same time... I believe that it is a big no-no in medicine. Chemo is considered almost like poisioning your body in a way.

hiya ange, Experimentalfilm, thrash, and Maven! the old players are back!

Hey, Christine! Isn't this great? Most of us are back again!

Capcom: I don't know. Seems like a monumental task...one person at a time. I just think The Room was used as behavior modification for those not conforming to this new society's rules.

Hey all-
ugh it's late and I have to go to bed, but just wanted to ditto that it is good to have everybody back again. Today was a lot of fun- lots for us to talk about. Here's hoping the rest of season 3 delivers like last night.

Hey ange! That is a good question about Rachels health and pregnancy. I will have to mull that over. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.

I agree that I don't think Juliet has any powers. I think it was a set up. She chose the method of her ex's demise, and it was made so by those who could arrange it.

I disagree, however, about the great change in Juliet. I don't think she's changed as much as it first appears. Ok sure...she's got a more forceful speaking voice. She's got superiority, and conniving calm, but she's still a p@*&y b*%&h. There is no way Ben promised her he'd let her go home. No way in hell! If he was willing to let her go, why not call in a second boat to rescue the Losties and solve both problems. No one is getting off that Island, and Juliet knows it just as well as Jack. What ever Ben has over Juliet he used it when he was speaking with her in the O.R. It's the only reason she'd be willing to kill one of her own people to help Kate and Sawyer. And she's counting on Ben to make sure she doesn't pay for it later. Making sure Alex didn't leave was just a bonus for her. Ultimately, she can act as tough as she wants, but in the end she's still depending on others to keep her safe, and she's willing to do what ever she has to to keep their favor.

Sup Fenris. Welcome back. Just caught up on the comments. Some good observations. I asked this earlier and maybe someone can weigh in.

I recall an interview after TLE closed with Carlton & Damon where they stated TLE was to fill in some back sotry of Dharma and Hanso they wouldn't have time to build into the show, on top ofit helping the LOST fans kill time between seasons.

They said the characters that wrre created with the exceptoon of Alvar were solely for the purpose of TLE and they would never appear in the show.

I don't think Mittelwork will ever show up in the show, but he may show up again if they have another TLE. I just think Mittlos was the best anagram they ould come up with LOST time. I've looked all over for the interview and can't find it, but I belive it was on ew or tvguide.

Anyway, anyone else remember this. I would back and search for our conversation about it but it would take hours!

BTW - Here's the latest reply from Gregg Nations regarding the Mittelos website. This would be the 2nd time he has posted something like this:

http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=68520

Yes, it is fake. Everyone can talk about it all they want, but it's not an official website. A fan obviously went to a lot of trouble with it. Most if not all of the information is flat out wrong.

Actually, what I want to see is the parody that the island is really a roll of Mentos, or entirely made up of Mentos, and all those actors from those painfully bad commercials are really the Others.

I'm so old the term geek didn't exist when I became one.

Wow you must be very old then. The term Geek was first used by Carnival Freak-show Barkers in the beginning of the 19th Century and it was used to describe a person who "Bit the heads off chickens."

Why they bit the heads off still remains an unsolved mystery to me... lol

Codysmom said:

I really hope they don't do a Jack/Juliet thing

But they are perfect for each other. They are both self doubting Drs. who want to fix people no matter what they have to do in order to get it done.

Things I noticed in the Brainwash video:

Text:
Plant a good seed and you will joyfully gather fruit.
Everything Changes.
We are the causes of our own suffering.
God loves you as he loved Jacob.
Think About - Your Life.

Visuals:
Alvar Hanso Window picture. ( Was this an attempt by TPTB to further say that TLE and LOST are different realities, if they wanted to tie them together they could have used a pic from TLE.... hmmmmm)
Gerald Degroot from the orientation video.
Psych guy from the Orientation video.

Chucklez Said:
but know what? how about we close some doors now?? hmm?
is that too much to ask??
four-toed statue, joop, smoke, etc. something for cripes sake!!!

Joop Is in a different reality... but I agree on the other bits... lol

Diggitydirge Said:
Also, on the coming and going freely thing, then tell me how Juliett, and Ethan got on the island if the others don't control their ability to leave or come back. It seems they have a pretty clear transportation method and if they are allowed to by the leaders, they can come and go. Why else would Ben keep promising to send people home?

In reply: Tom a.k.a. Mr. Friendly said: Ever since the sky turned purple...
I think they had a way off the island.

My thoughts return me to the cable Sayid found. During World War One they used long steel cables to connect multiple islands so that small boats could travel them without being taken out to sea. If they had this cable for that reason they might have been able to get away. The Purple sky fries there communications and that cable possibly doubles as a communications wire get severed and they are up a creek without a paddle.

No Parthenogenisis... Different reality again... lol

I think all the Others knew about the Boat, that is how Danny and Juliet were able to both get there so fast. They knew where it was all along.

The Bus has all the right colors to be an Apollo ad, and I believe it was one...

Chucklez, Not all submarines are nuclear powered... lol... Most personal subs are electric.

Friday's child said: Also, in reference to “God loves you as he loves Jacob”, and maybe you guys have already discussed this, but Jacob was a twin.

I said the same thing a few posts back and gave examples of what I thought it all meant in terms of the show... check it out one and all. Also posted it here.

About Tom... Why is it you can never believe anything said by Ben, but when Tom speaks it is like a child who doesn't know how to lie yet... lol

On the Smoke monster... Can my conscience rip trees out of the ground and eat piolets... I do not think so... lol
The suggestion of Cerberus was made because of the map... is that what you meant Diggity?

On time displacement... In an episode of Stargate there is a Black hole 1 lightyear from a planet. This cuases a change in time on the otherside of the evet horizon of the stargate, but not only that on our side of the event horizon time is also being effected from that of surface earth. All four areas are suspended in ther own time dialation field... hmmmm? Could this be what you are all getting at.

Mittelos Video Trascription:

Woman: Say Hi to auntie Julie
Girl: Hi Aunt Julie
Woman: Say we miss you.
Girl We miss you julie.
Woman: Okay now tell her you love her say I love You.
Girl: I Love You (skipping)
Girl: ?I see you?

Mysterious figure: Jul... Juliet, It's me, I have been trying to contact you for years. I need to warn you. ?Someone is coming to get you? Since before you left. This is the only method... communications for years juliet. But Hanso has been running his experiments on humans for years, Juliet, and your in one. ... experiment. You are one. We all are. The Hanso Foundation, the GWC, Widmore corp., and Mittelos biosciences, its all the same Juliet. For over a century they have been in control. They've been killing us. They were trafficing slaves in the eighteen hundreds and not to sell. They are going to kill you, and they were the ones who commisioned Valenzetti. (Edit) They are still running experiments on Humans. ?and there about...? Dont let them know I contac. (skipping)

Good morning locos. Just doing some catching up on the comments -- so many good discussions.

One question... other than chemo, what else would cause a person to lose their hair? I didn't think she looked too sickly so maybe it was something else. I just don't know...

diggity... I also recall Carlton & Damon stating that the TLE characters, with the exception of Alvar, were created for TLE only.

Could that Mittelos guy be a young vibrant Mittelwerk? Where did ol' Mitts work before Hanso?

I wish they would just announce another ARG and get it over with!! The fans want one!!

ded: obviously, you didn't read my followup to the sub thing. all naval subs are nuclear.

personal subs, sure. electric and usually run on generators or batteries. don't forget that most of these are in need of a "mother ship" as well. this is because they can't function entirely on their own.

and again.......i'll stake my last apollo bar that the others don't utilize a damn sub. "lol" as you said. freakin retarded.

and i know joop is in the other "reality". duh. does that mean i want it explained any LESS??? hell no. As a matter of fact, the two "realities" as you say are two different times. the "experience" NEVER discounted the events of 2004 and the losties. both the experience and the show have overlapping themes, etc. such as; the hanso foundation, dharma, electro-magnetism, life-extension, etc. So, with THAT said, where the HELL is JOOP???

And yeah, as far as the show goes, to the producers: don't say everything can be explained logically / rationally and suddenly just TOSS IN a freakin 4-toed statue!!!!! and oh yeah.......don't have us on ONE tangent trying to explain things rationally and turn around and have the damn smoke make itself into a hand and pick up eko, etc. If THAT can be explained "rationally", why discount nanites, purgatory and psychological issues??

I'm telling you, I don't trust these producers or writers.

thrasher: mittelwerk has been with the foundation for years. However, i'm sold that mittelwerk probably had a side thing going, because he's been trying to do his own thing for some time. When Alvar "disappeared", he took full advantage.

I think this (Mittelos) was his "recruiting" front for the DHARMA work that he established on the islands. Mittelos may have even been a real company, but like I said, a front for his ultimate intentions.

ib4uc: lepracy? hahaha. i don't know.
umm...AIDS?? or is it the "treatment" for AIDS that does it? I forget. Anyone seen Philadelphia??
actually, i think your hair can fall out during other medical treatments as well, but i'm not a doctor. So, not 100% on that.

But i've seen people that had cancer (personally) that underwent chemotherapy that didn't look "sickly". it's possible that it IS simply cancer.

Fenris said...

Hey, it's great to see the old gang again. :) It's been a long 3 months.

So okay Juliets sister - Perhaps it is the treatment that made her seem that ill? The hairloss and all that. When she said to her that she didn't have to go through this, perhaps it was because it was making her ill.

I'm also wondering if the others needed some sort of genetic material or something off of a currently pregnant woman to continue that kind of experiment, hence the kidnapping of Claire.

As for Julliets personality change. Perhaps the whole aggressive side of the Others is due to the fact that they have all been brainwashed when they came to the island (with maybe the excetion of Ben?).

In addition to the speculation about the state of the island that Julliet arrived in to, it seems that Kelvin was calling them "Hostiles" probably before Desmond came along, which covers 2+ years, so that seems to back up the idea that things were already crazy over there. I suppose the question is, was she sent into a crazy situation because there was some kind of problem/disaster on the island, or because it's some kind of evil scheme. If you know what I mean.

Also here's another thing - Tom said "ever since the sky turned purple" when he was asked why they didn't get medical help from outside. But the sky turned purple after the others had already set out to capture Jack. So....Either Tom was lying, this isn't the first time the sky has turned purple or Toms finished sentance wasn't solely about the sky turning purple, but there was some other reason they couldn't themselves leave the island (like they rebelled against Hanso/Mittlos) and he was just saying since the sky turned purple they haven't even had contact with the outside world.

Actually maybe it was a half truth. They are cut off fully now as far as contact goes, but that's not the reason they couldn't get a surgeon in. So he told Jack something plausable and with an amount of truth but not actually give him the real answer to his question.

Also, people are really quick with the hoaxes these days. But I suppose they enjoy the attention.

Unknown said...

by the way, didn't the producers say that the 'experience' had nothing to do with the show at some point??

fenris: as far as the hoaxes, i agree with you.
