1 – 200 of 252 Newer› Newest»How could you loathe this episode David? Wow. Other than dissing the episode, another great podcast guys!
you're fast mightybk!
Long live the "first" call! :)
Call (206) 600-0952 and leave a message with your predictions about who the guy in the eye-patch is!
Can't wait to hear the new one! I love coming here Monday morning to a new podcast.
Great podcast, as uaual, guys! Hope Steve is OK!
David: I loved this episode! A lot of character development.
About the man with the eyepatch: Remember the GLASS EYE found in the Arrow station in Episode 7 of Season 2? I think it belonged to the eyepatch guy. My first thought is that eyepatch man may be RADZINSKY. He certainly would know his way around the island and would easily be able to stay incognito for this long. I'm trying to think of who else it could be.
On a sidenote, I sure hope they do something worthwhile with those new characters (Nikki & Paulo) this episode.
Good day all! Great discussions and can't wait to listen to the podcast. :-)
Here are my comments carried over from the last post:
Amused......ditto on the "ewww", I prefer to think that the Others are like the Shakers and celibate...I don't want to think about their sexlife. :-p
I totally think that ya'll are correct that we will be introduced to someone or some group that is worse than the Others that we know so far. Someone or something had to put them in their extremely aggressive survival mode (TWM?????). But I really think that the Others do not have to put the Lostaways in the same threatening category as whomever was pursuing or threatening them in the past. (And at the very least, we should be told who "Him" is SOON, that they are so fearful of......and in season 3, I hope.) I would be OK with the Others setting boundaries, drawing lines in the sand, giving strict warnings to the Losties, etc. But they crossed over the line first by stealing everyone's children! I really can't imagine any excuse that they could use to justify that, and that knowing the reason would make the Losties say, "Well heck, here, take the rest of our children, we don't need to love them!" :-)
Heh-heh, if Rousseau is an Other (which I also wonder, 50/50), maybe she led the Losties to the Blackrock so that they would blow themselves up! When Artz went, she says, "One down, 41 to go." :-)
I am totally at a loss also to understand why the Others knew about the Swan (how could they not, if they looked at the Pearl TVs, or their own at the Hydra) and did not take advantage of the goods and tools inside the Swan. UNLESS, they were afraid of the sickness. BUT, then why would Ben go there to infiltrate? AGH!!!!! And what about that dang sickness?????? I kind of think that TPTB better pay at least a little attention to that article about complicated TV shows that you quoted Maven.
And I still can't justify Ethan hanging Charlie, just because Aaron and Walt are special. And how can we feel sorry for Pickett's loss, if the Others didn't care if Claire or Michael would lose their children forever?! But just to make sure that I don't sound too mean, I do wish that the crashcart had worked and that Jack was able to save Colleen, my heart kind of sank when Juliett said that it didn't work.
I also agree that Benry did the numbers input in the Swan when Locke was under the door, you could clearly hear the counter going, "chickachickachickachick" as it reset itself. I really hope that TPTB explain this conundrum of why Benry reset the counter, and then lied to Locke about it not mattering!
I so very much enjoy reading all your thoughts every morning!!!!!!!
Yes, Admin, that seems to make a lot of sense that missing-eye-guy is Radzinsky. Considering the fake eye and the missing piece of film being together, and all. That will make things very exciting if it is true! E.g., how did he not die if he shot himself? Where has he been hiding? Is he Benry's "Him"? Eeek, I can't wait.
Cont. from last post:::

"It's pretty obvious that the Others had complete knowledge of all the Dharma Stations. Why didn't they use what was in the Swan? Why didn't they take all the arms, food, books, records, washer, dryer, etc? Were they still allowing Desmond to run the station and push the button as part of the continuing experiment? Did they have no idea that the survivors will eventually find it and use the contents? Like you say, the Losties are now armed and a danger to the Others survival. It's just strange that the Others didn't raid the hatch first."
Maybe you are right and the Others did know about the Hatch. I don't remember who said it, but someone once said that The Others might not be Dharama and have found all this stuff there on the Island as well. If this is true and The Others come to the island but land on Alcatraz (if a new name hasn't been picked yet), they land there, explore, and look around. They find the Hydra hatch and basically make it their base of operations. Then as they continue to explore they come across the Pearl station. The see the film and think as Locke did that the button is fake. They don't wan't the guy down there to know who or what they are, so they use disguises incase they run into him. Since they had run into Radzinsky and/ or Kelvin in the passed. Maybe Kel/Rad even knew that they were there and have had dealings with them. Maybe even joined them for tea and muffins over a good book... lol. So this is why they don't go into the hatch and pillage it for everything in it. They don't think they can trust Desmond and they think based on the Pearl Orientation film that they have no contact with the outside world.
Just a thought.

Radzinsky supposedly shot himself, and Kelvin had only 108 minutes to bury him. Why would Kelvin lie about Radzinsky's death?
I think a more likely scenario is that they hacked the pearl station, and able to watch the video backups.
Also off topic, but for anyone in the tri-state area. ( NY,NJ,CT) Jorge Garcia and Todd mcfarlane will be doing a signing at the Times square Toys R Us on November 6th if no one has mentioned it yet. But there is a catch on how to get in.
Find out here:
http://www.spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=12978
dedjezter: just lurking but when I saw you write tri-state area, I was like "whoa, someone else from the area" but my tri-state is OH,KY,IN (where they meet) Oh well...
In regards to the eye patch guy, do we know if it is a live feed or are they playing a film?
My eye-patch vote goes to Radzinsky. The glass eyeball found in Arrow really could be anyone's. But all we have is Kelvin's statement about his old partner killing himself. We know Kelvin is a liar. Radzinsky could still be alive. Although it is difficult to determine from the screen cap whether Eye-Patch Guy is a current surveillance camera or an old film being re-watched. Eye-Patch Guy definitely knows he's being "watched" because he goes right up to the camera lens, Could he also be "HIM"?
i think its an old flim, i mean really, what are the odds he just finds the camera now it didnt have any idea of it before, expecally if it is Radzinsky.
ooooooo i tot that the purple lite that was an EMP to!!
o o o o o in skool were reading Lord of the Flies regarding in the 1t episode of Season 1 lol i nvr got wat he meant bfore Great cast guys!
lord of the flies was one of my favorite books.
yea its pretty good. so who does every1 think the guy in da patch is?
i think it might have been Radzinsky or Mr. Wickmund/Candle, I do not think it is live feed.
Hi Guys,
great Podcast as ever - well apart from that annoying Dark Angel ;)
I can onlt think of two good reasons why the Others left Desmond in the Swan Station:
1) As I said in the previous post, they needed someone to press the button and better that it was Desmond than one of them.
2) They could not get into the Hatch and they were not as desperate or stuid as look to risk using the highly
unstable TNT (or they tried to get Pickett to do it but he refused!)
With regards to the guy with the eye patch, it has to be a live feed - that Station has been there for 30 years, that means if it is recorded it has to be on video tape - at long play that's over 65,000 tapes for each camera, so we are talking in excess of half a million tapes for Locke to look through!
Who is the guy, it's not RD, he's dead or at least lost more than just an eye, It's not Christian Shepherd (TPTB have said when people are dead they remain dead, It's not Alvar Hanso, TPTB have confimed that no charachters from TLEC would appear in the TV episodes. Is it Dr. Wickman, unlikely the face is caucasion, Is it Henry the mild mannered janitor .... could be - oh sorry wrong show. My guess is it is a new character, possibly a rogue Dharma guy, possibly HIM.
Goog Hope you've recovered and the kids at School didn't give you too hard a time once they found out what
happened.
New official Podcast too!
No more question as to what happened to Jae.
Who ever it is I agree...I don't think it's a live feed. Lock turned all those screens on when he and Echo were in the station in the first place. The only one that worked was the Swan station. I suppose that the feed could have come through when the Swan feed stopped due to implosion, but I think it's more likely that they found recordings of the feeds. The pearl would be the kind of place that would have recordings like that.
yo im reposting this from last thread
so here are my thots and discoveries. First off i was watching the promo for next weeks ep. and i kept pausing it over and over and i cought this 1 image of Locke,Sayid and probly Desmundo and it looks like there in the pearl and there taking out on of the tv collums (sp?) and sayid is doin somthin with it. any way about last week. haha i was rite bfore the ep. aired wen we first saw henry looking at the monitors and i posted that it looks like he has glasses on and I WAS RIGHT!! YAY me! so hmmmmmmm lets see.......o yea i was reading somwere that (this is kinda stupid) that wen Benry was took Sawyer to the top of that cliff that sayer was looking into a mirror a GIANT mirror and looking back on the real island. And with him being on it and them making sawyer beleive that there was 2 islands. but he would imeadiatly find that out once he turned around seing how big the island was. Get wat im sayin? but i dont think theyd go trough ALL THAT TROUBLE just to do that. and wen the cameras done panning wen they reveal the island (or wen it stops) look to the far left corner the island looks like it goes on for MILES! at first im thin why wouldnt they of seen The Hydra Island then im lookin at dis sayin WOW. They could be WAY down at the other and of it. too bad Sayid never completed his walk around the island in season 1. But he just HAD to get captured by The french chick........dam it. and on the tv scrren in the promo for nxt ep. that person or watevr it was in the screen behind him (or her) it looks like the equipment behind the compter in THE HATCH! wat evr it is the person looks like he (or her) has an eye patch on??? so any think they kno wat that thing is in the screen?
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I KNO WHAT IT IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ok bhind the man it looks like the equipment behind the computer in the swan.So maybe Radzinsky or somwone else found a camera in the swan and was like waving in it ukno? plus in the promo well just read it from my last post
First off i was watching the promo for next weeks ep. and i kept pausing it over and over and i cought this 1 image of Locke,Sayid and probly Desmundo and it looks like there in the pearl and there taking out on of the tv collums (sp?) and sayid is doin somthin with it.
Hi Cam Interesting idea with the mirror but I'm not sure it would work in real life and it's a hell of a thing to set up!
I agree about the computers though, there you can certainly see an old reel to reel data reel like those in the hatch behind Mr Eyepatch, however I would suggest that there would be other computers in other hatches.
Speculation - NOT Spoiler
Man with the eye patch, I also think is Radzinsky. I dont know why Kelvin may have lied, but maybe he told what he knew to be true to Desmond, about Radzinsky's burial.
Radzinsky might have not really done lethal damage to himself, and now wears a HEAD patch to cover the disfigurement from the suicide (or murder) attempt.
For reasons I wont spell out at this time, Radzinsky may also be Benry's brother. And to top that off, there might be a third brother somewhere in the mix.
I dont think we will get answers Wed night for the eye patch guy, but we might get a few the episode before the hiatus begins.
This might get real interesting :)
Two more thoughts reguarding eye patch guy.
A mouse has more then one hole, would explain his phantom like ways.
And remember when Eko and Locke discovered the Pearl hatch? CC & DL podcast revealed at that time that the "butts" on the bench (tobacco or weed) were lite at the Pearl discovery. I wonder if the eye patch guy has some home made pain killer??
Hey DArk Angel ya thanks. :) yea that guy mite be HIM but i think Benry is but he mite not be saying in seas.2 him saying to Locke "If I tell you, you dont know what h'ell do!!!" but mayb he was just saying that so they thot that he was a low ranking member? get wat me saying? and lol in last ep. Julleits like "Thats not the way we do things around HERE Jack we make decisions together." now wen she said here i thot she could just be saying that or Benry told them that they dont make decisions together (Regarding wat Benry said to locke in season 2 and lockes response back) after i post this ill go back to see wat he said (cuz i have all of Season 2 downloaded off iTunes w00t!)
Well Locke should recognise any 'home grown' pain killers!
dark angel, yes he should :)
mkay i got it
Henry-"I just dont know why you let the doctor call the shots"
John-Nowone calls the shots,Jack and I make decisions together.
Henry-(very like nervous and fast) Right,Okay. (long pause) My mistake.
Followed by John starting to wash dishes than suddenly swiping all the dishes off the sink in an enraged state.
Episode 15 of Season 2-Maternity Leave 44:46-45:29
now heres the one from last ep.
Jack-Should I talk to Benjemin? (sp)
Julleit-Sorry?
Jack-Should I talk to Benjemin? Because im starting to think your just the person who brings me my food.
Julleit-You can talk to him all you want, but he wont tell you anything.
Jack-You work for him?
Julliet-No i dont work for (she says for weirdly) him.
Jack-He's in charge.
Julleit-Oh it doesnt work that way over here Jack,we make decisions together.
Jack-Really?,Because when I was holding that broken plate at your neck he seemed happy to just let you die. I mean it felt like he made that decision on his own.
Julleit-(Almost like shes about to cry) You dont know what your talking about. I dont answer to him.
Then Ben barges in telling Julleit about Colleen and taking her out.
Episode 4 of Season 3-Every Man for Himself 2:59-3:59
These are some cultural refrences from Every Man for himself
Sawyer calls Munson "Costanza" in reference to the Seinfeld character George Costanza.
Sawyer calls Munson "Murgatroyd" in reference to the cartoon character Snagglepuss, who in turn is a reference to Bert Lahr's character The Cowardly Lion in the 1939 film version of the Wizard of Oz.
Sawyer calls Pickett "Chinatown" in reference to the injured and bandaged nose of Jack Nicholson's character Jake Gittes in the 1974 Roman Polanski film Chinatown.
One of the Others stabs/injects Sawyer in the sternum "like in that movie". The movie is most likely Pulp Fiction where two men have to inject a woman with adrenaline using a very big needle.
The cartoon Jack is watching is entitled The Blue Danube. There are several connections to the themes of Lost: A black duck with a family of white swan, and a vulture trying to steal the children.
The white bunny numbered 8 is almost certainly a reference to Stephen King's On Writing. King describes a caged white rabbit with the number 8 painted on it as an example of the power of words to transmit pictures and ideas.
The bunny could be a reference to the books Of Mice and Men or Watership Down in which rabbits are a motif.
The name Munson could be a reference to Thurman Munson who wore #15 for the New York Yankees.
The heart rate monitor Sawyer is made to wear is a Suunto (most probably model Advizor), and is labeled as manufactured by "pacelabs 514". "pacelabs 514" is really a "Spacelabs 514" (U.S. Patent #4715385) which is a common heart monitor that was manufactured as early as 1981
The episode derives its title from a line delivered by Jack to the crowd, in White Rabbit. "Every man for himself is not going to work. If we can't live together, we're all going to die alone."
Sorry, I won't believe that the Others referenced Pulp Fiction by saying "...the movie..." and not a DI training film, until I hear someone in the show, or someone who makes the show, say that it is so. Then I will announce that I am completely wrong. :-)
I can believe that Kelvin lied to Des about Rad, since he lied to him about the quarantine, his boat, etc. Pretty sneaky guy. Maybe he shot Rad, and Rad escaped and got away with one eye intact, so Kelvin now says, "Uh, yeah, he shot himself."
It seems that most people are going for Radzinski as the man in the eyepatch, but the guy is clearly dead, and there's a stain on the Swan Station ceiling to prove it. I'll stick my neck out and say that Mr Eyepatch will turn out to be a completely new character, who has never been mentioned before. I'm also hoping that what the Losties are looking at in the promo, is it's a live feed from another hatch. I've long thought there may still be Dharma people around, living in the Island's underground tunnels. The blast door map strongly suggests that the Dharma stations were all connnected up in the past (the block-offs are marked with X's). There's been many hints at an Island underworld in the show: the hieroglyphs spelled out the word Underworld (according to the producers), the hole which smokey tried to drag Locke into, the mention of Cerebus on the map (guardian of the underworld).
geez where did you get all that infomation from?
*Talking to Cam*
sunbruise: Me?
o sry well about the mini transcripts iTunes and other stuff LOSTPEDIA!!!!
the transcripts i wrote me self and the other stuff i copy/pasted
And I dont think its Radzinski either, no matter how much I want to beleive it, he just seems to be a cool guy, name is cool, pretty smart, strong... anyway I truly beleive he is dead but I do think we will see him sometime like in someones flash back.
but it could still be Radzinsky and it not being live feed is still a possiblity.
jeeze man make up yo mind lol
DA: Your theory about the Eye Patch Guy seems likely. Explanations for things have often followed Ockham's Razor and your idea seems to fit that.
But it is cool to think about Eye Patch Guy being tied to the glass eye and Radinzky. Also, maybe it's not a tape of him but a peek back in time to when he was in the hatch!?
And I don't mean from watching a tape. We know there's something funky going on with time since Desmond seems to know "everything" now.
Ya Im not liking the whole desmond seeing the future thing, I hope they find a good way out of it besides killing him.
Good point, sunbruise. And did his flash give him any info about Penny? If so, is that why he seems so much more content now? He knows she's coming for him? Or did what he learn make him feel "beyond that?"
*******************MAJOR SPOILER***********************************
I read on spoilerfix.com that somwone is going to die nxt episode and its not Sawyer it suposed to be a main Character
********************END SPOILER**********************************
dennis - I sent you an email.
Lostforwords yea i see waht you mean but it seems just to be REALLY old and dirty a seems to be turned sidways
i just relized somthing when Locke is done lookin at the skeletons the camer turns and eko has maybe a bone or a stick with blood on it mayb he used it to fight off the bear? any1 have any ideas.also the blood is fresh so its not like dried for one of the other bodies
I never really thought about that much, i thought he pulled it out of him or something like that.
OMG i just saw i preveiw for LostJack was talking directly to Ben and he said im here to save you then the narrorater says "ONE OF THE SURVIVORS IS GOING TO DIE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now its confirmed
Near end of "Every Man For Himself" a graphic artist left either his monogram or his personal feelings about a rushed special effect job.
http://www.lostdude.com/lostpics/LOSTS03.E04HR-2552RE_resize.jpg
: )
TBM: I looked at the pic and can't make it out. What does it show/say?
ib4uc , it says "SUcKY"
Many of the background rock formations in the last minutes of "Every Man For Himself" have hidden imagery.
Most are vague, and NOT alpha-numerical. Imagery can be seen in screen caps by:
rotating caps, so they are upside down
enlarging and looking closely
IMO, imagery does not provide specific clues. Instead, imagery provides general clues to the Lost environment.
But the letters as mentioned above are for sure "S" "U" "K" "Y"
Hey Y'all,
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
or to give it it's proper name -
Happy Samhain
:)
That "Sucky" message seems like Kind of a Stretch. I'm not doubting you , but that picture needs to be maniupulated and blown up, and manipulatedf again that it looks like more of a coincidence than anything.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN and LOST EVE!
I have updated the Flickr Lost Pumpkin Page
passafist, I am not sure what it means, but it is there, and stood out to me. Here is a clue and a riddle. (just like the old ARG Days :) For Those that Want to Know

BOO! Happy Halloween to all!
Hey, Dennis: Great Pumpkin Pics! Those carvings sure must have taken some time to do!
Next we need best LOST Thanksgiving recipes!
What Maven, like Dharma Green Bean casserole?
Memphish: That's the idea!
It's interesting that the Losties haven't celebrated anything. They come from all over the world and there's been some holidays to acknowledge.
I guess the producers didn't want the traditional "Halloween" or "Christmas" episode! LOL
Now that it's been officially revealed in ABC commercials (as Cam mentioned) and it's no longer a spoiler, I'm surprised people aren't speculating about who is going to die this week?
As I recall, we did come to a consensus last week that upcoming episode previews shown on TV were not considered spoilers, right?
Anyway, my guess is Eko. My second guess would be Sayid.
But I would still love to hear a 3 part harmony by Sayid, Locke and Bernard doing "Deck The Halls"
I'm still holding out that Vincent's Gonna die. Come On how many main characters are we gonna get rid of? But if they could put Paulo and Nikki out of their misery that would be nice too.
Happy Samhain!!!!!!
(aka. Happy Halloween)
All I know is that if Echo kicks the bucket on Wed Bernard better duck and cover. He's the only other taillie left.
I'm just afraid that it's Hurley. Thinking back to Lock's trip Hurley was the one that was a man out of place per say (working for the airline, rather than being a passenger. Does that mean that he's not going to leave the island maybe?) And Boone didn't say anything antidotal about Hurley, just 'No...Not Hurley.' Plus he's such a well loved character........
Oh wait. Didn't Damon say he was working on a Hurley-centric episode on this week’s podcast?
Last Cuse & Lindelof podcast also mentioned one of the Lost inhabitants was gay. That has me wondering.
Male or female, regular cast or a red shirt?
Any ideas?
See mime...that one is so unfair. My gaydar doesn't work through a television screen. Let's think.........Benry?
Kidding. Currently I think the easiest cop out is Mr. Friendly. After all...Kate isn't his type. And Kate is every red blooded strait mans type.
I think Tom/Zeke is gay. I thought that when he told Kate "Don't worry, you're not my type" or something to that effect.
I don't think it will be either of the two new characters. We haven't really met them yet.
I don't think it will be a female character. Too many have been killed already.
I don't think it will be Jack, Kate, Sawyer, or Locke. They appear (to me) to be too important to the overall mythology of the show. And they are very popular characters.
Jin or Sun? Don't think so. I don't think they'd leave one without the other. And there is the whole baby plotline for those two to resolve.
Bernard or Rose? No, we haven't even seen them this season.
Hurley? No, too popular of a character. Plus, as isibell said, if the Lost producers are telling us the truth in their podcast, that rules him out. I also suspect we will learn more about him and the balcony incident and how his fate is tied in with the numbers. The story has to address the numbers at some point again, right? TLE didn't answer everything.
Can't be Desmond (I don't think). It feels like they are just beginning to developing a new story arc for him on the island, what with his new powers.
So that leaves...Charlie? Eko? Sayid? Hmm...maybe it will be Charlie. He has been annoying lately (to me anyway). But I think it'll be either Eko (he is already hurt so maybe he doesn't have much time left) or Sayid.
There's no way it can be Vincent, can it? After the pseudo bunny death last week, I couldn't take it!
Just to clarify, I was posting on who will die, not on who could be a gay character.
Prediciton: Vincent will not be the gay character.
I'd kind of like it to be a guy to be honest. Lesbians on a deserted island sound way to much like a guy’s wet dream. (Not that there would be more than one lesbian...which causes a problem with the wet dream scenario.) Plus it's so much more socially acceptable to be a lesbian than it is to be gay. (I've never understood that, but I assume it's a male macho thing.) I'd like to see the show push the line just a bit. Make one of the guys gay, and make everyone deal with it. Not that I can think of even one of our Losties that would have a reason to have a problem.
We seem to be losing a lot of our veteran bloggers due to the spoilers posted. FYSB left after the last ep, and has not posted since. We haven't heard from Dixxee since around the first ep of S3.
Some people on this blog try not to watch all the ABC TV or website previews, or foreign previews, so those announcements are still spoilers to them. Even if ABC let all the cats out of the bag for the next ep, some people still would not want to know what is going to happen until they watch the ep. And it seems like our posts get more spoiler-sloppy, as time draws very close to the new episode.
It's a shame if we've lost our longtime posters because of that. I miss FYSB and others who don't post here anymore because of spoilers. It's fun to speculate, but not everyone watches the previews or enjoys speculating. Could we try to be more sensitive to those folks, and discuss spoilers/foilers elsewhere, so our friends can come back to the blog again? Sorry to be a pain, it's just a suggestion to keep our veteran posters around for the fun. Thanks.
Dude, the administrator first mentioned the preview of the eye patch guy, at the top of this thread.
*** back into lurk mode ****
I went back and removed my speculation post, even though I thought everyone had decided that previews were fair game.
Personally, I understand that some people don't appreciate spoilers, but I do think that we should be able to speculate on things that were shown in the promos. No one seemed to have a problem with people trying to figure out who the one-eyed man was, so why should there be an issue discussing who is going to die?
Sorry, not trying to be a jerk... can't please everyone, I guess.
capcom: there are many veteran bloggers from the TLE days that have gone missing. But, unlike FYSB, who hasn't participated because of the "spoilers", I think many of them just played the ARG and after that was over, just stopped participating in TLC. Which is a shame because this is the only place I go to read other viewpoints/theories about Lost, amongst other things. The people are great!
Cont'd... off the top of my head, veteran bloggers like:
ryandrums
matt the pale
pandora
peaceandnamaste
belly0fdesire
lhorse007
oxillini
dixxee
lena
marcusisntlost
noblelawyer
just to name a few. They're just not around anymore.
I'm not on that list but it's been a while since I posted. I've been lurking. I've not been posting because of health issues (just too sick from chemo) not because of spoilers. I like reading about all the concepts and ideas, keep them coming!!!!
tlcm: I just named a few off the top of my head that I could remember. I knew you had some health issues and I've seen you post here and there. I mostly lurk also.
ib4uc - I agree. I really appreciate this place, and I think it's because TLE. TLE brought together a group of people who were able to cull information from everywhere. They pieced together information from clues not only with in the broadcast story, but from the internet (both sights that were included in the game, and those that had nothing to do with it other than having the information people needed), and from the IRL street. They developed a vocabulary, and symbiosis, a cooperation, and most importantly a level of intelligence and respect that is not easy to find anywhere else on the web. I’ve been on spoiler sights. There are so many more of them out there than the tidbits that we get from previews. And ultimately it seems impossible to avoid discussion about what is going to happen next without bringing up what is ultimately hearsay, or what some call spoilers. Plus one can only extract so much information from an hour of television before we start over examining (Jae’s swan dive).
I trust the writers, producers, and everyone else on the staff of Lost about as far as I can throw them when it comes to revealing what's about to happen. I've worked on sets like that (though nothing as large or as cool.) The people who are creating this want to fool you. Why?!? It's fun! I'll believe that episode 10 is a Hurley flashback episode when I watch episode 10. But until then I have to leave the possibility of Hurley's death tomorrow open. That's not spoiler...that's just what I think. Does that mean anyone is going to die tomorrow? Hell no. I don’t put it past TPTB to leak something like that just to mess with our heads. And I certainly don’t trust the pre-views. Editors are so much more savvy than that.
So at the risk of starting another half a day discussion of what is and isn’t spoiler let me just say that because of the slyness of the people leaking the information it’s hard to say what’s truly spoiler and what’s just someone messing with peoples heads. And because of the intelligence and resourcefulness of the people that post on this board it’s hard to keep information that some would consider spoiler from popping up. Am I advocating a daily update from spoilerfix? No. If I want that information I’ll go there. But I have to be honest…most of what I find on spoilerfix is stuff that I already assumed. (Like what they say about the J,K,&S situation or the fact that they turned a research facility into a Miami Hospital which I first read about on lostipidia.) And the rest of it is usually covered in the coarse of conversations around hear weather your aware of it or not. We are attempting to figure out what’s going to happen next, and because of that spoiler and speculation tend to run hand in hand. That’s the nature of the beast.
Wow...that turned into a rant. Sorry.
isibell said...Plus one can only extract so much information from an hour of television before we start over examining (Jae’s swan dive).
I don't know why but I kinda chuckled when I read the swan dive thing.
*giggles*
Um...no pun intended. ;)
******SPOILER********
My thoughts on who will die.
JACK - To important right now. (0% Chance)
KATE - They would be idiots to kill her off. (0% Chance)
SAWYER - To important right now and to popular. (0% Chance)
LOCKE - Again, to important right now. (3% Chance)
HURLEY - Way to popular to kill. (0% Chance)
SAYID - Possible, but I hope not for he is my favorite character. (40% Chance)
JIN - Possible, he's story is pretty much over now. (50% Chance)
SUN - They can't kill off another girl. (5% Chance)
CHARLIE - Highly possible, he's story is pretty much over, he never really had good flashbacks either, and he hasnt been a favorite of a lot of people since season one. (70% Chance)
CLAIRE - They can't kill off another girl. (5% Chance)
EKO - Possible, but it seems to likely so I dont think it will be him, besides, if Eko dies, Locke would lose faith again because he thinks the island wants him to save him. (50-70% Chance)
ROSE or BERNARD - Dont have a good reason to keep them but I dont think it will be them. (15% Chance)
DESMOND - To popular and important, he also has a lot of history still untold. (0% Chance)
BEN, JUILET, TOM, PICKETT - Not sure if any of them are considered main people but if they are I dont think it would be Ben or Juilet, to important right now but Tom and Pickett still can die though. (For any, 20% Chance)
ROUSSEAU - Again, not sure if she is considered a main but she cant die, she still needs to find Alex and have a flackback episode. (10% Chance)
********END OF SPOILER*********
Is Echo really that predictable a choice? It is his flashback ep after all.
Most of the time if its their flashback they seem to die, lol.

Been catching up: Can't believe we're talking about spoilers again! Isabel...well-stated! Agreed that avoiding previews/spoilers is almost impossible unless you just go off-line! Sorry we're missing some old regulars...really miss FYSB's sense of humor! Most of the no-shows were just ARG players, or went back to their old LOST forums after TLE.
Speaking of the ARG. Has anyone heard anything about what they have planed for the break. I've heard the word Webasode used.
Currently listening to the podcast, but I didn't notice the eye patch. I thought it was someone dressed as an alien (green skin, black glossy eyes). Better pay more attention to previews!
lifeobstacle:OMG my friend thot it was an alein to im like wtf r u talkin bout.
I wonder if that has anything to do with my gigantic TV? Maybe it just makes things too big! I did rewatch it online, and I can tell that it's not an alien now. :)
yea my post bfor has the 2 new ones on abc and this is not a spoiler anymore knowing that SOMEWONE IS GOING TO DIE!!!!!
happy halloween everyone! I am going as the black cloud. watch out. I am going to get you!!!
Yes Dennis, posts have been veering far off from the Admin's intent for this blog, as of late. Thanks. There are lots of other places to go for people to get to be the first to make big reveals that overstep the bounds of a little preview talk (and this blog's boundaries), if that's what they like to do. :-)
Hey guys. I hate doing this but I feel like I need to step in.
FIRST:
I appreciate everyone's patience with me. I have been attending to some sensitive family matters that have kept me largely distracted the past several weeks. Unfortunately I don't see the situation changing anytime soon but I'm trying to get back to a "normal" routine which I hope will include diving back into the blog.
SECOND:
I acknowledge that I have done a poor job A) Defining and clearly stating a spoiler policy and B) Enforcing said policy (with gentlesness, patience, and respect). Hopefully A) will be taken care of in tomorrow's post and I may be recruiting some help to assist with B).
THIRD:
For now, let's KEEP SPOILERS OFF THIS THREAD. If you have posted spoilers, please make the effort to delete any of your own posts containing spoilers. You may want to first copy your thoughts and paste them in the Message Board or in some other forum. I think everybody probably knows about Dark UFO's Spoiler Site. In my humble opinion, it is the most thorough and accurate and media-rich of all the spoiler sites. It too is a Blogger site so you can chat in his comments about Spoilers if you like.
Feel free to post an invite in this forum for people to join you for a spoiler chat in one of his threads. You could say, "New spoiler on spoilerslost.blogspot.com! Meet me there to discuss but don't say anything about it here!" I think that would be fair. Thanks for understanding.
David: It must be tough to watch TLC getting out of hand. Although definitions of spoilers have been given...everyone has their own version of what a spoiler is in their minds. Nothing seems to change that. I hope a solid compromise can be reached to keep most happy...we've lost so many good people lately.
Dennis: Your "rant" was well-said. I think what does happen as the week goes by is that we kind of run out of things to discuss, and we begin to grasp at any tidbit to talk and speculate about. Unfortunately, that tends to let some spoilerish stuff creep in. But if you watch ABC at all, one cannot help but see the next episode's preview (especially as it gets closer to Wednesday).
Got my pumpkin carved finally!
Hey Dennis, you've got mail!
(this message contains no spoilers)
Between Lost and Heroes, I think I'll need to have my blood pressure meds adjusted. Too much stress every week!
Glad to hear from you, David/Admin. Thanks for saying something. I'll say a prayer for your family, hope everything is ok.
Happy Lost Day!
Dennis,
In all fairness while I agree with your estimation, we on the podcast go out of our way to tell people not to post about Spoilers in the Comments section. I'm always giving out the phone number asking people to go to the message board, and making sure any spoilers we talk about are padded with lots of warnings, so you see them comming. So please don't blame the podcast... I want the comment section to as free of spoilers as it possibly can. But let's face it there are some grey areas...
------------Spoiler----------------
The Man In The Eyepatch
-----------Spoiler----------------
It was part of last wednesday's episode how could you not bring it up. Even if it's part of the promo for next week, it's still there.
LOST is a game. It's all about figuring out Theories, and discovering new insights before the next guy, and sharing it. So that's what we strive to do on the Podcast.
But to blame Me, or the show for the influx of Spoilers in the comments is unfair, when I go out of my way to steer people away from the comments for discussion.
Just my two cents!!!!!
Hi Guys,
Time for my daily catch up :)
Isibell Just for the record Kate isn't my type either but as far as I know I'm straight ;)
Maven It is a shame to loose a lot of the regulars, but I agree that a lost have probably just drifted back to their original forums and some, Like Mattt the Pale where only here for the ARG (he didn't even watch Lost)
Spoilers Well I agree that I will not post any spoilers i.e any facts (or rumours)that relate to non-aired episodes. I know in the past that I have inadvertently posted things that I assumed where common knowledge. David Could you confirm that the US and Canadian Promos are spoilers and should not be mentioned?
David No need to apologise about anything, you have created one of the best places on the web here and I do not say that lightly. I first came here via the podcast which I heard of through Lost Casts, Ok I have to admit at first I thought the Podcast was a little cheesy :P but I came to love it and the TLEC blog was a revelation. I've been online since the late 80's and in the early 90's used to spend a lot of time on usenet and mailing lists but I got fed up with the Trolls and Flamers and imature attitudes. It was only when I found TLEC that I started engaging with others online in any meaningful way again. The whole spoiler discussion just shows how great this place is; reasoned discussion, polite requests, no flamming or insults. Way to go.
Sunbruise Welcome to TLC, I see you are a bit like me, once you start posting you can't stop. Check out our sister blog Stories of the Lost sometime. Oh and I liked the poetry on your web page too :)
Happy Lost Day! Can't wait 'til tonights episode.
David: Glad to see you pop in and hope things get better for you and yours.
No more spoilers... FYSB, where are you? C'mon back!
tlcm: Good to see you post and hear that you're lurking. May you be given strength to endure what you're going through. I pray for your heart's peace and your body's strength.
Yeah TLCM our thoughts are with you.
FYSB Come back, please.....
Re: Spoilers.
Even corporate sites (prime example is E!Online) still deal with spoiler problems.
During the season finales last spring, Kristin posted something that in the TITLE of the post said something about certain deaths on the series finale of ALIAS. She quickly redacted the names but the people on the boards were left with weeks of message-editing, member-banning, etc.
Once finales were over, tempers quieted down. This will ALWAYS be a problem with sites and I think the best thing to do is be careful of tempers during finale times (pod-finales included).
But yeah... and I use SpoilerFix for all my Spoiler needs. Good and prompt spoiler recaping from all the major and minor sites (like The Transmission).
Love,
Kristin
p.s. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE NEXT TUESDAY!!!
K.Barrick said p.s. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE NEXT TUESDAY!!!
Not me, wrong side of the Atlantic ;)
Good point though we have a real problem with voter apathy over here - people vote for the X-Factor or Big Brother but not the Government, priorities I guess :P
HAPPY LOST DAY EVERYONE!
Passafist said... In all fairness while I agree with your estimation, we on the podcast go out of our way to tell people not to post about Spoilers in the Comments section. ... So please don't blame the podcast
I'm sorry, I know it's not your fault. I appreciate the hard work you guys are doing to put out a podcast each week.
I just wish the mission of the podcast was more inline with the blog, in regards to spoilers.
I have a suggestion. How about having the current episode discussion first, then at the end, talk about the previews.
Guys,
Anyone that peeks in here today before 4:00pm CST...Let's work together to form a "generally agreeable" definition of a spoiler for me to include in tonight's post. Let me just re-state up front that, from the beginning, THIS BLOG HAS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED DISCUSSION OF SPOILERS. Most people agree on keeping things spoiler free but there is much confusion on what "counts" as a spoiler.
Dennis and others have done some great work of coming up with clear standards for what is and what isn't spoiler content. My opinion differs slightly too but I would like to know what the rest of you think. Consider this a survey. If you'd like your voice to be heard, please answer the survey questions and then add your thoughts separately at the end. (This is a "survey" not a "vote" so don't be discouraged if the outcome doesn't exactly line up with the survey results)
1. Do you consider content of US and Canadian "Promos" to be spoilers?
2. Do you consider content of the AOL and other Sneak Peek scenes (often available on YouTube) to be spoilers?
3. Do you consider content of publications (i.e. Kristin at eonline, Ask Ausiello at TV Guide, "Doc" Jensen at ew.com, etc) that mention not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashback plans/etc to be spoilers?
4. Do you consider content of The Official Lost Podcast that mentions not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashbacks/etc to be spoilers?
5. Do you consider personal speculations on what might happen (based solely on past episodes) to be spoilers?
6. Do you consider content of The Lost Experience and inferences built off that content to be spoilers?
I think that the main reason I came here was to here what people had to say, and what their conclusions of the episode was. I f a spoiler constitutes guessing and speculating, then what is the point of saying anything. It seems that no matter what is said, people are going to complain. I think what makes blogs like this fun is reading what people think, and their theories behind it. If we cant do that, then I don't see any point at all.
My survey response:
1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. No
5. No
6. No
I know that my opinions differ from a lot of people and I am way eager to compromise. The best definition of spoiler I've ever seen is: Anything that gives away information about future episodes of the show that have not yet been aired. Based on this definition, you begin a new discussion on the semantics of what can be considered "aired".
I personally consider the promos that ABC runs on TV to be "aired" and therefore open for speculation and discussion. I also have given myself a little more rope and have allowed myself to believe that the Official Lost Podcast is also something that is "aired" by ABC and should be fair game. I realize that this is a pretty big compromise if you begin to consider anything from the lips of producers to be something that has been "aired" because they are also the ones talking to Kristin, Ausiello, Doc Jensen and the like.
IMHO, I'm fine with cutting discussions of Official Lost Podcast spoilers, magazine article spoilers, online spoilers, etc. I would still like to be able to discuss what I see on the promo that airs immediately after the episode.
christine#2,
A spoiler should not include guessing and speculating...that's taking it too far. Everyone should be allowed and encouraged to THEORIZE on what they think things mean and where they think things will lead. What we have to be very SENSITIVE to and CAREFUL about is WHAT INFORMS our theories. If we are informed by spoilers, anything that gives away (not guesses at) information about future episodes of the show that have not yet been aired, then our speculations are out of place.
It is totally fair to "guess" but it is unfair to "give away".
David: in reply to your survey
1. I consider the promos not to be spoilers. They are what is shown on TV so anyone watching will see them.
2-3. Yes, spoilers.
4. No.
5. Personal speculation should not be a spoiler. But, it's touchy. How do you determine if it is someone's true speculation or them requoting a spoiler and passing it off as their own?
6. No.
The availability of spoilers constantly tempts us to inform our thinking with answers to our questions. I think the reason why people want to keep this forum generally spoiler free is because they like the challenge and the fun of trying to come up with answers on our own. We're venturing into a topic that should be discussed on storiesofthelost.com but I believe we are tempted to look at spoilers b/c of our pride...we don't want our theories to sound stupid or to be proved stupid so we seek to inform them with inside information. I know that's why I look at spoilers and why I have to bite my tongue all the time in this forum...I am constantly wanting to say things that are informed by spoiler info b/c I want to sound smart and impress everybody!
If I want to have fun here, I've got to stop reaching out for those apples that tempt me. The same is true for life.
I love this show, I love this blog, and I love talking about this stuff with you guys.
:)
administrator said... I love this show, I love this blog, and I love talking about this stuff with you guys
My sentiments exactly!
David,
If you say that we can talk about things that are "aired" which includes what is seen in the promos at the end of the episode, then I think I might stay around.
Sorry long post. Good pre-show topic.
To start, I think this is a great blog. It is full of insightful commentary on the show and "other". It is the only such blog I regularly visit on the web. I don't post much, but very much enjoy reading others comments.
I avoid spoilers so I can feel smart if I figure it out on my own. I do like to hear other people's oppinions as to what will happen, with the understanding that they are working with the same info I am. Thats the fun part.
With that being said:
My Survey response.
1. no - it is part of the tease after the episode and is meant to generate specualtion and interest to get us to watch next week (like we wouldn't otherwise). It is open for discussion
2. yes - very much a spoiler
3. yes - especially talk of contracts and "the business" of lost. ie... "Actor X won't die this year because he has been given a huge contract through Season 5."
4. Yes - They are pretty free with their info on the podcast. IMHO it can lead to spoilers. I avoid it due to that fact. (this is the weakest "yes". I could easily be swayed to change this oppinion to a "no".
5. NO! Isn't open discussion about what happend on the show and where the plot will lead on the show the point of this board.
6. No TLE is all in the past and was intended to give the players insight to the show (numbers payoff). It should be fair game. I spent way to much time at work looking for Glyphs to not be able to talk about it now.
Hi David
OK here are my thoughts
1. Do you consider content of US and Canadian "Promos" to be spoilers?
No, I don't consider these spoilers as these air during the credit sequesnce of the show and are seen by the majority of viewers. I might make an exception for the UK trailers once we catch up with you after the hiatus as most US and Canadian viewrs won't have an opportunity to see these and so they could be considered spoilers.
2. Do you consider content of the AOL and other Sneak Peek scenes (often available on YouTube) to be spoilers?
Yes, they are not part of the show and have to be specifically sought out.
3. Do you consider content of publications (i.e. Kristin at eonline, Ask Ausiello at TV Guide, "Doc" Jensen at ew.com, etc) that mention not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashback plans/etc to be spoilers?
Yes, same reason as for 2.,
4. Do you consider content of The Official Lost Podcast that mentions not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashbacks/etc to be spoilers?
Yes, but if something is mentioned that clarifies something in an episode that has aired then that is not a spoiler. Good examples would be the clarification of goofs (the hand seen with Kate's black horse, Jin's date of birth worng on the CV) or for example that Jae Lee did commit suicide as the writers clearly meant this to be obvious but realised in hindsight it was not as obvious as they had thought and therefore needed clarification.
5. Do you consider personal speculations on what might happen (based solely on past episodes) to be spoilers?
No, that's what lost is all about guessing what is going to happen next, obviously something like, "no I don't think that Locke is going to find the Island Kwikimart because he dies in episode 7" is not ok because it is based on a spoiler whilst "no I don't think that Locke is going to find the Island Kwikimart because that cut he got last episode looks infected and I reckon he won't survive" is ok because it is a theory based on an extrapolation of what we have already seen (or would have been if I had not made it all up!)
6. Do you consider content of The Lost Experience and inferences built off that content to be spoilers?
No, TLEC, the upcomming mobisodes and the official books (even if they are terrible) are not spoilers, they are all officially released parts of the Lost universe aimed at expanding the Lost universe, whilst they are not essential to understand the storythey are specifically aimed at the hardcore fans such as ourselves to give us a more indepth experience, and as nearly everyone here are TLE veterans, it is hard to consider it as a spoiler.
Well those are my thoughts, I think basically if it is an official release from ABC (excluding the podcast but that's mostly foilers and jokes - unless there really are going to be Zombies in Season 7!) then it's not a spoiler but I'll go with the consensus.
christine#2,
I sure hope we can talk about the promos (altough the jury is still out - an overwhelming majority may violently disagree) and I hope you'll stay around. :)
volsnvikes,
Thanks for coming out of the woodwork. I like the way you said it..."working with the same info I am". Thanks for that verbology.
Dark Angel,
Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad we agree on #1. Also appreciate your thoughts on the podcast...you made a good distinction between clarifications, foilers, and spoilers. :)
I'd love to hear from someone who thinks the promos ARE spoilers and how they would respond if we decide to encourage discussion of the post-episode promo. For example, I mentioned and several of us discussed "eyepatch" guy. Who was frustrated by that?
David said I believe we are tempted to look at spoilers b/c of our pride...we don't want our theories to sound stupid or to be proved stupid so we seek to inform them with inside information
That's a good point. I must admit to being a spoiler freak, but as you know from the podcast I also like making predictions, however I specifically avoid trying to make predictions on topics covered by spoilers (that's no fun) and I actually completely rerecorded by audio for the last podcast because I thought the first one I recorded for last week was just too spoilery!
Dark Angel,
I don't think you ever have to worry about sounding stupid! As long as I've known you, you've always sounded smart. Unfortunately I can't say the same for myself (train whistles & laser sounds anybody?)!
Here is my take on the spoiler survey:
1. Promos and/or previews aired by ABC should NOT be considered spoilers. ABC wants you to be enticed by these promos, to get you to continue talking and thinking about LOST all week. Nine times out of ten the previews are taken out of context and end up meaning something completely different than we thought anyway! LOL One cannot help but see these previews/promos all week if you watch ABC at all...they come up when you least expect it! Anything aired by ABC should be considered part of the show and open for discussion/speculation.
2. and 3. Outside sites and publications should be considered spoilers. They are not official ABC sites/publication. I agree with Dark Angel that these have to actively be sought out by fans.
4. I think the official LOST podcast should not be considered a spoiler. It is an official ABC podcast. A lot of time they clarify things (i.e., Jae Lee's jump, Gary Troup, etc. in the last podcast). The producers know better to reveal too much and actor's know that, too.
5. Speculation based on past episodes is what all this fun is about! Please don't take this away! LOL
6. TLE was an ABC-sanctioned ARG and should be considered part of TLC. The fun is trying to understand how TLE fits into the show. It expands our knowledge of LOST and should not be considered a spoiler.
Basically, anything that is put out by ABC should not be considered spoilers. ABC wants the fans to have a little more tantalizing information to continue the water cooler discussions from week to week...nothing of real content is given away...just enough to want you to come back for more!
Thanks for the putting this survey out there, David, and I hope it helps you.
Good luck and with your family situation.
Also, tlcm, our thoughts are with you, too.
Answers to the survey,
1. No. Promos are meant to be seen and therefore in my opinion are not spoilers.
2. No. The stuff that winds up on youtube and such are basically just the promos or other tidbits from abc.com and the like.
It would be a different story if these things were being taken from the editing room floor... but they are not.
3. Yes, Any mention of unaired plot lines and/or flashbacks I think are spoilers.
4. Yes. Again for the same reasons.
5. No. That is the core of lost discussions and this would be a silent blog if all you could speculate on was passd issues.
6. No.
Administrator said...
1. Do you consider content of US and Canadian "Promos" to be spoilers?
The "US preview" that airs the night of show, NO.
The "Canadian preview" and the "US teaser promos" shown during other shows, YES. The problem with these is they increasingly reveal more information about the show. Eventually, the next episode will air, revealing all of the next episode, but this also should not be discussed in the current episode's comments (i.e. Don't talk about Episode 5 in the Episode 4 comments).
2. Do you consider content of the AOL and other Sneak Peek scenes (often available on YouTube) to be spoilers?
YES. These are outside source revealing the future. They can be talked about after the episode airs.
3. Do you consider content of publications (i.e. Kristin at eonline, Ask Ausiello at TV Guide, "Doc" Jensen at ew.com, etc) that mention not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashback plans/etc to be spoilers?
YES. Anything mentioning FUTURE episodes is a spoiler.
4. Do you consider content of The Official Lost Podcast that mentions not-yet-aired actors/directors/plotlines/flashbacks/etc to be spoilers?
YES. Not all of it, only the part talking about the next episode. Luckily, it usually comes out the day before or the day of.
5. Do you consider personal speculations on what might happen (based solely on past episodes) to be spoilers?
NO. Of course not. I think this is confusing for some people. David said it best: It is totally fair to "guess" but it is unfair to "give away".
6. Do you consider content of The Lost Experience and inferences built off that content to be spoilers?
NO. I consider TLE a "past episode".
Here are the weekly ratings: LOST moved up to 8!
1. Desperate Housewives 21.24
2. NFL Post-Game 20.82
3. Dancing With the Stars 20.69
4. Dancing With the Stars results 20.02
5. CSI: Miami 17.83
6. CSI: NY 17.42
7. Sunday Night Football 17.33
8. LOST 17.09
9. CSI 16.82
10. Criminal Minds 16.77
It does make me "nervous" that "Criminal Minds" (opposite "Lost") made it into the top 10.
I guess some clarification needs to be made re: whether previews are spoilers or not.
The Canadian version of the previews seem to give away a little more than the US version. A lot of us don't have access to these promos on US TV.
I think US/ABC previews should not be considered spoilers, but Canadian previews should. Most of have to see the Canadian version through a link someone puts up. If you want to see it fine, but don't discuss it here. (Sorry for our Canadian TLCers...nothing personal)

I have added you to the LOST PUMPKINS FLICKR PAGE
If anyone else made a LOST-themed pumpkin for Halloween, e-mail me (lostchibbie@yahoo.com) your pumpkin photos. Thanks!
Amused2behere: Great job on your pumpkin! (Thanks for posting the pics, Dennis.)

LSHNEMB!!! :)
I really value the feedback. Keep it coming! Lurkers and Posters alike, please post your opinions today.
Maven,
Thanks for the sentiments. I will clarify that my family issues aren't unlike what everyone experiences but they seem to have come upon me all at once. It should have been gradual but I avoided some of the issues for quite some time. I'll be dealing with the things I'm dealing with right now for years but at the moment I'm just adjusting and have been a little distracted.
Glad I can trust you guys with this info. :)
Happy Lost Day, all!
David, thanks for grabbing the reins on this spoiler issue. It needs to be settled, and this survey is a good way to gather input. My answers:
1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes (but I do like it when people post to let us know when a new article is out there to read)
4. Two-part answer: Yes, if the content is about a future episode (e.g., their comment about whose flashback will be featured in Episode 10). No, if the content is about a past episode (e.g., their comments on Jae's suicide and who it was that got sucked into the plane's engine)
5. Big NO
6. No, it's an official part of the LOST universe, and its content was released in the past.
Dennis,
Did you post a comment earlier that was deleted? While catching up, I noticed some posts referring to something you said, but I could not find what you said.
Or am I just confused!
Dennis,
Loving the pumpkins (of course, "save joop" is my favorite!). Also loving the number 8 on your goat.
It's looking like the tricky thing is going to be differentiating between the 1 post-episode promo and others that air during the week and the Canadian promo. It will also be tricky determining what is and what isn't discussable (is that a word?) from the Official Lost Podcast.
I am more of a lurker joining the discussion. . . I would generally consider any info that our regular old TV provides about next week's show to NOT be a spoiler. Anything else obtained by another media source (internet, blogs, Eonline, etc) to border on spoiler territory. Don't know what to think about US promos vs. Canadian promos; that's a tough one. I certainly don't think people's opinions and speculations in themselves are spoliers; that's the point of blogging, isn't it??
OK, here's my vote
1. No
2. Yes and no, some of them push into spoiler territory.
3. I'm going to abstain, as I've only read one of these columns.
4. No, nothing that's felt controversial to me yet. It comes down to hints vs. straight facts.
5. No, not at all! And they're fun too.
6. No, because I feel that TLE was about show mythology and not about the future of the losties.
So, that's a lot of No's from me. I define a spoiler as something that is hard factual evidence, not available to the general public (before it hits the internet), and/or something that appears to occur more than one episode into the future.
Previews on ABC do not count. We need to discuss previews. If we didn't, I would have thought there was a dude in an alien costume instead of Eye Patch Guy. Previews are misleading anyways.

Yes, I deleted it. I was just ranting/complaining about all the spoilers before "The Admin" came back.
One more thing - the podcast is great. It gets more professional every time I listen. And you do a fantastic job of warning about potential spoiler material.
Spoiler Survey Response
1. No
2. Yes
3. Yes
4. Yes and No -- as others have said, post-episode comments are not, non-aired episode comments are, and it's not that hard to distinguish given Damon's insistence on falling back on the pre-hash, post-hash, re-hash gag.
5. No
6. No
As for the TLC podcast, I really enjoy it and David and Steve do great work, but I'd love it if they would do spoilers (as defined above) only at the end of the podcast. I know I missed some stuff from Steve last episode because I shut it off at the point they started discussing EW.
Dennis -- thanks for the great pumpkin pictures and for posting the AmEx stuff. You rock.
1. No*

Non-spoiler-related post:
My husband, being way into video games, reads a blog about games and gaming systems and such called Penny Arcade. The authors also make comics to go with each post. Today, the first two paragraphs and the comic are devoted to LOST:
I'm acting as Gabe's proxy in this strip - essentially, he's "broken up" with Lost. It's complicated by the fact that he holds weekly "Lost Nights," where Lost-themed snacks are sometimes offered, but he's come to conclusion that there's no story actually being told. He no longer believes that events are happening according to some overarching plan. Watching the show now is apparently awful, because where he once perceived a carefully revealed structure he now just sees a couple guys out back beneath a tarp, flashlights held under the chin.
I believe that this community helps us all to keep out of this state of mind.
And if anyone has any LOST-themed snack recipes, please share them.
Lifeobstacle -- how about trail mix featuring Dharma fish crackers and Dharma oreos, or now that the weather is cooling down, grilled cheese with an abundance of frilly toothpicks?
Mmmmmmm..Dharma Oreos...
Does anyone know where to get a Dharma cookie cutter at?
lifeobstacle..
how about island fruit salad and peanut butter finger dips
How about a big jar of mayo?
And I forgot, burnt muffins, soup and of course large orange fish bisuits and bear kibble. Serve with water, from a trough or in a Dharma bottle for your more upscale guests.
oh! oh! orange smiles
cattygirl, memphish, lifeobstacle,
Thanks for your responses.
cattygirl,
Can you expand on why you feel strongly about the Official Lost Podcast NOT being consider a spoiler threat? Do you think it should all be considered "aired" information even if they hint at things that haven't been seen on an episode yet? Mostly they clarify and tease but sometimes there are genuine spoilers (like when they talked about the episode 10 flahsback). I'd love to hear more about your opinion on the matter.
Admin,
I know your question was for cattygirl, but I just wanted to say that nothing in the podcasts has really revealed the future of the losties. When they talk about flashbacks that haven't aired yet, it starts good discussion for understanding a character. It doesn't say what that character will do on the island.
I think it goes back to the show's mythology too - all discussion about mythology and character's pasts seem fair game, because it still doesn't tell us what's going to happen.
A good example: we all know Dharma well after TLE but we still didn't know there were two islands until we saw it.
Hi Admin. David
I love your blog it's full of very nice people. I lurked at TLE this summer and decided to join when your made this blog.
Here are my thoughts on your spoiler poll. I am in the no spoiler camp.
1. No, I don't consider promos spoilers but the sneak peeks on the ABC site are sometimes to spoilery for me. (too much info)
2. I don't use AOL or youtube or any others unless there's a link to it,but in this case I pobably wouldn't use the link. As I said in #1 sneek peaks are sometimes have to much info.
3. Yes, I do consider this as spoilers. Other publications sometimes get carried away.
4. No, because I don't think they give to much away. It is their show. They mostly tease us which is what a promo is to me.
5. No, I don't consider speculation on past episodes spoilers.
6. No, since I played the game this summer I know most of the contentof that.
ratmanislost,
I think I could do that and will try to "spice it up" a little. Problem is, I would have to be very careful not to link into spoiler territory (which I believe I have done in the past). If I link into spoiler territory then people will naturally be inclined to chat about it in the comments.
lifeobstacle,
To respond to your question, here is an example. I'm afraid I have to venture into spoiler territory here to answer so...sorry everyone. Most people have heard that a main character will die before the break. By saying that ep. 10 is a certain characters flashback, we can deduce that this particular character won't die before the break. This knowledge relieves some of the tension while watching the episode and SPOILS some of the fun. See how the podcast contained a spoiler that we wouldn't want discussed in this forum?
Admin(David),
I honestly feel that Damon and Carlton tease us, but do not spoil us. If there is anyone who does not want to ruin the surprises of Lost - here are two people who won't. They guard, above all others, the information that they will release. I have been listening to the official podcast for a long time now and realize they play with the audience for the most part. Only certain questions are answered and some only receive a yes or no after much thought on their part. I think they mostly clarify some points for the fans or give us an idea of what will be important.
(Hope this makes sense... I have a killer headache that in not allowing me to think straight)
cattygirl,
Sorry about your headache. Did you read my response above to lifeobstacle? I agree with you that the podcasts are mostly teases but there are a few things they say that, especially combined with other spoilers, have the potential to ruin the fun of watching a particular episode. They are probably the least guilty party of all spoiler-givers but still...don't you think we should at least attempt to differentiate and discern what they're saying?
LifeObstacle,
How 'bout some cereal eaten right out of the box with no milk?
Admin.
You asked about the eye patch guy. As I said I don't think promos are spoilers. But when I seen Radzinsky is back or something like that (and I'm not sure it was your post or someone else's) I got a little put off cause it seemed to be stating fact and I felt I had been spoiled and I would have liked to maybe figure that out as I was watching. But after I calmed down I relised it wasn't fact but just speculation and I was cool with that.
maybe we should start creating Lost Island recipes and create a web page to host them. I have a recipe for orange jelly slices aka Orange smiles and I could probably come up with a cookie recipe for peanut butter finger dip. I created a pumpkin cheesecake recipe last year for thanksgiving that my family adores.......
I like to bake
sayid'sgirl,
Yeah, it was all speculation. But it was speculation based on the promo. The promo contained content from an upcoming episode and could be considered a spoiler. However, it seems like everyone agrees that promos are NOT spoilers. So we should be all good.
Sorry you went through a period of frustration b/c of me.
tlcm,
Great ideas! What about a dish called "Ranch Dressing Explosion" or "Why is Libby Attracted to That?"
