LaFleur - Season 5, Episode 8

In tonight's episode, Sawyer and other island survivors perpetuate a lie to protect themselves from mistakes of the past.

Secrets? Lies? Mistakes? Must be Wednesday!

And this week, a little something for the ladies - Sawyer in a snappy DHARMA jumpsuit with the logo conveniently hidden. Sawyer Workman maybe?

...Did anyone else think that Sawyers explanation of what had happened to them sounded like the plot of Find815.....

I mean the official plot, rather than Sam's agenda.

A prediction :

I've got a feeling we'll be staying in the village with the DI for quite a few episodes, probably up to the end of the series. The Orchid station will play a big part in this and will lead up to "The Incident"

When I say Series, I mean Season, i.e. the end of this years episodes.

They may have been divorcec or she may have been killed or kidnapped.

Even though the Cabin Fever popups say Olivia was his wife. I never got the feeling she was.

Also Damon may have mis-spoke when he said friend. It was kind of a silly question after 5 seasons. Where did Ben Linus come from etc.?
I think they were having fun with it because I don't think they could believe someone was asking this, this late in the show.
I just assumed if she was his wife he would have said wife and not friend. Even if he was having fun.

My post was directed at memephish questions.
Blogger wouldn't go past 400 for me and I didn't know Zort had posted after me.
Congrats on viewing in HD zort.

It will probably be awhile before I view in HD. My set isn't that old so it probably won't go out on me for awhile and I can't see spending money on a new one when I have one that works just fine.

I may change my mind. But we'll see.

Well I'm off to Disneyland for 2 days with my family (including 17 mo old Elizabeth!). So in a way, I'm enjoying this no new episode week! Sorry about that...it's all about me!

Have fun in Disneyland Maven.

No it's all about me, because we're down on the Redneck Riviera this week for Spring Break. So I too am glad there's no new LOST this week. Although downloading LOST podcasts directly to my iPhone means I'll be more than caught up on when the show returns. Great feature!

I'm willing to give up the Olivia thing as simply being the need of a new actress and enough caginess in previous story-telling to make her "Not Horace's Wife." But it certainly calls into question the reliability of the pop-ups. Not that they weren't already somewhat questionable since their origin story is still pretty vague. I'm even willing to buy into alternate timelines, one with Mrs. Olivia Goodspeed and another with Mrs. Amy Goodspeed. In fact I hope Horace has not met the Linus family.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I'm with you, memphish - my feeling was that Olivia was meant to be Horace's wife, but Samantha Mathis was not available again (according to imdb, she has three movies coming out this year). Having never said explicitly in the show that they were married, the writers just went with a new wife.

Although the divorce theory could also work - I don't think that we ever actually see Horace and Olivia together on the island.

Well they are '70s hippies after all, so they could have just been shacking up. Free love and all that. :-p

By the way I loved the little tantrum by Miles saying that he was fed up of going back and forth between the Orchid and the beach.

A sentiment I myself expressed a few weeks ago.

Miles comes across as a frustrated leader, but doesn't have the courage to take up the reins and lead himself.

Have a good holiday all that are holidaying, I'm going away at the end of March so I'll be even further behind than normal that week.

I'm just watching the episode again and I love the Dharma Sheriff logo.

That last scene did send goose bumps around my body, I think it's that music that does it, but it could be that I'm just an old softie :-)

While listening to Lostcasts discuss Charlotte's disappearance and they're speculation about dead people staying in the time where they died, it makes me wonder if Alpert's Others including Alpert, Cindy and the kids are also dead. Or maybe that vaccine mimics deadness.

Join Hosts David A Dein and Steve "The Goog" Guglich as they unlock the mysteries of Lost. Along the way they postulate that the island may be inhabited by Gelflings and offer song dedications to their friend Kyle.

Wow! Heard another thing on Lostcasts I had failed to put together. There's a war coming and you need to be on the Island. Widmore is talking about this period with DI and the Hostiles! That's the war. Duh! Only problem, we think Locke is in 2007/8. As I speculated earlier the Losties are there to head off the Purge or at least the ascendency of Ben. Because Alpert wants to annoint Locke. Locke needs to get back the 70s/80s and fast and leave that bug-eyed Ben behind in the 21st century.

no way ceasar is amy's kid, i think it's ethan, ben said ethan was born on the island, if the DI did their birthing off island then that might explain how ethan is one of the only ones of the right age to have actually been born on the island. This would mean that Ben looked out for ethan and brough him into the others

i think ben and horace are on the same side, if ben usurped lockes leadership role it's all thanks to horace who found him as a baby and later brought ben to the island. Ben closed the eyes on horace corpse after the purge and he didn't even do that for his dad. SO it would make sense if Ben was looking out for horace's son(ethan)

just as locke couldn't harm widmore, nobody will be able to harm young ben because he has inserted himself throughout the timeline to the point that he can't be taken out easily. This is probably the heart of the "rules", widmore has to let Ben stay alive because he is a player in future events as well as widmore.'

Ben obviously doesn't have favor with the island still atm. Jack and the 05 as well as lapidus seemed to be unscathed from the ajira crash, but ben seemed to barely make it, just like barely beating cancer

i guess the question is did charlotte move on to her proper present time 2004, when she died or did her body stay in the previous flash time. Either way it explains why locke is in 2007, he was alive in 2007 and died in 2007

i like the idea that widmore wanted locke to join the 05 back in 1977, thus didn't want him dead. Ben wanted to tweak things and killed him so locke would be dead or be in 2007 on the island.

sun being in 2007 is the only thing that i can't figure out, either its because she was the only one of the 06 that actualy left the first time around, or because she had yi yeon in the three years and it somehow tethers her to the present, or probably more likely the shot juliette gave her makes her not subject to the flashes like richard cindy, ect

i think olivia either died or left the island and they will probably turn out to be horace's first wife

has anyone ever thought that perhaps richard wanted paul's for other then revenge reasons, his ankh may show he is someone important that had to die, perhaps horace and paul are more sympathetic to the others then they let on. I know they had to bury the bodies for truce reasons, but part of me always thinks that certain people need to be be buried so they don't come back to life and maybe richard needed pauls body for that very reason. If there was a truce there had to be a reason the others were attacking amy and paul?

I agree that Cesar doesn't look like an Amy/Horace offspring, but I felt like he was the right age at least. Ethan could not be only 27 and a surgeon. Wait, he could if he did a Doogie Howser program, but that's pretty much the only way speaking as the wife of a surgeon who went through residency with him.

I'm afraid that you're right 2Costa about taking out Ben, but I still hope they can take him out. I really like the idea though that getting Locke to the DI days would keep Ben from assuming leadership though. And that would totally explain why Locke killed him to keep him from flashing with the other O6.

The thing about Sun. Maybe she can't go to the 70s with Jin because in the 70s she's supposed to be in Korea and so is young Jin. If she crosses with him in the wrong timeline maybe world's collide.

Final Olivia note, yeah right, she is in Ben's timeline as his teacher, so until we see Ben she should still be there.

Sorry for the giberish in that post. Let me try to fix it.

I personally think that burying the bodies was firstly to hide them from the others that might come and look for them, but mostly so that they would not be resurrected and go and tell Richard that they had been killed !

No one likes a dead tattle tale :-)

Zort70 said...

Just listening to the podcast, and I can't believe they are cancelling Lost !

Zort70 said...

Podcast again, with Richard getting through the fence, it must affect dead people because Mikhail was affected when he walked straight through.

My personal feeling is that Richard used an ancient tunnel, possibly from the temple.

Ellen said...

Zort, that was just a rumor. Lost is NOT cancelled. Please don't joke about that. I know a lot of people would be totally pi*s*d about that! David and Steve were kidding...although I did not find it funny...:(

Sorry Ellen, I was just as dismayed for a few moments, but to put people's mind at ease it is a joke.

Listen to the Podcast to find out what Ellen and I are talking about.

Yep! The podcast is great as always...

hehe...my heart dropped when I read your comment. That's one way to get people to listen! I just don't know what I'd do if they cancelled Lost. First I'd boycott anything ABC, then I'd start a campaign for a worldwide boycott!!!! Let me stop. I just can't even think about that anymore without breaking into a cold sweat...:D

It makes my heart pound even thinking about the series ending naturally when planned, never mind a forced end.
