if sawyer didnt jump the chopper would have crashed within the islands sphere of influence and gone with the island, i wonder that if this has played out before, maybe Ben's special interest in sawyer was making him more of a leader so that he would sacrifce himself this time around, and to lay the seeds in kates mind to have to go back to the island.

in the yahoo7 lost site on the secret clue it asks "who does claire not want kate to bring back to the island", i feel it is locke or jack and not aaron, beacause if it is aaron it wouldn't be a secret clue.

maven said...

I saw that, Capcom. Seems like J.J. is true to form using a big corporation...Hanso, Tagurato (sp?), etc. I'm watching that site.

lost2010 said...

Oh, he's redeemable - but first he has to sober up. Maybe it's like Samson and when Juliet shaved his chest hair she ruined him. You'll notice he's missing his chest hair in Eggtown. All we have to do is wait for it to grow back and he'll turn back into Action Jack. . . . .:)

lost2010 said...

2costa - Maybe it's Ben.

2costa said...

ya 2010 that would be cool if its ben, but im leaning towards locke, since locke is the one that just visited kate before she got her call and vision of claire. The only reason i put jack on that list is because he was asking her to go back. Ben would make sense though, he was exiled and they want it to stay that way. I feel Widmore must have been the old exiled leader and thats why he sends surragates to do his dirty work...

2costa said...

and if locke is anything like christain, bringing his body to the island might mean he could be residing in jacobs cabin or be jacob when he gets back to the island...

Morning. DarkUFO (the ODI) has posted some new info about what might happen at Comic Con. If you don't want to know and consider this info spoilery, don't read it.

Capcom said...

Thanks Maven! I don't mind game spoilers like that, good to know we have something to look forward to. Heehee. :-D

Twinkle said...

Ooooh! I found another one! In the Bathroom Reader "Wonderful World of Odd" they printed (it could also be a reprint) an interesting tidbit about Jeremy Bentham!

"Bentham was a famous 19th-century English philosopher. When he died in 1832, he left instructions with a surgeon friend that his body be decapitated, mummified, dressed in his everyday clothes, and propped up in a chair, and that a wax head be placed on his neck to give the corpse a more realistic appearance. He further instructed that his real head also be mummified and placed at his feet, and that the whole arrangement be put on public display. The corpse and its head(s) can still be seen at University College in London, where they sit in a glass case specially built for that purpose."

Well, it's a shack not a glass case but do we know any other corpses that like to sit in chairs?!!

memphish said...

Nice link Twinkle!

I read a book this weekend that mentioned a Jeremy Bentham Pub in London. It's on University Street off the Tottenham Court Rd. near the University of London. I lived in the area one summer long ago, but unfortunately don't remember THAT pub.

Hey gang...here's something to keep us busy until Comic Con:
Josh Whedon is putting on a 3 part internet "movie" called Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog. It's a musical superhero spoof. This starts on July 15th and a new part goes up every other day. You can read about it on Nikki Stafford's blog. The trailer is funny.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Hi, everyone! I just had to show off the little cutie that will be coming to live with us next week! We can't wait to get her!

memphish said...

Very cute ML. What kind of dog is she? And what's her name?

memphish said...

Wow! Check out ABC's Lost Book Club.

Melissa_Lossa said...

memphish - she's a beagle, and her name is Lucy.

Wow - I can't believe ABC posted their own book club. Looks like we have our work cut out for us!

Capcom said...

Psssh, copy-cats. But that's a very impressive categorization of the books that they did at ABC! I also like how they used images of beat up old books for the old ones too. :-)

TakesaVillage said...

Melissa_lossa;
For some reason The ABC Book Club wouldn't load for me,but without even looking,I know ours is better.
Nice new addition. You may want to watch The Puppy Olympics next Month, but you may have your hands full.(http://www.eveningsun.com/portlet/article/html/render_gallery.jsp?articleId=9107378&siteId=140)&startImage=1

maven said...

Lucy's a cutie, Melissa_lossa!

Well, we definitely seem to be on the right track with the Lost Book Club! About time they followed us! LOL

Capcom said...

Well, the ABC list has all the books listed with their references in three ways. And all scrollable and stuff. But they've got money to spend on fancy-schmancy websites. :-p The LoCos did it first.

I definitely have to show your new baby beagle to my nephews next time they're over ML, they luuuuv beagles! :-D

maven said...

I do like how they've got the books classified: On the show, dialogue and background. They also list which season the books where in. They're really looking to do some selling...

LOL:
As I'm typing this my local ABC news station's entertainment reporter just did a piece on the new ABC Lost Book Club on-line! He said they'd be adding to it as episodes are aired.

Capcom said...

Wow, weird Maven. :-o

I've made some updates to the Lost ARGs blog:

• The address is now just LostARGs.com (but you can still get to it through LostArgs.blogspot.com)
• I've changed the look. That 80s Nagel look was bothering me. I'm still working on it, but I figured I should catch up on the posts first, and make it look pretty later...
• I've added two new posts covering OGR

I'm planning three more new posts for the OGR email, the Hans Vaneeghan email, and the Mystery Talks site.

Is there anything else I'm missing so far? Let me know if you have any questions, comments, ideas - or you want to help out!

Thanks!

Dennis: Great (and thorough) job! Do you want to post something about the "spoiler" infro from DarkUFO re what might happen at Comic Con?

The semi-finalist lists for Best Actor and Actress in drama are out for the Emmys...no one from LOST is one them! :(

I just posted the first video of my granddaughter on my blog. Check out my great camera work! LOL

Hey Dennis, you and Ange are making it really hard to wait for the new ARG.You guys are the best.
Maven;
Great video and pictures.Elizabeth is getting cuter everytime we see her. She'll be joining us in The Lost Book Club before too long.
Did you try using your picture package(photos file in your computer) as your screen saver?
Since my Son-in Law showed me how,
I spend alot of time enjoying the great family memories, and smiling faces.
What, no Emmy nomination? That's frustrating.Maybe we still have hope in other categories though.

Mellisa - Beagles are my favourite type of dogs, we had one when I was growing up, in fact it was the same age as me as my parents got it just before I was born.

Ours had an odd habit of eating 1 pound notes (that was when 1 pound was made of paper and was worth something !)

i dont know if anyone ever mentioned it before, but i noticed another star wars reference from lost. I caught a few minutes of the beginning of return of the jedi on spike the other day(btw what was with the revamp on the number jabba's band did, really didnt fit the tone of the movie),well some one said about the prospects of luke saving them all from Jabba, "luke cant even save himself, let alone anyone else"i'm paraphrasing, and that struck me as to very simuliar to what old doc ray said about daniel farraday," farraday can't even save himself". Its no surprise i know Damon is quite a star wars freak.

p.s. did they just edit the scene where luke does jedi mind trick on gamorian gaurds to gain entrance into jabba's palace or was that cut form the new version altogether. I liked the better looking rancor monster, but at the cost of the new guy in the band, the new song, and all the other stupid tweaks. They even changed the ewok song at the end and put hayden christianson as an astral projection instead of the old annikin. Obi Wan's projection(alec guinness) was still old wtf is afoot. ANother thing that reminded me of lost was host complicated the rescue plan was, i beleive leia intended on getting caught, it's almost like a Ben plan in the way that luke pretty much relied on R2 throwing him the light saber on the skiff, how did he know all these other events would fall into place, the force maybe(yoda could tell how things were gona shake out as well) or was it all by the seat of his pants?

Capcom said...

Interesting detail and SW reference, 2costa!

I hate all the new changes to the original SWs, don't even get me started on that! I wish that they sold DVD versions of the originals also, for those of us who liked them the way they were. :-p

Melissa_Lossa said...

Boy, it must be summer - it's so quiet around here!

I just wanted to chime in and agree with 2costa and capcom. I am anti the new versions of Star Wars! I miss the old Ewok song. :(

Melissa_Lossa said...

Oh, and I'm waiting to hear back from David on our first podcast date, for Of Mice and Men - I'll let you know when I know!

lost2010 said...

capcom - The Star Wars DVD set I've got doesn't have the changes. At least not the ones to Return of the Jedi. It must be an old set.

Capcom said...

Well I'll have to keep looking till I find that one then Lost2010, tx for the info. So far I've only seen the changed ones on DVD. That gives me "A New Hope". :-p

lost2010 said...

These came in a gold and black box and came out right before the first of the new ones was released. (They now reside in my son's room who still can't quite figure out why the "later" ones have slower light sabers.)

when doc ray washed ashore with a freshly stiched cut on his face instead of a scar, many of us theorized that his body was going to an earlier state. That led us the think that perhaps locke could walk again because his body was from an earlier state when his back wasn't broken. Well what if christain's body as well has gone to an earlier state where he is still alive. I think the scar on doc rays face was important, there has to be a reason that christain's body has never been found and as i said at the time the shack locke finally found christain at wasn't the moving shack that hurley saw, it was the physical cabin(same cabin bricks and mortar version so to speak" that horace built that was in a specific place on horace's map. This lead me to think that maybe ,had they not buried doc ray ,he might have been reanimated eventually, maybe the key to mikhails staying power as well. This all leads me to beleive that maybe reanimating locke on the island may actually be possible, part of me thinks he may just have a temporal presence like christain, but still be dead but the doc ray scar thing may lead things into a differnt direction...meaning the actuall reanimation of lockes seemingly dead body.

It sort of reminds me of the princess bride where miricle max brings back the dude and says he's sort of dead and not really dead. Maybe christain and locke are just sort of dead?

btw burn notice was kick ass any of you BSG fans they got the girl cylon on there as mike's handler

Capcom said...

I'm so confused about Doc washing up how and when he did. He must have slipped back in time to open his face gash...but he then also slipped forward to the place when he was found on the beach dead, at the same time as being alive on the freighter. So he slipped both ways???? Sideways???? Ugh.

memphish said...

Yeah Capcom, I don't get how the scar goes back in time, but not the slit throat.

Capcom said...

Right Memphish, I forgot to mention that too, why didn't the condition of his slit throat change like the other gash?!

Too bad it didn't heal to its pre-slit condition, so then Doc could have washed up onto the island alive with just the fresh face gash. That would have freaked Keamy out, seeing him alive after killing him, heheh. :-D

My brain says, "Waaaaa!"

maven said...

Doc's injuries are definitely there for a purpose, somehow showing that time moves differently between the outside world and the island cocoon. I'm with you guys, Memphish, Capcom and 2Costa, I just can't explain exactly what they want us to know!

Zort70 said...

2Costa said ...he might have been reanimated eventually, maybe the key to mikhails staying power as well.

I've always thought that if people "die" on the island, and that their bodies / minds remain mostly intact that they can be bought back in some form or other.

But bringing them back means that they inhabit (haunt ?) the island forever, that is possibly why they had that cremated at sea funeral in season 3 (Picketts wife ?). The inhabitants may make their prefence clear that if they die they don't want to hang around forever.

That could be what Alperts group of others is, a set of people who have died but are still living on the island.

memphish said...

Lost got a best drama Emmy Nomination. No major acting noms, but I haven't seen the supporting list yet.

memphish said...

Michael Emerson is the only actor with a nomination. Actually Juliet Burke's bus hit ex-husband does too, but for Damages.

Giacchino got a nomination and they got several other editing, etc. type awards, but amazingly not a nomination for best hair.

memphish said...

Lost got 7 nominations in all. Mad Men, a favorite of mine and Capcom's got 16.

memphish said...

Here's a link to the nominations if you want to check them out yourself.

lost2010 said...

capcom - I got hooked on mad men this summer when on demand put up all the episodes. When does it come back exactly and on what channel?

Oops - Lost related - -

In rewatching the pilot, I'm struck by the fact that no one that Jack has to save makes it off the island. Kate, Sayid, Sun, Michael, Walt, Hurley - they survived in their own right. The exception is Aaron. Does that mean that the one thing Jack was there to do was save Aaron?

Zort70 said...

It's amazing or nigh on impossible, to believe that the story was that mapped out at the start that the pilot episode contains references to the future plot and possibly some of the biggest story lines.

I know they could have fitted in some of the story around elements already in the pilot but even so it is something that makes Lost stand out from everything else.

Even Babylon 5, which had a definite story arc mapped out, had to deviate from the original pilot for all sorts of reasons. Lost has managed to steer a straight (winks knowingly) course.

Capcom said...

"The inhabitants may make their prefence clear that if they die they don't want to hang around forever,"(concerning the cremation). You might have a point there Zort!!! :-D

LOL Memphish, about best hair! As distracting as that was to me, the ladies really did look nicely coifed this season.

I think that Mad Men starts up on the 27th, Lost2010. Big opening weekend that; Dark Knight I think, X-Files, and Mad Men. :-o

Capcom said...

BTW, welcome to the Mad Men club Lost2010! A lot of the characters' slips in morality make me wince, but overall they seem to be showing it as examples of how *not* to live, because those people's lives are really messed up because of it. We'll se how it goes this season.

lost2010 said...

Re Madmen - As I explained to my husband - these people are horrible - but somehow you can't help but like them. We went from "This is kind of boring" to "Hey, let's watch the next one" in the course of one episode.

I'm also a big Mad Men fan! Can't wait for Season 2.

maven said...

I don't either! :(

Capcom said...

Weeeee, I got mine! Here's a new site in the note:

www.dharmawantsyou.com

Capcom said...

P.S. there is another link that's for people attending only, but if you click on it, it automatically registers your email.

lost2010 said...

Mine came through so we must be up to central time at least. . .if that's how it rolls. There doesn't seem to be anything you can do with it til July 29th - is that right?

Capcom said...

Right.

On DarkUFO, someone got the source code from the letter page (how do you get the webpage from the letter?) and found this:

…If you’re reading this, wanna hear something cool?
I’ve got intel about his little “recruitment drive.”
They’re doing some kind’ve personality/IQ testing or something down in SD for ComicCon.
Buddy of mine works down there and has the approvals for their “booth,” he says once you go in no one knows what happens inside and you need an appointment to get in. He also said to make sure you’ve got your Bluetooth on and visible – he’s rigged up a little something.

The whole thing sounds like elitist B.S., doesn’t it?
Well, I’m getting in that booth and taking the test.
As many times as I have to before I “pass” (whatever that means?)
And then…
If I can?
I’m gonna tape it so EVERYONE can see what these idiots are up to.
Should be fun, right?
See ya in SD. RuckusGuy OUT.

Capcom, to get to that message, click the link in the email where it says if you can't see the images click here. Then from that webpage chose "View Source" from your browser. Here's that page. To view source you left click and choose that option or in my browser I can choose it from the menu bar.

Don't forget, I have all of this information up on LostArgs.com :)

Lost 2010 said... Mine came through so we must be up to central time at least.

I think it probably depends on when you signed up. I signed up right when the site launched, then again later with a different email.

I got my first email at 5:52:30 AM, and my second email at 12:48 PM (both Eastern Time Zone)

Capcom said...

Ooooooooh, tx Memphish. I know how to get to the source info from a webpage, but I didn't bother figuring out how to get the page from the letter. Thanks a bunch.

maven said...

Well, it's 4:50 pm in LA, and I still haven't got it! I was one of the last ones to get the other email, too!

The RuckusGuy seems like he'll be recording what happens in the tent, and will be posting it on Monday! Is he the new Rachel Blake? LOL

Capcom said...

Right Maven, and who's son is he??! :-D Hope you get your email soon.

Did you all sign up for the email for the Fringe clue yet? Check it out over on FringeTV.

memphish said...

I was thinking maybe he's the old Rachel Blake. What if Rachel and Alvar are trying to restart the DI to make up for THF's previous indiscretions?

maven said...

Oh, it would be great if we basically take up where we left off in TLE1! Trying to start up the DI again!

Capcom said...

That would be great Memphish and Maven. We know that TLE1 was left in a sort of to-be-continued mode, with that last threatening message from Mittlewerk on the Hanso site.

In real life, corporations try to erase any evidence of a failed project so the fatcats can say they never failed, and pretend that it never happened. Then they'd start a new one with a new name, even if the new project has the exact same mission. But I'm glad to see that TPTB have the DI working again, fantasy corporations are more fun. :-) Maybe the DI will "explain" what went wrong before, and their shiny new mission statement.

But if Hanso is in charge, who is the bad guy at the helm now, for Ruckus to fight against? This Hans guy? Or is Ruckus the bad guy? Hmmmm. Can't wait for more info this weekend!

memphish said...

Don't we need just good guys for a change Capcom? :-) After all everyone on the TV show has turned out bad or at least badly.

Capcom said...

That would be very refreshing indeed! I'm kind of hoping that this Ruckusguy is just an anti-corp jerk trying to spoil Hanso's work on the DI's rebirth, and that the DI are on the level this time around. But I guess that wouldn't be very interesting.

Unless the DI's work is good, and Ruckusguy is Mittlewerk in disguise and Mittle's still trying to blow up the good guys and kill off the 30% of the population. :-)

Capcom said...

Dangitt, why did I think that Comic Con was this weekend? And I thought that Dark Knight was next weekend. Waaa, I'm all mixed up.

Tess315 said...

I don't check my email one day and look what happens. :)
Yep I was wondering if Ruckusguy is going to be the new Rachel Blake too.

maven said...

Finally got it! Now I feel part of the club! LOL

Happy (late) Birthday, Sayid's Girl!

Is anyone else finding Lord of the Flies to be a bit of a slog? I'm having a really hard time getting into it.

Ange said...

It was like that for me too Melissa Lossa. But, I think it was because I had read it in highschool. I did do a bullet post already because I got way ahead on reading for some reason on the last hiatus and had all of my notes ready to go :).

For me I was just frustrated with the boys, but did find it got easier to get in to as I went.

lost2010 said...

Lord of the Flies is a pretty good 'book on tape' read if you have a long commute. The version of if I listened to had an excellent narrator - I could have listened to him read the phone book, I think.

It gets a lot more interesting the further you go - wierd and gruesome - but interesting.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I think I'm right on the cusp of where things start to get weirder. I read it in high school, too, but I remember very little.

Your bullet points are great (as always), Ange!

maven said...

I enjoyed the book.

FYI: Julie Bowen (Sarah) has a role in "Weeds" as a love interest (lol) for Silas. She looks great.
