The Beginning of the End - Season 4, Episode 1

Let's take a look at ABC's synopsis...

"Feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don't know whether to believe Charlie's final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets..."

Vague enough for you? If we really want to know what's going on we're going to have to do what we do best: Watch, hash, and re-hash everything. In preparation, what are the questions that we should be asking going into this episode? Here's to Season 4!

Shot in the dark here, but could Naomi's sister be Ms. Klugh?

Perhaps, like Juliet's sister, Naomi has wondered for years what happened to her sister who joined this company to do research, but never came back. She joined another group that was looking for several "lost" people and they tracked them to the island.

it will prolly be in the preview commercials during the week, but its nothin important anyway, other than tying into the fact that the freightys atrent who they say they are and charlie already told us that

I was reading Vozzek over on Dark's site (memphish linked it earlier) and he was talking about Ben looping in time a la Mrs.Hawking/Desmond. We've talked about that before and that maybe that is why Ben is always one step ahead. So I started thinking, what if Jack's and Hurley's "we've got to go back" refers to looping back in time to change things. Ben said the freighter people would kill every living person on the island. So maybe that will happen and that is where the guilt surfaces from, etc. Maybe Jack is trying not only to physically get back, but also trying to loop back to when they crashed so that he can make the choice not to contact the freighter. I don't know....these random thoughts just pop in my head.

acewebguy: Interesting thought, but there are two snags. 1) the accents. 2) Naomi is telling someone off-Island to send her love to her sister. I'd think, if anything, Naomi would be telling Jack and Kate, since their feet were on Island soil already.

i think they never said they were there to save the 815'ers they were their foe desmond and since penny didnt send them they must have intimate knowledge of the island caus eonly hanso or widmore or dharma knows desmond was there pushing the button, i just knowin my heart that locke saw something after he pressed 77 on the cuomputer and he was gonna say something to mikhail about it right before the flame blew up and coupled with his distinct hatred of mikhail(throwing him into the sonic fence) even though hes forgiven others for wrose and his cageyness about what happened to the sub and the fact that he was dry when he went insid ethe sub but wet when he blwe up the pier makes me think he hid the sub and that was a secert clue for season 3 on the yahoo australia lost site. it also explains why locke who couldnt muster the balls to kill his father who threw him out a window knifed naomi like it was nothing , is because locke know far more about the freightys than we have been shown

We need a new post!

maybe but i think its because time moves slower on the island so if jack could find it he would be in the past on the island, that what makes me think that the sub is how the oceanic six escape and not the freightys, they have no motivation to say anyone survived

Hey, Morelost, I like the idea that the O-6 have to all do it together to get back. Like saying that specific conditions of a portal have to be satisfied for it to work. Maybe once you've been there, it's easy(er) to get back than for someone who hasn't been there. Makes it kinda more Scifi, but I still like it.

this also opens up the whole time travel thing like a twisted game of operator, for instance if somebody left the island lets say 50 years later maybe 200 years passed so they coul get info about the present and go back to the island and be back in the past and thats how everyone is battling through the time line and the ultamate skynet type overlords of the island and the world had the swan in place to protect the timeline, but ben wanted to open the timeline back up so he could make small tweaks, i have have always though ben was privy to the timeline, but i think only up to a certyain point i think now he is improving because he came to the end of his knowledge and much like dead zone the evil guys were paitng visions to desmond to fight bens tweaks to the timeline, because ben would have won had the signal stayed jammed

Hey guys! There's a new "lag alleviation" post up. We can move the comments discussion over to the new post.

thats why his prediction wont come true about every living person being killed because the tweaks that have taken place have already changed the timeline that ben was working from and that because desmond had the failsafe key because kelvin was very improtant prolly working with hawking ansd i used to think hawking was goo but i think she is working with the bad ones and ben is the lesser of two evils. When kikhail killed one of TLG girls he said he was follwing orders but not bens the original recruiters that are probably the common boss of the frieghter people, that why he waited for xcharlie to unlocke the signal before he flodded the hatch, totally opposite of what ben wanted, it also explains why ben always seemed pissed that mikhail kept coming back, and if youll recall mikhail saved naomi's life out of nowhere has to be more than a coincidence. I think that somewhere along the lines ben made a pact with widmore or mittlewerk and that is how they got recruits like mikhail and thats why they called mikhail a lyalist, loyalist to what or who certainly not ben. Ben sent him to make sure charlie was taken care of not the looking glass girls

I agree with Maven...Does anyone think the freighter and maxwell group are going to start the experiment again and this is what the six know or are there old demons coming back like addictions, running from the law or mental illness coming if they are off the island? No I haven't seen any spoilers. just guessing..

OK, so i just watched episode 1 of Season 4 of Lost.

Does anyone else think that the funeral in the last episode of Season 3 is Hurley's funeral?

Just a thought I had, considering that Jack and Hurley seem to get on pretty well together in Hurley's flashforward. Also, Hurley says to Jack that he thinks they made the wrong choice by leaving the island. Maybe when beardy Jack gets depressed, he starts to think Hurley was right all along, and that they should have stayed on the island.

I watched a clip on the ABC LOST site about the filming of the scene in the interrogation room...that is indeed Charlie swimming and holding up his hand with "They need you" written on it, though the actual actor was a stunt double for Dom Monaghan.
