DarkUFO has footage of the new LOST video game. It looks AWESOME!!!

Dennis said...

Lost is available in HD on ABC.com's web player

http://blogs.abc.com/fepblog/2007/07/hd-streaming-ha.html

maven said...

Thanks, Dennis! That game looks so exciting. Can't wait!

Dennis said...

DarkUFO really dropped the ball on the JJ Abrams coverage. They JUST got inside Comic-Con! LOL.

I think I'll settle for being nice and early to the LOST panel.

Better get in line now!

maven said...

Well, Dennis, to be fair: DarkUFO is totally more LOST oriented. He hasn't really been covering Cloverfield.

memphish said...

Besides, if you blinked, you missed it.

Capcom said...

Yowza, great poster shot on the Live Lost page!

2costa said...

i dont see how that spoiler is even a spoiler, c'est la vie. Any good news from comiccon?whats the deal with cloverfield is it tied to ethan haas or was that just a mix up? I used to smoke cloverfield unfiltered, packed a wallup, or was it chesterfield...

maven said...

DarkUFO has a few posters in the hall now sending pics....

maven said...

Did Totengraber get into the hall?

maven said...

G4 just announced exclusive interview with JJ Abrams and secrets of LOST! (Don't know when, though!)

Dennis said...

Totengraber made it to the Cloverfield thing. I got a few text messages from him like "What's Slusho" :)

I assume he's probably headed for the Lost thing now...

Dennis said...

Shoot! I'm missing the G4 comic-con coverage!

Luckily, it will replay at 11:00pm

Joseph Finchum said...

What's Slusho...

You sent someone who isn't following Cloverfield... to report on Cloverfield... what's up with that?... lol

Dennis said...

I just got a text message that Totengraber made it into the Lost panel! Woo Hoo!

Dennis said...

Beggars can't be choosers...

maven said...

Tapdawg is posting from the panel over on thetailsection. Put up a good pic.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Ah, Tapdawg! Makes me nostalgic for last summer. :)

Thanks for tuning in to the podcast tonight - I think it went great! When we get an official book club posting tomorrow, I will post all of the questions we discussed.

maven - you ducked out before I had a chance to tell you that I got my new Lost figures in the mail yesterday! Mr. Melissa's going to take some photos for me, and then I'll post them on my blog. They look awesome, although some of the poses and soundbites are a bit odd.

maven said...

Lucky you, Melissa! I agree some of the pose choices are weird...Sun in the bikini pose seems a little strange to me, but it will probably sell! LOL

Capcom said...

Melissa, I thought that many of the poses were odd! I would have much preferred to see a Shannon doll standing and screaming! :o)

And how about a Jin figure doing a high kick towards Patchy's face! Yeah!

When are they coming out with the VW van figure???? :-D

Still waiting for my Desmond dollie too, it had better be perfect.....and wearing Hurley's big T-shirt dress maybe. :-x Or doing situps in the Swan.

memphish said...

Capcom, you are being naughty tonight.

Capcom said...

To be fair (and good), I would also accept a Dez doll in a friar's outfit too, that would be cool. Also, maybe with him holding a bottle of the wine.

memphish said...

So far there's one interesting Q & A.

2costa said...

anyone find out the dharma info thats supposed to be revealed at 5:58 est

memphish said...

They're running late. No word yet.

2costa said...

i just had a flash, I never really could figure out why ben let walt and mike go, cause it is not because he is a man of his word. He got rid of walt for the same reason he shot locke and left him in the pit, because he can commune with jacob, probably, and would eventually be a challange to ben's primacy...

2costa said...

and the 815'ers would have never gave up looking for him, but thats not to say that mike and walt left the island or the area..

memphish said...

They're running the Dharma video now.

maven said...

When do we get to see it?

maven said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
memphish said...

Maven, I hope they'll post it at abc.com. We'll have to wait and see.

memphish said...

It's a new orientation film - a new name for Candle/Wickman and the Orchid.

memphish said...

The Orchid is used to clone bunnies! Didn't they say we'd never hear the word clone in connection with LOST?

maven said...

Cloning of bunnies??!!!?? I thought "clone" was a dirty word! LOL Maybe that's why Richard is so young...he was cloned!

TakesaVillage said...

Candle/Wickman/Hourwax...hmmm

maven said...

Don't we get enough rabbits without cloning? LOL

memphish said...

So the film of the bunnies was found in Norway which is an icy country. Linked to the polar station at the end of S2?

Here's the Watch with Kristin description:

Clip is Martin Candle, getting makeup done. Bunny! Evil bunny! It's about bunnies! Bunny #15, to be specific. Marvin = Dr. Edgar Halifax, station six, the Orchid. Not a botantical research unit. Sorry about making you like. Kasamir effect, unique properties of Island. Jacob subliminal message. Bunny riot. Seriously. Alarms ring. Upside down bicycle. Filmstrip slides off reel.

maven said...

Sounds like this "Orientation Film" was just a shoutout to all the crazy fan theories. And Hourwax? Come on...seems like a little joke by Damon and Carlton.

memphish said...

One blogger I read said it implied that the bunnies caused the shaking. Maybe it's THE INCIDENT!

memphish said...

Bye all. My eyes and refresh button are tired.

maven said...

All in all, a lot of hype with very little substance!

Melissa_Lossa said...

capcom - Des comes out in the third wave of figures this fall. :) I think there's also Sayid, Claire and Ben.

Sadly, the figures are not movable, so you can't put Des in any pose you like. ;)

Amused2bHere said...

I think I'll get a Jack figure, a Kate figure, Sawyer, and then Lara Croft. And maybe Ben.

the possiblities are endless.

>>G4 just announced exclusive interview with JJ Abrams and secrets of LOST! (Don't know when, though!)<<

It'll be interesting to see what Abrams has to say.

Dennis said...

maven said... Don't we get enough rabbits without cloning? LOL

Wouldn't rabbits have the same breeding problems as humans? That would explain why they would need to clone them...

2costa said...

seems like that orientation was the stuff i thought was supposed to be in the finale that explained how marvin lost his arm

maven said...

Dennis: Aren't rabbits known for multiplying rapidly? It was just a joke! Anyway, Tapdawg is now saying that just seeing rabbit 16 and rabbit 15 in the video led him to say it was cloning. "We then pan to another area of the room and see another bunny magically appeared on a high shelf... the thing is, this bunny has a number 15 on his side as well. Hence why I mentioned early the cloning properties of the hatch)."

Memphish,
I love when you go phishing. You cach the best tasting phish.

When I was reading about The Casimir Effect, one word stood out;Jacobian. Being mathematicaly challenged, that path took me nowhere, however some of the old mathematician's theories were interesting, and his picture does look a little like Jacob.
Podcast was great ladies,and David.
Totengraber, thanks for the Comic-con updates. Let us know how the experience was.

Tess315 said...

I wish.
I'd love to see it too.

Capcom said...

You're very funny Melissa, and I mean that! :-D

Wow, a new orientatino video. TPTB do love us, don't they. Sigh. Can't wait to see it!

2costa, that's genius! That puts a new slant on them getting "more than they bargained for" with Walty. Which would more accurately be, more than Ben bargained for or could stand!

Capcom said...

BTW, the appearing rabbit that Tapdog talks about reminds me of the Tesla experiments in The Prestige, where instead of transporting the hat and cat, they just kept duplicating them. Maybe the DI/Others are materialy duplicating people with The Box (instead of cloning), since they can't breed. :-p

Tried to read the wikipedia link on the "Casimir Effect" but it is way over my head. But this was interesting though:

Casimir effect and Wormholes
---------------------------------
"Exotic matter with negative energy density is required to stabilize a wormhole[1]. Morris, Thorne and Yurtsever[2] pointed out that the quantum mechanics of the Casimir effect can be used to produce a locally mass-negative region of space-time, and suggested that negative effect could be used to stabilize a wormhole to allow faster than light travel."

Could this 'mass-negative region of space-time" be where Jacob currently resides?

Could they be using the Casimir effect to create a wormhole to an alternate reality where the island is located?

Transcript of the Lost Panel.

memphish said...

What do people think about this:

A random good piece of information: Lost most likely will be moved to Friday when it returns in February. Damon dropped a subtle hint during the first part of the panel saying that it would be nice to go home on Fridays and watch Lost.

This is from Tapdawg. It's the only place I've seen it mentioned.

Tess315 said...

memphish
I read that from Tapdawg, but I seen it somewhere else too. I've read so many different transcripts from so many differents site I couldn't tell you where I seen it though.

2costa said...

the cloning might extend to cooper to maybe he was just a copy of cooper to get their jollies on. Maybe the body that jack was transporting was christain's clone. If the orchid is the "magic box" it would make sense that a rabbit could clone itself since thats the main thing that rabbits want to do

2costa said...

i cant wait til they fire up the worlds biggest particle collider next year maybe they will open a worm hole or black hole. I heard they might be able to extend the periodic table to the 300's

2costa said...

i keep thinking my avitar looks like al bundy with an eyepatch

Twinkle said...

Ha! Maybe the only way you can get to the island is to be copied and have your original die. That would explain the other plane.

I think I'm joking.

memphish said...

Maybe there are multiple copies of Mikhail and he has actually died 3 times on the Island now, but when 1 dies it activates the next clone. :)

Twinkle said...

Thanks for the transcript, memphish. Is there any other better than usual stuff that I should read too to catch up or was that pretty much it?

Twinkle said...

Wait, are we talking about the Others or the Cylons?

Tess315 said...

Here's a small article on Casimir effect that not to technical. I found it interesting anyway.
Casimir effect

Oh and before I forget again. I haven't seen luckyguylikeme here in awhile but I'd still like to say Happy Birthday! in case you're out there peeking in.

2costa said...

oh and mikhail was still breathing after the sonic fence they show it on the australian lost site secret clues, and he had the ear blood when he reappeared, so probably not a clone, but perhaps the smoke cloned rabbit 15 and started f'in up the orchid. Maybe it was just the form the smoke chose to take?

2costa said...

I have always thought that the cooper that sawyer killed was the smoke he was just to confrontational, a true con man would try to con his way out of it even if he thought he was in hell...plus cooper was hiding in mexico after he threw locke from the window so he was rather easy to find in florida for a man on the run...

2costa said...

even a clone would not have the number on it already unless the engineered the follicles to be gentically predisposed to being black in a number pattern. I have always thought the smoke could do stuff like the holodeck on star trek

2costa said...

thaey have the orchid up with no sound on dark ufo
http://darkufo.blogspot.com/
the rabbit on the shelf didnt have a clear enough veiw to see if it had a number on it and i noticed a dude rding a bicycle upside down spliced in and i think a building

2costa said...

i really didnt get the sense that the rabbit was causing the chaos, maybe, but the way he was all good after made it seem like an earthquake or volcano explosion. it just seemed like the vibrations made the camers swing over to the rabbit on the shelf

2costa said...

isnt an orchid a fertility symbol in some cultures so it would make sense if the breeding thing is involved

2costa said...

well off to see simpsons with the seeds...

Capcom said...

This Orchid film is too great! Whoodathunk we'd get something like that on the break! It really gives us something for our brains to chew on, for sure. Thank you TPTB!!!

If they can duplicate people/things at will, that would explain a nubmer of problems or mysteries! Including Patchy! And if Cooper was merely a duplicate, as 2costa mentioned, it would explain why Ben would be so nonchalant about having Locke kill him...because he wasn't the real one anyway. Not saying that's what it is....just saying. Wow. This is awesome. Can't wait until someone gets a clear and close copy of the film on Youtube, or TPTB put it up on ABC!

BTW, I just got back from seeing the scifi movie "Sunshine". It's very good. Kind of on the level of 2001, with a bit of The Fountain, Alien, and some Solaris thrown in. The camera work and style are very interesting. http://www.foxsearchlight.com/sunshine/

Capcom said...

BTW2, I hope that someone at the Con can get a transcript written of the Orchid film soon.

memphish said...

I kind of worry about the "canon"-icity of the Orchid film. After all it is not family-friendly. And don't we already know of 6 stations -- Swan, Arrow, Staff, Pearl, Flame, Hydra Is the Orchid just a Comic Con joke? I read somewhere it may show up in the mobisodes, but I find it hard to believe an f-bomb is going out on the mobisodes.

memphish said...

And I forgot about the Looking Glass.

DarkUFO has a closer version of the video. It looks like the cue card has the Barracks logo. Just the word Dharma written across the middle. And it looks like Marvin/Mark/Edward's lab coat has a Swan logo on it.

It is very, very rude of TPTB to give us a fake Orientation film when we've had no content since May and have no content release date at this point prior to Dec. 11 for the S3 DVDs. Are they trying to try our patience? If so, the move to Friday, if legit. may be the end of the end.

Capcom said...

Yes, if the Orchid is fake and not really a part of LOST at all, I think it's kinda mean. Unless, they expected us to realize that it was a fake, but cryminee, TPTB must know how much we would love a little bone thrown to us over the hiatus. I also didn't appreciate the unbleepedness of it. A bit unprofessional IMNSHO.

memphish said...

ABC.com has The Orchid Video up and sanitized replacing f*** with h*ll.

There's not an Orchid logo though. There's the Barracks logo on the card and Edward Halliwax is wearing a Swan logo lab coat.

It definitely reminds me of The Prestige as Halliwax is holding Rabbit 15 another Rabbit 15 appears. He says they have to be kept apart and he's mad that the cameraman filmed it all.

Amused2bHere said...

Whew! finally caught up.

I have an idea about the Orchid. Perhaps there are more stations than we realize, but there are only 6 that have Orientation films. So far we know:
#3 Swan
#4 Flame (blast door map indicates it's #4)
#5 Pearl
and now #6 would be Orchid

Although we have heard of or visited the Staff, the Arrow and the Hydra, we have not seen Orientation films for them. Maybe the Arrow or the Staff did not need films.

Just a thought.

Amused2bHere said...

I am going on the assumption that although produced for fun at ComicCon, this Orientation film clip contains some canon clues to S4: The "Casimir effect", and especially the appearance of an identical #15 rabbit with all the chaos of "don't let them near each other! When did you set the shift?"

Here's a question--
Could the Casimir effect have anything to do with why you aren't supposed to meet yourself if you travel to your own past?

I like the idea of the duplication instead of cloning, a la Tesla's box. That could explain the bodies in the plane near Bali, why Ben is so non-chalant about death, the nature of Ben's Magic Box, and more.

2costa said...

there is no way that is fake it was just not finished or something. Maybe 15 is a type of rabbit instead of a specific rabbit or clone. Like i said i dont think it was the rabbit maybe a magnetic anomoly caused it to happen, but if desmond was copied it might explain why he was naked whe3n he woke up or why locke could walk if they made a copy of him...Simpsons was super funny and I am not as into it as i used to be

2costa said...

i think locke was mute for the same reason that julliette was when she arrived, and the other two that were around the swan charlie and eko have since passed on. It would seem odd that karl and alex were eating rabbit if the island rabbits were that powerful. Much as zeke implied that the polar bears are super inteligent then maybe the rabbits are intelligent to. Maybe forces like jacob need a living host to occupy that need not be human, like the boar that seemed to be smart or how vincent is all smart. Maybe forces like jacob inhabit the animal life on the island like animal spirit guides...

Anything that has to with physics or technology or anything like that is completely over my head. But hear are my thoughts.
I think they have or are trying to create faster than light travel.

The Casimir effect is one of several phenomena that provide convincing evidence for the reality of the quantum vacuum – the equivalent in quantum mechanics of what, in classical physics, would be described as empty space. It has been linked to the possibility of faster-than-light travel.

According to modern physics, a vacuum is full of fluctuating electromagnetic waves of all possible wavelengths which imbue it with a vast amount of energy, normally invisible to us. Casimir realized that between two plates, only those unseen electromagnetic waves whose wavelengths fit a whole number of times into the gap should be counted when calculating the vacuum energy. As the gap between the plates is narrowed, fewer waves can contribute to the vacuum energy and so the energy density between the plates falls below the energy density of the surrounding space. The result is a tiny force trying to pull the plates together – a force that has been measured and thus provides proof of the existence of the quantum vacuum
The paragraphs are from the link I posted above.
I think if I read correctly you need negative engergy density to achive this. Which ties in with when did you set the shift and the assistant answers negative 20. Then he asks how long. She answers nine minutes but were still learning how to...
I don't know what causes the Casimir effect at first I thought it was the identical rabbits and thats why he didn't want them close together. I agree that sounds pretty lame but I got it from this sentence. Casimir effect
A small attractive force that acts between two close parallel uncharged conducting plates.

I also so read somewhere that the plates had to be identical (hey they were identical rabbits :)

I don't know why but the video at ABC is edited from the one at Dark UFO. Right after he says The field you have selected to study is highly volital and potentially dagerous you hear a sucking sound like a pneumatic tube and you can see slightly glance back at this sound. They edited the sound out but he still looks. So my thoughts were maybe the rabbit arrived throught a quantum vacuum. I don't know like I said this is all over my head but interesting. So this is so long been awhile since there has been anything Lost to talk about. Where's engineer27 when you need him. :)

Tess315 said...

That was so long it had typeos at the end volital should be volitile (just bad spelling) dageous is dangerous and it should be you can see him slightly glance and So should be Sorry this is so long.

Amused2bHere said...

thanks, Sayid's girl.

I still don't get it, I agree it's way over my head.

I read at the tailsection that the Orchid orientation film is considered canon because ABC posted it at their site as Special Preview of Season 4.

It still could be a joke. But as I said before, I still think that there are S4 Clues in it, even if it turns out to be a joke.

memphish said...

If the Orchid is a real Dharma station, why doesn't it have a logo? That's the thing that stands out to me.

I do think that the Casimir effect is in play and whatever it was that happened to that bunny. Makes me wonder now about Bunny #8 in "Every Man for Himself."

Tess315 said...

Here's something else.

Understanding the Casimir force

Although the Casimir force seems completely counterintuitive, it is actually well understood. In the old days of classical mechanics the idea of a vacuum was simple. The vacuum was what remained if you emptied a container of all its particles and lowered the temperature down to absolute zero. The arrival of quantum mechanics, however, completely changed our notion of a vacuum. All fields - in particular electromagnetic fields - have fluctuations. In other words at any given moment their actual value varies around a constant, mean value. Even a perfect vacuum at absolute zero has fluctuating fields known as "vacuum fluctuations", the mean energy of which corresponds to half the energy of a photon.

The sentence that stood out to me is the one I put in bold print.

Thanks for the link Memphish! Keep the bunnies apart? Like matter and anti-matter, Captain??!! :o)

I think so too Amused, maybe it was a jokey presentation, but TPTB might also have given us some real material within the joke. Pleezopleezopleeeez.

Right Sayidsgirl, where is Eng27 in our crucial science clue moment?! :-) Am I getting the definition for Casimir effect correctly in that, within the vacuum, in the space between the plates, the plate-space creates a sort of second vacuum of it's own? Because of the fewer and smaller particle waves in between it compared to the waves in the "ambient" vacuum around it? I worked with plasmas in vacuum chambers at work, but naturally we never utilized anything like this, although looking at the electron scope image of the ball on the plate, it could maybe be used for semiconductors some day down the road to make them faster. Someone know how to get in touch with Eng27????? :-}

Memphish, maybe we just haven't been showed the logo for the Orchid yet. I can't wait to see the graphic for it. I bet some phonies are made up and posted soon by peeps.

BTW, what's that white thing that falls down near Wax-man's head, is it another bunny? Is it raining bunnies? I'd rather that it was raining Desmonds, halleluiah. Hey, I could make a song about that!

Capcom said...

Did anyone post what the words are that flash during the film?

Capcom said...

Skip that last Q, I just saw it on DarkUFO.

memphish said...

Capcom, I think the thing falling on our scientist's head is something that the 2nd bunny #15 knocked off the shelf when he appeared there.

I like the matter/anti-matter idea. Guess I better get started back on Brief of History of Time this week.

Capcom said...

Tx Memphish! Hey, let us know if Brief History gives us any clues, as it would justify an unplanned re-read if so.

You know, as sleazy as Ben is, maybe he really did kill bunny #8a, and he took duplicated bunny #8b(or #8z) to the cliff with Sawyer. Grrrr, the big bunny killer!

Tess315 said...

That sounds about right to me. You sound like you know much more about it than I do. However they seem to be talking about a quantum vacuum (not sure if that was mentioned in my looong post) which I have no idea what the difference in the two would be. Maybe something to do with time and space.

2costa said...

its no joke, the jacob reference shows that mittlewerk/mittleos connection that is was found in a hanso headquarter city, yet had splices about jacob. I also think that jacob might be magnus hanso's essence. He would be the grandfather of dharma. I heard they showed a clip of ben saying the others were a rogue sect at comicon

memphish said...

I like it 2Costa. Jacob is a Hanso. Maybe he's a Hanso between Magnus and Alvar if not actually Magnus. There's something on the blast door map about Magnus's "known final resting place." Maybe it's the Little Cabin in the Woods. ;)

Capcom said...

Tx Sayidsgirl. I have no clue either about the quantum part, except that perhaps it's just refering to vacuum on the sub-atomic scale. Like the way Einstein's relativity explains the "big" physics and quantum theory is the study of the small physics. We're on the hairy edge of my limited knowledge here so nobuddy laff! :o) So compared to a regular vacuum on the millitorr scale, maybe the Casimir affect involves a vacuum at a much higher maybe even unmeasureable scale at the sub-atomic level? I think that we need some help from Brian Green here. :-)

Yeah, Memphish and 2costa! I would love it if Jacob was Magnus or any Hanso in between! And maybe the cabin is where he lived out his life after the crash and is indeed his final resting place. Except that he's still kind of there...in and out of phase once in a while.

Capcom said...

Thinking more about a vacuum on the extreme Casimir level, I wonder, theoretically, how low can a vacuum get before it sucks it's physical instrumentation or chamber inside out? I'm joking of course, but maybe that's how the Casimir affect would suck something through a wormhole into another dimension? :o) Tththuppp!!

2costa said...

dont they use some of these magnetic properties on the super fast trains they build now that use magnatism, where the train is actually levitating over the track.

2costa said...

i think the most important thing about the orchid video is it is filmed on the island, yet found in northern europe, yet still has splices of jacob and other weird stuff like the 23 film which cements the others/mittlewerk conection in my mind at least. If radzinsky liked to edit orientation films then where does the room 23 film and orchid fit in?if this was on the island at the time of the incident how did it leave the island and end up in hanso hands, there was also a splice of the building that alvar chilled in, which could have been lifted from the swan of pearl film. Maybe the orchid was a island video ransom note from ben and the others to the hanso foundation, that could be why the jacob thing is in there? Maybe an F.U. from radzinsky to the foundation

i just had a revelation. What youve bee saying is prolly true that anti matter and matter cant touch or all hell will break loose, but what if the other 15 rabbit is just the same one from another moment in time, sort of like how desmond physically went back in time when he turned the failsafe, and as many have mentioned maybe the swan was more to imprison the timeline, so that nobaody could go back and triffle with the timeline, ben seems to know stuff about the timeline, but the flash i had was how when ben took locke to see jacob the lantern broke, but when he left it was fixed again, much like how everthing is all good again after they get rid of 15 in the orchid. JaCOB GETTing pissed was just like the orchid too, which must be tie to the flashlight's magnativity

Tess315 said...

MATTER & ANTI-MATTER

thats why shit falls from the sky and thats why if they touch it makes for a bad time. its the same rabbit, and they're not supposed to exist in the same spot at the same time.

This is a post from Dark UFO on the Orchid Video. When I read this it reminded me of the Star Trek episode The Alternative Factor Where there are two of the same man one matter one anti-matter. They can not both be in the same universe at the same time or both universes would be destroyed. So Kirk traps them in a time corridor where the fight each other forever.
So if the two # 15 rabbits are matter and anti-matter then maybe the the two # 8 rabbits were too and Ben really did kill the first one.

Justin said...

The question "How much of a vacuum do you need to have before it starts sucking in its container" is absurd. A vacuum is a vacuum. You can't have "more vacuum", that's like saying you have 0 and want to make it "more 0".

Anyway, for those wishing for a layman's definition of the Casimir's effect...

A vacuum, in the conventional sense, is just "nothing". If you have a box with no air, no particles...nothing...then you have a vacuum.

However, come the bizarre new worlds of Quantum Mechanics, scientists found out something quite strange. Sometimes, a lot of times, in the middle of a vacuum a particle (known as a virtual particle) will just "appear".

Out of nowhere.

I'm not going to go into the complexities of this phenomenon. Particle/anti-particle stuff. Most virtual particles flicker out of existence right away, anyway. But the fact stands that even when you have the perfect vacuum, there's always fluctuation...as in, there are particles popping in and out of it everywhere, like a dizzying dance.

But how can something come out of nothing?

The explanation of this, and the evidence, is found in the Casimir effect.

memphish said...

Thanks for the vacuum talk everyone. My only true vacuum knowledge is related to Kenmore and I don't even like to use that one. :)

I thought matter and anti-matter merely destroyed each other, not everything around us, so that if matter bunny #15 and anti-matter bunny #15 got together, both would disappear. They'd cancel each other out because all the waves and troughs of their matter would sum out. But I didn't know it would destroy things around it.

And 2costa, I don't think that's a black smoke head, just a lot of black hair. :D

this is definetly pre-incident cause candle's arms are both good. if you look in the first nine seconds there is fat guy with a rat tail haircut walking from right to left. The alarm that sounds sounds just like the swan clock so it would seem a logical leap that when the button was not pushed it created this matter/antimatter time vortex/wormhole, which would explain why pushing the button might have been saving the world

2costa said...

perhaps this all explains the numbers on the rabbits or else you couldnt tell the matter /antimatter bunnies apart

memphish said...

I'm going to post this link in both threads because it's not related to a Comic Con spoiler, but it is theory oriented which we've gotten on this thread. Capcom, I think you'll like it especially.

Ben Lundy's Ultimate LOST Theory and his Q & A about said theory.

Ange said...

I finally saw the new orientation video (being busy just sucks for Internet-ing) and I have to say memphish I am really digging the tie in of ideas from The Time Traveler's Wife, even more after seeing it.

Also, Lostpedia does have a transcript Here

2costa that pic looks like a woman scientist with black hair, with her head turned sideways to me.

Ange said...

2costa, to piggy back on what you said about the bunnies and the Docs arm seeming to be okay. Maybe he is like #15...we've seen three doctors so far (Marvin Candle, Edgar Hallowax, Mark Wickmund). Maybe they are all the same person, just some have been affected by whatever is going on with the Casimir effect.

2costa said...

ange i think their differnt names are tied to the way that they lie or deceive each hatch occupants about their missions. This was obviously not finished because they had all the behind the scenes clips and didnt have the keen dharma intro on the other orientation film. The god loves jacob edit is just like the radzinsky edits because it is over the part where candle descibes the field or properties of the island. I did have a simuliar thought though ange about locke too, that he is a version of himself with the use of his legs from an earlier time perhaps

2costa said...

i agree too ange that it could be a huge fro, but it is odd looking photoshopped even and if you turned your head klike that you would see some of the persons neck in the front. this cashamir/rabbit stuff almost has me thinking jacob is locke again

2costa said...

the locke theroy about his legs could be true, because towards the end of desmonds flash back to england he started remembering everything from the future. I guess it reminds me of how billy pilgrim in slaughterhouse five can remember his whole life whenever he flashes to a differnt time in his life, and i guess the lostesque way that he is in the hospital with someone that has the kilgore trout short stories in the porn mags that have the story of the elders of tralmaphrdore that see time all at once insead of linear. Im paraphrasing here but kurt describes it as they look at a song or book all at once and admire the entire piece for its peaks and vallies. Rather than start at the begining and takeing the ride to the end...

2costa said...

the most future part of billys flash too reminds me of lost where he is in a space zoo with some porn star being observed by aliens

memphish said...

Here's another interesting blog especially the post about time. One interesting idea in it was that for every time Charlie cheated death and got an extended future, something (like the ability to swim) in his past changed.

me too ange, i try to get by with meadowlands and burn notice, big love

Ange said...

Heh costa, I have been watching 4400 in bulk and just sort of trying to figure out what the heck else to look at. Big Love is on my list.

Lostpedia mentions that this Orchid film might be a parody (no proof it is canon). What was the orientation film from Comic-Con last year, that was no spoof was it?

2costa said...

i think it is real,i dont see why people think its fake, i am also curious about last years film. Ange your best bet is meadowlands it on showtime but you can download it at torrentportal or torrentspy. 4400 is just ok in my book, but meadowlands is really good. BUrn notice is really great too ange thats on usa and big love is better this year than last

2costa said...

ya but abc.com has it listed as preview of lost i think it would say lost spoof and why would they pay the acter to do a spoof cmon. plus there was supposed to be a scene in season 3 showing candle lose his arm so i bet this ties in

Hey, great discussion today everyone! And thanks for all the links as usual Memphish, I'm going to read them now.

Man, this new Orchid film has got me all riled up too, eeeeeeeeek! God Bless TPTB for throwing us a big fat juicy bone. XO!

BTW, I saw the movie Rescue Dawn today, and Dr.Candlewaxwick is in it briefly as a VC(?) official that throws the navy pilot into the POW camp.

memphish said...

Morning LoCos. I think we need an official ruling on whether or not the Orchid Orientation video is a spoiler or not, or an "allowed to talk about spoiler" so that we can consolidate posts once again. The rest of the stuff that came up at Comic Con could only lead to shot in the dark speculation, but the Casimir effect and what happened to the bunny could keep us going a little while I'd guess. Admin, Dennis, what do you think?

And speaking of the Casimir effect -- could this explain the plane in Bali as well as the one of the beach? David and Goog, this is right up your alley.

For non-spoilery speculation, today on my blog questions left by "Raised by Another" like why is Hugo's nickname Hurley?

2costa said...

ya ange i just couldnt work year round if i had to. I need a lot of me time. Did anyone notice in the orchid film in the beginning the black bottle in the background is full and after the bunny stuff it appears almost empty, maybe related to the dark liquid on jacobs window ledge. It also seems like the assistant said there is like a 20 second delay and something about eight minutes. Someone points out that they hear the swan clock before the rabbit shit hits the fan, what if the orchid is behind the blast door in the swan they they couldn't open. After stuff wnet bad they closed it off and left the swan clock to avoid cashamir effects by venting every 108 minutes, to enslave the timeline as they know it. AS i have said before the two prvious scenes that the orchid remind me of are the fact that desmonds experienced a cashamir effect when he turned the failsake and the scene with jacob how the lantern was fixed when ben left jacobs love hutt.

2costa said...

why do u think they took out the countdown swan clock sound out of the orchid video on abc.com?

Ange said...

2costa it seems they edited a lot before they put the video up on ABC. Lostpedia says they edited for language as well, so *shrug* maybe just making it more user friendly.

memphish, I agree about a spoiler ruling, as I keep forgetting which comments I am in. BUT there are so many layers of spoilers it's hard to draw the line. I would have preferred to not know about Michael, but I am not sure how that would ever be avoided before February! Also, watching the Comic-Con panel could be considered spoilerish, but they really didn't give up much of anything. Maybe Dennis should make the final decision on that.

Finally, from the Comic-con panel they say that the show had never been about getting off the island. That has me excited on so many levels, and I just can't wait to see where they take us next season!

Capcom said...

Hi Locos, hope everyone has a good week.

I myself don't think that talk about the Orchid film is a typical spoiler, as it's given to us by TPTB as a part of the whole mythology, such as Sri Lanka tape was given to us to give some back storyline on the HG and DI and the Island. But that's just me.

The Michael info didn't seem like a revelation to me, since it has been pretty much hinted at since he left that he could be back for more, in flash-whatevers or subsequent story for him (as well as how to deal with Walt's stretching within the timeline). To me, that was a non-reveal reveal.

But again, that's just me. And I am being very spoiler conscious during the break, I don't want to know much of anything before S4 starts up.

Capcom said...

2costa, that was a great catch and theory of the film and Jacob-jars. I have to go check that out.

2costa said...

thanx capcom i try, i think i say the bottle orchid thing on darkufo, but tying it to jacobs jars was all me. it reminds me of a comicbook guy quote(simspsons spoiler) when he thinks about his life of comicbooks and comic-cons on his seeming death bed, and remarks "thank u God, for a life well spent"

2costa said...

i agree about forgetting the spoiler thing with comicon info, the current logic would have made the entire lost experience a spoiler for the show..

memphish said...

There's a couple of Comic Con things that I'd consider spoilers that I don't think we should discuss with people who've been avoiding this thread. For example, the info. about Jack and Claire's relationship; the implied info. about Libby's return and relationship to Dharma; and the possible non-casting info. of Alpert. I'd also say that we should avoid speculating about the circumstances of Michael's return. For each of those things, it's not like we could bring something new and non-spoilery to the table.

But the Orchid video info. is there for us to dissect and apply retroactively to the first 3 seasons.

I believe there was some info. that this Orchid video will be one of the Mobisodes. I guess we also need to decide if the Mobisodes are going to be considered spoilers or not.

2costa said...

totally ageed memphis, the orchid and mobisodes are the only thing i think are not spoilerish, because they were released now and soon for us to watch and discuss like the tle... it takes two minutes to watch so its not like its a big decision and it is only about island mythology as far as i can see

2costa said...

you tlc tptb should make an orchid thread, it big news for losties. Dark ufo has the orchid on its news page with maybe a spoiler alert. Not that you should run your site like that but just to gauge how spoilerish people think it is. If you make a thread for orchid and hardcore losties can avoid it then so be it, its on lostpedia too, if im not mistaken they dont put spoilers up there, or casting speculation. I really hope everyone doesnt treat the mobisodes like spoilers that will take the fun out of disscussing them with the whole lost community when they come out

ib4uc said...

Hey Locos! It's been soooooo long since I chimed in but wanted to say 'hey' and I'm still around in lurk mode. Great discussions, as usual.

Does anyone have news on tlcm? I was thinking about her last week -- I hope she's doing OK.

Until next time...

Amused2bHere said...

I'm ok with keeping anything ComicCon related to this thread, although as the months go by it might be difficult not to mention the Orchid stuff.

Memphish you may be right maybe an Orchid Thread is the answer. But even calling it that might be a spoiler, eh?

memphish said...

Sorry I was clearly unclear. :)

I don't think the Orchid is a spoiler. I think it may be the first (or one of the mobisodes) and therefore canon though never aired on the show. Therefore, I think we should be able to discuss it in any thread.

As for the other Comic Con stuff like casting news and what we may or may not see in S4--that I'd call a spoiler. We could use the message board to discuss them when this post gets too far away in distance and memory.

Hi ib4uc!

It's been great catching up tonight on the Casimir theories. I agree that the Orchid video is cannon. The bit of news that bugged/interested me the most was about Alpert leaving the show. He's probably my favorite Other.

Twinkle said...

I'm reading Ben Lundy's stuff. It's so obvious now! I was just reading the other day about the quantum affect where present observation changes the past actions of photons in a classic experiment I can't recall right now but has to do with whether a photon chooses to be measured at a wave or as a particle. The article further speculated that the reason the universe is set just so perfectly to establish and maintain life is somehow related to their being a consciousness now to observe it, the causality reached into the past. This is similar to Eko's desires and the island's powers affecting the past to pull his brother there, as Ben points out.

2costa said...

cane will be canceled

Tess315 said...

Speaking of Alpert and casting. I watched a preview on line of a different show I can't remember the name right now that had another Lost cast member in it. Which made me wonder about this person's fate on the show.

memphish said...

Doc Arzt has a take on what's going on in light of the Orchid video. I'd love to hear what this group has to say about his ideas. I especially like the idea that no one can leave the Island because they might run into themselves which begs the questions what about Michael and Walt and what about Alpert's ability to leave and return to the Island.

Ange said...

Thanks for that link memphish, that time theory is pretty good. Different loops being nudged into different directions.

That would explain how Flight 815 could have been located in the ocean WITH the bodies.

Also, I have a kooky theory about who Kate has to get back to in the finale, and reading what Doc Arzt says kind of supports it. What if Kate has to get back to JACK, but she is also meeting with a different version of Jack (from another time or loop). See, I still an muckling on to the Time Traveler's Wife thing and think that maybe there can be more than one version of the Losties at a time jumping around.

memphish said...

Hmmm Ange -- could be. I guess the "I've got to get back to him Jack" wouldn't be a surgeon anymore because he might disappear while operating. But then wouldn't there be 2 Kates too? Maybe there's a future Kate in jail leaving this Kate to live her life.

Ange said...

Memphish: Maybe the Kate we saw is future Kate, and the dirty-grubby-Sawyer-lover Kate never left the island!

Ange said...

LOL, yeah now I'm just confusing myself a little, but trust me, in my head it ALL makes sense;).

memphish said...

Oh Ange, you're making my head hurt. :) I'd have to say I don't think pill-popping bearded future Jack will return to the Island to find another Jack. I think the future Jack we saw was the one on the Island and that he left the Island and now wants to return to the Island. Whether or not there's another future Jack in LA that we haven't seen, well that's possibly still up for debate. Maybe a second Jack in LA would explain the "hero two times over" statement by the new Chief of Surgery. But there being two future Jacks could mean Christian is still alive? Now my head really hurts.

someone pointed it out on darkufo, but in all the films marvin name is related to candles
marvin CANDLE
mark WICKman
edgar halloWAX

p.s. i saw a clear version of the swan film and the smoke head is a black guy turning his head, the wierd thing is in the orchid it is cropped to be just degroot and that guy in the frame in the swan it is degroot froguy and a guy to the left, seems strange to crop the picture differntly

Carlton had to say: "Some people speculated that [going forward] the show will be set in the future and then flashbacks to the present, but no, we aren't changing any of the format of the show. We are just adding the flash forwards as an element. They have made a radio call to a freighter, and there are people on that freighter, and it might be logical to imagine that that storyline will continue... The situation is going to be very intense this year. Charlie wrote on his hand not Penny's boat, and the message he wrote on his hand was very important. It was really funny because [ the clip at Comic-Con showed] Mr. Friendly saying, 'by the time you see this, I'm gonna be dead, but I am telling you it's a shame because whoever is going to come after the Others is going to be a hell of a lot worse than we ever were.' Damon and I were listening to him and sort of nodding our head going, 'That's pretty prophetic.' "

does anyone have video of this from comicon????

2costa said...

this is a comic con q/a
) "What questions are fans not asking that we ought to be?"
Carlton: "Who's in the coffin?" and rings the bell on himself. D.L. and C.C. ask Harold, "Who do you think is in the coffin?" Harold thinks it's the person with the teenage son...probably Locke! Damon would ask, "Who's on that freighter out there, and what do they want out of the Island?" Carlton would ask, "Okay, Kate and Jack got off the Island? Did anybody else get off the Island?"

since when did locke have a teenage son seems like mike in the coffin, when they first revealed the article saying the coffin dude has a teenage son i imediatly thoughts mike and he was from new york and that was before they were courting him to come back or at least the speculation

2costa said...

Q) A fan named Aaron asks, "Can I call the monster Cerberus?"
Damon says...On the blast-door map, C.V. stood for Cerberus Vents. "That's Dharma's name for it, maybe. Cerberus is one of it's names." Damon: "Aaron, may I call you Cerberus?" Aaron-Cerberus: The monster seems kind of seems like it represents judgment. Why did Eko have to die? Damon: The whole deal with the monster will be definitely answered. Carlton: The monster answer is "not going to be 10 seconds of blank tape."

so cv on blast door map stands for cerebus vents seems like smokey to me

2costa said...

i didnt really think about it til now but when sawyer shot mr. freindly in cold blood he said thats for "taking the boy off the boat" sort of implys that redemption that mike will need, at least sawyer seems to understand that libby and ana-lucia died because of the others more than mike...

2Costa, your recent quote from Carlton (4 posts up I think) came from an interview done by E! in LA, not from Comic Con.

That's all right 2Costa. I hear that the Mr. Friendly thing is from the S3 DVDs. It was supposed to be against the rules to film anything aired at the panel like that. You could try a youtube search, but if it was there it was probably taken down. In fact it's kind of "funny" that they didn't take down the Orchid ones.

Hey everyone,

Long time no chat. Just stumbled across the Orchid vid on abc.com. I thought I was on to something new since there wa no thread or metnion of it. Why no thread??

Anyway, interesting video and images in it. Now back to lurking until something new happens.

Scoutpost said...

Hi everybody-
Just watched the Orchid video today and have been catching up on comments and reading some of the theory links that memphish (I think) provided. My brain hurts- but it feels good, it hasn't hurt like this since LOST went off in May. Really exciting stuff to talk about. I guess we could be wrong, but it seems that TPTB are really beginning to give us some clues that are starting to make so many mysteries come together in an explainable way. Keep up all the good discussion- I pop in when I can!

2costa said...

orchid needs a thread

Melissa_Lossa said...

Okay, just popping in with a wacky theory - I noticed that the Orchid film had clips from the "Jacob Loves You" film. What if these "orientation" films also served as brainwashing films, like the Room 23 film?

If that was true, is it possible that Radzinsky was editing these subliminal messages out?

Ange said...

2costa: I liked it better when you chanted Orchid Thread in all caps;).

Melissa: You raise a good question! But isn't the point of subliminal messaging that you don't see them? The ones we have stumbled on are pretty right out there, although it takes some effort to figure out what they say. Seems more like they were put in to be seen, by Radzinsky or someone else. Just MHO though.

memphish said...

That's an interesting idea Ange. But it's not like they were supposed to watch the Orientation films over and over like some obsessed fans of a certain TV show. :) It would probably be a pretty ineffective brainwashing scheme unless one of the subliminal messages was watch me over and over.

memphish said...

Oops, sorry, that should have read Melissa, not Ange.

Capcom said...

Hi Favorite peeps! :-)

2costa, that is an interesting thought that Sawyer is holding Zeke responsible for how everything went to hellinnahandbasket for the Losties after they took Walt. And I would very much agree with that angle. Things weren't bad enough for survivors of the plane crash, so the self-proclaimed good guys had to add inuslt to injury by attacking their vulnerable group. Altho, I still think that Mike's a d@#% or a certified maniac for plowing over whoever got in his way of finding Walt.

Hey, don't underestimate the power of a few frames of subliminal suggestion. Theaters supposedly used to splice in a few frames of snack images every so often in movies, to get viewers to go to the snack bar. Unless that's an old wives' tale. But who knows how many other training and recreational films the DI watched in their life on the island?

Twinkle, Scoutpost, Diggity! Long time no post! :o)

2costa said...

plus capcom i think a lot of the fuselage people will be more loyal to fuselagers than tailies. I did almost forget sawyer and ana'a jungle lovin'. Hurley will probably be the most pissed and unforgiving, but if it turns out that libby was a dharma/mittleos whatever mole then i think that helps with mIke's long road back so to speak. Sayid begrudgingly forgave ana for killing shannon, but i bet he will be one of the few that still like mike. Hey capcom did you notice the black bottle seeming to go half empty in the orchid yet. I wanna revisit the jacob scene to see if the jars change on the shelf...

2costa said...

this casimir bunny thing has me thinking that jacob might be an antimatter copy or whater that is somehow suspended in the shows present by the ring of ash and the ash or whatever it is on the rocking chair?

memphish said...

Interesting thought about the ash ring being something that tells matter or anti-matter Jacob not to get too close to its opposite.

There's a good post about Libby here.

You also raise a good point 2Costa that in all our time on Falcatraz, at Othersville and on the road with Ben's crew no one mentioned the rest of the people taken from Flight 815 -- just Cindy and the kids and even then Kate, Sayid, et al didn't attempt to "rescue" them.

Capcom said...

2costa, I tried to look for it once, and didn't notice anything different about the red jar. Is there another one? I'll have to go back and look again.

memphish said...

memphish said...

This is what ticks me off about ABC. NBC has put the Heroes Comic Con panel on their website -- already. Wouldn't you think ABC would do that for all it's shows, not just LOST? Instead we're relegated to fan videos on youTube. Making the product viewer friendly, gee what a concept!

I've been thinking about the Orchid video. I'm thinking the Swan was originally the Orchid. The Swan was originally constructed as a laboratory where scientist could work to understand the unique electromagnetic fluctuations emanating from this sector of the island. Not long after the experiments began however there was an incident and since that time the following protocol has been observed. That's from the Swan orientation film.

The Orchid film says the unique properties of this island created a kind of Casimir effect...

The following is from a website I was on.

My theroy that The Orchid became the Swan after the incident has a flaw though The Swan is station 3 and The Orchid is station 6.

Capcom said...

Aha! I see the "wine bottle" now 2costa, thanks! I guess that I was fixating on the red liquid only, because didn't some of the bottles in Jacob's cabin have redish liquid in them? Maybe Dr.Candlewickwax was drinking the wine because he was upset about having to act and wear make-up. Heheh.

Interesting idea Sayidsgirl. And all this time I thought my vacuum chambers weren't staying steady because of the damm faulty vacuum pumps! :o) But seriously, I see what you mean about the stations. Maybe the Orchid is(was) directly linked to the Swan by tunnels, so that the scientists in each station could interact easily? I have to go check the blast door map again!

Capcom said...

I've also just noticed after another viewing of the Orchid film that the jar of red liquid does not show up on the shelf until after the Dr. says "...Casimir effect, allowing us to...", the film skips, and then the red jar appears on the shelf, and the wine bottle gets/looks empty. Hmmmmm.

maven said...

Any of us LoCos in Minneapolis with this terrible bridge collapse?

2costa said...

i think your right capcom the wine bottle lookin thing got emptied into beaker. And i think the orchid is the blastdoor in the swan they couldn't open. You probably already know that one of the lost jigsaw puzzles has the part of the blast door map that john could not see. There are probably lots ot differnt sub-stations. I cant help remembering the cryptic door they showed in the medical station that was just like the one in the swan and dont forget how julliette had a secret door stash at the medical hatch maybe there is a bookshelf that is a fake door in the swan or was. Just hearing the 108 clock doesnt mean that is was right near the swan anyhow cause the p.a. system could sound those alarms at any station.
