In honor of the new TLC podcast I've gone ahead and posted a list of questions I had after re-watching Tabula Rasa on my blog for your answering pleasure. Also look at the 2nd post about how many sides there are on LOST.

Rachel is Juliet's sister. And there have been other Rachel's too, but not Ben's mom and not Desmond's ex-fiancee.

Hi Folks. If I didn't have such a pathological fear of speaking in cyberspace (weird for a teacher huh?) I would call TalkShoe right up. Instead I'll just anxiously wait for the podcast to be put up and listen to what you all have to say ;).

Can't wait to discuss the book tomorrow, and I'm already organizing my notes for July's book. Good luck with the podcast all...time to download!

you can listen to the podcast at talkshoe if you want to without signing up. Just go to the website at 6:00 and look for the podcast where it says live now it will be right on the front page and click the listen button (there'll also be join in button) a separate little window will pop up and you'll be able to hear what they're saying but not be able to join in. That's what I do. I have the same aversion you do. If you don't see the listen button just refresh the page until you do.
But of course you can listen to it after it's posted if you chose.

Happy Podcast Day!

I plan on calling in...but don't know if I'll get up the nerve to actually say anything! LOL

something has been bothering me for a while. Right after locke left the flame he said to mikhail"i know why you didn't want me to push 77" then the flame blows up and locke never finishes what he was gonna say. At the time i figured that locke saw an additional message after he put in 77 because he had already seen the press 77 if there has been a hostile incursion to the station before mikhail held the knife to his throut. This is where it gets confusing. Locke seemed at the time surprised that the flame blew up and that there was c4 in there, but later we find out he at least knew about some c4 in the flame. So i chocked it up to the computer telling him about the c4 after he pressed 77. I now think that was the misdirection that they wanted us to think. Locke seemd to know about the barracks after he left the flame even though he never saw the schematics like sayid. When locke threw mikhail into the sonic fence he also referrenced that is was a sonic fence before anyone else said it. He also seemed to have much more anger after he left the flame. This is what ties into my new thought. Why did locke throw a knife at naomi without ever hearing from ben what her deal was. Well i think that the message that locke recieved after he pressed 77 warned him about Naomi's search party coming to the island, why else would he kill her, but spare jack. Locke had to employ sawyer to kill cooper, but killed naomi in cold blood, he had to have some info. Another thing i was thinking is that Ben may not have taken locke to the real jacob. If the producers are yet to cast jacob it would make sense. Locke still thought jacob was a parler trick even after the hub-bub in the cabin. So i think that ben was conning locke, by shooting locke because "you heard him" ben made locke beleive jacob was real. Thats why ben didnt deal locke a deadly shot. After its all said and done ben wants locke to beleive. I know that carlton said ben shot locke for challanging his primacy, but i think there is more to it. If ben didnt want locke to freak out jacob he would have made him keep the flashlight outside. I think all saeson was the culmination of a twenty year plan by ben to finally take over the others, all the moves he has made left it so there are no type A males left in the others, maybe no men at all. He kept richard around cause he is important, but he eliminated anyone that richard could have used to pull a coup on ben. I think thats why ben spared sayid bernard and jin so that next season Ben will be spared by the 815'ers. In a nutshell everybody thought bens plan was falling apart at the end of the season, but what if Ben's plan is still going asa scheduled?

Ange, you should at least join in the chat room and interject your thoughts. It's fun ... you can type in comments, and usually David will read them.

2costa - that's interesting, that Naomi may have shown up in response to the 77 command. I hadn't thought of that. Maybe they saw that code entered and realized that they had a window?

2costa... Why did locke throw a knife at naomi without ever hearing from ben what her deal was.

Maybe Walt told him that he had to stop Naomi.

Theoretically, that's not possible, since the Looking Glass was blocking ALL communication, including the the Flame Station.

Melissa_Lossa said...

hmm.... okay, you've got me there, Dennis! Maybe entering the code triggered something automatically, so that actually "communication" wasn't necessary?

The Book Discussion Podcast chat room is open at talkshoe.com!!

walt was gone when he got out of the pit dennis, he just told him he had work to do, and since he knew something thats how he interpreted it. SPoiler..............................................i think i saw someting about locke knowing more about naomi's mates then he's saying

I tried the talkshoe thing, and the feed is all over the place...cutting out, etc. I'm sure it's me, it usually is, but will check it out and DL when you get it all up!

2costa said...

my contention is that ben wanted all that to happen or at least the smoke did that why the coordinates for the flame were on Ekos staff and it fell right in front of locke. The others are not sloppy, so it always struck me as odd that klugh would leave the horse with the high stirups and hide in the flames basement. I think there is something to the thought that ben is trying to replace his mittleos bioscience loyal guys with 815'ers. Jack is there to replace ethan, sayid is the to replace mikhail as their i.t. guy, sawyer is there to replace gereric goon such as price or tom

2costa said...

bens final order that tom could barely follow was to spare sayid bernard and jin and that showed us that tom is really an ass. Why else would Ben go unarmed to intercept jack at the com tower and not stop him from making the call. It reminds me of a story from the new testament where jesus preformed a miricle and told everybody not to tell anyone, but everyone ignored his order and told everyone...

2costa said...

So locke didnt kill naomi to stop the call from being made he killed her cause she is bad and he didnt want her in their midsts...

A very different experience from blogging, that's for sure!

The chat interface is different than what I'm used to...I didn't like it.

maven said...

Yes, amused...I find it very confusing.

Maven, it was nice to hear your voice again. Everyone had such good points. And such different points, too. I never thought of Fiver as a Locke type, or Ben as the El-ahrairah until one of you mentioned it.

Thanks for making me go "hmmm..."

Amused2bHere said...

Hey Passafist! Thanks so much for making that podcast possible. We had fun, and we owe lots of that to you.

maven said...

Thanks, amused! It's so great to put voices to names! Also, want to add my thanks to David for doing another great job (even if you didn't read the book)!
