I hope everyone has been waiting for the new thread and that we'll have some discussion this morning. I'm stuck by the washer and dryer. Ah, post-vacation.

As for Par Avion. I've got a lot so I'm going to dole it out over the day.

1. When Charlie took Claire on a picnic I thought they were both going to die in the episode. The Psycho-esque music playing in some of their scenes (don't know if that same type of music repeats in The Birds) had me on edge all the way until the end.

2. Great discussion on Sayid, Locke and Kate being angry, weak and frightened. We know that Locke is definitely angry; Kate is often frightened, think back to her in the trees in The Pilot; people were having a hard time fitting Sayid into the equation. I think he is primarily weak. "One of Them" is the episode where Kelvin introduces him to torture. Sayid is easily manipulated into torturing his superior officer and despite his repeated avowals that he'll never do it again, we've seen Sayid give in to that over and over.

And Go Bruins! as Dennis said. They are my grad school alma mater. But we've got lots to pull for here in Memphis. We've got Memphis, my father-in-law's school; Tennessee, hubby's grad school alma mater; Vandy, just because; and UNC because I've always been a UNC basketball fan.

Good Morning Loco's

Top 5

Welcome back memphish-

Just got back to work from Spring Break and now it's time to catch up with the last thread.

Will comment once I have caught up.

I forgot how much I missed WV-

Memphis, UT, and Vandy...that's a good showing for Tennessee - all three teams made the Sweet 16.

Eastern Kentucky was out in the first round, and both Kentucky and Louisville were out in the second round. At least Kentucky lasted longer that Duke. Eat it Coach K!

BTW, UCLA is my wife's alma mater. I went to Long Beach State, but we lost in the first round.

Go Bruins!

I thought of some good questions to ask you guys last night right before bed, but can't remember what they were now! Ah well, maybe after I wake up a bit more- I'm not a morning person.

I have an idea about Locke and the looks exchanged with Patchy during the discussion about the list. People have said that there was a "knowing" look between Patchy and Locke. I wonder if maybe Locke found Jacob's list and realized that he was not on it. This would contradict Ben's little "I was coming for you John" story which further infuriates the always left out Locke leading to his hostility toward first Patchy and it appears per the preview toward Ben.

People also were talking about Patchy's "fleeting memory" of Locke and suggesting either that they had met before or that Patchy has Desmond-like flashes. I took that to be an indication that Patchy had files on the 815 survivors. That's how he knew all of their names and their flaws and to call the cat Nadia to get into Sayid's head. He was definitely going to say "paralyzed," but Danielle cut him off while Locke looked frightened and weak.

I can't wait to find out what is up with Danielle.

Another basketball note -- my 7-year-old owns me our bracket pool right now.

Great Podcast! Thanks guys for going with my thought that Christian could be Jacob! Christian alluded to Claire that there was other means for dealing with her mother instead of pulling the plug. Maybe he had some drug that induces a death-like state and he used it on himself to get Jack to come to the island. He does have those connections with at least 4 of our Losties...more can be coming. I like your interpretation of his name. TPTB have always said that we should pay attention to names, right?

memphish said...

David and Steve, Why do the TLC podcasts download so slowly in iTunes? Is there any way to speed it up? It's taking about 30 minutes to download for me.

I haven't seen anything come from UCLA, but I doubt they have our address in KY.

Listening to the podcast right now...

Here is a screen shot of the crash scene. You can clearly see a damaged Chevy truck in the photo - and the driver's side front bumper is squished forward. It looks like Claire must have hit it on the front driver's side.

Go Bruins!

bigdog said...

it looks like the car is in the parking lot, like it may have hit the poll. all the glass seems to be around her car only. Also if the accident was head on and the mom went out the front window wouldnt she have hit the car.

probably being way to critical...

ib4uc said...

dennis... thanks for the screen shot. In looking at it, it appears they are in a parking lot, not in a street. I guess I missed that in the show, I just assumed it happened on a street.

Dennis said...

If you look at the second screen shot, it actually looks like they are in a gas station parking lot.

Go Bruins!

ib4uc said...

dennis... didn't catch the gas station looking sign at first.

memphish said...

Ryan at The Transmission on the wreck site:

Claire’s accident was at the Chevron gas station near Kahala Mall (corner of 21st Avenue and Waialae Ave.). You can see the viaduct overhead (the east end of H-1). They reversed the film to get right-hand drive.

Dennis said...

Here's a crazy theory about Claire's parents.

Claire was lied to about her father being dead. He had "visited her many times as a baby but stopped visiting because, according to him, Lindsey hated him, and Carole couldn't cope with him having another family."

This is kind of soap opera-ish, but what if Carole wasn't really Claire's mother, but it was "Aunt" Lindsey instead. Lindsey couldn't handle being the mother, so Carole raised the baby. This situation would make it very awkward for Christian to visit his daughter, and would explain why Lindsey is so hostile towards Christian.

bigdog said...

dennis, dont think thats crazy at all. Always thought it was a different kind of tension in the hospital room with the aunt and christian,

memphish said...

It could have been that Lindsey saw him first, but Carole got him. That's a pretty soap opera kind of thing too. More likely it's just that your sister is wasting her life pining over some guy who's 6000 miles away and has another family who he's never going to leave. That creates grumpy sisters as well.

The bigger question to me is what does it matter that Jack and Claire are related? And are they and how are they going to find out? I hope it's not just some lame 6 degrees thing that never pays off.

Dennis said...

Still listening...

I don't think that John Locke is "the villain". Locke would not kill one of his own people (i.e. Kate) the way Michael did (although, Ana Lucia was a Tailie, and had killed Shannon). Locke mourned Boone's death because he was part of the "family".

The difference here is that Locke killed Mikhail who was an Other. An Other that held a knife to his throat, and asked to be killed.

Mikhail says the fence doesn't work? Let's just see about that... ooops, I guess he was lying.

bigdog said...

memphish - great run for your march madness teams.

Mikhail had a chance to kill sayed but only gave him a flesh wound - which he later healed.

could have poisened the tea he gave sayed and kate and could have cut lockes throat with the knife.

it is still bothering me that mikhail wanted to die for no real apparant reason other than to add more questions

Dennis said...

What kind of person do you think Mikhail is? ;)

Mikhail didn't kill Sayid, Kate, or John because he's "not that kind of person"...

From Stranger in a Strange Land:
JACK: You just helped me save his life. If you're going to kill me, at least show me the respect of not calling it "moving."
TOM: Now, why would we kill you?
JACK: Because you're done with me.
TOM: What kind of people do you think we are, Jack?

memphish said...

Agree Dennis. For some reason the Others don't seem to want to out and out kill our Losties with the big exceptions being Charlie hanging in the tree, broken bone Scott and broken neck Nathan. And of course, Pickett was bound and determined to take out Sawyer. But I still don't understand the distinctions they are making.

bigdog said...

by the way who did hang charlie in the tree.

could this be another example of charlie cheating death? even without a desmond vision

personally i think mikhail was a misunderstood man who liked chess and womans gymnastics and fell in love with a woman from the wrong side of the dharma tracks.(klugh) that forbidden love eventually cost him his life and one eye.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Hey, everyone - been listening to the podcast, and wanted to throw in my two cents on this discussion. :)

I think the Others see themselves as not the type of people to murder others for no reason. Tom and his crew threatened the Losties in the jungle, but never actually hurt them.

I'd be interested to see what they thought of Ethan after his little killing spree. Maybe Ethan was so obessesed with Claire that he went off the grid. Danny seemed to be the same way - he ws ignoring the rules because he had a vendetta against Sawyer.

Melissa_Lossa said...

bigdog - Ethan hung Charlie so Jack and Kate would quit following him.

Charlie living fits into my theory that it's not Desmond's destiny to save Charlie, but Charlie's destiny to be saved that is guiding things.

Dennis said...

Save the Rock Star, save the world! :)

Melissa_Lossa said... Maybe Ethan was so obessesed with Claire that he went off the grid. Danny seemed to be the same way - he ws ignoring the rules because he had a vendetta against Sawyer.

Same thing with Juliet... she went off the grid and broke the "rules" by killing Pickett. That's why she was sentenced to death.

More notes from the podcast

Why all the security?

Originally to protect the Dharma Initiative from the hostiles, and now the Others from the Losties.

How did Desmond catch the bird?

Maybe Desmond foresaw the death of the bird, and he went to save it's life :)

Melissa_Lossa said...

good point, dennis - Juliet is the only one where we got to see the consequences of breaking the rules. Perhaps if the Others are so disgusted by the idea of murder, that could explain why the punishment is so swift and severe.

bigdog said...

but tom did blow up the boat with michael, sawyer and jin when they took walt.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Yeah, but he didn't directly kill anyone - maybe he already knew that the island would drag them all back. The Others fired a shot, but they only hit Sawyer in the shoulder, so I don't think they were shooting to kill. Same with Patchy and Sayid - the shot was a rather agressive warning, not a kill shot.

Yes, as I see evidence that points that direction, I will add it to the work in progress.

"I also wanted to ask you if it is worth listening to Cuse and Lindeloff on The Treatment?"

I am a little behind, trying to catch up on posts, but I listen and read EVERYTHING by the Lozt Boyz, so I would say yes, The Treatment podcast(s) are worth a listen.

BTW, Welcome Back!!

memphish said...

Thanks for the welcome TBM.

I'm not buying that Tom and crew didn't think Sawyer, Michael and Jin would die when they blew up an already flimsy raft in Dharma shark infested waters with Sawyer bleeding. That is what we would call in law Depraved Heart Murder. Yeah, you didn't actually kill them, but you set up the circumstances that made it highly likely.

You beat me to this one. Par Avion just means "by air,"
and is used by French speakers for air mail. IMO it is a reference to the message attached to the bird.

Milo Stimoudous will be busy this week. In the Bible, Aaron never entered the Promised Land. He died in the desert, before his brother Moses. The leaders at the time the people crossed the Jordan were Joshua and Aaron's son Elazar.

I'm listening to the podcast. Thanks for all the hard work David and Steve. But David, I hope you aren't watching the episodes too hard and ruining your own enjoyment of the show. I've really enjoyed the last 2 episodes of LOST, and I don't get the feeling that you have.

I like what you guys had to say about weak, angry and frightened. Good point that those on the ins with Ben's Others have those traits.

Dennis said...

Well, like the Goog said, it depends on what the definitions of those things mean.

Remember, Mikhail was "talking down" to the Losties - "I will try to make this as simple as I can"

Angry, Weak, Frightened are the "simple" explanations that he used as a slam on them in particular. I think there is probably a higher bar set if you want to be a "magnificent" other.

Things that might disqualify you: killing your step-father, torturing people, pushing someone into a sonic weapon fence...

Dennis said...

Speaking of Hostiles, here is an interesting quote from Live Together, Die Alone

[Inman walks over to Desmond and points to a spot on the ceiling.]

INMAN: See that brown stain, there? That's Radzinsky. He put a shotgun in his mouth when I was asleep. The bitch of it was, I only had a 108 minutes to bury the poor bastard.

DESMOND: Well, if you don't want me to go crazy, next time let me go out.

INMAN: Well, you want to go out there with the quarantine and the hostiles?

memphish said...

An idea about Christian and Claire and Carole. It seems to me that the real relationship is between Christian and Carole. That is the relationship Christian is invested in, not his relationship with Claire nor for that matter with Jack or Jack's mother. So his concern and the reason he raises ending things for Carole with Claire is that he wants Carole to have a life worth living. As the wife of a doctor I know that he wouldn't want and probably wouldn't want for me (and I wouldn't either) a life on machines in a coma. But Claire as next of kin is the only one who can end that type of life so he's forced to raise the issue with her. In fact, maybe that's the reason he's looking for Claire in Two for the Road, that he's still concerned that Carole is living in this vegetative state.

I do not think it is in any way out of character for Christian Shephard to put his needs and concerns ahead of his childrens'.

memphish said...

About the bird and the handling of the bird. The bird Desmond caught and Claire handled was already tagged. It had already been handled. Maybe that's why it didn't mind being handled.

After spending the last week at the beach, I know seagulls certainly don't flee unless you run at them pretty hard. They are scavengars that let you get very close to them, especially if you might possibly have food.

maven said...

Love your avi, Dennis! GO BRUINS!

Also, a great find, Dennis, re the use of the word "hostile" by Kelvin! I'm beginning to think the hostiles aren't Ben and his group of Others. If they had set up the security parameter around Otherville, they obviously wanted to keep something out. Conversely, it wasn't constructed to keep themselves in (they do make the trip to the Hydra Station). And even though if the use of "we're the good guys" seems kind of creepy sometimes, I think they just might be. There just might be a group of hostiles who really were on the island a long time (even going back to 4-toed statue days). Remembering when Tom (aka Mr. Friendly) warned Jack not to cross the line...the island really might be divided up and when the various groups "cross the line" things begin to happen.

memphish said...

Great point on the podcast about Locke delaying the fuse. After Par Avion I might suspect that to be the case except for Locke's "I was wrong" look at the end of Enter 77. Of course, maybe TOQ didn't know how crafty Locke was either.

Scoutpost said...

Great podcast as usual guys!

Maven- I agree with you, I think that "the Hostiles" are actually another faction of Others, not Ben's group. And if this is the case, makes me wonder if ole Smokey is the "security system" for the Hostiles, and the sonic fence is the security system for Ben's group. I am holding onto my theory that some group of Others may be descendants of Magnus Hanso- no real evidence for this, but it would be a good way for TPTB to tie in the Magnus facts we had in TLE.

As far as Locke goes- I don't think that it is so far fetched or out of his character to have killed Mikhail. I think Locke is asserting himself for the first time in his life, he has "interacted" with the island more than anyone else, and has probably been deceived by the island and the Others more than anyone else (except maybe Jack)- and I think he's just manifesting his frustration. I think he wants to get to the bottom of things and is taking things into his own hands. I also think that the conflict between him and Sayid is (like someone said in the previous thread) another manifestation of man of science vs. man of faith. All this to say, I don't think it was weird or out of character or indicating that Locke had killed before (although that would not surprise me), I just think he is a man on a mission. Personally, I think I would've pushed Patchy into the fence to see if he was lying too.

Also, re: Christian and his involvement with Claire's mom- I don't think it's that unusual that he had friends in the hospital at Sydney who notified him when Claire's mom was in the accident. He could have easily met other docs while in Sydney. But the clincher is...was there a specific reason he was in Sydney? I mean, was he just vacationing there when he met Claire's mom or, like passafist said, was he doing some sort of Dharma experiments in Sydney?

Scoutpost said...

Another thing about Christian Shepherd- I don't think that his advice to Claire was that suspicious. I used to be an ICU nurse and most people I've come in contact with would not want their life sustained the way Claire's mom was. Granted, he hadn't been in touch with Claire for a while, but this is a woman he supposedly "loved" and had a child with, so I just don't find him showing up and suggesting Claire let her mom go as suspicious. What I do find suspicious is the fact that he did have some sort of solution that would not indicate her criminally, that I think is very curious.

I still think that Ben and the others were the Hostiles, but the Hostiles have won against Dharma. Dharma obviously had the money and technology to set up the hatches and security fence to keep out the Others, but as demonstrated by Kate, Sayid, et al, the fence is easily defeated.

Tess315 said...

Hey guys
Just want to say that I have always thought that the hostiles were a different group of "others" than Ben's group since Maternity Leave and Kate found the costumes. I think that Ben's group dressed as hostiles to blend in with the actual hostiles to protect themselves from them while they try to decide what to do about the Losties. I think the group that Jin and Eko hid from in ...and found were the hostiles and not Ben's group.
The only problem I have with my own theory is where to fit Ben in. If you can believe that he has been on the island all his life it could mean that he is a hostile because I feel Ben and the hostiles are the group who have been on the island for a very long time. But if Ben isn't a hostile and belongs with the group he is with now how could he have been on the island his whole life? Unless he didn't mean it in the since that he was born there. Like I said I can't figure out where Ben belongs. But I think the hostiles are the group Dharma tried to purge and that they're the one's that have been on the island for a very long time. Ok if any of that made since I'm done rambling now.

memphish said...

Maybe Christian Shephard really was alive and drugged to look dead (like Juliet in R&J not LOST) and that's why he's wearing white sneakers with his suit in the casket knowing like Jack that he'd need "better shoes" for when he woke up on the Island. Or did he collect shoes from the trees like the white sneaker Jack ran past in The Pilot?

Do we think that Patchy didn't run into the fence on his own because he had mores against suicide, that would not have applied had he shot himself on Ms. Klugh's orders or if he was assisted by Locke shoving him into the fence? It just dawned on me that the facilitation of Patchy's death which he wanted sort of paralells the backstory of Claire's mom and her life support predicament.

Spoiler Warning -- if you trying to stay pure in your spoiler avoidance, avoid the Official Podcast. It includes revelations of certain things we can expect to see in future episodes and not just tonight's episode.

Here is the exact quote mentioned in the podcast:

GALE: None of this matters. I'm dead anyway. The doctor's gone to make a trade and we both know he'll come back empty-handed and then I've lost my value. So either Jack comes back here and kills me or my people find out where I'm being held and they do it.
LOCKE: Why would your own people want to kill you?
GALE: Because the man in charge -- he's a great man, John, a brilliant man -- but he's not a forgiving man. He'll kill me because I failed, John. I failed my mission.

BTW, here is the Quote from Mikhail:

MIKHAIL: The man who brought me here, who brought all of my people here, he is a magnificent man.

SO...

WHO IS WHO?

Joseph Finchum said...

Memphish,
The last reported sighting of Alvar was indeed 2001. Although the pic of him was dated 2003. The point I was making though is that the guy in the podcast said that Mittlewerk could have started Mittelos after he left Hanso but that didn't happen for a long time after the Mittelos was already formed and recruiting. The big problem is in the idea that Mittelos is just a cover story for what and who they are actually recruiting for... i.e. Dharma or still Hanso. But as for TWM, I don't think there can be a connection there, unless TWM was reffering to this final attempt by himself to reinitiate the Dharma Initiative and that is what he meant when he said it fail...

Simply, He takes over HAnso and Banishes Alvar to house arrest (sort of) and starts up Dharrma again (recruiting Juliet and Ethan and whoever else) but it fails again and then he goes for the whole drugs in your Sprite and Apollo food things to off 1/3 of the worlds population. Of course we all know where that went and Why. (GO RACHEL...LOL)

Oh and happy LOST day, for those of you who don't mind spoilers, check out themisfitishere.blogspot.com for a small tease of behind the scenes still shots from this episode... They are very spoilerish so be careful.

And yes I know his sight is a joke and a sham, but he does get some great real pics every now and then.

He is a tool but a useful one... lol

Okay, just listened to the official podcast, and in the last five minutes, they confirmed one of my theories. Yea! Okay, off to work. :)

ib4uc said...

dedjezter... regarding themisfitishere.blogspot.com, I hardly ever believe anything on there. Everything seems to be so far-fetched, and he sees things that aren't really there. I haven't visited that site for a long time -- I might just have to check it out -- I could use a good laugh today :)

memphish said...

Ded, I was thinking that TWM set up Mittelos while he was still working for Hanso. His own little private lab, just like the one Juliet mentioned having in Not in Portland. That's my wacky theory. Then he saw weakness in AH and moved him out as well. Just crazy ideas I'm throwing out there.

Trusting Patchy and Cuseloff I'd guess though that the Hostiles are running Mittelos.

Someone mentioned that a board member at Hanso was named Jacob. Maybe he's our Jacob and named Mittelos Mittelos so we would suspect TWM, but it's really Jacob's company.

I want to post my why Locke is in a wheelchair guess, but I'm afraid that's one of the spoilers out there and that my guess is so wrong it will have the spoiled among us laughing their a*&^s off.

But here goes. I think Locke's injury is psychosymatic (sp?), i.e. that it's in his head. I further think that he and his father were in an accident which killed his father and which Locke caused and in his guilt Locke is atoning for this by not walking. When he landed on the island he could walk because he could always walk, but Locke attributes it to the Island. Ben will tell Locke that the Island did nothing, it was all on Locke's head, and Locke will need the wheelchair again because again he can't cope with that knowledge.

Tess315 said...

HEy memphish
I also toyed with the idea we may find out needing the wheelchair was all in Locke's head but then I thought they would never give us answer that simple. Who knows? I guess we'll find out tonight.

Amused2bHere said...

Gee, I hope Locke doesn't end up needing a wheelchair. Imagine using a 'chair in all that sand on the beach! Not good.

Speaking of yardwork, how do you get a puppy from digging up your yard!?!

Black Swan said...

oh, and a belated welcome back, memphis! I have enjoyed (and agree with you) on your takes on Claire/Christian/Claire's mom. But I'm not so sure I agree with you about Locke and his wheelchair.

Dennis said...

ABC.com has a new video player for watching episodes online. It now supports Full-Screen and a mini-player. Very Cool.

memphish said...

Thanks Codysmom. I'm not sure I agree either, but I like the idea and want it out there in case I'm right (which I never am). Locke's ticking me off lately and in a way I want him to be this big putz who lets his mind rule over matter. To me he's back to being creepy orange smiling, I've got a secret, knife throwing guy. Maybe our first impressions of all these people are indeed the right ones.

Joseph Finchum said...

Memphish,

Okay I see what you were getting at. That sounds like a plausible statement to me. I have always had this theory about Locke.

After all is said and done with his father he finally gets up the nerve to face him again and finds him. He confronts his father and Cooper pulls a gun on Locke. They struggle and the gun goes off... Cooper is dead. Locke not knowing what to do, starts to run. While running (because he is weak and frightened) he begins to cry and get PO'd like he did in the car in his flashback. He swerves uncontrollably and jumps the median divider of the road he is on, crashing head on into two cars. One carrying Mr. Rutherford and the other one carrying Sarah (Jacks future wife), he is rushed to a different hospital where he learns he will not walk again, just like what happened to Sarah, but she had Jack to fix her.

Just my 2 cents and a long shot...7 1/2 hours until I know if I am wrong or not... but I probably am... LOL

memphish said...

Here's a more basic question - do we think they'll actually go to Tallahassee or will someone just be from Tallahassee and will STDs be involved like in Sawyer's trip to Tallahassee? I've got a picture of the Tallahassee Health Department in reserve, just in case.

Joseph Finchum said...

I meant that the TWM thing was plausible... not the Locke thing.

But that could be right as well... lol

I know I couldn't believe that when I seen it. But you know alot of people watch something when it's new out of curiosity. I'm sure it won't stay there.

As far as your digging puppy that's a hard one. Some breeds just dig. You can try sprinkling black pepper where he or she digs it may get up her/his nose and stop him/her. But unfortunately your puppy may find a different place to dig.

Black Swan said...

Thanks for the pepper trick for my digging Bichon (see avatar-his name is HURLEY). It can't be the breed, because I had a Bichon before (Cody, hence codysmom) and he never was a digger. I keep putting up this cheap low fencing from Home Depot to keep him away from his favorite spots, but he just finds another favorite spot. LOL

If that don't work. You can try garlic juice (if you can stand the smell) or vinegar. Anything with a strong odor.

No kidding! If that's the case, he better make a deal to stay in Otherville where they have sidewalks (and probably ramps).

Oh memphish you're such a Jack fan! LOL I think the problem is that Locke is not a putz, but is acting like one to throw everybody off. (and tick everybody off)

Great theories everybody. I try so hard to stay away from spoilers, but you guys make them so tempting. I think I'm going to go listen to the Official Podcast. Can't wait until tonite!

Capcom said...

Wow, I have been on vacay away from the computer for a few days, and the posts are great! Lots of great twisty theories from everyone. Ya have to feel sorry for TPTB the way we get to work out and talk about the show so much that TPTB have to really be clever to surprise us!

I want it on record right now, that when Kate asks Jack why he was playing ball with Uncle Tommy as if they were best friends, he will say, "It's complicated Kate!", and Ms.Capcom will have an aneurism on the spot!

OK, so if TPTB said that Locke is not as stupid as he seems, does that mean that the "happy-as-a-pig-in-poop" look on his face at the Flame computer was really a "oh-man-I-can't-believe-that-I-can-blow-another-station-up" look? OK, I'll buy that. :o) That was almost a girly-giggle that he did there and it totally creeped me out. :-p

Re: "He's a tool, but a useful one", I'm stealing that line too. You all split my sides every day!!

Happy New Ep Everyone!

memphish said...

These last few posts have me laughing like crazy. I especially like Capcom's "It's complicated Kate." Capcom, will you be foaming at the mouth and have blood spurting from your ears like in Ded's avatar?

And Scoutpost, yeah I guess my Jack fan girl-ness is showing. He's a Bruin after all!

Capcom said...

Roger that, Memphish! :o) But I won't be saying "Thank you", like Patchy did!

Ditto on you being back too! :-)

I have to say that Terry O'Quinn is a great actor to be able to elicit such emotional P.O.'d-ness in us after the Flame episode, in both directions (pro and con Locke). But I always liked him ever since he has been on JAG and other shows playing hard-*ssed military officers....very sexy dude. Can't wait till tonight!!!!!!

memphish said...

I like TOQ, but I hated his character on Alias. He was always so awful to Sydney.

I remember Locke saying in a flashback; that Mousetrap was his favorite game growing up.I can visualize that little cage falling down on the mouse, and can't help but wonder if the Other's haven't finally gotten Locke into their mousetrap.
A shout out to Dark Angel and Chuckles3.

hello everyone

i just finished reading everyones posting from last weeks show - spring break work trip to Pascagoula, MS.

here is a question: if there had been a hostile take over of the dharma people why are there still dharma food drops? are they somehow fooling the people at the main office? look at the time line i'm thinking of. our losties are somewhere in 2004, the TLE happened this past summer 2006. TWM said that the dharma experiment was a failure( so was that a resent revelation to the Hanso F and TWM or was it known for sometime?)

if we were clear on this i think it would help us identify or speculate on who the others call their great magnificent leader.
Jacob the beloved leader, to me, is the last hanso darma guy(or member of a small group of dharma peps). dharma being like most big corp ventures ignored the local domestic population and Jacob(w/ or w/out peps) didn't think it was right, sided with the locals and led them in getting dharma people of the island. he knows the workings of the island and kept the main land people in the dark of his total control -all the while bringing in his own people to do his bidding. people like Kelvin to enter the numbers(thats why he is waiting ever so impatiently to have a replacement) and Micheal to operate the communications keeping up the appearances to keep food coming and bring new people in like Juliet to help the original inhabitors recover from the dharma experiments.

hey mr and mrs admin - congrats!

looking forward tonight - happy lost day to all and to all a great lost night!

Dennis said...

Andy,

The food drops may have kept coming because the numbers were still being entered in at the Swan station, or because Patchy was manually ordering them at the Flame station.

Now that both the Swan and the Flame stations have been blown up by Locke, maybe the food drops will stop.

BTW, If you haven't listened to today's official Lost podcast, it may clear some things up.

Capcom said...

Good thoughts on the food drops. I sure hope that Otherville has some kind of agricultural system where they can grow food, if the drops stop. Perhaps that's what they were doing with the rock breaking and moving. Something like, "Rats, now since the sky turned purple, there will be no more food drops and we have to grow our own food now, so start clearing the land!". Maybe that's also why it seemed like a rush job and that they were so crabby about it?

Unknown said...

yeah for me it keeps going back to the food drops

if my company was driven off an island that i put a lot of money and effort into i don't think that i would continue feeding them. maybe its just me.

and i think that kelvin was forgotten about because it was maybe one project that jacob didn't know about or thought abandoned during the purge. he could have been recruited by now gone dharma peps due to rising hostilities and kept secret. i mean while the numbers kept going in no one knew of any problems, dish worked - beckon worken - life was smooth in otherville.

Just got online everyone! Gosh, you've been very busy! LOL Trying to catch-up and chech out all the links! Tonite's epi seems awesome! BBL

memphish said...

The food drops -- I think as long as someone in the Flame entered the food drop code they would get food drops, and don't forget that Alvar himself told us the food drops would occur in perpetuity which means forever and ever, amen. We've also seen two different supply labels, the Swan and the generic Dharma labels. Maybe the code gets you generic Dharma food dropped near the Flame and the Swan drops are on a schedule. Remember when Hurley inventoried the food he told Jack there would be enough for 2 guys for 3 months (or something like that), but that 40 people would run through it much faster.

Capcom, your suggestion that the rock busting project on the Hydra is the beginning of a farm is the best suggestion for that I've seen to date. I would assume the Hostiles have some farming knowledge since Ben, age 40+ has lived there his whole life which I believe is longer than Dharma has been there.

Hope to see most of you around later tonight. I'll be checking in on the new thread pre-show, and probably during the commericials, and definitely afterward. I didn't get my nap though. Drats!
