I just typed this on this last post:

Hey All Y'all, Wi Gates?

Happy LOST Day!!

Gald to see you back FYSB : ), the discussions are way too serious around here sometimes. ( No vampire, zombie, time lord, or mutant monkey theories)

I just did the HTPC thang last week. (Home Theater Personal Computer) I'm all ready to watch the replays from ABC.com in full screen on my TV.

Dig Y'all Later

memphish said...

TG, you sure are fast.

I'm watching Friday Night Lights to kill the time until LOST. Actually it's a really good show, but tonight's episode is dragging a bit.

But it helped me figure out what Sawyer needs to do if he really wants to know how Kate feels--he needs to get her drunk. Nothing's truer than that drunk girl, "I love you man" conversation. Too bad Charlie's been in his stash.

Hope to see a few of you on the other side in just over an hour!

JGZ350 said...

memphish, I thought you would be first, what happened? Just checking in and saying four!

JGZ350 said...

I will see you on the other side memphish, in an hour-

WooooHooo! Happy Lost day everybody!!

memphish said...

I had a time travel moment earlier tonight. Fortunately, I was sitting next to a friend to whom I could say "It's like Desmond," and she understood.

This is the longest 5 minutes of the day. I don't know what I'm going to do next week when Friday Night Lights is a re-run.

Totengraber said...

It's Time

memphish said...

How sad was that that Hurley was talking to Libby and that was the only time he wasn't scared. My husband was like "you're already shrieking at the TV," and I'm like "poor Hurley."

Oh, and the next mystery should be why the heck is Vincent so fat. That lab is tubular, and I have labs, so I know.

And who performs "Road to Shambala?"

Thrasher76 said...

She is Tricia Tanaka...WTF and did you all notice Cheech Marin was his dad!!!

Thrasher76 said...

A comet??? And oh goodie the newbies that no one cares about!! I like the dead Dharma guy named Roger!! I guess I should stop doing this in real-time huh?

Unknown said...

it has been about 14 minutes through the show, and besides a car, what have we learned??? this show needs to be moved much faster, i love it, but tptb are draggin this show along

memphish said...

Oh come on, the meteorite taking out Tricia Tanaka while Randy looks on was fabu!

Unknown said...

o and tricia takana is awfully close to tricia takanawa from family guy, and she to is a news reporter, the same as tricia takana

memphish said...

Besides, this is supposed to be a light episode. And Sawyer is the biggest dumb (insert word here). I've always shipped Jate, but dadgum it, Kate wants to love Sawyer and he throws it in her face. What a dumb (insert word here.)

Tess315 said...

memphish Three Dog Night does that song.

Thrasher76 said...

Look its Cheech, now where is my stash????

Best quote: "Poor...Roger, sorry about your arm dude!"

Thrasher76 said...

So this is the lite and fun part of this thread!! WEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

"Where the Hells my stuff?????"

I shouted that same phrase once when I had a few too many drinkies one night and was dreaming I was robbed!!

memphish said...

No the best line is "Somebody's Hooked on Phonics."

Thanks for the 3 Dog Night.

JGZ350 said...

memphish, you knew Sawyer was going to be the real Sawyer when they got back 'home'. He doesn't want anybody to get close to him. I guess you couldn't wait until after the show, neither could I.

Joseph Finchum said...

Drinkies... awwwww how cute... lol

10:28:12
She's going to get Danni R.

Thrasher76 said...

My wife is sick and sleeping, so I figured I would be on whilest the show is on.

I give you a nod for that quote as well. It must be battle of the funny quote night!!

memphish said...

I so wish I was drinking Dharma beer right now. I considered printing out the labels, but I was a slacker. Now I'm paying the price.

Sawyer's in prime form. He's got on his old torn t-shirt. He's looking for his stuff. We've got Oliver Twist, Munchkin, Snuffy, Hippie Car and Jinbo by my count.

Oh, and Hurley's both spry and "crafty."

Fun episode.

Thrasher76 said...

Ded...nice one!! I think I was drink MaClutcheon...or whatever it was called...

Thrasher76 said...

Ewwwwwwwwwww...Cheech and Mommy Hugo bumpin uglies....I agree Hugo!!

memphish said...

I'm with Hurley putting my hand over my ears with Mom's needs.

He's not only got Daddy issues, he's got Mommy ones. Mom's all like "Jesus was a good son."

Has anyone ID'ed the car yet? Is it a GTO or a Camaro? I'm from the deep South, but I don't have brothers.

Oh, and I usually don't complain about the commercials, but that was a short interlude between commercials.

JGZ350 said...

very cool eps so far and what is up with all the freggin' commercials? I agree memphish, my boy sawyer is in 'rare' form. He is dishing out the nicknames left and right. I can't wait to see a screencap on the map of the road DIHG was trying to build.

Tess315 said...

memphis
Definately a Camero I'd guess a '72 or '74 but not sure. I always wanted a Camero when I was a teenager.

Tess315 said...

redneck man lol loved it

JGZ350 said...

yeah I wish I had some DIHG beers right about now. Jumbo Tron, red neck man, too funnie. I can't wait to see a compiled list of all the sawyerisms from this episode.

memphish said...

This is a great episode. It's not advancing the plot or solving anything, but it's making me laugh, and I like it.

I was completely falling for the psychic. But Bare Naked Hurley! Shield my eyes now.

I love that he slapped Charlie. Can he do that to Nikki and Paolo next?

Okay, so the 3 phrases you guys need to no are "I'm sorry," "You were right," and "Those pants don't make you look fat." I'll confirm with hubby tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure he's right about that. He should take his own advice.

Now we have IHOP, Jumbotron, Jiminy Cricket and Hurley's retort of Red . . . Neck . . . Man. TOUCHE!

Thrasher76 said...

It is a '70 like this one

They are filling it with things we truly would appreciate!!

Thrasher76 said...

Memphish - you need to add the Dharma logo to your avitar!!

Thrasher76 said...

Ummm...what happens when they run out of gas? Or was that delivered in purpituity as well???

Thrasher76 said...

Sawyer no function beer well without.

Thrasher76 said...

Well the preview was cool and creepy!!!

This was a funny episode!!

Thrasher76 said...

I think this is the most I have posted since the ARG days!!

JGZ350 said...

Great episode, very well done and we got a little bone at the end of the episode. Next week, can anybody say 'Patchy'???

memphish said...

Thrasher, I wanted to put insert your logo here over the VW, but I don't know how to do that.

Okay, I really liked that episode and I was yelling "No, you can't kill Hurley!" So glad I didn't read too many spoilers.

So the big stuff -- over and over again we heard about hope and making your own luck. Blah, blah, blah.

How sad is it that Hurley's dad is waiting for him, just like Ana Lucia's mom was.

They were doing Dharma Doughnuts in the field.

Jin learned fast bringing that white flower to Sun, just like in the House of the Rising Sun Flashback. You guys should learn from that too. Flowers for no occasion are a huge plus.

Next post about the real stuff there at the end.

Oh, and I hate blogger.

memphish said...

So the real stuff -- first Kate finds a net, Jack reminder. Then Sayid and Locke find her. BTW, how do they still have guns left? Suspend disbelief.

Kate says she didn't ask them because they weren't motivated and didn't know where to look and Locke agrees about the motivation. What happened to his big "We're going to get our friends back speech?"

So 0315 is now a compass bearing.

Oh, and the real Kate, hair in her eyes and all, is back. And she finally, finally put it all together about Alex and Rousseau, though she wasn't going to tell anyone about it apparently.

And Skate is dead; long live Jate; just say no to Jacket. (That ends the girlie part of my post.)

memphish said...

I've got a question. Where did the dart come from that Sawyer stepped on? Was it from Desmond's Local?

memphish said...

PN, Hurley was headed to Australia to find Sam Toomey and his dad said he'd be there when he got back, but getting back was Hurley on Flight 815 which turned out to be the Island Local, not the LA Express.

JGZ350 said...

Hey there memphish, I really hate to be the one to rain on your little Jate parade, but from what I saw in last weeks episode, and this is purely speculation on my part, there will not be any Jate going on, but there will be some Jacket going on. It's in the cards, you could really see the electricity between Jack and Jules when he was giving her first aid for her mark. It is what it is, gotta call a spade a spade here. Also, I'm not into shipping by any stretch of the imagination, but it's plain to see that there will be Jacket and no Jate, at least not this season.

Cool to see Russo in her usual form, looking like she is lost.

Thrasher76 said...

Night all!!

I will be back on Friday!!

Kishia said...

Cheech is looking rough. Did you guys listen to the message on the hanso site? Click humanity. 'bout to check for anything new now.

Dart- who has the screen shot?

JGZ350 said...

memphish, the dart from the dart set in the swan, I imagine the losties will be stumbling over all kinds of swan contents.

memphish said...

jgz350, your boy Sawyer watches Little House on the Prairie? This plus the Judy Blume in an earlier episode is starting to make me question who Tom might be more interested in.

memphish said...

jgz350, Thanks for the dart thing. I'd forgotten about that being in the Hatch. They never showed anyone playing with them did they? Just flying toward the magnet.

And I think you're right about the ship stuff, but a girl can dream can't she? It's TPTB's fault. They sold me on Jate in the first 7 episodes and now I just can't see anything else, and it's sadly very important to me, though the creepy stalker Jack backstories are starting to erode things.

Totengraber said...

Nikki and Paulo, WHY!!!!!!!

JGZ350 said...

memphish, sawyer had a legit excuse for watching house on the prarie and I'm not familiar with the Judy Blume comment. Could you please enlighten me? A side not, if you are starting to wonder about what team sawyer plays for, the last time I checked, my boy is batting 1.000 with Kate and Ana Lucia, while your boy Jack is batting a dismal .000. Plus Jack had the chance to close the deal on Kate when she was making sure the shower worked in the infamouse Swan hatch.

memphish said...

I don't know that there was much to keep us talking all week about this episode, but boy that preview looks promising. I'll have to work hard to avoid spoilers this week.

There was more daddy issue stuff. Little Hurley was going to help his daddy "fix" stuff. That's kind of like a certain obsessive soon to be Other doctor we know (and that's not spoiler based, just speculative on my part.) Dad gives Hurley the candy and later Dad says Mom was right about not eating it. That was kind of cruel.

I hate it that Starla and Johnny were a couple. I had higher expectations for the two of them.

Okay, the P&*( and N@#$# stuff was so bad, again. I think they even showed Kate hugging her. And P@#$# pulling N*&(( away with her belt loop. Ugghhh! How many more episodes until they die? Too many!

Not only does Claire have bangs, but from spending all that time in the sun, her hair is 3 shades darker than it used to be. Oh, and I noticed N@#$@ mentioned powdered milk. That could be used to feed Aaron in case Claire dies I suppose. (I won't go into a breast feeding is better and powdered milk isn't formula rant here.)

Going to go ahead and post to deal with jgz's latest comments: Touche!

And Judy Blume is the author of Are You There God, It's Me Margaret? which Sawyer was reading in The Whole Truth. It's about a young girl getting her period.

Unknown said...

"Look Death in the face and say 'whatever, dude!'"

Best Hurley line ever.

Totengraber said...

What kind of candy bar did Cheech give Hurly? It wasn't the classic Apollo bar.

JGZ350 said...

I agree thebookpolice, the best Hurley line yet. Almost as good as Jack's 5 seconds line.

memphish said...

The entry hall in Hurley's house was octagon shaped. That makes at least 3 buildings I've seen that in -- Walt's Australia home and the place in Desmond's flashback he finds the physicist.

I liked how Hurley's mom slapped him and later Hurley slapped Charlie.

I stick by the Hooked on Phonics line as being the best in the episode.

If they had that blueprint map, why was the VW in the middle of the jungle?

So we got another bogus psychic. Does this make 1, 2 or 3 -- Madame X (I didn't catch her name), Richard Malkin and Achara? How many of them are legit and how many bogus? And don't we need 4? I guess we might add Mrs. Hawking.

Oh and Cheech told Hurley we need/should get a "fresh start."

That's really about it.

Can't wait to find out about Mr. Patchy, and Locke apparently being an imbecile--again!

I'll hang out for a few if anyone's here.

JGZ350 said...

at first I thought it was a classic 'Crunch' bar, but I could quite make out the name. Screencap please...

memphish said...

Whatever Dude - Cheech said that to little Hurley in the first part of the episode.

memphish said...

Oh wait, I think he said little dude. Where are the transcriptionists as well as the screencap people? JK.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Best. Episode. All. Season.

I loved it! No answers, but all good stuff.

memphish said...

I really love the picture that goes with this thread now that I know the context.

JGZ350 said...

I'm with you memphish, where are the screencap and transcripts people.

Which do you like better, dave or TTID?

Melissa_Lossa said...

I love Hurley's mom. She cracks me up.

I was kind of hoping that we'd find out today why Hurley goes by Hurley instead of Hugo. Didn't he make some mysterious comment about that in the first season?

Totengraber said...

memphish said...
BTW, how do they still have guns left? Suspend disbelief.

It's like the dart from the Swan, It was raining metal stuff all over the island, after the sky turned purple.

JGZ350 said...

When hurley got the dihg bus to start, that was definitely the highlight of the show. Hopefully now he will not think he is cursed. Oh and now charlie will not think he is going to die, since he looked death in the face and said, 'whatever dude'.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Even though Dave told us more about Hurley, I liked this episode better. Everyone just seemed to be back to the characters that we love.

I always liked how Hurley and Jin kind of had a bond, and we haven't seen that much lately. Same with Hurley and Charlie.

JGZ350 said...

Hurley's mom is very funnie, but that was not cool to hear that she had 'needs'. I did my best not to visualize anything, because I probably would have hurled.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Didn't Sawyer bring all of the guns to the beach? He had them all under his bed, right?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Oh, but I loved how she covered the ears on the little Jesus statue when she said it!

memphish said...

Melissa_lossa, I think the good news is that Hurley's got one or two flashbacks left.

jgz350, I loved this episode. It didn't reveal stuff like Dave did in terms of why Hurley was in the mental hospital, how it manifested, and the Libby reveal, but TTID was just so much fun. My one gripe was when Hurley said "the Chicken Shack got hit by a meteor or an asteroid. I don't know the difference." That bugged me because in MOS,MOF he told Jack "a meteor, well meteorite." No asteroids in the picture. That and Sawyer's dumb treatment of Kate are my two beefs, because why did TPTB work so hard to hook them up only to rip them apart THIS quick. Yeah, we knew he'd mess it up, but within 48 hours, because I do not think it was a pity thing. If she thought he was dead, why did she throw herself in front of him when Pickett was going to shoot him, not once, but twice?

JGZ350 said...

Yes, great reunion episode and nice to see all the hugs being given. Hey I think my boy Sawyer even got a hug from N***i. Better watch out P***o or else N***i is going to be next on Sawyers to do list. Plus I'm sure he would do it just to piss off Kate.

Totengraber said...

JGZ350 said...
When hurley got the dihg bus to start, that was definitely the highlight of the show.

Man, what about that rock squushin' Mr. Cluck!

Daaamn!

Melissa_Lossa said...

Yeah, I could've slapped Sawyer, too. And Kate for that matter. They're both so afraid to show any feelings for each other. Sawyer looked so sad at the end when Jin had Sun, Charlie had Claire, and all he had was warm beer. He should just be honest with her. Although, she'd probably just make fun of him for it.

memphish said...

Melissa_lossa said Oh, but I loved how she covered the ears on the little Jesus statue when she said it!

Oh man, I must have looked away then. Must rewatch tomorrow.

But why, ABC promotions department, is this what everyone will be talking about tomorrow? It was fun, but . . .

memphish said...

jgz350, so would Sawyer and Nikki be Sawki or Nikyer?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Believe me, Memphish, I'm all for more Hurley flashbacks! I'd like to see how the whole Johnny and Starla thing came to be.

I was kind of hoping that maybe Hurley was his dad's nickname for him, so he decided to use that on the island. Something like that. I forget, did Johnny call him Hurley or Hugo? I think Dave called him Hurley, didn't he?

JGZ350 said...

Great observation memphish, I do remember how Kate was going to die for Sawyer when he was about to get offed by the now deceased Pinkett. Actually that's good the TPTB didn't let Sawyer's and Kate's little ship last long, at least they are moving that part of the show along.

Totengraber said...

Sawyer don't need Nikki, he's got Beer!

memphish said...

Oh, I can't remember that Melissa_lossa as much as that is going to shock jgz350. I know Johnny calls him Huggy Bear like Smokey and the Bandit. That would have been nice for it to be something that reminded him of his dad. Oh, and we also need to see why Hurley is a "warrior."

I've got about 2-3 minutes left in me. I think this will probably be the best I've slept on a Wednesday since LOST returned.

memphish said...

And I don't need Nikki, I've got BBER! (Don't need Paolo either. I've got cheese doodles and they're smarter.)

Melissa_Lossa said...

Can you imagine how funky that beer would be? Blech!

Totengraber said...

Night memphish.

memphish said...

I may have BBER, but I can't type. I meant BEER, but the red wine I'm actually drinking is affecting my typing.

JGZ350 said...

I'm liking Sawki memphish, what about you?

I thought TTID was a very much needed episode this far into S3 because everyone has been so down on the first 6 eps of S3 and especially after last week's snafu of S3 so far.

Totengraber said...

memphish said...

memphish said...

In honor of Rousseau at the end, I'm going to say "C'est tout pour moi" and bid you all a "bon nuit." Be sure to read that with an Eastern European French accent though.

Night all. I'll be back bright and early in the am. Hubby's running carpool! Yeah! Hubby rocks!

JGZ350 said...

No DIHG beers here for me. Gotta wait til Saturday for that. I kinda gave up drinking, well except for one day of the week, for lent. Is that DIGH merlot you are drinking over there memphish?

melissa_lossa, I bet that flat, warm, funky DIHG beer never tasted so good on that godforsaken island.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Yeah, I think I'm out of here, too. Time for bed. Good night, all!

memphish - I know you've gone nighty night, but on the psychics tip... I wouldn't be so quick to call Richard Malkin a bogus psychic. While that's how he described himself to Eko, he seemed genuinely disturbed......

I have to interrupt my own post to voice my disappointment at the tidbit I just read on Lostpedia about Mr. Malkin. I hadn't seen the clip on S2 DVD that shows Malkin claiming he was paid by a couple in LA to get a pregnant girl to fly to them. That bums me out. I've had a longstanding fascination with the psychics, and that kinda deflates my buzz. So anyway, nevermind on the first part of my post.

However! There's still Isaac of Uluru, the faith healer who couldn't heal Rose. Isaac, whose name hearkens back to the Biblical father of Jacob...

Know it's awfully late for most of you and a lot of you have gone off to slumberland!

I really liked this episode! It was pure LOST...fun and light-hearted but still mysterious. The Sawyerisms were priceless: Jumbotron, Oliver Twist (for Charley), Skeletor (for Roger Work Man), Jiminy Cricket (for Charley) and the other ones you guys mentioned.

Finally, Kate has put two and two together and realizes Alex is Danielle's daughter! Yeah! I think that Locke was talking about Eko's stick telling him to look North when he told Kate he has a direction for finding the Other's camp.

We're going to need some good screencaps of that blueprint map Sawyer held up in the VW, saying they were building a dirt road. And also of the "recycling" stuff.

Looks like there'll be no Kate/Sawyer (whatever we call them). Pride seems to be taking over for Sawyer, and he's happy to be alone with his beer (how awful that beer must taste). Sawyer looks longingly at Sun/Jin and Charley/Claire, but pops open a warm one.

My local ABC news is touting some big LOST news about another character...sounds very spoilerish, but I'm gonna watch. After that, I'm going off to LOST dreamland. Hope to catch up with most of you tomorrow!

Blueprint 2

Thoughts: Mostly a cute filler episode, but Sawyer and Hurley in full form were great! I am glad Desmond changed his shirt, and buy a Volkswagon! Apparently they can survive a lot;).

memphish said...

Morning LoCos.

Dedjezter - you are the BEST! Thanks so much for the new, improved avi. Everyone be sure to notice the license plate on the front.

TheBookPolice, I see you found the Season 2 DVD scene with Malkin. Someone told me about that recently too, but since it didn't air, I don't know how to treat the info. Great catch with Rose's Faith Healer Isaac. Despite all of our Jacob discussions this season I had forgotten that we had met someone with that name. Kind of ironic that Isaac is at one of the special places on Earth and so is Benjamin. I wonder if Jacob is at a third?

Ange, great job with the screen caps. Any word on which Dharma station that is on the second shot? To me it looks like the Swan. I think Roger's jumpsuit had a Swan logo too, but the Bus just said Dharma.

I hope Dark Angel at least gets a chance to kick back and enjoy TTID. It's a perfect episode to break your theorizing obsession. I slept soundly all night.

memphish said...

The concensus on DarkUFO about the Dharma logo on the map is that it is the Swan symbol. Hey Maven, you've got HD. What did you see?

memphish said...

Question: Why did Dharma leave poor Roger rotting in the jungle all these years?

ib4uc said...

Good morning Locos. Great episode last night. Going to catch up on all of the comments.

Unknown said...

The map logo looks, honestly, a lot like the Wu-Tang Clan logo. It's not much of a stretch to translate this
this
into a FLAME.

This map is gonna be how the losties find Ol' One Eye.

memphish said...

TBP, you'd think they'd use a map, but no the A-Team is already deep in the jungle without the map, and with the magic compass direction from Eko's stick. I'm pretty sure they'll just use that and a crazy French chick instead of something logical like a map.

And good morning ib4uc.

memphish said...

Someone asked last night what kind of candy bar did Hurley have. According to LostPedia it was a Glacier Bar. Could this be a link back to Ice Station Zebra at the end of LTDA?

ib4uc said...

Hey memphish. Got a few minutes to read the comments and I just have one thing to say...

At the end when Kate tell Rousseau about Alex, I was like "Whoa, I didn't see that coming!"

Finally, someone put 2 and 2 together. Can't wait to see what comes of it. Maybe Rousseau will open a can of whoop-a$$ on SWH when she tries to get her daughter back.

engineer27 said...

Great moment no one commented on yet (that I saw)...

Kate switches back to calling him "Sawyer" after he gives her the attitude about apologies.

She's the only one there who knows his history -- she was attempting to bring back the boy that was James Ford. Upon failure, the "Welcome home, Sawyer" was merited.

memphish said...

I just learned that Cheech's name is DAVID Reyes. As in Dave, as in Libby's husband David. And no I don't think that Libby was married to Cheech.

I kept waiting for Hurley to call out his mom on knowing how to get in touch with Dad and yet not for 17 years.

memphish said...

Engineer27, yeah, I noticed that too. Sawyer is so not a James though. Jimmy maybe, but definitely not a James.

ib4uc said...

I have a question. I dozed off for a few minutes last night and missed the part right before Hurley and Charlie are driving down the hill. Sawyer says something like "Are you sure about this?"

Were they just trying to get the car started by going down the hill or were they attempting something worse, maybe suicide?

memphish said...

ib4uc, they were getting up speed so they could pop the clutch to start the car just like in Little Miss Sunshine.

I loved the tension of that scene. I was so worried they'd take out Hurley and Charlie. I guess since Desmond didn't come hurtling through the jungle to stop it I should have known they'd be okay, but I liked being worried about them.

memphish said...

That's a great idea ular98, but would such a map have whatever you call those lines that indicate altitude? I guess they could in reverse. We certainly haven't seen any signs of a road other than the move a rock project over at the Hydra.

memphish said...

ular98, Maps aren't my strong suit. Just ask hubby. No, don't. Hopefully someone like Engineer27 or Dedjezter will know something more about them.

Melissa_Lossa said...

good morning!

I just wanted to point out that the note son the blast door map include the following:

possible terminal for subterranean EEP tunnel network

subterranean conduit

hub of DIHG
road system or other major route of overland travel?

So, the map could be of a road, or the subterranean tunnel network (if either actually exist).

memphish said...

Ange, posted two great links 20 or so posts above here.

Melissa_Lossa said...

That should of course be "notes on" not "note son" :)

Good Morning Everyone!

engineer27 said...

I've been trying to reconcile the new "road map" (RM) with the blast door map (BDM) from "Lockdown". If the station in the RM is the Swan, it's layout is similar to what is on the BDM, but not exactly the same. It seems, though, that the orientation of the two maps is inverted from one another. If so, the road comes out of the "?" side of the Swan, then curves over and down, away from "?" (a.k.a. the Pearl). If so, where is it heading? If another map I saw is correct, it was supposed to go straight into the part of the island Rousseau calls "The Dark Territory."

See, I knew Engineer27 would be a good map person. One speculation I saw about the map with its switchbacks is that the "road" is leading to the radio tower.

aslanscubs said...

Sawyerisms I noticed last night:

Freckles, Oliver Twist, Munchkin, Snuffy, Jinbo, Doc, Skeletor, Ese (sp?--may not count but I know it's in Spanish), Jumbotron, Jiminy Cricket. Possibly Blockhead.

As far as a screenshot of the candy bar, etc., check out Sledgeweb's site (Investigations: Season 3).

engineer27 said...

Yes.... The radio tower, the beer, a guy named "Roger", ...

It's all starting to make sense.

And ular98 is spot on about the switchbacks. No way you would cut a tunnel like that...way too much work.

You have to love how our losties just go from one crisis to another. On top of everything else, now they are out of Dharma oat bars!

Good Morning Loco-

What is up?

Anybody have the ratings from last night's eps, TTID?

Thanks for the EW recap link memphish-

dennis, did we get the series finale of Day Break yet over at abc.com?

I wish I had some Dharma oat bars. I'm pretty sure that's why Vincent is so fat.

Melissa_Lossa said...

engineer and ular - good point about the switchbacks. I know there's been speculation the Othersville is in a crater - perhaps this road would go up the side of that mountain to the crater. If it does go into "dark territory," that would make sense (I'm assuming Othersville is in the dark territory that Rousseau is afraid to enter; it would be the best place to hide).

memphish said... Okay, so the 3 phrases you guys need to no are "I'm sorry," "You were right," and "Those pants don't make you look fat." I'll confirm with hubby tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure he's right about that. He should take his own advice.

It's interesting that Sawyer teaches Jin to say "I'm sorry", but he can't say it himself to Kate.

BTW, maybe I'm clueless, but what did Sawyer have to apologize to Kate for?

JGZ350 said... Did we get the series finale of Day Break yet over at abc.com?

No post would be complete without talking about Daybreak :)

No finale yet. The Daybreak website showed "Wednesday the 28th", but they have removed that. Now is just says "this week".

Melissa_Lossa said...

I just loved seeing how happy they all were to get that van going. Hurley and Charlie's celebration inside was great, but I think Jin and Sawyer's gleeful run down the hill was even better. And watching all of them ride around in that thing..... I don't know, I just think it was a moment that was long overdue for them and us.

Something interesting about the 3 Dog Night Song, Shambala, on Wikipedia:

The song is about the mythical kingdom of Shambala, said to be hidden somewhere within or beyond the peaks of the Himalayas and mentioned in various ancient texts including the Kalachakra Tantra and ancient texts of Tibetan Buddhism.

Shambala is also a theme in Sufism and it is through this tradition that the notion of Shambala became the song discussed. Songwriter Daniel Moore became a Sufi in 1970.

The lyrics refer to a situation where kindness and cooperation are universal, joy and good fortune abound, and psychological burdens are lifted:

Wash away my troubles, wash away my pain
With the rain in Shambala
Wash away my sorrow, wash away my shame
With the rain in Shambala [...]
Everyone is helpful, everyone is kind
On the road to Shambala
Everyone is lucky, everyone is so kind
On the road to Shambala [...]
How does your light shine, in the halls of Shambala?

While the lyrics include the refrain "in the halls of Shambala", much of the song actually refers to "the road to Shambala", perhaps alluding to the idea of Shambala not as a physical place but as a metaphor for the spiritual path one might follow.

ib4uc said...

dennis said... BTW, maybe I'm clueless, but what did Sawyer have to apologize to Kate for?

I'm having a brain fart on this one also.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I'm assuming that she was talking about how he let Karl take their boat to go find Alex - therefore, getting rid of the one person who might have been able to lead them to Jack.

I have to say, though - I probably would have let him go, too. Poor kid.

memphish said...

Dennis and ib4uc, you are such guys. First of all, it doesn't matter if you really have something to be sorry for or not. Just say it. That's Sawyer's point to Jin too.

But as to what he had to be sorry for it was the whole treating Kate like a second class citizen thing and then accusing her of pity sex. You have to remember, SIASL was written by two women, so her failure to respond to him was not tacit agreement, it was "I cannot believe you said that to me."

FYSB said...

I think what brought a tear to my eye last night was watching a character actually share information with another character and advance the plot. Touching, very touching.

Dennis said...

Dennis said... No finale yet. The Daybreak website showed "Wednesday the 28th", but they have removed that. Now is just says "this week".

(yes i'm quoting myself)

Word has it that the last Daybreak episode was held up again by music rights. DAMN YOU RIAA! Supposedly, they are replacing a song in the episode, so it won't be available until at least Friday.

memphish said...

So it turns out the real reason that Daybreak was cancelled is because the TLE interns are now running the legal department at ABC? I guess that's the real reason for having Michael Giachhino. Thank goodness 3 Dog Night didn't hold up last night's episode.

Capcom said...

Hi Peeps! Great summaries and perceptions by all as usual.

Maybe the DI left Roger out in the jungle because he crashed during The Incident, and they were afraid to go back to that place?? Also might have been afraid of Smokey/Cerberus/Whatever? Or the fabled sickness-that-might-never-have-been-but-some-thought-did-exist?

I think that Sawyer was so laid back with the beer after looking at the couples, because that was all he had left....."Sr*ew'em, I got my beer and an oceanside view apartment." Poor Sawyer.

I agree too about Kate and going back to calling him Sawyer....she surely must have cared for him after getting "cagey", because if a woman doesn't care about a man, she will not try to annoy him by calling him by his formal real first name. :o) When she went back to just-pals mode, then she went back to the Sawyer. Good call y'all.

Nitpicky point....I could have pop-started that car with the first push they gave it to the edge. I had so many beaters with standard transmissions in my youth, I could do it all by myself by just rocking the car and popping it. :o)

Thanks for the links everyone as usual. I think that there is a complete map of the Swan in one of the later Lost magazines, for comparison to the map. I'm sure I've also seen one on one of the good Lost fan sites or blogs as well. There must be something out there to compare with. Or, we can just wait and watch the map lead them to Patchy. And I agree with whomever mentioned it this week, that Patchy might be an outcast like Jules is now, but even more-so.

Capcom said...

Right Memphish, Jin didn't even have to know what "I'm sorry" means, what's important is that he says it and that Sun knows what it means and that will make Jin's life much more pleasant! :o)

memphish said...

Capcom, good idea about Roger going down in the Incident. Makes me even more wary of that beer.

Capcom said...

P.S. IB4UC, great info on Shambala, thanks for looking it up for us. That song could have meant a lot to the DI in all those ways, literally and spiritually. Back then, before the Fall of the House of Dharma, they were probably very optimistic about their mission. And if they were building a new road to a new station that would have been an up-lifting time as well.

maven said...

Morning all:

(I'll have to check out that Dharma symbol later on HD!)

I think this episode had a little for everyone, didn't it? TPTB know how much we all love Sawyerisms, and every other world out of Sawyer was a great one! We got to see Losties as real people...actually reacting logically when Kate and Sawyer returned and doing the hug thing by all (even N & P). We got to see them having some fun with the VW Bus, but also contribute to the mystery of the island (the map, papers in the van, and Roger Work Man). The story was finally advanced a little with Kate at last telling Rousseau about Alex.

All in all a very satisfying evening! ("Next on Lost" looked fabulous!)

Capcom said...

Good thinkning about the beer Memphish, especially considering those homemade DI labels that we got the link for this week..."Barley Flavored Liquid", or something like that. :o) But true, will anyone who drinks the beer have special powers or glow in the dark now?????

maven said...

The thing that struck me odd about the beer was there was "beer light" besides the regular beer! I guess those Dharma people have to watch their weight! LOL

Melissa_Lossa said...

Oh, come one, maven, you know how it is.... you're on an island, there's no gym, Kelvin's always hogging that one exercise bike, it's so easy to let your figure go!

Trisha Tanaka (Sung Hi Lee) was in a movie with Juliet (Elizabeth Mitchell) called Nurse Betty.

I haven't seen it, but I heard they have a scene where they make out with each other. I'll have to add that to my NetFlix queue...

memphish said...

Okay, this is how geeky I am. I wiki-ed light beer to make sure it existed near 1973. Miller Lite was introduced in 1975 and there was diet beer before then.

Beer Light reminds me of Coke Light which you find in non-US countries. Do you think they have Beer Light in Copenhagen?

maven said...

Yeah, last night when I asked my hubby he said light beer was introduced in the 70's! I'm sure Sawyer would say "yuck" if he popped one of those open. (I'm not a beer drinker, but still can't imagine drinking that beer after being in the jungle heat for 25 odd years!)

2costa said...

it seems i was right that the failsafe key getting turned cut all outside world contact. It also seems thats its radzinsky in the super computer hatch. It makes sense he has an eye patch and kelvin said radzinsky liked to make edits to the orientation film. When eko found the bible with the film edit in it he found a glass eye too. The way the dharma guy in the van wasnt buried showed that when the shit hit the fan all hell broke loose, thats when they set up the 108 clock to vent the excess magnetism. Now that locke seems to have strated it again(in next weeks clips). the shit will hit the fan cause there is no swan to vent the magnatism anymore. I didnt see if anyone mentioned it, did anyone see how cheech gave hugo an apoloo bar?

picsel said...

maybe roger was supposed to be button-pushing. crashed on the way there and had no time to run back because the purple sky was already happening so he decided to drink and drink and drink and drink and drink(even if it doesnt fit in with the timeline of things XD)

2costa: That wasn't an Apollo Bar, it was a Glacial Bar (?) Wonder why they didn't use Apollo? (Maybe it was before Apollo Candy's time...it was founded in 1962 per TLE).

maven said...

Another nice thing that happened last night: Charley shaved and was smooth as a baby for a few scenes! Nice to see de-stubbled Charley (although it was growing back by the end of the episode.)

maven said...

Memphish: So Apollo bars would have been available then. Wonder why they didn't use it?

memphish said...

Where do I apply for the job of "Work Man?" More importantly, where can I hire one? I need someone to replace a ceiling fan and install a new garbage disposal. And if I were hired, would my uniform say "Work Woman?"

memphish said...

As for the Apollo bars, it was in the 70s when Hanso bought it, so in 1987 it wouldn't have been available to general public right?

2costa said...

I think its not god or the island trying to kill charlie its the others namely supercomputer eyepath guy. CHarlie killed ethan and its payback just like eko killed an other with a rock. Remember how on alcatraz people thought the cameras were just trained on the cages, when julliette was looking for sawyer and kate she started pressing buttons and the whole island was camera'ed up, she even had one trained right on alexes bunker. Well from that i can reason out that the other island is all camera'ed up too, where eyepatch can play "god" using the supercomputer

2costa said...

roger was the garbage man, desmond was kelvins official replacement, they groomed him for it

maven said...

Memphish: According to the Timeline for TLE (which I still have up, btw) Apollo Candy was founded in 1962.

memphish said... Dennis and ib4uc, you are such guys. First of all, it doesn't matter if you really have something to be sorry for or not. Just say it. That's Sawyer's point to Jin too.

Oh memphish. I'm a gal :) I guess I was looking for a definate reason that Sawyer had to apologize to Kate, not a 'just because'.

maven said...

And another date on the Timeline says in 1964 Apollo Candy began distributing candy bars nationwide.

memphish said...

Sorry ib4uc. You should know, both I'm sorry and flowers cannot be utilized enough by any man in a relationship. Jin learned that lesson too.

2costa said...

remember kelvin said radzinsky liked to make edits, the edit was regarding contacting the outside world ,with a glass eye in the hollowed out bible. I though it might be kelvin in the supercom room but it a differnt actor. the eyepatch screams radzinsky. After the first incident the swan 108 protocall was set up. I think radzinsky picked up the pieces and became the leader, maybe radzinsky is jacob

2costa said...

the karl film was all edited and spliced together radzinsky being jacob makes sense cause he "liked to make edits". He made his brainwashing films to convert his new dharma that rose from the ashes of the incident. Obviously the suburbothers pad was made pre incident.

in the clips for next week picsel they showed sayid and locke storming eyepathes headquarters and then locke overriding the communication blackout after watching a marvin candle film

I finally caught up. I had a great time with this episode. I went into knowing that there wouldn't be much mythology and island mystery and that was just great. Sad opening though and my husband came in the living room to find me tearing up with Hurley. I always say the same thing to him 'That music is a killer'. Anyway... Sawyerisms were at an all-time high and my favorite was him refering to Charlie as a munchkin, you can actually catch Dominic smiling a little and that. Haha - he made our hobbit laugh.

I did a little research, and found the history of six-pack rings.

They were invented in the late 50s by Jules Poupitch, working for ITW Hi-Cone. It was introduced in the early 60s by Anheuser-Busch.

The song Shambala pretty much defines the early '70s Peace Love and Understanding. Everyone was tired of the Vietnam War and looking for an answers for a better world.

I'm back. Just want to put another nail in the Sawyer/Kate coffin. Kate offers Sawyer a clean slate and an encouraging grin, but Sawyer throws it back in her face after explaining his keen knowledge of 70s TV. Contast this to the scene at the end of Tabula Rasa where Jack offers Kate the clean slate. To quote Austin Powers, "Yeah baby!."

Hey all- finally caught up this morning.
I liked last night's episode, too. Ditto everything said about it. Thought it felt kind of like a season 1 episode. Was just good storytelling last night, didn't seem forced or like they were trying to cram in certain info and write a story around it, rather that vice versa.

I don't know, but Roger Radzinsky has a nice ring to it...

You guys are too funny looking up light beer and the plastic rings. Good job!

What the hell is going on on CSI:NY that could possibly be more interesting than LOST?! I mean, I understand the frustration people have with LOST, but still....

Memphish- batten down the hatches (no pun intended)- Hope you and your computer survive unscathed!

Way up in the comments someone mentioned the whole Biblical name connection again when they mentioned Isaac was Rose's psychic in Australia... has anyone made the connection that Benjamin (a la Ben) was one of Jacob's sons? Don't know if this will come into play or not, but couldn't remember if it had been discussed with the Biblical references.

Off to the grocery store and errands- BBL

memphish said...

We do need to come up with a CSI:NY theory. Here's 3: #1 The only people who watch CBS are old and they fall asleep before Criminal Minds ends and don't wake up until after the local news and Nielson registers them. I've used my father and father-in-law as test subjects for this theory. Theory #2, someone puts the TV on CBS, then they lose the remote and are too lazy to change the channel any other way. Theory #3, they have low self-esteem and don't think they can hang with people who would look up the history of light beer and plastic rings.

As for something relating to LOST, be sure to read the Things I Noticed - TTID post from DarkUFO. This is a must read for all LOST theorists. I especially like what the poster has to say about Hurley and his role on the island, and what he/she says about the island itself is thought provoking. I don't know yet if I agree, but at least it gives me something to think about now that my shows except for LOST and 24 are now in re-runs.

Good Morning Everyone,

Excellent episode last night. Disappointed today to discover that it wasn't an Apollo bar... When I saw it last night, I was like "Hey! I have one of those bars!"... meh, still an outstanding episode. Hurley's episodes are always filled with comedy and he usually makes us cry. I turned to my fiancee at the beginning of the episode to tell her that he was probably going to make us cry by the end of it, but she was already in tears... nice way to open the show, guys! Anywho... Just thought I'd stop by to say hello. Miss you guys!

For the record, my favorite quote was "Dude, I wouldn't understand you even if you were speaking English."

I'd like to go into more detail about the Shambala song - the myth of Shambala goes back centuries, and was the inspiration for James Hilton when he wrote "Lost Horizon" about the very similarly-named Shangri-La. The similarities between "Lost" and "Lost Horizon" are way too many to mention, but I just to put this connection out there.

The rest of the "Lost Horizon" theory I've put here:
