Wow, dancing panda is back! Chucklez I love the new avatar, I might have to borrow it myself. Off to put little one to bed then watch Friday Night Lights. Probably be back just before airtime to say hi and get ready one more time.
FYI: DarkUFO has a live chat going in case you're interested.
Yup! I don't remember you, memphish... jog my memory, will you?
cool. thanks memphish. borrow away. heck, let's all adopt it for the day after each episode. hahahahaha.
wow........frogurt.....you have 108 views of your profile!! wicked slick!!
O.O I do?! I'm afraid to check, because it will screw it up!
hahaha. yeah, nobody look at her profile!!!
i was number 108!!! suuuhhhh---weeeet!!!!

D:< It says I'm a guy in my profile.

don't know.
Here's the chat link.
well, i'm signing off until tomorrow morning.
bright and early at 6am EST.
good night all.
*yawn*
As a West Coaster, I'm staying away from TLC until after the West Coast feed (11 PM PST). Have fun everyone! Hopefully, someone will be around after us West Coasters see the show!
I will tune in during the show Maven!
Frogurt, I lurked all thru TLE, but I was familiar with you. Been on the boards a lot in the last 2 weeks though.
Designermama, so sorry about work, but the show's good though very different than the last 2. Different feel, different flow.
And hubby interrupted during the Jack interrogation by the sheriff. What did he say right before the commercial?
Possible spoiler ahead if you haven't watched.
I'm sorry, but there were no "answers" in that episode. I'd borderline say there was one answer, but I feel totally misled. Lame.
Man. What a disappointment.
Worst. Episode. Ever.
Agreed. Nothing wrong in the episode in and of itself... but I feel manipulated by their marketing. You can't promise three ultimate "answers" and even go so far as to suggest that one of them is about what they did with the kids... then deliver absolutely nothing.
Okay, you cannot buy into the ABC promo department. We should all have learned that lesson by now and Damon and Carlton even warned on the Official Podcast that the promo was over-promising.
That was a bad episode, and I like Jack. But I hate Juliet and I hate the idea of Jack and Juliet, in case any of you have missed that.
Just got home from class, will be back in an hour or two.
painful
The episode started out good with Jack saying all the things we wanted to say about who the Others are, then Tom threw the glass houses thing at him, which made me flash to Billy Joel.
They spent too much time on the whole linking Jack and Juliet thing with them switching cells, both having handcuffs, both being marked. Yuck! Yuck! If you've kept up you all know how I feel about the Jack-Juliet thing. Frankly, it is so rushed it is totally P@((34ng me off. This is the same guy who isn't checking out Kate? Yeah, right.
What the heck was the kite stuff?
At least Jack recognizes he's being filmed in the polar bear cage. Was is just me or have the warm fuzzies between Jack and Tom worn off? Did Tom's gaydar determine that he was not in a target rich environment?
Kate and Sawyer were so like the "Can This Marriage Be Saved?" column that used to run/runs in Ladies' Home Journal. And later Sawyer calls her on the pity &*(). Ouch.
So you can kill Flight 815 survivors like Charlie (attempted) and Scott, but not "one of our own?"
The whole tattoos story was so stupid. And I so do not think that Jack (or Matthew Fox for that matter) has a clue WTF is written on his arm. Plus did you notice apparently the 5 and the stars are a later, decorative, not definitive addition.
Jack likes jewelry! Maybe Tom is his type after all. He's wearing some stupid necklace like he wore that stupid key.
Okay, Zack was the same little actor, but Emma so wasn't, was she? She was so much bigger. And then the teddy bear crap with the constellation and the star-crossed lovers at the end. They should have run this episode on Valentine's Day.
Crying in the jungle--so is Karl the new Jack?
Alex and her rocks! I love them.
The whole trial thing--an eye for an eye, God loves you as he loved Jacob--so this is an Old Testament society? Then Ben offers Juliet grace by commuting her sentence to mere branding--still a consequence of her sin, but not the ultimate punishment of death. Now Ben is God?
There was a conflict about Juliet's motivations. Alex tells Jack that she wouldn't have killed Pickett if it weren't for you, then Ben tells Jack she doesn't care about you Jack, she's one of "us" (I guess as oppposed to "one of them" which Ben was).
Ethan was a surgeon?!? As the wife of a surgeon I just have to say, oooh, it turns out I remember that guy from residency.
Jack is the worst follow you without you knowing it guy and I'm even better at it because I'm drunk guy.
I'm just left with--you ran this episode during sweeps? With a week of sweeps to go?
Seriously, Jack is my favorite character and this episode was weak, weak, weak, epsecially after the last two.
Sorry about the ridiculously long post, but man I'm bummed. Not even a decent Sawyer nickname to be found--okay maybe Bobby as in the Brady Bunch is okay.
I'm looking back now, and I'm starting to be convinced of this weird Old Testament stuff. Karl says if Kate and Sawyer go back, "He'll kill you. God loves you as he loved Jacob." That's very OT with eye for an eye and the death penalty for a lot of stuff, though what did Sawyer and Kate ever do to the Others?
So they took people, the tailies, the kids so they would have "better lives than yours." So what is wrong with the fuselage people? This got posted earlier today, but I have the question too. Why take so many tailies and only 2 people from the 48(?) survivors from the fuselage--Claire, and if Alex is to be believed just for the baby, and Walt--are the log carriers all bad people? Is it better to sit in the way back of the plane? Which I hate BTW.
I guess I'm the only one around which doesn't surprise me given the episode--did you notice that Isabell said that Chinese characters are often "Lost in Translation?" Ironically, on Friday Night Lights tonight there was a girl that was a tattoo artist and she said this means "eagle" or "douche." Got me all psyched for Jack's tattoos to mean "You are so stupid to let me do this to you."
So now that no one is here, I'll sign off. Talk to you tomorrow.
Hi All,
Thanks Admin for always getting the new thread up so fast. I don't know what we'll do if you ever get the flu or something and can't start the new thread for us right away. :o)
1) I really liked this episode, it was a bit hard to follow the first time around, but it was pretty weird, had a lot in it, and that's what I like. So I "need to watch that again", of course.
2) Wonder what "the mark" means? Mabye it's a DNR sign for when you-know-who gets back to The World, where there are Dharma operatives in hospitals, who won't bother saving you-know-who if it's needed. Well, I really don't believe that you-know-who will ever get back anyway. Am I correct in assuming that the mark is supposed to be the Hydra? Or not?
3) Hmmmmm, looks like there are some bonds building between you-know-he and you-know-her!! (Trying not to be too spoilery right now for those on the Left Coast BTW).
4) I hope that this is the LAST time that we have to see Bai Ling. Was that a complaint? Sorry. :-P
5) Can someone explain to me what that beat-up-job on you-know-him was about??? I don't get it. Are we supposed to? I caught some continuity inconsistancies with the sand covered nose blood there. Doesn't mean anything, just noticed it.
6) Re: the Sheriff........yee-gads, I wouldn't want to see her in a dark alley!!! Ya think that she smoked much in her life? She sounds like Harvey Fierstein!
7) POOR SAWYER!!!!!! Dammm Kate. Well, she's got a big surprise in store when she see's you-know-them together in the future. I betcha! Isn't it funny how adversity can bring two enemies together?! Like that old "my enemy's enemy is my friend" saying!
8) Re:the "stars" shot near the ending......awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! :-) But I hope it's not a case of, enjoy the stars now for tomorrow we die, kind of thing next week.
9) Check out that look that Ben gave Jack when........in the end. Incredulousness? Respect? What do you all think? It looked pretty deliberate and meaningful to me.
Hurry up and watch the episode Westies!
Sorry if 100 people have already mentioned the items that I wrote, while I was typing out this post.
Memphish, well at least the "gifted one" told Jack that he was was a leader, but a whiney and crabby one, in so many words. :o) Thank the Lord that she stopped him from whining about his father again! Oops, Westies don't look!
Maybe the children would have "better lives" because they were going to be part of the 70% that lived through the End Of The World Equation? Or maybe just because the children would live in lovely Otherville houses with back yards and slingshots, and the Lostaways are staying on the crappy beach with the sand fleas?
I am at least glad that Jack got to give it right back to the Others this week, by saying some things that we would have said to them. That was satisfying to me. I honestly forgot about the promised Big Three reveal, so I guess that's why I enjoyed the ep.
All right, I'm back. Thankfully my DVR which was acting up pre-episode is not acting up now.
Capcom, I just can't get how the guy who is too caught up in impressing his dad with his career to meet a girl other than the one he fixes, and who obsesses for 70 days without once making a move on the 15 or so survivors he could make a move on would now so quickly "bond" let's say with the woman who was his chief interrogator. Talk about suspending belief. Bring back the time travel and the pregnant male mice!
I started to rewatch and I think this Old Testament (OT) thing is worth pressing. When Sawyer and Kate are rowing away from Falcatraz Karl says that if they go back "he'll kill you. God loves you as he loved Jacob." We know that Sawyer and Kate are both esentially cold-blooded killers back in our world so that would justify an "eye for an eye" killing of them. Maybe that was why Pickett was so intent on carrying out "justice?" on Sawyer.
To press this further, is this why Karl would be killed if Ben caught him? Has Karl killed someone? I guess not, since they didn't kill him before, but maybe he did something else death worthy? Or maybe it's just that concept that in the OT the Jews are admonished over and over not to inter-marry with non-believers. In fact that is Esau's (Jacob's twin brother) big sin in his mother's eyes--that he marries pagan women. Is Karl a pagan? Then how was he in the backyard with Alex?
Hopefully there will be more to talk about tomorrow.
Lostfanboy, I agree re the last 2 weeks. I loved those epis.
Capcom said,Memphish, well at least the "gifted one" told Jack that he was was a leader, but a whiney and crabby one, in so many words. I know. I was yelling in that entire scene, "Yes, we watched the first 2 seasons. We know he's a leader who doesn't want to be a leader who's a jerk about being a leader and it alienates him from the people who want him to lead them. Don't you watch the show?"
ihearttoast, great name BTW, are you aware of a kid's show named Higgleytown Heroes? They are very into toast on that show.
As for your comment--I love "Not In Portland" more than "Flashes." I felt like we got new stuff, okay partly because we got entirely new flashback stuff, but I liked what we got and I felt like there was a lot to talk about. Last week left my head spinning because I'm not a big sci-fi person, and tonight to me felt like, guess what, we're not going to show you Jack, Ben, Juliet, etc for like 4-6 weeks now because Matthew Fox made this movie he had to promote back in December, so we hope you like how we got rid of him without killing him oh and here's what his tattoos mean and you've known that about him since the 5th episode of the entire series.
Ooh, that's a rant isn't it. Well, there you have it.
I called it earlier today on the last post when i said they didnt recruit jack to do the surgery, ethans death made it a necessity. Jack wasnr even supposed to have been on the plan to begin with. jack charliesawyer and kate are all slated to die for not being on Jacobs list. The the tatoo on jack seemed to be referring to the cain and abel story and to the buddhism. MY only question were all the thai peolpe just hardcore buddhists or dharma, i thought there were saying Namaste to each other...
Oh yeah, and ewwwwwwww -- what a kangaroo court they have there!!! Speedy trial yes, fair no.
Memphish, I wish that they would impregnate jack, then he'd really have something to whine about! :-D
2costa, so are you saying Jack and now Juliet have "the mark of Cain?" I get it with Juliet, because she killed and was allowed to live, but how does that relate to Jack? What's the Buddist thing?
As for Jack getting pummeled on the beach, I was assuming it was because he forced whatever her name's was hand and once he knew her gift she had to make him leave. Don't know quite how else to take that scene. In fact the entire flashback to me was utterly pointless.
Good call and point 2costa. Ben should have said about believing in God, "...two days after my surgeon was killed, then another surgeon fell out of the sky". :o)
Capcom, you crack me up. Men pregnant! They are bad enough sick!
Yes. Until further explaination.....pointless. :-p
So here's the questions I have about the flashback--when did it take place? When did Jack learn to play poker? Did Jack just leave when the guys beat him up, because that's not very Jack-like. More specifically re timeline, was this post-Sarah, pre-ratting out dad, or post-ratting out dad? How does a resident/new spinal surgeon take a month or more off of work? How does an older surgeon take that much time off because I'm married to one? And what the heck was up with the kite?
Hmmmm, the kite. Perhaps this needs specific scrutiny. Is anyone here a kite enthusiast?? There has to be someone out there in the kite club world who watches Lost.
The only kite reference that immediately comes to mind it The Kite Runner which is about a cut-throat kite flying competition in is it Afghanistan? It's a very good novel. I know this was somehow supposed to be Jack regaining his lost childhood, but come on people. Why did you buy the most complicated kite in the world, except for mechanically inclined tattoo artists who sleep with random men on the beach? Okay, I'm ranting again.
Think I'll call it a night.
Me too, g'night peeps. Can't wait to sift through 400 posts tomorrow! :-D
Aw, come on you guys! I didn't think it was a bad episode. We got to see where the basic tatoos came from, what they mean (ok, we knew that about Jack but it's nice to have it confirmed in writing), that the children weren't eaten, and that Jack's had basically the same haircut for EVER.
Who said there was no new stuff tonight?
I still think the objection to Karl being with Alex is that somehow she has already had a mate chosen for her, and Karl is not him.
On the other hand it could just be typical "Dad hates my boyfriend but I LOVE him" angst. Rebellion, pure and simple.
The stars were very "An American Tale." Where's Fievel when you need him, and is he pregnant??
But seriously folks, could someone figure out where the island is by that star shot at the end?
A very mediocre episode, but I think it's meant to be a cool-down from the first two. The show isn't going to be wham-bang every week. This way, a goofy Hurley episode won't seem so fluffy.
With all our talk about the cave skeletons and the black and white stones Jack has, I had to laugh when Tom yelled at Jack
"You want me to get you some stones?"
Hilarious!
(It seems Jack has grown a set of stones lately, the way he stands up to the Others!)
Just finished watching and catching up on all your comments. I tend to agree...what did we really learn from this episode. Promos are soooo overblown! And, were there more commercials than usual?
1. When Tom said: "You want me to get some stones." Reminded me of the black and white stones with "Adam and Eve" and the stones in Desmond's apartment from last week.
2. Anybody get a fix on Jack's necklace in Thailand?
3. When Sawyer, Kate and Karl set up camp on the big island and Sawyer (whom Kate calls James)offers Kate some fruit: Reminded me of Adam and Eve and the apple/temptation.
4. Do the Others really think they're offering the kids a better life? Why don't they offer everyone a better life?
5. The whole tattoo/marking thing: Didn't seem so mysterious to me. Why was Akra (?) so mysterious about her "gift"? Anybody could have "read" Jack! LOL
6. Teddy bears are a running theme here. Preview showed the teddy bear being dragged through the jungle...Ursas Theadorus constellation...a newer looking bear being passed among the 2 kids.
7. So it definitely looks like Jack and Juliette are going to be together...working to get "home". However, Ben calls the big island "home".
8. Tattoo translation: "He walks amongst us, but he' not one of us."
9. The Others sure have a lot of boats, don't they?
As usual, I'm pretty lonely when I'm finished watching LOST! :(
I was surprised that there weren't too many comments to catch up on. (Usually there's about 100 or more...tonight only about 40 or so)Guess that means something!
(Hey, Jess4ua: Great to see you here!
Did anyone else get an 'Initiation' feeling with Cindy's "we're here to watch Jack." Like how you're required to observe before being allowed to become a citizen of another country. You know, cultural training (or maybe brainwashing.)
I didn't see faces, and not that the extras would be the same, but did anyone notice how many people were standing outside the cage when Jack woke up? If I'm not mistaken the Others got somewhere close to 16 people from the tail section, and at least three were there (Cindy and both kids)
Oh yah....And what's with using the north star inverted as a brand...
Just finished the episode. While not as bad as Season 2 Episode 2 it has the same structure. A bunch of deleted scenes cobbled together, with a Flashback that at the very least felt tacked on for no good reason.
This is the perfect arguement as to why we don't need to be spoonfed everything. Maybe it'll get better on a second view. But check out the podcast monday morning to find out more.
maven: about the boats. ummm.......yeah, considering they live on the third island where the BARRACKS are and work over at the "experimental projects" island.
and the BIG island is the petri dish.
so yeah, boats are needed to travel 2 miles to and from other islands.
And though the episode lacked a good "surprise, we're taking the story THIS way now" kinda' feel......I liked it (sorta'). Reason being, it was a nice break from the "supernatural" crap of late.
Oh man, I had just typed this huge thing, and it disappeared. Guess I'll try again.
Here's a few ideas. I haven't rewatched yet.
1. The Others COMMUTE!?! Lostie12 called this last night at DarkUFO's chat. Maven, they do seem to have their own little navy of sorts. Maybe they've got an aircraft carrier somewhere too to land and launch planes off of.
2. Thinker at DarkUFO said, and I agree, that Cindy and the rest of that milling about group, weren't there to watch Jack, but to watch Juliet's trial. The noise of them wake Jack up and they have that brief conversation, but then they move on quickly toward the building. Creepy stare by little Zack there too.
3. Teddy Grahams should have run an ad last night (or maybe they did subliminally).
4. There were a couple of lines of dialogue directed at us the viewer last night like "Don't ask questions, just have fun" and "It's not that simple."
5. The Others make no sense to me, but then neither did the Hatch until it blew up. Is it going to take all season to get some fix? For example, why do you send the one surgeon to make the list when you could have sent annoying book club member Adam? Also, how are they "not that kind of people" that would kill Jack, but Pickett could not stop trying to kill Sawyer, they are willing to kill Juliet faster than a lynch mob and if Kate, Sawyer or Karl return they'll kill them all? What separates Jack other than his way around a kidney sac and an infection he and Tom caused?
I've got more but I'll wait for someone to show up.
i seriously doubt they can LEAVE the series of islands. They're for traveling between the islands. some require ores and the others are "small enough" that they wouldn't make it far out to sea. Plus, they're probably limited to how much fuel can be on each vessel, to keep them from attempting to get far enough to "drift" until someone discovers them.
as for Cindy and the other "others", i agree. they were there for the "witch trial". However, how sick is that? "we're here to watch".
whether those lines were directed toward us or not, i think it's very ignorant of them to have had us fans "band together" and simply expect us to "stop thinking" now. pompous butt-munches.
as for them "killing", they have a twisted way of justifying things.
they probably have a Bible somewhere and some moron (Jacob) misinterpreting it and twisting the words to sound like they should justify certain things, etc. the Others are looking more and more "CULT-LIKE" by the episode. This reaks of Children of the Corn and other such "manipulated religion" films/stories.
Chucklez, I agree about the cult thing. Don't drink the Kool-aid Jack.
yeah, if they hand out sneakers and black robes, i think i'd want to start looking for an exit.
umm........who's that a picture of, memphish??
Billy Joel's Glass Houses' Album Cover.
ah
So I'm reading the episode recap over at Lostpedia, and I had forgotten this.
Tom says to Jack, you pulled this stunt to free your friends and they just left you. But if they know Jack (and after that 10,000 flashback episode, who doesn't?) why didn't they see that one coming? Come on, this is Mr. Self-Sacrifice himself. His name is Shephard as in the Shepherd that would leave the 99 to find the one lost lamb, as in the Shepherd that would give up his life for others. I guess maybe they are pounding into us all the qualities we know and understand about Jack so that when we see him later and he's all Other-like we'll see what a change there's been. If this is the big bomb, it's going to land as a dud on this viewer.
Is there anything else we need to see in a Jack flashback at this point? I guess we might get an on-island one at some point if he's missing for as long as I bet he's going to be missing.
And here's another question:Does anyone really think Jack would leave his "friends" from 815 and go home and blithely forget about them?
did you connect the "shephard" thing with the "he walks among us, but isn't one of us"???
as in "SAVIOR"???
I know this show has a lot of religious overtones, but he's "self-sacrificing" and we're looking at a cult here. so, maybe they see him like this now. i don't know.
and remember when juliet said that ben called the other island "home"??
yeah.....he told jack, "this is home. if you help me, i'll take you there". or did i remember incorrectly?
remember, Jesus walked among the theives and prostitutes. eh.....maybe i'm reaching, but at this point, nothing seems like it's much of a "reach".
I like it Chucklez. Maybe Jack should offer them Kool-Aid? And yes, creepy Ben told Jack he'd take him home and we were all like he doesn't mean real home you stupid Jack, he means Island #1.
I found Jack's next piece of jewelry. Check out my avi now Chucklez
yup. never bought into the idea that ben could simply "leave".
but ultimately, while not the best episode, last night's was "refreshing" in a way. you know, getting away fromt he sci-fi for a while.
i'm looking forward to next week's episode.
hahaha.
nice.
i think the island is being secretly run by the gummi bears. you know how they had the underground tunnels and all. hahaha.
http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g114/roxymypal/Random/gummibears_636.jpg
Good call chuck
Chucklez it looks like it's just the two of us this morning. Here's the best thing I've read about the episode so far:"Well, add one more mystery to the pile of unanswered questions about what's happening on this show: "Why aren't people in ABC's promo department allowed to watch the episode before crafting their wildly inaccurate commercials?"
I seem to have become the chief cynic this morning.
hmmm.......agreed.
answers from last night's eppy:
1. where'd the "kidnapped" survivors go? duh. brainwashed at island #2, transported to the barracks at island #3.
2. What do Jack's tattoos mean and where'd he get them? (like anyone really cared before last night).
wast there anything else??
also, anyone notice that even SAWYER is looking more and more like an other???
Heck, Sawyer was the best part. Jaws and Brady Bunch. It's a good thing for Clementine that Sawyer's not around for fatherly advice. He stinks at it.
sawyer: has sex with kate (ploy to empregnate her), hording the weapons before, constantly "challenging" jack, stepping on everyone's toes, but always seemingly with an agenda. Etc., etc.
i'm not saying i believe this, just that it's funny how we can read nearly ANYTHING into stuff on this show now.
maybe that's why he was so "mesmerized" at the film in room 23. he's been there before, perhaps
Well he needs something to do other than being p**&y about Kate. So it used to be when you had sex that you got shot. Now it seems to be that when you have sex you turn into a shrew. Rose and Bernard are always bickering, Sun and Jin and now Kate and Sawyer. So kids, be careful what you wish for.
2costa, in the flashbacks in Thailand they were saying "sawatdeeka" or "sawatdeekop" which is used as a greeting and a farewell in Thailand, not Namaste. I visited Thailand for a while and it was kind of cool hearing the language again.
My husband and I were talking last night and I really think this could be the "Jump the Shark" episode. The writers seem to be grasping at what to do and are rehashing things already known then throwing in something to save the episode like, "Oh! A new myserty... Branding marks!" What??? Nothing better than that???
Personally, I am quickly losing interest. Even the thought of watching the next few episodes pains me because I am now asking, "I'm I just wasting time?"
So sad :-(
"Lost Time" will be a metaphor for how we feel when this show ends, if the writers and producers don't do something quickly.
hahaha
Okay, I actually kind of liked this episode.... at least, I'll say it was pretty good for a Jack episode, which are usually my least favorite. At least he didn't cry!
As I see it, this episode brought up way more questions than it answered:
1) What was the deal with Cindy and her posse? What were they supposed to be watching? Were all of those people Tailies, or were some of them Others? If you were Jack, wouldn't you have gotten the answer to at least one of these questions before you sent them scurrying away? And how could he resist dropping the Ana Lucia bomb on them? That would've wiped that vague smile off of Cindy's face, I'm sure.
2) What exactly did Karl do? We know for sure now that he is an Other, but there must be more to it than "The boss doesn't like me dating his daughter." 2a) Why hasn't anyone picked up on the Alex/Rousseau connection yet?!
3) When in Jack's timeline does this flashback fall? Obviously early enough so that he had time to get a couple more tattoos before he came to the island, but recent enough so that the flashback hair was not neccessary.
4) Did Isabel come up with that hairstyle by herself? If so, are the Others sure that she is of sound enough mind to be the sheriff? Yikes.
Hi Chuck, Memphish, and everyone else!
I'm catching up on the comments and will post mine soon. Overall, I thought the episode was OK--it had a mixture of interesting scenes and pretty bad scenes. Glad to be spared from some heavy sci-fi for a while. And very glad that I listened to the ABC podcast and knew ahead of time that there would be no big revelations. For once, being spoiled was a benefit!
melissa:
1. they were there to watch the "execution" of juliet. He was thinking they were there to "watch" him, so he "shooed" them away. That's why he didn't care if they left. he WATNED them to. As for Ana Lucia, he feels they're "toying" with him. So, he snaps and yells for them to "scram".
2. don't know. and.........don't know.
3. This was shortly before the flight i'm guessing. She mentioned he was there to "find himself" or something like that. In fact yes, but also to find his dad and return to the U.S. i'm thinking. Either that or it's before his dad went missing and he was simply on vacation. eh.
4. Hey, the others aren't exactly "all there" to begin with. Isaac from "The Children of the Corn" had a horrible haricut, but hey. That worked out for them...........for a while, anyway.
hahahaha
Bad hair of the night awards were definitely a tie between the Sheriff and the "gifted" tattoo artist. Should she have been insulted when she told Jack she had a gift and he didn't give her a little "you certainly do" affirmation? What is proper suspected Thai hooker etiquette?
well, speaking from experience (prior Marine), Jack should've done a "crotch check" on her before they continued to ummm......."intimate relations". Thailand = you never know.
I could SOOOOO see a "Crying Game" scene happening here. Yikes!
After rewatching desmonds lost I think that his sequence was in his head and not a flashback.
Does Jack really know what his tatoo said. He said i know what it says but thats not what it means.
Cindy and the kids definatley have the feel of room 23.
Is lost basically coming down to a love story. The Karl/alex thing with the stars at the end seemed a little like a soap opera - destiny will bring us together.
chuck, I DO NOT want to know what kind of "experience" you are refering to. :)
Also, am I just really slow? ABC's promos prmised that 3 big mysteries would be solved. Now forgetting the "big" part, I'm assuming the mysteries they were refering to were: 1) what Jack's tats mean; 2) what happened to Cindy and the kids; and 3).....? What was the third mystery that they were refering to?
kvonhard:
1. i think she's been brainwashed, but i've thought about the fact that EVERYONE on the crew was initially a part of the "workers" bringing the passengers to the island. when they were on their descent, the anomole happened, ripping the plane apart (accidentally) and the rest is history.
2. yes. those that are supposed to be more easily "manipulated and molded".
as for your assessments to quetions "answered".
1. yeah.
2. Ummm......personally, she was the last person on my mind (just after whoever was in the lavatory when the plane broke up).
3. the place where they were (currently) is not "alcatraz". that's the "experimentation" / work site. where they're GOING is the barracks island, which also is a security island ("alcatraz").
4. the tattoos really seemed miniscule until last night. i think it was a "brainstorm" of one of the writers at 4am, running on "empty".
your final "thought" ---- I agree.
Yeah, they should have at least had that music playing in the bar or something Chucklez.
Kvonhard, about Cindy, if she was a plant, why didn't they take her when they took the kids? She seemed pretty "I've been terrorized by the Others for 40 days" right up until they took her (but then they probably told the actress to play it that way.)
And I don't know if Cindy looks happy. She looks weird. But maybe she is happy. I have a flight attendant friend and she complains about the jerks she encounters all the time. Maybe she only has "nice" people to serve now.
As for the tattoos--of course crazy stalker Jack would demand them. He only seems to communicate in shouts these days. But it doesn't follow to me that he would get more and bigger ones (the 5 and the stars and one on his back you can see in the Pilot) post-Thailand. I'm now officially suspending disbelief and accepting it's the price I have to pay for Matthew Fox not Michael Keaton being Jack.
no. not that i personally had an "experience". hahahaha. just that i know a couple of guys who did. i've NEVER done stuff like THAT!!
:P
i'm with you on the "third mystery". dunno.
Chucklez, where are you getting the Island #3 info? From the Pearl video? Do you Othersville from A Tale of Two Cities is Island #1 (complete with our Losties) or Island #3 because Juliet says Ben is going home which doesn't say Barracks to me.
mittelos site: that site was created from "leaked info". we know it's not an "in-game" site, however it had all the right info for the show that came after the site was released.
therefore, i'm sticking with the info being correct.
also, did anyone else notice that the motor-driven boat is the one walt and michael were on??
i said this back when ben "SUPPOSEDLY" let them go, that they were actually sent to a "holding area" (prison island).......aka "the barracks".
and "home" means where BEN CALLS HOME. that's what he told jack and juliet.
hmm......maybe that's why she cried. hahaha.
or maybe "home" was meant to be "Heaven". (releasing her from her Earthly shell). Again, a CULT reference here perhaps. eh.
hey, memphish - thanks for the tip on jigsaw puzzle #4! I couldn't find it in the stores, but I just ordered it online. Can't wait for it to arrive! :)
Also, thanks for the tip on the official podcast. You were right, there was some great info about Desmond's experience in there.
Is jack still a hostage?? Earlier they take him to the cage in chains, and then they let him roam free on the boat ride to "home".
I was half expecting Im the "king of the island" at the end with him and Juliet at the front of the boat.
we also saw how much "power" ben actually has last night, over the rest of the others.
a simple written letter to "stay" the execution.
my question is this though. if jack was BARGAINING.........why wouldn't he have read the letter BEFOREHAND, thus not being "surprised" about "marking her"????
hmmm....."marked"? as in taking the mark of the devil? okay, let me get away from the religious/cult overtones for a bit. hahaha.
When they said they were marking Juliet I thought it might be a tattoo like Bai Ling's on her back which might possibly start to connect some dots for Jack.
Hello All! I am a serious lurker and feel like I know all of you very well. LOL Memphish, Maven, Chucklz love your thoughts. Yeah, I was pretty ticked off after last night. I mean, I am a huge lost junkie and have been since Sea. 1. I have compiled a notebook on all of the TLE stuff/lostpedia, etc. I even bought (and read) Gary Troup and a t-shirt with the "numbers" last time I was at MGM. I am now feeling like I have wasted a lot of time and money. It is the only TV show that I actually wa†ch. Seems like commercials are more frequent and as everyone seems to agree, that not enough questions have been answered. I used to have LOST parties every Wed. nite, but it is so late now, that almost everybody just watches it from home. I am up until midnight, then have to get up and educate young minds???? Ugh... I just need some reassurance to keep watching the show and reading the blogs!!! Anyone else a sucker like me?
Deja vu, put me in the sucker club. Even though I didn't like the episode I was on my computer until 11:30 pm Central time and I woke up much earlier than usual too.
to me the asian lady asked jack about kite to get in his head, it begged the question of his childhood then when he was gonna talk about his dad she said she had no interest in his dad, a guy like jack loves to hear stuff like that cause he has always lived in his dads shadow.
I had an epiphany after my drunken post last night. I have been saying its the eyepatch guy controlling the monster who wants charlie dead. Charlie killed ethan their surgeon. The rule is an eye for an eye, thats why they are intent on killing charlie,payback...
I wanna add a theory that I conjured up ages ago. This goes way back to the epi w/ Locke wiggin' out on goodness knows what in the little hut when he flashed to seeing everyone in the airport. Sun and Jin and Sayid were arguing or something...
I think that when Sayid was with Danielle that they extracted some of his seed and impregnated Sun with it when she was abducted from her "garden". I am probably way off here, but I am trying so hard to stay away from the alien-y stuff.
Back to the present, btw, what ever happened to DarkAngel? I haven't seen him post since the break, I think.
that lady was some kind of religious oracle. SOrt of like the australin healer. She got payed large amounts of money to judge peoples souls then mark them if appropriate. She didnt want to mark jack cause he wasnt in her religion, when he insisted she put he walk among us but is not one of us so cover her own ass, if she put he was a great leader on an outsider she would have been punished. Not everybody on phucket bowed to each other only the devout. If you look at it his tat wasnt nesseccerilly negative, she could have meant he was the only leader their and they are all followers
memphish - just loved your comments on this episode. I agree with most of what you had to say.
I'm trying to look at the big picture after this episode -
How important is Jack going to be to the show as a whole? I ask because he was originally going to be killed off in the pilot and now he has had the most 'centric' episodes of any of the characters and he is the 'leader'.
How important is Desmond going to be to the show and how important is Ben? All of these actors were supposed to have a short time on the show so how can their stories really have any weight to a show that supposedly was all mapped out from the beginning.
I'm confused...
Know-what-I-mean?
Thanks, mem, don't feel so lonely anymore. LOL I tend not to get on the net after the show, coz it takes my mind forever to process. I wait till I have had a night (or half a nights) sleep and a little lesson planning, then read all the posts. I really want to take more part in the posts, but sometimes I feel like I am way off from everyone else's mindset.
Oh, maybe I haven't posted too much coz it is a pain!!! I have to try a million times to get it to go thru! Grrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!
Now about this episode on its own. I like Jack, so I like all of his episodes. I know that is silly, but I'm just being honest.
His tatoos were a 'major reveal'. oooookkk. I don't know if I would classify the information that way, but whatever. I did like finding out the meaning at the end since you can look at it at least 4 different ways:
1. The obvious ironic meaning - he is not an 'other'.
2. He is a leader among anyone and everyone.
3. Religiously - he is a savior.
4. He is not Thai.
I wanted a number sequence in my post. I'm such a follower. :))
Cattygirl, I know what you mean. I've thought since ComicCon in July that the "mind-blowing" thing that was going to happen in approx. Ep. 13 this season would be to kill Jack and maybe Kate and Sawyer too and say psyche, you thought this show was about Jack, but actually it's about Desmond and about Desmond and Penny.
You know after all the Easter Eggs the last 2 weeks don't you think they could have thrown us a little bone this week? I mean people have been analyzing Jack's tattoos for 2+ years already. Yeah we got that thing on Juliet's back to play with and I haven't seen any other occurrence of it, but come on. What am I going to read when I finish Stranger in a Strange Land later today?
To me they added a distinct judeaism slant on this episode, the mark of cain is a jewish thing too. Jacob was the grandson of abraham. Although god renamed jacob isreal and promised him as many descendants ass stars in the sky(tie in karls looking at stars), jacob had a cain and abel like past where he tricked his brother easaw(sp.) out of his birthright by wearing the fake fur cause his father issac was blind and he felt jacob and thought he was his brother and gave him the birth right. All this speaks to gods forgiveness. Remeber jacobs 12 sons were the fathers of the 12 tribes of isreal. Another thing i noticed is they have a caste system in the others, which makes sense since their religion seems to be a mishmosh of hinduism buddhism ,judeo-christianity, and egyptian religion
deja vu - I'm with you - there is no way I could post after the show. I'm lucky I'm still awake at the end let alone getting online. I bet I watch it one more time and have a totally different feel. Oh well.
and it takes me a few tries with google form me to post these.
jack had his tattoo before the others took him so it was just as ironic when he was among the 815'ers. I think the fact that cindy didnt know about ana-lucia shows the caste system i reffered to. The mrs clughs and bens are higher up than the average sheep of the others. I think part of jacks flashback was to show sometimes he can suuspend his moral and question and just go with it. freinds with benefits sex and tats are out of character for jack, but he was willing to go with the flow sometimes.
hey everyone
long time lurk-er first time post-er.
has anyone seen the sharrif before?
i was looking at some older ester egg shots. . .
i came across the Degroot watching people doing jumping jacks and well does the blond haired woman look like the sharrif to you?
here is the link:
http://humpys.net/view_pic.php?id=173&season=2
Thanks, catty. Love the pic, btw. I would love to post mine, but haven't gotten that figured out yet.
Do we know why Jack was in Phuket?
by the way ben was the name of one of jacobs sons
i think he was in phuket after his marriage dissolved or after he ruined his dads carreer, notice jack was drinking all the time like his dad...
hey de ja vu. i remember you.
;)
Thinking about Jack's tattoo, what it says and what it means. So it says "He walks amongst us, but is not one of us." Bai Ling says he is a leader, a great man, but lonely, frightened and angry. I don't quite get how that equates, but a leader does stand above the rest of us arguably as would a great man, but where's the negative marks in that? Maybe it's in all caps to show that Jack is shouting!
Morning all: I'm feeling a lot of frustration out there. LOL As usual, a lot of promised answers, but only more questions.
Definitely think that Ben was never going to send Jack and Juliette "home". His word "home" means the main island...the Other's home. No one lives on Alcatraz, it's just a work area, where they do their experiments and projects. (Sort of like: "It depends on what "is" is." LOL)
Also confused about the time frame of Jack's Thailand "vacation". Still seems he's hung up on Daddy issues (Daddy never taught me how to fly a kite!). His look seems pretty recent, though...hair, stubble...etc. Yeah, Bai Ling's character was pretty annoying to me. Anyone without her special "gift" could read Jack!
Even though I'm a little disappointed in last night's episode, I'm still hooked and won't give up.
I got the feeling that Bai Ling was lying to Jack in what she verbally told him, then put the truth about him in the tat
How can you give up knowing the dog of doom returns next week. I've actually taken to calling my own dog, the dog of doom as well, the younger one who annoys me, not the older I annoy her one.
Cattygirl,
Excellent question!
I suspect that TPTB originally had another character in mind to be carried off (and possibly converted?) by The Others, but later settled on Jack as their choice.
As for Ben, when we knew him as Henry, he made several references to a mysterious "HE" that was in charge. I'm guessing that TPTB liked Emerson's acting so much that they decided to make a slight course correction and let Ben be the "HE" and not cast another actor for that role.
But as for Desmond, I don't know. It sure seems like the actions and fates of he and Penny are of vital importance to the overall mythology of the show, but how could TPTB know that the same actor would be available for the part later in the series?
It almost seems like TPTB have certain EVENTS that they want to have happen at certain points in the story, but are flexible enough in their writing to change course as to which characters are involved in those events. Maybe they had someone else originally in mind to turn the failsafe key?
maven: alcatraz is what some people have dubbed the "work and experimentation island".
alcatraz means (to me) a prison. I still firmly believe we will see the next island as just that. or part of it, anway. the next one would be more suited for that moniker then.
For those of you who like spoilers there's new Kristen stuff.
Back to the OT refs, could there be 12 tribes of Ben(jamin)? And who would be Esau?
Where the heck has Locke been lately?
What was the decal on the podium in the "court room" that Juliet was in?
Deja Vu,The court room had a Hydra station podium.
deja vu......ummm....where do i remember you from? i'm sure it's the "experience", but haven't i spoken directly to you before??
locke has been in his "hut" writing a speech for his rescue. hahaha.
If they can't leave the islands, then why keep people in cages and cells? I kidna feel like they are doing some time travel stuff (like Jack's flashback) and they are watching the subject's body as he is in time travel.... Or... does the body physically have to go too? Oh, jeez... gives me a headache!

This is fairly common in script writing. Certain narrative elements are required to keep the story moving forward, but the characters and situations can fluctuate.
As an example, look at the out-takes on any recent DVD release -- the latest Star Wars movie comes to mind. The narrative content and exposition in the out-takes was generally worked into other scenes, sometimes with other characters.
Regarding mystery #3 -- my take is that mystery #3 is "who is really in charge?" and the answer came back "It's Benjamin Linus!"
they keep them in the cages and cells, so they don't escape and they have to chase them down, blah, blah.
put it this way. you catch an animal to experiment on it.......what do you do? keep it in a cage. if you let it go, it's gonna find a way to escape or at least try.
then, all that effort has to be RE-EXERTED to capturing the "subjects" yet again.
As for the OT stuff. I talked a little bit about this last night, but I agree 2costa that this was a very Jewish, we are a seperate people, a separated out group of people episode. And we are hard core with our judicial system as well.
Tara Lynn, I don't think we've seen the Sheriff before, and they said her name is Isabell, not Karen. Someone said she might have been the woman on the boat with Mr. Friendly when they took Walt, and I suppose a case could be made for that post-hoc because of course they were wearing costumes back then. Glad you de-lurked.
i agree with blueheron and have thought this for a while. they know where they want to go, but not the route to take to get there. this leaves it open for many "changes" from week, to week.
chucklez, on your comment, true, true, sometimes the simplest explanations get lost in the muddle
.... no, never posted before today. Oh, well, once asked dennis or admin for help with iTunes stuff. Never spoken to you directly. Maybe you're psychic and knew me as I lurked my way thru TLE! LOL You may have the gift!
Well, I'll check back later today, have to go actually work now... Ciao!
wait.....no, i swear i remember your profile name.
from RBR maybe???
If you like snarky recaps, and frankly I live for snarky recaps, there is TV Squad's and Television Without Pity's for your reading pleasure.
at first i thought to that there were three islands, but i think the suburbothers are on 815 island, when the opalne crashes ben sent ethan and goodwin to different parts of the big island. This will be good for the show cause they will all be on one island again now. They may be cloaked somehow
okay, i'm not quite sure what you just said there.
o_O
twelve tribes of ISreal (jacob), i think its a safe bet that jacob is bens father on the show just as in the ot
my point wuith esau was god made a cheater his partiarch, perhaps ties in to their fascination with sawyer. Or to how ben was pretty forgiving to hjack and julliette
chuck i was saying that the others dont live on a third island they live on original lost island, part of why they had hurley come with jack kate and sawyer was to confuse them to their real whereabouts. The others are leazing alcatraz cause they know they will look for jack there, but they didnt count on karl telling sawyer the scoop about their backyards and not living on alcatraz. Maybe their subdivision is past the line zeke/tom said not to cross
eh. I still roll with the idea of the third island.
and as far as the second one, we saw only people working there and stations for experiments, etc. Nothing in way of "prisons". the cages and what-not were more of "holding cells", etc.
Again, so far, that mittelos site has NOT steered us wrong in reference to INFORMATION. i wouldn't discredit it for having "inside info" on the third island either based on that.
island #1 = petri dish for "preparing" the subjects, etc. Plus, only one big enough to hold all the "hatches".
island #2 = work areas, labs and "training/experimentation".
island #3 = barracks, prison, etc. more of a "society" than the other two islands.
What about this idea. Jack is actually short for Jacob. Jack is a younger version of Jacob and at least some of the Others including his son Ben are not enslaved by time and space so they know this and are concerned with preserving Jack and preserving him on this Island because of this information. Thus Ben will take him "home" which is on the island and Tom will not kill Jack when they move him. As discussed before Biblical Jacob is a deceiver and schemer. Jack's been up to that kind of stuff all season though he's still not very good at it.
Sawyer is Esau the crude twin brother. Ever since I read Bad Twin I've been thinking that the twins are Jack and Sawyer and of course the key to that book is that they are really both "bad" and "good." There is not just a bad twin.
Jacob loves and wants to marry Rachel but is first tricked into marrying her sister (who is named Leah, not Juliet unfortunately.)
As for the cloaking thing, maybe they've done something like the runaway industrialists in Atlas Shrugged who cloaked their home. You could get to it only if you knew the right approach and the inhabitants could come and go, but others couldn't locate them even when they had some notion of where to look.
Did anyone else notice that there was no sound when the words 'LOST' pop up at the end of every episode. There is usually a loud bang type sound or something like that but this time nothing...silence.
Maybe its happened before just curious if anyone can confirm if it changed.
All right, I'm going to go get a life now. I'll be back later. I'd love to hear what you 2costa and you chucklez, plus everyone else thinks about my last post.
memphis tom said before sheppard wasnt even on Jacobs list so i dont think so
i think they are sick of splitting time between 2 islands if im right they could go back to the goled age of lost scnerio where they are all fighting over the same island
if the others have all these slick boats and a submarine why did they sen ben back on some decrapatated rowboat? Totally off the subject but remeber when swayer and mike remarked at the beginning of season two that the boat they took walt with wasnt capable of going across the ocean. That happens to be the boat that they gave mike and walt so i think there is no way they escaped last season. By the way i think isabelle is ben's wife and alex's adoptive mother
i also thought it was alot like when juliettes ex got hit by the bus when mike said he was gonna fight for walt then promptly got hit by a car. They prolly have been testing on walt for quite some time. They never wanted jack the point of 815 was walt claire and possibly locke, i think lockes little cristain weed growing cult reminded me of the others now that they have added all this judeo-christain imagery
i agree 2costa.
have we SEEN any boats that are "slick"? i haven't. i've seen FOUR.
Desmond's, two that require ROWING and the one they were on last night (same as walt and michael).
btw..........walt and michael are probably at the third island.
and as for a submarine, still haven't seen one. and even so, it's not a powerful enough one to go far.
and the boat walt and michael were on, couldn't have traveled far by sea. and the "heading" given to walt and mike was to the third island, in my opinion.
i also think that with all this time travel talk lately people have been confusing desmonds precog skills with his flashback. In the flashback he had prior knowlede from the island but only up until he turned the key, from living it already. In the present he has flashes of things from the future that he hasnt lived already. I am pretty posative in that the island(aka black smoke super computer controlling eyepath kelvin) is trying to kill charlie for payback for ethan, an eye for an eye right. I also think ethan was a convert like julliette and i think that theat shows that they let you totally into their inner cirlce if you meet their criteria
okay......i'm off on fridays.
plus, starting a new job on monday.
i'm moving this weekend, so i don't know when i'll be able to get back online in the future. i'll try to do so as much as i can. we'll see.
however, i'll be on until 4:30 today.
just thought i'd toss that out there.
i hope this all works out for me. if not, i'll be looking to move again in the future. hahaha. eh.
Yeah, I wondered last night why they didn't transport Ben on Desmond's nice sailboat, instead of that crappy tugboat. Probably just because they needed the motor?
gumby - I think they save that end-of-episode noise for when there's a dramatic and/or cliffhanger ending, which is most episodes. When they end with a quieter music-montage, it tends to be silent. It's like the opposite of 24, when they save the silent countdown for the most shocking endings.
Ok as far a the three so called answers. I think it's Jack's tats and what happened to Cindy and then what happened to the kids are considered as separate answers by ABC. Lame huh
A couple of things I found somewhat interesting. Karl doesn't seem to know the names of constelations (or maybe he just likes making up new names but that's not how I took it)and "maybe" Ben knows about the outside world but obviously eveyone doesn't since Karl didn't know who the Brady Bunch were.
I also found it interesting that Isabel said that most of them didn't like coming to the island that they were on. I wonder how many of them have been in room 23 and possibly other projects?
I actually liked this episode. Sure it was the lost version of a filler episode, but it wasn't a complete disappointment as some here seem to think.
Memphish,
What is wrong with Sally Slingshot... I liked that Sawyerism.
Chucklez3,
Where did you get this strange idea of a third Island, A lil' caught up in the Mittelos video, which was like 75% wrong. It had some right info, but alot was wrong as well.
Karl said that they lived on the main Island to Sawyer and Kate. As well there was never any indication that the barracks were on another island. Just that a ferry had to take you there. Most likely because it was just to far to walk. The Otherville town is deffinitely on the main (LOSTIES) island. By your assesment, when Ben took Sawyer to the cliff to see the other island, the walked from one island to another to show that you couldn't leave the island... huh? We know that the experimental island is Alcatraz because that is where the cages are.
My guess is that Jack was there after the break-up with the wife and after he blew up on his dad. He was just trying to get away from everything in his life, that he screwed up, and this is why he went to Phuket
opps one more thing. Is the boat they put Ben on the exact same one they gave Michael or do they have more than one boat that looks like that?
no ben was on a lame rowboat thet gave walt and micheal the power boat that they took walt witht he first time. I liked how they put jack in kate and sawyers love shack cell, The way he said to tome that camera right there. The way he discovered it was when he saw them knocking boots...you could tell that was underlying with jack
Those are two different boats, in my opinion. The dinky little boat Mike and Walt took off in was very small and easy to dock at Pala Ferry. When we first see this new boat, waiting off in the distance, (about the same time Jack sees Ben at the beach) this new boat looks much larger.
The fronts of the two boats looked the same to me, though.
Could be wrong. We need screencaps of both boats to clear things up for sure.
I should make clear that I'm referring to the two motor boats, not any of the rowboats like the one they put Ben on to get him out to the big boat.
bluehron13
Yeah I think you're right it is a bigger boat, although they do look similar in style.
2costa
sorry I guess I should have said the boat they were taking Ben to.
the mittelos site was NOT 75% wrong. it told us of juliet, rachel, the baby, the description of the mittelos grounds, location, the executive bios, etc.
nothing wrong. and again......watch and see. there's a third island. i'll expect a formal apology on my desk.....ummm.....the day after they reveal the third island.
hmmm......if a ferry "HAS TO TAKE YOU" anywhere, then it's not attached by land. duh. contradicted yourself there.
not quite sure what you just said about ben and sawyer though. maybe i misread the punctuation or something. run that by me again?
oh my god. okay, you're right cages = prison.
Listen genius, cages were initially for ANIMALS. lemme see........i believe there was a mentioning of "the bears did it in 2 hours" or some crap. Get real. that is NOT a prison.
and none of the other cells show me anything that would make me think 100% it's a prison either. all the rooms are OBSERVATION rooms. this is where you put people / animals to study the effects of experiements (cages and rooms).
the last part I agree with.
Everything else you said just sounds like you want to disagree because it's me.
eh.
2costa: at the end, they were on the ferry boat (engine-propelled)
I few of my observations from last night...
1- Jack-boy did not know what his tattoo's meant
2- The Thia chick was HOT!!!
3- Karl is a tool!
4- The Others are not as strong as we once beleived
5- Sawyer is smarter than Jack but the polar bears are smarter than both of them.
I am still not sold on the whole watchers thing, where are we in an episode of The Highlander?
If our Losties go to the main island wont they then have the power? There are a ton of cool things the Losties could utilize there.
Thinking back to when all the Benries in Benry-town looked up at the plane crashing the camera pulled back and showed that they were in the valley surrounded by big mountains...perhaps the mountains are to treacherous to climb with out proper equipment..and there are hidden passages under or through them...
Thrasher,
Ah, but the polar bears weren't ready for the Locke + Fire + Hairspray trick!
I'm back for a bit. Good luck with the move and new job Chucklez.
Dedjezter said,Memphish,
What is wrong with Sally Slingshot... I liked that Sawyerism. Nothing wrong with it, but my memory Ded. I like it too.
Blueheron, I agree this was a bigger boat tonight, but I haven't rewatched or seen pics.
Thrasher I agree Jack doesn't know what the tatts mean either. And now he's playing poker again with the Sheriff. Scary stuff.
Thrasher said,Karl is a tool! LMAO
And yes, how long would it take Locke to get a fish biscuit?
Hi Peeps,
Hey Ded, I liked the few Sawyerisms that we got this week as well. I also tend to think (until we get more info) that Jack went on his little vacay after his two blowouts. Perhaps that's why he chose the particular destination named Phuket, since pronounced a different way, it could symbolize a certain phrase of despair, giving up, or blowing things off, to Jack. You know, symbolically. :o)
I also think (until shot down by TPTB) that the boat that Walt and Mike were on was more about the size of a bathtub, and the one that Jack and Juliet were standing on was MUCH bigger (check it out in the distance while they are loading the rowboat). In addition, I would say that the they were just rowing Ben and company up to the larger boat from the shore, as the larger boat could not be brought as far into shore as the rowboat. I can't see them taking Ben all the way to Falcatraz like that.
And I'll ask this again, from last night....did anyone notice the look that Ben gave Jack after he commented to Sheriff-Lady about his tattoos? It was almost a look of respectful awe, for lack of a better word. Perhaps Ben and Jack will form a bond also in the near future. I don't think that the Jack/Juliet thing has to be about love either.....they might just join forces to get off the island as sympatico friends with the same problem.
Ahh, you are correct sir...and Chawlie was bait!!
It is very common to "wet" dock a boat off shore then ride a dingy or smaller boat in or out.
Did I just use dingy in a sentence? LMAO!!
I like being sick today, I can catch up between sneezes!!
ha, ha - Locke would just use one of his hunting knives to pry the front off that machine, and have as many fish biscuits as he wanted. :)
thrasher - hilarious - polar bear is smarter than both
Good call melissa_lossa. Still no Puzzle #4 at my local store either.
Capcom said, did anyone notice the look that Ben gave Jack after he commented to Sheriff-Lady about his tattoos? It was almost a look of respectful awe, for lack of a better word. I mentioned before that at first I thought Isabel was talking about Ben not reading Jack's tattoo. So yes, Capcom, I think this might be a link between the two of them. There was also that between gentlemen thing during Not in Portland as well. I think for some reason Ben very much wants to bond with Jack. (Maybe Kate is not his type either?)
Heh-heh, I could agree that Jack did not know Jack about what his tattoos meant also!!
Refresh all of our memories. When Benry was held by our Losties did Benry ever mention Jack's Tattoos to him while Jack was with him??
One of our collective brains should have this stored away somewhere!
Not to my knowledge Thrasher, but then it's always harder to prove the negative.
Yikes Blue!! Don't mention the polar bears and the hairspray, you'll get FYSB upset! :o)
That's a good way to put it Memphish, "between gentlemen". Very much so.
Chucklez, don't take posts and comments so personally, we don't do that here, that's why this Lost blog is so great. We just let everyone have their own theories, and have fun comparing them without ripping theories to shreds, like on other blogs and forums. Everyone gets their "air-time" here. It's a happy blog. :o)
(Cue Barney song) heh-heh.
eh, dejezter has always "approached" me like that. ever since the experience. maybe i'm reading into it, but read it again and tell me if it's not condensending.
and as for ripping things to shreds. hey, i'm defending MINE. he challenged me, not the other way around.
eh.
anyway........
And before I go to pick up the nephs....
Does anyone else get the feeling that Jack will be staying on the island for a long while (in island or dog years) and be able to freely roam around, thus the Sheriff finding so much interest or humor in the meaning of his tattoos? That would be an interesting turn....Kate says, "Jack, I rowed all the way back to save you!"...Jack says, "Eh, that's OK, I"m staying." Sawyer mutters his usual, "Sonovvableep..." :o)
OK....re-reading.....It's not condescending :-)
And even if it was....meh, who cares. "Let it roll of the back like water off a duck", says the great Confusious. Pick your battles, as they say, you have bigger challenges to fight in your life right now. Ohmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Namaste! :o)
Where'd we hear about mittelosbioscience being not in game?
capcom - I agree, Jack's in for the long haul. In fact, my guess is that we will not see him or the Others again for a few episodes. Alex and Karl, maybe, but no one else. Ben will get boring quickly if he has to just lay on his side all the time.
Does anyone else think that maybe Alex and Rousseau are the "reunion all Lost fans have been waiting for" that was teased in the promo for next week? I hope so!
keesh,
The LOST script coordinator, Gregg Nations, is on record saying that the site is a fan site, if I remember right.
chuck,
Best of luck with the move and getting a fresh start. Hope to see you on the posts down the road.
hey, blueheron - is it a little warmer on the East side? We've had days in the mid-40s this week!
mid-40s always seems warmer in February than it does in say, November, doesn't it?
capcom and melissa,
I can't speculate on whether or not Jack will be off the show for a while or not, or as to how he might be behaving if/when the beachgoers rescue him--because I've read too many spoilers about those subjects!
Those answers are out there...
hi melissa,
Yep, Southeast Michigan has been relatively toasty and the snow has been melting. You're right--45 degrees in February and you feel like you could wear shorts, but 45 degrees in the early fall feels awful.
thanks blue. i hope to be back. and soon, hopefully.
we shall see.
People have been driving here with their windows open! When it starts getting cold in the fall, everyone thinks, "man, it's like 45 degress outside - where's my wool sweaters?" Now, everyone's walking around without coats. :) Not me!
I have read some spoilers about Jack as well, but I have not heard whether he will be MIA for a few episodes. That I can only assume (although, I think it's a pretty solid assumption).
memphish - the people working at Barnes & Noble last night looked at me like I was crazy when I asked for that Lost puzzle! My husband looked on Amazon, and found it, with a release date of 11/29. However, I looked again today, and noticed that there were two listings for the same puzzle on Amazon - with different covers. One had a release date of 11/29, and one was available now from outside sellers.
Hopefully, mine is on its way!
There is code on those puzzles that is still unsolved, right?
Good afternoon fellow Locos. While I think last night's episode wasn't the best, it wasn't the worst either. And, it did answer 3 questions as mentioned earlier -- what happened to Cindy, what happened to the kids, and what the tattoos mean. I know I wanted the questions answered to be HUGE but every little thing helps.
Maybe I missed this last night, but what were Cindy, the kids, and the Others there to watch?
chucklez3... good luck with the move this weekend and keep that chin up!
ib4uc,
They were apparently there to watch Juliet's trial.
does anyone have ideas to who the shariff- isabel charater is. . .
she is someone with power and a specific role ( is it judge - oh maybe is there a correlation between OT jugdes and what she does, wait no isabell was a jelous queen right?)
is she an original hanso project scientist - someone who controls the test subects, records data, corrects imbalances?
i guess i am trying to find more to this episode especially after last weeks.
thanks to all the "good luck" comments.
Andy, I think you meant Jezebel with the jealous queen. I haven't seen any speculation on Isabell's name yet.
Clearly she's been there a while for Tom to call her "the sheriff" and her role is judge/peace officer seemingly in the more Europeon tradition where judges are the ones responsible for determining the facts and the outcome as opposed to our US/UK common law tradition that relies on juries as fact finders and advocates to present each side of the case. I guess if they'd showed us more of Isabell's questioning and the trial, Lost might now be categorized as a procedural show a la Law and Order. Ripped from the Coconut Internet Headlines it's the case of Juliet shoots Pickett!
More seriously, actually do we see if Isabell is the one who decides Juliet's case or is there a jury?
Hey Capcom, I'm heading in your direction this weekend, but will only get halfway there. I'm going to Nashville.
I think all we see is a brief glimpse of Juliet sitting, alone, next to a podium with the Hydra logo on it.
blueheron13... thanks for the clarification. I guess I was paying too much attention to the kids and the Others in the background and heard her say they were there to watch, then Jack started yelling at them to go away, so I didn't know if it had something to do with watching Jack or Juliet's "trial".
As far as the Sheriff, the only thing I think of when I see her is "NNNOOO WWWIIIRRREEE HHHAAANNNGGGEEERRRSSS!!!" (must be said in your best psyco-mom voice).
Yep ib4uc. I really hope we get some wire hangers back in Othersville to see what she does.
