There's a sneak peek clip out there (my understanding is that it was aired on US TV anyway, but I missed it). It felt different. The camerawork seemed a little different.

Did anyone else notice this, or is it just a difficulty on my part in getting used to new locales on the island (if Jack, Kate, and Sawyer are in fact still on the island)?

I predict that we don't get told ANYTHING about the Penny/Arctic/anomaly story line until after the break. Not cuz I'm smart or anything, but just because that's one of the things I want to know about the most and we know TPTB like to keep the BIG answers close to the vest for a long time. :-(

Lost in Portugal said...

Hello everyone!

capcom: I think the Penny storyline will be revisited in the end of the 6th episode, leaving a huge cliffhanger for the break!

I anxiously await the start of Lost season 3. But I have a couple nagging questions still about the ARG.

1) How is it that Alvar Hanso, at age 60 (?) has the ability to hear a digital camera running. They say your hearing is the "second" thing to go in reguards to aging. Hanso has the hearing ability of Fake Henry Gale in the Swan Bunker armory.
2) Since Alvar had "funny" blood, as revealed during the ARG, does Rachel, his daughter also have blood that would make an ER doctor say "huh?"
3) Why can't Mittlewerk kill Alvar? Is he "immortal" like John Locke's father?
4) With Mittlewerks goal setting abilities, does anyone really believe he will now throw up his hands and abandon plans to rid the world of 30% of it's humans?

maven said...

I for one am hoping that some of the ARG unanswered questions somehow get connected in the show. Obviously, some more answers about DHARMA and the Others will relate to TLE...who are they and why are they there? I think we'll learn about all the different experiments for the stations...what they were trying to learn and study...which we can relate to what we learned this summer about THF. No matter how many times TPTB tell us the ARG and Lost are separate, I don't buy it for one second. The two are interwoven like a spider's web (Spider Protocol anyone? LOL).

Looking forward to great discussions as S3 progresses, and maybe some answers to what THF/DHARMA were up.

thinbluemime said...

Looks as though my question #4 above has been answered with TLEC Clue #145

Mittlewerk is in the house!!!

monday lad - Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but all of those characters have already appeared on LOST (although I wouldn't quite refer to Penelope as Desmond's "ex").

I'd love to see more of how Hurley's boss came to be Locke's "boss." I know the producers have addressed it, but I'd like to actually see it.

I'm also hoping for more fuel to feed the Claire/Jack/Chistian fire.

Lastly (well, it's not the last thing I want to see, but I could go on forever), I want to know what the miracle girl in Australia and her "psychic" father have to do with the larger LOST story.

Boy, you ain't kidding.

Joseph Finchum said...

My guess is that A tale of two cities is going to deal with the big three in the others world as well as the old lostaway camp as Hurley is on his way back to give them the scoop. I really want to know who Carl/Kyle is and why is he in the cage next to Sawyer. What on earth is the deal with the big four toed foot, and of course my number one question. Why does that overgrown parrot know Hurley's name.

Joseph Finchum said...

Sorry to double post, but just after typing that in I saw a promo photo for season 3 and it has a bunch of the cast and desmond and Fenry are included. What bothers me though is the fact that no one in the picture is wearing shoes... except for Fenry. Does this mean that the new season has set the mood of the Lostaways being the others and the others being the main story arc. Like we have been here all along so this makes all of you the others here.

Hmmmmm?
Just thinking out loud.... again

Good morning all!

JGZ350 - Did you get your Apollo yet?

CattyGirl said...

I'm with you... I'm going to watch the recap too. I heard it is supposed to be illuminating.

I was thinking about Kelvin today. Are we sure he is dead? I can't remember if there is anymore proof then the scene where Desmond bashed his head into the rock. Did we ever see the body again or did Desmond speak of a grave?

engineer27 said...

cat: I've had a feeling since I first saw that ep. that Kelvin wasn't dead.

In fact, I suspected that the whole scene was orchestrated with the intent of keeping Des away from the hatch long enough for a system failure to occur, thus resulting in the crash of Oceanic815.

Bizarre string of coincidences, or all according to plan? You be the judge.

Of course if it is a plan, what is the goal? And whose plan is it?

Thrasher76 said...

Anyone excited to watch the re-cap show tonight? My fiance' and I have been trying to watch season one, but this should be a good refresher for me and a good start for her. I am so looking forward to season 3 now that I have a new HDTV!!!

The new Hanso Foundation is commited to being all that it had set out to be. With the help of our faithful followers on TLEC and Rachel Blake we can venture forward to a better tomorrow. The recap episodes are great. You sometimes forget stuff way back in S1. It also puts you back in our Lost mood we've been missing all summer, well TLE did an alright job in doing that...But I want Desmond, Jack, Swayer, and the rest.

Maven, TLE will be tied in the show for sure...Remember the article Tapdawg showed us saying it would? I really think that Alvar is going to be part of the show Lost somehow...

CattyGirl said...

I was excited to see my Entertainment weekly has a little pull-out booklet dedicated to Lost with Stephen King at the end asking some questions.

Melissa_Lossa said...

cattygirl - who's on the cover of that EW? I want to try to grab one at the store, if they're still out.

I generally find the recaps kind of lame, but that's because the last couple have been recapping things that just happened. This is the first time I've gone a whole summer without Lost (I watched season 1 on DVD), so it will be nice to catch up. I think I'll also watch the finale again before the premiere.

maven said...

Yeah, recap tonite! Even though I rewatched S1 and S2 this summer...looking forward to a refresher refresher!

Ryan: I'm pretty sure the 1975 Orientation part of the Sri Lanka video will show up somehow in S3...that's how Alvar and the ARG will be integrated into the show.

Also looking forward to the Finale Podcast on Thursday!

maven said...

Thrasher: That would be an awesome way to official "end" this! It sure will make a lot more people interested in what the heck is going on and, hopefully, keep this ARG going in the future.

Also, in case you didn't see my comment re your DJ Lena script! Loved it, very funny. Not even upset that MAVEN was used...at least your kitty is named after me!

Anyone else have blogger probs?

Just throwing out some ideas...

Do we have a consensus yet on how we are pronouncing TLC?

Right now I'm still saying T.L.C. like T.L.E.C., but I kinda leaning toward something more pronounceable.

If we shorten "The Lost Community", it would be LoCo or The Loco. That might be fun in a Hurly/Libby sort of way..

maven said...

Well...T.L.C. sort of sounds like the saying "Tender, Loving Care" or the cable channel "The Learning Channel". Guess I'm sticking with T.L.C....we do treat LOST with tender, loving care! LOL

dedjezter: Too funny! Ok. Teal'c it is for me!

maven said...

Snusan: No, I agree with you! Definitely has the intonations of our dear Rachel Hanso! She says over the loudspeaker: "We know exactly who you are, Jack Shepard!" Either it's her or someone who sounds awfully like her!

Joseph Finchum said...

I belive it was Bea klugh who said that and that is who it sounded like to me.

Okay Twinky, Me and you are starting the trend.

Welcome all to the teal'c blog!!!!!

CattyGirl said...

I was happy to hear Henry Gale again. "Who are the good guys?"

RyaNDrumZ said...

You'd think they would talk about Desmond a litlle more with the whole Penny situation and all...

Also, notice how they only mentioned Ana Lucia dying...This is just showing how Libby will be a big part in S3..In flashbacks I mean.

I like how they also showed the Scene where Hurley said, "or maybe another time" or something like that. That's because of what they said at ComiCon...Obviously they put it in the re-cap episode for some special reason. I think we might see that come into play...

maven said...

I thought the recap show was pretty good. Having Fenry narrate was kinda creepy, but was a good choice since he obviously will be figuring pretty hugely in S3.

I still think the voice on the loudspeaker was Ms. Hanso! I'd like to think it's a "tip 'o the hat" to TLE!

The Penuels said...

Added a link to THIS PROMO on the frontpage.

CattyGirl said...

JGZ350 - believe me, I wish I did know something more.

Maven - that would be great if it was Rachel. I wonder if we will see a face behind that voice anytime soon. My first thought was B. Klugh, but I'd rather if she was Rachel obviously. ;)

Thrasher76 said...

Last night's ep was pretty good, Melissa has not seen the middle parts of season one and the start of season two, so it was a good recap for her...I hope the rumors of an ARG in the 2 month hiatus are true....

Step 1: Hi, my name is Chad and I am TLEC addict.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I always like how Hurley can be counted on to say exactly what the viewers are thinking. I mean, when that music started playing, who DIDN'T think, "maybe they're picking up a broadcast from the past"?

Dennis said...

RyaNDrumZ said... Also, notice how they only mentioned Ana Lucia dying...This is just showing how Libby will be a big part in S3..In flashbacks I mean.

I noticed they made a determined effort to cut out everyone who was already dead in the show - Libby, Boone, Shannon. I guess they didn't want to overload new viewers.

BTW, I think any "preview" commercials or "on the next episode" clips should be considered *** spoiler *** material....

*********** SPOILER *************

I posted some of this at TLEC, but I'll repost it here:

I definitly think the voice on the loudspeaker sounds like Rachel Blake, but I don't think she could be "Rachel Blake" on the show. We may never see her on the show, but it's cool that they would use her voice. I don't think that is Ms. Klugh's voice. IMHO, her voice seems deeper and more "breathy".

I also thought the very last scene of jack opening the door was interesting. Underwater hatch anyone? Or maybe he is on the Helgus?

*********** SPOILER *************

maven said...

I think the recap show really stressed The Others, which we know is where the show is heading. Having Fenry narrate foreshadows that, too.

Dennis said...

Maven, I agree.

They were very clever to add the clip between Jin and Sun where Jin says:

"Don't worry about the others. We need to stay together."

Unknown said...

My favorite facet of the recap show was that Fenry did it in-character. That's a key point that would be easy to miss. It wasn't just Michael Emerson doing it. It was Fenry doing it. He never said anything bad about the Others, and stressed that the Losties broke the "line in the sand" pact first.

tlcm said...

I thought I get my first post up here at TLC.......

hey guys...........

RyaNDrumZ said...

Well, when Michael Emerson was narrating the part about Fenry being captured, he did not speak in first person..."They caught an other...A guy claiming to be Henry Gale"

Also, speculation on Kelvin being dead or not...When I saw that part, it sounded like he broke his neck. I don't think he survived.

FYSB said...

yes, jgz350, but it's all interstate!

Unknown said...

ryandrumz, jgz350 - IMO, it's self-referential third person. LOST couldn't have him refer to himself in first person, because then they'd either have to show him speaking at the end (and thus explain how he knew all of this) to not confuse the new viewers, or give up the conceit that this is "just a recap" for the new viewers.

It's a tip of the hat to the longtime viewers that the Others have access to essentially the same amount of info that the Viewers have.

Joseph Finchum said...

I still do not think that the voice is Rachel, not even a bit. There is an entirely different inflection to her voice than the voice that says the bit about jack. I also do not think that it is an underwater hatch. It would be cool if it were, but it is not. My best guess is that it is just a test/puzzle type thing, like sawyer in the cage. How do they get out is the question to ask ourselves. They did tests on Walt (yes we are going to talk about that... lol) and he spoke of being in the room which they didn't get into either. Maybe the room he is speaking of is the same room that they have jack in. One in which you need to use all your powers of deduction in order to get out of it. It is a little it of a stretch to think that he is in an underwater hatch, because there has never been any proof of an underwater hatch. Even if you put the overlay of the blast door over the map of the island there is no place for any of those hatches on the blast door to be out off the island.

This is all speculation on my part though so, you know what they say...

Talk amongst yourselves... lol

Dedjezter,

I like your thoughts and I like the idea of Jack stuck like a rat in a maze. My experience is that these trailers are usually intentionally very misleading.

I can't comment on the Rachel/no-Rachel voice over as I have not heard it, however my understanding is that Jamie was hired as part of TLE only and that neither Jamie or Rachel are likely to ever make and appearance in Lost proper.

BTW Dedjezter, I only twigged that your name was pronounced 'Dead Jester' when you explained it's origin - man I'm slow sometimes.

Not long to the start of season 3, I'm hoping I can watch it on Thursday or Friday night. My wife likes Lost but shes really a Prison Break fan, which I have to say is almost as good as Lost.

Wish we had viewing parties here (northeastern PA), but it is hard enough to find another Lost geek let alone a party full.

Chris Procter said...

Hi Cattygirl,

I know what you mean, the Season Finale has just aired in the UK and people are saying 'hey did you see the Season Finale' and I'm there, well yes back in May, but I'm really focused on Season 3. I'll probably see the season premier on the Thursday or Friday after it airs in the states but most people here in the UK won't see it until some time next year!

FYSB said...

Hey UK!

My 2 cents/pence is that the voice was Jamie's, but she's not going to be on the show. The way she says Jack Shepherd sounds soooo much like her. But just because she's making an announcement over a loudspeaker doesn't mean she'll be a character.

Also, I got my hair cut last night and my hair lady was all excited because she had just rented and watched Season ONE.

Chris Procter said...

Hi FYSB,

great hearing you on the podcast. I agree that Jamie could have been a voice only cameo, that would have been easy to record and a nice little thankyou.

Now Season 1 - I remember that....

Funny to think there used to be a life before Lost!

Chris Procter said...

Hi JGZ350,

My lunchtime pint was very nice thanks, a pint of Guiness which is something I don't really drink anymore.

Now Mexican and a couple of Coronas that sounds good. The Mexican food was one of the highlight's of my trip to Texas a few years ago. We had just flown into Huston via Paris (after being bumped of our flight, lost luggage etc) and we found this cheap little Mexican dinner in Huston. It was brilliant - proper Mexican food, I felt I was in the 'real America'. Sounds silly but that was one of my favorite memories of Texas, much more than the touristy stuff like The Alamo or the Space Centre.

Wow guys! It's fun to see all the "wrap up" convos going on lately over on TLEC. Just so you know, the plan is to leave BOTH this thread and the latest thread on TLEC up UNTIL WEDNESDAY and then we'll do one more post at TLEC directing people HERE and to STORIESOFTHELOST.COM.

I just wanted to add that I am so grateful and touched by all the support that has been poured out towards myself and the other administrators of this blog over the last few days. The community that has developed here has literally been a dream come true. You guys have thanked me a lot lately but truly, all of the credit goes to you...it is easy to do the facilitating when there is such a brilliant, diverse, and beautiful group of people doing all the participating. It was a blessing to participate with you all this summer.

Finally, I wanted to let everyone know that I'll be around off and on today and then tomorrow I am leaving to go out of town on a short vacation to celebrate my ONE YEAR WEDDING ANNIVERSARY (Ryan, thank you very much for sharing that video with everyone). Immediately after that, I will be traveling to a work-related conference in Atlanta (Much like the one Jim, Michael, and Dwight attended on last night's episode of the Office). I will not have access to a computer until Tuesday evening and then will have limited access until next Friday. Don't worry, I'll be sure to get a post up next Wednesday on TLC and I already have plans to watch the Season premiere and blog out of my hotel room! If you don't see me for a few days, know that I'm not disappearing...I very much look forward to engaging with this community on a regular basis as Season 3 develops.

Okay...***end of Sappiness/Announcement***

In the promos Sawyer is in a cage and Jack is in chains somewhere, and they show Kate being led around. I think they are going to make Kate do something she doesn't want to and make her choose between freeing Jack or Sawyer. (Does that make sense?)
But, what role could Sawyer have in life that we don't know about? Double hmmmmm.

Hi All. I'm on the side of those who think that the speaker-voice sounds like Rachel/Jamie. Albeit she is sounding more sophisticated or older than usual, but I'd cringe at -- I mean recognize -- that Valley Girl inflection anywhere. It's in the "arrrre". I don't think that she'll be in the show, but TPTB may still employ her in faceless background/behind-the-scenes material perhaps, like this.

But...if I'm wrong, I concede. :-)

Is there a new chat room for TLC? Are we still going to use the old one at all? A place where we can talk about the epi's as they're airing? Anyone, anyone?

Howdy,

I lurked at TLEC all summer. I think not knowing html is one of the reasons us lurkers keep lurking. So, thanks to admin for the lesson.

In the past week, I have been reading random pages on Lostpedia to remind me of all the little details and theories I forgot while I was wrapped up in the Experience.

BTW my husband faithfully watches the show, but wants nothing to do with any theories or the Experience. I think I drove him crazy all summer, and I'll keep doing it for the next 6 episodes too.

Well, that's enough of an intro for a Friday afternoon. Almost time to leave work. Have a good weekend.

maven said...

Hey, midnightstrider: Congrats on de-lurking! I for one keep looking at my watch!

Capcom said...

Scoutpost, it might be easier to make up one of those TV drinking games. :-) Now I'm not condoning that. I'm too old for them anymore.

I bet that you could get lots of ideas for Qs on the Lostpedia sight, from just looking at a number of the Lost themes and subjects profusely listed there.

CattyGirl,
Where in N.E. - P.A. are you. I live in New York but my family has a place just out side Milford, P.A. Around the Port Jervis area. Some friends and I were thinking of heading up there to have a viewing party of the Ep. 6 cliffhanger. Maybe there is a way we could get a viewing party arranged by then.

Maven,
When the game first started I was one of the oldest people playing or at least commenting as it were. And don't take this the wrong way, but thanks for making me feel young again. 34 years huh? You have been married 1 year longer than I have existed.

David,
Congrats man, the 1 year anniversary is a grand event in one's life. It must feel like you played the lottery, but knew the NUMBERS before hand... as well as the prize...lol
I guess this means we all owe you something made of paper , as that is the traditional 1 year anniversary gift... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... I guess you could print ou this list of comments/congrats and that could do, but that seems most lame.... lol

I have a TLE question, but I'd rather ask it here than on our almost retired TLEC blog.

Q- What do we know about Rachel's last name being Blake? I was wondering, is it her mother's last name? (if so, then so much for the Liddy Wales, et.al., theory) Is it a name that her mother made up to be RB's imaginary father's name? (then mom could still be Wales, etc.) Is it a name that RB made up?

Just wondering if we knew any of that. THX.

Capcom said...

P.S. And are we now supposed to call her Rachel Hanso?

BTW, If anyone needs a language lesson, here is a Russian Lost commercial, with Hurley, Jack and Kate actually speaking Russian! It's very interesting. (From the LostLinks website)

But I still wonder *where* she got the Blake from. Mom's side? Fake dad's side? Maybe I should just let TLE go now, and concentrate on the show. I have to keep telling myself that TLE is over.....it's over.....it's over.....

BTW, I agree with you (FYSB) that it does also sounds like Ms. H. over the speaker when she says Shephard.....it's got that slightest little valley girl growl or purr at the end of the name. Ah well, nighty-night all!

lets hope it at least gets nominated. those emmy idiots completely forgot lost this year.
but i will admit, heroes does provide pretty ample competiton.

Tess315 said...

Yesterday dedjezter posted (in part), that maybe they had Jack in the same room that Walt was in and maybe not in an underwater hatch.

I can go along with that idea, because everytime Shannon saw Walt in the jungle he was soaking wet.

sean said...

im not saying i like heroes more than lost. i dont think heroes is as good as lost. im just saying the critics are loving it, and its a big hit. those are all the factors that got lost the emmy for season 1. i still think lost deserves it more. (then again, ive only seen one episode of heroes, so i cant really make that judgement) but lost will always be supreme to anything.

maven said...

Well, I saw Heroes and I think it has a lot of potential. It seems to have a very mysterious back story as to why these particular people are getting certain powers...has to do with genetic research and a Patient Zero. This will never replace Lost in my book, but it seem interesting.

Sayid'sgirl: I have a feeling the place Jack is in could be an underwater hatch. Cuse and Lindehof alluded to what the true meaning of the heiroglyphics were on the Countdown clock as being "Underworld". Now that could relate to Hell or Hades, but also to a world under the sea.

It always hurts when something you love so much doesn't get recognized by the Emmys. In the eyes of the Emmy voters there's a lot of stiff competition out there. I don't know about it being rigged, but I'm hoping this upcoming S3 will really blow away everyone and Lost will get the tributes it deserves.

sean said...

the emmys this year were terrible. they didnt even honor stephen colbert. they gave his emmy to barry manilow.

do the voters even watch tv?

maven said...

Sean: I don't even know how Manilow can be in the same category at Stephen Colbert!

maven said...

Note: I'm not putting a spoiler alert on promos anymore. I think we've all seen them. The people from the UK and AUS might have an issue, but I don't have an answer for them right now. We can't put spoiler alerts on everything. Admin will have to advise us on this.

jgz: Well, we were shown a promo where Jack opened a hatch door and water poured in. Remember, Sayid's cable was coming out of the ocean.

maven said...

kdm: Well, it's pretty common knowledge that Epi 1 is going to be Jack-centric. So there's probably just a lot of Jack/Christian flashbacks.

maven said...

Same here, jgz350! The underwater hatch has been theorized since that cable was found by Sayid. Some people say it's a power cable that lead to an underwater generator that supplies the island with power. Anyways, I'll the first to admit if I'm wrong!

CattyGirl said...

I wish the premiere was 2 hours long... I know, I'm being greedy...

Becky said...

Oh, there is no inviting. Sunset on the Beach is open to the public. Actually, they have it mostly every week, showing G or PG movies. Google it. There were 10-12,000 people. You just take your chair to the beach and find a spot, which is HARDER than you think. We got there at 4:30 and it was already PACKED. They have food vendors from local restaurants there...I recommend the mini fried cinnamon donuts...YUM-O! The stars started showing up at 6pm or so. I don't really like tight packed crowds, so I just stayed by my chair and could see EVERYONE...Mr. Echo, Hurley, Jack, John, name someone, I saw them. My friend's husband braved the crowds with my camera and got a couple shots up close (mostly of Katie in her low cut dress...haha)

They started showing the episode just after 7pm. Don't worry, I will NOT tell a thing about the opening. That is just NOT fair. But, I can't wait to watch it again! The only thing that could have been better would be if my husband could have gone. He is in Iraq.

I am going to post a few pictures (though, blurry…my camera HATES the dark) on my blog. I just had to share this news with this group. I haven't commented a lot, but I was an avid lurker of TLE all summer.

i heard that the others are keeping kate, sawsyer and jack in different environments that were specially crafted to be torturous to them.

Wow! I find that very interesting. Why would they do that if they're the "good" guys? To push them to their limits for: emotional growth? breaking their spirit? their own psychological experiments? to test them and find out if they're "good" enough to join them? I really makes me even more excited for S3! What the heck is up with the Others and how might it fit in with all we learned this summer doing the Experience?

Hello Lost Community!
Remember the early days of TLE when we would research just about anything and everything? We'd post theories and information and research and discuss/debate/refine endlessly. Turns out, people have been researching the very thing we spent our summer on.

I just heard an interesting interview on NPR with a guy named Henry Jenkins who wrote a book called "Cultural Convergance". It was about the flow of content and information over multiple types of media. He also discussed a participatory culture where the collective intelligence of the community is needed to process and understand this content. Sound familiar? He referenced LOST (though not TLE) and they discussed how people could become really involved in the phenomenon and dedicate large amounts of time to learning more and more. Hmmm...really?

If you're interested in hearing his interview go here. It's worth a listen because there is a short interview with several of the writers of LOST.

To the Best of Our Knowledge with LOST interview

Anyway, since we have a few days before LOST premieres, I thought you might enjoy checking this out.

thinbluemime said...

n.i.k. I think the Lost writers think that's what we will think :)

But as we have seen during TLE, they love a good play on words.

I do not think we have even begun to see the true nature of the others. I think the theatrical makeup was used to keep from scaring the Losties.....to death :)

I betcha season 3 will be the best yet!!!!

FYSB said...

Hey, whoa, are we seriously going to spoiler that much here? I appreciate the warnings, but I'm wondering if instead of posting text from spoiler.com or wherever, we could just post links? Or even better, start a board to discuss spoilers?

This is totally a community board and if that's the way it's going, then that is absolutely fine and I'll make my decisions about participation accordingly. For me, I'm most interested in a board that reviews the current ep, discusses and analyzes within the context of what we know, which is what I thought this was.

Am I mis-understanding? Please, help me figure out what to expect on this board. Thanks everyone!

maven said...

Agreed, fysb and jgz350! If people want to link a spoiler, that's okay (I used one today myself. I read one, but did not talk about it)...but there are boards that just deal with spoilers. I know there's a lot of places out there that are talking about the premiere already shown in Hawaii. Talking about those things here would make it very difficult to avoid spoiler info.

The joy of discussing current issues is what makes this blog great. We should discuss LOST episodes as they air. If people want to discuss a spoiler, please don't do it here. Thanks.

Black Swan said...

I "triple agree" with not making this a spoilers blog. I was dancing thru the posts trying not to see anything.

Maven: Thanks! I think Pumpkin would be safe with Hurley. He's only 2 1/2 pounds!

maven said...

n.i.k.: I'm not against spoilers, either. But everything has it's place. Scrolling through one spoiler alert after another in this community makes it very difficult. We used to do alerts at TLEC out of courtesy for the UK and AUS viewers that had not seen all of S2 yet. But this is not the place to discuss things about future episodes that none of us have seen. If one wants to read a spoiler, they are free to do so (like I said, I couldn't control myself today and read one). Linking to where the spoiler is would be okay, and maybe a small comment that doesn't reveal anything. But commenting on any specifics here (even with spoiler alerts), I think, would hinder the purpose of this community.

(Where are admins. when you need them! LOL)

maven said...

n.i.k.: Sorry if I came across like I was disagreeing with you! It was nothing personal! :(

I was just trying to make my point strongly...which is your point, too! For example, after I saw a spoiler today (on another site I think you linked), I came back and said: "Couldn't help myself and read some of the spoilers (not all versions)! Wow...they really make you want to see this episode! I don't think a synopsis could do it justice. Totally a 180! (not 108 LOL)"

It's the scrolling through spoiler alerts that post actual information of future episodes that hinders the free flow of discussion in this community.

Chris Procter said...

Hi Guys,

Back from a busy weekend and just caught up with all the posts. A big hi to all the new faces.

I agree that links to spoilers are fine and minor spoilers with spoiler warnings are OK but otherwise we should avoid too many spoilers. I agree with Maven that this blog has to be based on US not UK or AUS schedules otherwise everything is going to be a spoiler!

I'm not going to say much on the recent spoilers other than they are useful for me as It'll be 24 to 48 hours before I can watch Lost after the US airing and therefore spoilers/ transcripts allow me to join in the discussions.

So any ideas when S3 does come out in the UK?

Chris Procter said...

Hi Inenglandandlost,

I imagine it will be at least 6 months until we see S3 in the UK. I guess it depends on when ABC are willing to sell it and how it fits in with Channel 4's Schedule.

I must admit although I saw season 1 on Channel 4 got the first 6 episodes of season 2 off Ebay and then downloaded the rest as they aired so I didn't really watch them Whilst they were on Channel 4.

APRIL!?!???!!

Chris Procter said...

Hi JGZ350,

Weather here is WET, really wet, but that's no bad thing. Down here in the south-east we had a drought all summer and we've just had the hottest September on record, so we really need the rain.

I think we are going to see a bit of a change in Locke this season and it's been hinted he'll be more back to the season 1 Locke, it will be good to finally find out how he lost the use of his legs (and see how wide of the mark my prediction on the podcast was). As soon as I get up on Thursday morning I'll be trying to download it (I get up about 3 or 4 hours after the US airing) so it'll be interesting to see how quick I can get to see it.

Have to say though the start of Season 3 looks to be even better than the Desmond scene at the start of Season 2.

CattyGirl said...

Hello all - I was really into spoilers last season and that may happen again this season. I'm going to try and hold off for the first couple at least. Not too long to wait now... ;)

Dark Angel - I agree, I think this premiere will be better than last season's.

Hi InEnglandandLost

April 07 is what I read which would be about consitent for the Season 1 /2 gap.

Best bet - download µTorrent (and get a copy of Peer Guardian II). Go to either the µTorrent search page or Mininova.org and search for the torrent for Lost Season 3. Bingo - A nice High Def copy of Lost, no adverts and no six month wait.

Chris Procter said...

Hi Cattygirl,

I'd like to say I'll avoid spoilers but as I check spoilerfix.com at least twice a day that's unlikely. My wife things I'm mad looking at spoilers but I find if I know what to look for I enjoy Lost even more. I guess it'a a bit like reading your favourite book over and over again .

Chris Procter said...

Supposedly TPTB had a good idea where the leaks were comming from and therefore used some carefully crafted foilers to catch them out. I do think that TPTB will now post foilers to the boards so everything has to be taken with a Very large pinch of salt.

I do think however that the transcripts from the Preimier in Hawaii are probably pretty accurate.

maven said...

Morning (for me!):

Dark angel and jgz350: I, too, heard that TPTB are trying to foil spoilers throughout the season. But with the premiere being shown to a zillion people on a beach in Hawaii...what do they expect? If they didn't want any leaks, why show it like that 4 days before the premiere on TV?

Thrasher: We'll miss you until Wednesday!

maven said...

Hey, jgz350: Thanks for those links. I did hear that the producers feel very close to the people in Hawaii and do this premiere as an homage to their support. Apparently, not everyone is keeping quiet! LOL

Ok I know you all are wondering what I did (yeah right)- did I peek at the spoilers or not.... well I did read about the first 5 minutes of the premiere. That seems to have satisfied my curiosity and yet maintains a level of surprise for Wed. night. This is going to be the slowest 2 days of the year!

nathan sage

Sorry my son wanted to type in his name. I think Season 3 is going to be really great. Just bought TV guide for this week- has Sawyer on the front. Story mainly about Josh H. but has some brief season 3 spoilers (nothing major). Won't go into detail unless someone asks specifically- but I will say that apparently Henry Ian Cusiak (Desmond) had to be in a g-string for a scene....hmmmmm.

That article was indeed intriguing (knowing what I know from the spoiler). Didn't Desmond mention snow globes once? (I think he said something like: "We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.") And wasn't there a password about a snowman: "What did one snowman say to another".
