Tonight, the Locke monster's camp merges with Jack's, and alliances are forged (and broken). Evident by the motley crew in the photo above.
L.A. segments focus on Jack. Break out the tissues, it's time for some Jears!

Snap SG!
Hi All Ready for the new episode.
Whoo hooo. The first (?) multicentric eppy since LA X
Well you guys beat me to the first post. I open the new comments window trying not to see the post. Because I don't want to know the title. lol
Getting ready. Can't wait!
I can't type and watch too well-but will give it a try-laptop in the living room and ready.
No your not.
Oh yes I am and I was comment #8... BONUS!
I don't get what's going on though
Looks like my first instinct may have been right about Sun. She may have swithched time lines.
And they're all heading to the hospital.
If you let him talk to you,it's already too late.
email...:)
xxoo
Very chilling- Sun is afraid of John.
JT, I watch with my laptop, I just usually wait til commercials to type..LOL!
Major answer- Christian is Smokey- but all the time?
Hello everyone! Off to an interesting start! Loved the Sun and Locke race to the OR. Is this now the decision that Jack must face? (ex. Shannon v. her dad?)
And Claire freaks me out!
JT
You can type during commercials. That's what I usually do. Unless it's something really cool then I type something short like Wow!
If you let him talk to you,it's already too late
It all fits in my fan appreciation ideas of this season of Lost..
sooooo, just like us. Once you started watching Lost, it got it's hooks into you and it was too late to ever go back. LOL!
(Sawyer's lookin' good tonight)
ROFL.. "It'd never work, sweetheart.. I'm a cop, you're a killer"
haha hey everyone.
Gotta love Locke.. he doesn't even flinch
Well, here we go...
What if that bomb would've got Des in the well? !!!
Hi Black Swan. Hurley has faith in Sayid that's all I need. :) lol
I'm with Hurley- its never too late to bring someone back from the Dark Side (and I've never seen the Star Wars stuff.... yes, it's true...)
Sundown; Part Deux.
Poor Des- reduced to a "something"
Yep, SG.. LOL!
To make it more dramatic tho, you've gotta come back from the dark side on your death bed, right?
Another deadline at sundown-they love to do things in 2's.
Blk S
That's cause he's MIB not Locke. :)
wooo i cant wait for them to save Des..
Kate also insists she's not a killer... perhaps Sawyer will be the one to vindicate her... while he's on the hunt for Sayid....didn't see reunion in the precinct behind bars coming...
Blk S
Yeah probably. I keep hoping he'll survive and come back to the light. But I know it's just wishful thinking.
It's too confusing... I know it's MIB, but it's still Locke, dammit! Why can't he be merging, too?
Lisa, I definitely think you're right about Sawyer vindicating Kate.
SG, I'm hoping right along with you.
OH my gosh! Ilana!
What??? They've been looking for her?
Crazy.... stufffff
Jack's Mom is looking for Claire
From the will...
That Smokey is a bad Mutha...
Shut your mouth.
Well, that blows my theory that Christian was only MIB when he wasn't in his burial outfit.
And for bringing people back from the dark side, I have faith that Sayid can be redeemed. Even Ben was brought back. Whether it sticks or not remains to be seen.
JT good catch. I forgot about the will. My memory is old. lol
Ohhhhhh, yeah! Looking for Claire from Christian's will.. good one JT
TAV, you quack me up!
So if Desmond suevived that fall then he is super Desmond... so nowits
Super Desmond Vs. Zombie Sayid... hmmmmm????? I vote Desmond
Maybe we're finally going to see the other side of that outrigger/shooting future flash?
Wasn't tht well deeper when Locke threw Desmond into it? You couldn't see the bottom before.
Not only could you not see the bottom but Desmond fell further than that... lol
Can that gun survive being in the sea water like that?
Raised by another.
KATE, TELL CLAIRE ABOUT HER MOTHER.
I really hope Sayid didnt kill Des.
Yeah, the well was deeper..
I'm wondering what really happened with Sayid and Des there..
me too Kat... me too.
Why doesn't Claire realize that the only reason everyone left her behind on the island was because MIB lured her away from the group and took Aaron away from her?
I'm yelling with you, TAV! She should have told her that when they first met up!
Lapidus from a Burt Reynold's movie- that was lol.
I noticed Sayid said that Flocke/MIB saved his life.. interesting
Yeah, that was a good one, too, JT
These Island men look nice all clean and shaven.. LOL!
Whoa- Aaron and David- MIB & Jacob?
Jacks going to fix Locke? or not... lol
I always think of Jimmy Buffet when I see Frank. Except he's bettier looking. ;)
The kid who plays David is great. This is a wonderful episode. :)
JT I thought that once when we first met David. But now I'm not so sure.
Hi all!
Jack jumping off boat, like Sawyer jumping from helicopter.
Nothing's irreversible.
That was interesting.. reminded me of Sawyer jumping out of the heli
Jack is just like Locke used to be. (on Island)
Yeah, Jack's gonna fix Locke. I keep waiting for someone else to get hurt in the sideways so they all meet up at the hospital
Next Sawyer will be yelling,"We have to go back!"
Hi Ginger
I thought the same thing.
Pretty sure Sayid didn't kill Des-
I was wrong. I thought she'd lose the baby.
Dural sac! Alot of cross over this season.
YYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
omg, jin and sun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Teh Sun/Jin reunion! Finally!
She's speaking english.
She's speaking English again.
Jin makes promises that are hard to keep..
I can't believe Sawyer believed Widmore was trustworthy.. he must be slipping
Damn it!
No! It over?
Woah, that went too fast. Interesting that we're so close to the end, we're no longer getting previews for the next episode.
Fourteen days and counting...
Finally.
Damn that episode went FAST! What happens if they blow up Flocke? He can't be killed right? He just would just find a new body to replicate right? I don't get this. What is Widmore's plan? This is driving me crazy!
Maybe Widmore is trying to kill the candidates if they have to leave with Flocke-mmm that wouldn't be good for Sawyer & co.
I know it's stupid, but I was so scared that Sun and Jin would get zapped by the pylons. :-o
This was a strange ep, I don't know what to think. Except...too many commercials.
Where does David fit into the scheme of all of this I wonder?
Not stupid capcom I thought the same thing. I even yelled No. Then remember Zoe said turn off the fence. ;)
Wids brought scientists to the Island (Zoe = Geologist) to locate and probably harness another EM anomaly and somehow use that against Flocke/Smokey. Wids needs Des to that, and I think at this point is just trying to force Flocke's hand about what he did with Des.
Good to see Elizabeth again.
Widmore and his people make me very nervous.
We'll we have two weeks to figure this one out.
Well, I'm going to watch that again. I still can't believe Sawyer was dumb enough to fall for Widmore's hand-shake deal. And all that didn't matter anyway, because MIB went over and talked with Widmore already, so he could have gotten him then... whatthe?
That should have been -- Wids needs Des to DO that...
OK- I'm wondering if the f/side is fixable. Before I thought it would be the outcome of what they achieved in the island times- but maybe there is ongoing work to do and it will change according to what happens in both times. And it looks like Des is the one doing the fixing.
LOL, SG, I was worried that they'd run through the pylons before Wid's peeps got a chance to turn it off. :-B
OK, I'm stupid again, who's the last recruit?
I'm leaving early tonight Loco's.
It was good to get a few more answers. Good night everyone.
Black Swan;Wait for it...wait for it...
Good question Capcom- Jack? Locke says- you're with me now at the end.
I thought Des was the one doing the fixing by making them remember each other so they'd all merge back to the Island. I don't think the sideways is the way it's supposed to be. I could have it all backwards.. but i never thought the Jack's-great-idea-lets-blow-up-Jughead would ever work correctly anyway. My idea is by remembering each other in the sideways, it makes it possible to merge back to their real selves on the island.. They aren't right on the Island now either.
So, did anybody get a deja vu feeling when Jack got blown up on the beach and Flocke takes his arm and says he's with him now? Reminded me of Claire blowing up in that house and she ends up with Christian (MIB) in Jacob's cabin (and she's been with him ever since)
I'd guess Jack.
Night TAV.
G'nite, TAV.. ok, ok... You know I have no patience.. LOL!
Oh no BS- you think Jack's been claimed? I didn't think he died- but oh no!
Capcom, David only fits into all this so TPTB can have their big reveal on who his mom is and make for more 'fan appreciation' IMO...
BS, I totally agree with that. I think David's a big part of the endgame.
I'm just sayin' it's a lot the same.. I don't know if I'd call it claimed.. whatever that's supposed to mean anyway.. and not that it would last. Already we see Claire and Sayid being more normal with real emotions here.
LOL, Blacky. :-)
OK, I can see Jack being the newbie for the dark side. Yes, it was like Claire's blow up, but hopefully not, and hopefully Flocke is being presumptuous in thinking that Jack's with him now. Cheez-whiz, if Jack died in that blast I'm calling shenanigans!
It's looking more and more like this show's going to need a feature film epilogue (at least as far as I'm concerned). :-(
Interesting that Hurley just let everything play out-he let Jack & Sawyer make all the decisions.
I don't think Jack's dead. But he probably is the last recruit.
What "Last Recruit'? What did I miss?
Yes, he was probably Flocke's cherry on the top of his collection of souls.
The ep's title.
oh for...the Episode title. That's what I get for deliberately not reading the title! lol
And yeah, that was my thought, The Last Recruit, what did I miss? :-)
Amused2bhere
It's the title.
At this point Capcom, I'm thinking this whole season is a feature film epilogue for the really great ending of Season 5.. LOL! So, I'm thinking Jack will have his 'wake-up' remembering the Island thing when he saves Locke.. Locke will have his 'wake-up' remembering thing when he can walk again. (and that will be interesting to see how they handle that one and wouldn't it be cool to see him truly resurrected?) BUT, what good are all these remembering moments that take a strong feeling like love or being saved/saving someone from dying? Or being told your baby is ok? What do we all do then? We say, thank God, feel closer to being believers.. and I just happen to think that's why all of a sudden Sun can speak English again and she's merging back to herself now.. that mirror is thin and they are just on the other side, with the sideways stories pushing them through. Now, this wouldn't have been such a bad idea if it wasn't that there is so little time here to get to the real stuff. I guess it's going to end with us all talking forever about what their real future will be and this they will make for themselves, being more enlightened ppl, more able to see from different perspectives, more believers than they used to be. Just my silly ideas coming out here and a tiny rant about this season. LOL!
I forgot to mention I really liked tonight's mirror reflection cameo. Usually it's just someone looking at their own reflection, tonight we get Jack looking at Locke.
Amused
I didn't get it at first either. Then looked at the post. :)
AL, you mean Jack looking at FLocke?
I mean Jack looking at whomever it was on the operating table.
oh, thanks AL.
I really, really hope TO'Q gets the recognition he deserves. To me, he has really carried this season. It's hard to believe that we just "met" Mr. Flocke last season.
It almost made me think you meant it meaphorically.. Jack looking at Flocke on the Island when they're having their crazy conversation, since Jack is so much now like Locke used to be. (so sure he's doing the right thing, driven by destiny)
Good point Amy!
Nice ideas Blacky. And I guess that we'll never really know for sure things like, what the quarantine was for, what the vaccine was for, blah, blah, blah. I almost feel like I'm watching a completely different show from the one I watched in S1-S3 1/2. Hopefully it will all come together for me eventually.
Also, not that I blame the writers for this, because they had a whole lot going on, but I miss team Miles/Ben/Richard. Can we have their story during the hiatus week?
I love TOQ and he's doing a great job, but I don't like that this season is so much of a one-man show, taking away from other character's time on the screen. That's not his fault though. It just seems like they're cramming too much in with this last season. I wish they could have had at least one more year of Lost.
It seems to me that Locke was right all along, they were brought there for a reason, they have a destiny.
Perhaps Locke will be rewarded with a new life, after all.
It's weird, because I'd agree with disliking the emphasis on Flocke this season, but what it's given us is
- Ben's redemption
- a chance for formidable Des to be the hero
- a chance for Jack to become likable to the audience.
etc.
I was warming up to Jack until he jumped off the boat and left everyone.
I disagree with you Amy,
what it's given us is Darlton's view of continued 'fan appreciation' by thinking:
-they need to bring every one who's ever been on the show for an encore
-they really don't have to answer all the questions that the show (and the ARGs) have brought up, because it's their show and their perrogative (they've said this in interviews), so we get lame whispers explanations just to try to shut us up
-to spoon-feed the deeper layers of the show's emphasis and character 'flaws'/enlightenment that many of us had figured out a long time ago, so I guess it's for the casual viewer.
No offense, but I'm not yet convinced of Ben's 'redemption', I didn't really want or need Desmond to be the hero of Lost, and I frankly enjoyed disliking Jack.
BS, I agree with you that this season has been VERY heavy handed, if that's what you're saying. The LOST audience that was smart enough to understand what was going on during the time travelling flashes doesn't need a line like, "Looks like someone got her voice back."
Blk S
I agree. Alot of this season seems to be about "shutting up" the fans so to speak.
I'd rather not get an answer than to get a lame one. Or an obvious one.
I don't think the casual fan even cares about answers.
Yep, Amy, that's the kind of thing I'm talking about. And Capcom is talking about some of the things that we've been wondering and theorizing about for a long time. There are so many brilliant Lost fans out there with amazing science blogs, etc out there (Capcom included), some amazing blogs referencing the religious and ancient philosophies, and I don't think we should discount the character arc lovers and even shippers out there who just aren't going to get what they've been waiting so long for.
I think Darlton was really nervous about this season (and for good reason) knowing that they wouldn't have time to make everyone happy, and of course that would have been a big job for them to do, considering there are so many fans with varying ideas on what's important, who they want to see a hero, etc. They pretty much took the defensive in some articles I read and it came across really weak to me to say things like, it's our show and we'll do what we want, the answers are only important if they are important to what's happening to the characters right now.. stuff like that.
I'm left with just wondering, what was the rush to get that end-date. Was it that Lost would have been canceled and they made a deal with ABC? Was it because they wanted to go down in history being the first to have an end-date? Was it that the cast/crew was sick of being in Hawaii and wanted out? I really don't know. I just feel like this year seems rushed. It's almost over!!
@BS, the end date was decided after the first third of season 3. It's actually painfully obvious which episodes were written without the "big picture" in mind, and which were written once the endgame had been loosely established.
SG, the truly casual fan, like my hubby, doesn't even have a clue what the questions are.. ROFL!! (don't tell him I said that,, hahaha.. but he admits it's true anyway)
Ah, thanks Amy. Yes, I do remember that now. They lost so many viewers that year because they split up the season so much, right? But season 4 was the one with the writer's strike I think.. hmmm
I thought last season was rushed.
@BS, yes, the writer's strike was 2007-8 (S4)
Yeah season 3 had I think 6 episodes then a long hiatus. I think maybe ABC might have been threatening to cancel is why season 3 was so choppy. I think the rating fell in season 2. Then TPTB got an end date and went on strike the next season. lol
Really, SG? I didn't really get that feeling last year so much, other than not putting any time at all into the rise of Suliet.. not even one flashback to build up that 'love story', which obviously still worked out for them since there are still so many Sulieter's out there. I remember still not trusting her until the were in the 70's though.. LOL!
You know, I respect that they wanted an end-date for Lost. I just think it should have been next year. LOL!
Thanks for the info, capcom and AL..
I guess I should just shut up and enjoy that Lost didn't get canceled. But, you know me.. I do love the whine (even built up a whole ARG rebellion based on that whine) ROFL!! We might have to get the Swan rebel unit out again soon.. it's bad enough being Han's pigeons, being Darlton's chickens would be just too much for me to take!! The swansong should be bittersweet, not just bitter (like my patience) LOL!
Last year seemed like it dragged a little to me. The first few episodes didn't seem to tell us anything new. But it picked up. And it flows better on dvd.
lol I'm always up for another Black Swan rebellion. :)
And I love your Whine.
Casual LOST fan - isn't that an oxymoron?
SG, that seems to be true of every season to me..LOL!
That would be fun, reforming the rebellion. What a hoot that was! I'm nervous about doing it again this year.. I'm rewatching right now and find the Jack/Flocke dialogue in particular to be a veiled threat against us.. ROFL!
Did Flocke say he was Christain that time as in may not ever time we've seen them?
I think it's safe to say that everytime we saw someone who was dead, it was Smokey. At least ON the Island.
Roll call!
Christian
Yemi
Ana Lucia
Ben's mom
Richard's wife
Charlie? (off island)
Eko? (off island)
Why no Libby?
no Shannon?
Just finished watching and trying to enjoy Glee now.
Trying to follow your discussion about how rushed and "condescending" this season may seem to the hard-core fans. I have some very casual viewer friends, and they are finding it boring. They are unaware of so many layers that most of us have peeled away. Personally, I'm pretty drained from the years of trying to figure this thing out. I do cherish the many insights I've managed to pick up over the years and how they relate to the finale showdown. I'm just tired of over thinking and am enjoying final episodes.
Also, hubby cannot stop complaining how many commercials there are! LOL
Hey, Maven.. I've got Glee on the dvr and haven't watched yet.. lol, your hubby is right about so many commercials. I think this is the first time you haven't reported some notes after an episode.. wow! Lost really is leaving us.
That's a good list, amused. Interesting about Libby and Shannon. They probably just couldn't get the actors to do it where it might have fit.
Lostit, are you calling my hubby names? ROFL! No, Black Swan Intelligence is an oxymoron. (but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. hahaha)
Good morning LoCos. I enjoyed reading your thoughts especially about the season in general. The fact that I didn't bother to come and post about the show last night pretty much sums up where I'm at. I had to watch the show a little late, we were at a church event, and while I enjoyed the episode as I watched it, it left me pretty ho hum. I watched Glee afterwards (except for the end thanks to American Idol) and by then I'd pretty much forgotten most of what happened on LOST. To me the pacing of the entire season has been off -- slow, slow, slow, then bang, bang, bang and if you want subtlety in writing, well, then this is the wrong season for you.
I'm glad we got to see the Elizabeth again and the fact that no one said, "hey, that's Desmond's boat" or Sun writing "look there's that Other's blood from where I shot her" made it that much better. I wish they would handle all the questions that way instead of the ham-fisted way they handled the whispers. Even Jorge and Sidekick 22 made fun of it from the script alone.
As for the overall story, I don't have a clue what's going on. So it seems Desmond hit Locke with intent to kill if it was only the wheelchair that saved him. But I don't know what that means. Why does Des think that taking Claire to Ilana will trigger her flash? They never met each other on Island. And Claire and Jack didn't seem to cross-over as a result of their brief meeting either. Sun recognized Locke, but then they were sitting next to each other on the plane.
Nor do I know what's going on on the Island. I think Jack's instinct to do the opposite of what MIB wants isn't a bad one, but he didn't even try to talk anyone else into it. Has he accepted his candidacy as the new Jacob? What the heck is Widmore up to with those bombs? Seems like he's still intent on killing everyone on the Island. Why does he want Desmond back? And where is Desmond? I assume Sayid didn't kill him. And where is Sayid? Just wandering the jungle?
Yet despite all those questions, I don't think it's going to keep me up for the next 2 weeks. The end game is still too murky for me to be rooting one way or the other.
If Sawyer knew they could get on the Elizabeth, why didn't he just try to leave on the damn sailboat, rather than heading to Hydra to the plane and sub?
Happy Birthday Ellen!
Happy Birthday, Ellen!
Good morning Mempshish
I have no idea what’s going on with the story either. But I like that way. I was so afraid we’d know what was going on after 3 or 4 episodes after what Darlton said over the hiatus and that would have been really boring.
I’m still not sure if Desmond was trying to kill Locke or give him a traumatic event so he would remember. Or he’s just trying to get him to Jack.
I think Sun recognized MIB not Locke. She seemed frightened of him.
I don’t think Jack’s sure of what he believes or thinks at this point. Do you think he’s the last recruit? And if so what does that mean?
I think Widmore is intent on killing MIB and anyone following him. He didn’t fire his rockets until Sawyer and his group were on Hydra island.
I assume Widmore needs Desmond to change something with the electromagnetic energy. Last we seen Sayid he was on his way back with MIB, after MIB went looking for him.
LOST will always keep us awake, whether we want it to or not. ;)
Amy Lynn
Sawyer said they needed a bearing. I'm assuming the bearing is preprogramed in to the navagation system of the sub or the bearing is written down somewhere on the sub.
@SG, thanks, that's what I thought, but hasn't Frank flown that bearing several times? I find it hard to believe he wouldn't remember something like that.
SG - I don't mind too much not having a clue, but it makes me much less emotionally involved with the story. Am I supposed to root for the sideways world or the real one or something else? For Widmore or Smokey or Jacob or who?
I think at this point if they rip David from Jack's life I may have a lasting legacy of hating the show. As much as I haven't liked the sideways world, the idea of taking away a potentially good relationship between David and Jack to leave us with mopey Island protector Jack could well be a deal breaker for me.
Also wanted to add I don't get the title either. I guess the last recruit is Jack cause he's the last one with MIB. It's kind of up there with Eggtown as a title though.
Yeah, I don't know what the big debate about the Last Recruit is. It's Jack.
I've watched LOST since day one- but I haven't been online with it till this last year- so I guess I'm not as worn out with following it as I imagine discussing it for six years would make me. (Though the DCAAPB stuff was tiring-as lots of you know!) So guess I won't be as annoyed as some if things don't come out as stunning as we might hope. I'll go along, and will note if it doesn't make sense- but maybe in the end it will just be MEL's world that never was supposed to anyway.
@JT, I'm in a similar (sail)boat. I started watching LOST with S5, so I haven't been waiting very long on my theories.
And yeah, the ARG stuff was tiring. Especially the 5am Walt's Kidnapping reveal.
i suspect that sayid flashed to the sideways when he was sent to kill flocke. That is why he has been his puppet ever since. I think that widmore bomb hitting jack will trigger the sideways to bleed over. He will see he has david in the sideways and do what flocke want him to do. I seems to me desmond did a reverse today he tried to make sideways sayid bleed over to 2007 instead of what he has been doing in the sideways. Reminding sayid that nadia wouldn't like sayid's means to bring her back. Kate did a similiar thing with claire, seemingly reminding her of her humanity.
I think flcoke already knew sayid was no longer his puppet, he could smell it on him so to speak.
To go back to TAV's shout out to Kate to tell Claire about Grandma watching Aaron- maybe Kate wasn't sure that Claire would be happy with it, maybe she doesn't know what the relationship between Claire and her mother is like. Kate's relationship with her own mother is so bad, and that is her prime example.
I did find it strange that Claire had enough sense to note the MIB was "pretending" to be her father, but didn't see that that pretending lost her Aaron.
I feel like there's a ton of inconsistency about MIB = Christian. Now of course MIB may be lying to Jack, and I hope he is. I still like to think there's a different between suited Christian and casual Christian. The whole my father and my friend thing from Claire but now she says they've always been the same is extremely irritating.
Amy Lynn
It's been 3 years since Frank had a bearing and the island has moved several times since then. The bearing is different. Also I forgot that Sawyer said he was going to stick a gun in someone's face and have them take them off the island.
memephish
I know the title was like ok, so what.
JT
I could never get tired of discussing or theorizing about Lost. I also don't expect to be annoyed or disappointed because I don't have any expectations on what the story is or how it will end. And I certainly don't expect it to be anything I theorize.
It's has become a little obvious from time to time in the last 2 seasons though. But I guess they're trying to help the casual viewers out. :)
why would mib appear as christain to vincent in the missing pieces, it's not like vincent was gonna tell jack he saw his father. Unless christain was the only form he could take at that point. I wonder if christian telling jack not to be a hro relates to hero jack joining forces with flocke?
@2costa, that stuff isn't canon.
Happy Birthday, Ellen!
im pretty sure the missing pieces are canon, they were not part of an arg.
i think illana had to die on the island to cross over earlier in the sideways
Missing Pieces is definitely not canon.
courtesy of lostpedia:
Lost: Missing Pieces is a series of 13 mobisodes/webisodes which were released weekly on Verizon mobile phones and six days later on ABC.com between November 6, 2007 and February 4, 2008. Running between 1:22–3:27 in length, each mobisode fills in a narrative gap somewhere in the timeline from the first three seasons.
Featuring new content that is incorporated into the existing storyline of Lost, the mobisodes are considered a canonical extension of the series. Some stock footage and a deleted scene were also used. In total, Lost: Missing Pieces provided over half an hour of entertainment. Lost: The Official Magazine has featured a "making of" article for each webisode.
@2costa, yes, I know what Lostpedia says, I'm just saying I don't consider it canon. The average viewer has no idea what it is.
the arg's were not written by cuse/lindorph, where as the missing pieces were. they are more canon then your average deleted scene!
i dont care what the average veiwer thinks, we can agree to disagree. Cuse/Lindorph have said they were canon so i will defer to them.
@2costa, if you're going to insist on silly things, you might want to get Lindelof's name right.
What do you all think of Zack and Emma being Adam and Eve?
I don't want to argue about canon, but I think MIB was lying to Jack about being suited Christian. If Jack thinks MIB masquerading as Christian helped them by leading them to water, he's more likely to follow Flocke now. I still want to think that suited Christian wasn't MIB but casual Christian was.
i agree about two christians. I think at this point tptb are no longer catering to the casual fans of lost.
attacking my spelling is really an ad hominum argument. I'm sure that most people here agree that the mobisodes:missing pieces are and were canon. I don't consider the dan/chang film canon. The original orchid film from comicon is also canon. When locke was watching the orchid orientation, part of the comicon film was part of that film
Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have stated on record that the following are canonical. The first four were cited in an interview with Entertainment Weekly [1], the fifth from a previous interview [2], and the sixth from a producer commentary on the Season 3 DVD entitled Access: Granted and an interview with Gadi Pollack [3].
* Lost episodes (noted by Lindelof as "the only true canon")
* Lost: Missing Pieces
* The Orchid Orientation film
* The Christiane I's search for the Black Rock from Find 815
* Information about the Hanso Foundation and the Valenzetti Equation revealed in The Lost Experience

Carlton Cuse goes into greater detail about the issue of Lost canon in the March 10, 2008 Podcast. Ancillary materials such as deleted scenes, the majority of the storytelling in the ARGs, and other sources of information are considered apocryphal to varying degrees of semi-canon, and depend solely on how involved the executive staff are in the development of each.
@2costa, you can quote whatever Lostpedia you want. I still don't agree with you.
What is a Cusedorph?
lostpedia isn't canon, but i'd say the EW article with cusedorph is reliable. You don't have to believe the earth is round, you would be wrong, but i'm all for free will.
I believe in free will, just not ignorance.
damonton, lindecuse, darlton, or the braintrust behind lost
Okay, I'm done fighting about moronic things. Thanks for the entertainment.
i'm neither silly nor ignorant. i don't expect anyone to back me up publicly, to avoid conflict. I'm pretty sure there will be no comments besides yours, that will say "the missing pieces" are not canon and that I'm wrong that one thing.
wrong about that one thing
So what's official and what's not? What's ''canon?''
CUSE: The mobisodes are in canon. The Orchid video is in canon. The videogame is not in canon. It's unfair for the audience to go to ancillary sources in order to really understand the show. Even the things like the mobisodes, which are in canon, aren't essential to your understanding of the show. These things are just added bonuses.

LMAO @ 2costa. Keep obsessing, hon.
i'm pretty sure that smokey couldnt have appeared as christain to jack in the hospital when he was an 06.
i dont think the missing piece with vincent is important to figuring out the show, but it is canon.
i dont think christain could have appeared to mike on the freighter if he was MIB. mib cant cross water or astrally project
In the end, it doesn't matter that much what's canon and what isn't. 99% of our questions are going to go unanswered. Damon and Carlton have said over and over and over this season that only questions that matter to our characters are going to be answered.
hello all,
happy birthday Ellen.
Liked seeing all the gang together again last night.
when i saw david this time i thought of the kid that is stalking MIB.
Flocke must have a big ace up his sleeve, cause at this point he is looking rather unprepared for the assualt that widmore is launching at him.
i still dont like Zoe but she was rather strong walking into the smokeys camp like that. but i am surprised that no one seemed to pick up on when she says we want "him" back.
why didnt he just ask for jin back since they took someone first.
if mib really needs the body of the person to be on the island to assume that form, then he couldn't have been ben's mom, isabelle, or ghost micheal.
i do wonder who ghost mike is working for though.
i like the idea that sayid has been aware of the sideways like desmond for a while since smokey made his deal with sayid, sayid needed his neardeath experience at the temple to cross over to the sideways in the same way sideways locke needed to get hit by desmond. I think jack is definitely gonna become aware of his son now because of the explosion coupled with mib's touch.
i liked how locke on the table was a deja vu moment for jack, from his surgery on ben's tumor.
I am starting to think that people in both realities were setting up these deja vu events so that the two timelines would bleed over. For instance Christain made sure jack would lose his appendix as a child to remind him of the other timeline one day.
jacob needed sayid to live and join mib, because he knew sayid was really good, but that his history doomed him to be on team smokey. Sayid seeming to betray mib, put's Jacob's plan into clearer focus. Jacob made sure that mib would reanimate sayid. Last night showed us that just because smokey brings you back to life, doesn't mean you lose your free will. I think that when ben was healed as a child it was definitely the clear water and jacob that revived him, yet ben was still able to betray jacob and kill him.
i also liked the revalation that flocke didn't take sun's ability to speak. The island did because she was on the wrong path, much as locke didnt get his voice back until he did what the island wanted after his sweat lodge. I also think this strongly implys that when locke lost the use of his legs, it was the island and not smokey that was doing that and locke was once an agent of the island.
it also makes me think that if you went on the wrong path in island time you might have bled over physically from the sideways. When locke in the early seasons was straying form his path, he started to lose his leg's again, because he was never healed by jacob in the sideways. The more he strayed, the more he made the sideways become the final reality. Just as Sun was bleeding over to island time with her non-english speaking self from the sideways because he wrong actions on the island were going to make the sideways the only reality to be left standing.
Happy Birthday Ellen!!
I think that I'm pretty much in the same category with you Memphish. Putting aside all my analytical viewing, last night, and most of this season, hasn't left me feeling much of anything about the show. Sort of, meh. I'm not expecting to be disappointed, I'm really trying to stay hopeful that it will all mean something to me when all is done.
Interesting info SG about what TPTB have said about the end. Here's my take on that...I really like mystery stories and enjoy the process of how the mysteries are solved within the story. I don't need all the items wrapped up neatly, but it is nice to get some payoff for what I've invested in following the story. I would put the original Sherlock Holmes stories (and movies) in that category that I enjoy where all kinds of crazy random things happen which are run through the story mill and then come out mostly solved in the end to give the reader some gratification in the solving process. Dare I say that this is the kind of story that Lost began as? TPTB set us up with scads of little details that we were led to believe were important and meaningful, that we should keep an eye on. But now all that doesn't seem to matter and it's kind of leaving me limp mentally. Like I said, it seems almost like a different show to me now. So, getting back to the point of this paragraph, if TPTB are annoyed that we still care about all the things that they lured us into caring about early on....well, it's not our fault.
Amy, if you had been able to watch/participate in TLE (the first and best ARG) you would have enjoyed that. It wasn't about selling ABC junk worldwide, it was for the most part a really good connect-the-dots mystery that we could follow online and solve ourselves. Until at the end where it lost momentum, got kind of boring, didn't solve the mysteries, and fizzled out...ruh-roh. Deja vu?
You're not ignorant 2costa, your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
I haven't been invested in anything other than a good story.
There honestly isn't any "old mystery" that I need to be answered.
I'm pretty much happy with what I've been given. The only "answer" that I wasn't completely happy with was Danielle's story. But she really wasn't that important as a character. This is a case where no answer would have been better than a lame one. All we got was a visual representation of what she told Sayid.
I'm cool with the story so far. The only thing about this season that I disliked was the FS but like with the FF which I thought I'd hate and didn't. I've warmed up to the FS too.
my pet peeve is i wanna know why locke had to kill his dad to prove his commitment to the others?
2Costa, I think that was just something Ben made up to preserve his own power in the group.
Yeah, that was pretty disgusting IMHO. Richard seemed to be in on it too, since he gave Locke the dossier on James...for that loophole.
I agree SG, but the thing is, the story that I was invested in doesn't seem to be the story that I'm seeing now. Oh well, it's just me. I hope that it all works out. And if not, to my liking, it's just a TV show. And I made some pretty great friends along the way. :-)
Capcom- if you're talking about DCAAPB- I don't think the posters they produced for it are "junk"- and it was a lot of fun, even if it wasn't the same kind of mystery as TLE. I wish I had signed on for that- but as I recall our internet connection at the time was molasses-so it wasn't very doable back then.
About Des in the f/side- may be important that he gave Hurley and Claire ideas and urging to do something- but left it up to them. He didn't give John any choice. Come to think of it , Charlie said to Des that he could get out of the car or... so he sort of gave him a choice too before taking the dive.
That, and the look on Des' face- makes me think he wasn't trying to "connect" John.
Happy Birthday Ellen.
Lost has always been full of mystery for me.Like in life, there are questions, that may never be answered. It is also a make believe world. Lost is frustrating at times, but it is still my favorite TV show.
Even if the ending of Lost,turns out to be our worst fan nightmare;
the friends we have grown to love here, are real.
Although we sometimes disagree, like MIB,and Jacob;we have all come to TLC, because we were brought here by the Island
Rewatch rewatch!
Ok- the well- when we first saw it it was nighttime- so could only see as far down as the torch would light. Sayid went to it in the daytime-could see further down if the sun was hitting it right.
Noticed Claire says to Jack right in the beginning that he is one of Locke's people now- because he let Locke talk to him.
