Everybody Loves Hugo - Season 6, Episode 11

And who wouldn't - I mean, look at him! Don't you just want to give him a hug?

Tonight, Hurley agonizes over what to do next, and the Locke monster is curious about the new arrival to his camp. Meanwhile, Ilana leads a mission to Hydra Island.

We're working with Hurley here - let's play count the dead guest stars!

And what's our buddy Desmond up to, I wonder?

It's almost time to get your Lost on.

OH MY GOD!!

Melissa_Lossa said...

Oh, you're right - two!

Three with Libby!

Amy Lynn said...

As much as I enjoyed that um, fire, what a waste of a character arc.

TheOtherLisa said...

Yeah... the TNT scene.... wow.
Is des tied b/c it was necessary, or it a rouse....?

Ginger said...

Saw that coming a mile away the way she was swinging that bag of dynamite around! Now they have some Ilana on them. She obviously didn't train w/explosives.

I didn't like Ilana's flash-upward.
Great to see Libby. She knows what is real.

Black Swan said...

LOL, TAV... flash-upward! So what about the whispers right before Michael showed up, too?

Black Swan said...

anybody catch what book that was?

Tess315 said...

Didn't catch the bok title, anyone?
Hurley found the black and white stones?

Tess315 said...

Bumping? hehe

Black Swan said...

Wow, this ep is explosive! What'd I miss, SG.. where did he find the stones?

Ellen said...

email...:)
xxoo

Amy Lynn said...

We tried to read the book title... hubby says it's a mirror image. I'll have to try it again later.

I think this episode should have been called BOOM.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Ironic that Michael got Hurley to protect everyone by blowing up a boat.

Ginger said...

SG - I thought those were Jacob's ashes.

TheOtherLisa said...

What was the book? and what was in the blue pouch?

Black Swan said...

LOL, Amy Lynn. OK, I can just see me with a hand mirror at my tv screen :)

Tess315 said...

Blackie
Just a guess. I thought they might be in the draw string bag. Probably wrong.

TheOtherLisa said...

Are we SURE Michael is dead? (He'd make #4) We were certain Jin was on that boat....???

Black Swan said...

good one, ML!

and great catch, Ginger! I think you're right~ Jacob's ashes!

Tess315 said...

ginger
Maybe. I thought the ash pouch was bigger.

lol melissa

Tess315 said...

At the end of Dave Libby was staring at Hurley like she know him or liked him.

Tess315 said...

LOL Hugo

Tess315 said...

That boy is aging quick.

Tess315 said...

It's not Jacob. It's the boy. I think.

Tess315 said...

oops I need to stop posting.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Is it just me, or did that kid look like young Charles Widmore? Like the 1950s version?

Amy Lynn said...

And, just like that, they've separated out the Candidates.

Tess315 said...

Maybe Melissa.

Black Swan said...

It looked like another ragamuffin pirate kid.. I'd say MIB younger and the blond one that Flocke and Sawyer saw was Jacob younger..

reminds me of Hook, lol

Ginger said...

I love take charge Hurley even more than regular Hurley. But does he really know what he is doing? And I love that Jack is so ready to listen to him.

Tess315 said...

FS Desmond has found one 815 and has them on the path to finding love. Who's next?

TakesaVillage said...

Sayid'sGirl; That postaholic.

Tess315 said...

Ginger
I know I keep feeling Hurley is being manipulated.

Black Swan said...

Hurley's coming across more crazy now (on Island) than before, IMO.. LOL! It's funny to me that Jack is just listening to him and not putting out any ideas of his own.. he's got faith in Hurley.

Amy Lynn said...

Poor Yunjin, relegated to WRITING all her lines.

Black Swan said...

whispers! Michael and those dead who are stuck on the Island.. they can't 'move on' where's Chucklez?

Amy Lynn said...

OMG AN ANSWER. FAINTS DEAD FROM SHOCK

Black Swan said...

Are the sideways helping those who are dead to move on?!

Black Swan said...

or those who died on the Island are helping our Losties remember and thus helping for them to converge?

Tess315 said...

Alright Des! That was sweet.

Black Swan said...

Desmond is like this angel making sure it all happens..LOL!

Amy Lynn said...

Awesome! I am loving this "Des as puppetmaster" storyline!

Beverly said...

BS, I was just about to say that! LOL! Kinda like Jacob?

TheOtherLisa said...

don't love the purgatory idea of can't move on- keeping faith that there's more....

Tess315 said...

But Penny's not dead.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Yeah, Swan - I was thinking when Libby first showed up tonight that it was interesting that so far, with the exception of special Des, all of the people who have "remembered" are people who died on the island.

Tess315 said...

Blackie
Yes to bad Chucklez isn't here he'd love this.

Black Swan said...

Desmond making sure he doesn't screw up like the last time he 'flashed' from turning the failsafe key, huh?

Tess315 said...

Blk S
That's sound right. He did say in FBYE he wanted to go back and he'd do it right this time.

Tess315 said...

No don't turn the wheel Des.

Black Swan said...

Yes,yes, yes!! the well!! I've been waiting for this!!

TheOtherLisa said...

Saw that well dive coming....

Black Swan said...

Charles Widmore only looking for power.. I can believe that!

OMG!!!!!!! I didn't see that coming!!

Ginger said...

I have no internet at home now so I haven't been able to read comments all week. Just throwing this thought out, may have already been discussed during the week...Desmond didn't care who he went with last week, Widmore or Sayid, because he knows in either reality he will be with Penny. And now he is going to be paying visits to all the 815 folks to push them in the right direction.

Beverly said...

NOO!!!! DESMOND!!!!!

Tess315 said...

Whoa!!

Beverly said...

OMG! I did not see that one coming! The war is bleeding into the sideways!

Tess315 said...

For those who watch the promo. What the heck was that!

Black Swan said...

I'm thinking Des really is an angel.. dead in the sideways.. well, that proves it.. OMG, what an episode!! Locke looked just like he did after Cooper threw him out the window. Wow, that was a great promo!!

Melissa_Lossa said...

What's up with the creepy Willy Wonka promo?!

TheOtherLisa said...

ok...did NOT see Des running over Locke coming... wow...straight to Jack Shepard, paging Dr. Jack Shepard....

Ginger said...

OK I saw the well thing coming but I didn't see the running over Locke thing coming! WOW!

Amy Lynn said...

1) That was awesome.
2) That was awesome.
3) That was awesome.

Um, yeah, Willy Wonka?

Capcom said...
This comment has been removed by the author.
TheOtherLisa said...

Black Swan= you are right, he looked exactly the same as when he got tossed out the window... weird, b/c we still don't know if he did or not, or how the originial back injury happened!

Capcom said...

Oops, you're right it was Wonka, into the psychedelic tunnel.

TheOtherLisa said...

So, forget the wedding convergence... it'll all be in the hospital?

Black Swan said...

The sideways aren't real.. or are they? I bet Jack ends up with Locke as his 'miracle' surgery and not Sarah (his ex-wife)

Now we know what the whispers are!! YAY!

Black Swan said...

TOL, definitely in the hospital.. was talking to somebody about that.. LOL!

Tess315 said...

Yeah I never could see why they'd all be at Locke's wedding.

Black Swan said...

Jack had a big epiphany in this episode.. he finally stopped his fixing obsession and wouldn't you know, right after you stop trying is when you just DO. Just like after you finally stop looking is when you FIND.. LOL!

TakesaVillage said...

Maybe Locke needs to be fixed in the sideways. This episode was not for the faint of heart.
And yeah, that was the Mother of all promos.

Ginger said...

So can Des see everything at the same time? I really think he is conscious of all time & can see what has to happen. Maybe he is course correction now. What a crazy episode. Loved it.

I have to do my taxes now. Tomorrow I have to call to get internet because I am going to go crazy if I can't read everyone's thoughts this week.

memphish said...

Totally enjoyable watching experience.

Not sure what to make of the whispers answer exactly. So who is stuck on the Island? Michael. Boone (cause his voice is heard in a whisper), but Ana Lucia and Charlie and Eko aren't stuck cause they appeared to Hurley in the real world? When Hurley first asked Michael about Locke I wanted him to see dead Locke, but no, it's just Flocke.

The return of the woods boy. Gotta be MIB's brother who I think is a young Jacob. It's weird that others can see him though including non-candidate Desmond.

Flocke throwing Desmond down the well felt like Ben shooting Locke in S3. We know the Island's not done with him.

I don't get why X-Desmond ran over Locke, especially after Hurley's success without a near death experience. That was extreme.

I'm still not sure which world to be rooting for either. It still seems to me that overall X world is better than original timeline. I think destroying X world will really tick me off, so I hope it doesn't turn out to be that black and white. A final thought on X world - if it was Jack and son, Sawyer and Miles, Widmore and Des with a little Eloise, and Hurley and Libby, and even Jin and Sayid I'd dig it. The only sideways person who seems to have learned nothing is Kate and possibly Claire.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Great stuff. Des definitely seems to be bridging both realities with ease.

He didn't hesitate to name his son Charlie. Wonder what his motivation was for Locke? It can't just be remembering going down that well.

Amy Lynn said...

Oh, I totally didn't catch that he didn't hesitate on Charlie's name. Great stuff.

Next week is the last episode before the brief hiatus!

memphish said...

I love Hurley's mother. I think she is my favorite flash-any-direction character.

Black Swan said...

Good question ML.. it could go two ways (or maybe more)

Tess315 said...

Maybe it's because he needs to stop/kill MIB in both time lines and that means Locke.

Amy Lynn said...

If there's no Locke's body, Smokey never has a harbor?

memphish said...

That's an interesting thought that because he's aware of both timelines and Flocke just threw him down a well then hitting him with a car is fair game.

memphish said...

The only thing about that is that the Island is underwater in the Sideways world. I don't yet know how to place Jacob or MIB in that world.

Capcom said...

Man, I have to get up early to go out of town tomorrow, I am really gonna miss you guys until tomorrow night! Don't figure anything out without me! J/K, please do, haha. Can't wait to get back to read all your comments and FB posts on this great ep.

R.I.P. Ilana. :-(

BTW, so does that mean that the island IS something besides an island? Probably just means it's a prison, not a spaceship. :-B

Black Swan said...

Desmond and Flocke are BOTH in the KNOW right now, BOTH not scared. I think they BOTH know what to do to help the Losties finally get off that rock and they are BOTH doing things to move the merging along .. and the x world and original timeline aren't going to matter, because it's just how our survivors will make their own futures now that they've had this experience and have achieved their 'enlightenment'.. LOL, just my 2cents

Kevin said...

He just forced Locke to remember. Like Charlie did with him. I mean he is already paralyzed...it cant get much worse.

Black Swan said...

I don't think either Des (off island) or Flock (on island) are destroying anything that they don't know will either help those who are really still alive, or like in Desmond's case, when he ran over Locke, he knew it would move things to the way they are 'supposed to be'

Black Swan said...

108, just had to

TakesaVillage said...

Good night Capcom,good night all.

Tess315 said...

CONCRETE
That's a possiblity. But what is he suppose to remember, Jacob?

Capcom said...

P.S. I just posted the Wonka boatride scene on FB. It's funny, at the end of the ride the kid says, "Now why don't they show that kind of stuff on TV."

Tess315 said...

Night TAV

Capcom said...

G'nite TAV and everyone, have fun analyzing!

Kevin said...

or maybe, locke has to be in the hospital to help someone else remember. We will see

Black Swan said...

G'nite, TAV! You're right, this ep wasn't for the faint of heart. :)

I like your thinking concrete, LOL, and your name!

Tess315 said...

Blk S
Do you think MIB is good?

Tess315 said...

night capcom

Black Swan said...

G'nite, Capcom!

So, I'm thinking Locke and Jack are each other's constants.. LOL! OR it sure seems more than coincidental that Jack's Island epiphany is happening at the same time as when he'll get Locke in the ER, maybe.. idk

Was there any mirror reflections in this episode? There were lots of mirrored happenings, but I mean real reflections.

And i never thought about it, but Des going down that well was a fast-forward version of Juliet going down the swan hatch hole..

CONCRETE, lots of ppl would think dead is worse than paralyzed.

memphish said...

Dead is definitely worse when you have that bitchin' substitute teacher job and a wedding date with Helen.

memphish said...

I definitely want to parse the whispers now. Remember back in one of the worst episodes ever, The Other Women, when we are subjected to Harper Stanhope and her mole? Were the whispers that accompanied her arrival and disappearance indicating that she was dead, yet Juliet and Jack could see and talk to her, or was dead Goodwin warning Juliet or something?

And how about when Ana Lucia shoots Shannon? I think those are the whispers you can hear Boone in. But the weird thing is the whispers happen to the Tailie party, not to Shannon and Sayid. Why would Boone et al freak everybody out leading to Shannon's shooting?

And what about Sawyer's boar with shrimp guy's whispers? I think that was just Sawyer's guilty conscience heightened by Island weirdness.

If anyone finds a good breakdown of the whispers after this episode, let me know. The number of websites and podcasts I frequent has been greatly reduced.

Tess315 said...

We heard whispers in the tunnels on the way to the temple. Were the people at the temple dead? Or some of them anyway.

Beverly said...

Michael said he was trapped on the island because of what he did. Since the island seems to be a prison for evil (embodied by MIB), I'm thinking that people who did evil things are the ones who are trapped there when they die. The people Hurley saw off-island aren't trapped there because they were innocent. They hadn't done anything on the island that would cause them to get stuck there.

Beverly said...

If Desmond was pushing the Losties in the FS towards love (which we originally thought because of the scenes with Charlie and him finding Penny, and him talking to Hurley), then what he did to Locke doesn't make sense. Locke already had love with Helen.

I'm getting more and more afraid that when FS Jack "remembers", he's going to say "We have to go BACK!"

except "back" doesn't really apply either, does it? The FS is in 2004 and the island is in 2007. So they're "remembering" things that haven't happened yet.

Black Swan said...

SG, I actually like the idea of Des turning the wheel! And to answer your question, I don't really think of Jacob and MIB as good and evil, really. I think they are both liars and manipulators, but I trust MIB more at this point. I think Flocke has the right idea to get off the Island and I think some of the real Locke is merging with Flocke. I don't believe that the Island is a cork holding all the evils of the world in. I guess I don't believe that the contents of the bottle are evil and hellish. Now that we've seen the other kid there, who I think is MIB, it almost makes me think the 'game' is between wanting to accept that growing up is better than just staying a kid all your life as opposed to the immature (IMO) attitude that growing up means your heart will die and real life ends because of all the pain and suffering getting older seems to bring. But, only with anguish can you know joy. Kids don't understand that. They only look at the 'bad' side (gee, I'm never going to have a baby! It hurts and then your life is over and all you do is have to work work work. LOL!) I remember being a kid and thinking those kinds of things. It's a more black and white world when you're young and abstract thinking hasn't really developed yet and you have no experience, you just see what you see and it looks no good at the time. I don't think it's a coincidence that the blond and dark-haired boys look to be right at the age of puberty when they have to face this 'growing up' thing. And I don't think it's a coincidence that now that Jacob is 'dead' our remaining Lostie candidates are starting to merge with the unreal sideways world and I think it shows enlightenment. I even have hope for the ghosts like Michael now, because although killing Ana Lucia and accidentally also killing Libby, his situation wasn't all black and white either. He was desperate to save his son. Good people do bad things and who knows what we are capable of unless confronted with the same things? We have to think and look deeper and not judge lest we be judged, right? Forgiving sets you free and the hardest thing to do is to forgive yourself.

Lostit, what about Eko? Hurley used to play chess with him. And he did some evil things in his past, on Island and off Island, but like Michael, there were extenuating circumstances. BUT in the end Eko knew that his life went the way it did because he wanted a better life for his brother. And he made peace with God by building a church and asking for forgiveness (ironically with Benry). LOL, even the ghosts on the Island can't leave until they've felt peace with themselves.

Black Swan said...

Sorry.. that was kinda long. But, yeah, I have a little more..

Lostit, I don't think 'love' always has to be the romantic kind, necessarily here. There's also the love of oneself (and as they say, you can't truly love someone else unless you love yourself first) and there's the love you can have for your fellow 'man', "Brotha" LOL! (I think you know what I mean?)

Tess315 said...

I don't believe MIB wants to leave on the plane with all the Losties and former others. He may want to leave but he wants to go alone. I don't know I guess we'll see.

Beverly said...

What bad things did Eko do on the island? Jacob said that whatever you did before you got there didn't matter. I thought he had pretty much redeemed himself on the island. Did I forget something?

Beverly said...

SG, I don't trust Flocke either. He doesn't want to take anyone with him when he leaves. He wants to make sure there is no candidate left alive to take Jcaob's place.

Black Swan said...

Lostit, Eko killed some of the Others when they came to get the tailies. He felt really bad about that, sensed that the ones he killed were related to "Henry Gale" (Ben) who of course we know now was the leader of the Others. When our Losties had Benry locked up in the Swan Hatch, Eko wanted to see him and I remember thinking.. oh, oh.. that Henry guy is going to have even more problems now, but then we get surprised by Eko cutting off his little braid at his beard and handing it to Henry saying he was sorry for killing his men.

Black Swan said...

I don't trust Flocke either. Like I said, both Jacob and MIB are manipulators and until we really know what the Island IS, and who they really ARE, I'm on team Sawyer right now, watching and taking notes on Smokey, but not trusting him or Widmore either.

maven said...

Another awesome episode, and everyone has a great take on what might be happening. Definitely saw the Des down the well thing, but did not see the Des running Locke down. Was he trying to destroy the body that eventually became Flocke?

So what Des had to "show" everyone from 815 was their true love?

So there are more than one well (then the one we saw with the FDW)? Every well is where the EM concentration is on the island. And the "ancients" knew it.

The merging of the FS and island time is speeding up. It seems connecting with your love triggers the memories...the kiss, the touch. Did not see that with Locke and Helen though.

Nunu! LOL

Finally a solid answer! Michael is now part of the Whispers. I immediately thought of Chucklez, too! LOL

bigdog said...

morning all,

what a way to go for Iliana. i actually laughed cause i should have saw that coming.

ben as a sweater vest wearing teacher is funny to see everytime.

i thought of eko when flocke pushed des down the well. flocke does not like people not to be afraid of him. and so far only eko, des, and sometimes sawyer have had no fear of smokey. he cant control them with fear if they have none.

michael saying sorry to libby, would that imply that libby is not part of the whispers and is just dead?

Tess315 said...

Just realize FS Locke woke up or came back like he did when Cooper pushed him out the window. It was like he was gone dead then came back.

I think he seen the other time line. I think he may have seen it when he woke up when Cooper pushed him out the window. I'm not sure but the look in his eyes was the same.

Amused2bHere said...

Good morning fellow LoCos!

Heard from me during Lost last night:

"If she doesn't stop shoving stuff into that satchel like that, Ilana is going to Arzt herself."
"I bet if Libby kissed Hurley, he'd remember."
"Hurley's going to blow up the Black Rock. End all the dynamite shopping trips once and for all."
"Uh oh. How long before Flocke tries to shove Des down the well? Des, watch your back."
"Suuurre, Flocke promises to do no harm, but Zombie Sayid never made such a vow. I bet Flocke promised to be cool because he has Zayid to do his nasty bit for him."
"OMG, you think Des is gonna mow Locke down?"
"Holy moley. It's over already?"

My husband is so patient with me. Sometimes I wonder how he can stand to watch Lost with me in the room.

Amy Lynn said...

Anyone have any new theories regarding the random island boy?

2costa said...

illanna did die suddenly

does desmond really know the truth about flocke?

is he trying to kill locke in the sideways or just send him to the hospital

desmond made his intentions clear to not stay in the sideways, he showed he chose the island timeline. Otherwise i doubt he would risk being a fugative in the sideways by hitting locke.

i wonder if whoever hit emily locke with a car when she was pregnant did it for the same reasoning as desmond in the sideways hitting locke?

is locke smokey in the sideways?

if dead people are bleeding through easier in the sideways why hasn't locke bled through?

did ben and widmore kill so many people in island time, so that there were more people in the sideways that bled through faster? more malcontents with the sideways reality?

is desmond already doing the new jacob thing?

did mib throw desmond in the donkey wheel well or a differnt well?how many wells are there?

did ben destroy the orchid so that desmond would be the only one capable of going down there without dieing?

curious that ben and richard teamed back up and ditched the 815'ers.

in happily ever after zoe said the test on desmond was a day early, was eloise hawking mad that desmond was also looking for penny a day early in the sideways?

did eloise say the stuff about the 815'ers all needing to be on the ajira plane, to bolster smokey's claim later that they all need to be on the ajira plane on hydra island? he obviously trying to get all the candidates in one place to kill them or have sayid kill them. sawyer and miles were not on ajira so there is some splainin' to do.

jack is gonna be the hardest nut to crack in the sideways, because he has a kid and it's hard to see him giving that up.

seems like the sideways is really smokey's reality that he paid his disciples.

libby's shrink seems like he's in on the whole island thing..

jack having his appendix on the island seems to show the sideways definitely came after island time.

when eloise met desmond in the sideways she was saying its a travesty she hasn't met him yet, then said"it's about time", i think that was more meaningful than i thought at first.

is smokey stuck in locke's form tied to the rules so that hurley know's the ghost's he sees are real and not smokey.

richard said jacob never tells anyone what to do, but he has told hurley exactly what to do before?

2costa said...

the island boy is young jacob, he has been time jumping since he was a lad. Ben only killed the oldest version of jacob. I think smokey has to sink the island to ensure young jacob doesn't foil his plan. He must be real why else would sawyer and desmond see him.

if locke saw desmond was becoming more jacoblike, did he throw him in the donkey wheel so that he has to turn the wheel and thus be sent to tunesia?

did widmore need zoe because he doesn't know where the donkey wheel us?

2costa said...

did smokey throw desmond in the donkey wheel relate to the island being sunken in 2004. Does he want to move the island in time and then sink it?

2costa said...

Is a sunken island sent back in time is what really created the sideways? is the sideways like eloise the rat coming from a false future created by faraday's intention. Meaning the sideways is a creation of smokey's intention to sink the island, it's not static yet because the variables(people) are still affecting things from island time?

locke has no reason to choose the island timeline over the sideways, is desmond just trying to kill hium because of that? does desmond know locke will be ok?

2costa said...

it does seem as though desmond know's locke is not locke, but who knows. I dont know that island desmond even knew that locke died.

i think that ben and richard are no longer candidates because they know too much about the island and jacob and really no longer have free will in the big picture, where as they have left desmond and jack in the dark so their choices are pure free will?

2costa said...

possible young jacob seemed really pleased with what desomnd was doing

Amy Lynn said...

I don't think last night's boy was Jacob.

2costa said...

i think is funny and ironic that at least for some soul's of dead people the island is purgatory.

2costa said...

well it was the same boy that told flocke he couldn't kill sawyer. i guess we will find out who he is soon enough

2costa said...

it was crazy how the picture hugo did on the chalk board of the island in santa rosa when walt visited him was on the chaulk board in the sideways when he visited libby

Tess315 said...

Hi amused2bhere
"Suuurre, Flocke promises to do no harm, but Zombie Sayid never made such a vow.

I was thinking the same thing especially when he gave that little look over at Sayid.

maven said...

I don't think that well that Locke threw Desmond down was the FDW one. For one thing it did have water in it (definition of a well!). And Locke did mention that there are many of these on the island since the original inhabitants were searching for the EM pockets. And these might come into play since Widmore is looking for them and Jin seems to know about them from the map they have from Dharma days. Could the catastrophic EM event Widmore might be planning involve harnessing all these wells and sinking the island?

bigdog said...

2costa - in happily ever after zoe said the test on desmond was a day early, was eloise hawking mad that desmond was also looking for penny a day early in the sideways?

nice catch.

amused - your like babe ruth calling the shot. did you like the episode when you can see it before it happens? i have to say i didnt see any of it coming. not watching the preview i really have no idea until i start the tivo and see the title whats going to happen.

maven said...

FYI: I submitted my Lost quilt to the Lost Fan Art Wall!

2costa said...

i think it's really interesting that miles went with ben and richard. The only wierd thing is that sawyer is the only one in hugo's and flocke's groups that wasn't involved in the oceanic 6 thing, remember frank was the oceanic 7th. I think it's tied to the fact that sawyer intended on leaving with them ,but the chopper was low on gas.

i think it's interesting that flocke called the island "this God forsaken rock"

i think desmond's line to hugo" so nice to bump into you", was like jacob saying jack's candy bar needed a little push. Desmond certainly seems like the jacob of the sideways. It also reminds me off pool, the balls take a different path when bumped.

curious that jack was lamenting over juliette dieing, he doesn't know that she could live again in the sideways yet or that he has a son. two good reason jack would pick flocke and the sideways.

the building where they did the em experiments on desmond was right next to where they kept walt on hydra island, where the all the dead birds where by his door in the missing pieces clip.

funny how nobody cares that mike killed analucia

is ana lucia on the same police force as sawyer/miles

flocke"how do you know what they blasted you with", desmond"experience", i took this two ways, that he experienced the same thing in the failsafe chamber and flocke knows this and i took it as desmond was wink wink, aknowledging he saw the sideways.

Anyone know if Gene Wilder is a special guest next week? :)

I found it interesting that Desmond survived that fall into the well (from the trailer); apparently the Island is saving him for something special. I still think it's going to come to a showdown between Hurley and Flocke.

Amy Lynn said...

I read this on another board and liked it:

I am thinking that maybe people in the sideways world can't be killed and Desmond knows it. Therefore it would make sense that Desmond would hit Locke with the car knowing he would only be injuring him enough to cause a near death experience to jog his memory, but not causing his death.

Tess315 said...

I don't think the FS is a mystical place where people can't die. I think he knows what he needs to do to get the people to remember the other time line/ universe.

What if Sideways Sun's saying, in English no less, I'm pregnant was her glimpse of the original timeline?

Amy Lynn said...

@memphish, but she wasn't pregnant at that point in the original storyline.

memphish said...

They aren't flashing on that exact moment in time opposite them AL. They are seeing bits and pieces of all their experiences on Island and beyond in Desmond's case.

Amy Lynn said...

@memphish, I'm not quite sure that's true, but we know for sure what day Jin and Sun are on - September 23, 2004. She wasn't pregnant then.

2costa said...

seems like there is a 3 year gap between island timeline and sideways. just like locke lost 3 years when he turned the donkey wheel

memphish said...

I'm not saying that she's saying she's pregnant in X world cause she was in original world. I'm trying to say that in her shock of being shot, a near death experience, her timelines are blending and her English declaration of her pregnancy is a confused statement of that.

The flashes don't equal what was happening in the original timeline on that day. Little Charlie wasn't even conceived in Sept 2004, but that's part of what Desmond flashed on. Same with Not Penny's Boat. Same with Hurley and Libby on the cliff. The fact that Sun is not pregnant in Sept 2004 doesn't mean she won't flash on that memory.

Amy Lynn said...

@memphish, oh, okay, I see what you're saying. Interesting.

Capcom- good point, re: Richard said Jacob told him what the island was... so it IS something, that's kind of hopeful --- only I hope it's not purgatory...wonder if he gave Richard the cork and bottle example he gave MIB and I wonder if that convo happened soon after MIB told him it was hell1.

So, Lostit, et all... sooo one theory is that all the evil that's ever come to the island is collected there? Sort of a way to remove evil from the world and return only good? What was Boone stuck there for? I'd be interested also in a list of people we're sure we heard in the whispers...

Black Swan... I like your twist on that. Those in the whispers are holding themselves captive by their inability to accept forgiveness and good....

2c- I like your pairing up the Emily locke car accident with Des running Locke over... very interesting to wonder if the same person/reason are involved (or does this relate at all to Claire and mum's accident too?)

I don't think Locke is smokey in the sideways, b/c that means he's loose... but, guess it could be a 'verse where he's escaped and is the end of all that is good....

your observation about the test being a day early and ellie saying des is not ready... is also interesting with Ellie saying he's not ready ( can you explain yoru Jack appendix thing ?)

Maven- good for you, that quilt is great!

AL- desmond as memory jogger... that's what charlie showed him to do, eh? kinda makes sense of what he had to show them...

Memphish- I'm with you, Sun could be at least 'remembering' the pregnancy(ies?)...at different times...

2costa said...

richard was looking for the cork and bottle as the answer ro what the island is.

2costa said...

i just meant someone was trying to avert flocke from ever being by killing locke in utero. i think it's looking likely that flocke is loose in the sideways, but i also can buy the desmond just want's locke to see the otherside too. Like i said before if desmond was gonna stay in the sideways he wouldnt have hit locke with his car.

For anyone who listens to Jay and Jack, I think the Crackpot theory of the week is actually going to come true! Don't want to spoil it, since it gives away the centric for next week, but I definitely think that is where the writers are heading.

Was Desomnod's license plate a shout-out to a fan? It was "2FAN321".

Just Thinking said...

Hi all-I've just enjoyed rewatch-I didn't guess Des was going to run over John either- which means I have no idea what the heck is going on I would say!

About Sun- I think she was going to tell Jin she was pregnant before Keamy interrupted them at the hotel- I remember getting that impression.

Had to watch the promo after hearing it included Gene Wilder & Willy Wonka- as I really like the actor and the movie.

Thought that maybe they used it because Wonka is a bit of a deceiver and showman, who takes his "candidates" through the factory to determine who is worthy to succeed him. I love the part where he limps down to the factory gate and then does a somersault- he really can walk just fine. I think that Darlton are a bit Wonkaish.

Not only was I npot paying enough attention to what Ilana was doing to know that she was gonna get blown up, but I actually jumped when it happened.

Just Thinking said...

Oh- and did we get the title to Hurley's book? Looked like it was in maybe Russian? And did the bag clink just a little? That would mean not ash.

Just Thinking said...

I just watched Jo on AOL's Instant Dharma- and she thinks the book is Russian also- and that that means it is Ilana's and so the bag is the ash.

Don't know if the ash is still working though- they had surrounded the temple with ash, but once Dogen was dead it did not keep Smokey out.

maven said...

JT: Here's what Lostpedia has on the book: "Notes from Underground (Записки из подполья): After Ilana's death, Hurley picks up a Russian-language copy of this 1864 existentalistic novel by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It deals with the conditions of existence of the individual person and their emotions, actions and responsibilities. (Literature)"

As usual, I'm a day late and a dollar short. . .my thoughts for what they're worth:

That was the best episode I've seen all season!!!

Well, except for the part where I started liking Des about 3 minutes before Locke pushed him in a well. (I should have known he was doomed the minute I thought - hey, that's pretty cool the way Des subtly pushed Hurley toward Libby).

But he's supposedly indestructible so I'm going to assume he'll make it.

That was even better than Recon!

Plus, they are all rapidly moving in the direction of the hospital - so Yay! Desmond. . .I mean, in the. . .I love it when a plan comes together sort of way - not in the running over helpless paraplegic sort of way.

2costa said...

i was thinking that widmore and hawkings had planned on having the sideways shit hit the fan at locke's wedding, but when widmore moved up the EM test up a day on the island. it forced desmond to make the hospital the new place they will all meet.

i was also thinking that desmond from 2007 didn't flash to the sideways as an alt dimension, he just raveled in time like when he turned the failsafe key, the catch is the 2004 that the islanders came from no longer exists and only the sideways remains there. The only way to change that is to do some time travel on the island in 2007 to avert whatever really caused the sideways.

2costa said...

i also think that if that kid is young jacob, his glee over desmond being on the island seems to show that desmond is who jacob was trying to help find the island

2costa said...

i also think desmond is already acting a lot like the sideway's jacob

Amy Lynn said...

I'm still really confused why they dyed the kid's hair.

2costa said...

maybe originally jacob took over the job with some weird alt reality that he had to systematically change like desmond is doing. Even though richard gave jacob the idea of intervening, jacob was already manipulating people to come to the island long before richard

2costa said...

i think it's because he was supposed to be older incarnation of jacob than the one who said he couldn't kill sawyer, who was like 3 years younger. If im right there are many different ages of jacob that could be time jumping around the island at one time or another, ben just killed the oldest version.

Amy Lynn said...

@2costa, could be... interesting how his hair got darker though, and adult Jacob is a blonde.

Just Thinking said...

Thank you Maven- the first time I looked at LP was to find out about a Lost book- so full circle.

maven said...

The "mysterious boy" is played by the same actor each time we've seen him (according to Lostpedia). By being blond and darker hair (like Jacob and MIB), could it mean that Jacob and MIB are two sides of the same person/entity?

Earlier I mentioned the license plate number on Desmond's car. It seemed like they made sure they ygot a good shot of it and usually they do just teh opposite.

Well the number I mentioned before was from the last scene where Desmond hit Locke. In the scene where he was watching Hurley and Libby on the beach, the number was different - 4PCI264.

It just seems like it's some kind of Easter Egg or shout-out to somebody. I dunno - it just struck me as odd that the shot was so focused on the plate of the car more than once and both times, the number was different.

I wonder if they showed the plate number in Happily Ever After. Anyone remember?

Beverly said...

Desmond has defnitely been acting different - unlike himself - in both the island and the FS.

Zort70 said...

Now that's the LOST we love :-) Exploding people (and boats), crazy people, dead people talking, Locke being badly injured.

It wasn't a case of if, it was a case of when for Ilana, my fantasy league scores are going to suffer badly.

Is there another donkey wheel on the island ? Are there many wheels and do all of them have to be turned together to sink the island ?

If the Desmond well has a wheel does it take the person to somewhere else in the world ?

Are we going on another time travel merry go round ?

Coming up all these questions, or maybe none of them, will be answered.

memphish said...

LostIt, here's Desmond's car before Charlie drives it into the water. License plate on front is 2SBI653. I couldn't find a rear plate view.

Here's Desmond leaving the beach. 4PCI264.

Here and here is the car at the school with 2FAN321.

I would think that the cars in HEA and ELH are different cars though the same make and model only cause who'd want to drive a wet one. Then like Kate, Desmond changed his before committing a hit and run.

2costa said...

if ghosts are remaining EM energy from a person, perhaps the island is trapping the soul of dead people on the island in a scientific way instead of a redemption way. Perhaps the same thing that frees mike from the island frees smokey, shutting down the EM energy of the island.

2costa said...

I don't think anyone pointed out that perhaps illanna dieing is a good thing for everyone. First, she would have never let hugo lead the candidates over to talk to flocke. It seems like they need to join him before they can beat him. Secondly, she was out of answers alive and was only guessing. Her ghost may be much more useful to hurley than she was alive, because ghosts on the island seemed to gain more knowledge when they died, and ghosts seem to be able to directly influence the candidates without breaking thee rules.

Zort70 said...

2costa, all valid points, but from a story point of view what was her purpose ?

To get Sayid back to the island is the only thing I can think of.

2costa said...

illanna's purposes

1.to keep sun, hurley, and jack away from flocke long enough, so that hurley and jack could restore richard's faith in jacob. Also so that jin and sun were not united until the right time(i.e. he would have reunited them already if he got sun at the temple, while he had jin).

2. to burn down jacob's cabin

3. to present locke's body to richard, so he could warn the temple that the mib was free and jacob was dead. Which in turn bought time for jack to see and destroy the lighthouse and bring back richard from the brink, Also so hurley could tell ricardo about isabelle. It also bought time to heal sayid

4. to redeem ben linus,"i'll have you", rather than ben joining smokey.

5. to save miles from joining smokey or getting killed at the temple

6. to bring sayid to the island

7. to tell them they are candidates, since richard and ben didn't seem to know
im sure there's more really important things she did

Amy Lynn said...

@2costa, yeah, but all of those things could have been done by placeholder redshirts.

2costa said...

how is a redshirt gonna know about temple tunnels and ash circles?i disagree...

Amy Lynn said...

Dogen was a redshirt who knew about the tunnels.

Either those license plates (thanks for the screen caps, Memphish) are just bad continuity errors, or there's some meaning behind them. I would like to think the FAN one is a "hi" to fans, but probably just a fluke (not a floke)!

Amy Lynn said...

I read (I think on TWoP) that the FAN one is a license plate used on a number of shows as an in joke.

So, if the whispers are what is left behind when a killer dies and they get stuck on the island.

(Ahem, where's chucklez?)

And we know that Juliet killed Pickett at the very least.

What if Juliet was pregnant when she died? Could the baby be Jacob?

Or the mysterious boy? Could it be that Juliet's son is trapped there?

Only 198 comments?????? But they're all good ones. :-D

I don't think that the love connection recall would work for Locke with Helen, because their love wasn't found on the island. But that doesn't make sense with Des and Pen, because their love wasn't born on-island either. So as usual, I'm clueless. Or, perhaps because Locke and Helen were also together in the FS (unlke some other couples), he would need a different catalyst to send him spinning into the FS memories, i.e. a near death experience.

Wow, interesting thoughts 2costa on who hit Emily, and your other ideas.

Let's hope that Des pops up into some kind of grotto linked to the well, and it would be extra special if there was a wheel to turn down there. That would put a kink in MIB's plans!

Wow Memphish, I like your idea that maybe Sun had memory flashes about being pregnant. Who's to say that she wouldn't have had those kinds of flashes too, like Chas, Des, and hopefully Locke? But what you said makes sense too, JT.

AL, tx, I thought that I was just 'misremembering' that color of that kid's hair and it confused me.

Haha, JT, excellent thoughts about Wonka and candidates!

2costa, I like your idea about the ghost being retained on the island scientifically, I really want to think about that now. Before when the subject of the Faraday cage was brought up about the island, it was more for the point of island protection than a spiritual thing, but maybe whatever keeps things out or in, also keeps the troubled souls in as well. Or even just the souls of anyone who dies on the island gets collected by the island. Otherewise, I'm not liking too much the fact that a Ghost Whisperer needs to come to the island to help the souls
"cross over" into the light place. :-p

I'm also thinking that maybe the 'being stuck there' part is more like Limbo than Purgatory. They are very similar. Purgatory is thought of as more of a place to purify one's soul for Heaven, and while Limbo is more of a holding station for those who died before Christ was born and for infants who die in figurative innocence, it also is used to express a state of forever being stuck in a place or situation with no hope of resolution. But I'm not Catholic, so what do I know? :-)

Great thoughts everyone! :-D

Just Thinking said...

I thought Hurley's comment to Libbey about having met in some "bizarro alternate universe" was an interesting writers' acknowledgment of fan thoughts on what the F/side is. I did hear the Darlton podcast from awhile ago where they say they are insulted to know fans use those terms to describe the f/side.

Also- I can't shake the feeling of the "game" again. Hurley asks Ilana if they are making "the right move" and she says it is "the only move they have." Michael says the whisperers "can't move on." If MIB escapes- if he gets to "home" then everything ends- just like a game that is over when one side reaches its objective.

I never read Bad Twin- but is that the idea going around- the two "mysterious boys" are twins playing a game?
