Sundown - Season 6, Episode 5

Tonight, Sayid must make a difficult decision, while Claire has a warning for the temple inhabitants.

More interesting guest stars on the way, and Carlton Cuse asks, "What happens when the sun goes down? That is the question." (thanks for the Twitter update again, maven!)

The title suggests a Sun-centric episode - dare we hope for a Sun/Jin reunion?

FIRST? LOL

memphish said...

Looking forward to tonight. I'm hoping this will be a turning point episode given that it's breaking the Season 1 mold, but then again, I'm trying to have low/no expectations.

lost2010 said...

The popups seem to believe MIB's story.

Tess315 said...

Hi All
Almost forgot to look for the new post. lol

Amy Lynn said...

I don't think it's breaking the S1 mold... S1.6 was Sun/Jin also.

Ange said...

Hi everyone. Enjoy :D.

Ellen said...

Hi ya'll! Waiting for the new episode...hope the weather calms down...high winds and snow are killing my signal off and on...:(

shhhhh!!

Black Swan said...

Hi guys.. Happy Lost Day!

I tried to get all caught up on the comments, but ran out of time. Has anyone here brought up the fact that when they showed Jack's childhood home in the mirror of the lighthouse, that he's wrong thinking Jacob has been watching him his whole life? Jack wasn't even touched by Jacob until later at the hospital with his first surgery. This makes me think that the Shepard on the cave walls and the lighthouse wheel is actually Christian. Sorry if this has been brought up before.

memphish said...

I hear what you're saying AL, but I also hear otherwise. Cryptic enough with 2 minutes to go?

Dedjezter said...

And away we go.

Kat said...

Im sooooooooooooo ready!!

maven said...

Have fun gang...catch ya all later!

Black Swan said...

Have we seen Nadia's husband before?

Kat said...

Not that I can remember... apparently its Sayid's brother??

Black Swan said...

Omar.. acts weird

Kat said...

NICE! GO SAYID!

Black Swan said...

Go Sayid!!!

Black Swan said...

Jinx, Kat! lol

Dedjezter said...

Other furniture isn't made very well... lol

Black Swan said...

Hmmm, Mattingley's ball?

Kat said...

lol i dont understand the significance of the baseball.

lost2010 said...

Sayid should have a fight in every episode.

memphish said...

Black Swan you crack me up. I was thinking Dogen was meant to be Ichiro but Jacob got in the way.

Tess315 said...

Yes he should lost2010.
Nadia only is married to Sayid's brother in the parallel time line.

TakesaVillage said...

Now that was a Sayid action figure.
Same Nadia picture from Island.

lost2010 said...

I do not like Sayid's brother.

Beverly said...

They made it look like the baseball has some significance. I can't figure out what it could be, though.

Poot ALT-Sayid. The love of his life is married to his brother. And it looks like he suspects the two of them of having an affair. Maybe they are? (Or were?)

Black Swan said...

LOL, memphish

Sayidsgirl, you sound like NOTLOST now with the shhhhh! LOL! whew! That was close for Sayid.

I've also been fooling around with the numbers and find that the mirror opposite of these could be interesting, for example Ford 15, mirror Austen 51, so Skate wins.. Shepherd 23 mirrors 32 Rutherford, so Jack saves Shannon's dad instead of saving Sarah's legs, ends up with Shannon and that's David's mom, Mattingly is 10, so whoever is connected to him would be #1? BTW, lostpedia says Mattingley is "probably the US army soldier whose uniform was stolen and used by an Other in 1954." but, hey.. who knows? LOL, maybe someone else has already done this... I was just noticing.

Dedjezter said...

Sayid go sticky sticky.... me hopes... lol

Tess315 said...

Why dies Dogen keep asking people to kill for good. He said Jack would be redeemed if he killed Sayid. Now Sayid has to prove he good by killing??

memphish said...

Interesting Black Swan, but I refuse to put anyone with Sawyer but Juliet.

lost2010 said...

That's what my son just pointed out - that killing won't make you a good guy.

memphish said...

I both hope that Sayid does it and that he doesn't.

Old Spice commercial! I love it.

Black Swan said...

I was just thinking that, SG

I love this Old Spice commercial.. hahahahaha

Tess315 said...

Or why does... not why dies.

Black Swan said...

memphish, even Juliet knew it wasn't ever meant to be ;)

Kat said...

wow black swan. maybe that has something to do with Constants?

Tess315 said...

Hate the creepy Old Spice commercial. lol

Kat said...

ALSO LOVE THAT OLDSPICE COMMERTIAL.

lost2010 said...

'Don't worry kids. If I don't help out your dad, maybe the loan sharks will kill him and I can be your dad.'

Capcom said...

I wonder why the baseball is Dogen's Precious? :-o

Tess315 said...

Jack.

Black Swan said...

"I'm on a horse" ROFL!!

Capcom said...

Maybe it belonged to son in the FS who was also in the Universe#1.

Black Swan said...

Capcom, %'m going to be so mad if all this is about some world series game!!!

Melissa_Lossa said...

Sawyer sent you packing, huh?

I love Miles.

lost2010 said...

In the ALT I bet the Sox never won the series. lol

Tess315 said...

MIB spoke first. So it didn't work.

Black Swan said...

OMG.. I thought for sure Smokey would get Sayid just then!

Beverly said...

So MIB can be killed with a special knife but only if you catch him before he starts to speak.

Uh-oh! Too late! He spoke first!

memphish said...

That was awesome!

Kat said...

oh man I guess he shouldve done it before Flocke talked.

Capcom said...

LOL Blacky.

Woops, poor Sayid, he wasn't quick enough!

Black Swan said...

Capcom, do you mean the kid who told Jack that his son played piano well?

memphish said...

Raise your hand if you wanted Sayid to stab Kate when he first encountered her.

Tess315 said...

Sayid has probably been recurited now like Jin Sawyer and Claire.

Capcom said...

Yes, that's the kid I was wondering about.

Capcom said...

Raise x infinity, Memphish.

TakesaVillage said...

Miles likes 'em wild, and a little weird.
Maybe Sayid should have taken a wooden stake.

Beverly said...

lost2010 - In the ALT I bet the Sox never won the series. lol

If that's the case the ALT is definitely NOT better! :)

Tess315 said...

lol TAV

Kevin said...

Maybe the Baseball has something to do with Richards Items, wasnt there a Baseball Glove?

Or as i said in the other comments, it has someting to do with kates Time Capsule

Beverly said...

I wonder if Adam and Eve is actually the man that MIB used to be and the loved one he says he lost.

TheOtherLisa said...

There will be no stabbing kate!!! ;-)

Melissa_Lossa said...

memphish - hand up!

lost2010 said...

Now MIB is handing out lollipops.

Tess315 said...

Ben's magic box.

Capcom said...

Cheez-wizz, MIB is like the snake in the garden of Eden.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Zombie Nadia!

Capcom said...

Oh snap, Lostit. :-o

Beverly said...

Flocke is promising each one of them what they want most. Anyone believe he can deliver on any of it?

Kat said...

MIB is like the devil himself using temptation like that haha

lost2010 said...

What if the side flashes are the 20 pieces of silver they agree to take to betray Jacob?

Capcom said...

So what does happen when the sun goes down, the moon come out, the stars come out, it gets dark, Jin cries?

Black Swan said...

TheOtherLisa said...
Black swan... I had that idea on the mirror images too...I hope there's something to it! (i'm a kate fan... wanted to give her a shot!)

I'm with you IF Kate is totally different now and I don't see why she can't be redeemed like every other killer there on the Island.. LOL!

Capcom said...

OK, who's gonna make the first joke about 'lotion'?

Black Swan said...

Is Claire in the well.. THE well?

Kat said...

So Aaron is coming?

Black Swan said...

lotion? i missed something. LOL!

HE's coming? Must be #1, or dead Locke rises from the grave like a phoenix from the ashes..

memphish said...

I am now doing the giant happy I understand the side-flashes dance! They are the things they desire and that they get for following Flocke, but because he's "bad" they aren't perfect, just closer to right. So Sayid knows Nadia is safe and cared for but doesn't trust himself to be happy with her. Jack gets to be a better dad that his was, but didn't dare to dream that his father was the one that was better. Locke gets Helen and his dad but was content to still be in the wheelchair. Don't really get what Kate gets, but that's okay.

Black Swan said...

Locke vs Locke

lost2010 said...

Kate gets to be sure Aaron is with his mother. . .but doesn't get Sawyer.

Capcom said...

Oh Memphish!

'Lotion' is 'from Silence of the Lambs'. :-p

Dedjezter said...

Capcom... I had the same damn thought... lol

Amy Lynn said...

Best part of the episode - ALTSayid looking both ways while helping the kids across the street to get to the bus.

memphish said...

Good one Lost2010. I don't really understand how that works with her still trying to kill her dad, but I can live with that.

And Hurley, Hurley gets money and luck!

Black Swan said...

Ah, yes.. I get it

memphish.. sounds like the yin/yang of real life

Beverly said...

Lost2010 - What if the side flashes are the 20 pieces of silver they agree to take to betray Jacob?

Oooh! Good thought! It's making a lot more sense thinking about it that way!

Capcom - 'lotion' - huh? Did I miss something?

Capcom said...

I knew you would Ded. ;-)

lost2010 said...

Keamy!!! Capcom try to contain yourself.

Tess315 said...

Keamy and Omar.

Dedjezter said...

Hee Hee ... its Keemy... and he is doing a crappy Wallken impersonation...

Melissa_Lossa said...

Keamy is evil in any reality.

Black Swan said...

there's that orange lighting like in dharmaville.. it's not real, not of this is real, the light doesn't scatter right

Ange said...

Wow Memphish!

Black Swan said...

Dedjezter said...
Hee Hee ... its Keemy... and he is doing a crappy Wallken impersonation.

ROFL!!

Capcom said...

LOL Lost2010 and Ded. Oh yeah.

Dedjezter said...

Banging is sawyer

Dedjezter said...

Damn... Jin... lol

Black Swan said...

Jin? And he doesn't speak English

Melissa_Lossa said...

Jin?! So was Keamy getting the watch?

Amy Lynn said...

Keamy and Jin! WAHOO.

memphish said...

Totally don't get why Jin is there, but I love that they had Keamy and Omar! I hope everyone enjoyed Keamy dying again.

Kat said...

and Jin? No english for jin in ATL

Black Swan said...

Good question, Mel!!!

TheOtherLisa said...

Oh MIB is clever.... ridiculously, frighteningly clever. I think you are right, one word, and it's over.

He leverages Aaron with claire, nadia to sayid, jin or Sun with the other....he'll leverage Jack with his son (or father), Kate with Tom....and the list goes on.. I am officially and thoroughly freaked out. He's anyone's worst nightmare.

Oh, the chicken back to Sayid killing one for his brother... what a parallel!!! Well played! The guy from the freighter and Keamy... Keamy has always freaked me out!

So, Sun's father made a bad business deal....betcha Sayid gets the watch....wow...I'm floored!

memphish said...

I totally thought Jin would speak English in the X verse

Beverly said...

OMG! Jin!

Capcom said...

I didn't. :-(

Dedjezter said...

Maybe Keemy was Piak's stateside assassin???

Tess315 said...

Some things never change Melissa.
At least Sayid got to finish Keamy this time. No kevlar.

Kat said...

AHHH <3 DID you know that im riding this horse backwards? hiya

memphish said...

TheOtherLisa, but is it really a 20 pieces of silver deal?

Old Spice Guy!

Back to my point. Is it better to get part of a universe or life on an Island with none of it?

Dedjezter said...

Memphish, we all ready saw Jin not speaking, but don't yet know about Sun.

Kat said...

his son and baseball. hmmm

Kat said...

Thats why the baseball is so important. its the only thing he has left of his son

Tess315 said...

He's going to kill dogen

lost2010 said...

I guess he is claimed.

Kevin said...

WTF!!!! that was just...breathtaking

Tess315 said...

It would havea been nice to know it was going to run over my recording just stopped.

Beverly said...

It looks like Sayid has gone completely over to the dark side.

Is Kate one of Flocke's recruits now? It kinda looks like it, huh?

Kat said...

it definitely looks like it.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Well, I think we can go ahead and consider Sayid claimed.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Creepy scene at the end with Claire singing.

Amy Lynn said...

That was super awesome.

futureself said...

Kate's the anomaly.

Capcom said...

Wow, my eyes were buggin' out for the final scenes. 8-o

TheOtherLisa said...

SG- Oh my...Ben's magic Box is right!

Memphish- wow, you might be right about those flash sideways....(kate will get her mom's forgiveness and tom) (glad you are doing sideways happy dance)

Lost 2010- perfect analogy about the silver.

The baseball is his son's...explains everything.

Did not see this coming....thought Sayid would be good! Arrgghhh!!! His words "not for me" might be the freakiest thing I've seen. Worse than Keamy.

Lapidis! Ilana! Ben! Sun! To the rescue!

They have Kate now too...(sad, sad, sad)

I am too freaked out...I may not sleep for weeks.

lost2010 said...

I think Kate's just tagging along because she's a survivor.

She and Sawyer will be the swing votes in this thing in the end, I'll bet.

futureself said...

I ate so many crackers and cheese through that episode...I'm gonna have nightmares :(

TakesaVillage said...

Apocalypse Now;Sawyer was right.
(Col. Kurtz)

Melissa_Lossa said...

Did Cindy and the kids go with FLocke? Or were they casualties?

Tess315 said...

Ok that was just bizarre.

lost2010 said...

In that one poster, you had Locke on one side. . .Jack and Hurley on the other. . .with Sawyer and Kate sort of in between them. . .Sawyer more on Locke's side of the poster and Kate more in the middle. . .

That's how it looks like it's lining up.

memphish said...

I loved that episode. As you all know, it came at the perfect time for me as the X-verse was wearing on me. But now I feel like I understand it. The X-verse is a deal with the devil. But then again, given Dogen's story, Island life is a deal with a different devil. The deal Dogen made with Jacob is like the one Ben brokered with Juliet when he claimed her sister had cancer and Jacob could heal her, yet Juliet had to stay on the Island. It's going to take a bit to process all that happened.

As for Kate I'm guessing her "candidate" status is protecting her for now. Were those people with Flocke Others that chose his side after Sayid's speech or some other group? I didn't see Cindy and the kids which would have told me, so I'm wondering. I'm kind of surprised Sayid didn't kill Ben. I'm glad, but sort of surprised.

Kevin said...

I wonder what Kate saw in Smokey...

Capcom said...

Oh man, TAV!

Black Swan said...

ROFL, futureself!!

memphish..Back to my point. Is it better to get part of a universe or life on an Island with none of it? It's always going to be both, if you have everything it's not real and you wouldn't appreciate it anyway.

lost2010
She and Sawyer will be the swing votes in this thing in the end, I'll bet.

Yep!! At least I'm pretty sure Sawyer.. he doesn't get swayed so easily. We'll see about Kate, not sure on her yet.

I need to watch that again, was choking on my diet coke at the end there.. LOL!

TheOtherLisa said...

No, Memphish- the 20 pieces of silver was not a deal. It is something Judas committed suicide over....but Lost2010's comparison was just excellent! I am so glad to hear you excited about the sideways!

Like I said to you before-- you ask the question again, is what you thought was terrible and you would "fix" (all your regrets and losses), what would you trade for a "do-over" and would it be better??? Without Judas, would we (Christians) have who we believe to be a Savior? If we stick to the parralel...there is still time for a final sacrifice to save everyone who chooses (ala MIB, only the ones who don't listen die?)

future- i'd love for kate to be fakin!

Tess315 said...

Cindy left the temple. She may be in the jungle.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I'm just glad that smokey didn't kill my beloved Miles!

Kevin said...

Cindy was with Flocke

Capcom said...

It makes sense that the island would be sunk in your Universe Memphish, if MIB won, the island is destroyed. Now, two universes are battling, oy! 'Course, I still can't make my head line everything up, but I'm going with your idea for now.

Have to say one thing for kate, if she's faking it to infiltrate the enemy, she's damm brave.

Tess315 said...

They're pulling out all the si-fi stops with this one.

Capcom said...

LOL, SG.

TheOtherLisa said...

memphish- maybe not a different devil- but there is the "sacrifice" to give one's life for another. Dogen gave his life WITH his son, and HIS desires, to give his son life and right his wrong.... that's not a devil's deal to lay down one's life for another...I believe it was really jacob who met Dogen in the hospital.

Capcom said something potentially nice about Kate! Memphis likes the X verse!

Wooo hoo! ;-) This was a good ep!

And I'm liking that mirror image # thing more and more... if you split that lost supper poster in half, where does the "mirror image" fall???

Black Swan said...

I'll never feel the same about that song, 'Catch a falling star' again..

lost2010 said...

I always thought it was a creepy little song.

Black Swan said...

TOL, I've done some overlays of the last supper pic.. it's interesting

memphish said...

TOL - 20 pieces of silver was both the deal Judas wanted to make and ultimately so unfulfilling he committed suicide. So does that mean in the sideways universe we are going to see them all driven to end their own lives for this deal? Or at least Sayid?

Sayid was in the Judas position in the promo photo right?

It also makes me wonder if the side-flashes are the sort of alt-verse Sayid as Judas would make for them rather than themselves, though I don't think he knew all their details and do-over desires.

lost2010 said...

I'm no longer ambiguous about whether MIB is a bad guy. I'm now sure he's bad.

Tess315 said...

lol Black Swan pretty creepy huh.
It's like the Stephen King movie with the kids sing I'm a little tea pot. creepy.

TheOtherLisa said...

Memphish- I'm sorry I was unclear. I know that WAS the deal and Judas made it voluntarily... I only meant that it wasn't a "good deal"-- 20 pieces of silver for your life, or a life of regret.. obvously didn't work out so well....sorry I was so unclear!

Tess315 said...

The Last Supper pic had Sayid as Judas. I was hoping that was wrong.

memphish said...

Hmmm, TOL you have me thinking. Dogen laid down his life for his son, but the problem is that none of the other of them had a similar choice. Dogen's sacrifice could certainly be seen as noble and even Christ-like, but for Jacob to bring the rest of them to the Island without a similar quid pro quo still leaves me thinking he is not good, but merely another manipulative punk.

Beverly said...

Yeah, BS, who ever thought you could make that song sound so ominous.

memphish said...

TOL sorry if I too was unclear, I get it re Judas. The thing is it is the ultimate case of careful what you wish for, especially if you benefit from it too.

lost2010 said...

20 pieces of silver is a deal that was ultimately worthless because he lost his soul.

They're giving up their hard-won redemption in the island-universe. . .for these promises by MIB.

TheOtherLisa said...

Perhaps, we do see them all choose to end their lives somehow...

We see Locke driven to suicide post island- is what he wanted the most, what MIB tempted him with is getting everyone back/saving the island, having a "purpose"...

Jack to suicide over Locke's death, and possibly a shared mission....

Now perhaps Sayid???

I knew I saw the garden of eden, tree of knowledge in that premier....it all ends up different stories, but only one ending...my Bible says good wins.... here's hoping that works in Lost-verse...

Capcom said...

Right TOL! But for the record, I do think that Kate has some good qualities...her bad ones just seem to over-rule them too much. :o)

Right Blacky, it ain't a Perry Como or Der Bingle song anymore! That was one of my favorite songs when I was little, and I used to walk around with a plastic Christmas star in my pocket and sing it...I was a weird kid.

Boy, those promo pix are sure strting to add up.

lost2010 said...

TOL - I think you may be on the right track there. I'm getting a bad feeling about that ALT-verse - like it's all going to come out for the worse in the end or something.

Black Swan said...

memphish, yep... Jacob is just a manipulative punk! LOL! and he changed their lives by touching them right when they were at a point in their lives when it was easier to manipulate them, when they were down.

I'm gonna watch that again and work more on my reflective numbers theory.. LOL!

I agree this week's sidestory was better this time.

Beverly said...

Just thought of something. I think others have discussed it in the past so it's not really a new idea but...

"Catch a falling star..." Could that be an analogy - fallen angel? Or falling angels? (candidates turned to the dark side?)

TOL, I agree about the sacrifice thing. Jacob was offering help to others if you were to sacrifice yourself. MIB is offering you something for yourself - selfish reasons for joing up with him. Doing things for selfish reasons usually ends up backfiring - you know, Karma and all that.

If that pans out, I think we'll see things starting to unravel in the X-verse.

TheOtherLisa said...

They're giving up their hard-won redemption in the island-universe. . .for these promises by MIB.
Lost 2010- WOW. Yep.

Ok... Memphish, we're on the same page... but they all have something to lay down.

We don't know what deal MIB made to Sayid, really...we know it involves Nadia, but what? Obviously, it wasn't to be married to her, or MIb didn't deliver, b/c we see her married to the bro. True love might have wished her alive, but have been willing to live without her? Is there a BUT in all of MIB's promises?

If my theory on Locke plays out, he could have laid down his quest for a purpose and accept what is-- he wanted more...

Anyway... MIB is really the worse nightmare....between he and Keamy...I'm kinda not joking about not being able to sleep!

Capcom said...

Well it all reminds me of how someone prays, "If you can do this one thing for me I promise I'll never (insert activity) again!" And it's often a bargain that can't be kept. :-)

Black Swan said...

Capcom, I LOVED Perry Como as a kid.. you and I could have hung out together. LOL!

Kate needed more 'mothering' as a kid. The only thing that came out right was her tracking and survival skills she got from military Austen man, the one she thought was her father..

Capcom said...

In anothuh life sistuh. :o)

TheOtherLisa said...

Lost 2010- I was just runnin with your 20 pieces of silver thought... it was a good one!

Lostit- falling star / fallen angel... I can go there, easily....

Capcom--- yeah, those prayers are usually such a fraud on the parts of the pray-ers! if pray-ers were ever held to them.. hmmmm.... perhaps MIB's promises are conditional, and the conditions are what drives the bargains....

Beverly said...

TOL, maybe there's a parallel between MIB's conditions and Keamy's "loan shark" conditions.

Black Swan said...

LOL, capcom.. yeah, good point on the prayers/deals we make. This whole thing has been reminding me of like in the cartoons when there's a devil on one shoulder telling you one thing, and an angel on the other shoulder telling you the other.

TheOtherLisa said...

Lostit- you beat me to that last part.... I like the Loan shark parrallel... the promises are on loan.....

memphish said...

So I think the deal with the deal you make with Flocke is basically the problem with any type of "wishes" you can make Aladdin's Lamp style. You can't cover all the contingencies, so you wish for Nadia's happiness. In Sayid's mind in one scenario that means married to him with 2 kids and 2 dry cleaning stores, but in a tiny corner of his mind he knows what kind of guy he is, he's the one who confessed to Hurley that he has a lot to answer for, and so MIB/Smokey, the one who scans you and knows all your secrets creates a world where the letter of your wish is fulfilled, but within the confines of your current make-up. Sayid doubts that he could be good enough for Nadia given all the bad he's done, so he ends up with her married to his brother, at his own urging.

Same for the rest of them. Kate longs for a perfect family, but the best she can get is helping Claire to achieve that. Jack wants a good father/son relationship, but the best he can get is a second chance with his son, but not with his own father.

Given what we saw in the season opener I feel like everyone will make a deal with the devil that is Flocke, after all they are all on the plane.

I see your point re Island-redemption too though. But I have to say that working out your redemption on an Island vs. the real world feels somewhat like a cheat on Jacob's part. I'm still not a fan of his given that he basically brought these people to the Island against his will and permitted "innocents" to die in the process of achieving redemption for our main Losties.

Black Swan said...

btw, Smokey was pretty awesome tonight, huh?

memphish said...

Great idea re the loan shark parallel LostIt.

Capcom said...

Heheh, like that Twilight Zone with Mickey Rooney where he wishes he was big (a big shot I guess) and he gets REALLY BIG!

Oh wow, Memphish, as in "Please don't let this plane crash right now?" :-o

Capcom said...

Yes, the loan shark idea is neat!

Black Swan said...

Yeah I love the loan shark idea.. Dharma shark! LOL!

Beverly said...

Or the Twilight Zone where the last guy on earth has all the time in the world to read and tons of books around him but he needs his glasses to read and his glasses are broken.

Capcom said...

Yes, that one too! Bottom line being, be careful what you wish for as usual.

Wow, I think that TPTB are reaching Rod Serling levels of psychodrama awesomeness as they reveal the secrets.

lost2010 said...

I was trying to think why I felt like something was missing from this episode. . .

And then I realized there was no Sawyer and no Jack.

I hope they rectify this situation next week. I can't be watching this show if they let this situation continue.

TheOtherLisa said...

oh... memphish... MIB pulls your deepest wish and fears out of your mind, not your mouth? wow.

You are right that a promise might set Hurley up to be lucky, not guilty and cursed. (oh my, I could go Biblical about someone taking the curse for you... on that one)

If we didn't see Kate in handcuffs, I'd have guessed she was David's mother/Jack's x (got the love she wanted, but kept running)....perhaps she does get sawyer and they are mirror-versed...

I get where you are going, Memphish, on the island being a "cheat" or "crutch"-- but I'll go with it being a possiblity. Sometimes.... we need someone to call off the dogs for a while while we can get some strength and perspective... you can parrallel it to going away for basic training, training for a war....
( a agree with the innocents though, its tough to swallow)

The Tree of Knowledge is what Flocke is offering Saywer... it's what he talked about in the opener... he's been a serpant all the way!

But this seems great... somehow too easy... let me ask a wildly controversial question. Do we unequivocally KNOW that MIB = smokey?

We know that Smokey= Flocke and other apparitions, but have we been ABSOLUTLEY sure that Smokey is MIB?

Beverly said...

Speaking of missing people - where was Richard?

RobPerrin said...

Quick impressions: Very compelling episode. Great Sayid ep. Chilling stuff near the end from Naveen Andrews. Good work by Emilie de Ravin too. Direction was noticeably un-Bender-like, but still good. TOQ plays evil incarnate very well! Great to see Keamy & Omar & Nadia. I thought Miles was a goner near the end -- the fact that he's hanging at the Temple playing cards highlights his lack of purpose in the story at this point. The back-and-forthing with Sayid in the 1st half (banished! no, on a mission!) was a little odd.

I think that we're in for the long haul with the war here, especially if we are waiting for Widmore to eventually get back somehow and put in his efforts as well. I doubt we've seen the last of his butting in.

So far Jack and Hurley are safe because Jacob got them away from the temple. They'll be the one's to stop MIB.

TOL, I think the conversation between Flocke and Jacob in the statue just beofre Ben killed JAcob revealed that he was indeed MIB. "I guess you found your loophole" or something like that.

TOL, I think we know that Smokey=MIB, but I can't swear to it.

I was fearful for Miles too, and glad he survived.

I was looking back at the LOST Supper photos and they are confusing. In the main one, Sayid is at the Judas position, Claire is also on that side as are Sawyer and Kate -- but then Richard and Ilana are too. Jack, Hurley, Ben, Sun, Frank, and Miles are on the other side -- but then so is Jin. So at a minimum, we aren't at that division yet.

Night all. I'm sure I'll sleep poorly. Yeah!

LostIt- i recall that now, thanks.... I was out to find the spin.... Ok... maybe it is "easy"--- its just an answer without more questions.
Wow.
I'm stunned.

Yeah, the lost supper pic shows some very unexpected divisions if that's what to come.

Do you think Sawyer & Jin are hanging in one of Flocke's nets a la Richard?

Also, Sayid's (lack of) reaction to Claire's reappearance was odd. Guess the infection is to blame. Though even Miles was a little cavalier. It had been 3 years since they saw her, right? (Or 30 years, depending on how you count.)

SG, I'd love to see Sawyer and Hurley in the end as the heroes.. LOL, they are so great together.

Yeah, weird with no Sawyer or Jack or Richard. I guess Jack is still reflecting on his life looking out at the ocean? Richard hiding out under a tree somewhere?

Another good duo to see finally to quit their fighting amongst themselves and be the heroes would be Jack and Sawyer.. they are not so different really and that's why they're always butting against eachother.

I'm assuming Rose and Bernard are going to show up again. If they flashed into 2007 with the rest of them when the bomb went off (or didn't) then are they still "retired" and hanging out somewhere in the jungle?

How was Dogen keeping Smokey out of the temple?

I know this is the show of "why didn't you give the important information", but it really drove me nuts that Kate didn't tell Claire that Aaron is with Claire's mum.

My friend at myspace made a good point on his blog that we don't really know if the whole idea of 'candidates' is related to Jacob or not. In last week's episode, Dogan let Hurley have his way when he said he was a 'candidate', but he acted scared and said he'd cut off Hurley's head if he could.. so wouldn't that imply that the 'candidate' idea is all MIB's thing? Sorry if this has already been discussed here.
