Lighthouse - Season 6, Episode 4

Tonight, Hurley tries to persuade Jack to accompany him on an unspecified mission while Jin runs into an old friend.

What is the Lighthouse? Could it be the Lighthouse Station?

SG-
But he would be unconscious in whichever body his mind wasn’t in. This doesn’t seem to be happening to Jack in this scenario.

Not in what we see in the episode, I agree... but if he went to the island during the surgery he would have been unconscious. I don't think it's a theory without holes, maybe more guess than theory, but the Des thing got me thinking about years in captive in the hatch and years captive in jail. If WHH- and if certain events are key, and if they can happen on and/or off the island (on and on ifs)...

Re: Jack, if we go with the can only "travel" while "unconscious" theory--- that might even give new meaning to why Jack started drinking/drugging? Periods of blackout to travel?

Maven- that sounds like so much fun!

Back to watching coverage in Hawaii.

Add my prayers to those for Chile and those in the tsunami's path.

We got another 8-10 inches on Friday, more west toward NYC got more, but we already had 3 feet from the storm last week, and more from the storm the week before that. So it's time to put those sleds to good use!

I am grateful it's only snow.
I hope and pray that Hawaii will be spared the tidal wave. Unfortunately, the longer the distance the more powerful the wave can become. That's why a quake around the world can cause such devastation so far away, it gains strength and size as it travels.

According to Twitter, there are a ton of people lined up for the Paley Center event that starts in several hours... I'm confused, isn't it assigned seating?

Ok, I get what you're saying when 7 year old Jack was having his appendix out he was unconsious. While Jack on the island wasn't. Right?

But I don't really think consious time travel parallels. Or at least Desmond's didn't. Not to say that it couldn't. I at first thought it was consious time traveling. But it doesn't fit for me and I've changed my mind.

Whatever the parallel time line is, it does seem similar with the deja vu that Jack's having. And it seems he's the only one having it. So the parallel time has something to do with him personally. Whatever Jack has to do may have to do with the parallel time line. Or not who knows. :)

Funny you should mention skunks Amused2BeHere. Today we went to Reelfoot Lake a little over 2 hours north of Memphis to see bald eagles before they migrate north, and we encountered many a dead skunk on the road. We also saw 4 eagles, 2 flying, 1 sitting in a tree and 1 sitting in a nest, plus 3 trumpeter swans.

Have a great time Maven and give us all the spoiler-free details. I think Maven may qualify as the LOST uber-fan. She's gone to all the cool stuff.

@memphish.... some day I will have the big bucks it requires to do the cool things :)

Maven, like the internet, has been at the right place at the right time with LOST.

SG I... 7 year old Jack was having his appendix out he was unconsious. While Jack on the island wasn't. Right? Yep, that's where I was going with it. Doesn't make it a good theory, but we do see Des knocked out by the paddle, waking up...and they are in conjunction with a "change"... and we see Jack's eye's opening 2x and being on the island... dunno... Is Des the only one we're SURE has travelled (or whatever it ends up being)? (not counting Minkowski, and though I'm believing Faraday might have too during his pre-island dimentia/illness... not counting him either)

It's not a bad theory. I had a similar one. After TPTB said we'd see season 1 character's at comic con. I thought the only way they could do that was with conscious time travel when they detonated the bomb. I felt there would have to be some kind of jolt or trama not necessarily physical (like the cricket bat) to bring them back to their own time. (I never considered parallel time lines.)

Desmond came away with this experience with the ability to see Charlie's future. And I thought maybe the same would happen for the Losties. That they would bring some kind of ability with them to help them "fxi" things on the island.

But I have since abandoned that possibility. Because for me the mechanics are different and don't work for me.

It seems to me that the parallel time line is about Jack, even though we are seeing all the character's stories.

TheOtherLisa said...

SG- you could be as right as any other guesses out there!

lol Yeah, true. I'll probably have at least 10 more different theories before this show is over. :)

Awesome time at the Lost Panel! I was in the first row! There were some spoilers given and we got a sneak peak at a scene from next week's show! Damon, Carlton, Jack Bender, Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, Nester Carbonell, Terry O'Quinn, Michael Emerson and Ilana (don't remember her long name) were all there! I got them all to sign my "Lost Supper" picture! Did I mention I was in the front row?!?!?!

Here are some pics I posted on Facebook.

maven said...

@Amy Lynn: The tickets were just for a section (Orchestra, Mezzanine or Balcony)...there were no assigned seats. Don't ask me why! I was lucky at the last moment to hook up with someone who had an extra Premium Ticket which let you in before everyone and gave you seating in the first 4 rows! Did I mention I was in the first row!?!?!?

I'm sorry Maven,,I didn't quite get that. Its raining in the desert..again. Are you saying you sat in the first row?

I;m interested in this Paley business. Was the panel discussion very controlled? Okay, a few spoilers, but did they get into any depth? Questions from the audience?
Any chili dogs for sale?
Thanks for bringing the pics to us and for sharing.

What fun Maven! ;-) Thanks for the pics!
Sneak peak? So elite! You must have been so excited!

@MEL: Paul Scheer was the Moderator and he did a great job! He asked a series of various questions as a true fan would. It was not controlled from my pov, but maybe they did decide upfront what they would disclose and what they wouldn't. They didn't get too deep, but did talk about about their overall process of writing the show. There were questions from the audience at the end, and our own Comixguru got to ask one (Is Locke really dead?)! Here is a "recap" of last night's panel from EW. They do warn of spoilers...so read at your own risk. I don't consider them major spoilers and, of course, they can always be ambiguous.

Thanks for all the updates... and glad that in the age of technology, I can watch the whole thing on YouTube.

Thanks so very much Maven..I can only imagine how " pumped" you were last nite and even now..Its a great feeling...Haa! " water"...Man is Soluble keeps coming to my mind.

Speakin about Soluble..here is a post I made at another board,,concerning inquiry on the number 23 and connection to Jack...It may be of interest.

AAH! the number 23.. well,,you asked,,so here goes..btw..thanks for the opportunity..

Its my view that LOST is a updated, modern version of Andre Breton's classic work of Surrealism, " Nadja"...The book has 44 plates or photographs in it. Each plate is numbered and has a corresponding discussion of it in the literature. So..the number 23 plate...is reproduction of Uccello's Profanation of The Host triple paneled painting. The painting itself is an exploration of....the folly of compartmentalizing the Freedom of Christ's Love..or .Systematizing Love..or ..applying boundaries to that which can only exist with out bounds..hypocrisy..pretense,,Pretense may be the best word.

now.. apply to Jack character..Pretense..the attempt to make something that is not the case,,to appear true....As Jack put it himself...his fathers remark..." you don't have what it takes" hes carried with him all his life...Jack has let that " lie", that pretense,,be his motivation all his life..Unfortunately,,it hasn't been until The Light House did Jack finally realize that he does have what it takes...Love. So,,Jack as Man of Science..Logic...be a better Doctor than his old man..was based on a Pretense ,,and became a Pretense, that resulted in nothing but frustration and disappointment for Jack...Jack has seen the Pretense of his whole existence..and is now liberated from it. Yay for Jack!!!

The " water" Jack now finds himself in or..contemplating...he dissolves in.

wow, thanks Maven. Luckeee! (said in my best Napoleon Dynamite voice).

Mmm...btw, where did you sit? Were your seats any good? (LOL)

Two more days to LOST!

Just read the roundup of last night's events.... pretty disappointing, spoiler-wise. We knew 99% of that, even without having read spoilers about any episode past this week's.

Wow, Maven, that is so cool!

I was just reading a recap of "The Substitute" by Anna on DarkUFO and sonmething she said got me thinking. She was taking about the scene where Locke-ness cut Richard down from taht canvas thing he had put him in and said that he "wanted what he always wanted - for you to come with me". She said that it hinted of a deeper history and relationship between Richard and MIB.

It immediately made me think of Jack and his son David in the X-verse - the scene where Jack said "I just want to be part of your life".

Could it be that there is a father-son relationship between Richard and MIB? Hard to tell who's older so I don't know who would be the Dad and who would be the son...

Well Amy..i found the " clue" of water interesting at least, As already mentioned , Bretons statement, " Man is Soluble"..is possibly becoming more and more connected to season 6. Sayid being reborn in a different water..the Island under water,,John and the sprinklers, Kate sitting on a toilet, Hey they put her there ,I didn't!, anyway, Sawyer and Kate out on the dock, Jack's reflection in the pond, hhmm another mirror image there, so we have mirror images in both realities..Come to think of it,,the very first thing we saw of LOST was a mirror image,,,the reflected image of the bamboo off of Jacks opening eye..and now Jack contemplates the Ocean...So,,water as a metaphor, heck Smokie is made of water..so, like Jack,, there is plenty to think about with the clue , water..The possibilities , the possibilities.......

MEL

mungonna said...

Lostit...Well Then..who would be the Mother?..another character dropping in from the sky..?

Seems to me the similarity in lines is to idea of extending oneself beyond the parameters of the mundane..as in Alice going down the rabbit hole..visiting other realities,,thinking and perceiving a different way...Jack did it..John Locke did it..Kate did it...LockeZilla has apparently been beseeching Alpert for a while,,but Rich is so status quo now,,he fears the change.

Amy Lynn said...

MEL, "water" is a dumb clue. The season began in the water. It only makes sense that it would end that way. My cat could have given you that clue.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

well, that's a bit harsh Amy Lynn, why is anyone's clue less valuable than anothers ? I think someone needs to go try and get out of the right side of the bed so she can play nice with others.

Amy Lynn said...

Lisa-Maladylis, put your claws back. I wasn't criticizing MEL, I was saying Darlton's big "spoiler" was ridiculous.

Lisa-Maladylis said...

No claws were out. I just hate it when I see people slamming others ideas. Sorry to have gotten it wrong. If my claws had been out, you'd know for sure.

I was sitting about 15 feet from Damon when he said "water"! (Did I mention I was in the first row?) And it's one of those things that can be taken very many ways. He definitely said it with his mischievous grin. So you don't know if he means it or if he's giving something away. And, of course, it can be taken so many ways. Yes, we saw the island under water in the premiere. So maybe it's under water at the end. I just took it with a grain of salt and waiting to see what happens over the next few months.

I think Damon was having fun with some gullible fans :)

I still think that the Island-losties are broken (and Jack even gave voice to that this time, yay!). And that Jacob broke them to use them for a purpose.

I see the ALT-timeline as the casting film that Jacob watched. He had the ability to watch these people live their lives and how that would all come out. And as he watched it, he identified candidates - people who - if he gave them a little push here and a little push there - would be able to serve his purposes.

And he plucked them out of the life they should have had.

Now, I'm watching to see whether he did that for the greater good. . .or just to toy with them because he could.

lost2010 said...

I was going to say a little something about why I enjoy the ALT-timeline and I forgot.

I sort of considered last season's finale sort of like the end. Our losties met. . .they fought for survival. . .they made enemies and friends. . .some of them fell in love and some fell out of love. . .

Juliet fell in a big hole. . .

And she set off the bomb as they had all been working together to do.

They did it! They accomplished their goal (really wierd goal though it was).

Now, we're watching the epilogue.

Only they've decided to give us two epilogues for some crazy reason.

We get one epilogue like it worked and one like it didn't work.

I don't mind that. :)
