Dan isn't left, but he did return with a task, so I guess I count him too. Yep, I'd count Lapidus too. I also wouldn't rule out that each person we've lost, has had a part in that collective conscience--- if only to be the challenges and sources of the remaining character's uh... "characteristics" ;-)

Anyway... long driveway... again, open to someone handing me mustard to go with the swiss cheese. Nothing spicy please... I prefer it sweet! ;-)

Happy Birthday Scoutpost! *<|:o)

Anyone's guess about Dogen is good at this point. I hope that he has a backstory as well, one can imagine all sorts of things particularly that he was a samurai, shogun, etc. from Japan. Good stuff indeed.

does anyone have a translation of exactly what the japanese other was saying?

I have a feeling that richard knocked out ellie before the incident to get her off the island. Richard probably used the same way off the island that he used before the submarine, like when he visited locke's mom. So faraday probably exists in the sideways reality, since he is on the season six poster.

I bet the hydra and looking glass station are still working on the underwater island. Perhaps jacob or whoever nudged people in the dharma to make those stations with the sideways reality in mind. jacob seems to co-opt dharma technology when he needs it like the orchid. In a similar way i think that mib co-opted some other technology that was the smoke. why else does the smoke have a distinct mechanical sound.

a lot of people are thinking that jacob and mib are angels of sorts. Really old beings that have been at it a while. So they think that mib wanting to get home means heaven or hell or whatever. What if jacob and mib are actually from the future. They seem to have first hand knowledge of the end of days. Maybe home to mib is the future. If you notice the time flashes never went into the future, they only went from 2007 to earlier times. Perhaps if jacob has knowledge of all of history by virtue of being from the future. the course corrections may just be jacob keeping history as he knows it as close to the original as possible, because if he changed it too much he would lose his advantage of knowing basically what was gonna happen next. Plus he need the events of the outside world to still happen for his own plan. For instance if jacob wanted to avert the end of days why not stop the rise of hitler. Well maybe jacob needed ww2 to happen so the nuclear bomb was developed, so that jughead would make it to the island, in order to create the time loop with the orchid and swan...

OK, so with Lost airing tuesdays, tomorrow will be my last day here until saturday, when the show has aired here in the UK.

I am expecting Sayid to be "changed". When Ben was templed, Alpert warned he would "lose his innocence" (did the asian dude molest him? yikes!) so I wonder what will happen to Sayid, who was never innocent to begin with. Or even if it IS Sayid. It might well be Jacob pretending to be Sayid for several episodes. We shall see.

I want to see the freighter folk interact with FLocke some more, and maybe finally the Alpert enigma unscrambled. BLACK ROCK FLASHBACK PLEASE!

Or maybe the reason the water is murky is because it is evil in which case Sayid might be controlled by the Man in Black.

'One of these days, sooner or later... I'm going to find a loophole, my friend...'

'You have no idea what I've gone through to get here...'

I just wonder how long Smibby has been around for. It seems like he's been about for centuries indeed if we (tenuously) make an assumption about him certainly being as old as the temple. But it this loophole that's been bugging me.

Smibby found a fall guy for sure when John Locke dropped out of the sky, but it seems that he was working on his fall guy's sidekick for some time...baby Ben. And everything had to be in the right place at the right time; for example, when Ben shoots Locke in his missing kidney. Coincidence, divine intervention, or careful, painstakingly, dastardly planning?

Going back to an earlier thought I had about the futility of the cycle. The rock, paper, scissors....or tic-tac-toe, which the WOPR (War Operation Plan Response) Supercomputer in the 80's film 'War Games' plays numerous games of before realising it pointless, "A strange game. The only winning move is not to play". Smibby certainly seems tired of the cycle of events which 'all end the same'.

But instead of just similar events, what if he was witnessing time replayed out again and again over millennia? The Island is his Punxsutawney, and he keeps on waking up at 6am on the same day. He'd be able to plan a hell of a lot...try out each scenario like Phil Conners until it was just right. Hell, it would explain why he was so pissed off. Smashing the pilot around and leaving him high up in the tree tops above the muddy puddle (a tribute to knocking out Needle Nose Ned Ryerson perhaps?).

Well, perhaps I'm stretching the analogy a bit to far but the point is that it's possible that Smokey and Jacob have been playing the same record for a very, very, very long time.

FYI: Daniel Dae Kim has been signed for a lead role on the new Hawaii 5-0. Kind of makes it more real that things are ending for Lost. :(

ack, I am behind again! I immediately thought of Sean Connery when you were all talking about being read in the voice of famous people. And Future, you had to go nominate him... dagnamit now I won't be paying attention to a word you say, just the voice.... mmmm....
