On tonight's episode: The way back to the island is revealed to members of the Oceanic 6, but there’s trouble ahead when not all of them wish to return.
Time to find out if Ben can make all of the Oceanic 6 play nice, or if he's going to have to turn that van around. Fasten those seat belts and let's go!

second?
yep... lol!
lol you just beat me Swany
Black Swan you've done it again.
Sounds like the pop-ups are useful tonight. Do you think the Island jumps one more time when Locke turns the wheel or will the LBs be stuck before well time?
it's just you and me, sg
Repost from last thread:
So chronologically it goes
chamber with donkey wheel
well
Orchid
It's kind of important that the chamber was built before the well because it gives us a clue about who might have built which.
Also they said implied that the well and orchid station served the same purpose - to hide the chamber.
Why does TLC show up all blue for me?
yep, memphish... Ben interpreted that since 'jacob' didn't tell locke how to move the island that ben himself was supposed to do it
I like how they played a little Locked Out Again when they're discussing Locke's sacrifice.
oh,oh... what the...
Spam in a new thread?
Ah, it's a Firefox thing. Still FF didn't used to do that to the blog.
what was that?....spam?
xxoo
Okay...we're getting spam?
Thanks, Sayidsgirl, for the explanation.
Have fun everyone!
Mods can delete those comments?
I love how the proof Jin wanted to give Sun of his death is used as proof of his life. Poetic.
THAT was weird. I hope nobody wanted to shop for sneakers right now! :)
Well, that clears that up. Pop up just said "This is Faraday's mother, Eloise Hawking."
That made me laugh. nice that they're spelling it out.
And Micheal is in the preview for the Unusuals.
3, 2, 1, it's ON!!!
Eye theme. Say wha?
Jack is on the island in a suit saving people again. Is this Season 1?
The Lamppost, probably a reference to The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.
Poor Charlotte.
I LOVED the beginning!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! That's all I got. And Hurley brought a guitar? Did Charlie tell him to?
Ok this is starting out pretty good.
Hmm, I wonder how he gets Kate to come with him in only 46 hours...
Looks like Kate hit the rocks at the waterfall? How the heck do you survive that? Oh, yeah... miraculous healing Island I guess..
yeah, is that charlie's guitar?
Twinkle - definitely on the Lamp Post.
I doubt she hit the rock. She's soaked, she must have fallen in the water first.
Loved the new bit about the island is *always moving* and that's why they didn't get rescued.
What a creepy story lady.
You people are playing some kind of game, and we're just the pieces.
I was going to say the maybe 815 got caught in a window and wasn't suppose to be on the island. Then I thought about destiny and thought maybe I was wrong. Either way accident or destiny it looks like it went through a window.
Funny how Jack objects to taking an airplane ride that will go over the island when he was trying the exact same thing *randomly* when we first saw him in 2007.
So Desmond and Frank and Ji Yeon shouldn't come since they didn't the first time right? But they should take Waaaalllltttt!
But shouldn't they take Aaron? I mean, technically he came over on the plane, albeit in utero but still...
Is that why he's wearing white sneekers on the island?
Skate=Scary Kate.
Oh-oh. Is Ben going to kill Penny? Is that the loose end he "promised" his old friend Widmore? Does that get Desmond to go back - to get revenge against Ben?
Yowza!
I'm predicting Sun sent Aaron to Korea to be with Ji Yeon to link in that weird conversation last week and Sun being absent from the church.
But if Ben kills Penny I may quit you LOST. Seriously. He cannot be allowed to do that!
So what do you think she did with Aaron? Did she give him to Claire's mother maybe?
Oh lostit don't say that.
That's a good call on Aaron memphish.
I swear - Kate is irredeemable.
Sun sending him to Korea sounds more probable. Giving him to Claire's mom would be the right thing to do though. So I guess that proves that it's not what she did. Why do the right thing when you can compound the lie further by sending your kid to another country?
OMG he's at a dock...he didn't seriously kill Penny I hope!
I betcha Des got him first. . . he looks injured.
A Penny for your thoughts...
Oooh, I forgot Claire's mom is in LA. I kind of hope that's what she did.
And Jack and Kate continue to keep secrets from one another. I bet Kate tells Sawyer what she did with Aaron.
I don't know. It looks like it was something violent. After all it is revenge.
If Ben killed Penny or Charlie he is dead to me, and the entire show will be on very thin ice.
I'm already a little sick in the back of my throat from Kate throwing herself at Jack.
I never thought about Charlie. Maybe he'll kidnap him for his own.
Hurley's reading Y the Last Man!
I love Hurley.
Arae those 2 people proxys too?
"what's gonna happen to them?" "Who cares?" XD
So no-one thought to ask Ben what happened to him? Not that he'd tell the turth or anything, but...
Hey, maybe it was Sayid that happened to him.
For the love of god, Jack - read that note!
Frank!!
I knew it!!
OMG! Frank!
Wow nice Kate. Got to his place, sleep with him, tell give him the cold shoulder and tell him they're not together. Typical.
Jack, you're SUPPOSED to read that note! The island wants you to!
I guess it will be at the end when we find out what Ben did.
I miss Frank's mustache.
Who wants to bet that Charlie told Hurley to go back? And to bring his guitar case?
If so, I hope they show it - Charlie's sucking points from my fantasy team! ;)
So has Sayid been arrested for murder in the Seychelles? You might get there via Guam. I like how he's taken over Kate's role handcuffs and all. If I were that Marshall I'd watch out for debris in the crash.
But what about Walt? Why hasn't anyone mentioned him even?
I love that Hurley is reading Y, and what's more in Spanish like the comic book before.
Frank was pretty cool about it wasn't he? "we're not going to Guam, are we?"
I miss scruffy Frank too.
I was thinking Charlie told Hurley to come back.
I'm glad I finally understand - Kate's dysexic - she's got this whole 'together' concept completely mixed up and backward.
Hurley was reading volume 3 of Y, in which a space ship crashes to earth.
Maybe Kate just wants to see Sawyer again and that's why she's going back.
READ IT!!!!!
Then why'd she jump in bed with Jack. . . if she's going back back because she misses Sawyer. grrrr
WHAT?!
I thought so!!
Ok this is getting way to werid. But I like it. And next week looks good.
Next week looks like going backwards. I want to go forward from Dharma days.
lost2010 said "Then why'd she jump in bed with Jack. . . if she's going back back because she misses Sawyer"
Cuz that's what she does. She hooked up with Jack because he was there.
That was one of my favorite episodes of the entire series. I cannot wait to see what happens next and frankly don't care about Locke's story at this point except that it looks like we'll see at least a little more post-Island re-arrival.
Was Ben in the bathroom when the plane started quaking a la Charlie?
OK, so the last flash when Locke turned the wheel brought them all to DI days and that last flash also "captured" the O6 off the plane. That must have been the event window. But that doesn't line up timewise, so maybe it was a different flash? but then again, time on the island is different. Ugh, My head hurts.
I wonder what happend to the others? Where are they? What about Frank? If he's on the island, too, what happened to the plane if the pilot's gone?
So, do you think that the plane flew into the radius so that the time flashes could grab the O6 off the plane?
I think the Ajira plane crashed in 2008. But that the O6 (at least part of them) got caught in a time flash and jerked off of it.
I wonder what job they gave Jin.
Maybe JIN POLICEMAN.
I wonder if the outriggers are from the survivors of the plane crash in 2008. Maybe the one shooting at the LBs was the marshall looking for Sayid.
Or maybe it was Ben.
OMG, I loved this episode!!!!
Was thinking Ben wrote the 'Locke suicide note' to Jack.. do you think?
And I think it would be cool if Kate took Aaron to Cassidy because that would be a way for Kate to discover it was her who led to Sawyer being in jail.. (but, it makes more sense Aaron is with Claire's mom or Sun's mom I guess)
I think the event window opened up during the time of the D.I. they were sent back to that time. I guess that's how we'll see the rest of Danielle's story and maybe Charlotte's and Dan's.
The LBers were in a time before the D.I. but they joined the D.I. when the came to the island? Maybe?
I like that idea that some of the 316ers (crap another group) might be in DI Days and others in the present (relatively speaking). It certainly makes more sense that people other than the O6, but from Ajira were shooting at the LBs, though where did those outriggers come from?
The highlight to me was that Hurley thought to buy up the 78 remaining seats to keep those people from possibly crashing with them. Hurley is the only decent person in that entire group.
Agree Lost2010. That was awesome.
I'm confused about the DI on the Island... old DI? Ben's going to see himself? Or, is it a new future reconstituted DI.. nevermind (just thinking about the ARG)
There's no way I believe Jack and Kate just fall onto the Island (Kate on ROCKS) and there are no injuries!! I want to know what happened during the flash!!!!!!
I like the cleaned up Frank... reminds me of when he was on a soap
Yes, Lost2010.. I agree about Hurley!
Black Swan
It could be a re constituted D.I. I could go with that.
And about the Island constantly moving.... huh??
You think it's possible, sayid'sgirl? Do they make those VW busses anymore? LOL!
Didn't someone here theorize that the island was constantly moving a long time ago - like the alcatraz myth? I can't remeber who it was.
Well I guess Blue Heron and I were both right. The island is physically moving and there are windows/portals to get back.
lostit
I think the alcatraz theory might have been 2costa but I'm not sure.
I hope that running into Jin means that we're going to see a Jin/Sun reunion sooner than later.
So wouldn't someone somewhere on a different Island maybe notice that there's a new Island across the water when they look out their window? lol!
108 please!!!!!!
I think it's old DI because we already saw Daniel and Sawyer in DI flashbacks. It fits with Charlotte saying that Daniel wanred her not to go back to the island. It's starting to pull together now. This is going to get interesting.
I don't think Ben will run into himself. I think if anything he crashed with the plane in present day. I don't think he flashed into old DI time.
Black Swan
Oh yeah the Dharma vans. It looks pretty new too.
Didn't I tell you the Dharma van was an Ajira shuttle bus. lol
Maybe Jin's a shuttle driver like me!
I thought it was odd they were all flying in First Class given that none of them flew there last time and they were supposed to be replicating things.
Lostit, so you think Ben crashed at a different time than the O6?
So that's why Ji Yeon and Aaron don't have to go back - they weren't on the original crash. That'd explain Desmond too.
I think Kate's hook up with Jack was good-bye sex because she was going back for Sawyer.
I can't wait for the pop-ups next week. I bet they put all sorts of parallels in the airport and airplane scenese.
I love that Hurley bought the other seats too! So Hurley!
So they're back in DI time? How long until the purge?
sayid'sgirl, yeah... loved the pic of the Dharma van Ajira shuttle bus!!
Jin had a star on his badge... all I'm saying..
I suppose they are there to make the purge NOT happen this time? (like what Chang wanted per/ comic-con video?)
Well, I'm about to fall asleep. Good night, all!
Yes, some a long time ago -- perhaps during season 3? -- posted the Alcatraz theory of a volcanic plug as a floating island. I finally found the website thta they posted in my favorites, I'll find it and post it. Pretty odd thing.
Here's a picture I made awhile back and posted on myspace.
Ajira Shuttlebus
And I suppose Locke will be come the Jacob spokesman like Christian? At least that would be consistent but the preview didn't look that way.
I wonder if they'll meet Radzinsky.
I'm torn between Desmond beating up Ben and Ms. Hawking & Co. going after him.. I thought it was funny how she talked about Ben.
But if DI closely controlled their recruits - they knew exactly who was coming and going and when - why would they give jobs to anybody who showed up on the island without permission? Especially if they were in a war with the Others? A group of even several hundred would pretty much know everyone by face at least. How could our Losties just incorporate themselves into that?
That's a great question Twinkle
BS, I don't think the island will allow Ben to go back to DI time. Wasn't that the rule - that if you turn the wheel you can't go back?
I don't konw know where the outriggers came from though. Maybe Ben had them stashed somewhere else on the island. After all he always has a plan.
I think it might have been Widmore's people. And there had to be one person who showed up late to the plane, right?
I want to see Radzinsky!
Jin might not be a real D.I. He could be an Other from immediately after the purge even - Juliet could have taught them the secret handshake and language and gotten them in, I guess.
RE: Outriggers - Or some natives looked out their windows one day and said, "Oy! There's an island over there now!" and then went over to check it out. They coulda pick up the water bottles from anywhere. And they had guns, right? So it was present century and not ancient past?
Lostit, so you're saying if you turned the wheel you can't go back in TIME not that you can't go back PHYSICALLY?
When I saw Kate and Jack having sex I thought that it was so that Kate would be pregnant since Claire was pregnant the first time on the plane.
Good question, Twinkle. I hope they come up with a good story for that.
Just not a fan of the island jumping to random locations and times. when will it land.......on LAND????
Or better yet, in the middel of Lake Erie???
ugh.
peace, love and purgatory
Oooh, Megsy, that's a good thought!
Yeah, Lostit, they'd better have a *good* story. Of course if they convinced Peter Chang who they really were that might explain it.
hmm, the Others were keen on stealing whatever they could from whoever tried to mess with their Island (like in Jughead)
I like that, Lostit.. yeah, Juliet taught them the handshake.. lol! It would be harder to teach them Latin (especially Jin.. poor guy has too many languages coming at him already)
Chucklez!?
So, they almost doubled up the original roles - we still took back:
A drug addict - Jack not Charlie
A prisoner - Sayid not Kate
Possibly a pregnant girl - Kate not Claire
A con man - Ben not Sawyer
A dead man- Locke not Christian
A wife who is separated from her husband - Sun not Rose
Any other paralells?
It'd be a kind of justice though if Ben was thrown back into DI times and was stuck there.
Oohh, I hadn't thought of that Megsy! Good idea!
BS, I'm not sure. I thought he meant physically at the time, but why would he bother getting on the plane if he didn't think he was going to get back to the island somehow? Maybe he didn't know that the O6 would "flash" off the plane to a different time? I don't really have a well-thought-out theory - just thinking out loud.
oh and by the way.......my theory from the end of the first season, that flight 815 is looking very plausible now, huh????
the only reason the plane CRASHED, was because the electromagnetic anomole "shot out" and ripped it in half.
that's why the others weren't shocked about the plane, but instead were concerned with survivors, etc.
peace, love and purgatory
yes, Sayid's girl?
peace, love and purgatory
excellent, Lost2010!!!
And yes, twinkle!! Pierre Chang will recognize Faraday and we're all guessing Miles is his son, too.... reunion coming up?
Interesting Megsy!
Here's that article about Alcatraz, FWIW: http://www.faller-mitchell.com/alcatraz.htm
This talk of a pregnant Kate is upsetting my stomach.
Do we think we'll see Ray again or was he only there for the shoes?
Those are good, Lost 2010. You saw more than I did.
Ben was late like Hurley the first time. Hurley was the one with the musical instrument. Hurley and his case ended up in the pond like Kate's briefcase ended up there last time.
And Jack in a suit saving everyone...again. Who this time will be healed? Locke again?
Jack's tie was even very similar. Not the same, but close.
And especially good call on Sun = Rose because Sun has Jin's ring like Rose had Bernard's.
I'm guessing meeting yourself on the timeline would result in a massive nosebleed. Remember Chang, "Keep those rabbits away from each other!!!"
I don't like the island physically moving either. But it makes sense with what Ben said about God not being able to find it. And the drug plane and the Black Rock.
I guess we have to accept it.
Hey Chucklez, instead of purgetory will you accept "Astral Plane"?
I just hope it's not such a close paralell that the con man killed someone out of revenge the night before the flight.
I hope Des got her out of there - for little Charlie's sake.
Lapidus was supposed to the be pilot of 815 and he was actually the pilot of 316.
Also, if it's ok to talk about the preview, Locke is shown in a decidedly "Christ on the cross" type pose. Anybody else notice?
And the flight/episode is 316 as in John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
Am I reaching here or is this an obvious inference?
Maybe I was wrong about Ben and he is with the O6 in DI time and he's the one who will be healed.
"Dude!" about the con man killing someone the night before!
Maybe he'll become Annie or Charlotte's daddy?
I don't have a problem with "astral projection". I'd rather deal with THAT than time travel / shifting.
However, I STILL believe that when you're dead and you're not allowed to "move on", it's referred to as Purgatory.
And not saying (never did) that the show IS about Purgatory, just that Purgatory plays a significant part.
;)
peace, love and purgatory
I like the 3:16 connection. It ties in nicely to the doubting Thomas story they told tonight and the preview for next week, too.
What about the federal agent Sayid is with? Did she look a little like Ana Lucia on purpose?
So the female marshal = both the Marshall and Ana Lucia sort of rolled up in one, maybe?
Can't be purgatory. They already told us "This place is death."
;-)
Oh, wow.. yeah.. the con-man killing someone (the wrong someone) the night before...
So, the Island wouldn't let Kate become pregnant before because it wasn't her time?
what about the guy that gave "condolences" to Jack? he was on the plane, too.
I also like the role reversal with Jack, man of science, taking the leap of faith.
Anybody watch House? The House this week also had a similar science vs faith theme, better than it usually does.
Twinkle: you cannot have purgatory without death.
and the "purgatory state" happens AFTER dying.
and seeing as how the island is "neither HERE nor THERE" in reference to time and space.......why not?
peace, love and purgatory
BTW I'm rewatching and the picture of the island on Ms Hawking's blackboard says 9/23/54 - U.S. Army - OP 264 (it might be 284)- Top Secret - Eyes.... you don't see the rest of the last word. If it isn't Eyes.
Did someone give him condolences the first time too?
And Hurley being on the plane - Charlie telling him is a great possibility. Any other ideas?
And how did Sayid get caught? What's he in custody for? Did they say?
could the island be a representation of "the guff"??
that which holds souls? (correct me if i'm wrong in the use here)
I know, Chucklez. I'm teasing. Very purgatory-like indeed.
That's cool Chucklez... some ancient religions and philosophies call it different things. And science used to be more metaphysical than now making it less opposite to faith and more complimentary... just saying because not only do we have the hieroglyphics all over the place (and temple, four-toe statue, etc..), but also the pop-ups even said ancient referring to "ancient chamber that houses the wheel"
Charlie telling him would work. Or maybe Abadon? Didn't he want to take Hurley "someplace safe" before? Or was he trying to keep Ben from finding him so that they couldn't go back?
I agree BS. I'm a huge fan of integrating religion with science. in the RIGHT way, of course.
Now, I'm going to end up rewatching the S1 finale to see if anybody offered Jack condolences. . .
What if the island's "healing" properties aren't what they appear to be? For instance we've theorized about nano-tech being the method by which the island heals but TPTB have repeatedly said no nano-tech is involved with the island.
Soo... what if the island apparent healing properties are the result of time manipulation? It chooses a place along the timeline, or an individual's body chooses a place, as an equilibrium point. Then if the body gets damaged, the island simply reverts the body back to the equilibrium point? I'm thinking kind of like a system restore on a computer(which I almost had to do today!) That's a neat way to explain a resurrection. Problems would arise if someone lost their equilibrium point (Desmond and Faraday) but the point could be restored through the "constant."
Current physicists are contemplating if the progression of past, present, and future is really all an illusion, but in reality all moments in time are present concurrently. Maybe the island's power comes from tapping that potential? That would explain Horace, healings, the consciousnesses of the dead being accessible, and maybe other phenomena we've noticed.
okay......off to the bedroom for me. goodnight all.
keep these things in mind.
1. four-toed statue (Darwinism??)
2. the equations were put together by Tommy Mittelwerk??? hahaha....Alavar??
3. What the heck is Smokey???? (besides "protector of the temple")
peace, love and purgatory
Hey, one more question before I go. . .
did they say Jack's granddad's name ever?
Smokey seems able to read the past, present, and maybe future of the individual. If the island's qualities are due to being able to tap all points in time, I'd say Smokey is related to that.
or the island doesn't heal.
the passengers really ARE at the bottom of the ocean and their spirits are shifting with the island (in a purgatory-like state).
Which is why we have all the supernatural things. And smokey is the harbinger of death or angel of death or something from Hades in general.
just thoughts.
Lostpedia says it's "Ray."
Cerberus
I think the people are there in body form except for a few exceptions. Otherwise they get all bloody for nothing. But who says Purgatory has to be only spiritual and not physical?
I forgot about Abaddon! He's Widmore's stooge. Would Widmore want the 06 to go back?
that's true too twinkle.
but think of this......ever see the movie, "frighteners" with michael j. fox??
spirits can receive "harm" from other spiritual things, etc.
it's all representative. why do you think it's said that if you die and go to Hell, you spirit (soul) will be tortured eternally????
True. If we're sticking to the ideas of heaven and hell in the Bible, which are vague anyway with no mention of purgatory at all, then most of the evidence points to a physical resurrection of all people after which people will go, in their bodies, to some form of heaven or eternal torment. Time Magazine did an article on this recently too.
Chucklez, I don't know what you mean about the RIGHT way, exactly..
The ancient Aborigine's speak of the "all at once time". I was reading about that while researching 'black swan' and it's fascinating (I should write a blog.. keep putting that off because it's complicated). There are those ancient teachings, also Buddhism, and of course, Christianity and more all tied up in LOST. It could be they want to make sure it's not just one religion being talked about for fairness sake and also because of the basic principals being similar (same with the ancient religions/phylosophies).
(and I think they're all dead, too)
It looks like everything from the Ajira booking requirements has been reflected in the show. This leads me to believe that the 10 people that needed to be booked are all essential to the future story.
Maybe...
1) Jack
2) Kate
3) Sayid
4) Hurley
5) Sun
6) Ben
7) New Guy (condolences guy)
8) Female marshall
9) Locke
10)either Frank or "Charlie"
(Haven't seen Frighteners BTW)
wow definitely have my attention now...
hey Chucklez! good to see you again dude
so weird seeing everyone role swapping...Sayid as the fugitive in custody, Ben as the latecomer, and then in the lavatory during the crash, etc...
Jin Policeman? too funny!!!!
more in the morning!
oh and if it's in "Time", it MUST be "Gospel". hahahahaha. kidding.
but in either sense, i'm mixing the relious and scientific theories of afterlife, etc. not just christianity, but ALL religions (mythology too), etc.
but i like where your head's at.
Hawking knowing what flight to put them on reminded me of Claire's psychic telling her what flight to get on.
lost2010
If you're still out there. I think Ana gave Jack condolences in the airport bar. Eventualy.
and when I saw tonight's episode it really is fitting in ... amazing!
Cool about the aboriginal "all at once time!"
I just find it interesting that the common thought is that Christianity teaches we'll all be spirits after we die, but the Bible really teaches (as much as it's clear about anything in the afterlife) that we'll all have physical bodies. That was one point of Jesus' resurrection - to show what the new physical body would be like - and the new body could enter locked rooms, eat, drink, and ascend into the sky...
Wonder if Locke gets a new body with mysterious physical properties?
Oh - the new body could also choose whether or not people would recognize it and disappear suddenly in front of people.
thanks BS. well, talk to you all later.
goodnight.
peace, love and purgatory
Night! I'm signing off too. Say, if they are setting up Locke to be a Christ figure, did they set up someone to be Satan? Ben? Widmore? Who is permanently cast off the island?
Started a rewatch, but won't finish til tomorrow.
1) Was it Valenzetti who came up with the equations to predict the Island's location? Is that actually what the numbers are? Or did DI hire Valenzetti because he was so good with numbers? I'm thinking that transmitting the numbers was a shortcut to getting to the Island like when young Ben arrived on the submarine. Then after Danielle changed the transmission it wasn't as easy to find. And all of this leads me to wonder when Hawking/Ben/Widmore found this Lamppost and why Widmore didn't use it (or did he) to locate the Island in the first place. And I still want to know how the Others like Tom, Ben, Alpert, Ethan and Juliet got to and from the Island.
2) Hawking tells Jack that if all of them don't go the results will be unpredictable. Well given that most of them that survived the plane crash are a) dead or b) still on the Island doesn't that make it per se unpredictable. Plus they've left at least Walt behind. Maybe that will explain why some people are in one place/time and others in other place/times.
I can't wait to watch it again tomorrow, but for now I must sleep.
G'night! Lots to think about it. Can't wait till next week.
And if Ben got his revenge killing a la Sawyer, does that mean he killed the wrong person like Sawyer did? Was there a cleaning lady on the boat he mistook for Penny? And how did they sail a boat that fast from London to LA. That's got to take weeks in a boat that size. Maybe it wasn't even Desmond's boat, but he was visiting a mate. Yeah, that's what I'm going to believe until told otherwise.
Night all! Hope you West Coasters enjoy!
Speaking of boats. When Sun was holding a gun on Ben there was a small boat docked called Illusion.
It probably doesn't mean anything, I just noticed it.
Locke had alot of stubble on his face when jack opened the coffin.
Wasn't he smooth faced before?
Okay, just got done and read your wonderful observations. Here's mine:
1. Why, oh why, doesn't anyone say to Ben: "What happened to you?" He better have not offed Penny like he promised Widmore!
2. Memphish: I totally first thought of Valenzetti doing those equations that Hawking talked about. Could it have been Faraday or maybe the DeGroots?
3. I like scruffy Frank better! LOL
4. Who told Hurley to show up at the airport and probably filled him in on what was going to happen....most likely Charlie (who also tells him to bring guitar case...which BTW saves him in the lagoon.)
5. Well, we were all booked on that Guam flight!
6. Of all things that Jack brings to put on Locke...black shoes which is opposite of white tennis shoes. Does explain why his father was wearing tennis shoes with a suit. First we heard of Grandpa Ray who happened to mention a magic show (complete with bunnies)!
7. So Jack must take a Leap of Faith from the Man of Science.
8. My first thought was that Kate gave Aaron to Claire's mother. I don't know how she would send a young child all the way to Korea to meet up with Ji Yeon. But why wasn't Aaron on the plane...he was on it originally, sort of. And, I agree with most of you: Why wasn't Walt there, too?
9. How sweet is Hurley to buy 78 seats? But who is that guy supposed to be (the condolences guy) who is sitting in First Class with our group?
10. That is definitely a new Dharma van and Jin is wearing fresh Dharma overalls. And he does not seem to recognize them either.
11. And I'm with most of you, confused as to who where in those outriggers!
wow oh wow oh wow!!!
I know hardly anyone is here now and I haven't read any of the comments, but I'm just going to post what I took note of- so forgive me if I'm repeating:
1.Why did Ben go back?! Didn't anyone think to tell him that he wasn't part of the first equation, so why is he part of it now? No one actually told him to go back, guess they were going on the assumption that Mrs. Hawkings seemed ok with it.
2. How will Ben's presence on the flight change things?
3. What the heck happened to Ben? Who beat him up? You'd think if it had been Widmore that he would have killed Ben.
4. Why does Jack trust and confide in Ben?! Where does this come from? It's one thing to agree to go back, but all of a sudden Jack is looking to Ben like he's a friend.
5. Was there really no one who put together that all of the O6 were going somewhere on the same flight? They had to buy tickets and Hurley even mentioned that he was O6 when he bought the 78 seats. No whistle blowers on that one?
I thought the parallels to the Oceanic 815 were awesome: Sayid is the prisoner this time (like Kate), with a hispanic looking police officer escort (Ana Lucia); Hurley carrying the guitar; Ben showing up just as they were about to close the doors (like Hurley did); Jack having a lengthy discussion with the airline rep regarding taking a coffin on the plane, maybe there are more. I do think someone gave their condolences to Jack in the pilot epi- but not sure.
Loved the fact that Lapidus was the pilot since he was supposed to be flying flt 815. Plus it was just good to see Frank again.
If Ben was right- Jack was feeling guilty about the death of Locke, just like he was feeling guilty about his dad's death in the pilot.
And, I guess we might assume the LBer's got caught in the 70's and somehow became part of the Dharma Initiative. So now they're all in the 70's. There's a lot to chew on in that case.
The only other thing that occurred to me- and it was while watching the enhanced epi as well as "316"- was that it's like Ben is usurping Locke's place in everything. Turning the FDW, leaving the island, coming back, etc. Ben seems to be inserting himself into the places Locke is supposed to be. Which made me think about Jacob and Esau in the Bible- where Jacob was the deceiver and usurper- I know we've touched on those themes before.
Ok funny things:
1. Ben praying. That just struck me silly.
2. I had a hard time listening to Desmond because I kept thinking he was going to walk into that stupid pendulum about half a dozen times.
3. I'm beginning to understand why Jack has a drinking problem- I think I would too at this point. I sure as heck would've been drinking on that flight!
Oh - couple more questions- what happened to Kate and Aaron?!! And did no one tell these people they were not ever coming back because Sun pretty much left Ji Yeon for good it would seem.
Ok no more rambling. At least I'll be able to sleep now. ;)
