There's No Place Like Home (Part 1) - Season 4, Episode 12

Face-offs, Flash-Forwards, and Fakers...Oh my! With the Wizard of Oz reference in the title, I can't help but post my favorite producer quote (see below) and fan theory for your mind-numbing enjoyment as you hash and rehash the upcoming episode.

"What's great about those worlds [Narnia, Oz, and Wonderland] is they're all worlds on the other side of Earth. That is to say they're not fantasy realms like in Star Wars. Narnia is actually connected to the world that we know and so is Oz, as is Wonderland... as is our island."

rats! Third.

Yeah, I wonder what happened to Dave and Goog's preshow? I thought the first one went well....

Is this the week of Goog's wedding? Maybe Dave is swamped with brother-of-the-bride duties.

happy finale, see you all later!

Thanks Dennis, nice post! :-) Ladies and gents, start your brain engines!

Enjoy the HD Codysmom! But be warned; it will ruin you for normal TV.

Happy Lost night, everyone! Almost time....

Darkaardvark said...

Checking in. Hey everyone.

Darkaardvark said...

I'm reminded of the crew in Sphere- the novel, I never saw the movie- at the end. They seem very disconnected.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Looks like fysb wins the prize - Oceanic 6 return home in the first scene!

Olerica said...

Holy! Nice opener!

Melissa_Lossa said...

Hmmm.... does Daniel suddenly have the answers?

memphish said...

So I'm already crying.

memphish said...

Yes, ML, how does Daniel know about the Orchid and the locked up 2ndary protocol? Time travel?

LostIt said...

So Dan knows about the secondary protocol. He looks really scared.

Codysmom said...

Yep, HD is something else.... I'm spoiled now...

DeDJeZTeR said...

Poor Sayid and Kate have no one to come home to, and isn't Hurley adorable... Mom Dad this is my friend the Iraqi war soldier... lol

Melissa_Lossa said...

I wonder how Dan knows something that not even the captain and Keamy knew?

Codysmom said...

It says space like factors on Dan's notes

Melissa_Lossa said...

When do they find out "the story"? Before they leave the island or after?

Sayid'sgirl said...

Does Dan know about the secondary protocol because he time traveled?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Sawyer called the barracks New Otherton!! LOL

Darkaardvark said...

Membata- the ONLY NAME we've EVER been given for the island- and it's likely to be a lie.

This is a theory of mine, I'll try to expand on it later.

Darkaardvark said...

Heh, the music playing when Sayid comes in on the boat is the theme from last season's finale.

memphish said...

So they're in the Indian, not the Pacific Ocean, near the freckage. WTH?

If Jack gets Sawyer killed, which based on his flash I don't think he will, I'm going to kill Jack.

Darkaardvark said...

To clarify what I meant about naming the island: No character has ever mentioned a name for the island, not when the Losties have had a chance to talk to the Others, not in a Dharma video, not printed anywhere...Sawyer never even gave it a nickname.

I find this highly unusual. To me, it means one of two things:

1. There's something significant about the fact that no name seems to 'stick' to the island.

2. The name given to the island, either by the Others, DHARMA, whatever, is something that reveals a significant amount about the island, and so TPTB are waiting to reveal it.

My money's on #2, and my guess is that the names the Oceanic threw out mean nothing.

LostIt said...

I liked Sawyer's "You don't get to die alone" comment.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I wonder why they claim that eight people made it to the island, but only six survived.

memphish said...

I still think that the Freighter is going to put them on Island #2 in the Zodiac and Desmond and Michael get back to the real world.

LostIt said...

I don't think the island has a name. It's not an ordinary island and it's not on any map. It's THE island.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Do you think Widmore has the rest of the losties as prisoner/hostages?

Darkaardvark said...

So if Jin is on the boat with Sun, that means the probability is higher that he's dead than on the island in the future?

Sayid'sgirl said...

You go Sun!!!

DeDJeZTeR said...

Does
YOU GO GIRRRRRL!!!!!
Even begin to do that scene justice... lol

Who is the other person???

LostIt said...

Damn! I was hoping Jin stayed behind on the island. It's looking more likely that he's going to die.

Who else was on that boat besides Sun, Jin, and Aaron?

Darkaardvark said...

Lostit: "I don't think the island has a name. It's not an ordinary island and it's not on any map. It's THE island."

You think DHARMA discovered the island, founded research facilities, worked for years there, and never gave it a name?

Or if they didn't, then that's significant too, I think.

memphish said...

I've got a bad feeling about Jin now! 2 people are responsible for his death, and so far we've only seen 1.

And how do the O6 become the O6 when there are other people on the Freighter, but Sun and Aaron are on the Freighter?

pgtbeauregard said...

Sayid's girl,

I shouted that out to my tv!!

Darkaardvark said...

@ded:

The other person? You mean the 8th of the eight that 'survived' the crash, assuming that Jin is number 7? Because that's a really good question (and I've got no idea).

memphish said...

Sun, Jin, Aaron, Daniel and 3 redshirts right?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Yeah, Jin being on that boat makes me a little afraid. There's a couple of red shirts on that boat as well, and they obviously don't make it.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I know everytime Sayid thinks with his heart I say this, but I think letting Dan ferry the Losties may be where he thinks with his heart instead of his gun.

memphish said...

Jin is not #7 according to Sun. TPTB have said people 7 and 8 are not important. Just part of the cover story.

Codysmom said...

That's what I was wondering... who's the other person (Sun says is responsible for Jin's death)..

I'm still holding out that Jin is alive

Melissa_Lossa said...

dark - Sun said that dark was not #7 - she said he never made it off the plane.

LostIt said...

Quote of the day! "Jesus Christ is not a weapon!"

Darkaardvark said...

Right. My bad. I've been missing out on the official podcasts lately.

DeDJeZTeR said...

The numbers on the odometer was just screwed up cool.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I get that it doesn't matter who the Oceanic #7 and #8 are, but why invent them to begin with? Just so it doesn't seem suspicious that everyone who made it off the plane survived?

LostIt said...

I think I freaked out as much as Hurley did when I saw those numbers! Wow, Hurley can run!

Ange said...

They do like their white rabbit feet in this episode huh. :D

DeDJeZTeR said...

Lostit,

I fully agree with the Island has no name and the wuote of the day... I just wish the believers understood that...

LostIt said...

I'm thinking Desmond is probably going to be one of the #7 and #8. I hope not, I really don't want Desmond to die.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I don't remember who called it but the numbers did show up just not on the plane.

DeDJeZTeR said...

Claires Mom is alive and kickin.... this is how he finds out... Never saw that coming.

WTF????

Melissa_Lossa said...

How did Claire's mom wake up from her coma? That was crazy!

LostIt said...

I wonder if the reason Jack didn't want to see Aaron is that he felt guilty about not telling Claire's mom about Aaron being her grandson.

Codysmom said...

Wow, how's she alive?

takes a village said...

Ben and his plans.

DeDJeZTeR said...

The return of the Others,
Ben gives himself up?
If Keamy dies the Freighter explodes.

Sun is going to go back to the island and the freighter is going to explode, and that is how Jin, Michael, and Desmond all DIE...j/k

But it could happen.

No it couldn't.

Yes it could... lol

LostIt said...

The way Sun looked back at the door on the freighter, I wonder if those explosives are gonna blow and take out Desmond, Jin, and Michael.

Ellen said...

wow, that was a LOT of C4 on that boat!...
Can't wait to see what happens when John tries to move the island!
xxoo

LostIt said...

But Desmond can't die! I won't allow it!

Melissa_Lossa said...

If they kill off Jin and Des is one swoop, I think they are going to have some VERY angry Lost ladies!

Sayid'sgirl said...

I'll be one of them melissa.

LostIt said...

Any idea where the others were taking Kate and Sayid? The temple? The orchid? Back to the beach? Someplace else entirely?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Who wants to bet that Ben's little mirror signal meant "meet me at the Orchid - bring LOTS of guns"?

Codysmom said...

DeDJeZTeR said...

The return of the Others,

If Keamy dies the Freighter explodes

good call

Sayid'sgirl said...

I'm thinking Richard is taking them to the Temple.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Me too, sayid's girl!

Not just for my own viewing pleasure, but for the sake of happy endings, as well!

Sayid'sgirl said...

Who else thought Keamy's gun was going to misfire again?

Codysmom said...

Melissa_Lossa said...

Who wants to bet that Ben's little mirror signal meant "meet me at the Orchid - bring LOTS of guns"?

I think you're right about this

DeDJeZTeR said...

Melissalossa,

I will be one of them too.... wait I'm not a ladie.... anyway... lol

And yes bring lots of guns, and don't let any Losties ruin things... lol

Codysmom said...

Hurley doesn't want his money, but I do... to go out and buy all hd tv's for everybody!!!!

Sayid'sgirl said...

After Sayid Desmond is my favorite character. The rest are pretty much equal except for Jack and Locke who tie for last. I guess I should throw Ben in the last catagory too. If they were killed off it wouldn't much matter to me. But it would make for a pretty dull show if they did.

Melissa_Lossa said...

how was it, codysmom? :)

Des is definitely my favorite character, and I'm going to be mad if he gets blown to pieces!

Anyone else have a bad feeling that the freighter's going to explode at the end of the finale and we're going to be stuck wondering about everyone's fate all summer/fall?

No... at least, I didn't until just now. Thanks for jinxing us. ^_^;;

DeDJeZTeR said...

So right now, everyone but Sun and the baby are in the same general area, what if they get of the island and find Sun and the baby, with two Red shirts, Desmond and maybe Michael oe Kevin Johnson, niether are technically 815'ers.

This is how it ends up with that six.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Steve - if it makes you feel better, most of my theories are generally wrong. :)

DeDJeZTeR said...

Well cody'smom,

Since the sum total is $156,000,000.00 plus three months interest and the oceanic settlement on top which as Sun said was "SUBSTANTIAL"...

I going with the 103 inch, and make that two...lol

Melissa_Lossa said...

Okay, I'm guessing that everyone convenes at the Orchid. Hurley, Jack, Kate and Sayid get on the chopper with Frank, and Sawyer and Locke choose to stay behind. The only question now is how do they pick up Sun and Aaron? If the freighter blows, they could pull them out of the water, or maybe Sun finds a life raft or something?

If the freighter blows, Daniel could come back and scoop Jin, Des and Michael out of the water in the Zodiac and take them back to the island.

Codysmom said...

lol, ded.... sure, why not?

I can't believe we have to wait 2 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LostIt said...

ML, Thank you for that ray of hope! Let's hope they get back to the island instead of blowing up.

Melissa_Lossa said...

All right, gang - been a LONG day. Figure it all out while I'm gone.

Here's a question: Dan knows how to handle a Zodiac? Discuss.

Good night!

Codysmom said...

Anyone here familiar with Windows Media Center? I've taken a "snapshot" with my remote, but when I go to Paint, there's nothing to paste..

LostIt said...

Wait a minute, the sum total was $156,000,000? Isn't that the amount Hurley won in the lottery?

Codysmom said...

lostit, yep that's the amt of money Hurley doesn't want (but I do) If I can get my hands on it, I'm buying all of us Loco's hd tvs

On Dan's notepad it says: timelike facors and spacelike factors

DeDJeZTeR said...

Yes. Cody'smom said she would take Hurley's money since he didn't want it, and buy everyone HD TVs, hence the running joke

***spoken sarcasticly***

Codysmom said...

On another page of Dan's notebook it says: using Eddington-Finklestein coordinates (v,r) removes the singularity at R = zm. As R gets smaller - light cones tip over.

ok, you mathmeticians.. get cracking

LostIt said...

Oh, I thought someone said that the settlement was $156 million. I thought that would be quite the coincidence.

Capcom said...

Light cones info: "Spacetime is the set of all (possible) events in a universe; it represents the history of an entire universe. [At a black hole] the Light Cones are arranged so that there is region of spacetime where all Light Cones tip over and point inward. The boundary of this region is called the Event Horizon. Once past this boundary, no object can ever escape (since the Light Cones are so tipped-over)."

Maybe anyone left on the island when it moves can never escape again (except for tricksy Ben). That might be why Dan is so upset and urgent.

Codysmom said...

good job, capcom! This is all way over my head....

Capcom said...

Good job with the caps info! I'll work on the rest too.

See this site for a graphic similar to one of Dan's concerning nonrotating, uncharged black holes:

http://www.etsu.edu/physics/plntrm/relat/blackhl.htm

Codysmom said...

So, I take it future Jack (we have to go back!!!!) never can find the island... it would take Daniel - hopefully still on the island - to fix it?

Capcom said...

Oops, and further down that page is some Eddington-Finkelstein data and light cone drawings like Dan's as well. It's a great page.

Capcom said...

Or, if Dan escaped somehow, Jack needs to find Dan to help them get back. I've got this image in my head of little stick people spinning in a tornado right now for some reason. :-(

Codysmom said...

capcom, I went to the link and yes, those look like the cone. In your link it says "future" at the top of the cone and "past" at the bottom part of the cone. WAAAAYYYYY over my head!

Codysmom said...

If Dan loves Charlotte (and he got away but Charlotte was left behind), he will have motivation to find the island, too.

Sayid'sgirl said...

melissa I know you've probably gone to bed but in the promo Sawyer looks to be on the helicopter too. But Frank says they're running out of fuel and they have to go back to the island. Sawyer looks like he's about to kiss Kate. I say he bails out to save fuel so they can get to the boat.

Capcom said...

Codysmom, that is just a drawing to explain how time and space are related, like supply vs. demand on an economics graph for example. Except that time is in the shape of a cone instead of a line, because it expands in all directions, or something like that. If you look at one of the drawings in Hawking's book it's much easier to see it.

That's what it looked like to me too Sayidsgirl. :-( Sawyer's armor is getting so shiny, it will be horrible if he dies. Will that be the 'spectacular' kiss?

Sayid'sgirl said...

Oh and how will they pick up Sayid? I'll have to look again but I don't think he's on the helicopter.

Sayid'sgirl said...

But he was with Kate so he must be. I'm going to have to go look now.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Yep he's on there. I could just see him behind Jack.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I hate to make another post in a row, but I think I'm all alone. :)
Anyway. If Frank has everyone except Sun and Aaron on the helicopter how does he get them and why is Jin left behind? Does he just get off before the boat blows up? And how does the time difference come into play? If at all. Will the boat blow? Frank's going to have to refuel. Will he have enough to get someplace to land? Where does he land if he does? Ahhhh! lol

Capcom said...

I don't know, but I have a very bad feeling about all that C4....and the fact that Ben won't give a rat's turd if Keamy is rigged to set it off if he dies. :-o

Sayid'sgirl said...

I have to agree with you there, capcom.
Well at least we know why Dan was crying at the news report that they found 815. He knows what really happened to them.
I wonder how much he knows and how much he remembers?

Codysmom said...

dammmmmmmmmmm... I forgot to record Kimmel and missed Sawyer!!!!!!! Hope it shows up on youtube or something!

Codysmom said...

Dan forgot he loves Charlotte:)

Sayid'sgirl said...

Oh man that stinks codysmom.
But it probably will show up on youtube. I forgot to record Damon and Carlton's interview and found on there.

Codysmom said...

and Desmond is Dan's constant... but if something happened to Desmond.....

Codysmom said...

Thanks, sayid'sgirl... I hope so!

I'm confused about when Dan was crying and watching tv... that was before he went to the island, right?

Sayid'sgirl said...

Oh that's right codysmom. I forgot about Charlotte.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Yes Dan was crying before he went to the island. But I think he time traveled there before (which may be how he knew Des was his constant)and knew something bad happened but couldn't remember the details.
Also I don't know for sure but I don't think you need a constant to survive. You only need one if you time travel. And I'm wondering if it has to be the same person or thing each time you travel. As long as it's something or someone in both times I think it will work.

Capcom said...

Dan the man...whoodathunk that he'd be on the zodiak rescue team? I think that he just wants to get everyone off before the island jumps in time.

Capcom said...

Well, g'night ladies, I can't wait to start more talk tomorrow!

Hello all! I know some of you have already checked out. I have to say the Dharmasprin and a little rest have catapulted me to almost complete recovery (or maybe just watching LOST got my blood going- LOL).

Wow good observations. Whoever made the comment about Ben signaling the Others to come to the Orchid with guns- I think that may be right. Alpert was looking and acting very studly. ;)

I am as afraid as you all about all that C4, Keamy's fancy arm band, and the fate of Jin and Desmond (poor Michael, no one cares about him). I will cry like a baby if Jin and Des die. No kidding.

I'm too tired tonite to tackle Dan's notebook pages, and sounds like I wouldn't make much sense of it anyway- will have to leave that for greater minds!

I almost laughed when Sawyer told Jack that Hugo was with Ben and Locke- I mean, I was touched by Sawyer of course, but it was sort of like a comedy of errors- well maybe not, but I can't think of the right phrase. You know what I mean. Zoinks!

Well I don't think I'll try and sort any more out tonite. See ya'll tomorrow.

Remember.....
Jesus Christ is NOT a weapon! :P

maven said...

Just finished watching. Not much real WOW factors tonight, but enough to keep us talking for 2 weeks! BBL

maven said...

I know everyone's abandoned me, but I'll just post some thoughts:

1. Like the idea that Ben's signal was to meet us at the Orchid and come armed.

2. They sure set up everything for the next 2 hours.

3. I have a really bad feeling about that C4. That's enough to blow up the whole ship. If Keamy goes, so does the ship. I guess Sun and Aaron make it off the ship. I'm with all of you guys that Jin and Des can't be blown up!!!! How can they do that to Sun and Penny? And us? Most likely we'll see the ship blow and spend all summer and winter trying to figure out who survives.

4. Saw two lucky rabbit's feet used tonight...The pilot of the Coast Guard plane and Hurley's dad hands him the Camaro key's with one.

5. Well, they finally explained the Claire/Jack sibling thing. Thought they handled it well. You can see the beginning of Jack's downward spiral start as he looks at Kate and Aaron. Also, Jack hints he was lying at the eulogy, too. Is that because he truly didn't love his Dad, or that he knows he's on the island?

6. Best lines:
Sawyer: "You don't get to die alone."
Ben to Hurley re the crackers: "You know those are 15 years old!"
Hurley's mom: "Jesus Christ is not a weapon."
Sawyer re Jack's bloody shirt: "Cut yourself shaving?"
Ben: "I always have a plan."

7. Who's the #2 man who's responsible for Jin's "death"? And how much was the Oceanic settlement? Must have been millions for Sun to be able to gain controlling interest in Paik Industries (according to hubby).

8. Miss Decker (Oceanic spokeswoman) says they reached Membata on Day 108.

9. So Dan knows about the Secondary Protocol and the Orchid station. And he has notes about it in his journal. Widmore must have filled him in or else he's been there before.

10. Did you notice Ben handed his special baton (that he used in the Tunisian desert) for Locke to hold before he "gave himself up" to Keamy?

maven said...

Interesting that the license plate on Hurley's Camaro was 429 PCE. Could PCE be an omen for Charlie PACE?

bigdog said...

good morning,

good comments last night. Congrats on the HD codysmom, your willl never go back.

1. the numbers in hurleys car - cool. the big man can run when motivated.

2. watching richard pull the others have you surrounded move is still fun to watch. at least the crew has gotten better at spotting it.

3. is it possible that richard is the one that gets them off the island. its obvious he has a set of keys that gets him on and off the island alot.

4. laughed out loud when ben told hurley those crackers have been there for 15 years.

5. when i saw all that c-4 all i could think was its been a long time since locke blew up something so watch out.

6. what a tough way for jack to find out about claire. that was the first time in a long time i felt sorry for him.

lastly sawyer is without a doubt my favorite character.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I try to stay up to see what you have to say but it seems I crash each week right before you get on.
For me there hasn't been any WOW in the past few episodes. Not that they haven't been good though.

I noticed the rabbits feet too. Especially the one on Hurley's key chain because it reminded me of Roger's keychain to the VW bus.

The only number 2 man that killed Jin that I can think of is either Michael or Keamy.

They landed in Sumba on day 108 after using a raft from the fishing boat wreckage on day 103.

Yeah I noticed that he gave his baton to Locke I found that interesting. I guess he carries that thing everywhere he goes.

memphish said...

Good Morning LoCos! What a fun, emotional episode last night.

Of course the biggest mystery right now is how the O6 get into 1 place to be rescued. I'm still holding out hope that the Freighter doesn't blow. I'd guess at this point that Daniel gets back to the Freighter and takes Sun, Aaron and the 3 redshirts off the boat and back to the Island. Maybe Daniel even stays on the Freighter with Desmond, Michael and Jin to try to unhook the explosives.

I do feel at this point that Jin is going to die, but I HATE that idea. I don't see them killing Desmond though. I can't figure out how all that is going to work, but hey, that's why I watch! I read on another board that they think the 2nd person responsible for Jin's death is Sun herself. I could see her thinking that when she says that to her dad.

I really like how they had Claire's mom be the one to tell Jack about Claire. Though her timing was a bit awkward. Frankly he should have reacted even more strongly even if he hadn't met Claire. But there was 1 thing in that scene I didn't understand. Did Jack say he'd been waiting to give that eulogy for 10 months? Had he been planning it the 6 months he hadn't spoken to his dad before leaving for Australia? The rest of the episode seemed to indicate they'd only been missing 108 days.

And how the heck did they get to the Indian Ocean? You don't leave Sydney heading for Los Angeles and end up near Indonesia! Maybe that's why the Oceanic settlement is so large.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Oh and I didn't notice the license plate on Hurley's car. But that's a good thought about it being a trubute to Charlie. But his dad would have had to known about him.
Maybe it was the island that did it along with the numbers on the odometer.

Sayid'sgirl said...

memphish
I wondered about the 10 months too. That would make it somewhere near July. Did he wait that long for a memorial?
And shouldn't Aaron be at least a couple of weeks older? Athough that is eaiser to explain.

I expected them to say they were in the Indian Ocean since that is where they said the plane went down.

memphish said...

So how are Sawyer and Jack going to find the Orchid? Did Keamy leave directions with Frank? We know neither of them can track, but then again, Sawyer has improved in that area.

Oh, and nice Jack "Son of a bitch" last night. The reversal, as J. Wood would say, has begun.

memphish said...

But how are they actually going to get to the Indian Ocean Sayid's Girl? Or is Oceanic and the Coast Guard lying about that? If it's just our 6 in a Zodiac they can't get from somewhere near Fiji to Indonesia. Those things hold very little gas. Unless they do it after the Island moves.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I didn't say it was logical, just that I expected it. :)

memphish said...

For those who missed it here's Josh Holloway on Kimmel. I haven't watched it yet. Gotta get the kid to school first.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Oh and my math's not very good Aaron would be around five weeks.

kristy said...

Hi everyone - haven't posted in a long time, but I still keep up...

1. Did you see that look that Sawyer gave Kate when he met her and Jack in the jungle? It seemed to me he said so much with just that look.

2. My notes have a lot of exclamation points! For instance, just before Hurley discovers the surprise party, I wrote "Holy crap! A coconut! And whispers!"

3. Understatement of the year: Ben to Locke "I wasn't being entirely truthful."

memphish said...

Check out this photo that Ack Attack made yesterday.

memphish said...

I haven't seen anyone mention this yet. I think Sun came up with that money by embezzling it from her father. The conversation Mr. Paik is having before Sun enters I think has to do with embezzlement. They say that they moved it through 5 banks, and are trying to trace it. And maybe Ben is even the one helping her do it.

I don't think she embezzeled it. I think she did exactly what she said she used her settlement to buy controlling interest of his company.
I think she did it by using 5 different banks so the money trial would be hard to follow and it would make it hard for him to follow and figure out who did it. Proving to him she does understand business. Even though he inferred she didn't.

memphish said...

I can see that too Sayid's Girl. The hardest part of that to believe though is that Oceanic could afford that kind of payout. No actual airline today could afford that. :-)

kristy said 1. Did you see that look that Sawyer gave Kate when he met her and Jack in the jungle? It seemed to me he said so much with just that look.
my wife started to cry when she saw that and shouted he still loves her.

also how cute was baby aaron on the plane at the beginning.

memphis, maybe as part of the cover story and whoever rescues them Sun finds out some connection between Widmore and Paik industries.

memphish said...

The whole Skate thing is indeed heartbreaking. It was soooo obvious last night that those 2 love each other. I'm glad it looks like we'll get a little more of it next time.

So is beardy Jack going to be able to get Sun to help find the Island again now that she's large and in charge of a shipping company? Again this makes me think Jin is dead because why wouldn't Sun use her resources on her own to find Jin.

Sayid'sgirl said...

That's true they probably couldn't afford it. But it is a show and I allow poetic license. Besides maybe Widmore owned Oceanic he probably could afford the settlement. But I can't see him making it.

memphish said...

I like that idea that Widmore gave them the money Sayid's Girl. It does seem like someone other than the O6 themselves would create their cover story. Something has to happen to make them tell a different story than what really happened. I can't wait to see what it is.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Sun owning half a company would give her even more resources.
And she did say they were going to discuss what the company would be doing/going. Not an exact quote. But she does seem to have plans for it.

memphish said...

Good idea from Jay and Jack -- what if Penny arrives in another boat next to the Freighter and Sun and Aaron gets on it before the Freighter blows.

I did not like how TPTB wrote New Otherton into the show. They are forcing us to give up Othersville for their preferred moniker.

great screenshot of keamy putting the gun to Ben's head and him looking up at the gun with absolutely no fear.

is the orhid the temple? or is the temple were he was signaling with the mirror?

Do you think that there is anything michael could have said to Jin to make him believe that he was there to help them? I dont think i could believe a word of what he says.

i thought micahel was a painter, is his learning how to fix freighter engines the same as charlie becoming a good swimmer?

memphish said...

Michael was in construction too Big Dog.

I'm trying to figure out what's going to happen given Jack and Hurley's claims that they never should have left. People are going to have to survived the movement and Keamy for them to think that right?

bigdog said...

were do you think that fake rescue picture was taken. hurley looked happy and jack looked like he was not wearing a tshirt as usual.

my thoughts on why the need to go back is they made a deal with the devil so to speak, and that always leads to second guessing. Also i could see hurley thinking he should have never left (he has become his own man free of the bad luck) and jack wanting to go back because as he keeps repeating he promised all these people he would get them off the island and didnt. it could be the second time he makes a deal to get himself off the island and leave people behind.

maven said...

Morning all.

Something tells me that the Oceanic people are not part of the cover-up. Miss Decker asks the gang if they want to speak to the press and Jack says ok. When she walks away, the group discuss sticking to the story...lies, lies, lies. Miss Decker (as a representative from Oceanic) doesn't seem to be in on it.

Also, Ben sure seems in control again. Locke tried to assert his new found authority by demanding to see the case Ben dug up, but Ben is the one leading the way and Ben is the one with the plan. He seemed so defeated in the last episode.

It will be interesting to see how the O6 come together. Everyone right now is off in so many different directions.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Okay, I have a couple more questions now that I've had a night to think it over. :)

1) When Jack got on 815, he told the desk woman that he was going to take his father's body home and take him straight to be buried. So, someone other than Jack must have known that Christian was dead. At the very least, Jack's mom would have been notified that Christian's body had been on the plane. So why did they wait so long to hold his memorial service? Shouldn't this have already happened while Jack was missing?

2) Is Oceanic involved in the lie, or are they being duped as well?

3) How do the O6 go from this happy group that hangs out together all the time, to the fractured people they become later? Guilt?

4) How does Dan know the details of secondary protocol? The Captain didn't even know that it existed, and while Keamy knew it was there, he didn't know what it said.

And kind of an old question - who wrote the 'Don't Trust the Captain' note? We've had no indication from Michael that it was him. And the Captain actually turned out to be one of the more trustworthy characters, from what we saw. So what's the deal?

1. I am now convinced that Ben Own oceanic airlines
a. Why have all the coded number references in their cover story, on day 108 and so forth...
b. Widmore is partners with Paik and Mittlewerk, Widmore would never give Sun the settlement money to put her in a position to take over Paik industries, but Ben would
c. Cindy "it's complicated" the stewrdess seems pretty comfortable with the others

2. As i theorized the orchid is highly unstable and a last case scenario, Interesting that the last time ben lept or whatever was three years before the purge

3. If richard and some others are otu and about, the orchid may not be the temple, so does that mean Ben has had people manning the orchid for 15 yrs., much like he secretly had gretta and bonnie in the loking glass

4. Ben did his classic passive agressive, ill let them catch me as his plan to buy locke time, Is there gonna be someone at the orchid to help john move the island

5. I thought it was funny that after last weeks "your the islands chosen one, john" episode, Ben put locke back in his palace with very little answers

6 Best line "haven't you realized by now JOhn, I always have a plan"

7. Ben must Have another man on the boat, besides mike, whoever put all that c4 in the engine room
and maybe who transmitting to the island, maybe well see next week

8 Its not clear who put the freckage, but Ben or whoever is orchestrating the oceanic 6 thing used the freckage for the cover story

9. Im not sure if they will use the chopper, sub, or boat to get to the sunda trench, maybe the island will be there along its journey

10. Its still unclear which team richard plays for IMO

11. Jack finding out about claire, seems to explain much of his anxiety about the whole kate pertending to be Aaaron mom, perhaps claires mom is not a good person.

12. Part of Suns speech to her dad seemed to tie him to widmore or something

13. For Bens plan to work he needed to piss off Sun enough to take over the compant, either Jin dies or cant leave

14. What happened to all the redshits and freighter people, still on the island or dead?

15. besides the aaron thing the island is making it clear to jack that he was wrong about the freighter, with hs bleeding, notice he starting wincing in pain when sawyer told what happened in New otherton.

16. Sawyer's reference to deja vu and a broken record, seems to parallel horace and his paul bunion time loop. Jacks unwavering lust to get off the island seems to be part of bens plan, I think the O6 are the game changer and bens wrench in widmores works, Perhaps Bens whole Hydra manipulation of Jack, kate and sawyer, was done to make it clear that jack could never have kate to himself on the island

17. I dont really think Claire is dead, I think that since ben kidnapped her in season one he has been trying to seperate her and aaron, for his master plan

18. Is Nadia working with Ben or widmore, too much of a coincidence that she prodded charlie to be a hero in the manchester alley, helped sayid learn his torture craft, and met locke when he was a door to door salesman

19. i thought it was a subtle change but significant that Sayid trusted julliette more than daniel, shows his evolution towards working with Ben

20. The oceanic six are literally spead across the island, wonder how they all come together

21. The producers often point out that after the midway point of the series its been sort of an inverse of the first half, such as flash backs, then flash fowards. First half of series redemption stories, second half flash fowards are usually slipping into the abyss stories, jack, hurleey, sayid, etc
I think that another instance of this is how when mike brought everyone to the warph hurley was there to witness it and go get the 815'ers to help, but in the second half of the series, he is sent on the oceanic six to witness the island and bring everyone back to it

22. Is cheech blessed with the same gifts as hugo(starting fires and wild boar) and the fact he was restoring the camero as hugo as restoring the VW and the same song came on the radio, maybe jack having gifts relates to christain's drinking away his own visions, Perhaps Cooper thought the island was hell because he has visions like his boy locke, would make the island way scarier

23. Was dave somehow a widmore controlled entitiy, he always worked against hugos diet, and tried to make hugo kill himself. Why is hugo always eating does it have any significance, does it tie into the choclate that horace and olivia gave ben as a child

24. I believe that horace recruited Ben as a baby, much as richard was trying to recruit locke, but horace wanted someone that could lead the hostiles after the purge, but ultimately betray the hostiles and widmore when the time was right, say 12 yrs later.

25. Why would jacob hang in a shack that horace was building for his wife and him. Was Bens orchid experience from 3 yrs before the purge, under horaces watchful eye.

26. Was claires mom in a human induced coma to drive claire onto 815, seems to remind me of rachels cancer going away, but also the guy that could have been Alvar Hanso in mikes room, was in asimuliar coma. I think that Ben is allies with Alvar and his play with Sun to take over Paik and Getting Hanso back in the drivers seat in TLE was to beat widmore once and for all. I think another reason o6 got handsome settlements is to help them get back to the island.

27. was frank being really calcuating when he threw the sat phone or did he know exactly how it was gonna play out, he said to jack that he threw the phone so that they could come free him and he could fly them out, Is frank that smart, how did he know Keamy would leave him handcuffed in the chopper, maybe a little precog info

28. is daniels journal changing as we go?

2costa said...

by disabling the freighter and such , Ben has successfully kept widmore from finding out anything thats gone on the island, widmore prolly doesnt even know claire's baby is aaron.

I think the claire thing really messed up Jacks post island mojo

I think oceanic is in on it totally, why else would the oceanic lady say and if there any questions you can't answer...

2costa said...

I disagree with Doc Jensen on one point, I dont think Ben is evil anyomore, ithink HE was very Obi wan like when he sacrificed himself to buy locke time, BUt i think Doc is forgetting one thing, I dont think Keamy could kill Ben even if He wanted to, the rules remember, I just wonder if Bens jaunt to tunesia was 15 yrs ago in the orchid, or is that part still to come.

Also i think island decorations for hurleys party were a poor choice, but who knows where the cocanut came from, Arent gold covered jesus staues bordering on idolitry?

bigdog said...

interesting thought about cheech 2costa. i believe that the parents have alot to do with the 815ers.

also what if instead of another spy on the boat the fake bomb that mike turned is what is transmitting.

i thought it was strange that desmond wanted to drive the freighter back to the island but didnt want to go with sayid.

also agree with you on ben being Obi wan like.

i agree the "not yet" bomb could be transmitting, but somebody had a huge stash of c4 on the boat and i dont think it was mike

Bigdog said: i thought it was strange that desmond wanted to drive the freighter back to the island but didnt want to go with sayid.
It was strange, but maybe he thinks he'll just stay on the freighter and not set foot on the island, just bring it closer. One thing I didn't understand was what was up with the monitor that was all snowy. What did it show (or not show) to stop going? Was it supposed to show underwater reefs? Was the island's magnetic force screwing it up?

2costa: Re your point #26 - I also think Christian had something to do with Claire's mom's coma. He might not have caused the coma, but he might have had something to do with keeping it going to manipulate Claire. When he met with Claire at the mall he did say, as a doctor, he had stuff that could help her. He was also paying for her care. She did seem to recover from that coma pretty well.

I also did like the use of New Otherton. That seemed really forced on us by TPTB.

2costa said...

i didnt mind the new otherton reference, but sawyer said it weird. Just othertown would have been better or the barracks, but i think the fourth wall will be more broken as we go anyone remember they obliterated the fourth wall in TLE.

I think its interesting that Sawyer doesnt relly know what going on as far as widmore or the stations, perhaps the details would be a detertiment to a time jumper, ive got to beleive that ben always stocked the bookshelves on the island with timetravel tales for Sawyer for a reason, considering his abscense from the
oceanic 6, I'd say Ben has a use for him. I just wonder what Ben did in the orchid 15 years ago. Another reason I think Ben owns oceanic or his ally Hanso is that He simuliarly protected Walt form widmore by letting Mike leave early, as far as widmore knows walt is dead on the plane or the island, as he protected Aaron from widmore, I cant imagine a cub's adopted mother that could be an more formidable, seems like Kate barren womb plays into her reluctance to come clean about aaron. I think if claire's mom was dealing with Christain on the low, she might not be able to be trusted. Wasnt a mysterious car accident waht put her mum in a coma to begin with

2Costa- Your mind has been running on overtime! So many thoughts. I am going to have to go back to them.

memphish- that AckAttack photo is hillarious.

While I don't know if Sun embezzled money from her dad, I was listening to that convo her dad was having, too and I wouldn't be surprised if the embezzlement has something to do with Ben/Widmore/the Losties. Maybe Ben embezzled it- he'll give Miles $3 million and keep $2 million for funding his time traveling escapades.

My take on Christian's memorial service is that his mom probably had a service for him earlier (or maybe she had one for both Christian and Jack), but that since Jack came back they had this one so that Jack could give a eulogy/have his own closure type of thing. Or maybe his mom was so grieved at losing both that she didn't have one at all before Jack got back. Either way, I don't think it signifies any kind of timing error/glitch.

I agree with whoever said that Jack learning about Claire being his sister is what triggers his downward spiral...that and undead Christian appearing to him.

Another thing I noticed was during the FF press conference, when the Losties were taking questions: One of the reporters began asking Kate about Aaron and tried to place that she was about 6 months pregnant when she was caught in Australia. The Oceanic rep put a halt to the question based on the fact that she shouldn't discuss her case, but I wonder if the reporter suspects that Aaron is not really her baby. I wonder if a scandal about Kate's motherhoood will come into play in a FF?

I am with you all, I am so anxious to see what in the world happens to a)cause the O6 to lie and b) what happens that causes them to split and go such separate and harsh ways.

maven said...

That was supposed to be: I also did NOT like the use of New Otherton.

I never catch the previews. Was Sawyer really on the chopper? As Sawyer, no err, Jack would say, Sonuva. . .

Still, jumping into the ocean is survivable - especially on television.

I'm already anxious for the first episode of next season when we see Desmond and Jin floating along on a piece of freighter wreckage and they find Sawyer floating in the water, unconscious but alive. That river their floating in - it's my favorite one - DeNile.

2costa said...

i almost think frank has some prior knowledge of events, he hesitated on taking keamy back to the island because he knew keamy had to kill doc ray first.

I think its funny that Mike isnt even tied up anymore on the boat, whos left of the freighter people that dude that desmond bonded with in the control room?

maven what if desmond is on Bens team? What if he stayed on the boat to wire up the C4 and free mike, Maybe Desmond is ben's manchurian canidate after the failsafe key and waking up naked, he might not even know hes working for Ben, maybe desmond has a chip in his head like claire, would be a clever way for ben to find Penny. Conversly i think desmonds visions may have been planted by widmore(richard), because charlie being saved over and over seems to favour widmore, since he eventually unjammed the signal, at the same time it could go the other way becuase unjamming the signal is what gave charlie warning about not trusting the freighter

Lost 2010 said...

Incidentally, if they kill Sawyer, Des, and Jin all in the same episode, I may actually start to enjoy watching Jack devolve into a puddle.

maven said...

Did they actually say Aaron was 5 weeks old? Having a granddaughter...she didn't look anywhere that big at 5 weeks old! Any good reporter would begin questioning that Kate gave birth on the island to such a healthy, robust baby boy!

Yes, that look Jack gives Kate and Aaron after finding out about Claire being his half-sister portends his downward spiral and living with these lies.

Re Sun's takeover of Paik Industries: With all the talk of funds moving through 5 banks...this leads me to feel that Ben might have had something to do with it. Either Oceanic's settlement was humongous (times 6), or Ben's $3.2 million plus had a hand in it. If that's true, than Ben is getting back at Paik because he might be aligned with Widmore.

scoutpost said...

lost 2010- There is no way they could kill Sawyer, Des, and Jin in the same episode (could they?!). Don't even think such a thing!!

I have a question- Claire's mom was in the coma when Claire was in her emo/goth stage- before being pregnant with Aaron. When Christian went to Sydney to see Claire (with A.L.) was that Claire's mom he talked to? or was it her aunt? I can't remember. Was Claire's mom still in the coma at the time of 815's demise?

scoutpost said...

Oh and Maven- I agree with you about Aaron's age, but I think part of it is that TV babies are almost always older than they are supposed to be, esp. when you're talking about newborns. I mean Aaron has looked 4-5 months old since he was "born". I always thought he never looked as young as he should. So I didn't chalk it up to a glitch so much as that's how it is in Hollywood. (I could be wrong though)

2costa said...

im sure they got millions each for the oceanic settlement, but 3.2 million isnt enough to take over a big company, so Im sure Sun had help, I have to think that Ben or someone will tell Sun about her fathers involvemet, she didnt even look at him when she landed. I think Sun is the lynchpin of Bens plan to unsubvert the hanso foundation. It will all come down to why jin doesnt make it back home. If we are to beleive tle Sun already has some control of paik by th etime the helgus antonius is sent to widmore, maybe she will booby trap it. The producers said rachel blake as she relate s to reality isnt cannon, but all of her revalations will be, so im thinking the helgus antonius is still in play.

If widmore doesnt ever get word about what happened on the island, how did he seem to know about keamy killing Alex, when ben visited, i think it goes back to widmore knowing basically what was happening and i think he directed Keamy to kill alex no mater what Ben said to him.

I wonder if now that he has Ben, if keamy will ditch the secondary protocol. I think it would be cool as hell if Marvin candle is waiting for locke in the orchid it would jive with that halliwax orchid parka

There's something on the boat sending a signal and causing the RF interference. Michael's "not bomb" is a good idea for this. Good call bigdog.

I'm not sure about memphish but my problem is, is that Jack says in his eulogy that 10 months ago he wrote his thoughts about his dad on a napkin. Ten months from September would be sometime in July. 2Costa asked: Is there gonna be someone at the orchid to help john move the island

I wondered about that too. John knows how to get to the Orchid, but not what to do next. Maybe Harper will be there.

I wonder how much time Jack and the O6 have to come up with their story. Obviously they have some time alone together before their trip to Hawaii to come up with the details about Kate and the baby, Jin dying, floating to the Island, etc. I'm toying with the idea that Ben is going to move the Island and then he's going to let those 6 leave because they choose to leave. Others like Sawyer and Locke choose to stay. I'd say Jin is definitely dead in that scenario. And it doesn't make sense to me that some other redshirt wouldn't choose to leave too.

I like what you had to say 2Costa about Ben protecting Walt from Widmore by having him leave the Island already. That could be the reason for Aaron having to go with the O6 as well.

Sayid's Girl -- I agree about the 10 month problem. They waited 6 months after the O6 are found to have the memorial service? Then why isn't Aaron much, much bigger. It feels like that 10 months thing can't be right, but I'm pretty sure that's what he said. It's impossible for me to figure out the 10 months thing with the story of Aaron's birth and Sun's pregnancy.

Big Dog asked: didnt christian want to remove claires mom from life support?
He did. That's why Christian was in Australia during Claire's Emo phase.

I think that the thing broadcasting from the boat is whatever is transmitting to Keamy's dead man's switch.

I agree though - how could no one notice Keamy's goons setting up that much C4?

I don't think it's too odd that Des would try to move the freighter closer - that way, he's still safely off the island, but he can help get people off quicker. In retrospect, it's probably better that he didn't go back - that's just one more space on the Zodiac for a red shirt.
