Thanks for the new post Dennis.

Capcom, I agree with you and Fishbiscuit in large part too. I've come to the conclusion that legally speaking the writers were telling us "We're not Law and Order. This is our solution to the Kate problem. Move on."

As for Kate's insane behavior with respect to Sawyer playing him, slapping him, leaving him again, frankly I don't know what to make of that. It makes me greatly dislike Kate as a character. She's certainly not the type of girl she first appeared to be, wary, but generally caring, punishing herself but not others. Now she's the kind of girl I wouldn't want to be friends with and definitely wouldn't want any of my male friends to date. And I'd never turn my child over to her.

I, too, am over the flaws in the "trial" of Kate. TPTB needed the exposition to explain why Kate is living the good life and is not behind bars. And I won't be surprised if we eventually find out that this trial was all part of Kate's deal for getting off the island.

Thanks for the new post, Dennis! You're right on top of things.

Off to listen to podcast...hope the spoiler warning gives me plenty of time to avoid it!

This was mentioned in the previous thread but is worth repeating, there is also a new audio-only Official Lost Podcast available at ABC.com.

Here is a direct link to the MP3.

Finally caught up on the posts. Everyone has such great ideas and I'm as confused as ever.

I'm still not ready to give up on my theory that Ben was experimenting with time travel and pushing the buttons in the Swan was holding him back. After the purpling, he was able to control time and therefore, like Desmond, know what was going to happen before it happened (the little weasel.) So, maybe, just maybe, the future of the 06 is a possible future, much like that of Ebenezer Scrooge. Redemption might be a possibility yet.

Ever the optimist. ;)

maven said...

Barbarajay: That would be interesting if Ben could control what happens, and the FF are possible futures. However, I do remember hearing or reading Darlton say that the FF are the future the way everything plays out and not what the future may be and can be changed.

Maybe these people can only find redemption on the island. And it disappears when they get back to the real world. Maybe that's why Jack wants to go back.

maven said...

Dennis: That OLP was from 2/15 and discusses "The Economist". "Eggtown" podcast is not up...yet. But thanks for the link for those who haven't heard it yet.

Re the TLC podcast: I'm going with the theory that Aaron is not part of O6 mainly because he was not on the manifest. That leaves room for 2 more...maybe Jin and Sun. I think Sawyer and Hurley make the perfect roommates! They have seemed to become more friendly...especially when Sawyer wanted to comfort Hurley re Charlie's death. What is strange to me in Otherville is how everyone seems so happy and content there. They've created a quaint little life for themselves so quickly, when they should be worried about what might be coming for them from the freighter. No defenses seem to be set up, and they're not really hiding anywhere.

David: Like your different bearings=different time fluctuations. I think this might relate to the Moebius Strip research that came out here. Maybe the 325 bearing is the only one in which time doesn't change.

I caught up on all the articles now and even read J. Wood. IT was long and intense, but I got through it and find the discussion of VALIS intriguing. I think it fits in well with LOST based on J. Wood's synopsis of it.

When I was on DarkUFO catching up on some of the reviews, I couldn't help myself and slipped over to the spoiler section. Some of the stuff there isn't all that spoilery (like some of the trailers and promotional screencaps) and when something is really spoilery they usually hide it under a "Read more" button. Well they had something in the title of a post and now I;ve been spoiled! Serves me right for going there! I now know something I don't want to know aobu the next episode. I wish there was a way to unread something.

So sorry to hear your sad spoiler news, lostit! I'm very nervous no matter where I go on some sites (not here), because you never know when someone let's something slip.

Off to watch the red carpet stuff....

David, Steve, what a massive thrill to hear your shoutout this week! Jen and I are big fans of your show, and actually find it perplexing you think 'The Transmission' sounds remotely good. The Lost Community Podcast sets the gold standard for sound and energy and personality. We only wish we had as much fun as you guys do!

We're glad to be back, but while Lost podcasts have evolved by leaps and bounds over the past two years, we're still partying like it's 2005. But thanks for listening, and your approval means a lot.

And hey, we'd love to sign on and chat with you guys, anytime. I think timezones complicates things (we've no helicopter to skip us ahead a few hours or so), but say the word and we'll yell at each other across the ocean soon.

So I see we have a new masthead. Great that it now includes mention of the podcast now in the title!

Dennis said...

Yeah, I like the new masthead. The tropical island one was too tall. I made a really cool masthead for the new season, but I can't get to it because my main computer was fried in the last storm.

David and Steve - great podcast guys! Best of the season so far, and thanks again for the spoiler warning!

My notes from the podcast:

Xanadu vs. Satan's Doom - It is interesting that this was mentioned, because I just watched the sneak preview of this scene on Dark UFO (episode 404, SP 2), and the music that comes on in the sneak preview is different, i.e. it sounds more like Satan's Doom, not Xanadu.

"Where did you get your boy?" - this have been mentioned in the comments, but that audio is reversed, and the scary man is saying "we hate you", but to me, it almost sound like he is saying "Claire, we hate you" , which doesn't make much sense.

Oceanic 6 - The preview for "Eggtown" after "The Economist", and the prehash from the OLP both imply that this episode contains another member of the Oceanic 6, so I guess that it's Aaron, which leaves only one spot. My wildest guess for the last slot is now John Locke!

Jack's testimony - Steve was right ... but so was David!

On September 22, 2004, Kate... uh, Ms. Austin and I
were both passengers on Oceanic Flight 815
which crash landed on an island in the south pacific.
...
Only eight of us survived the crash. We landed in the water.
I was hurt, pretty badly. in fact, if it weren't for her,
I would have never made it back to the shore.
She took care of me, she took care of all of us,
she gave us first aid, water, found food, made shelter.
She tried to save the other two, but they didn't...

BTW, I happened to wander into the "Episodes" section over at DarkUFO while I was trying to find something, and I found this interesting casting info about "Eggtown" that was listed as a spoiler, but is NOT actually true:

MARK FORRESTER [Lawyer]
All ethnicities, 40s, nice looking, a cocky, not afraid to argue corporate player willing to risk his position for a promotion in a company buy-out. GUEST STAR.

MELISSA WATERS [DA]
All ethnicities, 40s, attractive, self-assured and formidable. Successful in a man's world and competing against a co-worker for a highly-valued promotion in a company buy-out. GUEST STAR.

ARTHUR GALZETHRON [Judge]
All ethnicities, 60s, wise and fair but doesn't suffer fools gladly. President of a company during a corporate buy-out and must make a decision about an in-house promotion. NICE CO-STAR.

OK, time to watch The Oscars. Go JUNO!

Hi all, after watching the episode in the UK I have to say it wasn't my favourite. I have to rank it as fourth favourite for the season !

There was lots of talk in the previous posts about the time difference and how the helicopter hasn't arrived yet. Isn't there a simpler explanation, that it has arrived and the Freighter people just lied on the phone ?

There was lots of talk about how the losties haven't found redemption, well maybe their redemption will be after the flash forwards have played out, maybe it only happens once they save the island or whatever it is they are destined to do.

Does anyone worry that with all the discussions that at the end of the series there will be no surprises, do you think TPTB will have something up their sleeves that will truly shock and surprise us ?

Zort70 said...

By the way I do like the new look banner for the blog site.

But not being able to re-size the comments window is a slight niggle, can this setting be changed ?

Ange said...

Awesome new look Dennis!

Is anyone else having issue with the podcast. ITunes won't add it and gives me an error when I try to manually get the episode. The link on the main page won't open the quicktime link or download for me. Obviously people are hearing it. Is it just me?

memphish said...

Nice podcast guys! I like the parallels you drew between the Freighties and our original characters. Charlotte like Kate really works for me. When Locke first found Charlotte she was all sweetness and light, like Kate early in the series. Then her true nature is revealed in that her agenda is the thing that's most important to her.

As for the food, it may come back because it's part of the cover story. Jack says something about them almost starving. That works into what we've been discussing here as well in terms of how much longer it will take anyone to get rescued.

Zort70 said...

Is there any merit in suggesting that the O6 or (O6+2) have been tricked into leaving the island (or left mistakenly) and are then told by the authorities (Abaddon) that the others will be rescued and given new identities if they keep quiet about the Freckage.

We then get beardy Jack all tired and emotional because he realised that they lied through their teeth and he now knows that they are either still on the island or they have been killed, and he feels responsible for that ?

Zort70 said...

I've just realised that given my earlier question about all the speculation that I'm still theorising.

The only solution is to go back to just being a normal viewer and only wath the episodes, not look on the web at all.

but then I'd miss you all too much, ah well back to the theorising.

Zort70 said...

"wath" is not a new type of insect but should have been "watch"

memphish said...

About David's Wacky Theory that Future Aaron (FA) is not Claire's Aaron (CA) -- I can almost buy it but for the ridiculous amount of confusion caused by repeating that name, but:

Kate could be pregnant by Sawyer and be lying about it which is still the best motivation for her to leave the Island because of the pregnancy death sentence. She names the baby Aaron to honor the abandoned Claire and Aaron and to forget about the callous James.

And Jack wouldn't want to see FA because it reminds him first of Skex and second his abandonment of his real 1/2 sister and nephew (CA) on the Island.

Hopefully we'll get an OLP soon and some of this confusion can be cleared up. I'm betting that this is CA not FA and we the fans are just going overboard kind of like our Jae Lee murder theories. :D

E has her episode review up on her blog Long Live Locke. I'm sure it will be up on DarkUFO soon as well. Here's an interesting idea from it:

2) We know that Ben is still around in the future and is still fighting the good fight against "the bad guys," with Sayid's help. So perhaps Miles succeeds in convincing everyone that Ben is dead. That would explain why Elsa's group couldn't figure out who Sayid was working for--they truly believed that Ben had been killed.

I have to say I never thought of that.

memphish said...

I'm also like the Miles is the mole and got his info on the 815ers from Ben theory because Miles knows all about Kate, but Frank doesn't know anything about Sayid, other than presumably his name.

Zort70 said...

memphish said... I'm also like the Miles is the mole and got his info on the 815ers from Ben

Does that mean that "get me 3.2 million" was some sort of code ? and "It will take me a week" is a coded response ?

memphish said...

That's exactly what I'm wondering Zort70. It's pretty conspiracy theory out there, but maybe . . .

I've stuck some more polls up on my blog including is the request for 3.2 million code or not. Come by and vote; leave comments; tell your friends. :D

memphish said...

Do you think Jack's going to need Aaron to be able to find the Island again? Or will he find Sayid and through Sayid find Ben? Or Walt?

memphish said...

Sorry for all the posts but no one seems to be around yet. I just had a LOST/Dark Tower idea about time and distance. In the 3rd Dark Tower Book, The Waste Lands, every day that passes the distance between places elongates so traveling from A to B takes longer every day that passes. I'm thinking it's something like that that's occurring since Desmond turned the key. It's also the case in The Waste Lands that time is slowing down or slipping. That could be happening too.

memphish said...

This is my favorite thing I've read or heard about S4 so far. It's from Luhks who does episode reviews at DarkUFO.

Now that four episodes of this new season have aired, Season Four has developed its own unique style. The secret of this format lies in the old riddle of the chicken and the egg: this episode reveals the image of the eggs, but never shows us the chicken that produced them. In this story, effects precede causes. Each of the four flash-forward episodes presented us with a series of eggs, but the chickens that caused them remain conveniently off-screen.

He/she is so right. All we've seen is the results not the causes. Way to hit the nail on the head Luhks.

maven said...

Morning. Hope you all enjoyed the Oscars. (I didn't see one of the nominated best pics...waiting for Netflix!)

I could buy that Aaron is named in honor of Aaron and Claire and not James. That would explain Jack being reluctant to bond with the two of them. But I remember hearing that Aaron is supposed to be integral to the story of LOST, so I'm hoping Aaron is the real thing.

I like Zort's idea that whomever got the O6 off the island is reneging on their promises, which would let the O6 "off the hook" and want to go back to fix whatever went wrong.

I also can buy if that Miles tells everyone that Ben is dead, so in the FF The Economist would have no idea who Sayid's boss is.

Amused2bHere said...

Thanks Carol. The new tab thing works fine. Problem solved!

I have a problem hearing the whole podcast. It cuts out about 3/4 through. maybe I'll try to get it directly from talkshoe's archives.

It was good while it lasted, though.

maven said...

I didn't have any problems with the podcast yesterday. I don't know about today!

accohen said...

I haven't heard the podcast yet, so maybe this is already answered....but I just had to ask first. I can't get my head around the fact that Jack says in his opening statement in the trial that Oceanic 815 "crash landed ON an island in the South Pacific"....yet we know that the WORLD should believe that Oceanic 815 was found at the bottom of the ocean, and not on the island. Am I making too much of this, or is this implying that people sometime before Kate's trial begins start to realize that the footage of 815 sitting at the bottom of the ocean was fake??

Twinkle said...

Just finished the podcast! Accohen, they brought up the same thing!

From the last thread and the podcast, it's good to hear others who think that Flashforward Aaron is not the same as Island Aaron! Evangeline Lilly's interview posted on DarkUFO makes it clear that she thinks it was Claire's Aaron but we know the writer's don't put the actors in the know completely. And it's really hard to tell if that boy was supposed to be 2, 3, or even 4 years old!

Carol Dunstan said...

to me it is obvious that when it is made public that the O6 are found that some explaination is given for why a plane in the Sunda Trench was previously reported as 815... it's one of those chickens we haven't seen yet. But I think the explaination will also be fake... I doubt it will become public knowledge who was behind it though there will possibly be scape goats. And the explaination will probably be as plausible as 815 being in the Sunda Trench...

maven said...

Well, I certainly hope some interesting explanation is given for the freckage vs. Jack's testimony. To me, it's a big flaw in the story (bigger than Kate's quickie trial).

Capcom said...

Yes, that's a big descrepancy there with the testimony. Another one in a list of many that may or may not be addressed, sheesh.

Reading some peoples' take on the whole Sawyer/Kate/bungalow scenes made me think something baaaad of the wine-in-a-box scene. Since Sawyer has such oafish manners, and it's supposed to be on or near Yuletide on the island, his wine box presentation made me think of a certain Justin Timblerlake skit on SNL about a Christmas present to his girlfriend of something-in-a-box, if ya know what I mean. :-B

memphish said...

LOL Capcom!

I heard someone today say that Sawyer was trying to figure out sneakily whether or not Kate was pregnant. If she'd said no to the wine, he'd know. She took a small sip, but nothing to draw firm conclusions on.

maven said...

Very funny, Capcom. Yeah, that was my first thought with the wine box scene. If Kate was pregnant, she wouldn't take the wine or beg off (maybe saying: Wouldn't it be sour by now?). But, you're right, Memphish, the small sip is inconclusive.

Dennis said...

Ange said... Awesome new look Dennis!

That's all David Penuel's work. I agree, it looks awesome!

memphish said... Kate could be pregnant by Sawyer and be lying about it which is still the best motivation for her to leave the Island because of the pregnancy death sentence.

If Kate was really pregnant, she wouldn't be debating whether or not to leave the island. She wouldn't need to talk to Miles, becasue she would HAVE to leave the island, or she would die from the pregnancy.

accohen said... I can't get my head around the fact that Jack says in his opening statement in the trial that Oceanic 815 "crash landed ON an island in the South Pacific"....yet we know that the WORLD should believe that Oceanic 815 was found at the bottom of the ocean, and not on the island.

I posted the Jack's testimony above in my podcast notes. He says two conflicting things on the stand:

• Ms. Austin and I were both passengers on Oceanic Flight 815 which crash landed on an island in the south pacific.

• Only eight of us survived the crash. We landed in the water.

Twinkle said... And it's really hard to tell if that boy was supposed to be 2, 3, or even 4 years old!

The episode's credits said "2 year old boy" :)

maven said...

Dennis: Well, whatever Jack did say on the stand was very different to what the world was told about the wreckage in the Sunda Trench...not that close to the Pacific Ocean.

(At least on the island, half the plane crashed on the island and half crashed in the water, so I suppose both can be true in the lie.)

Capcom said...

Oh wow, I didn't even think of Sawyer tricking Kate into drinking the wine as a clue on the pregnancy. On the other hand, Kate seems so selfish and reckless, she might not care if she drank while pregnant anyway.

Can you tell that I don't like her much right now? I agree with what you said Memphish, at first it seemed as if she was at least altruistic when it came to others, if not too wise about herself. Now, not so much.

Carol Dunstan said...

as far as drinking while pregnant, some sources say a little is ok (I think things have certainly relaxed in recent times) so even if she'd had the whole glass I would say it was inconclusive

Dennis said:

One thought I had about this was she was gathering intel to decide her moves once off the island (hit the ground running so to speak).

Oooh! So that's too close to tell if he was conceived or born on the island. To much depends on how long its been since they crashed and we can't tell that yet.

ridiculous, I know, but we've seen stranger stuff, right?

twinkle- I've wondered the same thing about Jack. So I guess physically we're looking at at least a couple of months, but how long emotionally did it take him to go from "well adjusted" to desolate? And what was the trigger?

Good thoughts everyone, too bad we don't have some more answers.

One thing that has REALLY been bugging me is...where the heck is Old Smokey?!! If it doesn't make an appearance soon, I think something is up. It just doesn't make sense that it's AWOL these past 4 episodes- with all the different groups people have been wandering all over that island, and a helicopter left for crying out loud- all without one trace of Smokey.

I don't think Kate ever debated about leaving the island... she always knew she wanted to get off. I think the thing she was debating was whether or not to try and get Sawyer to join her.

I was one of the first to think Kate was pregnant (and that Aaron was just a name she gave her baby in honor of Claire's Aaron), but now I'm not so sure..

I've been thinking of the losties that have reverted to their "old" selfish ways in this season...

I wonder if Ben (or a power higher than Ben) is choosing which ones get off the island by the way they are acting. By that I mean, the ones who are willing to do almost anything (sell their souls) to get off the island would be good candidates to recruit for off-island lies (and deals made with the "devil") and maybe even to work for the higher powers, whoever they may be.

We've already seen Sayid working for Ben.

Maybe Kate's "job" is to bring up Aaron and pretend she's his Mom. It could be as simple as a cover for who Aaron really is.

I'm not sure about Jack's "job". It could be that they need him, a well respected doctor who tells the truth even if it ruins his Dad's career, to be the mouthpiece to tell the story of their crash & survival. Jack is definitely the one who comes across as being the most of a celebrity out of this.

I have no idea about Hurley. Maybe they just want him off the island now that he has seen Jacob's cabin and they figure with his "crazy" mental institution past, nobody would believe him anyway if he started spouting off.

I have absolutely no idea about Desmond, but he wasn't on flight 815, so he wouldn't be part of the O6. From the promos it looks like we'll see more of him next episode (and I can't wait!)

Something tells me that Ben is going to get on that freighter, too. I would love it if he tried to take the identity of a "survivor" of 815 so that his enemies won't ever guess that he's really The Ben Linus.

So, that's a lot of lies for the O6 to have to keep, most likely under the threat of having all the other survivors who stay on the island killed if they say anything. Maybe that's another reason why Jack wants to go back. He feels that if he can save the ones "left behind", not only will he be freeing his friends, he'll also be free to tell the truth about Ben's real identity.

memphish said...

No stranger than that ridiculous trial. Still it doesn't explain Jack's South Pacific claim (and what I believe to be reality) vs. Indian Ocean trench complete with freckage. This detail is driving me nuts.

Scoutpost said: One thing that has REALLY been bugging me is...where the heck is Old Smokey?!!

Amen! He showed up the first night 815 crashed and came back the same day and showed up at the cockpit and now people are criss-crossing the Island repeatedly and no Smokey. I'd guess the security system is disabled, but by whom?

Codysmom said: I don't think Kate ever debated about leaving the island... she always knew she wanted to get off. I think the thing she was debating was whether or not to try and get Sawyer to join her.

That's an interesting thought. Maybe if Kate had been pregnant she would have said to Sawyer "I'm pregnant; I have to leave or I'll die; and when I do I'm going to jail. Come with me and raise our child." I for one am not convinced that Sawyer is facing immediate arrest. I think the Others put 2 and 2 together on Shrimp Shack guy, not the Australian police.

And nice analysis Codysmom. I do think Kate's "job" is to take care of Aaron and hide his true identity though I'm not sure from whom. And I think Jack's "job" is spokesmodel. After all if you wouldn't lie to save your Dad's career, you wouldn't lie now would you? I can't come up with anything for Hurley either though.

memphish said...

Here's another idea about Jack not wanting to see Aaron. Jack is afraid to be a father. He's afraid he'll be a crap father like his father was. He mentions this fear in the episode when he marries Sarah, again in that first mobisode and it's clear when Sarah tells him about the pregnancy test that the idea she might be pregnant doesn't sit well with him. At least he has the presence of mind not to cheer, not that it saves his marriage.

Smokey is missing. Jacob's cabin is on the loose. The food is running out.

These things must be connected, but I can't see how yet. Maybe something is broken?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good morning! Holy cow, you guys have been busy. :) I've been out of the loop since the episode aired, and I just caught up on comments - great ideas floating around here! Here's my two cents, in a nutshell:

1) The world thinks Aaron is Kate's biological son. There's no way that a wanted fugitive would be able to adopt him, no matter how much she insisted that it was Claire's wish. Aaron would be with Claire's Aunt Lindsey, or maybe with Jack, if the truth about their relationship was known. Besides, seeing some kid that Kate adopted wouldn't be enough to persuade her mom to revoke her testimony. She wanted to see her grandson.

2) I agree that the trial was greatly glossed over. Even without Kate's mom, they had more than enough to convict her of the bank robbery, Tom's death, evading arrest, and more. I'd love to find out that this was part of Kate's deal, and not just a convinient out.

3) I never considered that Miles might be Ben's man onthe boat, but I like that idea. I especially like the idea that $3.2 million was some sort of code. We know that the freighter folks use codes, and even when watching the episode, it struck me as an odd number to ask for.

4) I'd like to think that Sawyer's relief about Kate's non-pregnancy was based on not wanting her to die, even if he didn't say it. He says something to the affect of a baby being "the worst thing that could happen," and I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was alluding to her being in danger.

5) I was also struck by Jack's comment that the plane crashed on an island - can't wait to hear the story they come up with!

All in all, this episode was okay. I'm not a huge fan of Kate to begin with, but there were some good moments here. I'm especially liking the interaction between Sawyer and Hurley. It's so sweet! I think that Hurley's heroic actions with the van, coupled with Charlie's death, have really made Sawyer a little protective of him. He tried to comfort Hurley on their trek through the jungle and didn't get upset when Hurley blew him off and he went with Locke mostly because of Hurley's speech. I wondered why they would be roommates when there's so many houses in New Otherton, but I almost wonder if it's more of Sawyer protectiveness. I could see Hurley being a little reluctant to be on his own, and Sawyer sighing and saying, "I GUESS you could stay with me, if you HAVE to" I think now that Charlie is gone, Sawyer feels the need to step in to that role a little.

Whew! sorry for the long post. :)

It's interesting that 11 out of 19 people who've voted on my blog so far say that Miles 3.2 million is code. But only 6 people think Miles is Ben's man on the boat. We're such conspiracy theorists. :D

I really hope we'll get an OLP this week. Twinkle, do you have the link for that Evangeline Lilly interview you mentioned where she talks about Aaron? I can't find it.

Memphish, Sawyer840 has that interview with Evi on it.

http://sawyer840.blogspot.com/

That interview pretty much sums it up for the baby being Aaron, so far.

A couple things that I think about this is that a)Claire seems to have told Kate about the prophecy of how Aaron must not be brought up by the worng people which gives Kate the urgency she has to stay with Aaron and not let anyone else near him (including her mother); and b) the reason why S3-FF-Kate does not want to see Jack, is because of what she said in this last ep. Some people are still wondering why he said that they weren't supposed to see each other, but it could just be that Kate gave him the final ultimatun of no-baby-see, no-Kate-see, and that was the choice that Jack made (until he saw the coffin person).

Capcom said...

Also, one way that the "3.2 mil" could be a code, and, Miles could not be Ben's plant, is if the Freighter controllers know that Ben just did some kind of action that gained him that amount of money. And the fact that They know about it was another way for Miles to show Ben that they "know who you are", and know all about what he has been doing off-island, wheeling and dealing, etc. That's why I voted "yes" to a code, and "no" to the Miles-plant questions Memphish. :-)

Thanks for that link Capcom. I wonder why it isn't on ABC's website. And according to it no Damon and Carlton this week either. Drats.

Scoutpost said...

I am open to the possibility that the 3.2 million comment was a code. Maybe that's why Ben makes the "why not 3.4 or 3.5" comment. Maybe each denomination had a certain meaning. But I also wonder if Ben maybe stole or embezzled that money from someone (like Widmore) and they are coming to get it back- maybe that was why someone (like Widmore) was looking for the island from the Arctic station. And maybe that's why Miles knows how much to ask for and why he's willing to say Ben's dead- maybe they think they couldn't recover all the money if Ben were dead. That would kind of explain why there are different factions on the freighter- some are there to recover Ben at any cost, while others are just there to do the scientific discovery stuff, and Frank is just there to fly the helicopter. Ok I'm ready for the next episode....

Tess315 said...

I kind of had the feeling that Miles had borrowed money from a loan shark. He seemed like that type to me.

memphish said...

Hey everyone. I heard a couple of neat things on Jay and Jack and wanted to run them by everyone as discussion has seemed to peter out.

1st -- a couple of new takes on "who is in the coffin." 1 listener suggested that no one is in the coffin but that Ben has faked his death using one of his aliases a la Anthony Cooper to get the people on his tail off his tail. They further suggested that Kate knew this and Jack didn't which is why Jack but Kate wasn't upset. I guess you could also argue Jack knew the alias but Kate didn't which is but I think she recognized the name. It could also be that the avenging Kate (see her own daddy explosion) just finds it good that Ben has died.

A variation on the theme would be that it is actually Ben in the coffin using one of his aliases and Jack's upset because he thinks this was his best chance to return to the Island. I'm not really buying that though because if Jack knows Benry's fake name why doesn't he just go see him as opposed to flying Oceanic willy nilly.

A different listener was talking about the Jack, Kate, Aaron dynamic. Oh no, not another triangle. :P He said that he thought Kate wasn't planning to leave the Island, but Jack does something to cause Claire's death and her dying wish is that Kate who she knows was on the run with the Marshal, but not exactly why, makes Kate promise to get Aaron off the Island. I'd forgotten that really none of the 815ers know What Kate's Done. They know she was the Marshal's prisoner and Sawyer and Jack knows she's killed a man, but neither know the circumstances and no one knows the whole story.

So what does everyone here think?

Capcom said...

Interesting Memphish. Did Hurley know what she did, or did he just know that she was wanted? I forget.

I agree with you, if Jack knew how to get to Ben, he would go there and demand it, as is his habit. :-) But, unless he didn't know how to find Ben, then maybe not. Damm these ifs and buts all the time. :-(

Capcom said...

Wow Ellen, that was a doozy over at Yahoo. I wish that I could understand more of that. But I did get the bowling ball description!

Well, I kind of hope that TPTB have someone like Ben say, "See my secret closet here, it's really a wardrobe to another land, in another time, simple as that!" :-B

Twinkle said...

RE: Kate and Aaron - However that relationship came about its a real one, based on how it was acted. Aaron truly believes Kate is his mom (2 yr olds don't fake that) and Kate isn't just taking care of him, but truly loves him like a mom ever could. Her dedication to being Aaron's mom should play into our theories about how she took on that role. No hired shepherd acts the same as the one who invested in the sheep.

Memphish: I found the interview on DarkUFO. It was the official video podcast from ABC for Eggtown. I don't find it on the ABC site though!

Twinkle said...

Dude! Capcom! The wardrobe! Is that what people are saying about the C.S. Lewis relationship to the story? I hadn't thought of it before because there are so many works by him. The expanded showing of the episode where Charlotte landed referred to C.S. Lewis at the author of the Narnia series so that could narrow down which of his stories to pay attention to. Ben has a "box" and can get on and off the island - now that you mention it, it sounds exactly like the wardrobe!

Capcom said...

I don't know what others are saying Twinkle, that was just what came to my mind after that episode, and we met Charlotte, and thinking back it just kind of seemed like Sayid walked into the Ben's magic wardrobe so maybe...! :-) Not that I think that's really it, I'm just hoping that TPTB make their 'explanation' of the time travel that simple. :-D

Carol Dunstan said...

Damon and Carlton said in one of their OLP's that there were many themes in Narnia that related (or something like that) to LOST. I've been trying not to be too literal, but Ben as Jada and Locke as Edward are a few fleeting thoughts I've had ;-)

maven said...

Memphish said: Maybe if Kate had been pregnant she would have said to Sawyer "I'm pregnant; I have to leave or I'll die; and when I do I'm going to jail. Come with me and raise our child."
I think Kate is only thinking about herself. It's what she's always done. She can't play house with Sawyer in Otherville or in the real world.

Memphish also said: I do think Kate's "job" is to take care of Aaron and hide his true identity though I'm not sure from whom.
I like this idea. This might have been part of the deal for getting off the island and becoming part of the O6. Kate is to bring up Aaron, and be his caretaker until he is old enough to fulfill whatever destiny he has.

Amused2bhere said: Smokey is missing. Jacob's cabin is on the loose. The food is running out.
These things must be connected, but I can't see how yet. Maybe something is broken?

I think we saw a little of this with Ben seeming to loose control and confidence of "his people". Maybe the island is trying to fix things.

Melisa_lossa said: I think that Hurley's heroic actions with the van, coupled with Charlie's death, have really made Sawyer a little protective of him.
That's why I thought they made such great roommates!

I'm open to the $3.2 million to being a code. Miles seems really into this "spy" stuff. But I don't see how he can be the man on the boat.

maven said...

And I also love the Narnia connection with Ben's closet being the portal to another world.

Black Swan said...

Congrats! You're doing better than me now... I'm down to 673. Just two weeks ago I was at 333.

capcom, I like your idea of Ben's secret room... "See my secret closet here, it's really a wardrobe to another land, in another time, simple as that!"
LOL! Actually, as I was watching the episode I kept wishing Sayid would look around that room a little more. Maybe he would have found a strange little door.... Sayid found the trapdoor in the flame with no problem:)

Scoutpost, I like your ideas about the 3.2 million "code" and that the freighties are all there for a different agenda. Since Abaddon was the one to get this group together, do you think he works for a syndicate or is he on his own?

I totally agree. (It gives me a bad feeling about Claire, though, since Kate must feel there is absolutely NO way Claire can be Aaron's mom anymore)

Well, seems I'm the last one to bed... g'nite!

memphish said...

Morning LoCos. It was in the OLP last week that Darlton said that the idea of moving from our world to another world like in the Narnia books and like in Alice In Wonderland and like in Wizard of Oz were in part why Charlotte is CS Lewis. There's no transcript of that podcast at Lostpedia for now, so I can't give you the exact quote. I remember thinking that the key idea at the time is that the two worlds are linked, but different. So that would rule out things like them being in outer space you needing a rocket to get there for example, but a wardrobe could come in handy.

It will be interesting to see how Ben has managed to maintain and use this "portal" for his own ends. In each of those stories, Narnia, etc. the portals don't seem to work all the time. Like in the Narnia books sometimes the wardrobe works and sometimes it doesn't, and then by the time of Prince Caspian and later books, they don't use the wardrobe at all; it's a different portal. And it seems like the 2nd world controls your entrance to it, not the other way around. I guess that may be why Ben can come and go because he's from World #2 as opposed to Future Jack whose from World #1.

And Twinkle I agree whether or not raising Aaron was part of a deal, Kate has taken wholeheartedly to it, and she's been doing it long enough that Aaron buys it fully too. Maybe when they get rescued Claire and another body is with them and that's why the 8 of us survived, then 2 died story. Now that even makes me wonder if someone moves them to another Island, one with 2 graves and they are rescued from there. Thanks goodness it's only 1 1/2 days until a new episode. :D

This is from Big Mouth over at Eye M Sick:

* Another possibility -- the second sat. phone number calls the immediate past. In fact, Frank and Sayid already *did* make it back to the Freighter. They're being interrogated by Minkowski, which is why he doesn't answer the phone. The second number reached Regina in the past, before the helicopter returned.

* If the preceding scenario turns out to be the case, the second phone line may be a kind of Fail-Safe. In emergencies, the brief time differential might be used to change the immediate future, thereby averting the crisis. Such an effect could also explain how someone (Jacob?) exploited the Island's existence out of phase with the world's timeline to change the fate of Oceanic 815.

That's an interesting idea.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good morning!

In the Narnia books, there is much talk about the portals being there when they are needed. In the end of Lion, Witch and Wardrobe, the professor tells them that there are many ways in and out of Narnia, and he doubts that they will ever use the wardrobe again.

In Prince Caspian, they are summoned by Susan's magic horn and in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, they are drawn into a painting. In the Silver chair, they are actually taken to an in-between world first, and are then sent on to Narnia by Aslan.

Aslan the Lion is also an interesting parallel - he is the "god" character, and yet he is only able to return to Narnia with the help of the children. Even though his subjects need him, he cannot help them until the time is right. Is this maybe a parallel to Jacob? He needs to help the island, but cannot until Locke (or someone else) helps him? Is Ben the White Witch, keeping Jacob at bay?

***spoiler, if you haven't read the Narnia books***

There is also a scene in LWW, where Aslan gives up his life for Edmund, who has been branded a traitor. He is killed by the White Witch, but then brought back to life through an ancient magic that she knows nothing about. This could also tie into the island through the "natives" - if Jacob is one of them, he may know secrets of the island that Ben does not.

Melissa_Lossa said...

***spoiler/clarification***

Ausiello over at tvguide.com has all but confirmed that Aaron is NOT considered one of the Oceanic 6.

Capcom said...

Hey all!

Right Memphish, it was when TPTB said that in the OLP that I wished that they could really do a complicated time thing to satisfy us SciFi buffs, but explain it as simply, for the non-fanboys/girls, as using a wardrobe to another place/time. :-)

What you said also made me think that perhaps, -- pre-purpling -- Ben could do the warp travel thing, but to a very limited capacity, and he needed the apparatus shut down by not hitting the button. BUT, when he had the chance to hit the button he did, because he didn't want to be there when it imploded in case he'd get killed (or because he didn't know where the key was), so he tried to use planted-Locke-doubt as a way for the button to not be pushed when he got away. Then, with the purpling done, he could freely utilize the island's natural "wardrobe" qualities to freely travel where ever. Or not. :o)

Maybe the new movie "Jumper" is how Ben gets around. Has anyone read that book(s)?

Due to spoilers that I checked out, one of those things that Bigmouth said is not correct.

Wednesdays should be known as Spoiler Day...as Thursday approaches, it gets tougher and tougher to avoid things.

I do agree with you guys that Kate sure has taken to the "Mom" role of Aaron. And he seems to really buy that she's Mommy. Especially when we had the scene with Claire at the laundry line where Kate seemed nervous around babies. It has to be more than Kate just being given a role to play in the Big Lie.

Ange said...

Costa: Damon and Carlton said that Find 815 was not canon, so I'd venture to say we can't count on the Earhart info from that as meaning anything.

Black Swan said...

I wish Lost was on Wednesdays (at 9pm) again... seems like to long to wait til Thursday:)

Black Swan said...

ange, the Earhart thing is not only in Find 815. Remember the anagram of Herarat, the word we see on the wall of Mittlos when Richard is getting ready to bring Juliet to the island?

Black Swan said...

I personally would love it if Othertown's Amelia really is Amelia Earhart. One of my favorite theories is the properties of the Island can be used as a sort of "fountain of youth".

In Eggtown when Daniel is doing the card memory exercise with Charlotte, at first I was thinking the Island was healing Daniel's brain which had been damaged by alzheimers, stroke, or even autism (after all, he has a caretaker).

Then over the weekend, I was trying to remember a list of three things for the grocery store... (I kid you not) and I could only remember two of them... LOL I'm getting OLD (mid-fifties) and all my friends and I are starting to go through this short-term memory loss thing. Maybe Daniel is just OLD... older than he looks:)

maven said...

LOL! I hear your pain, Codysmom! Post-It notes are my friends!

I, too, would love that Book Club Amelia is THE Amelia. I don't know if the Herarat Airlines anagram was an homage to or a hint about Amelia, but it would be cool if it was her. After all, look at the ageless Richard.

memphish said...

To me the Amelia possibility raises one of the huge questions/problems when it comes to this time difference. Alpert doesn't age, but Ben and Amelia do and wombs age faster still? I can't figure out how to make those pieces of the puzzle fit together quite right.

Black Swan said...

maven, Yes! Look at ageless Richard! I really hope he gets back on the show.

When you think of it, the possible "power players" who have the money to back an operation like Mittlos are getting OLD... and they would have reason to find a "fountain of youth" and even a way for old people to have babies again. If it's the real Amelia Earhart, maybe she's the one who started the idea for Ben to get Juliet on the Island to figure out how to do that. I don't think the real Amelia Earhart ever had kids. Like Richard said, it wasn't the main idea but something that Ben got sidetracked on.

memphish said...

Completely off topic, but if you're around Twinkle (and any other Project Runway watchers) who are you rooting for in the finals? Or are you spoiled on that too? :D I'm personally rooting for Jillian because I think her stuff is beautiful and is stuff I'd consider wearing. My second choice is Christian because he and his clothes are more interesting than Chris or Romy. Wait, I meant fierce.

Black Swan said...

memphish, I can't figure out how to make this work, either.

maven said...

There are so people on the island in different stages of life. So it's hard to make the "fountain of youth" theory work.

Capcom said...

Well, it would all depend on when and how they got there Maven. You can still use the FOY theory, but it just applies to their initial arrival at the island. Or, if they are natives, if there is such a thing on the island. Probably everyone who's been there has migrated from somewhere else, including the ancients. But then again, Ben sure seems to have aged freely since we met him as a kid. I wonder what gives there? Maybe he didn't drink the water from the fountain yet? :o)

Thanks for the reminder to watch Runway Memphish, I've been forgetting.

memphish said...

They're marathoning today Capcom if you get bored.

That's an interesting idea Capcom, maybe you have to make your commit to the Island before you're given your FOY access. It would work better though if once you'd been to the FOY you couldn't leave the Island like in Lost Horizon, but Alpert ruins that theory too. I bet Alpert only has 4 toes.

Capcom, if one of the things bigmout said is not correct, does that mean that the other thing IS correct?

I still think caring for Aaron could be Kate's "job" even though her affection for Aaron at the end of Eggtown seems too genuine to be part of the lie. It could be that it just wasn't sold to her that way. She doesn't think of it as her job, events were put in motion to make her want to care for Aaron as her own. She's fulfilling her role and she's not even aware of it. Or Aaron could be her child and not Clarie's. I'm still not completely convinced that Kate's not pregnant.

codysmom, I hear you about remembering three things, but I don't think it's necessarily old-related. I can't remember more than three. That's my limit and always has been. (I think it has something to do with my college drinking days - the next day, I'd try to remember how many beers I had the night before and the best I could remember was "more than 3".)

Capcom, maybe Ben aged as the result of his trips off the island? But then Richard has left the island and he hasn't aged. No, I guess that's not it.

2costa, intersting idea that island blood is keeping people youthful. Maybe that's what they use in trade to get their supplies (And Ben skims money off the top?)

I had a thought after Eggtown aired in Aus and the secret clue drew attention to a 6 of clubs being in Aaron's room. Is there a significance to the cards, as in those particular cards? One way I can think of them having meaning is when they are used for tarot. According to this site the Queen of Diamonds means "A flirtatious woman, one who will interfere in plans. Gossipy, very attractive to males..able to get away with things and interfere in situations.", the 6 of clubs means "A partnership card. Success based on mutual goals and friendship." and the 3 of spades means "Unhappiness: Misfortune in love or marriage. A loss of pride and hope. Do not dwell, move on in life.". Also the 10 of hearts, that Dan suggests is the last card, has this meaning "A good card: means good luck, can counteract bad cards around it."

memphish said...

All right, I threw myself on the grenade that was Doc Jensen's article. There are 2 things in it you might consider spoilers, but they are very general and I don't think my viewing will be ruined by knowing them.

But if you want to be purist, here's how to avoid them. Page 1 of the article skip the tease which really doesn't tell you anything useful anyway. Then on page 3 skip the paragraph labeled the Orchid. Or more specifically don't start reading that paragraph until after the links are given on where to watch the Orchid video for ComicCon.

Doc's musings are interesting as usual. It's a lot like all the ramblings and theorizing we've been doing here and over at Oceanic Conspiracies during the game.

Whatever you do, be sure to read the burning question of the week at the end of page 3 for a good chuckle.

Thanks much for the warning on the virus. That's the last thing I need. My old computer use to be a virus magnet and it would crash about every 3 or 4 months and I'd have to take it to my friend who works on computers for a living to fix it. She'd always give me a good deal.

I kind of like the idea that the tea is the fountain of youth. It does seem to be the beverage of choice and Ben sure was interested in having some. :)

Good Job! on your Fantasy League score. I'm also one of those who lead with their heart instead of their gun. I think I'm going to stay stuck in the 1200's.

The Doc Jensen article has been Spoiler Fixed. Any inconsistencies from last week's post are entirely my fault as Dennis was foolish enough to let me post there. Good reading.

was the six of clubs that apppeared in aarons room one of the same cards that daniel faraday was trying to remember when charlotte was quizzing him?

Tess315 said...

2costa
Based on the screencaps at DarkUFO
the card in the picture on Aaron's wall looks like a 7 of spades to me although it could be a clubs. That's just my opinion. The card Daniel is trying to remember is a 6 of clubs.

2costa said...

i was thinking about it and it seems more and more likely that daniel has some kind of brain disorder, as someone mentioned he had a caretaker on he day flight 815 was found. If you couple that with the card memory test that would make sense. Add in the fact that he was crying when they found 815,it seems to point to some kind of longing to go to the island(maybe to heal himself) and the crash seemed to show island access was restricted or the island was a myth, because as has been mentioned before, the freightys dont seem too surprised that there are any 815 survivors on the island. You can chock up charlotte, miles, and daniel being there for professional pursuits, but frank, being obsessed with 815, seems like hes there for the 815'ers or at least answers, which begs the question why are they on the island if the wreckage is under water, is the island somewhere around the freckage or have the fantastic four already been advised about the fakeness of the 815 discovery?

well regardless its interesting the theme of playing cards was throughout the episode or games of chance in general, with sawyer playing backgammon with locke. I think it ties to the way locke had to beat the chess program to open the flames computer. The tension between predeterminism and free will are always at a tension on the island, games of chance seem to explore those themes. Remember when locke plays backgammon with walt, walt won everytime, so maybe besides attracting birds and showing up places hes not supposed to walts power is too harness luck or fate as well. It reminds me of how Hurley, although people around him have bad luck, seems to have really good luck. Like when he did his indiana Jones dive past one of rousseaus booby traps or when he just barely made it across the rope bridge. It all has to do with perspective. A meteor blowing up mr clucks seems like bad luck, but the fact that hurley was unhurt seems like really good luck. This brings me to my point maybe in the same way hurley seems to share some of walt gifts(hurley seeing jacobs cabin) he may be able to harness good luck or sublimate fate. If there a difference i think Hurley is like a mystical reciever, where as walt is a mystical transmitter. Much like a yin yang, like the backgammon board, a transmitter is useless with out a reciever. So they are equally important roles. If any of this makes sense then I would say locke is in the hurley class of special(receiver), where walt is more of a jacob who can project himself...

2costa said...

It also reminds me of lockes very first flashback where he worked at wall mart and was playing mousetrap. Although moustrap is a game it not so much chance but harnessing cause and effect, this is true with chess as well. Chess is more a game of skill and cause and effect than chance. There are no dice in chess to throw chance into it,which seperates it from other strategy games like risk. In chess your oppurtunitys arise from your oppenents mistakes rather than a random roll of the dice, which is interesting because if your opponent plays a perfect game its all cause and effect. To me its amazing that locke beat the computer at chess because as mikhail said the computer cheats, this ties back to my thought that locke is there because he is a gamer, much like charlie being a musician vastly helped him crack the looking glass jamming code...

Well, I didn't think Doc would spoil us so severely, so I went ahead and read the unedited column.

Crap.

And also, NO WORMHOLES.

Memphish!

THANK YOU for SpoilerFixing that! Sounds like I'm glad I didn't read the full article :)

Happy LOST Day!

Thanks for the heads-up on the Doc Jensen article, Memphish. I don't think it gave away too much...a lot of theory and scientific speculation (very well explained).

There was some discussion over at the Fuselage about Aaron having an Australian accent when he said "Mummy" and not "Mommy" to Kate. Claire was always "Mummy" to Aaron on the island. Now, it just might be a sleepy kid waking up, but my first thought was that he did have an accent. I don't know how that plays into the time line as to when he would have started talking and whether it would have been around Claire (Australian) or Kate (American).

CattyGirl said...

wow darkaardvark - #9. that is impressive!

I'm sure I will drop in rank, but oh well...

I read Doc's article. I found it entertaining and not really spoiling. I - too - don't want to be spoiled. The show is so much better as a surprise!

Unknown said...

I guess my perspective is that I don't want to know anything about any episode other than the one that's coming up next, and even that should be limited in scope. Some of Doc's "things you should keep in mind" have been a little too on-point.

And the mention of a plot point for the episode airing a week from today was too much, especially given its likely importance.

2costa said...

Im with u kyle thats too spoilerish at least by TLC standards

Capcom said...

That's funny, I didn't see Doc's article as spoilery at all. My spoiler-o-meter must be getting desensitized. :-)

Thanks for the heads-up about the Blogger virus/spam Maven!

Hey, guys -

Mr. Mel just sent me this link to some cool new Lost toys:

And some lamer ones:

Huzzah! That was the first time I posted a link that actually worked! :)

So here is my review of the game so far. (Through Episode 4)

Story is intruiging and well told. 9.25 of 10

Controls are sloppy and annoying at times 5.5

Puzzles and games are simple and under developed - 6.75

All and all it is a good sidebar to Lost, but as a stand alone game, so far, it is not that great. The action is slow, the story seems to jump too fast through the shows story.

Overall Rating (keep in mind I am an Avid Gamer and an ex Game tester)

A solid 6, but no higher. All this hype for a game that has limited replay value and is shorter than Lockes temper.

Joseph Finchum said...

P.s. The best part of this game so far is the score, which is as beautiful as it is in the show.

Unknown said...

melissa: Cool! They absolutely nailed Evi's eyes.

What's the story with the rest of the McFarlane figures?

memphish said...

Ded, thanks for the review. Do you the PC version or a different one. I noticed at my local Target today that the PC version of the game was sold out.

Joseph Finchum said...

Kyle aka TBP,

As of right now they are on hold, not cancelled. If they go through, the series 3 figures will be 4 of these Desmond, Sayid, Claire w/ Aaron, Boone, Rose, Bernard, Ana Lucia, Libby, Michael w/ Walt, Ben, and Juliet.

The last listed run was Desmond, Sayid, Claire, and Michael. Plus the Lost series 2 Plane debris boxed set.

This is coming from Al Simmons himself, who answers most of the questions asked of him at the Spawn.com site.

Joseph Finchum said...

I have it for PS3, and have seen the same comments for the X-box build which is the same as the PC version.

Joseph Finchum said...

I will be doing a full review and comment on what it is like after I have finished it, which should be before the show tonight, since the game goes so quickly. Review will prolly be up tomorrow and the Message board will have a brief summery of the game as a whole and a small Faq as well for those who aren't really gamers, but want to play it.

I would say, if I wasn't obsessed like the rest of you, that this game is a rent not buy.

Happy Lost Day!! (finally:)

memphish, thanks for the spoiler-fixed version of Doc Jensen!

dedjezter, thanks for the review. I must say I am disappointed to hear that it's such a fast play and the puzzles and games are lousy. For $60, now I'm not so sure I want to buy it.

ular97 said...

Maybe I will wait for someone to turn one into Game Stop, after they play it. I can get it half price that way. If it isn't that great I will use the bucks on a new swim suit for this summer. lol

Best Buy has the PC version for $30.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I must say that I'm a little disappointed in the review of the game as well. I was hoping for better!

ded - as a reference, did you find the Myst games easy or challenging? Just trying to figure out if the puzzles are too easy, of if you're just much smarter than I am. :)

Last I've heard, wave two of the McFarlane figures is slated for August. I have them on preorder, so I'll try to keep up on the latest. I haven't even seen photos of them yet.

Black Swan said...

dennis, thanks for that info about Best Buy. My platform of choice would be x-box, but at half-price...

As Melissa is asking, what's "easy"? I've completed a few of the Mist games, all of the Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (you get the idea.. I like a LONG game with lots of worlds and mysteries) For ex., I rented the Matrix games because they were a quick play...

maven said...

Dedjezter: Thanks for the review, even if it's not glowing. I'm awaiting the PS3 version, too. Anything LOST intrigues me! LOL

Joseph Finchum said...

Melissa,

I have played all of the MYST games and I love them. I find those games to be challenging. The real problem with the Lost game is that there is only one kind of puzzle, arrange fuses in order to do something... that is it. One type of puzzle for the entire game... is just horrible game development.

And I don't mean to knit pick, but you meant Wave three of the figures right? Wave two was Sun, Jin, Eko, and Sawyer. (with the crash set taken out)

Melissa_Lossa said...

Oh, yeah ded - wave three. Thanks for the catch! Wave two was not as good as wave one in my opinion, so hopefully three will be better.

Bummer about the game. Sounds a bit dull. I also love the Myst games, and found them challenging - which is what I want!

Evenin' ya'll!
I am very excited about tonight's new episode...can't wait to find out how long it takes the helo to reach the freighter (hopefully)!

Is there a chat tonight? If so, where do I find it? I know about the forum, is that it?

xxoo

maven said...

Ellen: I'm always excited on Thursdays lately...I wonder why? LOL

I don't believe we have a chat here at TLC...correct me if I'm wrong. But I did see that DarkUFO has one if you're interested.

Capcom said...

Thanks for the game info Ded, it's much appreciated. I'm curious, how is it for the features that are said to allow fans/players to explore new areas and secrets on the island like stations, terrain, etc., that give further information about DHARMA, etc., than on the show? Tx.

Ellen said...

Thanks for the info, Maven!
I doubt I'll go to DUFO's chat, language is probably as bad there as on the website, so I'll pass...
One of the reasons I love this blog!!!

I'll be here tonight!

Dennis said...

I just bought the game, but I'll probably have to wait until after watching LOST twice and Eli Stone before I can play it.

Should we start a separate post to discuss the game?

maven said...

That would be nice, Dennis. But are there going to be spoilers there? I know there are spoiler videos up at DarkUFO (nice to know they're there in case I have a senior moment and don't get something. LOL) I guess I'm just saying that discussing the game might give too many hints as to how to solve some of the puzzles. We'd have to be careful.

Hi Loco's
Feliz Perdido Noche.
Darkaardvark,you rock.
I am waiting for Via Domos (PC).
From the reviews I've read, most Lost fans will be happy with the game. It may not be the best game ever, but it's a little Island get away that will remind us of the real thing.

Boy, these pop-ups are almost an insult to a regular Lost-o-phile's intelligence. Except for the occasional nugget like Dan's caretaker, this is basic stuff that anyone but a complete noob would know. Oh well.

I was just going to say the same thing! It's like they reverted to the popups in the first ep this season-lame.
Hope we get at least one good reveal before the end...like if Kate has Claire's Aaron....

Ellen said...

I wonder if maybe the reason they aren't giving away any real info in the popups so far is because they plan on exploring everything we have a question about in later episodes?!?...I mean, I really wanted to know if Daniel was doing an esp test, or some kind of memory test with Charlotte and the cards. It seemed like a memory test...

Any word on a new episode post? Dennis, I'm also trusting you to transcribe the pop-ups. I've been watching Zathura with the kid. Fun movie. Arguably somewhat LOST applicable. All I'm saying is Time Sphincter.

Capcom said...

Yeah, that I can understand. But telling Patsy Cline's life story in the pop-ups is not of any interest to us, sheesh.

I've seen Zathura. It was pretty good kid's movie. I liked Jumanji better though.
