«Oldest ‹Older 401 – 495 of 495Hey, guys -
I haven't heard anything back from David yet, but I will let you know ASAP when the next podcast will be, for Alice.
Oh, and ded - thanks for the credit, but it's not me who does the Heroes podcast. :) You're right, someone does do one, but I don't remember who it is. Sorry!
Hey everyone!
Just catching up. Ditto the thought on Cane. I don't want to share Nestor with another show. You gotta love a name like Nestor.
Maven- congratulations on your BEAUTIFUL granddaughter!!! Make sure you get a pic with her wearing her LOST onsie!
Speaking of babies...I was thinking about David/Admin. He and Alli had their baby a couple of weeks ago...they named him Chapman. Nice name even though there's no LOST connection! There are lots of pictures and a labor and delivery countdown on his personal blog here:
Penuel's blog
He's a cutie, too.
scoutpost... thanks for the update on baby admin. Gonna have to check out his blog.
I agree on the Cane stuff. If the show is a hit, then we'll probably never know who or what his character was on Lost and that won't make any of us happy.
Sorry guys, It's been really busy the last couple of weeks but I'm up for an alice podcast on Thursday at 6est.!
Does that sound okay??
Hi passafist. Sounds good to me,but I'm only one of many.
Come back Nestor.
Next weeks TV Guide has some spoilery info about a character on season 4.This will have some Lost Fantasy League folks jumping up and down with glee.
takes a village... I've read a few rumors the last couple of days and if you're talking about who I think you're talking about, I'm sunk.
Oh well.
Scoutpost: Thanks for the link to Chapman's blog! And thanks for your congrats on Elizabeth! Can't wait until she has the Numbers onesie on!
I read that possible spoiler about a character...who ever has that character in the fantasy league might just be getting some points!
I probably won't make the podcast Thursday! :(
Well I hope that Cane does OK, it looks pretty interesting. Is there really a sugar cane mafia? I thought that all the evils of sugar manufacturing died with slavery. What do I know?! But, I do hope that TPTB of Lost will be able to strike up some kind of deal with the Cane PTBs, so we can get Richard back for some shows. It will seem weird and glaringly obvious that Richard is not around after his mysterious appearance.
Maybe TPTB at Lost should start getting better at writing up actors' contracts, or else get better lawyers to draw them up so that they can't skip out. The nerve of some of them getting other jobs.
Congrats Admin Family!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats Admin and Family!!! The pics are great!
Can't do Thursdays for the podcast! :(
Hey, passafist - Thursday works for me. See you then?
Baby admin is so cute!
And if you're talking about the character that I think you are, I think my fantasy stock just went up! ;)
Thursday night? Argh. I can't make that unless it's before 6pm. Sorry!
Congrats to the Penuels! Welcome Prince Chapman, welcome indeed!
I won't be able to make the podcast Thurs., but I'll look forward to it. Don't forget Ange's great post is already up on Lost Bullet Points.
For those of you interested: StationZerO is starting their book club with Stephen King's "The Stand". I read it so many years ago and it is a pretty thick book so I don't think I'll be re-reading it!
There a new post on InsideTheExperience.com, which has some kind of video commemorating the 3 year anniversary of lost. At the very end, it flashes a "6".
Any idea what that might be? Someone suggested it might mean the day the show retruns, as in 2/6/08, which would be a Wednesday...
dennis... don't have the foggiest as to what it means.
Dennis, supposedly that was a commercial that aired on the anniversary of the pilot, 9/22/04 during a college football game on KABC in LA. Doc Arzt posted it at The Tail Section over the weekend and so did DarkUFO. The only place I heard it ran was in LA, but I haven't been checking the comments assiduously.
As for the 6, that speculation was kicked off by Doc Arzt as well.
As for the StationZero book club, boy they are looking for true believers to get people to read The Stand. It's about 1000 pages. I read it last Thanksgiving. It was good, but I don't think it has too many direct ties to LOST unless the Valenzetti Equation and its predictions start raising a much more prominent head in the next 48 episodes. The interwoven stories and numerous characters and good vs. evil are somewhat analogous, but The Stand is much more cut and dry, black and white than LOST.
memphish - I agree about The Stand - that's commitment! Or, WAY more free time than I have. :) There are the obvious similarities in the good vs evil themes and the ideas of faith and destiny, but I don't know beyond that. I'm sure you could find tons to talk about - we could fill a few podcasts!
I do know that The Stand has been mentioned as an influence on the creators, but I tend to see it in terms of overall themes and tones, rather than specifics.
Interesting promo, dennis. I can't wait for Lost stuff to start showing up on TV! :)
Oh, dennis - could you change the date for the Alice podcast on the main page to September 27? Sounds like we're on for tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET. Thanks!
True about The Stand, it's a long one fershurr, but good. And you're right, good and bad have very distinct lines drawn between them in that story. Even Nadine and Harold are really bad guys just sitting on the good side for a while.
Are we sure that's not an "8" slightly covered by the water/clouds in that promo? I wonder if "6" is the new "8" this year. :-)
You are correct Melissa... sorry.
It is Emily from Ohio that does the Heroes podcast...
I knew it was the girl that does the podcast with David... lol I was close.
By The way A very belated Thank You For all the B-day wishes above.
And I updated my Avi... can you see it now Mav?
LOL: Yes, dedjezter, I can see it now!
("Live" from Purgatory......it's.................Chucklez3)!!!!!!!
There is to much to try to catch up on, so I won't really try. However, I just spoke with a2bh and figured I'd let you all know I still exist.......even if on another "plane". Haha.
Well, I will type more later. Miss you all.
---Dan
Hey!
Welcome Back Chucklez!!
Hey, Chucklez! We missed you! Hope you're settled in with your new life!
Welcome back Chucklez!
Melissa_Lossa said... Oh, dennis - could you change the date for the Alice podcast on the main page to September 27? Sounds like we're on for tomorrow at 6 p.m. ET. Thanks!
I updated the front page.
Interesting avi Ded, been dieting much? :o)
Hey Chucklez, hope that all is well.
Congrats to Maven!
Belated Congrats to Admin!
Congrats on the new house to Thrasher!
I had alot of reading to do.
Halloween is right around the corner and I'm thinking about being a dead Hydra employee. I have a shirt and I figured I could do zombie makeup and carry around a clipboard with Shark and Polar Bear information. Maybe I'll include a bite to my arm like one of the animals killed me. What do you think? Any suggestions?
eh. been here nearly 3 weeks and no job yet. UGH!!!! and i'm runnin low on cash and behind on my car payment and child support!! Other than that, everything's peachy!! Thanks for asking. hahahaha
I think the stress has made me ill and I'm eating too much and not exercising. I'm going to self-destruct i think. hahaha.
Anyhoo....any new word on anything lost or slusho related???
oh and Ange picked up "THE THIEF OF ALWAYS". Can't wait to see what she thinks!!!
Talk to you all later.
oh and Ange picked up "THE THIEF OF ALWAYS". Can't wait to see what she thinks!!!
She is on chapter 4 and thinks it is WONDERFUL so far!
Hey, did anyone sign on for the Alice podcast today? I was having trouble getting through, and I never heard anyone. Sorry about that!
Hey, chucklez - good to see you back. Hope things improve for you. Remeber, we're all pulling for you!
Did the podcast happen? Sorry I wasn't home this afternoon and couldn't be there.
I had to miss it, had a prior committment.
I hope someone called in, I'm really looking forward to what ya'll had to say about Ange's bullet points!
Was there a podcast? I'm looking to download on Talk Shoe but there's nothing there?
Hey guys - looks like the podcast never happened. David and I will reschedule for next week, and let you know when it's going to be. Sorry about that!
Ok I'm confused. If there wasn't a podcast on Thursday then what am I listening to that downloads automatically to my computer in my iTunes? The discussion is about the Wizard of Oz. Was that podcast done some other time? Or are you guys talking about another podcast on a different book?
Sayid'sgirl: There was supposed to be podcast about the Alice books (Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass). The Wizard of Oz was the last one. I guess it's going to be next week now.
Thanks Maven
I think what was confusing me is even though it's posted that the podcast is about the Alice books, the picture on the front page is still The Wizard of Oz.
You know I thought that podcast sounded familiar. Duh! The older I get the less memory I have. :)
I think Dennis will put up an "Alice" post when we finally have a podcast to discuss so he can post a link to it.
I get confused too, Sayid'sgirl.
Yeah I know that's what Dennis does. I just wasn't thinking. :)
Glad to know I'm not alone in the confusioin department.
Hey Chucklez. Wishing you the best. Still out of town. Got some Oz pictures to share next week.
FYI: Our gal, Michelle Rodriguez seems to still be having problems with the law. Seems she violated her probation and may be facing jail time.
Wow... my post wasn't acknowledged at all. Hello? Can anyone read this?
i think that costume sounds cool, marvin candle or ben would be cool just carry a bunny around while wearing a labcoat, 15 or 8 on the side of the bunny respectively. Or maybe be the bunny, get a big bunny suit and a 8 stencil and some black spraypaint...
Sorry about that cattygirl! Thanks for the congrats!
How about dressing all in black and stomp around and just stare people down on Halloween? Smoke monster, anyone? LOL
Tuesday, 6pm... That's when I'd finally like to do the alice podcast. Melissa do you have a list of questions yet??
I will be there in spirit on Tuesday at 6:00 pm...otherwise I'm just gonna have to download it after the fact like usual. Someday I am going to make a podcast, I just know it. There's still October, November, December, and January's books :D.
Anyone else finding The Third Policeman difficult to get through?
Ange: Yes, I had to cheat and read a synopsis! LOL
Maven: I'm so relieved to hear that I'm not the only one. I was starting to think I wasn't part bicycle enough to read that book.
Passafist said... Tuesday, 6pm... That's when I'd finally like to do the alice podcast. Melissa do you have a list of questions yet??
I updated the front page again.
chucklez3 said... Anyhoo....any new word on anything lost or slusho related???
Sorry to hear about your situation.
There is lots of new Slusho! stuff actually. A new website was found over the weekend - Tagruato.jp. Check out my Cloverfield site for more info...
David -
I just resent my Alice questions to you. Let me know if you don't get them.
PS - anyone have a good cure for tendonitis? Ouch!
Sorry about the tendonitis Melissa_Lossa. Unfortunately I think the main treatment is don't use whatever body part is involved and take Motrin.
I was in Chicago last week and wanted to share these photos of my son in Oz Park in the Lincoln Park neighborhood. We didn't find the lion (well we didn't look), but we got the other big 3.
Great pics, Memphish. I didn't even know there was an Oz Park!
Sorry about your tendonitis, Melissa_lossa. Rest and non-use is probably the best cure. Maybe a cortisone shot?
I think I can make the podcast tomorrow, though I might be a little late.
And, Dennis: I'm still checking out your Cloverfield blog for all the latest news! Thanks.
ya i live in chicago the oz park used to just have the tinman i believe, but i think they have all three now, im gonna look at the picks and find out. I really wanna know when the mobisodes are going to hit???
Thanks for the tips, ladies - sounds like I'm doing all I can. I have the motrin, and I'm trying not to move it too much. Kind of hard though, when its in my arm and I'm stuck at work typing! :(
Cool photos, Memphish! I never even knew that park existed.
We didn't know the park existed either. We'd gone to a restaurant called Toast for breakfast. You should check it out 2Costa. The stuffed French toast was fantastic. And walking from there to Lincoln Park to go the zoo, we walked right past it. It also had a set of flower gardens in it named the Emerald City gardens. That was where the Scarecrow was. Interestingly, the Scarecrow and Tin Man were shown after they'd received their diploma and heart from the Wizard. Seeing the Oz stuff I thought of our book club and wanted to share the photos.
Has anyone been watching "Tell Me You Love Me" on HBO?
One of the main characters is Sonya Walger (Penny Widmore), and last night and on next weeks episode, Ian Somerhalder (Boone) has a guest role.
* Warning, this is an R rated show.
memphish
How ironic you would run across a Wizard of Oz park when it was one of the books in our club. That must have been pretty cool. Nice pictures thanks for sharing. Nice looking young man you have there too.
OZ Park? how cool.
Nice pics Memphish.
I think The Third Policeman would be easier without the footnotes. It makes a complicated yarn, even harder to comprehend. It also makes the Alice books look like kid stuff.
takes a village: My favorite footnote is the one that goes on for 4 pages!
memphish: Great pics and stuffed French toast sounds throw-me-over-the -edge good!
Ange: I want to be the first here to wish you Happy Birthday tomorrow! :)
maven: "!" and also :D
If anyone watched Traveler, this supposedly tells what was supposed to happen.
According to Kristin at E! there's supposed to be a LOST shout-out on Chuck tonight. She also has a specific LOST spoiler, so don't watch the latest Watch with Kristin video if you don't want to know.
I also heard a clip for "30 Rock" this week in which Jerry Seinfeld mentions LOST! I won't give away the joke!
BTW Memphish: Thanks for that Traveler link. I emailed it some people I know that watched that series, too. It was very cool to get closure like that! LOL I hope we get that in the next 3 years with Lost!
ya chuck is supposed to know who downed 815, i went to the park memphis but all they had was the tinman, but those new ones look cool. I am actually from the southside, so licoln park is pretty far, but ill check it out, but not til the cubs are out of the playoffs, us sox fans dont care for the cubs...
happy birthay ange
Melissa, are you sure it's tendonitis and not carpel-tunnel from typing? Try wearing one of those Ace hand/wrist support things when you type, that helped my friend out somewhat. It will also help to keep the area warm, like the way that ballerinas wear leg-warmers to keep the muscles and tendons warm and loose when they dance. Other than that, I'm afraid my experience with that agrees with what has been said already...mostly only time makes it better. :-(
Hey Memphish, I hope your trip to Chicago was restful. You deserve it! And what a handsome boy you have in those pictures.
Ange, happy birthday!!!!! Go ahead and make 108 wishes!
Only 126 more days to LOST.
Cattygirl, I love your costume idea. Will you be around people who will 'get' it? Last year I carved "Save Joop" in a pumpkin and had to explain who Joop was to everyone. It was funny, seeing the look on their faces though!
RIP, NY Mets. Once again, we'll wait till next year.
Melissa, sorry you are hurting. Ibuprofen or naproxen sodium is what I would take, 'cause of the anti-inflammatory effect. The wrist guard is helpful too, but I think the best thing is rest. What does your doctor say?
Pray for Chucklez!
I think I can be around for the Alice podcast tomorrow, so I guess I'll see ya'll then.
Thanks for the early wishes everyone!
I don't need 108, I wish for...Lost to be on please, and for everyone in this community to be well, find happiness, and enjoy the things we have all been given in life. Not quite 108 but I think that about covers it.
Oh, and did I mention I wish for Lost to be on ;).
A2BH, my trip was anything but restful since I was constantly attended by the 8-year-old while Hubby was in meetings most of the day. Navigating bus routes and museums was more work than I do around here most days. But it was a lot of fun. I can rest later.
Melissa_Lossa said... Thanks for the tips, ladies - sounds like I'm doing all I can. I have the motrin, and I'm trying not to move it too much. Kind of hard though, when its in my arm and I'm stuck at work typing! :(
Is it your mouse arm? I had really bad tendonitis in my right arm from a really un-ergonomic setup at my old work. I was on the Ibuprofen 800s every day plus a wrist brace for a while. What really helped me was switching to use the mouse with my left hand while I'm at work.It still use my right at home. It took a while to get used to it, but it made a big difference!
As far as a wrist brace/wrap, I recommend Thermoskin. It has a special fabric lining that increases bloodflow. I have the Universal Wrist Wrap that I wear when my wrist really bothers me, and I can even sleep with it on.
Thanks for all of the tips, everyone! I did go to the doctor a couple of weeks ago when it was hurting, and he said that it was a form of tendonitis commonly referred to as "golfer's elbow," which I could understand if I golfed. Strangely, dennis, it's not my mouse hand, so I'm not sure what caused it. I do have some motrin 800 and I've been doing the ice/heat thing.
It's feeling better today, but I'll keep an eye on it - if it gets bad again, I'll check out a brace. Thanks for the Thermoskin recommendation, dennis. Sounds good!
Happy birthday, Ange!
Can't you get a tennis elbow type brace for golfer's elbow? I think you put it so that it braces the inside of your arm vs. outside. It's something like tennis elbow affects the bicep and golfer's elbow the tricep or vice versa. I know for tennis, if you get tennis elbow it means your hitting the ball late, too out in front. Since the ball isn't moving in golf, I don't know if that also applies.
I think there is a brace that you can get. When I went to the doctor, he said to try just the motrin first, and if that didn't help, to come back and he would get me a brace. So far, although the pain comes and goes, the motrin seems to be helping.
I've never played golf in my life, aside from a few rounds of putt putt, so I'm thinking that it must be from typing instead.
The doctor that I saw was not my regular doctor, and I think I might get another opinion when I see my regular doctor next month. :)
Happy Happy Ange! I hope it's a good one.
Happy Birthday Ange!!
Happy Birthday Ange!
Have a wonderful Birthday, Ange!
Happy Birthday Ange!
Ange.....Happy Birthday!! Really enjoy your "lost bullet points"
Have a great day.
THANK-YOU everyone!!! I *heart* this place :D
Ange, I just had a thought about your elbow...when I was playing a lot of pc games a while back I got a neck and shoulder strain that mystified the docs until a massage therapist suggested I check the height of my chair. Turns out that the was the culprit! Even thought it's not your wrist that is hurt, it could be a different piece of the ergonomic equation that is affecting your elbow.
Hey, for what it's worth.
Happy Lost Birthday to Ange,
Happy Lost Birthday to Ange,
Happy Lost Birthday,
Happy Lost Birthdaaaaaaaay,
Happy Lost Birthday to Ange!
(I change it so I don't have to pay royalties for singing it online) :o)
You're right Amused, even just changing the height of the reach can make all the difference in irritation!
Thanks for the tip, ladies. :) I'll try adjusting my chair at work.
Hope to hear you all on the podcast!
OT question for anyone who watches "Journeyman": I've been sort of watching it, but not paying too much attention to getting back to the TV in time after the commercials are over, so I've missed some things. Do we know why he is time jumping yet? Thanks for any answers. :-)
It's HEEEEERRRRREEEE!!!

Join in on the fun of the latest Lost Community Bookclub Podcast. Host David A. Dein and Melissa_Lossa tackle the books "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" and it's connection to the hit ABC TV Show Lost.
Capcom: I haven't seen last night's epi yet! So I don't know if we learn anything more about why he's tripping so much. I got the feeling it has something to do with his dead girlfriend after watching the first episode.
Just wanted to apologize for crashing in on the end of the podcast. I was having technical difficulties, and I thought I was just listening LOL. Hopefully I have it all worked out for the next one!
Capcom
No they haven't told us why he's time traveling yet. But he thinks his fiancee' is tracking him. She says she doesn't know if she is.
I think it's interesting we have another time traveling Scot on tv. The actor not the character.
Thanks for everyone who joined in to the podcast today!
Jess, don't worry about crashing the party. :) To be honest, it was a little sad not having you there - I think you've been on almost every one so far!
maven, david - always a pleasure. ;)
OMG you people are nuts! I can't believe you sang!
One thing I will say, people who love Alice in Wonderland LOVE Alice in Wonderland (David).
I feel very nervous that The Third Policeman is supposedly integral to Lost. That has me worried as the book is just so complex in a weird and confusing sort of way. To be fair I am only about 3/4 through, and am way to full of cake to figure it all out tonight. THANKS for including my in the podcast by proxy.
As always, I enjoyed it! Great questions as usual Melissa. Great job David, and great discussion.
Ange: I'm counting on your Bullet Points for "The Third Policeman" to explain everything to me! LOL
Hope you're full of cake by now!
Ange, I got you a birthday present...
NEW POST!!!!!
