Have you guys noticed it's getting harder and harder to avoid spoilers on other sites? Spoilers are starting to pop up everywhere. Personally, I don't want to know anything, even who's been spotted in Hawaii!

Happy birthday, Experimental Film!

Maven, I am so sorry to hear of your precious Pumpkin's loss. From one cat lover to another please accept my virtual {hugs} and sympathies. I cry with you, sister.

Here's Chucklez' new phone number. You can text him or call, he would love it!
205-563-3535, and yes I have his permission to post it here. As of last weekend he was still submitting his resumes all over, so keep praying he finds a good job in Alabama. And a permanent place to live (not the motel he's staying in).

Capcom said...

Maven, I know what you mean about spoilers. Some people, like myself, must be letting down their spoiler guards a bit. I've decided that I don't care if I find out who's filming.....just so I don't start getting the Lost "DTs". :o)

I don't want to know WHAT they are filming tho! That's for sure.

BTW: Has anyone heard anymore re the rumor of the new day and time for LOST? (Monday at 8pm)

memphish said...

I saw that Maven. For me it would mean that I would never get to see it in real time. That's 7 pm Central time which is pre-kiddo bedtime. I'd have to DVR it, hope it didn't run long so that I didn't miss the start of Heroes which I hope doesn't run long because hubby wants to watch CSI:Miami. I'd forsee it being after 10 pm before I could actually watch it. I guess that would have me primed for chatting online with the West Coast contingent. :)

Ange said...

Commenting from my new iPhone. Woo hop! It may go back to the store though I'm just not sure I love it. But also, WOE I have to miss the podcast again for open house at school. Somehow I think the parents who show up might frown on that;).
Love the cat amused.
maven: where did you hear that time rumor? I have to say I'm a fan of earlier.

jess4ua said...

SNEAKY Ange!

Congrats on the iPhone, Ange! I saw the rumor over at the Tailsection and it was discussed on ITE.

BTW: Happy Rosh Hashana to those who celebrate the Jewish New Year.

To Everyone

My ninja skills have been severely limited here at work. They have started blocking all "social networking" sites, like MySpace, YouTube, etc, AND The Lost Community. Blogger itself is not blocked, so I think the word "community" in the title is causing the problem. :( This means I can no longer "see" the front page. Luckily, I have this thread bookmarked. Hopefully, this won't affect my being able to create new posts, etc. I haven't had any problems with CloverfieldClues, so cross your fingers!

Maven

Very sorry to hear about your loss ;(

TheBookPolice, (or anyone really)

There is a new video on my Cloverfield blog, and in the background is a framed document. Look like it may be a page from an old book or something. It's impossible to read it in the video, but i was hoping you might recognize it as something important/significant/etc..

Thanks!

FYI: DarkUfo is now confirming that the move to Monday is more than a rumor, although ABC hasn't announced it. His source confirmed it. The time was not mentioned, but I've seen it as 8pm. Heroes and 24 are on at 9pm. What do you guys think? I'd watch it whenever it was on.

Capcom said...

Ack! Mondays at 8? That will mostly work for me, at least it's not directly opposite Heroes...but you're right about things running long...Thank God I have two vcrs and can tape each just in case (Lost is a keeper, Heroes will get taped over once watched a few times).

I'll just have to move my kid's bedtime more toward 7:30 so I can be in front of the TV at 8pm. Easier said than done, eh Memphish?

Happy Rosh Hashana to you too Maven! New Year, new grandbaby, lots to look forward to. Prayers for those lost in the old year.

Dennis, wow that stinks that you can't access the blog from work. How dare they expect you to just do their stuff when you are there? The cheek! ;)

HOORAY that it's not on at 10... and just HOORAY in general that it's that much closer to February. That is all :D.

jess4ua said...

I definitely think 8:00pm is better. Especially since I will probably have to watch it twice. To count my LFL points, that is! ;)

Capcom said...

Nice to see you here again Barbarajay!

That's weird about Stationzero Maven. I hope that everything has been worked out. We are very blessed here, it's not easy to put yourself out there for the entire universe to critique. Except for here, where everyone is so friendly.

Darkaardvark said...

8:00, that's very early... I don't know a lot about the logistics of television, but won't that mean they have to scale back a lot of the intense stuff they had last year (on-screen strangling of Cooper, shooting of Colleen, etc. etc.)?

Also, Monday stinks for me because it means I can't watch it live. Oh well.

maven said...

8 PM is great for me. It will probably mean that I will be able to talk with more of you guys since it will only be midnight versus 1 AM by the time the west coast is done!

maven said...

Just popping in: Yea! Terry won! Awesome. He gave such a great speech!

Scoutpost said...

Yeah for Terry! Of course I was hoping that Michael or Terry would win, but I didn't think they would- so what a pleasant surprise. I agree Maven, he gave probably the best speech of the night- funny, concise, thankful, etc. So much better than those rambling, boring, politically charged thank yous that some people give.

Have a great week ya'll.

memphish said...

8 pm Eastern is too early for me to watch as it airs. Guess DarkAardvark and I should schedule a viewing party. Hopefully I'll be able to watch on Monday some time before the West Coasters hit the boards. But the reality is airing it at 7pm Central on Monday probably means I'll have to watch it at 10 pm Central -- an hour LATER than last year.

memphish said...

Has anyone else noticed Lostpedia's new front page feature "Today in LOST History?" Today Gary Troup was interviewed about "Bad Twin." It's at the bottom of the page. I wish it was a widget I could stick on my blog.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good morning, LoCos. :)

I am personally excited about the switch to 8 p.m. 10 was just so late! By the time I watched the show, and then chatted with you all, it was way past my bedtime.

And I don't know how much it would effect the content of the show. 24 shows a few episodes every season at 8 p.m., and they sure don't pull any punches!

Tess315 said...

You have a point melissa_lossa. The Networks don't really seem to have a family hour like back in the day or seem to concerned to have one. Most of the comedies that are on at 8:00 aren't very family friendly.

maven said...

Morning all: Hopefully, the 8PM time slot will mean I'll be able to participate more in Lost-night discussions with a lot of you!

It will be interesting to see how the show gets around the "family" hour, especially as we have been led to believe that there will be some conflicts next season that could add some violence to the show. But that "family" hour concept sure has been stretched pretty thin in recent years!

So happy for Terry (unfortunately, both Terry and Michael couldn't win). His speech was touching and to the point, and loved his bright pink shirt!

BTW: Has anyone noticed that StationZero seems to be gone, sort of. The site is still up, but all the postings and comments are gone. I know that they were talking about shutting it down because of some ill-will among the posters. Maybe this is the first step for that.

memphish said...

I'm not really that worried about what they can and can't show at 8 vs. 10. I think it was a little too violent/sexy last year as it was. It aired at 8 pm in S1 and they showed spurting blood, Charlie hung from a tree, Boone's guts hanging out, Charlie shooting Ethan 6 times, etc.

But b/c it's not family friendly, I can't watch it at 7. I got in trouble with hubby last year for screaming at Jack to kill Ben for "killing" Sayid's group during the finale as it was, not to mention that no one is allowed to do much but breathe when I'm watching LOST. So for family sanity, I've got to wait until post-kid bedtime to watch it.

And because hubby and I watch other Monday shows I'll have to wait until late to watch LOST which I don't like. I prefer watching it as it airs complete with commercial break breathing and commenting time. Maybe I'll try to synch up with the West Coast audience. It's not like I need to be that awake on Tuesday mornings anyway. :)

While it's nice that we have something to talk about right now, it will be interesting to see how the schedule really looks come February. What if Chuck takes off? What if Heroes flops? What if they can't get a script for 24? What if they run out of prisons for Prison Break to break in/out of? I just hope ABC is truly committed to the 48 episodes irregardless of the effects of its scheduling decisions.

Amused2bHere said...

yay Terry O'Quinn! loved his acceptance speech. Now that's the way to do it. Brief and gracious.

Maven, any news on the baby watch?

speaking of babies, any one hear anything about lil' admin? all is well, I hope.

heh heh, that means it's only 140 days to LOST. Let the countdown commence!

maven said...

Amused: Elizabeth is scheduled to be born Thursday morning (the 20th) at 8:30 AM! Thanks for asking...can't wait!

I was also just thinking about Mr. and Mrs. Admin and admin-to-be! David: How are you guys doing?

The clip of Terry accepting his award is up at DarkUfo.

Black Swan said...

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A BIG CONGRATS TO TERRY!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as Lost on at 8pm on Mondays, it works for me, but sorry for those that it won't.

I agree, maven, that the "family" hour concept sure has been stretched pretty thin in recent years". It must be hard for those with kids to decide what (if any) shows are appropriate anymore.

Black Swan said...

Aw, maven.... how exciting!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the name Elizabeth (it's my daughter's middle name:)

(And thanks for the info abt. the clip of Terry accepting his award at DarkUfo)

Capcom said...

Ditto the "yays!" for Terry O'Q! Yes, too bad that they couldn't tie, but TOQ deserved it more because he has been there literally since "Day 1". Michael can win next year, I'm sure his part will be very dramatic this season. I like Terry's sparkely tie!

I agree Memphish, last season escalated to some pretty non-family levels, and didn't LOST get the "best show for families" award for S1 or S2? The lingering close camera shot up Kate's dress made me lose some respect for the show, for one.

Tess315 said...

I have cable so my daughter watches the Disney channel most of the time. She also watches shows like Are you smarter than a fifth grader and Don't forget the lyrics things like that. But as far as mainstream primetime television no way.

Melissa_Lossa said...

I'm glad that I don't have any kids to worry about. Sounds like all of you mom's out there have your work cut out for you. :) Mr. Melissa just wanders out of the room when Lost starts, so I'm on my own.

However, at the end of the last season, he started hanging around more and more - which is good and bad. Good because I like to have someone else who knows what's going on, but bad because he always wants to talk during the show!

My only difficulty on Mondays is that when 24 does a double episode, I'll have to decide which to watch in real time (Mr.'s a 24 fan as well, so I think I know who will win that one). That doesn't happen too often, though - and hopefully since Lost has a shorter season, 24 will begin and end without overlapping.

Maven - keep us posted on the baby news! :)

maven said...

Will do, melissa_lossa!

Lost is one of the few shows I have to watch in real time and can't wait for a DVR showing! The commercial breaks let me take a breath and peak at the comments up til then. My husband has gotten into the show (we've watched S1 and 2 and are waiting for S3 to comeout). We're also watching season 1-6 of 24 (we're in the middle of S4). They're so much better on DVD, one after another with no commercials! If there's a conflict with Lost, we'll definitely DVR 24 and watch it without commercials. Same thing with Heroes. It will be interesting to see how watching Lost with my husband will be. Any tips anyone?

jess4ua said...

Maven, that is so exciting! I know it will be a loooong few days. LOL

I have to agree with all the moms in here. I have a 9yr old and a 4yr old, and I don't let them watch any primtime. As a matter of fact, if it weren't for cable kids stations, I don't think I would let them watch anything on TV.
However, I think, if I had to, I would rather have them watch LOST(and the content within) rather than any of the crude sitcoms that come on primetime. :)

memphish said...

I agree with the no broadcast TV for the kiddo. He gets to watch some sports (but turn off the commercials!), but he'd rather watch Boomerang or Cartoon Network or Animal Planet. Mostly I just leave the TV off in the evenings and we play a game as part of our bedtime routine. Occasionally when he spends the night at my mom's he'll watch Dancing with the Stars or American Idol or So You Think You Can Dance.

While I was watching football this weekend, CBS kept running promos for "Kid Nation" where the announcer would read the part in big letters from the reviewer that said "TV parents and kids can watch together," but I noticed that in smaller print above that was "there's a need for . . ." In other words -- it was a totally misleading promo.

As for watching LOST with a spouse. Mine started pulling a Mr. Melissa_Lossa at the end of last season as well, hanging out, asking questions. It's like going to a movie. You have to set ground rules for whether you talk or don't talk while its going.

Exciting news about Elizabeth Maven. We can't wait for the grandma gushing to begin.

maven said...

Ground rules sound like the way to go, Memphish! LOL Only talking during the commercials!

I know that watching S1 & S2, it was very difficult to keep my mouth shut. I couldn't help myself and kept saying: "This is important"; "Did you notice that?"

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good to know that someone else feels my pain! I mean, I appreciate that he's interested, but he has to learn to save his questions for the commercials! :)

The worst part is, he's only seen a few episodes from season 3, so his questions go all the back to the beginning!

Scoutpost said...

As for the new time slot- guess it does not make much difference to me. I always had to DVR it anyway because of kids bedtime. I totally agree with you other moms about TV. Like memphish said- you have to be careful even in the middle of the day if sports is on, just because of the commercials!
It does seem a little insensitive of ABC to put it on Monday nights opposite Heroes and 24 though. I mean don't these networks realize that it's the same exact audience that watches LOST, 24, Heroes and Jericho?! Why in the world would they want to make us choose like that?

Maven- exciting news about the upcoming due date! Keep us posted. I was thinking about you and Admin recently regarding the babies. Hope David and family are doing well.

Dennis said...

Scoutpost, Lost will be on at 8:00, and Heroes and 24 are on at 9:00 PM - so there shouldn't be a direct conflict.

Still, that's a lot to think about in one night. :)

This fall, Mondays will make your head explode!

memphish said...

Winter, Dennis. :(

Capcom said...

OT: something that I found slogging around old Lost sites today..."If you look closely, you can see that underneath the words 'The Black Rock' on the ship is the word 'Portsmouth.' Portsmouth, U.K. was the location where the first ship set sail for Australia carrying convicts in the 1800s. I think it’s far more likely that it’s a convict ship instead of a slave ship."

Did we know or think this? I haven't looked it up on Wiki yet to confirm. Interesting tho.

Also, if you haven't checked in on bigspaceship1.com (no www) in a while, there is a funny old foreign version of the Star Trek ep about the salt sucking monster on there right now. :o)

Tess315 said...

capcom
I knew that the Black Rock had the word Portsmouth on it but never put it together.Thanks.
I'm not sure but I think Locke said something about it being a slave ship, but I could be wrong would have to check the dvd. That may where we got it from.
If it came from Australia I personally would lean more toward a convict ship.

memphish said...

OT Capcom? That's more On Topic than most of the stuff on this thread. :)

Here's the Lostpedia page for The Black Rock info. from TLE. It says:

The Black Rock disappeared in 1881, on a return voyage from a gold mining operation in the South Indian Ocean. Perhaps more interesting than the fact the ship was lost were the circumstances preceding and following its disappearance. According to traders on Papua New Guinea, the ship sailed away from port in an Easterly direction, rather than West to Africa, where it would exchange gold from the mines in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea for more slaves. According to the ship's manifest that was discovered, the Black Rock initially sailed from (and was supposed to return to) slip 23 in Portsmouth, Britain -- but no shipping company claimed ownership. A crew of some 40 men, along with an uncounted number of slaves, was presumably lost at sea.

So while the ship may have been used to get to Australia at some point, that doesn't seem to be what Magnus was up to when it went missing.

Tess315 said...

You're fast Memphish.
I was just reading that at Lostpedia. I had forgot about the reference in TLE until I seen the picture on the page. No mention of Locke saying it was a slave ship, but I'm pretty sure he did to Kate when Kate seen the skeletons in chains.

Capcom said...

Thanks friends! I forgot about the TLE info too.

Well, by OT I meant not on the topics of the book talk and Emmys for this week. :o)

memphish said...

Sayid's Girl, Locke says:

Slaves. This ship must have been in route to a mining colony... probably set off from the eastern coast of Africa... Mozambique.

I remember noting to myself when I rewatched this recently, "How would Locke know that there were mining colonies and/or slaves from Mozambique?" Then I remembered that he watched Expose, and I figured that's where the information came from. :D

memphish said...

BTW Sayid's Girl, Lost Hatch is a great resource, especially for transcripts.

i just wonder if what we saw in the cabin was jacob or the wizards lastline of defense, his best trick. What if Jacobs cabin was more like the flame and had a trap door with a subbasement and the whole hacob going crazy thing is so nobody finds the trap door. Perhaps the super computer hatch that i always think we will someday see is under jacobs cabin. I read something about damon saying the names are signifcant referring to jacob, so i was wondering is jacob really is Ben's father as in the bible. Might explain why his mother's essence at least seamingly was on the island, but maybe richard or whoever just worked ben and it was the smoke like with eko and yemmy. Another thing i though of that seems fitting is that the whole gruffy jacob was just a ruse like when we saw Tom for the first time. That is just like the lost producers to try to sneak one by us twice, which might also might explain why they didnt seek a permanent jacob til this summer, because he was not really jacobi.e smoke or he was jacob in disguise. The info about the black rock got me thinking that even if those slave ship people are the others there would have to be a nonaging thing like we have thought with richard, because the fertility problem has probably always been there on the island. I think i pointwed out before that in the wizard of oz canon it is said that no babies are born in oz.

What if Juliet's sister is really her BROTHER. That the amazing thing about this pregnancy (and ultimate birth) is that she is actually a man having gone through a surgical alteration. Perhaps this is why they REALLY want her on the island; because gosh....if you can get a man pregnant, surely you can get a woman pregnant.

Ok. I'm delusional from lack of Lost. Please forgive as this is so out there it's laughable.

Ahoy Maties! We are having lots of TLEC 1-year anniversaries.

Thanks Maven. ;-)

Interesting ideas 2costa. I wonder if the Others used to dress like that also for Jacob's benefit. Maybe since he doesn't like technology, he doesn't like new clothes. :o) And maybe you have to talk-like-a pirate to Jacob if he is Magnus.

We MAY get some info on Fourtoes Sayidsgirl? Sheesh, I was hoping that since we will be going to the Temple that we would get some background info on the natives, I'm looking forward to that angle of the show. Rats.

I missed that Ib4UC, I hope thatI can catch the next one.

Capcom said...

Hi Olerica! Hey Rachel being a transformer, etc, is not so weird going by Lost standards. And it only means that TPTB gave us a HUGE hint with the info on those med papers! Won't we slap our foreheads if that's the case, and we brushed it off as a prop goof.

Tess315 said...

You know guys I never thought that mentioning the four toed statue stuff here might be considered a spoiler I'm sorry if I upset anyone. It's just that it's been so long since we've gotten any possibe hints on Lost that I forgot myself. So sorry if it bothered anyone.

sayid'sgirl... I would hope Bernard's role on KVille is short-lived. It wouldn't be the same if it was just Rose and no Bernard.

S'okay with me Sayidsgirl, I know what you mean, I've done it too. :-O It wasn't very specific tho.

Good news for fans of 24 and LOST. Today Fox announced that the only time this season they plan to air an episode beginning at 8pm Easter/Pacific is in January for the premier on Sunday. The Monday shows will all air at 9 pm, so no conflict with an 8 pm LOST airtime. Now let's just hope ABC doesn't get all tricky with the extended episodes that run to 9:03.

maven said...

That's great news, Memphish. Those :03 past the hour airings are pretty devious by the networks. We tend to DVR everything and give it a "head start" by about 20 min, so we can zip through commercials until the end. We hate when the dreaded "catch up" happens, though! LOL

Amused2bHere said...

At least Chucklez will be happy to hear about the 4toed statue! lol

Even if it's a red herring planted by our buddy Darlton, at this point even wrong news is good news, I wouldn't worry about it being a spoiler, Sayid'sgirl.

TIME Magazine ran the article "17 Shows That Changed TV". Here's what it says about Lost:

It's a misnomer, actually, to call Lost one of TV's best shows. It's a fine show on the level of character and writing, but what makes it a classic is that it's the finest interactive game ever to appear in your living room once a week. An elaborate fractal pattern of intersecting stories concerning plane survivors on a not-quite-deserted island, a secretive international organization and a monster made of smoke--Lost only begins with the 60 minutes you see on TV. Its mysteries, clues and literary-historical allusions demand research, repeated viewing, freeze-framing and endless online discussions. And in a medium in which executives assume that viewers will flee anything that remotely challenges them, Lost proves that millions of people will support a difficult, intelligent, even frustrating story--as long as you blow the right kind of smoke at them.

The whole article is at TIME.

Melissa_lossa: Thanks for that 24 news! We haven't seen S5 yet, so it was a little spoilery for me. (We're 1/2 way through S4 now)! Arg!

Also, thanks for the podcast update, too!

Oh, maven - I'm so sorry! I never thought about that! I'll delete that post and repost it here with a spoiler warning:

*****24 Spoiler********

For all of you 24 fans out there, TV Guide has a story on their home page right now about some casting news that I am so excited about, I did a little dance in my office. Huzzah!

*******End Spoiler***********

Also, there is no podcast today, unless David has planned one on his own. I haven't heard back from him on when he wanted to do it, but I'm planning on next Tuesday or Wednesday.

"I remembered #1 -- It was is Isabel really dead because you said so on the S3 DVDs?"

Am I missing something? I didn't think the season 3 DVDs were out yet.

@earlier comment about the Others wearing primitive clothing for Jacob's benefit: I doubt it. Remember when Michael went to Fake-Othersville and talked to Walt? He tried to say they were pretending before Ms. Klugh took him away. There's also a reference to room 23 if you listen carefully.

Poor Walt!

Even if you haven't watched any of the other episodes of Afterworld, you all need to watch Episode 28. You can find it here. The context is that after an EMP has wiped out most of the human population of the planet, our protagonist, Russell, is walking from NYC to Seattle. Currently he's at some sight that was sacred to an Indian tribe 5000 years ago. Every 47 minutes an EMP fireball goes off. He's followed a kid into the cave these fireballs come from. Oh, and the episode is entitled "The Looking Glass."

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good luck, maven! And good luck to your son and daughter in law! We'll consider Elisabeth to be an honorary LoCo. :)

Let us know how it goes!

Hey peeps,

Long time no read or write... lol

I just picked up my first two of the four new McFarlane LOST figures. I got Mr. Eko and Jin. I could have picked up Sun as well, but I really want Sawyer and can't find him any where.

I went to the three story Toys R Us in the City and they didn't even gat theirs yet. Anyway Eko comes with his stick as an accesory and two slide like frames from the orientation video, one of the swan logo and the other of Dr. Candle.

Jin comes with notes of phonetic korean to english words that Sun made for him. The are both great and look amazing.

Peace and Namaste

Serpent Mound is in Ohio. It's about 30 miles south of where I live. I've been there a couple of times but it's been awhile. I was going to go this summer but wasn't able to. My daughter did a project on it last year in school and made a model of it out of clay. It's the largest serpent effigy in the United States. There's two burial mounds near there also that belong to the Adena and a another that belongs to the Fort Ancient. It's a nice park it has a small museum with exhibits in it on the mound and the cultures.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to say hey and actually tell you about what's going on with me right now, since it's been so long and never updated you guys.

For those of you that remember, I was in a dilemma over the summer over what I should do this fall, whether school or work or whatever. I decided school, and I am currently attending Liberty University, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Things are going great, although busy, and I'm loving every moment of it.

I'm glad to read that you guys are all doing okay! I'm upset I couldn't follow along with the Book Club, but I see that is still going well too.

Maven, I hope everything goes well tomorrow! I'll be praying for all of you.

Speaking of prayer, for those of you that do pray, please keep me in your prayers as well. Like I said, I'm busy, and I'm having some difficulty balancing everything I have to do. I also have not declared a major yet, as I am not sure what God's will is for me.

I'll hopefully be able to get back on here this weekend! I'm looking forward to it.

Capcom said...

Hey Ded! Thanks for the info on the Eko and Jin figures. They sound great.

Good news Lucky! Glad to hear that you are at least on the road to the future now. Don't get too stressed out, we'll keep you in the prayers.

The same for your new "bye-bee", as Claire would say, Maven. XO

Interesting about the mound Sayidsgirl, I always wanted to go see that.

ib4uc said...

Sending out prayers to Maven and luckyguylikeme.

sayid'sgirl... I have to admit, I've lived in SW Ohio all my life and have never been to Serpent Mound. My oldest daughter studied about it in Ohio History class last year and we said we should take a trip there, but that's as far as we got.

Melissa_Lossa said...

hey, luckyguy - glad to hear that things are looking up for you. :) College can get overwhelming, but just take it one step at a time. And don't worry about declaring a major right away. My sister switched three times while she was in school, and she made it through just fine.

Just take classes that you're interested, get involved in things that matter to you and make you happy, and your path will find you.

Good luck! Remember, we're all here for you whenever you need us!

Just worry about all your pre-requisites first, then when you get a chance, squeeze in a "major" class here and there and see what you like. I started out as an architect major, but got really bored after two semesters, so I switched to computers. If you really can't decide on what to do, head towards a business degree, which should be helpful in just about anything you do.

Good for you!!!

Capcom said...

I like the doggie avi Ange, it looks very artsy. You can almost smell the puppy-breath too! :o)

I think that using the term 'fractal' to describe Lost as the Time article does is very true. Lost actually is a story where each branch of the stories and mysteries spirals off into infinite sub-sub-sub-stories and mysteries.

Oh, and for anyone who is interested, my husband and I were at Toys R Us yesterday, and we saw the first series of Lost figures on clearance. They were all $10, including the hatch set! If you've always wanted, them, you might be able to pick them up at your local store cheap. :)

ib4uc said...

Just looked on ABC's Lost page and it says "tune in on Friday, Sept. 21 for a new podcast with executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse!".

But it's not up yet...

memphish said...

Looks like a trip to Toys R Us is in order. Think I can convince the 8-year-old that he doesn't need anything but Mommy does?

Proof that Heroes is at best LOST lite - From the EW.com story on Heroes season 2.

''It was too much for the audience to invest emotionally in a story that stretched 23 episodes. Season 2 is more focused.''

We'll have invested emotionally in 115 episodes and will probably we wish we had more to invest in. Of course we refused to emotionally invest in 14 Nikki and Paolo episodes, so maybe the point is somewhat valid.

Amused2bHere said...

I think I'll mosey on down to the local TRU and see what's on their clearance table...thanks for the idea, Melissa!

Memphish, you can always find something small for your 8yr old, even if it's just new package of wiffle balls...works for my 19 yr old...lol

Melissa_Lossa said...

I hope everyone can find what they're looking for at TRU. :) At our local store, the figures were in the back by the action figures, tucked in a corner, so you may need to seek them out.

If anyone wants them and can't find them, I could go back and look here - you'd have to either send me some money over paypal or wat until I get paid next Friday, though. :)

Hey gang
The OLP is up!

Dennis said...

It looks like the Lost official podcast is on the ABC website now.

Snaked again!

Tess315 said...

Sorry Dennis :)

memphish said...

The OLP is pretty lame. It even sounds like it might have been taped last week before I knew about our ability to ask questions. Yes, I'm bitter I wasn't called. I would advise the completely spoiler-phobic (possibly The Book Police) to avoid since they do discuss some issues with respect to casting and some things we will find out at some point in the future. It's certainly nothing earth shattering, but it still might be considered spoilers.

maven said...

Memphish: They probably just picked the questions they wanted to answer. Of the many questions submitted (and I didn't read them all), the ones addressed on the podcast were pretty lame. Most of their "spoilers" was stuff a lot of us knew already.

Hey all, I know it has been a very long time for me. I really miss our show!! When does it come back on? On another Lost note, there is going to be a Lost Xbox 360 and PS3 video game that will take place through the eyes of a new character named Elliot that has all of the events of the island plus dealing with amnesia. The visuals look great and there will be times Elliot will interact with our favorite losties. According to the producers the game will stay true to the show and will add back story.

I miss our summer of fun!!! I hope all are well.

Peace & Namaste

Thrasher76 said...

Oh, need to switch to the original!!

Peace & Namaste

maven said...

Hey, Thrasher! How're doing?

Can you guys believe that tomorrow is the 3rd year "Birthday" of LOST! DarkUfo has a post on what first got you hooked on the show.

I think the great opening sequence of the plane crash on the beach and the strangeness of the island got me...especially when Charlie said: "Guys, where are we?"

Tess315 said...

I started watching Lost because the promos said it was a new show by JJ Abrahms. And since I was an Alias fan I had to check it out. Also being a huge LOTR fan the fact that Dominic Monaghan was in it was a big selling point too.
After watching the pilot I don't know if there was any one thing that hooked me other than it was a great show. And of course as Maven said Charlie's line "Guys where are we?" made me think this was going to be a great mystery and I love mysteries and trying to figure them out.

martysbaybay said...

Maven.....
Congrats! She is beautiful.

Belated Happy Birthdays to all I have missed. Spring and summer of floods has gotten me way behind.

Memphish....
I'm with you, the OLP was pretty lame but at least it was new, sort of. No new info just a discussion of what we already knew as you said.

Capcom said...

Yes, Happy B-day to Lost! You know, watching the clip of the Pilot again on DarkUFO just now, I realized that TPTB had created Lost to be a "mindfreak" kind of show loaded with questions from the moment it begins. Within the first second of the show, the mind is machine-gunning questions such as: what's with the eye?; why is that suited guy lying in the tree stand?; where did that dog come from?; if this is after a crash, why is it so peaceful? who's shoe is that?; etc. And the rest is sweet history. :-) I know that this is obvious, but it just hit home with me today how they set up the creepy mysterious atmosphere for the entire show within the first few seconds/minutes of the Pilot.

Amused2bHere said...

Thrasher, congrats on the new home. Will you be moving far from where you are now?

Melissa, thanks for staying on top of the podcast. We book clubbers need our fix this month!

ps-->Just a side note, but I was cleaning my basement and I found a copy of Alice in Wonderland and another copy of Through the Looking Glass! Who knew I had them?

maven said...

Dennis: I think there's a link to a forum on the Heroes/NBC website. I think it's called "The 9th Wonder". But it's not a blog like TLC. I think the community we've developed here is one of a kind!

memphish said...

Dennis, some other suggestions are The 10th Wonder (I think that's a site) and there's a podcast called 3 Heroes that's done by some people who are into LOST as well, so they may have something. Sorry that's so vague, but it's all I got.

Joseph Finchum said...

Dennis,

Sorry, but I was watching... lol

Anyway, the 9th wonder site is good, but I ifind the people at
http://www.superhiro.org
to be far more friendly, intellegent, and willing to share ideas in an open and honest way.

I got into them when the whole Heroes 360 thing was going... which was a real let down by the way. I liked how it tied into the show, but it was really done in a lame fashion.

To any heroes fans, I thought they did a good job opening the season after such a weak finale.
I however never understood the media and their constant blathering about the Petrelli's assumed death... I never once thought they were dead. I figured Pete would live because in the future episode, he says I blew up New York and I always assumed that Nathan at some point let go.

Anyhooooo, We now resume LOST discussion... already in progress.

Joseph Finchum said...

Oh yeah,
