Second,

David and Steve, I posted about the podcast at the end of the last thread. It's pretty long, so I won't repost, but you can check it out there.

Hi Everyone!

I'm back after being gone for over a week. I did manage to watch the episode while in California (Thanks for the invite anyways, Maven)

There's too many comments for me to catch up on right away... did I miss anything important?

memphish said...

For you spoiler fans there's an interview or maybe just highlights of an interview with Jorge about this week's show over at www.tvsquad.com.

Dennis said...

memphish, I'd go ahead and repost it here. We'll get a new post in two days anyways...

memphish said...

Dennis,

Thanks for the new thread. I think most of us think you haven't missed anything important vis a vis the show. I have a feeling this episode will hopefully start to feel more important/useful/meaningful somewhere down the road. For right now there's not much. Most recaps like at Television Without Pity or TV Squad can catch you up on what big moments there might be.

The biggest thing that happened here last week was Dark Angel's sabatical. He's facing a disciplinary hearing at work for excessive internet use and getting around blocked things like Blogger and so has decided to take a step back. Not an unwise decision probably, but we still miss him and are wishing the best for him.

Reposted from the last thread:

Podcast feedback time.

First, David, thanks for the info. re iTunes. Good to know.

Steve and I were on the same wavelength when it comes to this episode. Why do the Others act like the Losties should take them at their word when their actions are so contrary? Is this just a blind spot we all have about ourselves?

I also agree the episode should have been called "Creepy and Cheesey," and I am not getting Jack-et chemistry vibes either. Other than Stockholm Syndrome or Juliet's need of spinal surgery, why would relationship-impaired Jack all of a sudden get the warm fuzzies for his interrogator?

Vis a vis the Jack as Moses thing: my question is which group is Jack really from? Is he a true Lostie, now being "raised" by the Others, who'll revert to being the leader of the Losties, or is he really an Other who as a baby was raised by the world and who is returning to his true people the Others? I think that would turn out to be a more interesting scenario and maybe we'd finally find out what happened to Christian Shephard's body. Now that's a mystery I want solved. Oh, and the Red Sea thing was a hoot. Maybe that's the only true way off the island?

Engineer27 that was a good call.

Oh, David, please don't sing, and Coke is way better than Pepsi.

Finally as for your wacky theory, I went back to look at an episode transcript and don't see what you're talking about that Achara said something happened in her village. I think we're supposed to think that Achara has "powers," but I'm more inclined to think she's like Richard Malkin, Claire's psychic, and she's just reading people and then marking them however she wants because hey, who can read that stuff after all. It didn't take us a month to figure out those things she said about Jack--leader, angry, etc, and as far as I know none of us was sleeping with him.

And Amen Ded.

Capcom said...

Yes Dennis, be sure to read the "snarky" ones that were posted on the previous thread, I like them the best just because they are so funny! Those people tend to notice the oddball things that we notice also.

Good comments on the Jack and Moses idea, and about his being an Other-clone raised in The world. And I too want to know where the heck Christian's body went, unless it just happened to fall out of the casket in the crash, which I guess bodies in caskets might tend to do in a crash like that. ????

As for the Jackette thing, it's possible that Jack and Juliette can remain in a friendly or collegue type relationship of respect and still help each other, heal each other if necessary, and mutually assist in getting what each wants (freedom), without getting mushy. I prefer this scenario myself, although I would love to see the look on Kate's face if she dumps Sawyer for Jack and then finds Jackette happening! On the other hand I can imagine TPTB making Jack stay on the island for his own reasons, while enabling Juliette to get off the island. That would also be a satisfying story for me as well. The Others, or the DI, would be the ultimate fixer-up project for Dr.Jack Fix-it, and he owuld be in fixer-up-paradise!

engineer27 said...

Passafist....

Did the whole thread in the comments for "Flashes before your eyes" happen in another reality? We (The Lost Community) concluded that the film from one of the takes of the Widmore office scene got threaded into the projector backwards during editing. That's why some images appear to be reversed (down to the "NAMASTE" appearing forwards in some views and backwards in others, and Desmond's hair part being on first one side and then the other).

You didn't mention any of this in rebuttal to your caller, even though it would have saved your "Lost Ph.D." degree.

The only thing that we weren't sure about was whether there is an editor out there looking for work, or if Damon & Carlton were trying to tell us something. I guess that's a question for D&C's new show "Production Foul-up or Clue."

Capcom, do you think Jack is a plumber too?

He claimed to be one in season 2, but that was just to keep Kate from using the shower and discovering "Henry Gale" in the safe.

maven said...

Hello, everyone!

Really enjoyed the podcast, as usual. Tough actually "hearing" Dark Angel say goodbye for a while...hope all works out for you, DA...job and family are always priorities!

I'm beginning to like the Moses theory. I can see Jack slowly being integrated into the Other's society and maybe becoming a leader amongst them (hence the tattoo meaning). I don't think he'll be brainwashed (a la Karl), and won't even condone their methods, but with his connection with Juliette now (both of them wanting to go "home"), he might stick around Otherville, become involved in their society if only to understand his enemy or those who hold the key to actually getting home for all the Losties. Then he'll go back to the Losties and he'll part the sea and go home!

memphish said...

Engineer27, I'd forgotten about the "broken plumbing" in the Hatch.

I posted this last night, but only thinbluemine commented on it, so I'm re-posting to see if anyone else has ideas.

I have a question for everyone. Did Ben know that Juliet's trial was taking place?

It didn't seem so given that he had to write his little note commuting her sentence.

So then hee's the next question. Does this mean the trial is all just a con on Jack to give him someone new to save, a new situation to fix in terms of Juliet which requires him to stay with Others and give Ben enough time to convince Jack he would "want to save him," or was the trial the opening move in a power struggle between Ben and whoever leads the other faction and taking out Juliet weakens Ben's side?

If it's the power play, who is making it? I'd like to suggest Tom who we've begun to write off as the big, almost a little simple guy. After all he knew what was going on. He took Jack to be questioned by the Sheriff. And if Ben didn't know that means Tom didn't tell him. Maybe Tom overheard Ben's Hatch remark that he, Tom was "nobody" and has decided it's time to change that.

Any ideas?

Capcom said...

I guess Jack kind of has to become a plumber, now that the Lostaways killed Ethan and Jack seems to be his replacement for other things as well. :o)

"Production Foul-up or Clue"....yes Engineer, I definitely want to hear that podcast!!! Or, read that ten volume book that TPTB are going to write and release this summer! :-p

Yep, and the whole "not one of us/walks among us" thing sure fits in with the Moses track, as someone reminded us before concerning Moses not fitting in with the Egyptians or his own people as we know. I like where this is going.

Capcom said...

Memphish, I haven't re-watched the ep yet, but from my faulty memory of my initial viewing, it seemed as if Sheriff Nasty was trying to hurry up a trial so that she could judge Juliette without Ben knowing and get rid of her. But I could be wrong.

memphish said...

It felt on first watching like that to me too and yet Ben is still so in charge that he can change Juliet's sentence with a mere note, and Tom knows what's going on, but he doesn't inform Ben. It's the Tom thing that really makes me start wondering about the power structure. I'm also just looking for something more interesting in the episode than it seemed facially.

maven said...

Memphis: I don't think Ben knew about the trial or sentence handed down by Isabel. He definitely seemed surprised when Jack told him. Jack negotiated with Ben to get him to write the note to stay her execution (but mark her). This was perhaps a power play by Isabel...she certainly seems like a by-the-rules type of gal and very stern.

Jack is the one calling the shots here. Ben needs a medical person to monitor him or he might not walk again. He is ingratiating himself with Ben, showing how important his cooperation is needed for Ben's recovery. No one trusts each other, but Jack has the upper hand now. And, by writing the note, Ben seems to asserting his authority again. He appears to be in control, even in his current condition. I don't think the different Other factions are trying some grand scheme to get Jack to stay with them willingly.

Capcom said...

Maybe Tom is kind of like Krychek on the X-Files, that is, he goes with whatever side is winning, or whichever can benefit him the most. Although, he did look sincerely concerned when the whole operation thing started to be discussed and happening. Beats me too.

engineer27 said...

There is something here that we are missing.

Juliet is on trial for killing Pickett. Either she killed him, or she didn't (there might be a "self-defense" plea, but that's about it). However, when Sherriff Isabel conducts her investigation, she is very interested about whether or not Juliet asked Jack to let Ben die on the table. But is that relevant to the charge of murder?

She also seems to know the truth . . . Perhaps she has impounded the videotape as evidence. But she really wants to know why Jack would lie about it.

More later....

ib4uc said...

engineer27... maybe sheriff Isabel was trying to get more info to make a stronger case against Juliet. "Not only did she kill Pickett but wants to kill Ben"

But, on the other hand, Juliet was already tried and convicted for killing Pickett (without Jack telling the truth about Juliet), so I don't have clue as to why Isabel is so interested in the other info.

She just really creeps me out, almost as much as Ben.

memphish said...

Agree ib4uc re Isabel's creepiness factor. Maybe Tom wanted Isabel to ask Jack again about killing Ben because he's trying to decide for himself if he believes it or not. Jack's tried to sell both stories several times now. It certainly seems to me like Isabel is not fond of Juliet. Tom, though has seemed somewhat fond of her calling her Julie at least once that I can think of.

Capcom said...

Right Engineer. And I sort of thought at the time that I was viewing the ep last week, that Izzy was looking for as much against Jules as she could muster up, and that finding out that Jules asked Jack to kill Ben was her ace in the hole for conviction.

Then when Jack lied, was Izzy totally confused as to why now Jack would all of a sudden lie and stand up for Jules? Since Juliette asked Jack to do it via that secret cue-card video, then Izzy did not have the solid evidence that she would have liked, and Jack was her big card to play against her and then it fell apart when he lied???

Maybe Izzy doesn't like Jules for some reason? Jealousy? Never got along from the get-go because Jules is intelligent and Izzy is just another female Pickett-type human/gorilla clone? :o)

memphish said...

I think it's the hair. Izzy is ticked Juliet has so much better hair than she does. Juliet probably got all the padded hangers too.

ib4uc said...

Maybe Isabel is jealous of the closeness between Ben and Juliet and that could explain her attitude.

Come to think of it, we've only seen a few minutes of Isabel and I get the feeling she doesn't like anyone! Well, except for Ben -- maybe her feelings go a little deeper than just friendship.

Or, as memphish noted, maybe it is the hair. I know I'm jealous of Juliet's neat coif. Oh, and the padded hangers, LOL

ib4uc said...

One other thought... Jack lying, maybe he's trying to put doubts into their heads, kinda like Ben did when he was locked up in the hatch. Maybe he thinks he can turn them on eachother...

Dennis said...

maven said... I don't think Ben knew about the trial or sentence handed down by Isabel. He definitely seemed surprised when Jack told him.

I think Ben is just surprised that Jack found out about the execution, and that Jack would want to help Juliet.

capcom said... Maybe Izzy doesn't like Jules for some reason?

Well, despite Ben's speech in the operating room about Juliet being "one of them", she hasn't lived there her whole life like some of the others. There might be some hostility towards the newer recruits from the veterans.

Capcom said...

Oh yeah Dennis, Newbie-itis. Been there, been hated for that. That did not occur to me, you could have something there.

IB4UC, it would make me very happy if Jack could put aside his crabbiness momentarily, and be smart enough to do that! That would be great. He should have gotten a nice little lesson in that when they had Benry in captivity, if he was paying enough attention to that and not to how much he always wanted to argue with Locke. :o).

memphish said...

dennis said... I think Ben is just surprised that Jack found out about the execution, and that Jack would want to help Juliet.

Good point. After all last we'd heard Jack wasn't going to help Ben or Juliet. That personal favor appeal really bugged me. And I tend to keep forgetting that Ben commuted Juliet's sentence in order to secure Jack as his doctor--infected stitches are such trouble, and not out of the goodness of his heart.

It seems the Others' justice system doesn't have much room for mitigating circumstances such as Ben told me to do it. When Ben commutes Juliet's sentence Izzy says its because "the rules don't apply." Is this because Juliet's only been there 3 years and is a relative newbie or just because that's convenient for Ben?

My wv is k...fed.

engineer27 said...

All good comments... there is definitely more here under the surface.

From Jack's point of view, he played the only card he had to spring Kate and Sawyer (well, probably just Kate actually), so he needs to build up as much capital as he can, and quickly. Sowing discord between Tom and Isabel, playing the Ben vs. Juliet and the Ben + Juliet game, and his conversation with "Alex" all fit that pattern. What he said to Alex is particularly telling. Since he doesn't know at this point who he can trust or even who might be helpful, he plants "seeds" to see what grows. So he tries to make Alex believe he is someone to be trusted -- who keeps his word.

Capcom said...

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I like it Engineer. :o)

memphish said...

I like it too Engineer, but frankly if this is plan it is by far the best plan Jack has ever had and executed. Despite his book and surgery smarts, his island and rest of his life plans (like the repeated stalking of the women he sleeps with) don't seem anywhere near as well thought out.

Taken straight out of the LOSTpedia

"Utopian Social Engineering is studied by the DHARMA Initiative (as stated in the Swan Orientation Film).

Social engineering is a school of political science whereby governments or private groups influence the acceptance or rejection of individual behaviors on a large scale, through passage of laws or creation of incentives/dissentives. Human efforts to create a better, or perhaps perfect society are called utopianism. In some ways, social engineering which attempts to place limits on human behaviors and attitudes is a constraint on free will (see main article)."

this sounds like what was used against Juliet so it seems as if these people were "Raised by Others" or they have something to do with DHARMA because they are used dharma-researched techniques (dissentives = markings)

maybe jack is just one of those people that takes charge of everything. hes just a bit more sly than that jack really wants to be crowned KING of the Island and wants to have Juliet and Kate dancing round him wearing bikinis of leaves whilst watching his minions go forth into the world and bring him back things to fix (so basically the island will be furthemore known as Jacks HandyMan Kingdom)

memphish said...

picsel, I'm tired too, but that last comment made me laugh. I bet that's exactly what Jack has in mind with a little Sun, Claire and Nikki action too.

Heroes was pretty juicy tonight.

G'night, sleep tight.

memphish said...

Heroes was very good, but I noticed a couple of things that people always gripe about LOST. First, the number of commercials. Aargh! And of course they always hit right when you wanted more. And second, they stayed with just one set of characters. I don't do Heroes message boards, but it would be interesting to see if those who complain about those aspects of LOST are happy or bit@#y this morning.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Good morning all - I was reading over the comments from last night and I had a thought.

What if some of the jealousy/resentment of Juliette stems from her being recruited from the outside? If some of the Others have lived on the island their whole lives, they might resent having an outsider brought in, especially if the idea behind it is basically "we don't have anyone that can do this, we need someone from the outside." If Juliette was brought in because she was special, maybe she's been receiving special treatment. I know I'd be a little miffed if I lived somewhere my whole life (in a closed community) and then an outsider was brought in and the attitude was "we really need her, and she's special, so be really nice to her."

Maybe this is Isabelle's chance to show Juliette she's not that special after all.

CattyGirl said...

Good morning all. I was reading a bit in the GSPN forum and found a link to do-it-yourself Dharma labels. Remember when we were trying to figure out the best stuff to eat at a Lost party... now you can just label any of your food to match. haha

http://www.insanelygreattees.com/news/?p=27

memphish said...

Melissa_lossa, I think you're right about Juliet's outsider status being an issue with the former insiders. Colleen's snarky remarks back in The Glass Ballerina are in line with that as well. That's probably further complicated if it turns out Juliet and Ben were romantically involved. That also probably got her special status that didn't sit well, especially with other women. Break-ups tend to leave "friends" picking sides as well which could add another layer.

Cattygirl, those labels are fun. I haven't used any yet, but they might be the perfect thing for a Hurley episode. Wish I could get one for my milk carton with the missing Walt picture. And I guess Michael should be on a milk carton now too.

Melissa_Lossa said...

cattygirl - I love it!

memphish - that's a good point. If Juliette came in from the outside and stole Ben's heart away from the native girls, and then dumped him, that could cause a good amount of friction as well. Somehow, I just get the feeling that she did the breaking up.

Tess315 said...

cattygirl:
Those are pretty cool. Thank for the link.

memphish said...

Luckyguylikeme, But do any of them miss Nikki? I think that is the character name of doom of this TV season.

picsel said...

i was thinking this yesterday i miss Hurley and Locke and Sayid havent seen them in ages never mind Sun and Jin. i never was too bothered by them but lost has a certain thing where there were lots of stuff to think about and now looking back we havent seen much from alot of the "Main" original cast,

maven said...

Thanks, cattygirl, for the label-link.

I thought Heroes last night was awesome! It really moved the story along at a good pace and gave us some answers, even though only a few characters were involved. Unlike Lost, I don't tend to over-analyze Heroes, just enjoying getting some answers!

Melissa_lossa and Memphish: Agreed that Juliette is considered the new kid on the block and everyone was told to play nice with her. If they do more people will have babies! I don't think that she and Ben were romantically involved...there's just a power struggle there. Also, where has Isabel been? For the "Sheriff", she was conspicuously absent from the first 6 episodes wasn't she?

memphish said...

Maven, Isabel told us she and most of the Others don't like to be at the Hydra. I think part of her problem is that she's annoyed she's been made to travel to this inferior place.

maven said...

Memphish: Thanks for that reminder. However, for someone who is the "law" on the island, you'd think she'd be summoned over to Hydra to oversee what was happening with the prisoners. She definitely seems to be one of the higher ups in the Other's hierarchy. Of course, the kidnapping of J/S/K could have been happening without her knowledge, and more power plays are going on between her and Ben.

memphish said...

Good point Maven. It is odd that the Sheriff didn't have prisoner contact, with Karl either apparently. Those sneaky Others. It looks like it's not only our Losties they are keeping secrets from. This makes me think again that Tom may be the one behind the power play by notifying Isabel.

maven said...

For such a supposedly utopian society in such a pretty setting, I would be a nervous wreck living with the Others! LOL Nobody seems to be trusted, power plays and secrets are constantly ongoing. I guess whenever you get a group of people together, there is bound to be double-dealing and grabs for power. But this ideal little community is just a microcosm for the problems seen in the whole world.

Gotta go...be around later today!

Maven, I think you have summed up the entirety of Lost right there!

memphish said...

Luckyguylikeme, Season 1 they were the lead-in. It aired at 8pm Easter. Season 2, I think it was sticoms, but I don't know. I don't watch TV until 9pm/8 Central because I have a young son whose bedtime is 8 pm Central.

But I don't think Lost is a show that needs a lead-in or will be a good lead-in. It is its own thing with its own kind of viewers, especially this far into the series. The way people get their entertainment is changing so much faster than entertainment executives' models. Things like lead-ins are becoming more and more irrelevant, but the executives are still tied to that way of thinking.

I couldn't agree more with what you all have said here about the newbie-hate. That is too common in the average workplace, and if it had to bleed over into your private life as well, it would be even worse. And multiply it by being so isolated from The World, no wonder Jules wistfully dreams about getting away and going "downtown"!

Good thoughts about Izzy too. Maybe she is like those upper eschelon peeps in business and the military who don't like to get down and dirty with the grunts...."To the Hydra station? Ugh, not again." It probably smells like decaying animal poo and fish over there too. :o)

Thanks for the Dharma label site!!! I am going to surprise my nephews with some! :o)

P.S. Thanks too for the info on Heroes, I also came to realize (duh) that they do eps on certain characters like Lost does, and was wondering how the Heroes fans feel about that. Although I miss all my fave characters on Lost when they are not on, the choices really are sort of, #1)have a shallow two minutes on every single character each week, or #2)spend some substantial time with specific characters and their story each week. I really have to think that you get more info overall with #2, even though I miss my favorite peeps.

Yeah but with Heroes it is hard because of the shows setting (mind you im only on episode 3 so not sure where everybody is but so far they are all dotted around the globe) so having a character-centric episode would mean seeing no other character other than that one (maybe one or two more depending on who it is) but otherwise you wouldnt. where as on lost the episode might be kate-centric but we also hear from Karl, Jack, Sawyer, Juliet, Ben, Alex or say it is Desmond centric then we hear from Charlie, Hurley, Claire, Locke and whoever. so it would be hard for Heroes to do a LOST structure. although i do think LOST should do perhaps half of the episode OTHERside based and the second half LOSTIEside based.

(dont really know the names of Heroes Characters but you couldnt do character-centric with Hiro because you wouldnt see any other Heroes :S:S)

Good Afternoon Loco-

What is up memphish? When Luckyguylikeme asked what shows were the lead-ins for Lost since Season one and I thought, Memphish would know. Then I read your post and you don't know? What is up with that Lostie? I believe one of the lead-ins from Season 2 was 'Freddie', I watched it a couple of times and it was alright. I think 'George Lopez' was also a lead-in.

Anyone catch 24 last night? Definitely one of the better episodes this season. The last episode was a 24 was sort of like Lost's last episode SIASL. I don't do Hero's so I can't comment on that show. Plus, I don't want to get sucked in. I'm only good for three shows, Lost (of course), 24 and House. That's about all my brain can keep up with at one time.

memphish said...

jgz350, what can I say. Now that you mention it I do recall editing out the end of that Freddie show last season. Not to cause controversy, but Wednesdays until 7:30 pm Central time, I'm at church. In fact I didn't watch Season 1 until the DVDs came out in part for that reason. It was too hard to set the VCR (that was back in the pre-DVR days) for that and then West Wing which I was into back in 2004.

I'm glad to hear 24 was good last night. Hubby and I probably won't get around to watching it until Thursday. The last couple have been a little not so hot, so I hope they come through. It looks like starting Thursday most shows will be in re-runs. I think this coming Heroes is the last of this set, hubby's shows will be reruns next week, and one of my favorites, Ugly Betty is in reruns this week. After that it'll just be Lost and 24 for new stuff (and the mid-season replacements.) Hubby and I were having to struggle to keep dinner down during all the Black Donnelly stuff during Heroes last night.

Sorry this post has very little to do with LOST. Off to carpool.

Right Picsel, Hollywood has rehashed a lot of Brit TV shows, I think even including 'Sanford and Son' and that Archie Bunker show (thankfully, the name escapes me at the moment) I guess that each of our humors (or humours?) doesn't translate across the pond, so we have to do it our way. Happily, we didn't try to translate Monty Python or the Mr. Bean guy. :o)

What's a lead-in?? I'm a baby-boomer raised on TV for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I don't know what a lead-in is. Shameful.

Yeah, I tried the Black Donnelly show, and I couldn't take too much of it. It sort of reminded me of some movie.....maybe 'Good Will Hunting'? Lots of crudeness, and not fast enough on interesting story for me. I'll give it one more try. Kinds of an Irish Sopranos. :-p

Anyway, I thought that the back-stories given on Heroes last night were interesting. Was that Eric Roberts' first appearance? He's cool, he can be so nice or so eeeeeeeevil!

Okay, I think I've solved the mystery of how Isabel knew Jack was lying. Look at this photo from part of the questioning scene that was apparently deleted. Looks like Isabel may have the VCR and Juliet's tape now.

I don't know how to interpret things like this which is an official ABC promo photo and other "official" info like Nikki and Paolo being in Jack's tent when we were first supposed to meet them. I guess this may be one of the scenes they are saving. Anyway, it makes Isabel a little less omniscient, and makes me wonder what the rules are in Othersville for legal searches.

Capcom said...

Very interesting, Memphish. We need to see those monitors from the other side of the room to see if they are just old fashioned dumb-terminals or what. Is that an old RISC system monitor? It would be weird if there are vidcams in the Otherville houses, and Jules was being taped as she taped her secret video for Jack. Ew. They probably were laughing as she burned her muffins too.

I tried to access the SIASL screen caps on the lost-media site, but all I can find under that, is the Lost Moments/Previews caps. Is there anywhere else that has episode caps? I feel like I've seen the room from the other angle, posted here.

I just read Ripper's post on the TLC message board:

"I could be wrong here but I saw a "Mark" similar to Juliet's on the wall in Achera's "tatoo parlor" (over Jack's shoulder at about 31:07 according to iTunes into the episode) check it out. I think Achera is an Other."

Anyone else see this? I have not gone to look just yet, but thought that LoCos might want to know.

Capcom, Lost-Media has 918 screencaps from SIASL (I always want to type sisal like the rug) beginning here. If you can't find it here, it probably doesn't exist. The screencaps from that scene start are on the 9th page of photos.

I heard somewhere else that Juliet's mark was on Achara's wall, but I haven't seen confirmation of that. The screencaps from that scene are pretty dark. If anyone has a link I'd love to check it out.

It took me a good minute to figure out what SIASL was! LOL

Memphish, I'm not doing the puzzles, so I'll look for you, haha.

Thanks for the link to the ep-caps. Don't know what I'm doing wrong this time.

Capcom said...

OK, I looked and it's pretty interesting, but not too much is revealed about any Lost mysteries via the map on the back. Some confirmations of what we've guessed, and a couple/few new pieces of info. Here's what L-pedia says about it:

"Whether or not these are truly spoilerish, only time will tell…but it was a fun ride, and it does seem to be enough fodder for theories. Though many are ideas that have been guessed a lot, such as those about......"

It seems to have taken a number of people over there, and different attemps, to get it right....just like TLE where we all helped. So good luck if you are going to try to figure it out without any hints. But you're clever and determined so you'll get it I'm sure. I wouldn't.....again, just like TLE. :o)

Good Evening Loco-

Just saw Evangeline Lilly on David Letterman tonight and all I have to say is that she looked so hot.

Of course she said nothing much about Lost other than the standard thing the actors from Lost say, "We don't know what is going to happen, we leave it in the hands of the writers, etc. But, I'm sure Dominic Monaghan has mentioned what is going to happen during pillow talk, since he claims to be in the know.
The one thing that I didn't know about Kate is that she was a flight attendant for a month and she really didn't like that job at all. That was news to me, but I bet Memphish knew that. :-)~

Good Night now-

Happy LOST Day Everyone!

Amused2behere - I like your avi.

Thinbluemine - Thanks for the photos. I guess that thing looks similar. Do you know if the concensus is they are the same?

Capcom - yeah! Snarky! That's my next stop.

And jgz350 - yes, I knew Evangeline had been a flight attendant. She also used to change oil on big rigs, and she one time said she like being a waitress and wished some days she could go back to that which probably resulted in a death sentence on her in the LA waitress/actress community. I've pretty much stopped watching the cast on talk shows, except the occasional Kimmel or Ellen. Kimmel and Ellen always ask good questions because they watch the show, though the cast never answers them.

Off to get my morning snark.

memphish said...

There's an article about the show in USA Today this morning. You can check it out here. DarkUFO also has Evangeline Lily's Letterman appearance on the front of his blog if you need a "hotness" refresher, jgz350.

And yes, I posted this now so I could be 100th.

memphish said...

The USA Today article has info. about whose flashbacks we'll be getting over the rest of the season, so if you don't want to know avoid it, and just look at the picture from the article here.

memphish said...

Sorry about the multiple posts. There's a companion piece in USA Today about the cast. No spoilers in it.

And there's also this article from Newsday which has plot summary spoilers for tonight's episode.

memphish said...

More media links. There is a new Doc Jensen article.

WARNING, it does contain broad plot spoilers for both tonight's and next week's episodes. It also teases that there will be new things to do on the internet after next week, and gives us 3 people to explore. If anyone wants to talk about these aspects of the article, let me know, and let's open up a discussion on the message board.

There's also a theory by Doc's friend Dr. Steve for the casual viewer, which I know does not include any of us.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but in the Tattoo Parlor, the are a bunch of posters with Chinese/Thai symbols on them. Has anyone translated them?

Also, here is a comparison screenshot of the "mark" and the picture in the tattoo parlor:

It's similar, but it is missing the horizontal line.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Right after this episode aired, someone (I think it was that Kristin from E) called Juliette's mark a "flame" mark. Have we seen the Dharma symbol for the flame station yet? Is it possible that this is it? That could mean that Patchy McOne-eye could also be an outcast from the Others.

I know there's an image on the blast door map, but it also says that this is the "alleged" location of the station - if the author had never been there, maybe he didn't know what the symbol actually looked like.

Hey LoCo! I have nothing to add of any substance, but wanted to say Hello since I haven't been around in a while. I've been travelling a LOT on business to the East Coast and I have to say I'm delighted to be back on Central Time so I can see Lost at 9 instead of 10. (and an added bonus...that means George Lopez comes on earlier too!)

I LOVE Sheriff Wire Hangers!!! Her voice is pure evil (see kids, cigarettes ARE bad). You know she's gonna unleash a beatdown on Juliet sometime soon. She doesn't strike me as the type who will pass on a vicious revenge.

ib4uc said...

fysb... good to see ya! I know what you mean by Sheriff Wire Hangers (I nominate this for her new name). She just reeks pure evil. It'll be interesting to see how her character plays in the coming episodes. I know I'm looking forward to it!

If her and Juliet spar, I can guarantee one of them is going to beat the other upon their head and back with a can of Clorox!

FYSB said...

Testing new avatar, a tribute to my new favorite character, Sheriff Wire Hangers!

ib4uc said...

Or maybe it was Borax?

ib4uc said...

fysb... LOVE IT!

FYSB said...

Hey there ib4uc! If you see either of them with a can of any type of Dharma Cleanser, you KNOW it's going down.

maven said...

Hey, FSYB! Great new avatar!

It would be great if those two got into a good, old-fashioned cat fight! What would it be over...Ben or Jack! LOL

FYSB said...

Oooohhh...good question Maven. I'm betting Ben, but I think it will simmer just below the surface, then one day some minor thing will push them over the edge. Like, Juliet will take the last donut in the Hydra break room and Sheriff Wire Hangers will snap and jump her.

picsel said...

Sheriff Sire Hangers XD.
my dad who doesnt watch lost (well he's only watched the Pilot and the last two episode) said. "ooh you can tell shes the same one from prison break (she was in that too) shes got that same Evil voice and those wires for eyebrows!"

then i came on here to find you calling her Wire Hangers XD

JGZ350 said...

fysb, what is up? Glad you are back in Texas and that you get to see Lost at 9pm.

I also noticed that Sheriff Wire Hangers is a bit on the masculine side besides her looking evil and just plain mean. If Sheriff Wire Hangers and Jules ever tied it on, the smart money would be on Sheriff Wire Hangers. However, you never know what cruel and evil things Jules is capable of after seeing her off Pinkett.

thinbluemime said...

"TBM: Do you mean the image right above his outstretched arm?"

YES! I just wanted some good 3rd party eyes to verify the face in the window that can be seen at the inside of the photographer's elbow.

As far as to what it means, I am not sure yet. But the island has whisper-ers, maybe there are observers, watching folks prior to their arrival on the island.

Thanks GUYS for the confirmation, and keep watching LOST, CLOSELY :)

Dennis said...

If we're taking wagers on a SWH vs. Juliet cage match, I'll have to put my money on Juliet.

She's young and scrappy (like Ethan), and she already demonstrated her sucker-punch skills on Jack.

ThinBlueMime, I think you're watching Lost a little too close :)

BTW, I'm surprised nobody's mentioned She's The Sheriff

memphish said...

Boy is that obscure Dennis. Is that Suzanne Sommers?

I'm putting my money on Juliet as well. Between her willingness to shoot to kill, sucker-punch skills, and impregnating male mice, well, Sheriff Wire Hangers is facing a formidable foe.

Oh, and is LOST on yet?

JGZ350 said...

what is up memphish? Are you going to be around after the episode to discuss? From what I read, it's going to be a really good episode. What do you think after reading all those Lost articles?

memphish said...

jgz350, yeah I'll be around over here if you want to talk. I'll be note taking as usual. Chat will be up over at DarfUFO too if anyone want to do that. I think engineer27 was over there last week.

As for the episode, I'm trying to go in with light expectations and little or no preconceived notions. The last Hurley episode, Dave, was not that enjoyable on my first watching because I'd spoiled myself on the two big reveals. I'm trying to avoid that.

Hopefully there will be some of us around starting at 11/10 Central.

FYSB said...

Sir Linksalot comes through again! I guess we know where Sheriff Wire Hangers got the inspiration for her 'do. Too bad she cuts her own hair instead of going to Super Dharma Cuts.

You all have good points about Juliet's fighting skills, but remember, SWH survived the terrifying Scenery Chewing Monster known as Faye Dunaway. She will not go down easy.

memphish said...

Excellent point FYSB. I think our Juliet is much like the young SWH though and could take Faye as well.

JGZ350 said...

memphish, I wouldn't mind checking out the chat over at DarkUfo and I'll check here for you after the episode to see if you are around.

As for me, I really enjoyed Dave, I thought that was one of the best episodes of S2. It was so cool to see Hurley give Sawyer a beat down and yelling all the nicknames Sawyer had given him. I will have to say that when Sawyer called Hurley 'Deep Dish' that was classic Sawyer. Plus Sawyer was asking to get 'tuned up' after calling Hurley 'Deep Dish'.

ib4uc said...

I have to go with Juliet also because of what we have seen her do in the past. I know she wouldn't hesitate to b***h-slap SWH if she crosses the line.

Just a side note... I've watched "Mommie Dearest" numerous times and I cringe every time I see those poor children take a beating. Man, Joan Crawford was one screwed up woman!

memphish said...

I agree about Dave now. I enjoyed rewatching it, but first time around I knew Dave wasn't real and that Libby was at the asylum, so I ruined my chances of having an OMG moment on first viewing. I think I knew about the smackdown in advance as well. In other words, I was thouroughly spoiled, and that's why I'm spoiler-phobic now.

Dennis, when are you posting the new thread so I can jump on with nothing to say other than how fast I was? And was that Suzanne Sommers?

ib4uc said...

jgz350... regarding 'Dave', it was good to see Hurley not take it anymore from Sawyer anymore.

I looked at some of the pictures on lost media for tonights episode -- I wish I hadn't but couldn't help myself. One looks as though Sawyer has become a little more "compassionate" when it comes to Hurley. (If this is spoilery, I will delete)

memphish said...

It doesn't bother me. I've peeked a bit too. ib4uc, what's that symbol?

JGZ350 said...

So have I, and I think it's going to be a very touchy scene. Oh and that's just my opinion. :-)

David "The Admin" reserves the right to post new epsiode posts. The general plan is to post it one hour before the episode starts.

Yes, that was Suzanne Summers. There's a better picture of here. According to IMBD, it was an awful show.

memphish said...

There was a question that it wasn't an awful show? Let's see, Chrissy is the head law enforcement officer of your county. Was everyone she arrested forced to use a thigh master?
