Why have light come out from them? What is the reason for this film he was watching?

Clockwork orange anyone?

I can't believe how fast you guys are.

Now that we have a new link I'm want to see what you guys think about the spider hole that Alex put Sawyer and Kate in.

Discounting time manipulation, Ben has been on the Island his whole life which according to Jack's expert x-ray knowledge is 40-odd years. Dharma came the Island in the 70s which is 30-odd years. Sawyer asks Alex if digging is her hobby and years of being raised by Ben allowed her to come back quickly with yeah and basket weaving too.

Here's what I think about the spider holes though. I think Ben's family dug the various spider holes around however many islands there might be in order to spy on the Dharma people. He later shows them all to Alex in various father/daughter bonding moments over the course of her lifetime and now she's using them to her advantage.

I wonder how many more of you have posted since I started typing this?

Memphish mentioned this in the previous thread..

A New Official ABC Lost Podcast is also available today.

JGZ350 said...hey dennis, a new episode of Day Break is up at ABC.com.

Thanks! :) I started a new Day Break thread at TivoCommunity to discuss the new episode. However, I won't be able to watch it until tonight.

JGZ350 said...

Memphish, so you are saying that Ben was living on the island when the Dharma Initiative began construction of the various hatches on craphole island? I do not believe Ben when he said he has lived there his whole life. I think he is lying when he said that just like he lied to Jack and Jules about getting them off that godforsaken island.

memphish said...

jgz350, Yes. I don't know why I'd believe that one thing Ben said, but yes.

memphish said...

r2K, heard that the glasses are a Donny Darko reference. I don't know anything about Donny Darko, but supposedly it has something to do with time maniuplation.

Anonymous said...

Ben definitely wants off the island himself. we've been clued in on that.

With that said, if you've known nothing but a certain way of life for all those years, you might not be so "quick" to want to leave. Ben seems to "miss" something. Simple freedom perhaps? Revenge? Dunno.

Anonymous said...

Donny Darko was great. You should check it out, but be patient. it's worth it in the end.

and yeah. it does have a bit to do with time travel.

JGZ350 said...

Ben is a liar and a master manipulator. He hasn't lived there all his life. Maybe he was had some formal training in room 23 and thus he 'thinks' he has been there his whole life.
Who the heck is Danny Darko and how would those glasses manipulate time?

ib4uc said...

Good day fellow locos...

I think anything that comes out of Ben's mouth is a lie -- he's not given us a reason to believe otherwise.

Well, maybe when he told Sawyer there were 2 islands.

JGZ350 said...

hey luckyguy, how were you able to record it?

memphish said...

ib4uc said:I think anything that comes out of Ben's mouth is a lie -- he's not given us a reason to believe otherwise. You're right, and yet he appeals to Jack as a gentleman, and Jack buys it. Maybe Jack's already been in Room 23?

ib4uc said...

chucklez3 said...

Could you refresh my memory? I can't figure out when he would have indicated he wanted off the island.

Anonymous said...

don't remember anything about glasses. but Donni Darko stars Jake Gylenhaal. again, don't recall the glasses in that movie, though.

Anonymous said...

ib4uc: didn't Ben say he would leave WITH jack?

maybe, i'm hearing crap.

ib4uc said...

memphish... I think Kate has already visited Room 23 as her wrists showed. And she doesn't tell Sawyer where she was because maybe she doesn't remember. That could also account for her change in aggression.

As far as Jack, I never thought of him being put in Room 23 but he's so trusting towards Ben/Juliet that it makes sense he was maybe brainwashed also.

ib4uc said...

chucklez3... no, I don't think you're hearing crap. I just couldn't recall when Ben gave any kind of sign he wanted to leave the island.

memphish said...

Chucklez and ib4uc, Ben did say he would take Jack home. Hopefully Jack will have time to teach him the ways of baseball before then since it was obvious Ben didn't get the significance of what the Red Sox did.

ib4uc I also agree about Kate and the room. Or at least I hope something like that happened to her because I do need some explanation for the wrist scars (which were noticeably absent in The Pilot despite her struggles with them there) and for her docile behavior from the time she "turned the tables on them" in Live Together, Die Alone and her willingness to shoot Aldo in the knee this past week.

Anonymous said...

i'll buy the kate thing. maybe this could explain why she's bringing people back for jack. maybe she's supposed to bring them back.

however, maybe jack was too. this is all just a ploy to get more back to the smaller island.

Sawyer would be the only one that hasn't experienced the brainwashing yet.

That would suck, cuz kate and jack's lives are "numbered" then. something could potentially happen, if they're not "converted" back to rational thought.

Meaning, if they have been brainwashed to working with the others, then they stand a chance to "try to kill other losties" or what have you.

Which also leads me to think.........what might walt have done to poor michael??? haha

eh..

Anonymous said...

Ben could've also meant that somewhere on the island IS jack's home now.

memphish said...

Nothing Michael didn't earn, Chucklez.

Christine said...

Kate look rather amazed upon entering room 23. Somehow I don't think she was there before. But Sawyer on the other hand, immediately becomes entranced with the screen, and only snaps out of it when Kate yells at him.

Anonymous said...

.......continued from my kate and jack thing.

basically, if they'r brainwashed and it's discovered by the other losties that they have in fact been leading sheep to the slaughter, then the losties may turn on them and try to "off them".

Anonymous said...

christine: maybe it's geared to men somehow. the room, that is.

Christine said...

lol, no comments on that one.

Christine said...

I think the room is used to cleanse the viewer or rebellious/ disobediant behavior. Room 23 might be the room where they put Walt in, to try and make him more willing to become one of them. Maybe since Karl was being disobiediant by messing around with the boss' "daughter", they were trying to wash the behavior out of him. It seems that is where they place you if you are in trouble.

Anonymous said...

yes, but seems to be only men and the fact that sawyer was affected by the "film" immediately and the two women were NOT, makes me honestly believe that it's geared toward men somehow.

memphish said...

Yeah, if it was for women there would have been scenes of Sawyer/Jack/Sayid/Desmond, take your pick, with their shirts off. Which would only have confused Kate more.

Anonymous said...

kate or YOU, memphish?? hahahaha

memphish said...

I am not confused. I'm a Jack girl all the way. Though his next flashback may end that.

CattyGirl said...

Weren't we talking about the believing the simplest answer? I don't believe the film affects men more than women, I believe Sawyer was shocked by it as much as I was and wanted to see what they had the poor kid watching...

PS. 5 tries to post this time.

Anonymous said...

hahaha.

eh.....just meant that i don't think kate has shown interest toward desmond or sayid, so i doubt it woulda added confusion to her already disoriented mind.

Dennis said...

chucklez3 said... Ben could've also meant that somewhere on the island IS jack's home now.

No. It's pretty clear from the scene that Ben meant he would take Jack back to the "real world":

From "The Glass Ballerina"

[Ben turns toward the cart that was rolled in the turns on a TV. It shows the Red Sox winning the World Series. Jack moves toward the TV in disbelief and watches the end of the game. Ben turns the TV off.]

BEN: That's home, Jack. Right there, on the other side of that glass. And if you listen to me -- if you trust me -- if you do what I tell you when the time comes -- I'll take you there. I will take you home.

chucklez3 said... difference is, sawyer was very much "into" it. he didn't respond initially and had that "deer caught in the headlights" look.

Sawyer might be clever, but he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

The ABC Wednesday lineup changes again. :)

I heard a commercial for this last night on ABC. "Encore" episode of Lost at 9:00, and a new episode of Lost at 10:00.

According to Zap2it, they are going to do this the following week as well, then back with a new "According to Jim" on the 28th.

I agree with you Christine, I think that the psych room is for making people more obedient/responsive, etc., when they've been "bad" and rebelious. And also maybe, as sort of a psychological "maintenance" program for the regular screw-ups. Of course I'm sure that Alex, Little Miss Ben's Daughter never gets put into The Room (or so the other Others might jealously say).

The light-glasses for The Room might just be a kinder and gentler for TV way of keeping the victim awake, rather then putting pinned-back eyelids on TV, a la "Clockwork". We saw enough of that kind of thing on the X-Files and Millenium, with the sewed-shut eyelids. :-p

Yeah, Memphish, until the next Jack flashback, bleeah. If she's his type, double-bleah!

I think that Occam's razor only works in the real world, not in the minds of TPTB. If it did, Eko would have merely tripped on a rockand fallen off a cliff to his death! :o)

Sawyer definitely had the deer-in-headlights look Chucklez. Perhaps they do have gender oriented vids as someone mentioned. Maybe there are shots of the Swedish Bikini Team and the Dallas Cheerleaders thrown into the mix for the male oriented films!

To Passafist and Goog,

Just wanted to say that the latest podcast was a really good one.

Three things that stood out for me:

1. The rant at the beginning about how the whining of Lost fans has affected TPTB and may actually be hurting the show: funny and interesting.

2. Dark Angel's speculation about the nature of the flashbacks in the next episode (3.8): I like that idea, I think it'll happen, and wish I had thought of it.

3. Engineer's speculation that Rachel might have originally been a man: I don't agree, but a very interesting theory nonetheless.

Memphish said:
Chris from the LostChicks podcast also made a good observation about Juliet. She is an Other, so she crossed in the real world with another Other, Ethan whereas our Losties have crossed with other Losties.

To me it didn't seem the same as a crossing the losties would have seen. It was just that Ethan was there to check up on what Juliet was doing to/with her sister.
They even say something about doing their research into people.
If you saw someone else besides Ethan who you could only baerly tell it was him, I would have to agree... but I don't... not yet anyway.

When I first saw the glasses the thing that crossed my mind was S.A.D. (seasonal *blah* Depression) or whatever it is called when not seeing the sun makes you depressed and lazy. The glasses if they represent sunlight would help keep the person compliant, at ease, and maybe evan in a good mood. As well they may prevent the body from dishing out the chemicals that allow you to sleep, which would make the brainwashing that much more effective.

One of the outer panels.

That was debugged by TPTB in one of the Podcasts. They said it was just a coincidence in the way light played off of the planes outer shell after they had beaten it up to look like it had been in a real crash. That was never meant to be a Dharma Symbol and if they write it in now I will have to hunt them down and destroy them with a Bus.

BarbaraJay said...

I've been thinking about the Room 23 images. Maybe too much. ;) I googled the symbolism of goldfish and bugs. There were lots of references of goldfish symbolising prosperity and fertility.

Not so many for bugs. What little I found said that beetles represented hate and destruction; ants and bees were for industry, butterflies for metamorphosis, scorpions for betrayal, and scarabs for resurrection.

ummm.......yeah, and the suns rays reflected off a weather balloon, causing some visions of what really wasn't there. it wasn't a UFO, it was a mr. potato head propelled from a make-shift sling-shot...........what the hell?

how does an outer shell get "beaten up" to look just like the dharma logo??

hahahahahaha. that's rich.

Podcast was great, guys, as usual. Very well done, and a lot of interesting ideas thrown out.

Kudos to the opening segment re fan whining and never being happy! Don't look a gift horse in the mouth...or don't bite off the hand the feeds you...or whatever! LOL I know us severe fans will never be happy...that unhappiness and/or confusion leads to great discussions. The ratings right now are not the greatest, and we don't want to lose any more viewers. And we especially don't want to hurt the show and give the impression that we're disappointed. I'm sure ABC is aware of all we complain about.

Also, the idea that Rachel is Robert is intriguing and would tie in to the male mouse research. Remember Locke was supposedly an "immaculate conception", too (although that was way before Juliette's time.) Wasn't there a movie with a pregnant Arnold Swarzenegger?

I agree with you, David, that a snag was hit on the island about fertility being effected by the EM and wombs are aging prematurely. That would definitely be a problem with repopulating the earth after Valenzetti.

Hey Chuckie,

I didn't say it they did. It also had something to do with the natrual shape of the plane and it doesn't even look like a dharma symbol... if you are reffering to the picture from season one with Walt walking away from the plane, it looks like half an octagon and is definitely not the Dharma symbol.Very close, but not it...

So Room 23 is in a Hydra facility. Does this mean that Dharma was brainwashing animals? If they were trying to make the polar bears less violent, it didn't appear to work, at least I'm guessing the Pearl station worker/s found that to be the case.

On a slightly more serious note. Anyone think Danielle may have spent some hours/days/years in Room 23? She seems utterly convinced of her story despite the apparent holes in it like never seeing the Others in 16 years.

JGZ350 said...

Now that you mention Danielle, I am starting to wonder if she is not part of another other's group. Isn't a bit strange that she knew Ben was an other when she caught him in her trap? By the way, I wonder what she has been up to since we last saw her, which was, I believe 'Maternity Leave'. I don't think she has spent any time in Room 23 and I don't think she even knows of the other island(s), just speculation on my part.

memphish said...

Well if Danielle doesn't know anything about other islands then she easily wins Least Curious Castaway Award in the history of castaways. People complain all the time about how incurious (non-curious) the Flight 815 survivors are, but Danielle if her story is straight up makes them look like a certain curious monkey that was kidnapped by a man in a yellow hat.

k.barrick said...

Chuklez,

I'm so glad that someone else is talking about the gender issue with the room. A theory is that perhaps they don't have or don't use the brainwashing for the women because they're so RARE and so PRECIOUS to the island. Sawyer's reaction wasn't a familiarity thing but a gender thing.

Another possibility with the relationship between Karl and Alex being forbidden could be that sex and therefore possible pregnency is highly regulated. Mr. Friendly is gay, and was probably hired with the knowledge of that and since it's kinda come up, it isn't likely that it's by accident. Pickett and the dead woman were possibly set up (arranged marriage like). Kinda unfortunate that their story is all done with his death. :(

Anonymous said...

thanks k.b.

yeah, i think the women can't be "tampered" with for "motherly" reasons.

men are being reduced to "cro-magnon" type ways. provide, hunt, kill, protect.

that kind of thing. Ben hasn't been "tainted" by the brainwashing, etc. however.

just a thought.

memphis, I guess that 'Not in Portland' is all talked out that we are reduced to looking at Lost merchandise over at abc.com. Don't feel bad, I did the same earlier today.

If you want something to tide you over til our next fix of Lost, check out Day Break. That show keeps getting better and better with each new episode.

Off topic, anybody see 24 tonight? Ouch on the scene with Morris and the bat and the drill, that had to have been painful. That scene was almost as bad as when Sawyer was getting his lunch handed to him by Pickett over and over again. BTW, that was so cool when Sawyer finally got to 'tune up' Pickett, he deserved that and more.

Christine said...

I still believe that room 23 is intended to be for disobediant behavior, regardless of gender. Speaking on that note, have we ever seen a young girl other? Besides alex, who of course was not born by the others (to our knowledge), I have seen only male offspring? Any thoughts on this? The only fact we have to this gender thing is that sawyer was transfixed. I dont believe its because he's male, but rather having deja vu. the girls didnt look at the screen long enough to become transfixed. Maybe you guys are reading into this gender thing too much? Just a thought.

Capcom said...

I agree Christine, the gender issue to me is just a fun idea to play around with, but in truth I don't think that the psych video needs to be geared that way either. Flashing, rapidly changing images, have been used for hypnosis, and it can work regardless of what kind of images that are used. Specific images would be for purposely trying to implant an idea into the victim's subconscience, such as what you say -- correcting undesirable behavior. In this case, the vid talks about planting good seeds for good fruit (be good and you have a happy life of relative freedom on the island), and being the cause of our own suffering (break the rules and bad things will happen to you, i.e., punishment). I think that Sawyer merely looked too long at the screen and it started to entrance him for there a sec. JMHO.

Luckyguy, maybe Colleen didn't like having to kiss a half-man/half-gorilla! :o)

Day Break Warning

Well, the ABC interns screwed up again :)

For those that are watching Day Break on ABC.com, the most recent episode has an error. Two of the section within the episode are in the wrong order. In order to watch everything in order (and not be confused about why something is happening), you'll need to skip the third section (after the second commercial) and then go back to it after watching the fourth section. Without giving too much away, once you see Hopper pointing a gun at someone under a bridge, skip the next video and then go back to it once you see Hopper with someone gagged in a chair. I'm trying to be vague enough to not cause a spoiler.

"my mouse?" comment cracked me up...

I don't think Danielle is oblivious to the others. One night sixteen years ago (or whatever) the others roamed into her camp at night (like the tailies) and stole her baby. She lost her noodle and killed her team. The others saw her as an extremely BAD person and decided to just leave her alone and didn't go back to the island until flight 815 fell out the sky. This is why she never saw them. JMHO

It was VERY confusing :( All of a sudden he's doing stuff he already did, but it hasn't said "Day 2" yet. So I was like "Is this a different day? And how did he get here?" Then when it went back to where it was supposed to be, it was almost like a spoiler for its self.

one of my theories may be supported by "lost time".

i theorized once before (season 1) that they were at some point (with or without an actual crash) put under and awakened later. hence, "lost time". it would also explain the "miracle" of locke's legs, etc.

However, as there are plenty of ideas to support this, there are also plenty that might DISprove it as well......

.......as with damn near everything on the show it seems.

eh.

gets boring in here by yourself.

blueheron13 said...

If the plane broke apart at low altitude, as it appears from episode 3.1, that would explain why people didn't pass out immediately when the tail fell off.

But what I still wan't to know, and have since season 1, is why everyone appeared to pass out AFTER they put on their oxygen masks?

Anonymous said...

THANK YOU!!!

that was part of my theory, too. that they were "intentionally" put under for whatever reason.

I think that they were supposed to have something filter through the ventilation in the beginning anyway and ultimately land somewhere. (they were awfully low to the ground to be in the middle of the pacific).

the idea was to bring them there for experimentation. However, the accident was not part of the plan, which is why there was a "scramble" to get people to each site.

LINDELOF: You're not crazy. You will see the monster again this season. Its origins, however... well, you'll have to wait.
CUSE: Whether or not you learn more about it will depend on how obsessive you are. If you enjoy recording the program and studying individual frames, you might. But really, is that healthy?

gee.........i have said many times that the smoke did NOT truly grab Eko and do that to him.

Again, it's kind of a "messenger" and perhaps the harbinger of death. But ultimately, you have choices.

Basically, it's what "appeared" to Eko. The "beating" he sustained was basically his body finally FAILING after the polar bear attacks and making his choice and having his "revelation" about his brother.

Back to the crash, there are still too many strange things about that crash for my liking:

1. If the pilot was telling the truth about turning the plane around, didn't anyone notice this they were going in the opposite direction?

2. As you mentioned, chucklez3, why would they be flying so low--unless they were preparing to land? And why didn't anyone seem to notice this either?

3. The Others, in 3.1, seemed surprised that the plane was breaking apart--they had to scramble to make plans, but they didn't necessarily seemed surprised that there was a plane there in the first place.

4. What made the plane's controls fail in the first place (if the pilot can be believed)? The plane was apparently no where near the island at that point.

5. I'm not sure if this is true or not, but people have pointed out that according to the departure and arrival timetables, it should have been night when the plane crashed.

In any event, I think there is a lot more to this crash that has yet to be revealed, and I certainly think that the plane was being brought to the island for a purpose (but probably not meant to crash).

My internet is down today and I'm trying to figure out why. Have to get it fixed by tomorrow. I'm at my mom's right now testing out modems, but of course, I checked here first before goofing with the equipment.

It does seem like we're about talked out on Not in Portland. Guess it's good we've got a new episode tomorrow instead of 12 weeks from now.

I noticed on Heroes last night an octogan shaped mirror in cheerleader Claire's mama's trailer. Maybe she's part of Dharma too.

Hopefully I'll be back with you by this afternoon. Later.

mime: yeah, i see it as the "messenger". leads you to make decisions and also "assesses" whether or not you're "ready" for the choice of salvation or damnation.

Locke has not been pushed to the "ultimate" decision as of yet. however, both he and eko have faced it in the "eye" before (while healthy and full of "faith") and lived.

later, eko was on his death-bed and was DETERMINED to WILL himself to survive long enough until he caught up to Yime. Upon doing so, he was faced with that finaly "choice". He was to die at any rate........however, i think it's up to the viewers to decide whether it was the right one or not. (the writers may know in THEIR minds), but we will never know (unless they show Heaven and Hell in the final season). hahahaha.

Capcom said...

Yes Memphish, you need to get your computer fixed, as we wouldn't get to have half of the ideas theories we have if you couldn't post. :o) You're the one who takes notes for us! You're the LoCo secretary!

Chucklez, I thought that you were betrothed, what's up? Valentine's day would be an excellent opportunity to say your sorry and/or make up. Don't let the moment pass. :-)

As for the plane, I too think that there are a lot of things that we have missed, or info that was not given to us about it yet. If the magnetic emissions fried the avionics, the pilots would lose control and the plane would begin to lose altitude, so that's why it was so low when it passed over Otherville. (barring the "landing on the island" theory)

I also like the O2/gas in the mask theory. In the first couple eps, they sure made a point to say that Kate was the only one who didn't pass out during the breakup. It took her a long time to get her mask on due to her large "bracelets" being attached to her ankles, and then when she was able to grab her mask, she kindly gave the marshall some air first. So she obviously was getting O2 or mystery gas a lot less or later than everyone else on the plane. Verrrrrrry interesting.

Another thing about the plane is what I noticed when I was looking at the new issue of Lost magazine yesterday. There are some stills of the breakup in the sky, and there is a big black trail of black smoke in and around the pieces of the plane, but not really coming from any specific piece of plane material. That was the first time I ever saw this in stills or caps, and when everything is moving it's dificult to tell what exactly is "in" the smoke, or vise-versa. In the stills, it truly looks like the smoke is independent of the flying wreckage, and is similar to what Eko saw the first time around. I need to go over to the lostcubit site to check that out further. It really looked like Smokey in the mag. If Smokey can lift Eko, perhaps Smokey was supposed to "carry" the plane down to the island? But even after the breakup, Smokey might have been able to bring the fuselage down carefully, so as to save more lives. Where the tail section fits into that theory, I have no clue. Maybe they were expendable, or that fact that they fell into the water saved them. Just brainstorming FWIW.

that's why i'm depressed. and so, i'm alone for v-day. yay me. hahaha

Anonymous said...

as for the plane, the pulse happened and it destroyed the plane nearly instantly. and as for the idea of the pulse bringing the plane down........simply wouldn't happen like that anyway. a plane "cruises" at NO LOWER than 30,000 feet.

when the anomole happened, the plane tore apart within VIEW of the Others' site!!!

so, nah. i think there's more to it. don't forget, the DHARMA logos on the plane, too.

they were flying THERE in the first place.

and the rational side of me refuses to believe that we're dealing with a cartoon-type entity with smokey. So, maybe it was present, but i seriously doubt it "helped the plane down".

And i don't believe that Eko was REALLY picked up in a fist and tossed around.

Capcom said...

Ahhh, I see Chuck. Well, at least you've done the right thing with the gifts. Call her tomorrow, it will mean a lot. Even if you don't catch her, there will be a message. And tell her how lonely you are without her, that works! (Except with stalkers) :o)

Well, I looked at the screens caps on lostmedia (not lostcubit) of the breakup and I really can't tell, it could go either way with the smoke and the plane. I guess we'll just have to wait on this one. Just like whether or not the Smokey-type noise we heard while the plane broke up was really Smokey or just the plane's metal stressing and groaning. :-( I really do like the mystery gas-vs-O2 in the mask theory though!

Anonymous said...

yeah. i hope. ugh.

Capcom said...

Well, didn't the LoCo blog theorize that a magnetic emission can't break up a passenger plane physically, because the body is made up mostly of aluminum and titanium (in addition to various polymers, composites, etc.)? And that magnetism would not really "destroy" a plane in the sense of breaking or blowing it up? All the electronic instrumentation would be fried though, which is basically what the pilot says. Go back to what the pilot told Kate and Jack about things going wacky and having to turn around, and place that in a timeline. They most likely weren't exactly at nominal cruising mode before the breakup, they were having an emergency and reacting to it already. Something happened early in the "event" some time before the plane was over Otherville. In addition, when the Swan counter gets past the 108 countdown, and seconds pass before the button is pushed, it seems as if there was a steady increase in the force of the magnetic fluctuation, or release (due to sound effects, etc.). It could be that the magnetism started to fry the avionics at the instant after the counter flipped at zero. And by the time it built up before Dez finally hit enter, the island started shaking, the plane was breaking up over Otherville, etc. When I put all the available pieces together, that's what I get, for now.

As for Smokey, I don't buy a flying intelligent smoke creature that can stomp around the island crushing trees either, but I'm just going by what I saw.....which was Eko getting picked up by "something". He certainly didn't merely trip and bump his head and die. So if Smokey can do that.....who knows what TPTB could imagine it doing?

Anonymous said...

the internal structure is actually steel. So, to rip it apart would still be possible.

and even if not, the pressure from a CONCUSSION blast of ANY sort hitting a plane in mid-flight could possibly rip it apart as well.

a simple explosion "concussion" could do the same.

the electro-magnetic pulse when released was so powerful and so large and traveled at such a high rate of speeed, it could've easily ripped it apart.

and reaction to problems with gauges:

1. electro-magnetism will easily do that.

2. don't buy what the pilot said, they were too low intentionally.

3. you don't drop from 30,000 feet to 300 feet to "turn around".

btw, i worked with F-18s in the marines.

avionics "damage" does not result in the aircraft "ripping apart". that's mostly electical and could explain "problems" in flight, but not a 29,700 foot drop in altitude, followed by a concussion or "backwash" so strong, the plane splits in two pieces.

ugh. Eko died from PRE-EXISTING wounds!!! Smokey didn't do all that sh@#t. basically, once he caught up with "yime" and made his final life decision, his body gave out. Smokey didn't acutally "form into a fist". it's either a manifestation of some doing, mentally for them to see, or possibly something that comes along for you to make an ultimate choice. (like the harbinger of death, etc).

choose wisely. salvation or damnation??

do you NOT remember that "yime" (smokey) made Eko choose whether he wanted forgiveness or not??

hello!!!

everyone is so quick to believe someone else because they have their own "blog or site".

think people.

I'm back at my mom's house checking in. This will probably be the only time today though. I guess this is sign No. 23 that you're a Lost-aholic:Can't stay away from LoCo posting for even one day.

Thanks for the secretary desination capcom. I'll be taking notes tonight and get them to y'all ASAP which probably won't be until late Thursday at the earliest. At least my cable works, so I should be able to watch the episode as many times as I want between airtime and restoration of internet access.

But I really want to go to Maven's house to watch. Maven you've given everyone diagonal envy with that set-up.

I've got two last things about Not in Portland. What exactly are Carrie's powers in the book Carrie? Could Carrie have made a bus hit her prom date? I'm leaning more toward the Juliet is special and she's the one who caused Edmund to be hit by a bus and got her sister pregnant by faith rather than science. Given that, I'd bet Juliet was not able to reproduce her results on-Island which is why Ben hasn't let her leave.

And finally, listened to the podcast yesterday. David you were really on a tear there man. Dark Angel raised a new point for me in his segment. DA said that Jack runs, that he ran from his dad and from Sarah. That was a twist for me. Kate is of course our runner. Jack is the count to five and stand your ground guy. I guess there is something other than the tats I need to learn about Jack. Looking forward to seeing how that plays out, but not to other yucky things. Going to keep thinking about that. Thanks for the new idea DA.

Hang in there chucklez3. Valentine's will be over in a few hours, but yeah! We get LOST in the meantime.

Signing off.

I'm alone AND I'm fighting off cancer, can you beat that in the depression department? Be happy for what you have in love, you have more than many do. :-p Why don't you count your blessings and give some Valentines to some lonely people in your family, or your favorite local shopkeepers, or some other lonely or needy souls to spread some joy around? Charity always heals the heart. When you make someone else's day, you brighten your own day as well. Otherwise, suck it up and tough it out like the rest of us who have to. OK, sick-old-lady lecture turned off now. :o)

Memphish, I was not yet in the camp that believes that Juliet has Walt-like powers, but you may have hit the nail on the head with the thought that this may be why "Carrie" is Juliet's favorite book! Perhaps she can relate? This would also fit with the concept of the book....timid battered people exhibiting and revenge with telekenetic abilites. Good point!

It's not fair to you if she doesn't, especially if that leaves you hanging and miserable. Engagement is supposed to mean that her feelings are solid too, and you deserve to know if they are not (going by what you said about it). And Valentine's day would be a great time for *her* to show you how much she cares, as well. The LoCos have given *you* advice on what to do, but it shouldn't be all on your shoulders to show the caring. :o) You deserve that much in return!
