One more day!!!!!

ok, deep breath...

Finally caught up with the Lost Community Podcast. And the Lost moments. And the promos. And my laundry.

Dedjezter, you won't believe this but I am in Central Islip, just on the border of Brentwood. Viewing party? You betcha! Email me at amused2bhere@yahoo.com and let's trade thoughts. Wow, such a small world after all!

Congrats to the Colts and especially Peyton Manning for the victory over the Bears. Now he can retire happy, right?

Daybreak ROCKS! I haven't seen the one posted on Feb 4, but all I can say is did any of the Monkeys over at ABC actually watch any episodes before it was axed? (I agree, the commercial with the monkeys must be about them. LOL) Or apes, to be precise (apes have no tails, chimps are apes...but I digress)

One more DAY!

Crossfade, you are one of the few exceptions in the state. Where exactly are you? I know lots of UGA fans and even a few who pull for Tech. I grew up in a border town. We were actually on Eastern time even thought we were in Ala. What's more, I lived in Ala., went to school in Ala, but went to church in GA and my best friend lived in GA. When hubby and I got married, we were married in GA, but the reception was in Ala.

Capcom, Do they play hockey more than every four years in the Olympics? JK, but that's about how often I watch it.

Memphis today is supposed to be in the 50s. Woo-hoo! By Thursday though we'll be back to highs in the 30s.

Only 1 day, 14 hours and 15 minutes to go and the Survivor Guide is up on ABC. It's at the same place you can watch the episodes, and don't forget Dennis' trick about watching all the commercials first.

Good Morning everyone! I'm so excited that Lost is just about here! I'm so glad that my favorite shows are all new. Heroes, 24, House, and now Lost starting back up. It makes the cold bearable - a couple hours on the couch with a blanket, cocoa, and a favorite show. :)

P.S. I can't stop myself from hitting Tab which takes me to the top. grrrr.

Right now where I am in NE Pennsylvania it is 4 degrees with a 'feels like' of -14

I got free tickets to go Snowboarding this weekend and I'm going to end up a popsicle. :(

1 DAY UNTIL LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watched the new Day Break last night ..ooooh it was good. I have a thread here if anyone want to talk about it.

blueheron13 said...

Hi all,

Did anyone else 'round here re-watch the first six episodes of this season within the past few days?

I watched them back-to-back, and I was surprised at how much I had forgotten, and how much better the episodes are when you watch several in a row.

Questions bothering me the most right now:
1. Who/what is Jacob? And what was Jacob's list?
2. Who/where is Mr. Patchy?
3. How could Ben have lived on the island his whole life?
4. Can or can't the Others leave the island?
5. What exactly did Eko's dying words mean?

Good Morning Loco's-

How is everyone feeling with Lost right around the corner? Wow, it's been a long 13 weeks and now we are about to be rewarded with 16 weeks of LOST!

Cattygirl, I'm with you, 24, House and now Lost are all going to be new shows, how sweet is that? I just love this time of the year, with the sweeps coming up, we ought to see some really good TV, espically from Lost.

Dennis,
I haven't had a chance to watch the last 3 eps of Day Break, but I'm going to try my best to cram them in tonight. I would like to discuss Day Break when I catch up.

You want to talk about football? There is no better place for football than Texas, Hook 'em Horns!

Dennis said...

It looks like the Lost Survival Guide is already up on the ABC.com Full Episode Player.

It's the first one in the list titled "Special".

There is also something titled "Sneak Peek", which is the "clip show" narrated by Ben that they showed before season 3 started in November.

maven said...

Dennis: Is that the same Lost Survival Guide they're going to show tomorrow on ABC-TV? I took a look at it and I think it's the one that was shown before the premiere of S3 because they talk about October (not February 7th).

Thrasher76 said...

ONE MORE DAY!!!! I am so glad I took off tomorrow!! I am treating it like the super bowl, even have people coming over to watch!!!

The most disturbing commercial was th eone where the 2 guys kiss trying to eat a snickers!!!

Dennis said...

It must be the same. I don't think they would make two different shows called "Lost Survivor Guide"? According to the ABC press release:

"Disney-ABC Television Group announced today that it is giving viewers a chance to watch the Lost Survivor Guide prior to its network premiere, beginning TUESDAY, FEB. 6 on ABC.com"

Interesting comment from the Survival Guide by Carlton Cuse:

"The island is constantly testing the characters, and sort of forcing them to confront their inner natures.

Sometimes they transcend themselves, and other times they sort of fall victim to the very things that have brought them to this island in the first place
."

memphish said...

Maven, The title "Lost Survivor Guide" was also given to a half hour (22 min) show that aired pre-Season3 on the TV Guide channel. I watched it back in Sept./Oct. and the description ABC released for this "Lost Survivor Guide" seemed very reminiscent of that. Maybe they've just added on to it? Anyone watched the whole thing yet? It doesn't look like there are any new videos on Yahoo!

Oh, and for the Heroes fans out there--I was hoping Christian Shephard was going to turn out to be Cheerleader Claire's father. Now that would have been a twist.

maven said...

Dennis/Memphish: Yeah, I thought the show ABC would air before LOST tomorrow would be more a review of the first part of the season to get people back up to speed (not US of course).

memphish said...

So Maven is it worth watching online today or tomorrow night, or should I just plan on watching my recording of Friday Night Lights in the old LOST time slot?

Jgz350 if you like Texas football, you should definitely check out Friday Night Lights. Mack Brown was even on the first episode playing a booster giving Coach Taylor advice.

Dennis said...

Worst Superbowl Commercials: Snickers (Kiss), Chevy HHR (Naked guys washing the car), Go Daddy

Funniest Commercials: Bud (Fist Bump/Slap), Bud (Rock Paper Scissors), Nationwide (K-fed)

BTW, You can see all of the Super Bowl commercials at AOL.com

JGZ350 said...

Maven,
I don't see the new 'Lost Survivor Guide' over at abc.com. The ones they have up are from the Season 3 premiere back in October. I wonder if they will post the new one today. I was going to watch it on my lunch break, but now it looks like I will watch day break instead.

memphis,
I love Texas football and I am a Texan, but I haven't seen Friday night lights. Is it worth a watch?

Capcom said...

Happy Lost-Eve! Hey, we can start a new pagan holiday! (just kidding, Lord) :o)

Re: apes....when you think about it, the comparison is an insult to simians, as chimps and monkeys have been astronauts! That's more than the ABC CEOs can say on their resumes, haha.

That was good Memphish, :o) probably the only Olympics hockey game that anyone remembers (or, the only one memorable) was the one where the US beat the Rooskies 20-some years ago!

Mellisa, when I was big into hockey, I liked Mario and the Penguins the best. Something about the underdogs getting to the top always appeals to me, and their coach at that time was a very nice old guy. I got to see a few Rangers and Devils games when I lived in NY though. But when the NHL sold out and created a team called the Mighty Ducks, I started to loose interest. :-p After that I mostly followed favorite players like Sakic, Lemiuex, Turgeon, Richter, Turcotte, Lindross... Heh-heh, I got to meet Brian Trottier at Pennys in Poughkeepsie once, he was in the hardware section signing photos for some reason. :-D

Thanks for all the links y'all! Everyone is so generous with what they find, it's so great to have a blog with so many sharing fan-peeps.

I wish that we could have a huge conference call tomorrow night, and we could talk to each other while we watch!

BTW, if anyone lives near a Borders, they've got all their clanedars on sale for $1.00, and they might have some Lost ones left. I got one last night.

Dennis said...

Memphish,

I just watched the special at lunch, and it doesn't talk about season 3 at all. You wouldn't really miss anything if you pass, but there is some funny stuff in there from Jimmy Kimmel and Damon & Carlton.

JGZ350 said...I was going to watch it on my lunch break, but now it looks like I will watch day break instead.

Woo Hoo!

Also, there is a new post on BuddyTV speculating about "The Lost Experience II"

Capcom said...

Thanks for that quote from Cuse, Dennis......verrrrrry interesting indeed. A key word there is [[brought]]! Did he give away something with a Freudian slip (that the 815 passengers WERE specifically brought to the island?) or was it just a random word that he used? Or does it only mean that killers will kill again, con-men will con again (we saw that already), etc.? Hmmmmmmmmm.

Funny Memphish, about Christian Shepard being the cheerleader's father! :-D They did talk about connecting the shows, right?

Capcom said...

I just had a thought....if the Lostaways were meant to be brought to the island, perhaps it was because Dharma wanted to bring what the DI deems as "bad" or expendable people to the island to test the vaccine on, since the world could always stand to lose a few "bad" people via experimentation (or so they think). So then when they are on the island, the Others take all the "good" peeps, to keep them separate from the "bad" ones. Once the good ones are weeded out and safe, then the Others can start working on the bad ones by shooting them with vaccine or virus darts, native style. :o)

This of course would need to to be supported by the theory that the plane was supposed to land, not crash, which also requires fulfilment of the theory that there is a runway/landing-trap of some sort on the island.

Eh, just a random brain-burp.

blueheron13 said...

I don't think there is any question that they were all "brought" to the island somehow. Otherwise all the connections between them would just be...coincidences, I guess. And that wouldn't make for a satisfying end to the story.

CattyGirl said...

Anyone else hear the podcast with Michael Emerson's interview? I love this guy. He seems so down-to-earth that I appreciate his screen time even more. Doese that make sense? The Jay and Jack podcast got permission to add the interview to their feed and I heard it there. He gives some interesting answers and speculations of his own since the actors are kept in the dark to a certain extent too.

CattyGirl said...

Blueheron13 - I watched the Guide and the first 3 episodes in a block and I found them much better this second time around. I will most likely watch the remaining 3 tonight.

Capcom said...

Hi Blue, yes but isn't that the closest we've ever gotten to TPTB actually admitting it? If that is indeed what he's doing. Unless I missed a podcast or article along the way (which I have), I only ever heard them say maybe yes, or maybe not. Some peeps on other blogs still don't believe the Lostaways were meant to be there. Not me, I'm with you. :o)

blueheron13 said...

Capcom,
Yup, that's the first time I've heard TPTB admit anything like that.

Cattygirl,
I agree. Even the Locke episode, which I really ranted about back in the fall, I enjoyed the second time around. The trippy Boone vision must have taken me too much by surprise the first time 'round.

Scoutpost said...

One more day! One more day! Doing a happy dance!

When is the next podcast- after the new epi tomorrow or is there one in the works now?

Where is the Jay and Jack podcast? Guess I can look it up. Would like to hear Michael Emerson.

So I guess we can't shut the door on the whole "they were brought there for a reason" theory. Very interesting....

I didn't get to see Heroes last night... so who IS Claire's father? Still trying to catch up on that show. Oh well. That would've been too funny if it was Christian Shepherd. Could you imagine the tailspin that would've caused?! Probably would bump ratings up on both shows, but alas two networks coming together like that I'm sure will never happen.

Dennis said...

I personally don't believe the "runway" theory, that they were trying to bring the Losties to the island. I don't think the Others knew the Losties were coming - it is just a lucky coincidence for Ben.

I don't think the Losties were "selected" by Dharma (or anyone) to be on that plane. Each Lostie was on that plane for his or her own reasons, circumstances, and/or fate. I think what Carlton is saying is that their "demons" are what caused them to be on that plane - Kate's arrest, Locke's walkabout, etc... Being on the island is letting them work out their inner demons.

memphish said...

I don't think there is a runway either, at least not one big enough for Oceanic Flight 815. I also think that the crosses are indeed coincidences. The idea is that we are more closely linked to a seemingly random group of people than we would normally guess, sort of like the connections we've beginning to make here on the Blog.

blueheron13 said...

Oh, man, thinking about all these theories, especially after re-watching the last 6 eps, makes my head spin.

I think for a while I'll go with the assumption that we haven't yet been given enough critical information to figure out the big island mysteries--that there are probably important pieces of the puzzle that we have absolutely no way of knowing about, yet.

Nah, it's more fun to speculate!

And I really want the TPTB to have a wonderfully creative way of explaining the Lostie connections, regardless of whether Dharma or the Others had anything to with the Losties beings on that plane. I want there to be something more than fate or coincidence operating.

Hi Guys,

Back at last, I hate it not being able to access the blog at work :(

Looks like the ARG was just a fan site - the countdown just leads to a page with streamers and Feb 6th on it (you can see it on Dark UFO's blog) - Oh well wishful thinking.

Scoutpost love the idea that Christian was Claire Bennet's Dad - funny thing is we were talking about the same thing on the Fuselage!

Anyway must go, I'm meant to be putting a whole load of clothes up on eBay for my wife -oops

memphish said...

Entertainment Weekly's website has a feature on sins you've committed in the name of TV. Here's what one person wrote:

I was teaching a college class on Wednesday nights last year, and I let the class out 90 minutes early every week that a new Lost episode aired, so that I could make it home in time to watch. I never told the students... but if any were Lost fans they could have easily figured it out... and I probably should have been fired. —It's a secret

And another:
I'm not going out for Valentine's Day with my girlfriend this year because it's on a Wednesday and conflicts with Lost. Beat that! —Brian F.

I've already told my husband all I want for Valentine's Day is for him not to talk to me after 8:55 pm Central time that night, and a card, and some chocolate to eat while I watch LOST.

Any other confessions LOCOs?

Capcom said...

Agreed all, and if the connections are nothing more than "six degrees of separation", like the season 2 DVD sort of eludes to...well, I just hope that it's more than that. 'Nuff said.

But I would still love to see an aircraft carrier type of landing trap on the island somewhere! :o)

Mavensaid:That would be the best Valentine Day's ever! (However, there would be time to get in a nice, romantic dinner!)

No dinner because we also have a 7-year-old who has choir from 6:30-7:30 and school the next day. Trust me, the gift I've requested is enough.

memphish said...

The clip show that is airing tomorrow night is not the one on the ABC video player. It is on the main Lost site at ABC here:ABC LOST as the Featured Video. I've only watched the first 3 minutes so far and good news, Peter Coyote is not the narrator. It is aimed for the newbie Lostie, but I'm still going to give it a look tonight. I'll let you know post-watch if it's worth it or not for pre-viewing or for watching tomorrow night when it airs.

memphish said...

Warning, this post is long.

I can recommend the clip show. I am so pumped and primed now I might have to spend tomorrow rewatching the first 6 episodes.

There's not really anything new, one or two clarifications maybe. Most of the clips are from Season 1, but it's a great reminder even on that 3 inch screen, of the things we love about the show.

Cuse again talks about "the reason they are on the island in the first place" like Dennis mentioned from the other show which might indicate that these people were brought here for a reason. "And who brought us here John?" Now that's the question isn't it.

Warning for the non-shippers, the triangle is ever-present as is Charlie and Claire.

It reminded me that the one thing I most want to know is: What the heck are the Whispers?

Here's something from "A Tale of Two Cities" that I didn't catch before. Ben tells Goodwin and Ethan to "Listen, learn; don't get involved." Ethan didn't quite follow that last one, did he?

The show reminded me just how awesome Michael Emerson is. I'd love to see someone put together a clip of nothing but Henry's mind games that he played while he was being held in the Hatch. That would be fantastic.

I also didn't notice this in the first 6 episodes: the Others gave Hurley his backpack back? I think we can right that off as poetic license to keep Desmond family-friendly.

As I've hinted at in the past I am a Jater (I know that's not really PC around here), but let me ask y'all. Is there chemistry between Juliet and Jack? Because I'm just not seeing it, and grant it I don't want to. I mean the guy doesn't make a move on Kate for 2 months, but he's going to on his tormentor? I don't get it. Please feel free to ignore this paragraph.

And finally, given that my husband is a surgeon "Kidney Sac" has become a punchline around our household. There is no such thing. So if we're trying to throw a red herring out around here we invoke the kidney sac.

And now it is only 24 hours and 15 minutes! I just can't wait. Night all.

Scoutpost said...

Oh my gosh- TBM I watched that epi a few nights ago and was thinking the same thing! That's an awful lot of beans- of course it wasn't Sam who counted them, it was Sam who guessed the number.... But seriously, the fair guy could've lied and who in the world would count all the beans to check up on him?

thinbluemime said...

scoutpost, LOL, I know :)

Did you ever ponder the size of the container necessary to hold that many beans?

Lets just hope that the rest of LOST season 3 provides us with some answers :)

Dennis said...I don't think they would make two different shows called "Lost Survivor Guide"?

Ahhh...they didn't... :)

The old show is called "Lost Survival Guide", the new show is called "Lost Survivor Guide"

thinbluemime said...I am still trying to figure out how [the guy at the fair] counted 5 billion beans

That's easy. You take 100 beans then weigh them, then you weigh the empty jar. Then you fill the jar with beans and weigh the full jar and subtract the weight of the empty jar. Then you can calculate the exact number of beans in the jar based on the weight of the 100 beans.

thinbluemime said... Did you ever ponder the size of the container necessary to hold that many beans?

I hear it was a big as a pony :)

Scoutpost said...

LOL Dennis I must have missed that line! Of course there are different kinds and sizes of ponies-so I guess if we really want to know we'll just have to do it ourselves....hmm I wonder if I can get it done before LOST starts up again?!

Good Morning Loco's-

It's here! The day we have all been patiently waiting for. Just a matter of time until we will be discussing and analysising this great episode.

I watched the new Lost Survivor Guide last night and it was done very well. I listened to the comments from Cuse and Lindelof very closely hoping they would slip and give away a little clue. Watching it on a 3" screen is much fun though. I will enjoy watching it in HDTV.

Luckyguylikeme, no problem with the age question. I'm 42/m from Houston, Texas. See amused2be here it wasn't that hard.

Dennis, I watched 'What if they are connnected' at lunch yesterday. Wow, that was the best so far of Daybreak. I will be watching 'What if he is free' today at lunch. I'm almost there. Also, is there a place to go chat after Lost tonight?

Chucklez3 I know where Calera is. It's on the way to Clanton and the Peach Park which is the route we take to Destin during peach season.

Dennis, Great job on the counter!

There are lots of articles out there today. Lost-Media has a bunch, DarkUFO links to some, IGN has a Josh Holloway interview. I think I'm going to stay away for the most part today. I'll review tomorrow post-episode. Wow! Post-episode!

Oh, and jgz350 my sister and brother-in-law used to live in Houston. Enjoy the winter. 100% humidity will return soon I'm sure.

As far as age goes, today I'm 38, but tomorrow I'll be 39. I'm hanging on tightly to my 30's, but good to hear that 40's aren't too bad.
Houston- lived there 7 1/2 years, and jgz you're right, you never get used to it, you just deal with it. Now I'm in Phoenix where it's very dry but 116 (in the summer). And honestly, it's easier to take the dry heat.

Thrasher- so what do you have planned today since you took off work?

Gotta say, I don't like all these new idiosyncracies with the new blogger.

Ugh - I wish I could have stayed home today, too. We haven't had too much more snow, but it is bitter cold. This morning the wind chill was -10. Unfortunately, even when everybody else is closed, we're considered "essential staff," and we have to come in anyway.

All I want to do today is troll around the web, reading interviews and articles about the premiere!

Happy early birthday, scoutpost!

Yes, Happy Early Birthday Scoutpost. My present to you is that I will not mention the last 5 years. You and the other people who've said "Roll Tide" will understand my magnanimous gift.

Thanks melissa_lossa!

Wow I just read the Doc Jensen article- which you don't want to read if you don't want any spoiler info- it just makes the waiting even harder! I SO can't wait to get some of these answers and see what the big picture is next season. It makes my mind go into overdrive trying to figure it all out. Speaking of which: Did any of ya'll see Dom on Jimmy Kimmel last night? Apparently Damon has let some of the cast in on the big secret now so they're not all in the dark as to what is going to happen.

LOL Memphish- it does take a little bravado to yell Roll Tide these days!

Ok I'm really just typing this so I can be the 300th comment, but I did want to say to whichever admin did it, that I really like the countdown clock on the front page. Very cool.

I made the countdown timer, but David took it down for some reason :(

BTW, there is a new post!!!

scoutpost, happy early b-day to you! Don't worry, you are fast approaching 40 and it's not all that bad.
Yes, I did see Dom on Kimmel last night. I was a bit surprised when Dom said Damon divulged the big secret of the show to a select few losties. I wonder if he was pulling our chains on that one. Also, I can't believe he didn't watch the Super Bowl and that he was making fun of American Football. Also, I read somewhere today that Dom and Lilly will be wedding this summer.
