SEASON 3 COMING TO U.S. ON OCTOBER 4TH

Season 3 is coming. The anticipation is building. Are you prepared? A great way to ready ourselves for Season 3 is to look back at Season 2. On one of our favorite Lost websites, you can review the most pertinent facts from Live Together, Die Alone and other episodes (choose episodes from drop down menu).

Without going crazy with the spoilers, let's chat about the big questions we hope will be addressed in the season premiere, A Tale of Two Cities (featuring a Jack backstory)...

What will we learn about the Others and their home? How does this relate to what we've learned in The Lost Experience?

How much will we see of Desmond, Penny Widmore, and her Artic Portugese-speaking buddies?

What actually happend with the fail-safe/violet light/loud noise/electromagnetic anomoly? How will that affect the current situation on the island?

Will we learn more about the Four-Toed Foot? What bearing would the pre-Dharma history of the island have on the current plot of the show?

i'm thinking (or rather hoping) that the light flash and noise didn't kill or seriously injure any of the people down in the hatch at the time (like eko, locke), but they will be somehow changed (physically or mentally) when they emerge.

Can't wait until the UK finishes the season so they can join us. A big question I have from the season finale was the comment in the podcast that we've seen the smoke monster in Season 2 and not known it was him. Could the monster be behind the very informative visions people are getting?

Capcom said...

Yay, for the new Lost Series Blog! Thanks! In the new season I want to find out if Desmond, Locke and Eko are still alive, why Charlie didn't even care if Eko and Locke were dead or alive after the discharge, and why the Others took Jack, Kate and Swayer specifically. And most importantly, how is it that Penny is monitoring anomolies, and for what reason? I also hope that we are told more about what Smokey actually is, or what is its purpose, I think we've waited long enough to find out.

Interesting idea about the healings being revoked. But Sun wasn't the one who was healed, Jin was. The doctor initially said that Sun had a problem but later (in a car I believe) confessed to her than the problem was Jin's. So Jin was the one that was healed (if the baby is even his, which I believe it is).

Twinkle said...

I hope the Sun/Jin and the Penny/Desmond things turn into true romances where people are faithful against all odds and truly sacrifice for each other.

P.S. The new blog page looks great, such a nice vibrant green (goes well with the island and spooky science). I am looking forward to the creative and civilized chat about the new episodes by this interesting community of thinkers.

Yeah!!!! This is gonna be great! Can't wait until Oct. 4th. So many questions re:

***spoiler warning***

the monster, the underwater hatch (?), how are Jack, Kate, and Sawyer going to get free, what's going to happen with Michael and Walt, etc.

***end spoiler***

Glad to have a place to talk about it with people who are as interested in the show as I am.

I'm voting for that too Twinkle! Faithfullness against the odds is rarely shown in TV shows. I believe that writers usually, wrongly, think that staying together will be too boring for viewers, not realising that the true difficulties of sticking together no matter what happens can be much more interesting for the story.

I LOVE THIS! Thanks, Admin, for starting it up now.

*************SPOILER******************

I just got the latest EW with the Fall TV Preview. Here are some snippets about LOST: Regarding last scene of S2: "That scene obviously suggests a new direction for the show, but we're not promising when we're going to get to it" (Cuse) Lindelof: "Hanging over the storytelling in S3 is this idea that there is an outside world. "Season 3 is about the Others, you will learn who these people are, the construct of their society, and their history." (Cuse) And their reasons for kidnapping Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Kate pairs up with one of them. "We'll learn what transpired after Desmond turned the hatch's fail-safe key and lit up the firmament." (Cuse) "On a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 10"(Lindelof) "Something's going to happen in the middle of season 3 that blows the dors off the show again." (Lindelof)

Re: "Something's going to happen in the middle of season 3 that blows the doors off the show again." I get the feeling that this means that there will be a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of the first 6 eps before the long mid-season break, that will drive us crazy till the new eps start up again.

Okay I've said that stuff before, so I am indeed posting because I can.

I was hoping that Blogger would allow HTML text color tags, so we could post spoilers as white-text that needed to be swiped to be seen, but sadly, I can't find a tag convention that Blogger accepts here.

Admins, any advice?

Hi Guys

Wow TLC is up and running - just thought I would sign in and save a seat so to speak before I head of to bed as it's heading towards midnight here.

Twinkle - loved your comments about waiting for Season 2 of lost to finish in the UK LOL - from memory I watched the season 2 finale (in the UK) about 2 days after the US showing. Bit Torrent is a great thing - I can't stand ad breaks and I am to impatient to wait for the show to be on over hear . I read the other day that the UK downloads more TV from the net than any other country, so I am currently watching season 2 of Prison Break direct from the US (thanks guys). There have certainly been a lot of home made lost dvds floating around over here.

Anyway grat to know that we've got a place to hang out in season 3

catch you guys later - enjoy Labor day if I'm not back tommorow.

I'm off to bed :)

Admin and Group,

I know earlier (admin) you said you wouldn't want to do a new podcast for season three (because there were so many out there.) But allow me to spit out an idea that could work. What if we branched out and allowed each member of this new community to supply audio messages that could be easily edited and created by some very simple means into a weekly program. I know quaility would differ, some shows would be good, others would be bad but it would offer a unique perspective by sheer numbers. I could offer my services just too see if it worked and I could create some intro and outro's for each episode, heck I could even try hosting it. The Lost Community Podcast could be the one podcast that offers a true and varying fan participation. Let's talk, let's think about it, let's get some feedback, and maybe it could work and not waste your time.

I agree that there's an underwater hatch to learn about in S3. I think it may be how we see the shark (since the TVguide preview dvd specifically mentions the shark as being one of the big mysteries, I'm assuming it has to at least make an appearance)

Whatever happens, I'm glad to have this place to come freak about about it when it does.

Spoiler Rant:
I never understood ppl that complained about unannounced spoilers. If I did not want to know any episode details prior to an ep airing, I would stay off the forums.
And I know , when the last Lost airs, I will be sad, but if someone authentic would post the full script of the final Lost episode, by golly, I would read it in a heatbeat.
Isn't that why we all lurk, read, research and discuss Lost? To reach the conclusion, the final entry in the Lost epic?
So, for what it's worth, spoil away!

Wow, Angry, I can't believe I forgot all about poor Hurley! I was so busy pondering Jack, Kate, and Sawyer's fate that I never stopped to think about what Hurley was going to have to confront as he headed back to his camp.

We know all the losses he's had to suffer through. The loss of Libby might be the final straw, and maybe we'll get to see the emergence of Rambo-Hurley! Payback is a great motivator!

Also, maybe we'll finally find out why he was nicknamed 'Hurley' to begin with...

Morning all: One more day closer to Oct. 4th! LOL

Re spoilers: Right now I see how they are serving a purpose for the people left not done with S2. However, once S3 starts here in the US on Oct. 4th and posts reflect which episode we are talking about, those who haven't seen or don't want to know about an episode they haven't seen yet should not read the comments section. Otherwise, every comment will have the spoiler warning.

It's probably not very fair for UK/AUS people since, by the time they see an episode the US people have talked about weeks ago, they would be the only ones posting under that episode. I hope this does not become a major issue/problem and causes any hard feelings. It's just the nature of the beast. You all know how we are...once a new post goes up...the old posts die.

**********Spoiler..maybe..********

What if the thing that is to happen half way through the season that will blow our socks off, is this: After Kate possibly picks to be with Sawyer, Jack gets extremely angry and decides to stay with the others. Then when Kate and Sawyer are trying to escape, Jack points a gun at one of them, and shoots it. Right when he shoots it, the screen turns black and all we hear is kates screaming. LOST

*******************************

Just my thoughts on what could happen.

Am I the only one, or does everyone's front page show only 10 comments?

thinbluemime said...

maven, I agree. It's to much of a burden on the poster to determine , who has seen what...
I do not monitor what the UK or Japan has seen, I dont have the time.
So the responsibility MUST fall back on the reader, to determine what he/she - does/doesnt want to know.
If posters must put a spoiler warning in every post, why not just have a generic warning at the entry link to the whole blog, so ppl know there might be spoiler info inside the 457 (?) following posts.

but what about the air hostess as well. i heard that she apparently makes another appearance in the show, maybe as a full time character. but how did she escape the clutches of the others (the good or the bad guys?)

Since the first 6 episodes likely deal with the Others camps, she could be in the show because Kate, Jack, and Sawyer encounter her there. So there's no reason for her to escape to who up.

Something to consider: How is the ending of S2 going to affect Hugo? I mean after all, it was almost like "you're not important enough for us to keep Hugo, now go home and tell the losties to stay away."

I'm not sure if that the others feel Hurley is unimportant. They specifically asked for him, not "Jack, Kate, Sawyer, and somebody to carry a message." I get the feeling that they like him or respect him or maybe need him but I don't know why. You're right though that Hurley might interpret their actions to mean he's not important.

Twinkle...yesterday, I commented to you about the "seeing of the monster when we didn't know we were seeing it" from the podcast...what are your theories and how important do you think the monster will be at the start of S3?

Thanks for bringing it up again. I really don't know what to think of the smoke monster. TPTB have denied repeatedly and emphatically that it is not a cloud of nanobots. It would also have been too easy for the fans to explain. I bet they want a more complicated explanation.

The smoke monster read into Echo's mind when he encountered it and showed him images from his memory.
(OT-This concept is interesting to me because I wonder if the mind even stores memories of events like frames of a movie. From things I've read and my own experiences, it seems more likely that the brain selectively captures features of an event and stores them in associated memories throughout the brain, but not in a "videography" kind of format. But for the story's sake it's much easier to assume that the brain does store a "video" of events.)

Anyway, I think it is highly likely that if the smoke monster can retrieve images from the mind that it could also project images into the mind. Several of the visions/dreams people on the island experienced contained information not available to their subconcious, leading me to conclude that another force was at work. Later I heard the podcast and it fit when they said we had seen the smoke monster in other forms.

The smoke monster also shows signs of intelligence but it is unclear as to whether it is artificial or sentient.

It reminds me of another sci-fi show "Earth" something that I saw a long time ago in reruns. People settle a planet that has an accessible psychic life. Beings lived underground and only communicated psychically. They could move through earth because of their psychic connection to it. The humans that landed there started having strange dreams and visions. Something similar could be happening on the island and the smoke monster could be a part of it.

The nature, purpose, and current operations of the smoke monster are my biggest questions about the island. From the preview information I've read though I don't think it's going to be explained soon.

thinbluemime said...

Smoke Monster, What do we know?

It flys, and spends time underground.
It has physical properties, it can grab physical objects (Locke), it can kill (815 pilot)
It seems to be able to read minds (Eko).
It seems to appear when trees blow up.

What else do we "know for sure"?

maven said...

Here's what Lostpedia has on the Smoke Monster. Quite a lot.

From the scene where Charlie is in the tree, and Eko
is on the ground, when the smoke monster appears.I have sped this up,
400%, so it will be unrecognizable from the show. If you have Audacity
(freeware to manipulate audio) you can slow it down 400% for the
original sound you originally heard. One more note, the chipmunk sound at
the end is Charlie running towards Ekoand scolding Eko for not running
from the monster.

Hi Guys

Just thougth I'd chip in my thoughts about spoilers being a UK viewer.

I think the ***spoiler*** tag is useful but I think that it should probably run to the US scheduling. I know here in the UK that it is unbelievable the number of people who either download Lost off the net or get in on a copied DVD from a friend or colleague (it makes you very popular in the office ;)).

I generally get to watch Lost within 2 or 3 days of the US air date and I imagine a lot of the non-US lost fans are similar. Saying that I always read a transcript of the episode as soon as it's aired.

Anyway I'll shut up now as I am in work and as I was off yesrterday I should be catching up.

Picked up the S2 DVDs today! No obvious glyphs on the packaging, exterior or interior. Haven't watched the bonus material yet. I'd be surprised if there were any on here, since it would kinda mess with the continuity.

So I've been reading the various spoilers at spoilerfix.com and I think I've come to the conclusion....

*****SPOILER*****

Jack's Days may be numbered! Here goes my proof (and all this is speculation)....

***According to an 8/19 Spoiler by Dryope******

08/19 - According to pictures that leaked on the net, there will be a flashback where Jack performs the Heimlich manoeuvre on a little blond girl in a park. Source: Dryope [Note: This flashback was surely shot out of order to accommodate Matthew Fox who is rumored to have asked time off (to shoot another movie?).]

****Followed by this story on 9/11 from Kristen on E! Online****

09/11 - I can tell you that at some point in the first four episodes, [Kate] does confess that she loves someone on the island. It is one of the most heart-wrenching (in every single possible meaning of the phrase “heart-wrenching”) scenes you will ever see. Source: Kristin on E!Online

Now why would Kate's decision be so heart-wrenching unless she's standing over or clutching Jack's dead body??

Hmmmm.....

In the S2 finale, there was a brief moment where they showed one of the walls of the tunnel in the hatch was exploded open.
