dedjezter,
Ummm, Net Rumors are saying Lost Season 3 Ep 7 (Not In Portland) may be floating around the net , nearly a month before it's official airing on February 7, 2007.

It is probably best if we do not discuss this here, but I do appreciate your offer to help.

We must be good, LOL, OK?

I just can hardly wait for the show to start...LOL

Hi Friends, I hope you all had a relaxing weekend!

To return to Wopa's question, I did actually get my nephews interested in Lost, I forgot. They aren't random people, but during the summer when school was out, they were over every other day while Mom and Dad were at work. Inevitably, they saw me doing the crazy TLE refresh-shuffle on the computer every hour, on the hour, and were curious. I told them about the TV show and the game, and then they watched my tapes and got hooked! I guess two young boys who love superheroes and video games with magical powers didn't think that Lost was too weird. So now I have some real-life buddies (as opposed to my invisible blogging LoCo buddies) to watch Lost with, which is nice.

Take care this week everyone! :o) TLCM, are you OK??????? XO

P.S. With all our talk about TLE-2 this weekend, whenever I check the blog, I get all nervous thinking that maybe I'll see new posts announcing that the game is on! Waaaah!

Capcom said...

Uh-oh. Did you all see this headline on Drudge or elsewhere today?

"FEWER SERIALS AND CLOSURE FOR 'LOST' ON ABC'S HORIZON..."

http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=11372

We've all heard the "five season" story, but I hope that they don't give up and cut it shorter than that!!!

capcom....

IMO the Lost creators are pushing hard to end Lost sooner then ABC wants.

If you missed it, scroll up for a link I posted about the Lost Nightline interview....

Lindelof compares, Lost with a Michelangelo, Sistine Chappel painting, where the Pope (ABC) keeps telling him to keep painting , even though the work of art is completed.

That comment brought a chuckle to the lips of Abrams and Cuse, but I bet they ALL feel that in their hearts.

I love Lost enough to see it finish as a beautiful art form, not some ghetto graffitti :)

Thanks TBM, wow.

Well, no one wants to see Lost turn into the last few seasons of the Files, I think we all agree on that. I just hope that we don't get the kind of aborted ending that we got with TLE. That is, very unsatisfying, cheesy, and half-a**ed. :o(

WOOHOO! 23 days to go!

Capcom, thanks for the article.

I'm glad to see they haven't disavowed knowledge of Day Break :)

CattyGirl said...

Great article. I hope there is an ending planned out and they release that info to us.

...also I hope that Day Break returns to ABC.com so I can see an ending. :( If the last episodes are already filmed, why aren't they streaming them?

maven said...

Morning all!

Here's a link to the L.A. Times article discussing the "end" of Lost. Personally, I agree that the network shouldn't drag this out longer than the story demands.

Dennis said...

CattyGirl said...If the last episodes are already filmed, why aren't they streaming them?

Apparently, there were some "music licensing" issues that had to be worked out, which had to wait until after the holidays. Since they are not showing the episodes on the air, they probably don't want to pay the same amount for the music, IMO.

Hey all!
I haven't yet linked to the article about LOST's run, but read something about it on yahoo news. I had always heard that they were planning on 4 seasons and that maybe it would go into a little of 5, or 4 seasons and a movie. Whatever...
I hope they just stay true to the story and are allowed to finish when it needs to be and how it needs to be. I'm with capcom- don't want it dragged out, but don't want to be Ralphied a la TLE either.

Joann & Cam- glad to see ya'll back. I think a lot of us took time off and are just now coming back- or coming back out of lurkdom. The countdown is going!

Hey Wopa- I might've mentioned TLE to a few random people (since they're strangers), moreso than friends or acquaintances because I too get that weird blank stare from people who don't watch. What kills me most is, I have several friends who watch the show but who aren't really into it like we LoCos. They are always asking me questions, but the questions are always like, "hey have you heard about the purgatory theory?" and of course I'm thinking (but am too polite to say) "yeah like 2 years ago". It gets old after a while. They were impatient and complaining about the first six epis of Season 3, I wonder if they have what it takes to stick it out. Like Maven said- thank goodness for you guys!

Capcom said...

Thanks for the official-number-count-day-notice Dennis! I think that since the countdown is within "the numbers", we can start the Swan blip-blip in our heads!!! :o)

That's funny Scoutpost. Gee, I can't imagine how anyone could only be a little into Lost. I figured that it's so weird, either one would REALLY want to know what it all means, or they could not care less about what the heck it's about.

All these articles about The End (got me more worried than The Break) trouble me. I can imagine the same type of conversation between TPTB(Lost) and ABC, much the same as we pictured it going down between them with TLE:

ABC: Look, this is all nice but it's getting expensive, fans are complaining, and we don't know what to do, so end it now.

Lost: But guys, we have this great ending planned, and....

ABC: Tough nuggies. Everyone is complaining, and it costs too much. End of discussion, end of the game/series.

I don't think I'm going to complain anymore (remind me of that when I start up again). And I might even send ABC an email telling them how much I love Lost and how I really enjoyed The Break. Heh-heh. Seriously, ABC seems to be so whimpy about making -- and sticking to -- any decisions concerning Lost, that I am very nervous about their possibility to bail on the whole thing if their feet get too much colder. Feels like whimpy management. I wonder if ABC did that, if TPTB would have the nerve to pitch it to another network to finish it out, like other shows have done? FoxTV is a pretty bold network, maybe they would take it on if ABC wants to abort prematurely. Oh well, just my mind doing crazy things on an empty stomach.

thinbluemime said...

capcom, your impression may have been correct about the ARG and ABC's pressure to end it abruptly. But I see the Lost TV show differently. Actually just the opposite :)

With Lost TV , I see ABC wanting to extend it until the last bit of money is squeezed out of it, while the creative team (Abrams, Cuse, Lindelof, etc) want to end the series within a time frame that tells the story to it's completion, minus the fillers that just drag it out, for the sake of generating revenue.

Television, is simply storytelling by the hour. Imagine telling "Sleeping Beauty" with a lot of filler. Sleeping Beauty would never kiss the Prince. But we would learn a lot about the Prince's half brother's sister in-law that lives in Detroit and is anorexic.....with a skin condition :)

What the ABC executives may not be thinking of, is a happy creative team......is creative.

Once that team, has explored and exploited a storyline, terminate it. Because the creative team has tons of great ideas. Those new ideas get the creative juices flowing again, and another Lost will be born.

Abrams has already gone to Paramount and Warner Bros. Cuse and Lindelof can too.

Can ABC risk losing a LOST creative team to a competitor? LOL

Just my 2 cents :)

Capcom said...

Schmooo, that is one weird news video! Who were they talking about from another show, that would not be on Lost? I couldn't understand the computer voice's stuttering.

TBM I agree, and understand the TV series mindset and creativity process. But ABC management seems to not be very stable in their decision making skills this year/season (2006-2007). They didn't even have the guts to stick it out with the Daybreak commitment for a few more weeks. NBC blew it when they cancelled JAG, and then JAG went to CBS to live on for many more years (or was it the other way around). It wouldn't be the first time a network made a stupid suicidal mistake. The question may not be "can they" risk it, but "would they"? We'll see, let's hope for the best. From the looks of ABC's sliding ratings, they really can't afford to risk losing the Lost team. But TPTB seem to have the viewers/fans in mind according to today's "The End" articles.

And your 2 cents is always interesting to read TBM. :-)

memphish said...

Re all the Lost is setting an end point news. Given ABC's abysmmal (sp?) record with the other serialized shows it airs, I think the LOST PTB are smart to do anything they can to control an end point. Given the complete disappearance of both The Nine and DayBreak if we have any chance of finding out what the heck the island is then we've got to rely on a great negotiation by Lindeloff, Cuse, et al. Otherwise we may end up with a crap ending like we got with the lovely reunion that ended TLE this summer or worse nothing more than a promise that we might get something streamed on ABC.com.

As a further note, my husband and I have watched the first 4 hours of this season of 24. I have not watched 24 since Season 2 when I wanted the bomb to go off, but only if you could assure me that Kimberly would indeed by inside the blast zone. 24, to me, is like a Tom Clancy novel. You want to believe that the bad guys are indeed that bad and the good guys are that good and smart, but reality is why I love LOST. Reality is much more complicated. Bad isn't always bad (Sawyer and the Others?); good isn't always good (Jack, Sayid, Locke). LOST challenges me intellectually like no other show. It makes me think how would I act in that situation since I might have been minding my own business flying from Sydney to LA when the plane I was on went down. It makes me look at more complicated cultural references like The Third Policeman, Watership Down, The Brothers Karamazov, To Kill a Mockingbird, etc. and I welcome that! Is it Feb. 7th yet?

Don't get me wrong, there are other shows out there I enjoy--Friday Night Lights, Ugly Betty, Heroes, 24, but not one of them keeps me up at night wondering what the heck Ben and his merry band of Others are up to, why oh why would Kate pick Sawyer when he's a no good lying bum, though a very sexy one, how the heck does Desmond know what he knows and if he does know the future why didn't he use that power for the last 3 years, why is there a four-toed statue, and who are the guys in the snow and what is Penny going to do with their info? And that, that is why I love LOST, because the reality is I can't stop thinking about it. Aaargh! Only 22 days to go.

The Golden Globe winners were announced last night. No awards for Lost. :(

Lost was nominated for Best Television Series - Drama, but the award went to Grey's Anatomy.

Evangeline Lilly was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series - Drama, but the award went to Kyra Sedgwick from The Closer.

Lost wasn't even nominated for a People's Choice award.

Shmooo... I recognize those news anchors from Half Life 2 :)

CattyGirl said...

Dennis - thanks for the info on Day Break and the Globes. I was wondering if we had any winners. I did have the show on in between watching 24, but I saw Ugly Betty win over The Office and had to shake my head.

memphish said...

Cattygirl,

It did seem despite NBC airing the Globes that the Hollywood Foreign Press was more interested in sucking up to ABC.

I really like Ugly Betty. It's a cute show, and it isn't anything like the Office which I don't watch that much but mostly because of poor scheduling by NBC. In fact, but for streaming on ABC.com I wouldn't have watched Betty. If NBC would stream The Office instead of just giving me 2 minutes I might become a fan.

Thanks for the link to The Fuselage, DA........I think.

Every other time I pull up a new page on the site, at the top is a graphic obscene porn advertisement! What gives with that site???? They moderate intolerant and offensive un-PC language, but allow adverts with smarmy in-your-face pornographic imagery??????

I just sent a nasty-gram to the webmaster person. Geez, I don't think I'll be frequenting that website again any time too soon. I'm not a prude, but I don't appreciate porn images being unexpectedly foisted on my eyes without my choosing to see it (which I wouldn't anyway). Pretty sickening.

Capcom said...

Hi all,

I just got a reply back from The Fuselage and they said that it is my computer that is infected with this porn ad thing via spyware. Could someone explain to me how if it's imbedded in the website, that it can be caused by something in my computer? I know little-to-nothing about that kind of thing. The ads are not coming up as a pop-up, but like I said, imbedded in the webpage. The Fusie site is the ONLY site that these ads have ever come up on. They said that I should scan my system to find and remove the offending software.....how would I do that?

Thanks mucho in advance for any and all suggestions. :o)

Joseph Finchum said...

Capcom,
They are full of it. I just went there and saw the same porn ad as you did (well maybe not the same one) , but you were reffering to the banner ad at the top , I assume. There is definitely NO spyware on my mac and I only just started using Safari. They must have it up on there site because it shows in Safari, I.E., and Firefox as well.

As to finding the offending software, I don't know how you would go about that, but don't even bother since it is in there HD not yours.

I never really liked it over there anyway. Just a bunch of kids that think they know everything about everything and don't like to be proven wrong. Sucks for them.

capcom & dedjezter... I only see the porn ads if I click on DA's link above -- the site address in the link is different than just www.thefuselage.com.

And I don't really like that site either. It's very confusing to me or maybe I'm just a very confused person.

Capcom said...

Wow, thanks for the quick feedback Ded! And for checking the site also. Yes, I was referring to the banner at the top of the page. I just ran the Spybot program that is on my computer, and was going to go back and check to see if it still came up.

Do you mind if I reply to them and include a bit of what you have posted here? Of course I won't post your name, or anything that would reveal your ID, or that it came from a post on this blog, etc. If I reply with some info from someone more computer-savvy than myself, then they can't brush me off as the computer dweeb that I actually am. :o)

Thanks!

thinbluemime said...

Yes, Dark Angel has mentioned before, while he is at his work computer, he uses a proxy service. The proxy server is applying the questionable banner ads on your web browser by following the link in DA post above.

I am sure DA didnt do this on purpose, but maybe the link should be removed.

Capcom said...

Thanks also for checking and for your input, IB4UC!

Capcom said...

Oops, ditto TBM too, and in advance to everyone else's forthcoming help. You all are the best! I always get an education when viewing this blog!

ib4uc said...

tbm... yeah, I agree with you -- I don't think DA did that intentionally.

Capcom said...

Oh no, I don't believe that DA would do that to us on purpose. Thanks everyone for the help. And everyone else, be forewarned if you use that link!

G'night. :o)

Twinkle said...

But even if he didn't do it on purpose can we raz him about it like we did Thrasher in a dress?

CattyGirl said...

Memphish - NBC is missing out by not streaming the Office. I'm not really being fair about Ugly Betty, because I honestly didn't give it a chance. I suppose the same could be said about Lost. I don't watch the other shows in the category, but I know Lost has to be the best. ;)

Capcom said...

Oh I'd say that's a resounding affirmative on the DA razzing, Twinkle! ;-)

I felt like I needed to wash my eyes out with sulfuric acid after I got a load of all those banners! :-p

Twinkle said...

Aaahh, Dark Red Angel. I'd like to see that in a new avatar. ;-)

ib4uc said...

Hey DA... I did have to chuckle when I clicked on your link and there were boobies and buttocks galore. And thanks for the spyware info. I'd like to think there is nothing on my home computer but with 2 kids using it, you never know.

memphish said...

Does anyone know if NBC puts whole episodes of Heroes online the next day like ABC does with the shows it streams? 24 and Heroes are on against each other starting Monday.

For you Heroes fans out there, there's an article in USA Today today about Heroes return. It said they are going to run 6 straight episodes, take a break in March, and then run 5 more. Tim Kring even called them episode pods. Sound familiar?

Joseph Finchum said...

I don't know when they go up but I do know that NBC does run the entire episode of heroes on their website.

Yes it does sound familiar... lol

I however will not have that problem since I have never gotten into 24. The first season made me want to cut my eyes out and feed them to my brain, because it couldn't believe what it was being told. It is impossible for someone to be kidnapped twice in the same day. If you were kidnapped and rescued by the FBI, there is no chance in HE// that you would be free to go in enough time for you to be kidnapped a second time in 24 hours. But a mysterious island with a Hatch... totally plausable... LQTM

Joseph Finchum said...

Also does anyone here remember the addy for the hanso foundation clone page. Not the one that has Alvar on it now but the other one. I just got another friend hooked and I wanted to show him some of the game stuff, but couldn't remember the site addy.
ThanX
DeD

Twinkle said...

You can watch all the previous episodes of Heroes online now at nbc.com. I think that's a great way to build a fan base in a new serial show. It's been that way for the break but I don't know how much longer they'll keep them all available.

I haven't started watching 24 yet but we'll probably get it on DVD sometime. My main question is that if they follow the people on the show minute by minute, what about potty breaks?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Hee, hee.... twinkle, believe me, lack of potty breaks is by no means the biggest reality question facing 24. You just have to go with the flow and ignore that little voice in the back of your head saying "That could NEVER happen!" Plus, they switch back and forth between storylines, so I guess you're just supposed to assume that Kiefer's using the facilities or eating a sandwich when the focus is on someone else.

On the subject of Lost, there's some more info here on the great end-of-the-show debate. Sounds like ABC is not that against the idea: http://community.tvguide.com/thread.jspa?threadID=700016603
There's no spoilers in that article.

But there are spoilers here: http://www.tvguide.com/News-Views/Columnists/Ask-Ausiello/default.aspx

Also, Spoilerfix has a very interesting item under "General Spoilers" that will make some people here (myself included) VERY happy!

I'll say no more....

memphish said...

Thanx for the info. everyone.

Dedjezter, I pretty much felt that way about 24 after watching Season 2. I wanted the bomb (Season 2 bomb, as opposed to Season 6 bombs) to go off, but only if you could assure me that Kimberly would be immediately killed. This new season was getting so much buzz from people whose opinion I generally agree with that my husband and I decided to watch. Besides, four hours in 2 nights! That was great! Right now it's the only show my husband and I are watching together, so I'm going to try to preserve that.

Capcom said...

Hey Friends,

Dark Red Angel......yes, let's see that avatar! :-D

Ded, are you looking for the Hanso site that had "noshutdown" in the address, and still had most of the hacks functioning? I tried that URL, and it seems to be really shut down now, and does not exist:

http://www.thehansofoundation.org/adkahdskja2897429834ahjkncawuye32782374/hanso_noshutdown.swf

Maybe there is another one out there somewhere, it would be a shame to not ever get to see it again. Maybe check on Lostpedia? BUT, another URL that does still work, with an explaination of the site through TLE which goes through all the hacks and what-not, is here:

http://lxicon.com/hanso2/

This site has images of the Hanso web pages that can be enlarged at least, so your friends can see what it looked like even though it doesn't do the freaky-change-o things that the hacks did. Hope this helps.

Hmmmm Memphish, "episode pods", I think that I like that euphemism! :o) You know, I was just watching the season 1 DVD last month, and on one of the features in the extras-disk, someone (within TPTB) was talking about how difficult it is to get the episodes made on time for a regular season, and how they really need more time in between shows (or every few shows) to get the thing made -- decently, and with quality. Something like that. I only watched it once, and I'm paraphrasing big-time. It made me lighten up on the whole Break idea, and I felt sorry TPTB for getting such flak about it. Even though it's becomming more and more a standard thing for networks to do, the Lost series in particular seems to need more time for filming to make the locations, effects, props, etc. work well for the show. Although I don't think that's the reason why the polar bear CGI looks funky, right FYSB? :o)

have a good day all!

maven said...

Memphish: My hubby is very fussy about watching "regular" tv (mostly he watches the History Channel), but, like you, we heard so much buzz re "24" we decided to watch it together. I guess I'm more used to continuity errors and unbelievable story lines, but he was complaining and kept saying "That would never happen!" But after the last 5 minutes of the 4 hour premiere he said, "I'm hooked!" (BTW: My son and daughter-in-law live in Valencia!)

Joseph Finchum said...

ThanX Capcom,
It was the first one that I was looking for but the second will do just as good. Thanks again for that. I tried Lostepedia and couldn't find it there, but then again I didn't look all that hard. I figured it would be easier to just ask in here, and of course... it was... lol

memphish said...

Maven,
Sorry about your son and daughter-in-law. I guess they're toast now in Jack Bauer's world. My husband and I mostly enjoyed the show. There is defintely a suspension of belief, but in a way that's the fun of it too. Just like LOST, there are these certain conceits that repeat themselves over and over like no bathroom breaks and no eating and when Jack needs a cell phone he gets a cell phone.

My biggest gripe with the show was how predictable it was. Of course he shot Curtis, of course it was a suitcase nuke and of course it went off. How else was "Everything going to change"? Where do you make submissions to the group of people who ban certain words and phrases every year. I'd like to ban any TV promotion department from ever using that phrase again, especially ABC's.

Capcom said...

Hey, glad to be of assistance Ded! :o) I wish that other site was still working.

Black Swan said...

Hello everyone! Been too busy to do much other than lurk lately. I saw that ded was looking for the original hanso site and here's a link I found on the Rachel Blake Refugies site: http://quatreisevil.free.fr/LOST/HANSO/BACKUP/
Ah, the memories!

I'm still waiting for the 24 episode titled "Jack takes on the 405" (An LA freeway that is a parking lot 24/7)

memphish said...

isibell,
I'm sure if Jack Bauer wants the 405 it will clear just like it did for OJ (and being an LA guy he will call it The San Diego Freeway so no one except Los Angeleons and former ones like me will know what he's talking about.)

Black Swan said...

I was fooling around on the old Hanso site, went to the mental health "light sequence again" thing and tried playing that Tommy computer with the lights. Does anybody remember if it had sound? I'm just getting the colored lights and symbols and I'm just as bad at it as I was last summer:)

lol, isibell, I've been on the 405; makes you wish you had a personal helicopter.

Capcom said...

Hey thanks Codysmom! So glad that there is still a site remaining that has it intact. Did you see that Ded??? I haven't checked out the Rachel's-fugees site in a long time.

G'night all.

Capcom said...

P.S. Codysmom, I can't get all the way through the Tommy sequence without my mouse finger tripping up about 3/4 of the way through! As for sound, for me it just keeps making static every so often while I'm playing.

Twinkle said...

Must say, everyone, that 24 sounds more and more interesting. I thought it was an action/drama show but now I see that it's more science fiction/fantasy. Good to know. ;-)

Capcom: Have you tried playing the static backwards and modulating the pitch? LOL!

memphish said...

Twinkle, you make me laugh. Yes I would put 24 in the fantasy realm.

But the real reason I'm here this evening is to tell everyone I just watched the last half of Casablanca on TCM. Now THAT is a love triangle! And being the geek that I am I noticed at the airport Victor Laszlo wears a white hat, Rick wears a black hat, and Ilsa wears a grey one. How's that for imagery?

Now to tie it back to LOST, I think Casablanca must have been one of the movies Jack was forced to wash in the fish tank. Rick with the gun on Louis is just like cutting a kidney sac.

Night all.

Black Swan said...

capcom, that static noise (I think) comes when you've gotten 4,8,15,16, etc correct. I remember the words came one at a time for the dharma anacronym when you'd hit one of the core value numbers. I just can't remember if there was a musical note for each of the color buttons (like the game, Simon) back when the site was totally workable.

It was fun looking thru the old site again. I had forgotten so much of it. Capcom, I put your site (http://lxicon.com/hanso2/) in a tab next to the one I listed to revisit the old clues.

twinkle, yes, 24 is a real trip. You just have to enjoy it and not get into over-analyzing too much. "Capcom: Have you tried playing the static backwards and modulating the pitch?" ROFL!

memphish, let me know if Casablanca comes on again. Would you believe I've never seen it?

Twinkle said...

Ha! I got on just to check in. We've had bath weather and colds so we've been indoors more. One of the benefits is getting to check in here more often. So my two year old sees me on the computer and she points to the most colorful thing she sees: Dark Red Angel's avatar.

"What's that?" says her little pixie voice.
"That's a picture of a man."
*giggle* "Funny. Guy. Dat Funny Guy."

Maybe she's been on TLC more than I thought?

Well, she just told me "You're in trouble," so I better get off!

Another way to tell you're from California is calling it "The 405". They would just say "405" here.

I'm from California, but i still don't get why it's called the "San Diego Freeway". I doesn't go to San Diego, you would have to take the 5.

BTW, it looks like moving Lost to 10:00 pm might have been a good idea - American Idol dominated the ratings last night.

Joseph Finchum said...

ThanX Codysmom... you rock for finding that. I had totally forgotten about the RR site. Another thanX to Capcom for pointing it a second time in case I missed the post from Codysmom.

And with all the 24 talk lately I thought some of you might find this interesting. Maybe I will check it out, but will have to watch from the beginning again to catch up.

McFarlane Toys ups the ante again... lol. 24 figures coming soon.

Fun one Dennis. It says I was Kate. On this test http://quizfarm.com/test.php?q_id=3264 I'm Shannon, though it took a tie breaker to determine that I was Shannon, not Kate.

And Codysmom, you have to see Casablanca. I was just flipping channels last night and ran across it. It's one of those things I'll stop the remote for anytime.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Hee, hee - I'm a Charlie, too!

For all of you out there considering 24 - I HIGHLY recommend it. I've been addicted since Day 1. Get those DVDs and prepare to not leave your house until you're caught up!

Morning all!

Codysmom: See "Casablanca" the first chance you get! Classic.

I was Shannon on the Personality Test! Says I can get others to build my tent and fish for me because I don't want to ruin my manicure! hahaha...so true!

Black Swan said...

Wow, sounds like I better rent Casablanca!! Thanks for all the recommendations!

Dedjezter, glad I had the info for you. I had fun looking thru it, too.

On Dennis' test I'm Kate, on Memphish's test I'm Claire (with a tie breaker with Michael) hmmmmmmm

Capcom said...

Hey you all everybuddy!

Oh, I see what you mean about sounds now, Codysmom. Nope, it didn't make any other sounds for me here, and I don't remember if it did before. What happens when you get to 42 successfully, anything? I forget, and do not have the patience to keep starting over after I mess up. Maybe I'll go look it up in the TLEC archives.

No Twinkle, I didn't decode the static (too funny!!!), I always let TLEC do all my decoding for me in the game!! :o)

Have a good day all!

capcom - I think some poor girl made it up to 42 on that game this summer, and nothing happened. So don't kill yourself trying it!

Black Swan said...

Hi, capcom & melissa_lossa,

I remember if you got 4 in a row correct, it gave you what the D stands for in Dharma (Department), 8 in a row correct, the H in Dharma (stands for heuristics), etc, etc ... and when you got to 42 in a row correct (I certainly never got that far), you got the whole thing for what Dharma stands for: Department of Heuristics and Research on Material Applications.

I wonder if the one who got to 42 ever got an Apollo bar?:)

If anyone is interested in the latest Doc Jensen article, here's the link. He got to see "Lost In Portland"! Some slight spoilers/teasers in the article, but worth looking at!

Capcom said...

Thanks for the Doc article Maven!

Hey all, DarkUFO has posted that there will be a sort of catch-up hour of Lost before the real episode on Feb,7. Did we know this? Goody, two straight hours of Lost, it's about time! Oops, I don't want to complain!

memphish said...

Capcom,

Can't say I agree about the clip show. While I thought the last one was the best they'd done, I feel so misled about the Jate/Skate thing that I can't put myself through it again. (Yes, I am a shipper, though I'm trying to reform.)

Here's some important info. from the Jeff Jensen article for this board. " . . . The Lost Experience, which I'm told WON'T be making a return appearance during the next summer/fall hiatus." Don't know what that means with regards to Manny's activity.

Capcom said...

I was just about to ask that Memphish......no TLE-2????? Oh, the horrors! But hey, I would take a nice comic or graphic novel as Doc suggests, in it's place. As long as it is a LOT more forthcoming and involved than the Bad Twin book. I actually found it really weird/silly that the Hanso Foundation made such a big deal about the book in TLE, the book didn't even say anything! :-D

Oh yeah, I forgot about having to see K and S mate again like monkeys in the cage during a recap episode. :-P I also liked the first recap that they aired at the beginning of season two (was it then?).

Overall, that Doc article was good, he knows what we want and how to give it to us without ruining it completely. BUT, for those never-ever-spoiler-people, don't read it.

Scoutpost said...

Well I knew not to get my hopes up about TLE-2, but really wish Doc was wrong. That would've been so much fun. Thanks for the article BTW Maven. Nice to hear Doc Jenson is so enthusiastic about it. The waiting is really getting hard now. There's what- 21 or 20 days until Feb. 7th?!! There is one piece of info/spoilerish that is driving me crazy...I won't mention it here, but I will say I've been looking on wikipedia to try to find out what they're talking about and can't figure it out. Hope that's not saying too much.

Capcom said...

Whatchoo-talkin-bout Scoutpost? Can you give those of us who do **little spoilers** a link to what you are looking into? :o)

Dennis said...

I emailed Manny about TLE2 and the Doc Jensen article. We'll see what he has to say...

BTW, there was a Lost reference on The Office tonight...

Andy: "TGI Wednesday. Right? Gonna home, get my beer on, get my Lost on."

memphish said...

Scoutpost,

My guess is you haven't done the math right to find what you're looking for. I agree that given what Doc Jensen has ruled out, it doesn't seem to be in that timeframe.

ib4uc said...

Hey Maven. Thanks for the Doc link. Just enough info to drive me crazy. Feb 7 couldn't get here fast enough for me.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Thanks, dennis - I knew there was someone who had played for a ridiculously long time - sadly, with no results!

scoutpost - are you talking about #4 on the doc jenson list?

maven said...

Sadly, it does seem like there will be no TLE-2 next summer! Doc has usually been right. I've been checking in on ITE and Speaker/Andy hasn't posted in over a month (not unlike Admin/David over here)! The regulars over there think the site is going to be shut down soon. Well, we have reached over 300 posts (although it took almost a month to do so)...reminds me of the good ole TLE days!

I'm sure things will pick up here as we get closer and closer to that magic date of Feb. 7th! I still check in here daily, and, as usual, you guys are always talking about something thought-provoking. Looking forward to keeping it going!

Joseph Finchum said...

This is in response to the "Doc" article, but also fdates back to the 6 part beggining and if need be I will remove it. I certainly do not want to anger anyone here. Plus if any of this has been said already let me know.

Not sure what Scoutpost was reffering to, but I like the idea of #3 in Doc's list.

Here goes nuttin.

Jacob, together with Easu, was born to Isaac and Rebekah after 20 years of marriage.

Esau was a ruddy hunter, while Jacob was a gentle man who "dwelled in tents,"
Sounds a bit Lostish don’t you think.

During Rebekah's pregnancy, "the children struggled together within her" (Genisis 25:22). According t Rashi, whenever Rebeccah passed a house of study, Jacob would struggle to get out; whenever she passed a temple of idolatry, Esau would struggle to get out.
Man of Science, Man of Faith… hmmmm???

Rebekah was to give birth to two children, who would become the respective founders of two very different nations. They would always be in competition, and eventually, the elder would serve the younger.
Different factions of Others maybe. Perhaps Jacob is Eye patch man and the older brother of Ben.????

Esau was the firstborn. His brother Jacob was born immediately afterwards, and was grasping Esau's heel. Jacob was trying to hold Esau back from being the firstborn, and in that way claim the Abrahamic legacy for his own self.
Maybe Jacob was the intended leader of the others, but Ben stepped up to take leadership, which is what broke them into divided parts of a whole.

Jacob awoke in the morning and continued on his way to Haran. He stopped by the well where the shepherds were gathering their flocks to water them and met Laban's younger daughter, his cousin Rachel. He loved her immediately, and after spending a month with his relatives, asked for her hand in marriage in return for working seven years for Laban.
Could TPTB be tossing us a little hint to the old days of TLE
OR
Maybe they are hinting that there is a relative (family) relation between Rachel and Jacob/Ben.

As Jacob and his entourage neared the border of Canaan, Rachel went into labor and died as she gave birth to her second—and Jacob's twelfth—son, Benjamin.
Or could Ben actually be the son of the aforementioned Jacob. Might we have a chance to meet the father of the Others… hmmmm again???

Just some thoughts.

Capcom said...

Hi All,

Interesting Ded! Sure fits into the whole good/bad twin thread. Now what are your thoughts about #4 and its possible significance (if able to do so here in a generic way without obvious spoilers)?

BTW, I read on Lostexposed.com that the mobisodes were supposed to be Hurley's island home-videos. Did we know that? Too bad that idea pooped out, Hurley's take on things would have been fun. I really hope that TPTB come up with something to do or see for the summer (if not TLE-2), if ABC will let them. I really think that multimedia TV shows are going to catch on fire in the future, it is so much fun and better than the one-dimensional show aspect. It would be a shame that ABC started the jump to the future of the TV/internet marriage, and then didn't take advantage of what they helped create. Mostly because I want them to do something extra for our favorite show!!! :o)

That was a very well put wrap-up on TLE-1 from Stationzero JGZ.

Hey guys- sorry to drop that comment out there and not come back. Although- I think Memphish knows exactly what I'm talking about. It's the spoiler regarding timeframe, I too think Doc may be about a month off on that one if what popped into my mind is what he's eluding to. Otherwise I have no idea what it could be. Does this help any of you fellow spoilerish people w/o being too spoilerish?
Ded- like your ideas re: Jacob vs. Esau (Ben) etc.
Maybe they'll do the mobisodes for the summer. I agree though, I really like the fact that LOST is a multimedia experience and not just a one dimensional TV show.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Scoutpost, melissa_lossa, etc, Should we open a thread on the spoiler board to talk about Doc Jensen's article?

Just a quick question.
Do you think Doc is directing us to a date in 2004 or to a date further back in which this catastrophic event took place.

As for Jacob, I too think the eye patch guy is Jacob. I also wonder what implications it might have that TPTB introduced him so that what stood out to us was his eye patch? Are they making a comment about his ability to see? What has the speculation been?

hey. how's everyone? been a long time.

i just read something terrible on showbozdata.com. i copied and pasted the article.

ABC TO LOSE LOST
Monday, January 15 2007
ABC's Lost will become just that after another season or two -- lost from the TV schedule, ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson told the winter TV writers press tour Sunday in Pasadena. He said that ABC executives are currently in discussions with Lost's producers about ways to end the series. Damon Lindelof, one of the executive producers of the series, said that the show's creators had always planned to devise no more than 100 episodes. Thus far, 53 episodes have aired. Lindelof noted that other popular dramas were abandoned by audiences after producers began making questionable creative decisions to invigorate them. He specifically mentioned The X-Files and Alias in that context. McPherson also said that the network will not break up the series as it did in 2006 when it aired six episodes and then put it on hiatus for three months. (It returns for 16 more episodes next month.) Next time around -- which could begin in the fall or the spring of 2008 -- Lost will run for 22 consecutive weeks. And in yet another announcement, McPherson said that it will delay the season launch of Dancing With the Stars until March 19, when it will air on Monday nights in order to avoid head-to-head competition with Fox's similar talent contest, American Idol.

Twinkle said...

Lost? Feb 7th?

David only wants to create a new thread if there is a new episode or podcast... but I'll ask him.

I found a new article in today's newspaper - In Step with Naveen Andrews. It won't be available on the Parade website until Tues, so I scanned it in for the LoCo to enjoy. :)

Hi, all (nice to see you, too, Sean)!

From what I can deduce, there seems to be only about 2 more years (seasons) of Lost. Isn't the magic number for syndication 100 episodes of a series? I hope that they can actually get to that amount. At least TPTB see the handwriting on the wall, and want to give us loyal fans a satisfying path to the end...hopefully, answering most of our questions (don't think they'll ever answer everything). It'll definitely be better than going cold turkey without a lot of closure if the plug was suddenly pulled.

Wow! Only 16 days tomorrow! (Heroes is back tomorrow.)

I would think for Lost, the magic number would be 108 :)

maven said...

Dennis: In a perfect world that would be the magic number! LOL But I think I read somewhere that the big syndication money starts when there are 100 episodes in the can.

maven said...

Dennis: Here's something about when series become viable for syndication.

Capcom said...

Hi All,

I would be happy if we got at least 108 eps from TPTB. :o) But my wish for "The End", would be that TPTB decide to stop whenever they feel that they have written just about everything fresh that they could write about the Island scenarios, OR, that they told all the weird tales that they intended to tell. If they still feel that they have good ideas, I say keep going! But when they feel their ideas are getting stale, I'd trust their judgement for when it's time to stop. I don't believe that a piece of art/TVshow should arbitrarily just stop at a certain point for the sake of stopping, and I hope that Lost won't. But lawdy, if the show went on too long, we'd be getting flashbacks of the Lostaway's as babies by then!!! The flashbacks are already too Freudian for me now! :o)

Have a good week everyone!

I entered my name and mobile # again and it took me to a black screen with the message:

Did anyone else see this? What am I getting myself into?! Can't stop....

I've seen so many long commercials now for the upcoming return of the show, that I probably have seen 75% of the first episode. Oh well, I'll still enjoy it and an hour just won't be enough... I mean 40 minutes just won't be enough.

you know.....it's a sad day when you're ridiculed (rather than intelligently debated) for simply "theorizing" ideas about the show.

happened over on the Rachel Blake Refugees blog. I mean honestly....if you're gonna argue something.....at least bring your own "ammo".

Maybe it's just that time of the month (if you know me, you realize that's kinda' "funny") or maybe I just don't see where the producers have "given" us ANYTHING SOLID as far as answers or direction in regards to the show.

Anyway.........producers, writers and directors have all been known to lie, as well. Plus, if there really isn't an "ending" now per se, they could honestly be oblivious to their own writing direction right now!

Eh........sorry to rant......just looking for someone to listen and not come back with "your theories are bull, 'cuz the producers said so".
