Everyone on the East Coast may want to set their recording devices to run long Wednesday night. The President is holding a press conference. It's supposed to end before LOST, but I'm warning Obama that any interference with my LOST viewing will be held against him. He's on notice unless he plans to reveal what lies in the shadow of the statue.

Ellen said...

Memphish...LOL! :D

Capcom said...

Oh...no! There are always those after-the-speech analysis debates!!!

memphish said...

I asked a TV critic about it via Twitter earlier today and he said it shouldn't affect LOST, but that ABC is already planning to air Scrubs and Better Off Ted that should have aired this Wednesday next Tuesday. I'm pretty sure ABC won't be dumb enough to give us talking heads instead of LOST. Fox isn't even going to air the President. They're going to air Lie To Me.

So the West Coast is pretty safe Wednesday night!

no way widmore is working with richard. Richard seemed to really resent widmore when widmore was the leader. Letting the 06 leave the island only plays into Ben's hand and keeps the timeline where Ben gets shot by sayid and becomes an other forever, so I doubt Richard would have let the 06 leave if he was working with widmore. Widmore was obviously trying to tweak the timeline, having the freighter team try to extract Ben from the time loop as we know it. If ben gets extracted from the island by the frieghtys then he never has sayid doing his bidding and so forth... no evil genius "other" ben. I used to think Richard was working with widmore last season, but the scene where richard helps kate and sayid save Ben from keamy seemed to put that to rest for me.

speaking of captain tripps, the greatfl dead is a reference from the egyptian book of the dead which jives with dhara being hippies with a major egyptian influence.

One thing no one really mentions anymore is that we have never seen the use of the orchid as a controlled time travel device or who used it like that, before ben fried it with metal. We know from the guy that died from his own filling that it was probably tied to the electromagnatism in the swan. I have been saying for a while that the swan and orchid work together in tandem. It would make no sense that they made the vault in the orchid, but never sent anyone back or foward through time, unless the incident made that impossible. I wold love to see the rest of the orchid video after the point where locke pressed rewind.

Congrats to David on the twins !

If there is a vote for which name definitely not to use it's P**** and N****

I don't know why I was thinking about this, but, one of the things that hasn't been adding up for me is why Widmore hasn't been able to return to the Island or even to find the Island reliably. Then I remembered this dialogue from Jughead.

LOCKE: I expect you to tell me how to get off the Island.
RICHARD: That's very privileged information. Why would I share it with you?

I wonder if Widmore was never given that level of clearance for information. Widmore's time on the Island sort of reminds me of the Regency period of English History. That's when George III went "mad" and the Prince of Wales was allowed to rule just until George III got better. It's also kind of like the VP being in charge if the President is incapacitated, but might regain capacity like if he's under anesthesia. Maybe Widmore was allowed to "lead," but was never given the nuclear codes.

Capcom said...

Good questions Memphish.

Well, I guess Widmore would have had to know how to get off and back on the island previously, since Ben razzed him about leaving and having a kid with an outsider, etc. BTW, did Wid start leaving the island after the Purge, using the sub? Or did he use the magic FDW portals? Do we know that yet?

As for finding the island, TPTB haven't given us too much info on that yet, except for hints that you have to use the Lamp Post station to find it (as per Mrs.H's calculations and her story that the DI used it to first find the island). We don't know why Wid can't go there, even though he knew how to tell Des where to find Mrs.H. Also, maybe it can't be found easily now without the LG signal being operational? I'd guess that once that was gone, you'd have to go back to using math and pendulums to find out where it was going to pop up next.

Maybe Wid can't return to the island (even if he did know how to calculate its whereabouts) because he knows that he'll have to get judged by Smokey like Ben did, and he sure doesn't seem very repentant yet about things he did, so he'd get Smokey-whomped like Eko.

But that begs the question of why would Widmore want to "own" the island if he can't set foot on it? Perhaps because owning it in some way would allow him to use it for fun and profit, or some such purposes, even if he can't live there himself. ???

There's still too many holes in the picture to be sure of all those things I suppose.

Zort70 said...

My thoughts on Widmore are that it isn't literally that he can't return, but if he does return then Smokey will rip him to pieces as soon as he sets foot on the island.

He has to disable the smoke monster first before he returns.

Snap Capcom :-)

By the way OT, the world of Doctor Who and X-Files will be meeting soon as Gillian Anderson is apparently going to be making an appearance in an episode later this year.

maven said...

Big Double congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. David! (He even posted sonogram pics of the twins on Facebook!) I love the Desmond/Penny name choice.

I also like your theory, David, that in building the Swan they unearth Jughead and that could be the Incident.

Capcom said...

Oops, congrats David! I forgot to say that before.

LOL Zort. And that's awesome about Anderson being on Dr.Who! Thanks for the heads-up! Has the new season (and Dr.) begun in the UK already? We won't get it here for a while I suppose.

Capcom said...

Ruh-oh, there was just a pretty revealing preview on ABC during the soaps. If anyone doesn't want to be spoiled AT ALL, mute the sound during the commercials if you are watching ABC today/tonight.

maven said...

Thanks, Capcom. I watch "All My Children" (I just can't stop after all these years!). I'm assuming this is a new preview?

Sayid'sgirl said...

So I'm not the only one who watches ABC soaps. :)

I seen the preview capcom, but I'm not sure what you're talking about.
Maybe I missed something. If you like you can message me at myspace about it. I don't mind promos.

maven
I've watched AMC since I was 12. I slowly started watching the other ones. GH is actually my favorite.

Capcom said...

Yep, I watch the soaps while I do stuff around the house, heheh. :o)

I think it's a new preview, it's not the one that they showed after the last ep. The spoiler is something that Dan says, and seems it would pertain to the content and the (very spoilery) title of the final episode, as far as I read in the spoiler info.

As for soaps, I still miss Ryan's Hope! I loved those NY Irish folks. :-D

Sayid'sgirl said...

capcom
Ohh ok I know what you're talking about now.
That just got me excited about the episode.

I liked Ryan's Hope to. The actress who played Delilah (sp)plays on OLTL now.

Capcom said...

Right Sayidsgirl, it sounded good to me too, but those who are spoiler purists might not want to hear it. :o)

Yeah, she's a hoot on OLTL!

Sayid'sgirl said...

You're right capcom. It is pretty revealing.

I'm pretty much a purest, except for promos.

Sayid'sgirl said...

The Lost Fanasty League is up.
I dropped like a rock.

maven said...

I saw that preview during AMC. It's the same one that's been on ABC all week. I guess that last bit could be interpreted many different ways! lol

maven said...

I moved up a spot...7th in our mini-league!

Capcom said...

It was the first part of the promo that perked up my ears! :-D

blueheron13 said...

Looks like the Blue Herons might be just about ready to topple out of first place in mini league!

Takes a Village said...

Congratulations to David, and Steve too,I believe.
David;
Desmond, and Penelope, have a good sound to the names.Much better than Rose, and Bernard.
In the LFL,I've moved up to 4th;

DarkUFO is posting about a special preorder thru Amazon for a Dharma Initiation Kit. This not the S5 DVDs...it is something separate. You can get it in DVD or Blu-Ray. Does anyone know anything about this?

if richard is privy to how to get off the island that shows he's not working with widmore, because richard would help him get back

The only soap I ever watched had some guy named Neugene who jumped in a time machine and left poor Calliope. . .I have no idea which soap that was but it was back in the mid 80's and they also had a storyline where some blonde woman in a bikini kidnapped a guy named Csss and took him to an island while a woman named Kathleen looked for him.

Another World maybe? I don't think it comes on anymore.

Zort70 said...

Capcom - The Doctor Who episodes this year are limited to 4 specials. which are dotted around the year, leading up to the regeneration. The first of these was on Easter Monday, and featured Michelle Ryan (Bionic Woman) as one of the Guest Stars.

I am very excited about the episode this week if it has Daniel in it, at least for my Fantasy League position if nothing else !

I was looking for an episode title for this year a couple of weeks ago and found a guide which unfortunately had the title of the last episode :-(.

However my mind has managed to file it under bin and I can't remember it now :-)

Sorry you found out the title of the finale.
I found it out a few weeks back listening to the OLP. I think it was the one where the were running the contest to name the big scene in the finale.

Anyway it kind of stinks, but it's not unexpected.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Hey memphish
I have a question for you. I was on your blog checking to see if you'd updated your timeline and I was wondering. Do you think the Purge and the incident are the same thing or two different things?

Because I tend to believe Horace that the Purge was in 1992 or there abouts.

The incident is still up for grabs. But it would have to be before 1980 when Candle made the Swan video.

memphish said...

Sayid's Girl -- I think the Incident is very different from the Purge. I think the Incident is going to occur in 1977. I think that's the reason the LBs and the flashing O6ers are in '77. I think they will be the source of the Incident and that the Incident will move them from '77 to a different year, most likely 2007, but maybe even into the future or maybe September 22, 2004. I think after the Incident which will only be known to those in the Dharma Circle of Trust, Dharma will create the Swan button pushing protocol, Ben will return to the DI with some cover story and things will progress until the Purge. I still hold out that the Purge is before Danielle's crash in 1988, but I'm willing to accept the 1992 date, though if that's the date I want to see how Ben and Ethan sneak out to the Others.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Thanks memphish
I understand now why you would like it to be in the 80's now.

I still believe it's in the 90s but I also would like to see how it goes down.

I also believe that only Dharmaville was victim of the poison gas not the entire island, but I could be wrong in that.

memphish said...

Well we know that they didn't gas the whole Island because otherwise Ben wouldn't have gassed Roger in the van. The thing I don't get about Alex's kidnapping being 4 years before the Purge is the portrayal of Ben as her dad vs. a whole group of people raising her until they moved to the Barracks. Even at 3/4 a kid should remember that. And while they can write it off, literally, by saying Alex just never mentioned that part of her life story, it's not terribly satisfying, now is it?

Melissa_Lossa said...

I agree, memphish. And we never saw any indication that Alex suspected that Ben wasn't really her dad. I'd think a few years raised by a group of Others in the jungle might cast a few doubts on his story.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I'm not sure the entire group helped raise Alex as an infant/child. Widmore would rather she be dead. So the rest of the group probably didn't go against that. Ben was probably left alone to do that.

As far as the Purge I'm assuming only a group of the Adult Others were involved in that. I'm not sure she would remember details about it, other than when she was older through second hand stories.

She knows Ben is a "bad" man since she asked if Keamy and his crew were worst than he was.

I can understand wanting to know a little about her childhood though.

memphish said...

Here's the thing though Sayid's Girl. How can Ben raise a daughter that he stole from Danielle while also maintaining his Work Man cover at home with Roger in the DI. That's what doesn't add up for me. Either the Others raised Alex until the Purge (oooh, raised by an other/s) or the Purge happened before Alex was taken. I don't see a middle path for Ben to have raised Alex pre-Purge.

Sayid'sgirl said...

Ok I see what you're getting at.
I just don't see the others raising her when Widmore wanted her dead.

I guess and I admit it would be a big guess, that Ben could have brought her back to the DI and made up a story about her. Like he found her beside her dead mother or something. I don't know.

Even at 3 or 4 I don't think her memories would be that strong to remember about her jungle upbringing if that should be the case. At least not when she was a teenager.

Since living with the others if she did, wouldn't have been tramatic but normal to her it may not be a strong memory. But I get wondering why she would except Ben as her father. If they weren't together from the start.

It will be interesting to see if they give us any insight into this.

maven said...

Well, remember, Alex seemed to be "Queen of the Jungle" and seemed very comfortable there. She knew how to hide and how to sling that slingshot. And she knew how to skin those rabbits. So must have spent some time with the Others away from the comforts of New Otherton.

Melissa_Lossa said...

NEW POST!!

Takes a Village said...

Maybe Alex was taken to the Temple
at some point and her memories erased. Maybe we'll find out tonight.
I'm hoping for Chock full o' Lost nuts. Happy 100th.
