Lost: The Final Chapter - Recap Special

Premiere night is here! We're starting off with a look back at where we've been:

This series recap focuses on the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, the mysteries of the island and its inhabitants, the survivors who returned to the U.S. (the Oceanic 6), the island's violent time shifts and the H-bomb detonation in May 2009's Season 5 finale. The hour reviews questions that have been answered and explores those that haven't.

West Coasters - the East Coast will be moving over to a new post once the premiere episode starts, so feel free to hang out here and speculate spoiler-free for a couple more hours.

Spoiler Policy Reminder

Some commenters have asked me to reiterate our spoiler policy, so here it goes:

PLEASE DO NOT POST ANY SPOILERS IN THE COMMENTS. REALLY.

The Lost Community strives to be a spoiler-free site, and we will enforce that policy in the comments.

As a general rule, once an episode has aired on the East coast, it is fair game. Same goes for the promo that airs at the end of the episode. Any other promos, sneak peeks, etc. ARE considered spoilers, as are any outside content (magazines, web site, etc.) that discuss upcoming episodes, casting news and behind the scenes info. If you see a spoiler on another site, you are welcome to post a link to that site, with a note that it contains a spoiler - that way, if anyone wants to check it out, they can.

For more detailed rules, please read this post.

If you see a spoiler, a spammer, or anything else inappropriate in the comments, please send an e-mail to thelostcommunity@gmail.com and I will remove it as soon as possible.

That being said, I want to welcome all of our newcomers from LostARGs and welcome back all of our veterans. This really is the friendliest place to be a Lost fan!

And here's a handy guide from Robin Parrish from ApproachingLOST.com (via Zort at LostARGs) - it's a list of unanswered questions leading into season 6, complete with check boxes so you can check them off one by one! Beware, the ApproachingLOST site contains spoilers; the guide is spoiler-free.

Lost: The Complete Fifth Season Dharma Initiation Kit Giveaway!

Okay, here's how the giveaway will work:

If you would like to enter to win, post a comment on this post with your answer to the following question: What random mystery on Lost has been nagging at you for years? Sure, we all want to know what the Smoke Monster is and what's up with Jacob and what happened when the bomb exploded, but what's that one little thing that's been driving you crazy that you want an answer to?

You can post as many times as you want, but you will only be entered in the drawing ONCE.

On Sunday night at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, I will write down all of the entered names and draw one winner. If you are the winner, you will be notified by e-mail and also here on the blog. I'll need your (real) name and your address - if I do not receive it by Monday at 5 p.m. ET, I will draw another winner!

The winner will receive the Lost Season 5 Dharma Initiation Kit in the mail. Remember, this DVD set is Region 1, meaning the winner should be in the US or Canada (sorry, overseas TLCers!).

Good luck!

Here is the original e-mail that we received:

Hi!

My name is Fionna, and I'm working for an advertising agency in conjunction with Buena Vista Home Entertainment to reach out to selected LOST fan sites. I liked your site in particular because of the friendly community and great discussion you have in your comments section, and so I wanted to offer you access to several sneak peeks from the upcoming LOST Season 5 DVD that you can share with your readers.

These sneak peeks -- including deleted scenes, cast and crew interviews and a glimpse inside LOST University -- will be released over the next couple of weeks, leading up to LOST's season 5 DVD release on Tuesday, December 8, so you'll get a chance to see them all ahead of time.

I'd also like to offer you the chance to give away a LOST Season 5 limited edition Dharma Initiation Kit DVD to one of your readers, as a thank you for all the great work you've been doing.

There's no catch and no cost. It's just our way of saying thanks for supporting LOST over the years.

Please let me know if you're interested and thanks again for all your dedication and effort! Namaste!

Fionna

Other sites have no doubt received the same offer - our sister-site, LostArgs, has confirmed that they also received an e-mail from Fionna, although the e-mail sent there mentions Lost University. That seems to mean that each site received a personalized message, not just a form letter.

Stay tuned - we'll post new content as we get it!

Season 6 Poster

Okay, even though most everyone is hanging out over at LostArgs, I figured it was about time for a new post.

Here is a full shot of the Season 6 poster for Lost. According to ABC, this was only intended for Comic Con, and an "official" poster will be released sometime this fall.

For those of you who consider this a spoiler, I will post some clearer, up-close versions of the poster over at SpoilerFixed, along with a new article from TV Guide.

Also, update on the Book Club - our podcast guru, Mr. David A. Dein, has had his hands full the last few months with the impending births of his twins, hence no podcasts. If you are interested in having some book club discussions via this site only, leave a note in the comments or shoot me an e-mail at thelostcommunity@gmail.com.

See you for theories, comments on re-watches, rants, birthday wishes, etc. in the comments!

Comic Con 2009!

This is it, everyone - the final Comic Con to feature Lost!

Our very own maven and scoutpost will be in attendance this year, so get your questions posted now... they're hatching a plan that involves Team Darlton, a stalled elevator and some of Sayid's bamboo shoots, I believe.

You can follow their adventures here, and on maven's blog.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT COMIC CON WILL BE DISCUSSED IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF THIS POST - IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW ANY SPOILERS THAT MAY HAVE BEEN GIVEN AWAY AT COMIC CON, PROCEED NO FURTHER.

Also, for the book clubbers out there - podcasts are a bit stalled at the moment, but the new list for the 2009 - 2010 hiatus is now posted. Bust out those library cards!

Claire is here to represent all unanswered questions. Where IS she?
