Another little fib from TPTB. They said the numbers didn't mean anything in the show and would play out. They love to protect their show. :) Good for them.

Still not a huge fan of the X-verse. I liked that we got to see Locke with Helen. But really didn't like the cross with Rose since she's from the Bronx. That butterfly flapped hard.
As for Ben Linus, European History. First - what middle school/high school has a dedicated European History teacher especially in California, but does this definitively demonstrate that the Island didn't sink at the time of the Incident since Ben was definitely on the Island then?

Here's the other thing about those numbers on the wall. First off all but possibly Kwon are men. I'll bet it's Jin not Sun despite the touching. We've also seen that Miles and Frank may be candidates per Bram and Ilana, but they weren't on the wall either. I'm sure the wall will be endlessly nitpicked. I'd love to see Ben's name marked through. Do they get marked through when they die or when they fail to prove to be a candidate?

Well if the island needed to be protected from the MIB, it stands to reason that the MIB would tell Sawyer that it's all a bunch of hooey.
I noticed that it was the white rock that he threw into the water.
I think they get marked off when they die. I also noticed there weren't any women except maybe Sun. Maybe their meant to rule together.
And of course there are more questions, too.
- It sounds like Locke has a relationship with his father.
- Why is it that Helen didn't die in this universe?
- Who was that boy? And who can't FLocke kill? Jacob's already dead. Or is he?
- Why is FLocke stuck that way?
We don't know that Helen necessarily died in the main timeline, just that Abbadon said she did.
My money is on that child being a giant version of Aaron.
How's Jacob going to get an heir when he's dead? Why aren't those Temple people candidates?
Maybe the body that was burned was the MIB.

And MIB is now "stuck" as Flocke (at least his human appearing form). Why is he stuck? Does that show us that other Smokey appearances such as Yemi were only apparitions. What about Christian?
I guess the sequence with the Smokey sounds first headed toward New Otherton and Sawyer, then back out to the jungle where Flocke then appears represented Smokey changing between forms, without the actual visual.
I have some questions about the X-verse but once again I have no reason for really caring about it what with Locke in a hole and all.
Wondering if Eko was a candidate at some point, or if MIB was trying to recruit him as well back in S3 when he posed as Yemi.

- Why are the candidates assigned numbers?
- Why were THOSE numbers the ones that were being annuonced from the tower and used all over the place. Are they the only candidates left?
- Is the MIB right about Jacob pushing Sawyer to make the choices he made that caused him to end up on the island? Like being a conman and seeking revenge?
- In the alternate timeline, is it possible that Locke's Dad didn't con Sawyer's parents?

Maybe you aren't seeing what their lives would have been like 'if their plane didn't crash'. Maybe you're seeing what their lives would have been like 'if Jacob didn't touch them'.

Maybe the reset that resulted in the X-verse hasn't happened yet. Maybe the bomb just sent them back to 2007 and the reset is what will happen at the end of the series. What we're seeing in the X-verse is when all of that is over.

Randy says to Locke, I thought you wanted your vacation week on Oct. Claire's sonagram was 10/22/04. So maybe if was a mistake or the FS are at different times.

Possible that Austen isn't a candidate because she didn't do what Jacob asked of her (to stop stealing/stay out of trouble). Everyone else either did what he asked (Hurley, Sawyer, Ilana, Sayid) or took what he offered (Jack and the candy bar, Locke and the gift of life, Jin/Sun and his blessing). Kate was the only one who disobeyed.

Sawyer was only partly right that Flock isn't scared. I see fear in his face when he sees little blond boy.
I wonder if Desmond is a candidate. The island probably doesn't need protecting if it's underwater (or does it?), but the way Des appeared and disappeared on the plane was a bit odd. And Hawkings told him that the island wasn't done with him yet.
I have to wonder as well, why was Jacob looking for a replacement? Was it just because he knew it was a matter of time before MIB found his loophole? Or was he looking for a way out as well and couldn't leave until his replacement was found?
Maybe Eko was judged to be an unsuitable candidate after his repsonses to Yemi/Smokey. But then if MIB is smokey how does that make sense.

Listen, you guys. Jacob is not stupid enough to leave the island to Kate. She probably wouldn't be able to choose between the main island and Hydra island, anyway.
Lostit, those are really interesting things you brought up. I think you're right, the Island doesn't need protecting if it's underwater anymore. I personally think people were never supposed to be on the Island in the first place. Just IMHO.. but Jacob has been bringing people to the Island for so long, now they are 'the others' and their numbers are pretty well built up. So, for whatever Flocke needs Sawyer, I would guess he has to show Sawyer that he's fooling himself that the Island is his 'home', that the Dharma house was 'his', that anything going on with the Island should be looked at as real life. Sawyer has always been the one to look at the Island more as a viable place to live. He had nothing to go back to the 'real world' and actually did find a better life there. idk, getting late and starting to ramble now.. LOL!

I think you're onto something there. I think that what we're seeing is not necessarily what would've happened, but something else. Whether it has to do with Jacob's touch, I don't know, but good thought.
