The Lost Community Podcast - Episode 53

The Lost Community: Join hosts David A. Dein and Steve "The Goog" Guglich as they unpack the episode "The Little Prince." Along they way marvel at how David and Steve are completely dumbfounded by the plot synopsis of "The Little Prince" Novel. It's weird.

First !

What is going to be Locke's way off the island, I personally don't think turning the wheel will be it.

Or if it is the wheel then that may send the island into hyper time jumping which might seriously damage, if not kill everyone on the island.

memphish said...

I have no idea Zort. He needs to talk to Alpert again. I hope it's not the wheel, but a new way that we've been speculating about all along.

memphish said...

I'm listening to Ryan and Jen on The Transmission and Ryan has a very interesting idea about Jin. He thinks that Jin was not inside the Island's radius when the time jumping started, but after the time jumping started he floated through the barrier into 1988 and so when the LBs jump again, Jin won't jump he'll be stuck in 1988 with Rousseau. Now this really doesn't explain why Rousseau wouldn't know Jin in 2004, but it is an interesting idea and would be a new permutation of the time problems that they could show us.

Capcom said...

Then wouldn't Jin be much older when he finally met Sun? No wonder his sperms weren't very strong. j/k

memphish said...

The Jin she's meeting now should look exactly the same as the Jin who crashes, right Capcom? The problem is what happens to the 2005 Jin in 1988? Does he die before the crash? Yes, nosebleed inducing.

Another thing that's brought up on The Transmission is Ben claiming that Widmore changed the rules when Alex was killed. People, especially Big Mouth at Eye M Sick, are starting to speculate that we're going to see something in the past that does change things. But I'm wondering if it wasn't in fact Ben who changed the rules by having Jack, who was not on Jacob's list, remove his tumor. A Linus was supposed to die, and since Ben didn't, Alex did. Yes, I know I need to step away from the internet, and I will shortly, I have lunch plans.

Congrats to Ded & ML again....good work. (I personally rose above Sayid'sgirl...at last! LOL)

I don't buy that Jin is stuck in 1988. I think he's been skipping along with the LBers, and we're going to see them come upon Jin and Rousseau's team soon. They've also been put ashore after the storm, and they don't know where (or when) they are. And having seen the wreckage of the French ship, will come upon them shortly.

SOmething I noticed that may seem to point to the island time is jumping but the LB's are static, in the shape of things to come when Ben turns the FDW and they show Locke and Richard(in the present), both Locke and Richard react to the beginning of the flash. They squint their eyes and act like its a big deal. In the later flashes this season only Locke reacts to the flashes(can even anticipate them) while Richard seems completely unaffected. This seems to show that the source of the flashes(past present or future) on the island are still and continuously coming from the island(orchid, fdw) sometime after Ben turned the wheel in 2004. Might explain why, like i have said before, the people in the past seem more like a holideck program that someone changed the settings and the LB's are always standing exactly like they were before the flash. This is not to say that are not real people in the past or holograms, that's just the best comparison i can think of atm.

Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news! My thoughts are with you and your family.

Looks like Ded and I continue to benefit from the 1-2 punch of Sawyer and Daniel in the League. Ded finally pulled ahead this week, though with a little help from Rousseau!

Capcom, thank you for the beautiful card...

if what i said above is true, anyone on the island that didn't jump in time might have had injections to keep them from flashing or tethered in the present on the island, including richard, but past versions aren't subject to the flashes because the flashes are really only happening in 2004 on the island, so only people who are on the island after the wheel is turned in 2004 and not inoculated are flashing. So julliette is flashing because she was banished from the others and stopped getting injections and everyone else such as aaron, jack and kate mike, and walt, charlie who were inoculated are either off the island or dead in 2004. Someone like cindy the stewrdess isn't flashing because she is still getting her shots since she is still in the other's fold. It would make sense that the inections are on the dharma pallet thats dropped because they would inoculate their workers so they wouldn't start time jumping every time the wheel got turned. I think the matter of jacob's list is misleading, ben told the others that jacob's list was who was to be abducted and join the other for injections and thus not time jump, but the ones not on the list were more Ben's secret plan to mess with the timeline that he didn't let rank and file others like tom in on.

Be careful out there. There is some information about tonight's episode that I didn't want to know in advance that 2, generally non-spoiler sites have now spoiled me on. Stay spoiler-safe LoCos.

Happy LOST Day!

Doc Jensen's article is out, too. He gives his own take on the time-travel questions that fans are asking right now.

I don't remember anything spoilery. I think he saves his teases for the Totally Lost video, but I don't know if that has come out yet.

maven said...

Happy Lost Day everyone! Thanks for the spoiler warnings, Memphish...it's scary (and tempting) out there in cyperland!

PS.
Spoiler (name of tonights episode) at 1:15-1:05 almost at the end.Sorry I didn't catch that sooner.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Doc Jensen is completely spoiler free. It's just the usual rantings of a madman. :)

maven said...

I always enjoy reading Doc Jensen...his last theory (Neil/Boar) is quite off the wall, but entertaining! LOL

Fishbiscuit's Review

Haven't checked for spoilers yet.

blueheron13 said...

Nope, no spoilers. Didn't Fishbiscuit used to be one of the reviews that DarkUFO would post? It doesn't look like he uses them anymore. I like those reviews--there are always lots of pictures.

memphish said...

I think she posts over at Doc Arzt now BlueHeron. I don't do Doc Arzt because of spoilers which I feel he's kind of two-faced on.

Capcom said...

I don't do Arzt anymore since his alleged "fund my trip to Hawaii" scam, and since he blew off some co-writers on a project that didn't go his way. And I don't do Fishbiscuit anymore for various reasons but mostly because it's way too over-the-top theory-wise for me (and too much on the Hate-Jate track). (Rachel)Ackattack is much better, she's got good screencaps and hilarious narrative.

blueheron13 said...

Thanks,

I didn't know there was a problem with this Arzt person. I will check out Ackattack.

One good thing from reading Fishbiscuit, though, was I was finally able to figure out what those things are in Memphish's picture.

memphish said...

LOL. You could have just asked Blue Heron.

I'm getting to the point where I'm feeling overwhelmed by recaps. I think Erika at Long Live Locke is good, but so, so very long that by the time they come out I just can't make myself read them. Instead I hover over her photos for the funny captions. Some weeks I read more than others, but in general I read Doc Jensen and ackattack and Gitsie Girl and Big Mouth at Eye M Sick.

maven said...

Well, at least the recaps don't all come out on the same day, Memphish! I do think my favorite is Erika's (she's on FB, so we get a little head's up from her).

blueheron13 said...

Doc Jensen's and Erika's are the must reads for me.

Capcom said...

LOL, me too Memphish. I love reading everyone's thoughts here and on all your individual blogs. But for this season, I'm a little too burned out to read the very long non-LoCo recaps. :-)

BTW, don't stop reading Arzt and Fish if that's what you like to do Blueheron, that's just my personal slant on the Lost blogosphere.

OT: Did anyone else enjoy Fringe last night? I feel it's finally getting back on track and we're getting those proverbial answers/questions.

memphish said...

Maven, I got very annoyed with Fringe last night because it felt like an episode of Alias with the manuscript and pencil drawing of Olivia. Then the last little bit got me again. But good grief, off the air until April! What is this? Lost Season 2?

TakesaVillage said...

Maven,
I watched and loved it.
I read in TV Guide that Anna Torv(Olivia),and Mark Valley (her TV partner) who met when they were filming the pilot, recently got married.
Now we have a Fringe hiatus though.

Twinkle said...

I love Fringe too! How weird that the actors for Olivia and John Scott got married! Best wishes to them. In the show I love the smouldering possibility of Peter Bishop towards Olivia. Of course Walter makes the show.

So glad to be able to watch Lost this week! Here are my thoughts/questions relating to the podcast.

I thought the purpose of Claire's mom showing up was that now's she's going to get suspicious and factor into the plot line again later. They don't have time for filler episodes so I bet there are some things we're missing the significance of.

What about Kate's husband? Great question! I wish he'd show up!

What has Ben set up to make Sun want to return? He's seems to be working on everyone else. Why doesn't Ji Yeon need to return?

Some people have said Sun is acting out of character. I think she's finally coming into her own as the daughter of her father. It's very poetic that she's using the tools of her father and becoming like him. Hopefully she'll snap out of it eventually.

maven said...

There's another replay of "The Little Prince" with pop-ups tonight. Any chance we'll get something new? I guess there's always a chance!

memphish said...

We'll get something all right Maven, but will it be an Eloise tidbit or a "Sawyer is seeing Kate. He had sex with her in a cage."

memphish said...

Okay timeline fans, I've got a question. If Rousseau arrives in 1988 and as dream Horace said the Purge is in 1992 then why would the DI allow Rousseau to change the broadcast of the Numbers in 1988? She claims to do it just before Alex is born. I think this is definitive proof that the Purge predates the arrival of the French team.

Capcom said...

Hi everyone, all ready and set to go!

I really liked Fringe last night, until they said the next episode was in April! :-p Oh well, at least we got closer to the core of the mystery last night. Although Olivia trying to squeeze out the mental calisthenics was hilarious. X-D But, I'll leave that for my post on it tomorrow.

Glad that you get to participate tonight Twinkle!

Capcom said...

Oh there you go again Memphish, exploding my head with the facts! :o) Anyway, good questions.

2costa said...

so was that last bit of fringe saying walter was the author of the manifesto?

maven said...

2costa: That's what I think! April seems so far away now! (And it's my Birthday month, too!)

Memphish: Another thing to ponder...how did Rousseau do that and get away with it if the DI was still in "power" on the island.

Anything interesting yet in the pop-ups?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Nothing interesting so far...

Black Swan said...

Just checking in.. great comments everyone! (lol, memphish about the popups)

I used to think Kate didn't know who Claire's mom was when Jack met her at his dad's memorial service, because Kate was off to the side and Jack never told her. But now we know that Kate has known about Aaron's Grandma, and is keeping her from knowing that her grandson is alive, just to keep up the Lie. Maybe this is old news and I'm just figuring it out now. lol!
