The Little Prince, in a nutshell:

Thanks Melissa! :-D
And I don't remembet the newspaper date but I think it was 2007 or 2008 maybe?
No, FirstDed. :o)
Yeah, it was a props booboo, wasn't it? At least that's what they said at the time.
Nice one... "Well Played Clerks... well played."
Also in the pop-ups:
The Others are the indigenous inhabitants of the island.
Wow I totally missed that one thanX M_L
8th! (one of the numbers)
Maybe this is what TPTB meant by we would get some answers this season...lol
Here!!!
xxoo
darn, 9th.. lol!
Mel, yes.. those were the two pop-ups I noticed, too.. the others = indiginous people of the island and des & pen's baby is Charlie, named for charlie pace.
Ooh, there's a really informative pop-up: "Sawyer often uses nicknames for people."
Thanks for the heads up!
I wonder if The US military called the bomb Jughead because the bottom and fins resembles Jugheads Crown...
Why didn't Faraday just show her his calculator watch? (you know he has one) Ever seen a watch with out hands, digital numbers, solar power, and a calculator... ever seen a calculator that wasn't on a desk... huh? ... lol
good ones, mel & ded.. lol!
M_L From my head to your fingers.
nicknames...really... you don't say. :)
That's great casting on the old/young Widmores
The Nikki/Paolo paper said Thurs. Sept. 24, 2004 and the plane crashed Wed. Sept. 22nd, 2004. There was also the problem that Sept. 24th, 2004 was not a Thursday in any timeline.
Now I really want to know the legitimacy of these pop-ups. Because saying Others=indigenous we know isn't totally legit because Juliet is an Other and she isn't indigenous. So I think it's still a question as to where Widmore and Ellie came from. I agree they are Others, but not that that nomenclature means they were born there. After all, where did they get that accent? Especially when other Others have American ones.
Final pre-viewing note. I've heard and like the idea that Ellie and Widmore are siblings. It explains why they both have English accents and why Widmore knows where she is and would support her son, assuming Dan is his nephew.
Agreed Blacky, and seems Widmore's been a jerk all his life. :o)
Guesses and observations from re-watching with enhancements:
Ellie is Dan's mom (Ms. Hawkings)
Dan really does love Charlotte (romantically)
Des is not a good liar
Locke is a 'placeholder' for Ben and not the real Other's leader like he was told. (did 2costa say that?)
Penny's voice bothers me
memphish - the pop-up actually said that the Others were indigenous and that the Others recruited Juliet. That being said, you're right - I'd like to know who writes these.
"I have always been with you.....except when I'm with Sawyer." Pshhhh! :-p
Wow, Sun's lost her mind and become a killer? Me no likey.
Capcom - exactly what I was thinking!
"Back to normal", heheh, Miles is cool.
Whoever's after Sayid doesn't want him dead.
Good point, Sayid's Girl.
Does anyone else think this new show Better Off Ted looks Awful with a capital A?
It looks like a crappy rip off of the BBC show Labrats to me, and yes awful.
What's it about, a science tech corp?
A bunch of strange people who work in a university lab where they do experiments and generally mock each other.
Circle of life.
Like they took that show and the office, through in a little dilbert and viola.
Ick, sounds like the IBM lab that I worked in. X-p
Michael on that new show... Charlie on Chuck... what next?
They ate Vincent for dinner... ha ha ha ha
Other, others!!lol
If there's a flash when they're in the boat, will the boat disappear and leave them in the water?
I wonder if thats the boat the o6 used to get back. Aijira?
Could that last day time leap have been the future... is that possible?
Wow, I was wondering if it was her, I saw a pic of her in an upcoming ep shot.
That's what I thought, Ded - the camp looked like it had seen a little wear and tear.
ok...I called it!! It was Carol Littleton...yep!!!
xxoo
Ded
Yeah I think that it was the future and I think it's possible according to Daniel.
Would be neat if it was the future. Were they chasing and firing at themselves??????
I like how Jack acts all understanding and helpful. But he hasn't told Kate what he's there for yet.
So far I am loving this episode. For all the predictability of last week, I love the unpredictability of this one. I also noticed Sayid was out 42 hours. Which it didn't seem like. And they're meeting at Pier 23.
Anyone else see grandma coming?
opps sorry ellen didn't see your post
Mr. Mel called Claire's mom earlier tonight. I have to give credit where it's due!
Does anyone know what Lost Untangled is?
"I can fix it," oh brother. :-p
Never heard of it.
There's a graphic that has popped up a couple of times saying that Lost Untangled is on during Life on Mars next.
Is it possible that Sun set up this whole Aaron thing?
wow...not grandma. Didn't see that coming! My next guess would be either 1) Ben or 2) Widmore...
xxoo
Okay, what?!
She's done it again.
Oh boy, Danielle time???!
Rousseau!! Has to be!
Is that Danielle?
Besixdouze is the name of the Little Prince's planet.
capcom
I think I was right!
JIN WTF?
Jin!! and could that be Rousseau and company?!! wow...
xxoo
OMG!! Is that really Jin?! My picture is really dark for some reason - it's hard to tell.
Yeah!
I am on record I HATE! that last development. Beyond HATE. It is so ludicrous that Jin has time skipped a 1/2 dozen or more times while unconsciously floating on the ocean for at least 3 days. It's not that I don't like Jin, but the freighter didn't time skip as they clearly established in the first episode, so I'm just supposed to believe he's been drifting in the radius all this time. Bulls*&t!
Was Claire's mom at the same motel that Locke's dad was at when Locke met up with him, the day that he lost Helen?
For losties who don't speak french: right before they turned him over, they said "il respire encore!" - "He's still breathing!"
ahhh Jin!!
That was my post before I lost internet connection.
I'm doing a happy dance....
memphish - I feel like we've been disagreeing all day! :) No hard feelings, I hope!
None at all ML. I know I'm in the minority on this one. I just find it more implausible than a smoke monster. :-)
Implausible does not exist in the Lost Dictionary... shame on you
I guess Jin was within the "barrier" when Ben turned the wheel. I know it doesn't mean anything but the deck of the boat was empty in the long shot when it blew up.
Poor guy has been time jumping in the ocean all this time.
It's completely implausible, but I'm just happy that Jin's alive!
It's like 24 this season - they brought my favorite character back from the dead. I was so happy, I didn't really care how he was still alive. And if you think Jin being alive is implausible, you should hear THAT explanation!
Memphish calls shenanigans! X-D
I love Ben this season - everything he says cracks me up. His reaction when Kate accused him of trying to take Aaron was priceless - "Yeah, that was me. Sorry."
I seen a preview on ABC.com last night and I thought that might be Danielle when I seen the raft. I thought maybe the raft was the O6 but seeing the flash of the raft and the girl made me think the girl was Danielle.
Nice Capcom! I do call shennanigans. I'm not sure I can spell them, but I call them.
On the plus side, I do like that they are using his resurrection as a possible way to tell the Danielle story. Does this mean time won't jump for an entire episode?
I'm really getting worried about our LBs. Miles and Juliet are getting the bloodies. I have to say this is the first time I haven't been willing just to let Juliet die. And Miles is my favorite freightie. How is it he can talk to dead people but doesn't know he's been on the Island before? And how does Daniel know he has? And what about Miles statement to Charlotte about her past at the end of S4? He knows her story, but not his own?
Ok Lost untangled is some kind of lame claymation thing. Kind of funny but lame my opinion. It's on ABC.com
I know Melissa, even when Ben just said, "Hello Kate" it cracked me up. He's always saying hello to someone in a surprising way with that "who-me?" look on his face, heheh!
I love that we heard the names Robert (Rousseau's husband/boyfriend? that she shot) and Montand (sp?) (who lost his arm in the Dark Territory).
I thought lame too Sayidsgirl.
That was the McFarlane toys not claymation... it's lost goes Robot Chicken... I think.
And when he said "That's my lawyer" and looks at Sayid like "what?" Too funny.
So, Claire's mom really just "happened" to be in LA? Really?
So once again ABC.com coming very late to the party. How many fan videos have there been of those? They were trying really hard to get LOST viewers to hang around for Life on Mars.
woohooo ! I knew Jin was alive ! Now I have to watch this danm silly show to see lost untangled ? Pfffftttt !!! dang it ! wow, what a great epi that was !!
Mempish, maybe Miles left when he was a baby and can't remember?!
Ded well I thought they looked like McFarlane but they're a little worse for wear. And McFarlane didn't make all the characters so Lost untangled is going to be a little limited.
And no one ever told him the story of his birth, huh, Capcom? Yeah, I figure he was raised by people who were DI but not on the Island or something like that, just as Charlotte must have been given her bio that Ben recited. It's just funny that Miles knows so much about other people's secrets, but not his own. Not that unusual actually.
Well if it's as funny as Robot Chicken, I'll check it out. X-D
maybe Miles is the baby that Chang had in his Video from Comic Con
Well, that's what we'd have to assume, if that is the case I guess, Memphish. I'm calling shenanigans on that if it is. :o)
OK, so I'm dense and don't get the meaning of The Little Prince title, if it was just about Kate getting antsy with and about the lawyer. ???
Loved the episode... JIN!
Ben's so funny..
They could have done better casting for Danielle, IMO... doesn't look like her..
Good point, Sayid's Girl - there's only so many stories you can tell with Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Charlie, Locke, Hurley, Shannon and Mr. Eko. Especially because the McFarlane toys don't have any movable joints. :)
So, do you think that the nosebleeds happen to different people at different times because their constant may or may not be there during whatever time they end up in?
Interesting quote from wiki about the book The Little Prince:
The essence of the book is contained in the famous lines uttered by the fox to the Little Prince: "On ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." (One cannot see well except with the heart, the essential is invisible to the eyes).
Daniel said something about length of exposure on the Island. Maybe not exposure, but how long you've been on the Island. Juliet has been there 3+years. Does that mean Charlotte and Miles who started bleeding first have been there longer? Why don't they have better memories of it then?
Capcom, you don't want Chang's baby to be Miles? I've loved that since Comic Con. After all who else could it be?
The Little Prince also comes from a planet with three volcanoes and a single rose. The volcanoes of course remind me of the island, and the rose reminds me of The Dark Tower series. In those books, the Rose is the parallel of the Tower in the one true parallel world. Together, the Rose and the Tower are the lynch pins of all of the universes.
Back to Miles. Plus it would explain his abilities. And it would give him a reason to be there which otherwise doesn't really exist. I do still wonder how he knew to try to blackmail Ben. Why 3.2 million?
I don't know, memphish. It just seems like Charlotte got progressively worse, then later.. she was fine and someone else started a nosebleed (ie. Charlotte was fine when Juliet's nose started to bleed). Just trying to make sense of it (and with Des, his nosebleeds went away when he called Penny).
According to wikipedia, The Little Prince was based on experiences/hallucinations the author had while suffering from dehydration after his plane crashed in the Sahara.
The Book Club leader in you just won't stop will it ML. You can read The Little Prince here. I read it years ago both in English and French.
Oh I don't mind Miles being a Chang's baby, that's awesome! I just hope that it's not some convoluted, conceived on the island, born on the island, left the island, doesn't remember the island, kind of thing cuz it will take so long to get all that info! :-o
So who do we think came to the Island in outrigger canoes with water bottles from Ajira?
Could it be the O6? Why would they fire at the LBs? Clearly that was the future, as in past Jan 2-3, 2005 right?
Hee, hee - cross my love of books with my morbid fascination with wikipedia and we're all doomed! :)
I'll have to read it sometime - or maybe we just found our first entry for the next hiatus?
It would be a good hiatus book 'cause it's not very long. It is however weird in that normal French existential way.
Yeah, I think the Ajira bottle was definitely the future - it could be the O6, if they didn't know who they were shooting at.
Wasn't Ajira supposed to be a new airline (according to the web site)? How did Juliet know about it?
I thought maybe it was because The Little Prince was in French originally. . . and we got Danielle at the end.
This may be my favorite ever. . .well, at least in a really long time.
Danielle!!!!!
And Jin's Alive!!!!!!
And someone reminded Kate that, uh, Aaron really isn't her child. . .
No Des and Penny this time though. . . you all know how broken up I am about that one, right?
I guess that's about it for now. I'll rewatch tomorrow and try to update my timeline to include the new time skips. I think I'm going to try to just update and repost the original post and use new colors for each episode. We'll see how that goes.
I swear the one thing I was shouting at the TV when Jin arrived was "Ask her what year it is!"
So, if Jin's there with the french people, does that mean that somewhere on the island Locke and Co. are there too?
Are the time travelers 'the carriers' that Danielle talked about once upon a time?
I highly recommend the 1974 movie of The Little Prince. It's got the cutest little kid as the Prince, Richard Kiley with his wonderful voice as the narrator/pilot, Gene Wilder as the fox saying that line about "what's essential" and the lessons about taming something, and Bob fosse as the snake. And I promise that by the end you'll be in tears. It's wonderful. Sniff. Think I'll go watch it now.....
I was wondering about The Sickness as that was playing out too, Lost2010.
See you tomorrow Memphish! Can't wait to see your updated timeline.
hmmm that's a good question about the time travelers being the carriers.
And what if Montand was hanging onto one of the time travelers when they jump? Would his arm go with them like their clothes? Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!
We're really going to get Danielle's story. . . I am so excited I can hardly wait.
Great Performances on PBS just aired a new version of the opera a couple of months ago, too. It looked very surreal.
It's officially added to the book club list over at Amazon!
All right, I've been hovering on the edge of a migraine all night, and the computer is making it worse. I'm off to bed!
Really Melissa? Dangitt, I missed that. Hope you feel better soon. I had one today too!
G'night all, as always, watching with you all is great! Amps up the fun 100%!
good call sayids girl about someone not trying to kill sayid. i dont think that would be part of bens plan. so that would mean that widmore and his people are hot on bens trail.
whats done is done... loved the way Sawyer delivered that line.
i was totally with memphish when i saw jin on that board. my first thought was "come on"
and i really wanted to slap Jack when he told kate i can fix this. he doesnt seem to be learning from his past mistakes.
is there a significance to the jumps alternating between day and night
would rose and bernard be there own constants? and immune to the nosebleeds
Ok just finished watching, but my brain is still processing! This is just to mark my place.
Hey, Scoutpost...I just finished. Rewatching again with hubby now!
Jin...Danielle and her crew...future...Ajira...so many revelations!
Oh man, blogger ate my post again. I want a new computer!
I was glad to see Jin, but I agree that it is a stretch to believe that one. I hope Sun believes Ben and goes back. She needs to get her panties out of a wad. I don't like as an assasin. Plus, if they all go with Ben, can they get Ji Yeon? and if so, how? Would Sun leave her behind?
Since we are assuming Charlotte and Miles are DI babies, and their time on the island= cause of nosebleed, are we assuming Juliet's nosebleed is because of her 3 years as an Other, or could she be a DI baby, too? And if she is an Other do the indigenous Others get nosebleeds? I'm not sure Dan is telling all he knows...imagine that, a character not telling everything they know.
I just want to go on record and say I called Rousseau when they found the French wreckage on the beach. woohoo. LOL
Last- all I could think when Jack said, "I'll fix it" was- run Kate run! Oh I wanted to slap him too.
Hey all!
Just finished watching, going to bed now!
LOL @ the Lost Untangled thing. DarkUFO has it posted if you missed it. (sorry if that's already been mentioned - I'm not reading all the posts yet)
Have a nice night!
First off (from rewatch of pop-up: When Juliet says that Cunningham and Jones are Others, they don't say anything and kind of acknowledge that they are. The term "Others" must not have been around in 1950's island time. The Losties called the DI Others and the Others called this group the Hostiles. These indigenous people were not known as the Others in 1950's.
Just wanted to say I always thought it was Ben who was the client...manipulating Kate to go back with them.
One more thing- I'm wondering, too about Ajira. Could that be from the O6 returning? But why would they be in an outrigger canoe?
Another pop-up thing: Tonite's audience got to learn Charlie Hume's name right way and didn't have to wait for a whole episode to learn it! LOL
I, too, think when they got back to the camp, it was the future. Where the heck is everyone and Vincent? How did Juliet know about Ajira airlines if it is supposed to be new? Did the 06 come in on Ajira (as far as Guam)...then outriggered to the island?
Okay...I seem to be monopolizing this conversation...will wait until tomorrow to post some more thoughts...like I think we got confirmation that Miles is Baby Chang!
Did anyone mention the anagram of the night? Ben's van says Rainier-Canton. Try and get it.
Good for you scoutpost. I figured the girl in the flashed scenes was Danielle after watching the preview a 1/2 dozen times. I'm not sure if I would have put her and the wreckage together if it hadn't already been in my head.
When I seen the wreckage though I knew I was right.
I don't know about you but I'm not sure I like this faster pace of the show. There doesn't seem to be as much mystery except for the time travling stuff. It will probably only take 10 minutes to see Danielle's story.
For those who watch the previews. Is it me or does it seem like they're putting an awful lot of information in them this year.
I'm not really being surprised to much by the episodes. We got to see the hatch light, a flash of Claire and Sayid being attacked, the gun Sun had, when they all come together at the marina a flash of Danielle they only real surpise was Jin. I know it sounds like it but I'm not complaining. I am really enjoying this season.
And yes I wanted to slap Jack too. He always gets on my nerves.
I laughed so hard when they were being shot at and they time jumped and Sawyer said thank you God. Then it was pouring rain ...I take it back.
memphish
Reincarnation
Sayid's Girl, you especially have to check out this photo from Ack Attack. It cracked me up.
It would be better if they used his real body.
But then it wouldn't be funny.
Sayid's Girl, about the previews, that's why I've mostly been avoiding them, but I did watch this week, and now I'll try to avoid thinking about them.
Yeah I know. I like getting teased by the preview. But don't show me every surprise that going to be in the show. Even if it is out of context.
On to the mundane. Montand is hot.
I did think it was interesting that the Big Lie basically comes from Jack's love for Kate. He's letting Kate keep Aaron and concocting this giant, iffy scenario because of her feelings for Sawyer.
BTW
I like your avi. I had to enlarge it to figure out what it was.
We all knew Ben sent the lawyers after Kate. So I'm guessing since these guys after Sayid are Ben's too since they're not out to kill him. Ben knew Sayid would be a hard case.
Well that sentence didn't make since. My brain got ahead of my fingers or maybe it's the other way around.
It should be I'm guessing these guys are Ben's...take the first since out.
That sentence did make sense
And since there isn't a trash can I can't delete it.
I need some caffine.
ahhhhhh Now there's a trash can.
That's enough posts in a row. I'm done for now.
Kate has such a unique view of life.. . .
Kate: Hey Jack! You still love me right?
(Jack looks at Kate with hangdog expression.)
Kate: Well, you just let Sawyer DIE - you know - Sawyer - that guy I treat like crap to make you jealous?
(Jack looks contrite then confused)
Jack: Wait, Kate. Sawyer's not actually dead.
(Kate hugs Aaron to her chest)
Kate: Regardless, I've lost Sawyer, and several other people I never really seemed to care too much about. It must be your fault, Jack. Fix this - -that's what you do, right?
(Jack looks like he kind of wishes he'd thought to make a big self-sacrificing jump out of the helicopter so that he could prove his love for Kate without actually having to put up with her.)
Kate: So, I'm going to keep this baby to make up for it. We'll just say I was pregnant when I got on the plane.
Jack: Uh, okay. . . look I'm a doctor and half the island's seen you half-naked and there's no way you had a baby a month ago. Just sayin'.
Kate: Quit confusing me with logic, Jack. Oh and Jack - - even though I've spent the last two seasons in and out of Sawyer's bed? I've always been with you, baby.
Jack: Uh, right. Hey, next time we go to the island, can I be the guy you use to make Sawyer jealous? 'Cuz that looks like a lot more fun to be honest.
Kate: Focus Jack.
Hilarious Lost2010.
Yeah Kate's logic always leaves me baffled. And the fact that a level-headed doctor falls for those batting eyelashes always lowers Jack a peg for me. When he wanted to "fix it" by talking to Mrs. Littleton I wanted to slug him.
Yeah, I was glad he was helping her out right up until he said that.
Promo based speculation to follow. You have been warned.
Do you think we'll get see again the scene from the beginning of Ep 5.1 of Dan in the Orchid next week? Will they time jump while they're there to the date of filming the Arrow orientation film?
And nice call back to lowering Kate into the Swan Hatch. Do you think Locke will count to 5?
Promo related. . . .
memphish - That's a good point. That would make a lot of sense as to how Dan got to the Orchid wouldn't it?
great episode! they really threw me off with Claire's mom..I thought it had to be her, but then I thought maybe Jack was trying a Ben maneuver. And it turned out to be Ben himself! LOL
Seriously, tho, I dont' have a problem with Jin being rescued by Rousseau and Co. I dont' think it's necessarily so that he went through time jumps in the water. We might be seeing the beginning of his journey, right after the explosion. His story does not have to be taking place simultaneous with the LBs and the O6s. We have no way of knowing how time is passing for each group.
What we do know is that we are probably seeing the LBs on the Island during the time right after the Island moved.
And we are seeing the LBs three years after their return home, and stuff has happened on the Island that was very bad, but we dont' know what yet.
So Jin's story may be set right after the explosion. Maybe the explosion sent him to Rousseau's time and he won't experience jumps like everyone else? I'm open to that.
ack! that should read "we are seeing the 06 three years after their return home..."
more coffee...
A2BH, but Charlotte finds wreckage from the French ship. I think that firmly places the LBs and Jin in the same timeline now 1988 if Lost Untangled is to be believed, and as a date matches up to a 16-year-old Alex in 2004.
So do you think Rousseau's group will time skip or will they not? Arguments for them skipping is of course the sickness though Danielle never mentioned bloody noses to Claire. Also arguing for is the fact that the ones we've encountered so far who do not skip are all Others. I still want to know why Juilet is skipping but Cindy and the rest of Alpert's group are not.
Until we see Jin meeting up with the LBs, I dont think we have to say that he and they are in the same timeline. We could still be seeing his story separately for now. But I could still be wrong.
And yeah,it would explain the 'sickness' if the French team came to the Island when it was jumping around, and so they came down with nosebleeds and stuff, so Danielle shot them before they could go as crazy as she did. Did Rousseau ever detail what the 'sickness' was? I don't remember if she did.
ah, I look forward to seeing Mira Furlan again!
Great episode and great comments by all.
I have to say that I thought it was Sun who sent the lawyers to Kate to avenge Jin's death. Then I saw Carol Littleton, and was like OMG, how does she know?!?!?! Of course, Ben set it all up to get her to leave.
And, where is Ji Yeon and will Sun be able to take her to the island?
When Jack said "I can fix it", I couldn't help but think about Jeff Spicoli in Fast Times at Ridgemont High saying "I can fix it, my dad's got an awesome set of tools" after crashing the car. Made me chuckle.
Need more Hurley!!!!
So I've been wondering about the 3 year time difference from the time skipping LBs and the O6. First I thought that the O6 would go back to 2005, but now I'm wondering if the Island will skip ahead to 2007/8 then stop skipping and the LBs just get to skip the years in between.
G'day LoCos! Everyone's having a enjoyable Lost hangover I presume? :o)
Scoutpost, before you hit the publish button, curser-swipe your comments and rightclick and copy, and then if the blogger eats your comments, you just have to paste them back in. That's what I do, if I write something long in my usual bloviating manner, heheh.
That said, I agree, if Sun becomes a psycho killer, I won't like her anymore either.
Spoeaking of dislikes, I dislikes kate even more if that was possible, for jerking Sawyer around so badly. He owes her a punch in the noggin.
I agree Maven, and it has always bothered me when Juliet uses the word "Others".
Ditto on Montand, Memphish!!!!!
Yeah, what you said Amused, sounds good so far. :-D
Me too Memphish, why IS Juliet skip-tripping with the Losties?!
Do you all think that maybe TPTB made Jack say the dreaded "fix it" words just to bug us? :o)
I forgot to mention that I'm glad they showed Jack getting in trouble with the hospital. I know that bothered a lot of us. It seems like St. Sebastian is easy to infiltrate given horse tranquilizer guy.
So who is trying to drug Sayid? Ben or Widmore or Other?
I'm not convinced that you need a constant in the physical time skipping version of time travel, but if you do one could surmise that Daniel's nose isn't bleeding because he connected with Desmond, Locke's nose isn't bleeding because he connected with Alpert, and Sawyer's nose isn't bleeding because he just saw Kate.
I really want to know how much Daniel knows and how much he's just guessing. AND why Alpert isn't jumping because that dude should have been shooting blood out of every orifice in the first jump if time on Island is the key.
On first guess, I'd think Ben was harassing Sayid the way he was Kate, to get him to want to get out of Dodge and back to the island. I kind of think that Ben had Nadia killed too for the same reason.
If the other Losties agree to go back and Kate is the problem, I think that I want someone to slap her into her sense...just becuase I want to see her slapped. :-p
Morning all!
sayid's girl said...I don't know about you but I'm not sure I like this faster pace of the show. There doesn't seem to be as much mystery except for the time travling stuff. It will probably only take 10 minutes to see Danielle's story.
I kind of agree. Like you said, I'm not complaining, but I feel like they are giving us a lot of info right now to set us up for something big. That's ok, but I'm used to being more on the edge of my seat each week, and these episodes haven't been doing that.
memphish said...On to the mundane. Montand is hot.
Totally agree there, but alas he will be passing through briefly just like Keamy. Like a one night stand. LOL
Lost2010- your take on Kate is hilarious...and sadly accurate. I can't figure her out. It's a little too much Scarlett O'hara for me. (even though GWTW is one of my favorite movies)
Other than that, good comments, I think if I were to say much else it would be redundant because I have the same questions. Especially bothering me is the mysteries surrounding Juliet and her nosebleeds and her status with the Others.
And thanks Capcom for the copying advice, going to do that now. :)
Yeah memphish, if there was ever a time for the LB's to sit down and have a serious pow wow, it's now. Not that we'll see it of course, but I can't imagine all this going on and not pinning both Juliet and Dan to the wall and making them spill everything they know.
Morning all: I think it was a great episode with a lot of reveals and answers to some plot points.
I think Jin is in the same time line as the LBers. They landed on a beach in the dark after the storm and they don't know where they are. I can buy Jin floating within the perimeter of the island on a piece of freighter...he looked pretty dehydrated and sunburnt. I think the whole island and it's perimeter time-skips together. But he was unconscious and looked really confused when he woke up. Have we really figured out how many actual hours have gone by since the island disappeared?
I'm a little confused about Sun's killer instinct now. I know she blamed everyone for Jin's death and I think Ben is manipulating that, too. The only one who threw him for a loop was Hurley's trip to jail.
I think we did get confirmation (as much as one can get on this show) that Miles was also born on this island. Would Dan have known that since he was around Pierre Chang when he was making those videos? It seems the nosebleeds happen depending how long you've been on the island. So Charlotte was born first, then Miles and now Juliet.
The set up for fooling us about Grandma Littleton was well-done. By the lawyer using the word "custody" made us think of a family relation going after Aaron.
Also agree with you, Sayid'sgirl, that Ben might be the one orchestrating all the "bad guys" going after Sayid, Hurley, etc. If they were sent by someone like Widmore, there might be bullets in those guns instead of darts. Maybe Sun's "gun" has darts, too! LOL
Good call on the anagram on the van. So does that mean Locke will be reincarnated?
Great tie-in with Ajira water bottle. But how did Juliet know that Ajira was an airline from India? It's supposed to be a new airline. I'm thinking that the O6 takes Ajira as far as Guam and then they have to outrigger themselves to a coordinate determined by the "event window" from Eloise Hawking in order to get back to the island within the 70 hours timetable.
I also agree that they are in the future when they get back to the deserted camp. Not sure where everyone and Vincent have gone. Daniel did say they can jump to a future, too.
Also gagged a little when Jack told Kate he can "fix this"!
Exactly Maven, if it was one of Widmore's "Keamys" after Sayid, he'd probably have been dead in "The Lie". :-o
All right time travel experts -- could our 2005 LBs be chased in the outrigger by future versions of themselves? Wouldn't their future selves have knowledge of their movements? I just hope that's not the case.
memphish - I think it would be possible for them to be chasing themselves, but you're right - future selves would remember being chased and would probably not be shooting.
I've always been a Skater, while at the same not being terribly invested in who Kate picks. However, after Sawyer's tearful scenes last night, I have to say, if Kate doesn't ultimately pick him, she deserves a good smack in the face.
That's what I posted last night Memphish, just as a joke. But it still sticks in the back of my mind as being not far out of TPTBs range of favorite ways to shock us. :o)
ML, you should listen to Jay and Jack's crackpot theory.
I have to say one of my favorite moments was hearing "4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42" on the French radio.
UNLESS..... maybe the second canoe WAS future versions, and they were trying to stop their past selves from doing something terrible. That could explain why the second canoe was filled with such crappy shots - they were trying to stop the canoe, not kill anyone. :)
What's the crackpot theory?
I wouldn't put it past TPTB to have the future selves chasing our LBers! But I wonder if the warning from Chang that Bunny 15 can't touch Bunny 15 will apply to the LBers meeting up with themselves in any time-skip?
Trying to stop themselves from making things worse, maybe? Could be.
Good point, maven - I'm surprised Dan hasn't warned about watching out for themselves. Although Locke seemed to instinctively know that would be a bad idea.
The canoes made me think of Juliet's runway for some reason.
If the O6 fly Ajira and land on Juliet's runway, they'd probably be packing some sort of boat to get them to the main island. Of course, you'd wonder where they all ran off to just leaving both their canoes unguarded.
But it seems to me like the O6 would be particularly careful about not shooting at anyone that they didn't get a good look at since they are supposedly going back to protect their friends. . .
I dunno. . .it starts to move in circles.
Yes, Lost2010, and my brain is spinning in the concentric circles on the Orchid logo!
About the people who are after Sayid...
In "The Economist", wasn't Elsa intent on bringing in Sayid alive also?
I forget Blueheron, good memory. Could she have been working for Ben too in harassing Ssyid? Probably not but...I dunno.
Interesting point, BlueHeron. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Widmore and Ben are such enemies after all, and they are both working to save the island. They just might be aiding and abetting each other in this game they're playing. They both seem to have to find and get back to the island. Maybe the big showdown will be when they both get there! Who knows what the real rules are of this game?
If Ben is behind the attacks on Sayid, he sure has sacrificed a lot of his people in the process!
perhaps the french are time skipping as well, if they landed during a purpling or storm perhaps they are outside time like the 815'ers. That would explain roussaue's people getting the sickness and her all around crazyness, if they are time jumping until the problem is fixed Maybe walt doesnt have to go back because if you come during a purpling you have to leave during a purpling, i always thought it was crazy timeing that ben lek mike and walt leave right as the swan blew.
maybe in order for locke to become jacob you have to be dead when you come to the island, but also during a flash event. Christain came to the island while desmond was off chasing kelvin. I did say ben was ultimately the mortal leader of the others, but i think the irony will be that locke is jacob his beard was indicative of the others predaliction for disguises. Locke loves games who better to look at the timeline as a whole and tell Ben what to tweak. I also think its obvious that kelvin and frank were working closely with Ben, thoerwise their perfect timing, 815 crash or Jin getting blown to safety have too perfectly for chance...
i agree that the ajira water and canoe were from the returning O6, it appeared that the french stole the zodiac. The 06 had to hide because locke had to complete his mission to the orchid or else he never goes backk as jeremy bentham and subsequently never tells the O6 they need to go back.
if thats true and the o6 were already back at that moment, it seems to show that their presence alone didn't fix the problem, either the breach in the orchid needs to be fixed or Locke has to complete his frozen donkey wheel adventure to complete the mission and fix the problem
My theory on Rousseau's people possibly time jumping is that since they've arrived on Island when time jumping is going on and they don't have whatever immunities it is that the Others have they will jump too. And maybe Danielle won't jump because of something to do with Alex and pregnancy giving her those immunities.
But that doesn't jive in with taking Alex from the crazy lady who killed all her own people which I think is from a deleted scene of Ben's, and therefore non-canon(?).
ML -- Jack's crackpot theory (or statement) was that Sawyer really loves Kate while Jack is just trying to fix things for her, an emotion he confuses with real love. So that in the end Kate will end up with Sawyer because Jack will step aside or Sawyer will die sacrificially and Kate and Jack will be together by default.
Ever since Kate returned in One of Us I've felt that Sawyer loves Kate more or at least better than Jack. Jack's ability to love a woman is really screwed up. More screwed up than his past would seem to indicate, but maybe he's got some more half-siblings out there that would explain that.
2costa, your comments make me think that it really could be the time-skipping that makes the B612 team go nuts. How they heck could they ever figure out what was going on? Every so often a light flashes and their stuff disappears and reappears, or it goes from day to night, and people start passing out, etc. Not to mention if they happen to see themselves! Oy.
Bleuheron, I was just wondering if Elsa only was on orders from Ben, and that the other people Ben was having him kill were Wid's. But I'm not in love with my theories or ideas....ever. :-)
I totally agree with you about Jack, Memphish.
2costa,
I like your observation that stopping the time jumps may require more than just the O6's presence on the island. I'm with you in thinking that Locke will first have to complete his "destiny" and get off the island to do whatever it is he did as Jeremy Bentham. Then maybe we'll be able to get off this merry-go-round for a while.
memphish - I completely agree with the crackpot theory. I think Jack loves Kate in the same way he loved Sarah - because they had been through a lot together and he felt that he should.
Trying to make sense of next week's promo (fair warning):
We're reasonably sure that the LB's are in 1988 right now. But the promo shows Locke being lowered down a very deep well at what I assume is the site of the FDW. But the Orchid Station is not there. Why wouldn't it be there in 1988? Does this mean that there has to be another time flash while the group is on the way to the Orchid site? If that's true, we should find out pretty quickly whether Danielle's team is going to experience time flashes or not.
If Rousseau's time does time jump, that might explain how Rousseau survived The Purge - maybe she was in another time when it happened?
Good point ML. Maybe we'd finally be able to reconcile Alex's age with Dream Ghost Horace.
Blue Heron, I tried not to look too hard at that part of the promo, but it looked like there was a time jump during the lowering. 2 thoughts though 1) maybe turning the FDW created that shaft which exists now no matter what time they are in or 2) Locke couldn't find the anthuriums again.
I've got to say I don't like Kate. But if she has to end up with one of them. I'd rather it be Sawyer, for Sawyer's sake. He at least has accepted that he can love and be loved.
Here's my take on Danielle's crew. Either the island skipped to Danielle's time or the LBers did. I'm still not sure which is jumping, but you get the same result. Anyway it's Danielle's time they would have landed on the island at that time whether or not the LBers ended up in that time. So I don't think it's the time jumps that affect her crew. Nor do I think they will jump in time in the next flash. They will just be gone like Ethan, Widmore etc. I think maybe crossing the barrier might be what affects her crew.
Daniel asked if Desmond had been exposed to large amounts of radiation recently. When you go through the "barrier" if you have you get affect in some degree, it's different for different people. The fact that Danielle is pregnant it's unlikely she's been exposed to radiation recently. Which is why she's not affect by crossing the "barrier". Now why or if her crew has been exposed to radiation is up for debate I guess. Or maybe being exposed to radiation makes your experience to time travel harder. With the island time jumping over and over it's like crossing the "barrier" over and over for the LBers and Miles,Charlotte and Daniel. Just my opinion.
Daniel not having a nosebleed may be because he's been time taveling for awhile.
Also Miles not remembering he's been on the island before or longer than he knows. Might be an effect of the time jumps. Charlotte is losing some of her memory.
I've been busy this morning so I haven't had a chance to re watch yet.
lol Locke couldn't find the anthuriums again.
I'm wondering what happens when that time flash happens in the tunnel/hole.
I only thought the DI was purged. We would Danielle be purged even if she was on the island at that time? She could have hid. I imagine she was pretty paranoid after her crew went crazy and she had to kill them all.
ahhh why not we would Danielle be purged?
wow for a season that promised so many answers (and we are getting them!), we sure are gettin a whole boatload of new questions!!
I love it!
The rope should jump along with them, as long as they are touching it, right?
Good theory, Memphish.
There is a well for people to use if they can't identify anthuriums.
Presumably, BH.
Sayid's Girl -- what you're saying about Rousseau's group is what I'd been thinking since last season, but I think if they wanted to change things up, this would be their opportunity since we're faced with non-indigenous people nor people recruiting by the indigenous ones. And I'm worried we won't see the whole story if they don't jump too. After all Rousseau changed the message at the radio tower 3 days before birthing Alex, and she arrived on Island 7 months pregnant, if she is to be believed.
Well, Dan and Charlotte at least implied that Ben used the Tempest to spread the gas across the island during the Purge. If that's the case, I don't know where Danielle could have hidden unless she was sealed up inside a hatch somewhere.
This chart should have included me with Sun, but enjoy!
I think the O6 is going to take all season to get back to the Island...at least at this rate!
Ms Hawking only give Ben 70 hours to get everyone on their way, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. What do you all think will be the consequence of missing that deadline?
On another topic, do you think the O6 will take an moment and say goodbye forever to their loved ones? After all, they disappeared once and came back, they have to assume their loved ones will continue to search for them this time too. At least put their minds at ease...Jack's mom, Hurley's parents, Sun's mom (gee, notice a theme here?).
Lastly: what would you pack for a one way trip to the Island? Smoke Monster treats?
discuss!
Dang you Blogger!
How could Sayid have been unconscious for 42 hours? He laid on Hurley's couch that long? Or is Jack being shady? Which would make him more interesting.
So are the dart guys also trying to round up the O6 to make the 70 hour window? Is Widmore trying to tag along with them and leave Ben out? Seems like this week's dart guy was to get Sayid and then go get Kate and Aaron.
