LEFT BEHIND - SEASON 3, EPISODE 15

I know this promotional picture is probably in direct violation of our spoiler policies but I thought the big, dead swine was definitely frontpage material. Hopefully it won't ruin the fun of tonight's Kate-centric "Rumble in the Jungle".

First!!! I have not been able to say that in like forever!!!

Thrasher76 said...

Actually I cheated, I saw that David made this post at 9am and since I still can do it, I posted it. I hope that is cool David?!?!?!?! I miss the game!!! And I miss being on here with you guys!!

memphish said...

3rd behind cheater Thrasher. JK.

memphish said...

Having read your last post on the last thread Thrasher your appearance here is even funnier.

Thrasher76 said...

No worries Memphish, I am looking forward to tonight and the kate-fight, I mean cat fight between Kate and Jules!!

memphish said...

Final post for a bit. Do you think that might be Frogurt with Sawyer? He was in the food industry.

Oh and congrats on the new job Thrasher.

Thrasher76 said...

Thanks, I am going to be off as well.

maven said...

Thrasher...congrats on the new job. It seems "respectable"! LOL Whatever happened to Belly?

Can't wait for the cat fight!

Ange said...

Thrasher smells a chick fight, that is why he cheated, he couldn't help it! Looking forward to tonight.

Friday's_Child said...

Howdy y'all!
Hey, Memphish, if you're still here, or anyone else who can jog my memory:

Who is Frogurt??

The name is so familiar, but the memory just won't come...and here you guys have been talking about ages & birthdays...I definitely don't need any more birthdays!!

Ange said...

Friday- Frogurt is the dancing panda kid!

memphish said...

Friday's _child, Frogurt came up in the episode SOS. He's one of the Fusie survivors. His first name is Neil and he supposedly runs/owns a frozen yogurt place thus they refer to him as Frogurt. His mention in SOS was first teased (or pre-hashed) on the Official Podcast. I guess you might say he's the new Scott since Scott (not Steve) is dead. And the only way I remember that is it's alphabetical.

Friday's_Child said...

Wow, Memphish, you ARE good!!

Thanks!

Friday's_Child said...

Ange...dude!!! That's where I remember hearing that name. The dancing panda kid!!

Right on!! Shout-outs for both you and Memphish!!

(Don't mind me...I'm in a very screwy mood today...must be pre-Lost jitters...)

maven said...

I remember the Dancing Panda! LOL
Memphish, you're just a fountain of facts! Love it!

Friday's_Child said...

Maven,

It's funny how, post-TLE, we continue to look for our old buddies from that glorious time.

I'm still wondering whatever happened to MarcusAllenCooper and (sigh) Matt The Pale...

maven said...

Memories....

Ange said...

Is the official podcast spoilery this week? I am debating having a listen before 10.

memphish said...

Ange there is one thing spoilery in it about tonight's episode. The same thing is also in the Doc Jensen article. Knowing it takes away a certain element of surprise, but there are no specifics. Is that a vague enough answer?

More importantly though, I don't think there's anything in it you need to know before you watch tonight.

Ange said...

Thanks! That is exactly what I needed to know!

Joseph Finchum said...

Hey all,
Happy LOST day. Just got in from work and am ready for the show. I might jump in during but most likely I will wait til after the show to start posting like a Mad Hatter.

See ya'll then

Friday's_Child said...

robc:

I seem to remember reading about where Matt got his name, but I've forgotten.

I'd fantasize that he was an English knight from the Round Table: Enter ye, Matt the Pale!

(Pre-Lost jitters continue...)

What did Matt tell you?

Friday's_Child said...

Yikes! I'm about to miss "Bones"!!!

See ya'll later!

Tess315 said...

Hey LoCos
Happy Lost Day
ded love your avatar.

Tim said...

wow, juliette with some skills!

maven said...

I think he got his name from a character in a novel he was writing. His ears are probably burning and he is most likely lurking. Hi, Matt!

See ya all later after the show!

Tess315 said...

Hey,it's Sawyer's girlfriend. Can't remember her name.

memphish said...

Wow! As little as there was last week, they made up for it in 6 minutes.

Guess Kate's just going to be getting payback later.

More Patsy Cline; same as before tho. Walking After Midnight makes it's 3rd appearance.

The tow truck driver was named Johnny like Hurley's ex-BFF.

Cassidy called Kate "stranded."

Another backgammon board.

Is Locke's hand burned? From blowing up/not the sub?

The LIST is driving me crazy.

"I'm sorry" also returns.

Tim said...

I don't know how Locke's hand would have been burned. I don't think we saw anything that would have explained that.

Tess315 said...

Thanks experimentalfilm

memphish said...

Sawyer is having to re-read Watership Down. Is he finally out of books?

Hurley is now Rupert from Survivor? Is there an Exile Island? Actually there is.

So the Others are Nazis with the gas?

Kate learned to con from Cassidy and she's Catholic. Was Cassidy also the one helping her in Born to Run?

Cassidy is drinking so she's not pregnant by Sawyer?

Tess315 said...

Yeah, Locke's hand was ok the last time we seen him.

Tim said...

Watership Down is one of my favorite books. Relates a lot to living in a community, so maybe that's why they're having him re-read it.

Maybe Locke hurt his hand beating up his dad.

Tim said...

hell yeah!!!! classic smoke monster! it's been far too long.

memphish said...

And Juliet doesn't know who/what Smokey is.

Tess315 said...

So Juliet doesn't know what the "monster" is?

memphish said...

Juliet is a plant! Ben's putting her in the Losties camp where she will be able to use the "left behind" Walkie.

Tim said...

I think Kate broke Juliette's arm.

Smokey is mad!

memphish said...

Kate and Cassidy are alike because someone who was supposed to love them betrayed them.

Good episode so far. Sounds like the Monster from The Pilot.

memphish said...

There was a definite bone breaking sound, but it looked like Kate was strangling her when it happened.

Tim said...

Wow. What in the world was that!

Anonymous said...

okay, how long has it been?? season 1??

Tim said...

Who thinks Hurley is just making up the "vote" thing to get Sawyer to be nice?

Joseph Finchum said...

woah,
That was new from smokey... what the H E double Hockey Sticks was that. Does Smokey have a Camera in his face???

Anonymous said...

ummm...........flashes of light from the dino-smoke or whatever??

is it a giant tyrannosaurus with a camera?? hahaha

Joseph Finchum said...

oooooohhhh Tim,

I smell a conspiracy... lol

Anonymous said...

ummm.......me and jezter on the same wavelength? haha

Tim said...

I will now refer to the smoke monster as the

"smoke monster tourist."

Glad to see it still rained when he came. Definitely heard the ticker tape, but we hadn't heard it howl like that (or make those very gutteral growling sounds) since season one.

memphish said...

Hey Chucklez! Missed ya'.

So Juliet has dislocated her shoulder 4 times. Jack dislocated his shoulder in The Moth and Charlie popped it back in. Think Kate will make Juliet a sling? I vote no.

Hurley is running a Charm School, and yes now that you mention it, I do think it's a con.

And is that Monster feeding Desmond's flashes? Does it just have the super duper flashbulb attachment. It was definitely reading Juliet probably for the 1st time.

Tess315 said...

I agree tim.
Poor Sawyer. I think Claire was in on it.

Anonymous said...

exactly tim. that's what i said too. nice to hear that.

also, did we ever TRULY pinpoint that the "ROAR" was indeed "smokey"???

Anonymous said...

thanks memphish. i've been kinda' "reclusive" lately.

not very sociable.

Anonymous said...

persistent creature huh?

Anonymous said...

oh what a tangled web we weave.....

memphish said...

So is this all just a giant con to get Kate to go away and leave Jack, Sayid and Locke with the Others?

memphish said...

What to believe? Aaaarrrgggg!

Tim said...

for me, best episode in a long time!

Plenty of Sawyer, plenty of Kate, not much Locke, and lots of smoke monster make me happy.

Tim said...

Oh man. I called it.

Anonymous said...

and what happened to time travel? and will Paolo and Nikki be dug up by Vincent?

Where IS Vincent?

Are Michael and Walt sitting somewhere playing chess?

Anonymous said...

oh GAWD!!! more "new" characters?????? what the deuce???

please oh god, don't "introduce" them!!!!

Anonymous said...

What if HURLEY is "HIM"? *gasp*!! hahaha. j/k.

Anonymous said...

riddle me this.

why didn't the smoke just go OVER the dad-blame fence???

Anonymous said...

wow. the kate/jack thing is almost "mirroring" me and lostnuts.

maybe i'm a little delusional. hahaha.

eh.

Tim said...

I guess that rules out the "Sawyer got conned" by Cassidy with the whole baby situation.

Anonymous said...

HA! I told someone that before!! Sweet! Sayid's my boy. just wish they didn't have him do that "crappy trap" last season.

eh.

memphish said...

Yep, guess little Clementine is Sawyer's.

memphish said...

Jack is a so stupid! Juliet is a plant! A big fat stinking plant! And I hope Sayid takes her out. Torture! Bring on the Torture! Can you tell I don't like Juliet?

Anonymous said...

still don't get why the smoke didn't just go OVER the fence.

Anonymous said...

you don't like juliet??

wow......where have i been?

memphish said...

Agree Chucklez. If Kate and Sayid are smart enough to go over the fence, why isn't Smokey, unless he's part of the con too.

I think all this bugging out is a big giant con and the Others will be back in Othersville before J,K, Sayid and Juliet hit the beach.

Tess315 said...

Can't wait til next week. Sayid's my man.

memphish said...

Why were Jack and Sayid knocked out at least an entire day longer than Kate and Juliet? Dharma Smelling Salts in the jungle? I bet Juliet had them in her pocket with the key. In fact I bet Juliet wasn't knocked out at all, but was faking it.

Tim said...

The biggest questions, for me, include:

1. All the new smoke monster stuff and questions.

2. Locke leaving with the Others in the beginning.

Anonymous said...

memphish: the last part.....ditto.

Anonymous said...

it's all a setup.

locke's leading the other creaps.

jack and juliet are the other part of the setup. or at least juliet for sure.

all a ploy to catch the losties all in one basket.

memphish said...

Chucklez I knew you'd like the conspiracy theory angle.

So why was everything knocked over in Jack's house? He had enough time to do all that while trying to escape out the side door?

Sayid needs to take out his Ana Lucia induced agression on Juliet. I bet he will in fact because he told Ana "it's not your fault; it's theirs."

memphish said...

Why won't Smokey ever penetrate those trees? Kate hid there in The Pilot. Walt hid in them in Special. Danielle, Kate and Jack hid in them in the Season 1 finale.

Anonymous said...

what's with the inconsistency with smokey? runs over trees, then doesn't bother with some. and turns around at the fence, even though it could go over it!!

Anonymous said...

at least we've gotten away from the time travel thing for a while.

memphish said...

Chucklez, I'm guessing he was programmed by this guy I worked with right out of college who always said "consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" when I was testing his code.

Anonymous said...

hahaha.

"inconsistency is the product of too many damn ideas, but only ONE show"

memphish said...

Sawyer said he was trying to win "hearts and minds" which was the title of the one Boone and Shannon flashback in Season 1.

memphish said...

Dolenore, how high up was the cockpit when it was on end. It seemed like Jack, Kate and Charlie climbed more than 10 feet.

Unknown said...

Some observations:

-The Monster definitely made some elephant noises tonight

-How high up in the air have we ever seen the Monster travel? For those who think Smokey's controlled by underground rails and magnets....well, you may have some strong circumstantial evidence now

-Obviously, one possibility for the flashes from the Monster is some sort of recognition system. It could also be a method of communication between the other Others and Juliet, in keeping with the "they're all conning the Losties" theory

-Remember the cartoon Jack was watching in the Hydra? Maybe Juliet's the black swan, maybe she's the vulture

Joseph Finchum said...

Ok that was a decent episode.
And apparently you can teach old smoke monsters new tricks... lol

Tess315 said...

I'd like to give more opinion about next weeks episode but I don't want to get any farther into spoiler territory than I already have.
Just hope I'll be satified with the outcome.

The fence seemed to spread out smokey and hold it. I guess it's more of a head on attacker. Maybe it doesn't have the intelligence to go over the fence. Don't know.

Anonymous said...

Point A -------- Point B.
^
Ideal route ^

However, there are infinite other routes and they're going about halfway down each street before realizing it's too far of a "by-way". So, they turn around and try yet another route..........and another............and another.........ultimate, they should just drop by and ask directions here at the local convenient store/gas station of the Lost Series.

Or just buy a damn map.

memphish said...

The Book Police said, Maybe Juliet's the black swan, maybe she's the vulture.

I agree. So who's going to be the one swooping in to save the ducklings?

Locke's superiority complex is grating. Finally little Johnny's on top. That is just Ben manipulating him.

Capcom said...

Wowowowowowowowowowowowow! I was actually crawling up the couch scared duiring some of the parts this ep! And then I called myself a wuss.

Wow, where did They go??? Can't wait to find out. And if I were the Fusies I would just plant myself right in their former quarters, thank you very much! Finders keepers, Others are the weepers! Hell, they've probably got a whole "New-New York City" underground somewhere.

Man, Smokey totally scared me tonight!!! That thing freaks me out.

Locke is.....well, I don't know what to say about Locke anymore. I guess just because you happened to get stuck on an island with a bunch of fellow travelers, doesn't really mean that you owe them anything or vice-versa. Locke has his dream and I guess he must follow it. Even if it means following the Others. I think that he is as enamored of Ben's and the Others' power, as much as Ben is of his.

I still believe that Juliet is a good person, but you obviously have to look out for yourself on this island. Why should she be the only one who doesn't?

Poor Sawyer, now that Jack's back, he gets pushed out again. I hope not, maybe Jack is to damm tired to do any leadering anymore.

And speaking of leaders, Hurley is one super leader now! The best kind of leaders lead invisibly, and help their people get ahead. His good-natured Sawyer con showed him at his best.

Wow. SO GLAD that I have all of you to talk about this with!

Welcome back Chuck!

Thrasher starting a thread! Just like old times! Yeah, where is Mr. Belly?!

Black Swan said...

Totally agree Juliet's a plant!!!

And I'm with you, sayid'sgirl, I hope we are satisfied with the outcome!!

Unknown said...

Oh, and memphish, that's a line from Self-Reliance by Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Anonymous said...

didn't we see smokey fly in from the sky in the first episode?? anyone else remember the "magic carpet" deal???

memphish said...

Thanks TBP. Another philosopher eh?

memphish said...

Hurley, not Ben is now The Wizard. Tomorrow I'll be changing my avatar. Don't have time now. I really enjoyed that B story. Hubby kept saying "It's not that funny," but I thought it was.

Joseph Finchum said...

Oh I agree as well. Juliet is a plant and we know this because of the last episode. That is why we were given the tiny snipet from the pearl with Juliet and Ben, so we can see just how deep she dwells in Ben's overall plan.

Unknown said...

memphish, I could maybe answer that question by dipping into Spoilerville, but I won't. But there's a person who's been signed to a forthcoming recurring role who might have some "feathers" good for swooping in.

(hope that's vague enough to not be a spoiler)

Anonymous said...

hmm........did they go to the "third island"?? haha........eh....yeah, i've got nuthin.

(still holding onto that thought from a while ago)

memphish said...

I think I just figured out Paolo's stare. It was nicotine withdrawl fantasies as he watched the Smoke Monster and thought I wish I had a cigarette that would create that cloud.

Tess315 said...

memphish
Tell your hubby yes it was that funny. I certainly was laughing out loud.

Anonymous said...

dolenore, you can look it up. it's been all over the net.

Anonymous said...

TBP: "feathers"?? Larry Bird??

j/k.

memphish said...

Chucklez your 3rd island may finally rear its head.

TBP, I'll stay away from that spoiler. I can take the general hint though. Guess I should work on the wiki though.

If I were the Others I'd just go back home what with all the lovely paintings and photos of Alex.

Any guesses on Karl's whereabouts?

Unknown said...

How many Others are left? Could they all have tucked in to the Galaga COUGHthat Locke didn't blow upCOUGH and gone back to Alcatraz? Or are they waiting in the wings to go back to the barracks like some have speculated here?

Capcom said...

OOOh, Dolenore, good point about the white light in Smokey!

The phrase "wining hearts and minds" is also a phrase used in military psychologic ops. More like something Sayid or Kelvin would use, but was apropos to what Sawyer needed to accomplish.

True TBP about Smokey being on some kind of track. Also, if Smokey has some kind of electrical source the fence might bug it out as well.

True also Memphish, is Locke being manipulated once again or has he finally found a place where he really fits in? Only the Shadow knows for sure.

Unknown said...

chucklez - Close. Hawkman!

memphish said...

Larry Bird after Billy Dee would be sweet. And the Losties could use a little Magic too now that the Razzle Dazzle is dead. Did everyone catch that. Hurley says over and over that the bleep twins are dead. In case you missed it while you were behind the grassy knoll they're dead. Really. Dead.

Black Swan said...

When did Juliet learn self-defense (when she flipped Kate right at the beginning)? And Juliet said her shoulder's been popped out 4 times (during self-defense practice, maybe)?

Anonymous said...

TBP: i was actually hoping for harvey birdman: attorney-at-law. hahaha.

memphish said...

Codysmom, maybe mousey post-divorce Juliet went to self-defense classes to work on her self-esteem.

Tim said...

Smokey is definitely my favorite lost mystery.

Unknown said...

codysmom - Maybe we'll see Nestor Carbonell teaching Juliet some boot-to-the-head next week.

"I don't know you!" ::KICK TO THE CROTCH::

Anonymous said...

what if "HIM" is actually Alvar. all this "Mittelwerk took over and perverted my work" was all fake. and Mittelwerk is actually the good guy and Rachel is simply an extension of Alvar, setting us (the real losties) up?

hahaha

Anonymous said...

"boot to the head" ........for those that have heard of Dr. Demento........."TAE-KWON-LEAP"!!! hahaha

Capcom said...

Bookpolice, was that a reference to 'King of the Hill' when Bobby went on a crotch-kicking spree after taking a women's self defense course? :o)

Anonymous said...

*singing*........."fish heads, fish heads, roley poley fish heads.....

okay, that's it for me.

i've had a rough week to go along with my screwed up 2.5 months. it's late and i'm working tomorrow (14 days straight now----10 hours per). ugh!

Unknown said...

"Listen shrimp, now are you gonna show me some fancy moves, or am I gonna start wiping the walls with you?"

Capcom said...

Chuck, even if the TWM take-over of HF happened before the Losties landed on Other Island, the Others (Tom in particular, who quotes AH to the original A-Team) might still be enamoured of him and still call him, Him.

That would be weird if they were still worshipping a guy who was trapped in his own house adn they thought that he was still in charge and saving the world.

memphish said...

Glad you stopped in Chucklez!

Anonymous said...

good night everyone.

talk to you later. email me if you have ideas or want to hear anything i have to say (in case i don't get on here right-away).

thanks,

Unknown said...

capcom - Yes!

memphish said...

Capcom and Chuck, I like that idea. It's got a neat twist to it. We're serving someone that's been overthrown. All of this is in vain. I wouldn't be surprised if it does turn out that whatever the Others are up to is in vain. It would fit in with Locke's track record.

Anonymous said...

TBP: hahahahaha!!! i love that!! that ED GRUBERMAN!!!

memphish said...

EF, are you referring to Sara Shephard or are you Sara?

Capcom said...

But it won't work on Mom, Bookpolice. :-D

Capcom said...

You've got a point there Memphish, another one of Locke's misguided father-figure worshiping jags!

Anonymous said...

capcom: was totally messin around, but you never know!!!

and when will we find out about the damn four-toed statue???

Black Swan said...

Locke, "I was wrong" ... again?

Anonymous said...

and again..........goodnight.

memphish said...

Not to mention Penny. I never thought the ice scene at the end of Season 2 was going to take so long to pay off.

Unknown said...

capcom - Avril Lavigne might disagree.

Back on topic...I'm really eager to see what it's like to get to the Island intentionally next week.

Capcom said...

BTW, that "Fish Heads" song was recorded by Billy Mumy of original Will Robinson fame. Love that. Loved Will Robinson too. :-X

Black Swan said...

This show is all about waiting for the pay-off

memphish said...

EF, you like Charlie more than Hurley? Come on dude.

Jack is actually my favorite, but right now he's on my s*** list because of Juliet. He is acting like a putz and I'm hoping Room 23 is the actual explanation for it though I doubt it. Hopefully Sayid will fix it for me.

Black Swan said...

Hurley, of course is #1, Jack used to be right up there, but not so much this season, Sayid's looking better and better

Capcom said...

Too funny Book! Talk about a useless attack move. :o)

Right, can a castaway actually be happy to get back to no-showers-and-toilets-island-living? Makes a good case for "things could always be worse"....I would vote to take over Otherton.

But, knowing our Lostaways, Jack, Kate and Sayid probably won't even tell the other Losties that there is a Motel on the island.

memphish said...

Alcatraz Jack was pretty kick butt if you asked me. Since he sprung Kate and Sawyer, all the fight's gone out of him though. Guess Jack broke Kate's heart back a little bit tonight.

Black Swan said...

Question: what kind of masks are the Others putting on before they leave (as seen by Kate looking out the window)? They look like gas masks to me, or maybe snorkle masks?

memphish said...

They should move to the Motel Others. Hope it's not like the Roach Motel. Smokey could only take out one or two during the move right?

Capcom said...

I'm liking Jack less and less the more we know about him. I used to think that he was stoic and heroic. But he's too whiney and crabby for my taste. Mean and crabby like Sawyer is OK, whiney and crabby creates a necessity for 'beer-goggles' for me. :o)

Black Swan said...

capcom said...
But, knowing our Lostaways, Jack, Kate and Sayid probably won't even tell the other Losties that there is a Motel on the island.

LOL!!

memphish said...

Codysmom, looked like gas masks to me too. I'm sure we'll get a gas canister screencap tomorrow.

memphish said...

Capcom, you are on a LOL roll.

Unknown said...

There's a solid guess on the swan/vulture debate on Lostpedia under The Blue Danube/Theories. I didn't put it there. Folks can go there; it's spoiler-free.

I'm beginning to wonder if Juliet's not going to turn out to be "good" for a long time. Deep cover, if you will. She's shown a willingness to kill her own people. She's gonna be a mole of the highest order--gonna do a lot of things that help the Losties, but still serve the ends of the Others.

That dynamic is going to pay off bigtime.

Capcom said...

Codysmom, that's a good question. Did they need the masks for something other than throwing the canisters into rooms that they weren't even going into??? Kind of weird. Perhaps they dropped canisters behind them as they ran into the tunnels to make sure that no one could follow them?

At any rate, I think that the tunnels got some invisible story time tonight. The Others certainly aren't going to run into the jungle with Smokey right outside the gates!

Black Swan said...

IMO, Juliet is not scared of smokey or not as good an actor as Kate

memphish said...

So the title referred to Juliet being "Left Behind" ostensibly, but actually she wasn't. She was dumped in the jungle with Kate to make for Thelma and Louise, but they hate each other and there's no Brad Pitt.

What if Kate hadn't wanted to go back for Jack? Why didn't Juliet tell her Jack's not there?

Cause Kate's emotionally invested in Jack. Duh. Answered my own question. As someone said earlier, that was the important part of Expose.

Juliet has a long way to go to equal Ben. Will she at some point this season try to out-con the Master? I hope she fails miserably. I missed Ben this week. Wonder how they got him in his wheelchair and his Craft-o-Matic bed wherever they're headed.

Unknown said...

codysmom - My first thought was that the gas masks had something to do with interacting safely with Smokey. Since the cannisters were thrown into the cabanas, and the throwers were outdoors, did they really need them? The true reason may not have revealed itself yet.

Black Swan said...

I was thinking maybe they're snorkle masks and they'd be going out to the not-blown-up sub that John submerged:)

Unknown said...

It's time for bed here in beautiful suburban Madison. Good luck with the theorizing, kids!

JGZ350 said...

Good Evening Locos-

Wow, smokey was in rare form tonight. We also found out that their is a kink in smokey's armor. He doesn't like the sonic fence. Now smokey comes with his own light show? I have to agree with someone who said smokey is their favorite mystery of Lost.

Thanks to one and all for the early bday wishes. I tried to stop counting after 40, but when LOST started with the infamous numbers, now I can't stop counting!

memphish said...

TBP, good idea about gas masks and Smokey. There've been lots of theories about the shots Desmond took and Smokey as well. Maybe that plays a role.

Yakobus1, I like your idea about the flashes. I wish Kate and Juliet would compare notes, but I don't see any hair braiding heart to hearts coming up between the two of them. Kate could braid Sawyer's hair now. Please Claire, cut his hair.

Capcom said...

Good point Book, it may take a while for Jules' duplicity to be pulled out (knowing this show, not till season 4!). But, what if the Others really don't need to know anymore about the Lostaways? Each group knows that the other group is there now. The Others probably know all they need to know about the Losties. What could Jules spy on them for now? That is a real question I'm asking, not a debate. Is there a reason for Jules to spy? Or is she just expendable now? I really don't know what to think.

Capcom said...

Memphish, isn't there two Brads? Jack and Sawyer??? :o)

memphish said...

I don't understand the question Capcom. I've been missing a lot the references tonight. Do you mean Rocky Horror?

As for Juliet. I think she's there to keep the Losties in place pinned down safely on their beach so the Others can resume normal programming, so to speak. I do think the appearance of Locke, Juliet and Kate surprised Ben.

I wonder where Danielle is.

JGZ350 said...

Did anyone see the new promo pic of our Losties over at DarkUfo's website? Talk about some bad photoshopping. Also, what is up with 9 dudes and only 4 women as main characters?

Note to Damon and Carlton:
Please add some more 'eye candy' for the guys.

Capcom said...

Right about Smokey Yakobus...good/bad/good/bad/good...BOOM! Sort of like "my daughter, my sister", that someone likes to say here. Is that you Memphish? :o)

And yes, if Claire can cut her bangs with such precision, let's get Jamesie a hair cut as well.

No, I mean two Brad Pitts for Kate and Thelma. Haha. Wow, I haven't thought of that movie in ages!

Black Swan said...

Happy birthday, jgz
and Happy birthday, Maven! I know you'll be on later...

Kate does what she thinks her mom wants (got that wrong) Kate does what she thinks Jack wants (got that wrong, too)

memphish said...

Yeah JGZ, That picture is the even worse than the last one they photoshopped with the same pictures of Ben and Juliet.

I'm reading a book right now with a philandering husband and I realized that's the one thing we're missing in our Losties at this point. I thought before The Hunting Party Jack was going to serve that role, but no.

DiggityDirge said...

Hey All,

Just finished watching for the first time and need to catch up on comments. Here's a few observations:

1. Smokey: Pretty cool. As many people speculated the fence is there to keep smokey and toher bad things out, vs people. Another secuirty system. What was up with the bright light on Juliett in the tress. It reminded me of flashes from a camera.

2. Juliett is the plant. Juliett ws in on the gassing. if you watch the scene where Kate can see everyone getting ready to gas, a girl in Juliett's exact outfit has a gas mask on and her hair in a pony tail. She was also so tough to beat down Kate early in the epi, and then she just let Kate beat her up later. Juliett has been, and will continue to be, a plant.

3. Interesting way to dispose of Jack.

4. Where the hell is Rousseau? Could we all be wrong and she is going to report to the Losties where the others have moved to?

5. John "the con" Locke: Continues to be conned by the others. Thanks for putting in a good word for Kate you moron.

Yeah Codysmom, poor Kate. She shows such bad judgement. I still find it hard to believe that's the real reason Kate blew up Wayne. It just doesn't work for me, but I know that mostly male minds shape the show and they are hampered by that.

Kate and Jack continue to avoid talking about what they both think/feel/want to talk about. They are so passive agressive with each other. Makes me want to slap them both.

Capcom, sorry for being so dense. I'm sorry but Sawyer and Jack hold no candle to the Thelma and Louise era Brad Pitt.

You are all wrong about the feathers bit.

We will find out that it is indeed the Hurley bird and in fact the Hurley bird is The MArtian MAnhunter.
Duh Duh Duuuuhhhhh!

Jack is a so stupid! Juliet is a plant! A big fat stinking plant! And I hope Sayid takes her out. Torture! Bring on the Torture! Can you tell I don't like Juliet?

So you are staring to belive my Juliett theory eh Memphish?

memphish said...

It was mighty convenient that the on/off switch for the fence was where the ladies ended up. I'm assuming there are several of those. Shouldn't they have been on Sayid's map?

Okay, I'm nitpicking.

But here's a real question. The fence was off when Juliet and Kate arrived. Juliet turned it on to stop Smokey. So the default is to have the fence off? They were willing to risk allowing Smokey in in the however many hours it took Kate and Juliet to reach the fence? It seems in this episode that Smokey is being manipulated by the Others, but that doesn't explain why they haven't used it more effectively all along.

I wonder if there were whispers when Smokey was there like there was back in The Pilot.

Welp, Jack and James iz all we got. :o)

Wow, that promo pic is terrible, they must hose down their pants and shove them in front of the chroma-screen. Funny.

Codysmom, jump on the Lost book writing bandwagon and write a book called "Lost And The Zen Of 'Got That Wrong'".

Yes, where the heck is Danielle?

memphish said...

Diggity, you'll have to remind me of the full theory. Was it that the branding equalled full acceptance? I've never liked her and I like her less and less and less. She's the Ana LuLu of Season 3 in my book.

Alright... I am starting to believe the people who said there are two Smokeys.

Locke described Smokey as a bright light that was beautiful. Everyone else sees a black smoke cloud.

I think Juliet has the same communion
with the island that Locke has. She's been inside the perimeter fence the entire time though, so she's never had the occasion to find out.

Smokey likes her, just like it likes Locke... and was trying to defend her from Kate after she dislocated her shoulder perhaps?

I dunno, Locke getting dragged into that hole didn't look so beautiful to me. I think there is one smoke monster, just two distinct sounds. The data processing sound (sounds like a taxi printer) and the attack sound. (chains, loud whistle/horn, earhquake noises)

I've only got a few more minutes before I fall asleep into the keyboard.

Capcom said...

Right Memphish, and if that is the case that the fence's default mode is off, did They know that the A-Team was on it's way (most likely due to the Flame blowing up, or Bea calling them at their arrival) and they turned it on?? Hmmmm.

memphish said...

We've been getting a lot of information this year that the Others are not the omnipotent, perfect beings they've seemed in the past to be, but the inconsistencies seem to be piling up. How they didn't know that the fence had been breached is one of those. Maybe there really are factions within the group that are trying to add to the "That didn't Work So Well" list.

Capcom said...

Roger that, I'm hitting the sack as well.

Thanks everyone for the help and ideas on decifering this ep! :o)

Absolutely, and she has been from the beginning. All the way back to the scene we saw in the pearl last week. Ben has had her in on the con since the very beginning, and she continues to play a key role. Ben knows he can use Juliett against Jack.

memphish said...

Capcom, are you an astronaut? You've said "Roger that" twice today.

Night all.

memphish said...

One more thing, at least. This is why Jack is so annoying me. Ben told Jack he was using Juliet to get to him way back in the fall. Why can't Jack see that is still happening. Wake up Jack!

memphish said...

I think TPTB have definitely been trying to alienate the viewers from "hero" Jack. In his first Season 3 FB he's a stalker, in the second he's a guy in Thailand sleeping with (well you pick your own word) and then he makes her give him a tattoo. Now he's mad at Kate for wanting to rescue him (and yeah the Skex) and won't see that Juliet and Ben are using him even though they told him they were.

I'm rooting for Hate at this point. Hurley and Kate. Come on. It's a classic desert island scenario.

All right. One last post to test the new avi and say good night.

Just popping in to mark my place and scat to catch up on comments!

This was a fun episode too. Ya gotta love Lost!

Black Swan said...

memphish, we could be mad at Kate for screwing up Jack's plan, instead of being mad at Jack.

But, since he's being so easily sucked in by PLANT Juliet, I guess we'll just have to at least think he's STUPID.

Could be interesting when Sawyer is all voted for leader now, then Jack is back. hmmmm

Hopefully the beachies won't fall for Juliet's LIES... The thing that gets me about her is she not only lies, she uses a technique of personal attacks on the person who's asking her something she doesn't like or want to answer. She also changes the subject instead of answering questions. I hate that! When my brother does that, I won't talk to him (Kate finally wouldn't talk to Juliet anymore, too, but it still gets to you).

Great comments, one and all. Great to see Thrasher again. Ah, I too think fondly of TLE. (Matt the Pale we miss you!)

Happy Bday to Jgz and Maven!
(I had to laugh at the "stop counting" comments. My mom always used to threaten me with not seeing my next bday,...j/k of course, but I did have a smart mouth as a kid...so I am always loud and proud about each bday I reach 'cause I know it's a real accomplishment to live so long!) LOL

anyway, here's my take on Left Behind:

1. No way am I going to run through a jungle, fall in mud, and then leave New Otherton without a hot shower! What are these gals thinking?

LOL, you are right, Capcom, they probably won't tell anyone about the Motel 6 on the Island. I guess either Jack, Kate, and Sayid don't believe the Others are gone for good, or they hate the place that much (unlikely) that they want to get as far away as possible. Let's see, Motel 6 or Gilligan's Island? ....Hmmmm....

2. I think Juliet was left behind because she is a PLANT! She was not gassed, and she shackled herself to Kate in the jungle to try to manipulate Kate into feeling a kindred plight with her. She says as much herself! Part of this con involved my next point:

3. This was an opportune moment for the Others to find out more about Smokey. They left the fence off so Smokey could get inside the perimeter. They must have counted on Smokey to be attracted to Kate, and it was no coincidence that the ladies ran to the fence where a shutoff was. Juliet had a key with her just in case Smokey got too close (or she killed Kate in a fight).

4. And now Juliet is Ben's eyes and ears on the beach. Like Ivanka Trump, only less groomed. And not as well paid. Sayid is right not to trust her, but Ben must have known that Jack would not leave her behind. Even if she is a plant.

Amused2bHere said...

oh, and one more thing:
Codysmom, I agree. Kate got it wrong again! She never thought that her mom would not want her to save her, and she never thought Jack would not really want her to come back. She never apologized to mom (maybe that is why she went to see her in the hospital, to say sorry before mom died?), mom called for help before Kate could say anything. But she did apologize to Jack for screwing up his plans to escape. I got to admit, it never dawned on me to blame Kate for Locke being there to blow up the sub. Hmmm...Locke is certainly responsible for his actions and choices, but if it hadn't been for Kate's insistence on going back for Jack they might have left the beach a day or two later. Jack would have been gone by then.

So it is her fault. Super Kate has met her kryptonite? wow.

I vote Hurley for Ship's Counselor!

I think Sawyer will be relieved/annoyed at Jack's return. He may feel compelled to revert to badboy mode again. I hope Hurley is there to kick his butt back to niceness again.

doesn't she just look creepy? She and Ben are a matched set!

Could their "history" be they were twins separated at birth?

nah.

Happy Birthday Maven!

so...what did you think of the episode?...and Happy Passover to you and yours!

maven said...

Hey, amused! Thanks! Like your new avatar. (Everyone comes up with such great ones after each episode...I just stick with my cat! LOL)

Some thoughts before I, too, nod off:
Betrayal seems to be the theme here...Cassidy betrayed by Sawyer; Kate betraying her mom and Jack; John betraying Kate and leaving with the Others; even Hurley betraying Sawyer by getting him to act nice to the become the leader.

OMG: Gas for $1.32 in Iowa! LOL

Kate asking Locke if he's brainwashed since she's seen Room 23.

Funniest Sawyer line: "Ain't going to get the Korean vote."

Most profound line: Kate: "Welcome to the wonderful world of not knowing what the hell is going on!"

Smokey: WOW! That fence seemed to make it very frustrated. But you guys pointed out why it couldn't just go over the fence? Good question!

Juliette definitely a plant. Mentions Ben's mind games again.

Juliette dislocated her shoulder 4 times! Maybe when she was learning self-defense.

Thanks to all for the Birthday wishes!

I guess we settled once and for all who Hurley has conned...Sawyer!

LOL

gonna go comatose now...nighty night

memphish said...

Morning LoCos! It must have been a good episode last night because I've been awake since around 4 am CDT thinking about it.

Codysmom said, Could be interesting when Sawyer is all voted for leader now, then Jack is back. hmmmm But neither of them want to be the leader. Will it be a race to the bottom? I elect Hurley!

More later. Trying to sort it out. Like Chucklez last night, I'm glad it's at least not some time travel/magic box thing. It's just Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, and Others are Evil. LOL.

Tall Guy said...

A slightly below par episode compared to recent ones. Dull flashback. Did enjoy the Sawer subplot though and found myself cringing through the Clare/Aaron scene. Talk about socially awkward. Very funny though. Is it me or is Hurley showing signs of real leadership potential himself?

memphish said...

Tall Guy, I just heard Hurley described as the Island Karl Rove, but without the dancing (as of yet.) Pretty good description. Hurley is the puppet master.

memphish said...

I wonder if Juliet will reveal to Jack and Claire that they are siblings.

Amused2bHere said...

oooooooh, Memphish, that is a possibility we had not considered! Now that Juliet is going to the beach, lots of little bits of info can just be unveiled...wow.

Better than a collection of Dharma manuals in the Flame: Juliet, and her super powers of recall!

I loved the promo for next week....! and that's all I'll say about that...lol

memphish said...

Have I misjudged Jack and it turns out he knows Juliet is a plant and he's keeping tabs on her? Better that we know where she is instead of running loose.

And speaking of running loose. Danielle and Karl are still out there as free radicals.

Amused2bHere said...

and btw, Memephish, I love your new avatar!

Juliet is a plant!

memphish said...

Yes, Amusedtobehere. I just couldn't help myself. In fact she's deadly hemlock.

Amused2bHere said...

Maybe...Jack is another plant by the Others, now that one of his Losties has betrayed him and blown up his only chance to go home (Locke) and another has broken his heart (Kate).

Maybe he's in on it with Juliet.

uh oh. Things could get messy

memphish said...

But Jack told Kate he'd come back for her which is still very much standard noble Jack practice.

memphish said...

I wonder if Locke has told the Others about Rousseau.

But that was before the Sub blew up. Before the final betrayal. Jack must have been sooooooo upset. Easy for Ben to manipulate. Or for Juliet to manipulate.

Who says he was really unconscious the whole time K&Ju were rumbling in the jungle?

Amused2bHere said...

I wonder if Alex has asked Ben what Sayid meant about her mom?
