Tonight, Hurley tries to persuade Jack to accompany him on an unspecified mission while Jin runs into an old friend.

Im REaddddddy!!!
Ah, Jackface.
Melissa, do they have proxy servers blocked? If not you can link to anything through a good proxy :)
Amy I don't look at the pic on the front page. :)
Melissa-just put it on cruise control for us, and rela x.
Hee, hee, Ded - not sure if they do or not, but I was warned that "Big Brother" is watching. I'm not taking a chance for now!
Lol, TAV
Right ML, remember that our old friend DarkAngel almost lost his job for doing that at work.
whew... better late than never! wow, weird about the appendix operation!
Hellllloo Jacob.
Enjoy everyone.
I'm starting off good my recording messed up.
So is Hurley really Jacob's replacement?
Jack does seem to have the Desmond - 'haven't I done this before' vibe going doesn't he?
Maybe.... hurley could be completely underrated!
Bet David is listening to drive shaft!
Was 'Mrs. Shephard' in that picture they showed?
haha TOL gotta live DS
lol crib notes on his arm.
Hurley, the next Ben? lists lists lists
Apparently whoever it is (mom) they must be divorced (re once a month)..... go hurley! Way to tell him!
I love it when Hurley's sneaky.
I love Hurley.
I dont think anyone doesnt like Hurley hah
LOL Hurley.
Jack's kid sure has some Daddy issues.
So, if Jacob is like obi wan, he wanted to be dead, is more powerful now?
email...:)
xxoo
David is MIB.
Who do you think Jacob is referring to coming to the Island...Des?
TOL-- I thought the same thing about David listening to DS!
Awe, Hurley needs to be the leader of the Others - they'd be so much nicer if Hurley was in charge.
Beckky his son.
i wonder who the mom is? why would claire kill jin?
heres where we learn about claire!
I kind of like Scary-Claire.
Whoa...Clusseau's been out there for 3 years?
And with Christian and "her friend"?
Wasn't Libby's husband also named David? And Hurley's friend Dave . . .they really like the name David on this show.
MIB = friend?
Could candidate #1 be coming?
Hurley's dads name is David too.
oh-funny- the inhaler!
OMG clusseau? LOLOL
Okay, this is one of those little forays where they catch up people who aren't obsessed, I guess.
oh no he ran away!!!
Was David Jack's grandfathers name?
He's a musician. . .like Faraday. . .and Charlie. . .do you suppose HE programmed the hatch?
Is MIB Claires friend- maybe AmyLynn.
I like cleaussau too!
Shannon! ;-)
What if these skeletons are us? Wow. What if they are?
There's your broken theory!!! ;-)
Hey! Broken!!!
I haven't read any of the above posts,,But.. i need to know.. if ABC aired a " flip version of last weeks episode tonite,, Why?.. Cuz My local affiliate is airing an Hour Long commercial for FORD interspersed with even more commercials...in place of the expected flip episode...Of course a missive with words like.. insulting..wrong,,stupid,,wrong...etc were used liberally in the note..that has been forwarded to their program director... I can't wait to see what this local affiliate does for the rest of the season...
MEL
Kate's life expectancy just went down a bit.
Ouch.
lost 2010- good idea about the music....
claire....wow.....saw that ax coming, but wish I didn't!
Dunno.... claire seemed to take it out on the other anyway... but you may be right, Kate's good will mission may be her undoing!
yes MEL they did the POP up of last week.
How is it that even though it's been ages since I thought Jack and Juliet made a nice couple - I keep hoping that she's David's mom - just so we can see her again.
You and me trecking thorough the jungle doing something we don;t quite uynderstand.....good times :D
Did anyone see comic con where they used the inhaler as an example of an inane question they would not answer? lol
who saw shannon i didnt see her?
nope kat, just the inhaler and mention of her...sorry!
lost2010
Ithought of Faraday too.
omg Dogen!
Oh wow! Those names again!
I think Jack wants to go join up with Sawyer and Locke about now. LOL
Well Jack hasn't changed much. I wonder who 108 is? I guess they won't be coming to the island now.
Jack you F'N idiot... I somehow know that was a very very very very bad idea... just a gut feeling
Can we get some screenshots of that wheel? WOW =D
God damn fricking Jack ass!
So who was at 108 degrees?
David?
Anyone think Des is number 108?
Well, I wonder who 108 would have shown them? Walt? Isn't he about the only one that didn't come back yet?
Melissa
Maybe. He's the only one not on the island and Hawking said it wasn't done with him.
Woah! Dogen! Did NOT see that coming!
More mirrors MEL!
So... Jacob viewed the candidates lives from the mirror.....oooorrrr did MIB???/ and Jacob ratted him out?
Wow....where did the language come from folks?
Kate is 108 ;-)
ML -- I was thinking Des, too!
So 360 degrees should mean 360 possible names...and Kate is not 108.
Ob... I know, I know... she's likely not.... just thought I'd throw it in with a smile.
There goes that theory. ;)
Jack is an idiot.
Maybe Jacob wanted it broken so that MIB couldn't use it.
maybe.
WHOA
Jin, Jin...Jin....oh my.... MIB....oh my.....
MIB is her friend. whoever said that was right...
Whaaaaatttttt????
Say hello to my litte friend.
So, MIB, Claire, and maybe Sawyer are going to go all Anakin on the Temple Others? That's scary.
Sweet, called the MIB friend :D It seemed logical.
Emilie is awesome.
Has MIB been Flocke for 3 years or has Clusseau seen him as his Smkoey self too?
I am 50/50 on who's mirror that was...the rest I can't even theorize about.... its too much.... too much... Emily De Ravin as Clusseau....wow. I'm as impressed with her as Flocke....wow. Freaky!
I am so glad they finally gave her something to do! She is pretty great.
There are two Shephard siblings. . .one is light and one is dark.
How awesome is that!
Ob- good question!
Jack of hearts!
It's going to be the new Wild Bunch
Vs.the Temple Others.
It sure is a good thing Jin learned English.
that is pretty cool Lost2010
Wow! What an episode! I'm awestruck!
So Jack doesn't know how long his son has been playing? Is SideWays World fantasy to Crash time or is Shephard Jnr the source of the problem (what whas the 'doctor's appointment on the answering machine).
Who do we think is coming to the island?
Widmore is the "obvious" answer... but I'd bet it's not right?
I believe the Dr. on the answering machine was the person at the Conservatory who was giving David the audition.
great show !! wow, it just ended here on the east and your up to almost a hundred comments ? No wonder I can't keep up here. :-(
Going to go back now and RW the lighthouse/gear/mirror scenes.
Some more "obvious" surreal elements in this ep -- Alice in Wonderland, Hurley convo with Jack about the Lighthouse "I guess we weren't looking for it."
Flocke/MIB must know that Aaron isn't on the Island, that Jin is now lying?
So, I love how the episode description was totally inaccurate! Sawyer wasn't even in this episode!
Ob- I agree that Flocke/MIB must know about kate- but it serves his purpose to lie to claire and use her anger against the others...
Anyone think the lighthouse is a parrallel to the radio tower?
Ob
I caaught that too I guess we weren't looking for.
I'm confused why Claire thinks the Others have Aaron. When Locke saw her in the cabin, she said that Aaron was where he needed to be. When did she forget that she abandoned him?
Lostit
I think Christain in the cabin was MIB and has been lying to her since then. I'm assuming it has something to do with being claimed that she doesn't remember.
I wonder if since Dharma had a 'Lighthouse' station and now we've seen an actual lighthouse.
I wonder if there are other paralells?
The Swan. . .the Pearl. . .etc.
I am going to sleep with the light on tonight.
SupercalifraiLOSTicexpialidicious.
As evidence for a before or after iteration- Jack not drinking and working things out with his son re the "not good enough stuff"- that points to after.
I wonder if Jacob's real goal is to sink the island? I always wondered about the Black Rock coming there with mining equipment- thought that someone wanted to drill down to the pocket of energy- and since Jacob brought the ship- maybe it was him.
Lostit- good memory --- (always better than mine)---but I'd say its all manipulation and second SG....who and why and what... dunno, but it was all calculated!
I too have to start winding down.... otherwise it'll be 2am and I'll still be thinking too hard!
JT - I agree. The FS is after. I think the last episode will show us how island timeline wraps around and becomes the FS timeline.
What if Jacob drilled down and accidentally freed the entity that is the MIB and ever since then he's been having to try and control him? That would be creepy.
SG and TOL,
yeah, that makes sense. MIB convinced her to leave Aaron behind and as she succumbed more to "the sickness", MIB was able to convince her that the Others took him.
with the similarities between Claires' "sick" behavior and Danielle's behavior, was Danielle also claimed? It didn't seem like it towards the end of her life. Once she found Alex, she seemed to become almost normal.
Maybe MIB used her story to mold Claire?
They've said that the FS is not after. It's 9/24/04 in the FS.
@melissa, where did you get the Sawyer idea from? The official teaser says:
Hurley must convince Jack to accompany him on an unspecified mission, and Jin stumbles across an old friend.
Good ol' Jacob, I like him more and more. So he's not out of the picture as long as Hurley is around. I wonder what it is that Jack has to do. And my vote for who is coming is... Walt.
So, Jack's son looks to be how old? About 12 or 13? So what was happening to Jack in the old timeline 12 to 13 years ago?
His life goes to the same place - he ends up in Australia picking up his dad's body - but he has this son. So that's a fairly significant deviation.
The Dharma station where Jack and Desmond met Eloise was called the Lamp Post, not the Lighthouse.
Yes Amy L- but we're thinking each iteration contains a 9/22/04. I think of them as a series of tabs along the bottom of the screen lined up one after another. Within each tab you can open to see its whole timeline.
So, trying to see if the f /side is to the left( or before) or if it is to the right- (or after)- our "island time".
Fairly obvious, but both light houses and lamp posts shine light against darkness, to guide people/ships to safety.
The one where Charlotte and Dan shutdown the chemical attack was called the Lighthouse, I thought.
Wait... what did that promo mean? They're not showing an episode next week? Only snippets? What's goin on here?
Okay, it's starting to run together - good night guys! Great thoughts!
The station that Dan/Charlotte found was called the Tempest. FYI
Wow, neat episode. I really liked that lighthouse mechanism, too bad Jack had to screw it up, now we'll never see it work again. Well, I don't guess that we'll be getting any explanations about the freaky mirror-TV now that it's broken and its purpose is done.
If Widmore is the one on the way, I wonder why someone didn't use the lighthouse to guide him in before? Maybe Ben had someone guarding it to keep it from being turned to his name/degree. Or, since he was banished before they never wanted to turn it to his coordinates. ???
Heheh, I was thinking that too Lost2010 about yet another David...TPTB need a baby name dictionary for some variety. :o)
Where did I get the idea that there was a Dharma station called the Lighthouse? That must have been in some fanfiction story I read or something. LOL
@lost2010 that's the Tempest :) (Not that this show is confusing at ALL XD) Good call about Claire/Jack as light/dark - since we are suspicious that Jacob/Mib may be siblings. Or I am. Are the rest of us? lol.
It's lame that of everything that happened in that episode, I was most ":D D:" over the inhaler. They WERE taunting us at SDCC! I knew it! rofl.
Must process more but second I knew episode was called "lighthouse" I went straight to the Pharos of Alexandria. Darned if it didn't bear a resemblance to the most recent research on its shape. Of course, perhaps there's only one way to build an ancient-looking lighthouse. It's for SURE not Dharma, they were big on putting their logo on everything, as we well know ;3
Missed out entirely on discussion last week, hope to be more participatory now.
Will,
I don't think anyone is coming. It was a ruse Jacob used to get Jack out of the temple before MIB got there.
And the promo was just an abbreivated one. Next week's episode will be a complete episode, but they are refraining from giving us much in the way of a teaser about it. I hope that means that next week's episode will be packed with info.
Amy Lynn
They both shed light in darkness but I've never know a lamp post guide anyone. :)
Not being in the dark is safer than being in the dark though.
@Capcom don't ALL writers have baby name dictionaries? I do. And browser bookmarks. Hah.
Might do my rewatch tonight, first ep of the new season I've gotten through in one sitting - no phone, no dog going in/out! Want to catch the Japanese this time - a bit fast, think I heard something about destiny.
FWIW, I really think that it was crummy to put Jack breaking the mirror in the after-show preview last week, how could ya not know exactly what was going to happen as soon as they got to the top inside? Stupid ABC. :-p
@Sayid'sGirl the lamp post in Narnia is how they found their way out again. Isn't it?
I really like that they are trying to tackle three storylines per episode, but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the island timmeline. Wouldn't Jack have known that Jin never made it back to the temple?
@Mel/MUNGONNA-
I know about ABC15 tonite. Isn't that ridiculous?! I am so mad. I also contacted ABC 15 and plan on contacting Southwest Ford and Mercury dealer.com (or something like that) to complain. They better not do this every week or I'm gonna be REALLY pissed! I am going to encourage all my Phoenix area LOST fans to do the same. However, I think anyone could send an email to complain and they wouldn't know....hint hint. email: programming@abc15.com ;)
LOL Anne. :-D Interesting about the ancient lighthouse too. Please do let us know if you find out anything about the Japanese, tx!
Well, the lamp post in Narnia sort of guided the kids back to their wardrobe. ???
Oops, posts crossing in the night. :-B
Anne
Yes, you got a point. I guess it did guide or at least was a land mark.
capcom
Agreed about ABC promo.
Amy Lynn
I thought it was werid that Jack didn't say anything about Jin not being at the temple. Maybe he thought he was still on his way or he thought he missed him. I don't think he really cared at the time though.
We're all on a post-Lost high, right? XD Fast and furious! Should have the chance to try and catch it tonight, my Japanese is less than stellar but hey. Wish he didn't mutter so much lol.
Wow, I correctly recognized the symbol on the panel in the tunnel that Hurley was looking for. (Query - WHY did he have to go there first, and what did he do after Dogen left?)
It is the Shen Ring, or "shenu"; the extended version of it wraps around the name hieroglyphs in cartouches. It simultaneously represents eternity, and protection (which is why it often encloses something to which protection is being afforded).
This may be the one show/time where it was useful that I had a very nerdy childhood.
I just had a crazy idea. Maybe Jacob and the MIB are Aaron and David.
SG, I like it.
Anne, are you talking about the ring-ish symbol that also looked like the ouroborus?
If they had captioned the Japanese I could at least use my Jap-Am dictionary. :-B
Anne
I can't read hieroglyphs but maybe the writing told him how to get to the lighthouse. Athough I don't know why Jacob wouldn't just tell him.
Amy Lynn - the official description on TV Guide.com said Sawyer, and the description on Comcast's digital guide also said Sawyer, and said that Hurley and Jack were on a mission in LA.
I changed TLC after the episode aired, and I realized that it was inaccurate.
They must have meant to put Claire instead of Sawyer.
I never thought about it the first time but Claire tells Jin the one thing that will kill you around here is "infection."
@Capcom yep that one. I have a dictionary and all, but I just can't catch one section of the line. I'm not certain if I'm understanding without it . . . hmm. Will try a bit more then just post my best guess :P
@Sayid's Girl I'd have to check the other hieroglyphs, I can try. Though it's much harder to figure out compound words/phrases.
Also, why is Sawyer not with MIB anymore? Or did this episode happen before The Substitute in island time?
Screencaps from the Lighthouse list are up here:
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Wallace
At least you can do it without seeing it written in a caption Anne! :-D Hope you can get it.
I thought that it was pretty freaky to see Mrs. Hawking's pin on the wall there, sort of. Even if we know now that she was an islander, but we didn't know back then when she had the pin on. Can't wait to see a cap of that symbol. It looked a bit different, like there was a flat part to it, and not completely rounded.
Good question about where James is Amy. Hmmmm.
Anne
Thanks you don't need to. It was just an assumption. :)
That was a pretty close up shot of MIB maybe Sawyer's behind him. Or maybe he's still at the cave. Hard to tell.
Sayid'sgirl nah I like a good challenge XD; *compulsive* BTW I think the Aaron/David theory is a valid possibility.
Re: the Japanese. He's an amazing actor, but his samurai accent will be the death of me. Cannot catch end of a sentence, so this is best guess/imaginatively paraphrased, but what I think I heard makes sense in the context.
Hurley: I'm a Candidate and I can do what I want.
Dogen: Who told you that?!
Hurley: Doesn't matter.
Dogen (Japanese): I've been protecting you; but have "fate" if you like. Without me, you're going to lose that head.
DISCLAIMER I am entirely self-taught and only a few degrees above Babelfish in accuracy XD;
I saw that axe swing coming also.
The kitchen scene from The Shining flashed through my mind, as the moment approached.
I 've got to go watch a little Olympics, and then try to get some rest. It's about time for the next shift to arrive.Good night, faithful fans.
Night TAV
I slow - moed the promo for next week looks pretty interesting. Along with a few things I heard.
I know some of you don't watch promos so I won't say anything.
Got to get to bed night all.
The first set of hieroglyphs:
"Powerful gods"
2nd set:
"Lord for all time"
Not terribly enlightening, but there you have it. Very Temple-y. Though I don't get why there's a Buddha in the alcove outside.
Yes. Yes I do have too much free time.
austin number 51 still not crossed off, i called it...
there must be 360 candidates... things come full circle
jacob's mirrors had many images like when the smoke monster scanned eko.
the gears were worn but the chain was new.
campfire christain was mib and so was jacob's cabin christain, but who knows if what the other christain appearances were.
43 walt barnes, crossed off
Ok I just got to finish watching, I've been sulking....but I'm in a good, yet confused, mood now :)
Claire is freaking.me.out.
Gonna catch up before I say anything else.
barnes 17 crossed off so maybe mike or walk, unless walt is lloyd..
SG -- I caught Clusseau's, "If there's one thing that'll kill you around here, it's infection" too!
And later she says that she had to sew up her own wound after the Others shot her and says, "I'm lucky I'm still alive."
It seems Dogen/TempleOthers performed the same "diagnosing" test on Clusseau as they did with Sayid. She does say "They stuck me with needles. They branded me." But I think the needles part may have referred to Ethan. Clusseau's memory is seemingly a bit distorted -- if Justin is to believed.
Davis becoming MIB is a valid possibility, but if TPTB take this that direction they may have these 2 universes have a mobius strip like relationship with each other (causally).
Anne is spot on about the shen ring/shenu (a cartouche is basically an oblong/elongated shenu). A shen ring is a circle on a tangent line (representing a doubled rope, tied at the end, with the straightened ends forming the tangent line). It symbolize eternity, infinity. As a cartouche, you would see it encircling the names of pharaos. Any objects/sympbols contained within the cartouche were conferred with the eternal protection of the shenu (protected from the surrounding chaos).
As a glyph, I think it can be seen depicted on/attached to staffs that some gods hold -- to symbolize power and eternity.
But, the shen ring also represents time and it's duality as perceived by the ancient Egyptians. Time is both cyclical (seasons, tides, years) and also seemingly infinite, extending unending to the past and future.
re: Sawyer's location. I was wondering about that when MIB showed up at Claire's tent. He would also know that Kate left with Aaron, so hopefully he'll play along with Jin's story so they don't all get killed.
SG- the Aaron/David= Jacob/MIB theory blows my mind! wow...gotta think about that a bit.
Anne- self taught or not, I'm very impressed with your Japanese decoding skills! Keep 'em coming.
The whole thing with Claire I just can't get over. She was so creepy and I don't really know what to think of her demeanor/reaction when Jin starts to lie to her. She believes it, but is she lying to him?
re: the flash sideways- did anybody else immediately start analyzing Jack's cell phone when he was trying to reach David? In S4 Jack's cell phone was a clue to the fact that they were in a FF...so I was trying to see if the cell phone he had tonite was circa 2004 and I think it was. Which isn't that important, just reconfirming that the FS is in 2004.
I love the insertion of Shannon's inhaler after what they said at SDCC.
And who didn't see that axe coming?! Poor guy...that had to be slow and painful.
So I have no idea whose Team I'm on anymore- Team Jacob, Team MIB, Team Jack, Team Hurley...maybe it's safe to be on Team Desmond.
I just finished, too, and watching Olympic skating now....this episode definitely needs a re-watch...with "friends" like Flocke who needs enemies? LOL
Got a real kick out of Hurley this episode...lot's of shout-outs to us fans. When he wonders if Adam & Eve skeletons could be them, I got a good chuckle. And traipsing through the jungle doing something they quite don't understand. LOL
When Jack notices his scar and asks him Mother when he had his appendix out. She tells him when he was 7. Then why does Juliet take out his appendix on the island?
So, is it possible that Jack is the #1 Candidate? Jacob seems to imply that.
As usual, Kate doesn't even ask what happened to Claire?
Lighthouse was a great site. I'm sure that will be scrutinized again like the Cave list. So the numbers that get assigned to each Candidate relates to the degree that Jacob can see them in the mirror?
I know that Jin wants to get back safely to the Temple, but I don't get why he's lying to Claire. Christian took Aaron from her and seemed to convince her that Aaron needs to be where he needs to be. She seemed okay with that in the cabin scene. What drove her crazy....an infection?
I guess Flocke has now recruited Sawyer, Claire and Jin?
Need to let all this sink in...
@Anne: Also love the MIB=David and Jacob=Aaron...mindblower!
you know I was wondering about Claire's torture...true it looks like they tortured and branded her like they did Sayid. I know it wasn't really a "brand" but just some sort of test to see if she was "infected". Do you think that branding had any connection to the brand that Juliet had on her back? Juliet's had that definitive symbol, but I'm just wondering if there's a connection.
@SG: I thought of Juliet's brand when Claire mentioned hers. Looks like the hot poker mark, similar to what was used on Sayid.
Sorry, meant Scoutpost! ^^^^
Anne -- Wow, I correctly recognized the symbol on the panel in the tunnel that Hurley was looking for. (Query - WHY did he have to go there first, and what did he do after Dogen left?)
Since no one else can really see Jacob, he could have just gone "with" Hurley the entire way, but that would probably have attracted ore attention -- Hurley wandering around muttering to himself. ;)
My guess is that Jacob told Hurley to look for the shen ring glyph (but would have had to describe it since Hurley did not attend LOST U). Before Dogen showed up, it looked like Hurley was about to push on the stone block (with the shenu on it). Once Dogen left again, Hurley probably pushed on that block, opening the secret door out of that tunnel (the same way Richard pushed on a stone to open the chamber under the Statue.)
Maven -- Jin wants to find Sun. IMO, Jin is lying to Claire to protect himself, Sun and maybe Kate (Clusseau would freak and kill them if she knew the truth). I'm not sure how to interpret that scene in the Cabin, with Claire saying Aaron is where he needs to be, but remember how dazed she seemed then? Knowing what we do now about Claire's Claiming, that was probably the earliest stages (maybe even before someone got her to the Temple). The other possibility is that she was actually suffering the effects of her head injury and not yet Claimed (though just about to be).
Anne, Ob, thanks for the work on the translation and egyptian info.
Now we know why The Numbers are the numbers they are! AHHHHH---FINALLY!
@Ob: Yep, Jin is definitely trying to protect himself. After what she just did to Justin (gruesome), he'll tell Claire whatever she wants to hear!
@Ann: I forwarded your translation on twitter to Jeff Jensen. He was asking for one quickly! Gave you credit! :)
morning
Claire was excellent this episode. the infection line and your my friend right Jin gave me chills. if the infection can make claire a killer can you imagine the damage Sayid would do on the others.
i dont watch the previews so i didnt know they showed Jack breaking the mirrors. so when it happend all i could do was yell you jackass, all this time your looking for answers and you have a giant all seeing mirror in front of you do you not investigate a little before destroying it.
but i guess he wouldnt be Jack if he did that.
lastly - Hurley is the man, i laughed out loud when he was out of breath after walking up the lighthouse stairs..great episode for him.
Good morning LoCos.
Great episode last night.
Thanks to Anne and Ob for being our translators.
Jack and Dogen's conversation at the recital seemed important to me.
Some what prophetic. It reminded me of Jacob when he was talking about weaving the tapestry. It takes a long time when you make the thread yourself. I guess that's the point.
Dogen: "They are to young to have this kind of pressure aren't they?"
Jack: "Yes, yes they are."
Dogen: It's hard to watch and be unable to help." "Your son has a gift. "How long has he been playing?"
Jack: "I donn't know."
To me, and I usually view things strangely, if you put the words Dogen say to Jack at the recital into Dogen the temple master,
"They are to young to have this kind of pressure." it could be refering to the Losties. I think Dogen like Richard has been on the island for very long time.
"It's hard to watch and be unable to help." The Losties have to find their own way, to find their own importance.
We also have another child with a gift. I'm not sure where that leads.
The screencap Amy Lynn linked to shows #108 on the wheel as "Wallace" but crossed out. So maybe the instruction to turn to 108 by Jacob to Hurley was just to give Jack time to see the mirror and react.
http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Wallace
Is it just me or did Shepherd look larger and darker than the other names on the wheel? could it be covering a different name?
The Shen Ring reminds me of the circle of ash.
Sterling- yes I thought it was darker- and I thought it was to attract Jack's attention to it.
Anne- here is what they have at LP for the Japanese:
"You're lucky that I have to protect you. Otherwise I'd have cut your head off."
Does that sound likely?
Just one more- Claire being in the will may now lead Jack to her, and to Aaron, (and to Kate?).
The images Jack sees in the mirrors are his childhood home, an asian building or home and a church.
Could represent Jin/Sun or possibly Dogen, and the church looks like when they buried Sawyers parents.
My question is which version of our characters would be seen in the mirror?
Original Lostie or Lostie 2.0?
Maybe the mirror shows the point in time that the two split?
Or would Jack see his mirror image?
Another world on the other side of the looking glass?
I never paid attention to Shepherd but Jarrah was darker than Ford.
I'm not sure it means anything though. When Ms. Klugh gave Michael his list James Ford was lighter than the rest of the names on it. I had always thought it had been put on as an after thought. But it doesn't look like it.
I thought the Asian building was the temple. With Ford and Jarrah being next to each other it could have been something from Sayid's past, although it didn't look middle eastern. Good call on the church steeple being of Sawyer's past.
JT
I'd say that sounds pretty close to what Anne translated.
Good job Anne. :)
Hey LoCos. I enjoyed the episode last night, but was trying to reel things in a bit and not go post crazy.
2Costa - Walt's last name is Lloyd and Michael's last name is Dawson. Dawson was on the wheel and was crossed off. I haven't seen Lloyd yet, but I haven't gone looking for it either.
I think it's odd that this compass has only 360 degrees and therefore candidates, but the cave wall went beyond that. There was a number in the 700s on the cave wall.
It was also clear to me that we saw the place where Sun and Jin married and the Ford family church where the compass was not on the numbers corresponding to Kwan and Ford. It's a minor thing, but one of those annoyances that has me less than thrilled with the producers estimation of my intelligence lately. It also felt weird that Hurley didn't go looking for his name and to see what was on the mirror at his spot, but ok, I can live with that.
The breaking of the mirrors was obviously meant to parallel Jack's destruction of the coffin in White Rabbit. So the question now is will Jack have his life bringing epiphany on the cliff like he did with the life bringing discovery of the water.
I don't really understand all the Claire stuff. The fact that the Others took her to the Temple makes me think she didn't skip through time like our other LOSTies since Richard and his people who were with Locke at the end of Season 4 didn't skip through time. I guess Claire is "undead" like Kate's horse as they often joke on the OLP. She's not Smokey, but not Claire. So do you have to chop off her head to kill her like a zombie? Was that ax a hint?
I'm still not loving the sideways flashes, and especially Dogen's insertion into it. The lack of relationship to the Island story is still my biggest gripe, but at least this "flash" story linked strongly with the flashback in White Rabbit. I do find it hard to believe that Jack would be such a crap dad after having such a crap dad. I'm also dreading my son getting to age 13 after that. As for David's mother, it really could be anyone including the girlfriend that said Jack talked in is sleep. They would have had to meet way before he met Sarah in the original timeline, college or early med school, to produce a son that age.
Also, just because you have a certain # at the lighthouse, you might have a totally different number in the cave.
Good point re cave vs. lighthouse Amy Lynn except that we've seen them be the same for our main characters at least. It's a reasonable assumption that they would be the same, though certainly not a requirement.
Lostpedia (http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Candidate) is doing a good job keeping a list of the #'s we know so far, and the discrepancies between the lighthouse and cave.
I reckon Jin will come out of this okay. He's wearing his lucky boxers:
Love Pants
Hi memphsh
I think it's odd that this compass has only 360 degrees and therefore candidates, but the cave wall went beyond that. There was a number in the 700s on the cave wall.
Claire is either undead, dead or claimed. I'm not sure if there's that much differnce. lol
That's why I've always assumed she didn't flash.
I think the sideways flashes are suppose to link or mirror (which there has been one in every eposode so far but usually in the FS)the episodes in season one.
The two hour premier on the plane.
Tabula Rasa was Kate centric so was What Kate Does. The back stories are somewhat different however. Instead of going back for Ray she goes back for Claire.
Walkabout mirrors The Substitute
White Rabbit mirrors The Lighthouse.
Yeah David would have been born in the early '90s. Around the time of the purge. j/k don't throw things I know that's a sore spot. :)
maybe davis is the musician that designed "the looking glass station", he does love alice
sheppard on the compass of the lighthouse looked darker than the rest. It was also in different handwriting and all in caps. Maybe relates to tom's comment"sheppard isn't even on Jacob's list"
kate being number 51 and not crossed off throws the whole valanzetti thing off.
perhaps the brand signified you are no longer a candidate and claimed by smokey, there is no jacob to cross off sayid atm
looks like mike and ana lucia were candidates
2 barnes on the wheel seems to refute the family line thing
weird that there was a new chain in the lighthouse
i still think there have been other iterations of the timeline, jacob barely had time to cross off faraday off the list in island real time.
or it's possible that only active candidates time jump when the island is flashing. I think Sun may have messed up her candidacy for killing colleen in cold blood, becuase sawyer and hurley killed others too, but not in cold blood.
jacks mirroe images were very simuliar to smokeys images of eko.
there seemed to be 2 mirrors in the lighthouse, perhaps one is of the timeline they are in and the other is the sideways. Or one is if you are touched by jacob and one is not. Or one is if you are on the light side and one is if you are on the dark side.
I noticed that in the substitute the difference between regular locke and sideways locke is that sideways locke is a way better at lying. The original locke told randy about the walkabout before he went. Perhaps sideways locke was better ad hiding his obsession with his dad from helen.
Oh shoot. I quoted you memephish then didn't put in my thought. I had to many things in my head at once. lol
I think Hurley is more excepting than Jack it doesn't matter to him what he would see in the mirror.
Like Jacob said sometimes all you have to do is jump in the back of a taxi for people to know where to go sometime they have to sit on a cliff and look out at the ocean. That wasn't an exact quote of course.
I'm not possitive and I haven't looked at any screen caps yet. But in my rewatch it looked like Faraday was on the wheel near 109 and wasn't crossed off.
@SG, Faraday is 101, and crossed off.
