To get everyone ready for next week's LOST Season 5 Premiere (Woohoo!), ABC will be airing an encore performance of the LOST Season 4 Finale tonight, at 8/7c. The three-part episode "There's No Place Like Home" is also enhanced, which means there will be bits of trivia at the bottom of the screen explaining whats going on. There are usually some interesting nuggets to be found, based on previous enhanced episodes, so it a good chance to get caught up and learn something new.

I was watching Meet Kevin Johnson Monday night. Why did Ben have Michael sabotage the radio room and the freighter engine, but not the helicopter? Was he just getting sloppy like he did with Desmond's boat?
I'm not sure Ben knew the helicopter was on the freighter. Widmore sent Keamy but I don't think he had anything to do with the Charlotte,Dan and Miles. Abaddon hired Naomi to take them and Frank to the island.
But I guess that's what you mean by getting sloppy. He didn't know about Desmond's boat either.
I skipped the sneak peak. I really wanted to watch it. I know it was a Sayid and Hurley scene. But I'd rather watch in context. For those who watched it. Is it the same one that Dark posted at his site today? This is going to be a really long week.

You know the look on their (the O6) face when the island disappears is just priceless. I mean who ever expects a piece of land to just disappear?
I'm only at the Sun/Mr. Paik scene. Nothing earth shattering....
My favorite part of the island vanishing is when they are on the life raft and Hurley and Jack have an exchange about it being a miracle. It was priceless.
The S5 previews were pretty good and made we want to turn the wagon wheel and "move" my house to next Wednesday!

Ok- NEED HELP WITH THIS QUESTION
I have some friends who just took up LOST (there's actually a funny story behind it) and have been watching the DVD's since November. They're finishing Season 3 and have this question: When Charlie and Desmond set out to dive down to the Looking Glass to shut of the jamming signal, why didn't they just cut the cable to the Looking Glass that was on the beach? Wouldn't cutting power to it cut off the signal?
I think we talked about this back in the day, but I can't remember. Can anyone answer this off the top of their head? I guess I'll go see if I can look back at some discussion if I can.
Oh I forgot- last night I had a bit of a panic attack after going to bed. I was thinking about how excited I was for season 5, etc. when all of a sudden I realized that this time next year will be the beginning of the last season! That kind of freaked me out for a minute. To realize that, in a way, the end is close!
I know, I know, a real "Debbie Downer" moment, but I really just wanted to turn it into a cherish the moment, moment.

I hear ya Dennis, my station just kept putting up the dang call letters and such, we didn't even have any weather advisory needed.
I don't know if Ben merely got sloppy about the chopper and boat, it might just be that he can't conceive of everything that is going to occur in the fight, or every angle that will happen with the unexpected. Maybe that's supposed to be a point of so much of his frustration, i.e., that he has to think of, and take care of, everything for Jacob, and he just can't do it all by himself. ??? It is a very big job that he has, when you think about it.
It was awesome watching that FDW scene again, it's very powerful and thought provoking, to say the least. Wow.

But I know, sometimes I wonder how we're going to all stick together as online friends when Lost is over. We'll have to come up with some other format I guess. capcom- I know, trying not to be a downer. I kind of laugh at myself for having such a little panic attack. Yeah I think LOST has set the bar so high for me in regards to TV shows, that JJ better have some stuff on the back burner! Fringe will have to do until then. It comes back next week, too doesn't it? There are a couple of things I noticed in the pop-ups that I thought were worth mentioning:
1. At one part (Hurley's surprise party), the pop-up said that the whispers are heard on the island when "danger" is near, and then later another pop-up (when Alpert's gang ambushes Keamy's team) said that there are whispers when the Others are about to show up. One could infer that the Others are really dangerous for sure?
2. One of the pop-ups (I forget when) mention that Ben claims that Widmore staged the fake 815, and then it says that Widmore claims that Ben did it. I don't remember that Widmore ever made that claim - am I forgetting something?
So nice to have Lost back on TV!
I was bummed there were no Ajira ads. My local station fortunately ran all their stuff across the top of the screen - That must have been so maddening Dennis!!
I only got to watch half. I talked my husband into letting me watch up to the kiss if I'd turn over the t.v. for something he wanted to watch.
Anyway, one of the pop-ups answered one of my questions.
It said that the reason Lapidus couldn't find the freighter was that it moved while they were on the island. That the boat os 90something miles off coast when he left and had moved to 5 miles offcoast when they returned to it.
I remember wondering how close it was there at the end. If it's 5 miles off coast. Maybe (crossing fingers) the wreckage went whereever the island went and Jin can still make it to shore.
Hoping and hoping that Jin's alive. (crossed fingers)

Widmore didn't say Ben planted the wreckage personally. When Capt. Gault was tell Sayid and Desmond about the black box and the plane being found he was inferring that Ben was the one who planted it and that was one of the reasons Widmore was looking for him.

As for why they didn't just cut the cable to the Looking Glass. 1) They don't have anything that would cut cable that thick; 2) What's to say there isn't an alternative power source like battery backup; and 3) that's not how Desmond saw it.

That's what I got about the freckage last night, that Ben planted it and Widmore sent the freighter, and Gault/Widmore were trying to figure out how Ben did it. Or at least Gault in speaking for Widmore said that. But I could be totally wrong.

I have the enhanced finale on DVR - I just got my season 4 DVDs this week, and Mr. Mel and I are going to watch that entire season through before we check out that finale. I finally suckered him in! :)
Re-watching the first two season 4episodes last night, I was struck by how spacy Dan seems. He would NOT be instilling me with confidence as a rescuer, even before I knew I wasn't his "primary objective."
A co-worker and I were talking today and we were thinking that it would be fun between seasons 5 and 6 to rewatch all of the episodes, and write down ALL of the questions. Then, as each question get answered, we cross it off. That way, we'll go into season 6 with a complete list of unanswered questions, just to see how many are finally wrapped up!

They haven't really answered who planted the wreckage. Ben and Tom told Michael it was Widmore and Capt. Gault told Sayid and Desomond it was Ben. I haven't decided who really planted the wreckage.

There was a plane that had to crash land in the Hudson river they think due to a bird strke. There was water craft in the area that went to the plane to help. They haven't said but I think everyone is alright. They plane didn't submerge and the passengers got out on the wing. At first they said there were 23 passengers but are not sure now.
Wow! That's scary, but I've heard birds can cause a lot of problems for planes.
If it's true that they open the flood gates this season, then I better go back and watch season 4 one more time. Last night after watching the finale I kind of had that feeling like I was getting ready to take an exam and I hadn't studied enough. :0
I hope Claire's bird wasn't one of them.
It looks like they got all the passengers and crew out of that plane in the river. The newscasters were relaying that the crew did a great job of handling the situation, especially the "landing" on the water.
Right Sayidsgirl, I'm just thinking that from what I saw again this week, that I'm going to lay bets on Ben planting the freckage and Widmore trying to figure out how, etc., like Gault said. They both had a vested interest in keeping outsiders away, but I like the idea of Ben and Jacob trying to foil Widmore's plans by planting the fake. Even if I'm wrong, I'll get some peace of mind until I find out, heheh.
What a good ending for the plane story. I heard the pilot did a fantastic job and all the passengers kept their cool in getting out.
It would make sense that it was Ben who planted the fake, even if they both wanted to keep outsiders away. But Ben had a plus in that he was on the island and knew how to get on and off and where it was. He would know by putting the fake in the Sunda Trench it would really throw outsiders off the scent and far away.
ive always suspected that frank was working for Ben, not asking about the pilot ever on the island among other things. I noticed last night that not only did frank not notice the bullet holes when they were on the ground, but was later sure there was an exit hole for the bullet, but the shadiest thing he did was tell jack to just put enough gas to get them back to the island like he knew exactly when the freighter was gonna blow up and jusrt long enough to get sun nice and pissed at mr. widmore. He also seemed to stronglt sugest that someone(sawyer) should jump off the chopper. I don't think its a cooincidence that frank is the only freighty to make it off the island or not get killed...

I'm sort of seeing it as almost a new series. The redemption story was the first 3 seasons. And the last 3 are sort of something else. So the finale sort of set the stage for what that something else is. . .okay, stopping rambling now.

And the popup pointed out about that time that Hurley felt guilty about the dock collapse because of his weight. . .you do sort of wonder if Frank was engaging in a little manipulation Ben-style there.

What you said reminded me of the other thing that solidified (to an extent anyway) my Ben/freckage theory: it was the way that Frank told Michael how he told Widmore about his disbelief that it was his pilot friend in the feckage, and Wid believed Frank and brought him along. Of course, it could also be the case that Wid was saying, "Yeah, sure it's fake Frankie, lets go find it, winkwink!" :-B
LOL Lost2010. I wonder if the message of seasons 4-6 will be to show *how* to bring about your own rebirth/redemption via truly giving up yourself for the greater good? So far, most of our Losties were doing things just for their own benefit (even Jack IMO, who had to fix people becuase it made him feel relevent). S1-3 showed them how life could be different for their sorry selves. Now, by giving up their cushy life back in The World, they might learn to make a great sacrifice that's truly outside themselves, by making the decision to go back to the island to put things right.
At least, I hope that it's going to be something like that. I will be very disappointed if the final seasons are only about fighting and killing and blowing things up.

I just checked LostARGs.com, and last years CC started on July 24th, but they didn't announce the final schedule until July 13. There may be rumors before that, but it's way to early to know right now.

I've been watching season 4 and something struck me. I'm probably way off base but here goes.
When Kate and Jack find Daniel after he bailed out of the helicopter, he said that they were there to rescue them. Maybe he was telling them the truth. Maybe the scientist were there to rescue them with the knowledge of they have of the island. Rescuse doesn't necessarily mean they were going to take them off the island.
I don't know even though the pop ups said Widmore sent them. I just don't buy it. It just doesn't fit for me. Unless Widmore had two agendas. Because I can't see Abaddon picking out Keamy's crew. Anyway that's my wacky theory for the day. :)
Here's my theory Sayid's Girl. Daniel, Miles, Frank and Charlotte were there (and hired by Abaddon working for Widmore) for 2 reasons. First they had to neutralize the gas. For that they needed Daniel primarily, but also a minder for Daniel and for that Charlotte fit the bill.
But the other reason for sending Charlotte, Miles, Daniel and Frank are that they are people who know/suspect too much and so Widmore saw this as a way to rid himself of them. I speculate that Charlotte and Miles are indeed Dharma offspring and that Widmore knows this. I'd even go so far as to speculate that Charlotte has bugged Widmore or Hanso about it in the past which brought her to their attention since she has a life history as recited by Ben which does not include the Island. So Widmore's ultimate plan was for Keamy to snatch Ben and remove him from the Island since for some reason Widmore can't kill Ben and then eliminate everyone on the Island, the 815ers, and as much of the Freighter crew as possible, but especially conspiracy driven Frank and Dharma connected Charlotte and Miles and nutty professor Daniel.

You think Abaddon is working for Widmore. Would that mean that Widmore wanted Locke on the island? Because Abadddon seemed to be guiding Locke that direction when he was his orderly after the accident. It seemed he was trying to get Locke to follow his destiny.
He also told Locke they would meet again. Which I have a whole other wacky theory about that.
I agree Charlotte is a Dharma offspring but I'm not so sure about Miles.
If Widmore wanted everyone on the island dead then why stop Ben from using the gas? (If he was going to.) Ben would have done his dirty work for him. Then all they would have to do is go in with gas masks and get Ben and kill the others safe at the Temple.
But I do see your point that Widmore wouldn't want anyone knowing about the island and would want to get rid of those who do.
You know I wonder that if it is true that Abaddon is working for Widmore guiding Locke to the island, there is a good reason. Widmore wanted Ben off the island and in his control for whatever reason their rivalry exists. So Widmore knows that someone else needs to be the chosen leader of the island, and Locke fit that bill. To keep the island "happy" he needs to replace Ben with another chosen leader. Wacky, huh?
Also, I agree that Charlotte is a Dharma child, but I don't see the connection with Miles.
What about the baby in the Chang video Maven? I figure that's Miles. Otherwise I don't see what connection Miles has to the Island, Dharma, anything.
As for Abaddon and Locke, I agree with Maven that getting Locke to the Island is the beginning of the end for Ben so it could easily be orchestrated by Widmore.
Memphish: I forgot about that crying baby that was referred to a "he" in the Chang video. And Charlotte and Miles are about the same age. And Miles and Chang are Asian. So I guess the possibility does exist that Miles was a DI child, too. I'm open to anything.
I'd like to think that Miles will be shown to be a special island baby too (if he is Cheng's kid), otherwise except for his ghostbusting skills, he's just another "my daddy abandoned our family to pursue his science career in a faraway land syndrome" child and would not seem to have any particular reason for being on the island other than to see what his dad abandoned him for. :o)

If you remember when Desmond was found the crew went out of the hatch in gas masks, at the time we all thought it was an elaborate ruse, the island was not toxic. But suppose that they gas was used before to kill off everyone and re-start the island.
My theory is that they had to use the gas to kill everyone off, then move the island sending the wheel turner off as well, then the island could in a sense reboot. From what we see of the upcoming season it doesn't look like the move is having good affects on our Losties.

Hello all, I'm back from my trip around Florida.
In case anyone in the UK is wondering the new series of Lost is on on Sunday 25th on Sky 1.
It's a shame I couldn't time the trip to correspond with the first episode ! All I saw on the TV were promo's for series starting soon. Although I did see the 24 premiere while I was there.

Lisa, let me just say that DVR is the best thing that ever happened to my TV. It's so nice to be able to record so easily, and to pause a live show to take the dog out!

I agree time travel has been a part of the show from the begining, but I'm not so sure most people seen it coming or are prepared to go on that journey.

The passes sound reasonable. But I'm out here near the East coast and have a daughter I can't leave behind. I know you guys will keep us all updated on what's going on.
First tell a good story. If the story's good, I think those of us that didn't sign up for a time travel story will happily continue along the journey. If it becomes an in depth exploration of the concept of time travel. . .hmmmm. . .less appealing.
As much as I like Scifi Lost2010, I agree. But I get the feeling that TPTB aren't going to do much talk about the time travel, they're probably just going to show what happened, not much about how it happened. that is, sort of leaving that up to our own imaginations however far into it we want to imagine. Like, shooting the theory out there with a freaky ComicCon vid, and then letting us run with it all we want for the show.
I think that with TPTB using the first few seasons of the show giving lots of background to the characters and their situations and hangups really invests the viewer into what they're going through. The sci-fi stuff has evolved over the seasons little by little, and, IMHO, will be more acceptable to most viewers.
I'm on the east coast too and the plane tickets are expensive !! I'm going to keep looking since I know someone now has a room I could bunk in and share the costs with.
Heck yes- you can bunk with us! I'm getting really excited too! And it's not for another 6 months! Try Southwest airlines. Do they fly near you? They can have some good fares. Go to Travelocity or something like it and put San Diego in the "fare watcher"- then whenever there's a change in $$ it sends you an email. That's how we watch fares for places we need to go.
And the $75 is for the 4 day pass. You may not even need it. We're hoping the LOST panel will happen again on Saturday, in that case, you could buy a one day pass for about $30-35. Anyway...if you want to go, there's an open invitation from us.
I can't believe there are only 2 more days! It's been so long getting here.... And tomorrow night we have Fringe to help make the time pass faster. :)
You know even though time travel will figure prominently into the storyline, TPTB have always tried to make the story character driven. They have always wanted us to care about the characters, so I don't think that they will stray too far down the sci-fi road and leave those behind who care more about the characters than the time travel. At least I hope so. When I watch the DVD's I get excited about what is going on, but it's the characters that I really love- watching them struggle and change.
Yeah, we ended up getting the 4-day pass to cover all our bases because we don't know exactly when the Lost panel is yet (although odds are it is Saturday). For an extra $20 we got the 4-day. And we booked 3 nights (July 23-26) coming in on Thursday in case the panel is then.

You know, when people ask me why I like Lost (especially since it's so hard to follow), I have to say that even though I like the show, it's mostly the fun of decoding the show with you all that's the most fun! And considering how frustrated I got with it in season 4, having you guys to help unravel things gives me patience.

Memphish, didn't Kate say at the airport to Jack that night he called her that it had been 3 years since they left, meaning 2007? But even if she meant 3 years from right after Christmas when they left, a few more days after they got rescued and it would be 2005, so maybe it's 2008?
I think it's 2007. But I guess I don't really have any proof other than what Kate said.
She said she'd spent the last 3 years trying to forget what happened the day they left. Which in my mind would be 12/(30-31)/2004.

I had been thinking it was 4 years, but I have no idea where I got that. Maybe just the symmetry that would create. . .Most of the early flashbacks showed us where they were 4 years ago and so I guess I just assumed we were flashing forward to 4 years later. . .
I figure that there might be a few 2008 days in there somewhere this season, especially from some spoilers that I saw where the *bleeps* are *bleep* and that would take some time. (to borrow your bleeping vernacular Lost2010, heheh) :o)

Ok finally! It took me 4 tries to get that posted!
I thought that the S3 finale and S4 finale part with Jack/Ben in the funeral parlor were some of the latest dated FF's- which were 2007. I don't remember any that took place after that (although my memory could be faulty). I think, based on some of the previews, that the O6 will venture into 2008 this season.
It could possibly be near the end of 2007. It's hard to tell in L.A.
So if it is we could go into early 2008.
