Hosts David A Dein and Steve "The Goog" Guglich spend some time discussing "Sundown" the episode of Lost that features very little the charcter named Sun? Go fig. Seriously the episode is calling "Sun Down" and Sun didn't even get pushed over. What a travesty!

I've only read about 20 comments from last week, so I'm pretty behind. Oh well. Looking forward to tomorrow night's episode!
This is great. I was just thinking to myself if there were in podcast for me to listen too. lol
Glad you're back for the new ep Amy, hope that you had a great trip.
Here's the link again to my Encyclopedia-Lostica post SG, so you don't gave to go back to the broken thread. It's just my silly wish in 2007, but I'm glad that it has come true. :-D
I was thinking the same thing about hoping that Blogger is working OK for tomorrow, I'll really miss "watching" Lost with all of you if it's still glitching.
Another great podcast guys. It seems everyone is as confused as I am! LOL Who's good and who's evil?
Downloading...:)
xxoo
Thanks Capcom.
Pardon me if this was mentioned before, but does anyone else think Naveen has been doing not a great job this season hiding his English accent? I know we heard it first with "what happened?", but I'm noticing it again in the FS of Sundown.
I was thinking more about the f/sideways and how the Losties may have changed. I am getting more convinced that the writers were trying to keep them enough the same so we would still identify with them and care about what's happening to them, but change them just enough so that they can sort out their core issues.
Jack is not a mess in the f/side- work is OK, he is the one calming down his mother, he isn't drinking, his apartment is organized and modern. He still says "nothing is irreversible" to John- so may still be trying to be perfect to prove his father wrong-but the scene with David shows he is still growing too.
As to Sawyer, if Cooper is someone that John wants at his wedding, then maybe Sawyer's whole childhood was different. He might still be a bit of an outlaw, helping Kate to escape, but he may have been sincere in advising Hurley to be careful. He didn't seem like a guy who just committed and accidental murder and had gotten thrown out of Australia. He looks more solid to me.
Besides now believing he is lucky, Hurley also has become more confident. There he is in his business suit jotting down his number on John's pad-"tell them I sent you." Still Hurley-just moved over a little.
It's funny- Sayid really is the one that does not seem different to me at all. It's true what you say SG that he did not want to go back-it does look like going back has made things worse for him. Doesn't seem fair really- he had parent problems like all the others- in his case his father defining manhood as being able to kill.
Happy LOST day folks.
Happy LOST day, going to listen to the podcast now.
Happy Lost Day!
Morning,
Happy Lost day
yay! It's Lost Day!!
happy day to all my LoCo friends!
Yes- Happy-Lost to look forward to Day!
Happy LOST day, y'all. Since we have 18 hours this season, and we are at hour 7, this begins the middle 6-hour section!
LOL Amy, I was just thinking that same thing the other day at one point in the ep, as in gosh, Sayid really sounds British here. X-D
Happy Lost Day!
I know the title for tonight's episode (that doesn't bother me), and it should be interesting!
@maven, I know it, too, and I love it!
Happy Lost Day! Can't wait!
I would like to chalk up the accent thing to Sayid being a world traveler and business person in the FS. I know that doesn't account for every accent slip, but I would rather think that than, "This is the last season so f it." :)
Right Ginger, I'd hate to think that too. :-o And then there's always the Sideways version of things, maybe he was raised in England in that Universe, heheh.
Adam Horowitz just tweeted that he's writing his final Lost scenes ever! OMG This is getting more and more real!
Wow, that's crazy! I assume Damon and Carlton will write hours 17 and 18.
My new Lost T shirt with the cave names and numbers was just delivered.
OMG. It's actually going to end... I can't (polar) bear it.
Have fun tonight all. Catch up on comments tomorrow after I get chance to DL and watch the ep.
I have to fix my DVR in case tonight's episode goes late again, since last week's was 2 minutes longer, and I'm assuming we'll see the entirety of Sundown on repeat, thus starting 6.07 2 minutes late.
Amy Lynn
I don't know why but when they re-air a longer episode it's usually just an hour. Instead of the extra 1 or 2 minutes it originally aired.
According to my cable menu tonight's episodes are 1 hour. Funny thing is last week I had a feeling I should check the time and never got around to it.
@SG, do they cut the 2 minutes from the episode, or commercial break?
I think the commercial breaks are shorter during the pop-up episodes. I don't recall any trimmed/deleted scenes before.
Yeah, I think blueheron13 is right it's the commercials.
Just thinking aloud,
It bothers me a little that we're already 1/3 of the way through the season, but we really don't have a clear idea of what this season is about yet.
I mean, we know the season is focusing on Jacob and MIB, but we've known that would be the case since "The Incident" aired last year, and yet the nature of the conflict between the two hasn't been fleshed out at all. That surprises me. We can make some loose associations between the characters and high-level concepts such as good, evil, freewill, destiny, and so on, but they are just guesses. We just don't know much about the rules of their game, what they desire, or what the consequences would be if one defeats the other.
This is compounded by the complete lack of a relationship (so far) between the flash-sideways and main timeline (although a lot of good speculation has been proposed about this).
It's frustrating as a viewer to watch the action unfold without a better understanding of the major theme for Season 6. Last year, a lot of crazy stuff was happening, but at least the major themes were pretty evident:
- Can the island time-travelling be stopped?
- Can the O6 (and company) make it back to the island?
- Can the past be changed, or is it "whatever happened, happened"?
Much of the action in Season 5 resulted from the characters dealing with these questions, so the questions provided a framework for analyzing the characters' motivations and behavior.
Right now, I can't see any big picture in place for Season 6. What does Jacob want to happen? What does MIB want to happen? Jin wants to find Sun, and Sun wants to find Jin, but what is motivating the other characters at this point? And what in the world is the alternate timeline supposed to be telling us?
I really hope that by the mid-point of this season we'll have some idea of where this story is going. 'Cause I'm more confused than during any other time in the history of the show.
Happy Lost Day.
I've got to have that Lost Encyclopedia.
Happy Lost Day.
Blueheron13; Congrats to Detroit Blue Herons in LFL this week. You are #1.
Happy Lost Day.
Go Herons!
Congrats to BlueHeron13! Someone has to always be in the bottom 3....happy to oblige! :)
If anyone is watching the enhanced repeat...let us know if there's anything mind-blowing the pops-up! Thanks!
Congrats blueheron13!
I generally stay in the middle of the pack.
Are we Ben-centric tonight I suppose, cuz of last week's apres-promo? I'm still waiting patiently for the Ricardo-centric ep.....
@Capcom, if you want to e-mail me I can tell you the answer to both of those.
Anything yet interesting in the pop-ups?
maven
I don't know if this is mind blowing, but the pop ups said the reason Dogen didn't kill Sayid is because he knew if he did his own balance would trip from good to evil.
Maven,
Dogen was reading a book called Deep River; about 4 tourists on the Ganges, and their spiritual rebirth.
Just got home - post is in the works!
Jacob "thought himself" the protector of the island...
hmmmmm.... AL last week said the pop-ups favored MIB's story....
The pop-ups also just insinuated that dead people who appear to the living are actually the smoke monster! Dogen told Sayid that he would appear as someone who died, then the pop-up just grouped all the "appearances" together...Christian, Alex, Yemi, Dave...hmmm!
If this is true, it certainly confirms my theory from last week!
xxoo
Thanks, SG....interesting!
Bottom 3...? Don't you let go Maven.
Thanks, everyone! Smokey appearing as dead people....confirms things!
The pop ups said there was a time when Sayid could have been with Nadia in the FS but chose not to.
When the goons pick up Sayid, in last week's episode, I don't remember needing subtitles to read "unless you want us to pick up the kids together". How weird.
SG: They have "choices"? Huh?
Dave was dead? I thought he was just Hurley's imagination.
Amy Lynn the sub title wre there last week.
maven
That kind of shoots down last weeks theories. huh.
A2BH - we've always assumed that because Hurley's Dr. in Santa Rosa couldn't capture Dave's pic and no one else could see him, but isn't that Hurley's talent? Seeing and conversing with dead people...?
xxoo
Yes- they said Hurley's imaginary friend I think- which maybe means not just dead people- but people in the persons mind.
