Second! Had to make up for LOST time.. heheheh
Third?
Episod 3 is on it's way!
Thanks for all of the nice comments, everyone - Mr. Mel and I are hopeful.
However, it may not matter as we may never make it out of the SNOW! Holy cow - we're getting buried!
lol Black Swan
I went back to the last post to finish reading it. And I had to change the batteries in my mouse. But it didn't help it's still not working right.
Keep the faith, Mel. Yeah, we're getting buried too! D**ned groundhog!!
Have fun everyone! See ya later!
I hope snow doesn't ruin anyone's viewing experience. See you once we get started.
Email. Hi and enjoy. Back to lurking :D.
Hey, Ange.. if this is really you, LOL.. haven't gone to facebook yet.
It is really me.
HI HI HI
It's on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Getting out the kleenex..
OOoooh boy... and howdy.
Wow he spoke English. It must be important for them to stay there.
So Claire IS pregnant.
Yep, Sayid'sgirl.. my thoughts exactly, but why is it so important for Sawyer to stay?
Ange! Hi. Where were you last week? :)
So Dogen keeps touching the ankh around his neck- at Jabob moments?
So Kate's got deja vu now. Still not sure if anything else in the alt-verse matters.
Welcome back Ange.
Pregnant Claire.
Kate definitely recognized Jack..
She's pretty sure of herself here (on island)
more Kate deja vu? looking through claire's things
Who is Kates new friend I know him from a lot of things, but can't think of the name.
I think it's important for them all to be there.
Shades of Danielle.
Huh?
He didn't really pass the test! oh oh
Was it a test? And why didd he fail?
Shades of Danielle I thought the same thing Sayid's Girl. It's almost like Sayid is looping on the Island itself.
Ded, what do you mean Kate's new friend?
I assume the test was for signs of MIB/Smokey or the Others version of his judgement given the ash. At first I thought they would brand him a la Juilet, but no.
I think that was a test to see if any of the tainted water got into Sayid.. and he failed, so.....
SG-
I agree that its important for all of them to be there...was a last minute thought on last post.
Jacob picked a team... I think MIB picked a team (via Widmore)....more to see....
poor sayid!
So what or who is in Sayid?
Let's just say a little smoke might start coming out of poor Sayid's ears or something like that?
Hey it's always sunny on lost... lol
Rousaeau's been dead for years!
Oh the room 23 guard!!! Yikes!
right!!! thanks otherlisa! Now I remember!
Does Sayid's accent sound different to anyone else?
So crazy Danielle was right all along. Sayid has the sickness!
Is the infestion the sickness??? Quarentine?
Good point memephish.
What? Sayid had the 'sickness' before being 'saved' in the spring?
Maybe the spring gave him the sickness.
That's what I was thinking, SG
Why does everyone think that Sayid failed when they said he passed? I think I missed something. or did he fail and that's what the pill is about?
Kat-
Lennon said he lied to Sayid about passing.
Who said it last board, Kate WILL deliver Claires baby!!
Excellent call!
Kat - Lennon said to Dogen that he just lied after he told Sayid that he'd passed the test.
Kate delivering the baby again.
Thank goodness most of this episode is on Island. The off Island stuff is crap.
thanks! I guess i missed that. that means ill be watching again tomorrow.
Kat, they said they lied to Sayid saying that he passed the test.
deja vu moment on the Island.. with Kate going after Sawyer (like she did to Jack when he said not to come back) deja vu in LA, Kate's going to help deliver Aaron again?
It doesn't make sense, but was that the black bag with the black & white stones that Sawyer pulled out of the box?
KATE is going to deliver!!! this is exciting!
Ethan says he is Goodspeed???
OMG, Ethan = Dr. Goodspeed!
Ethan Goodspeed.
I don't think so, TAV... just wait.
Yikes!
What's that noise they play.. sounds like the plane is going to rip apart in the segways?
Black - it is definitely an airplane engine type noise... I agree.
haha whats that? its a baseball.
Red sox!
thanks Ded
.
Red Sox- world series game baseball?
So they were going to kill Sayid..
My thoughts your words TOL
Was that baseball in the stuff Richard set out for young Locke?
Also, why did Ethan use the name Aaron? Did Claire say it before then?
Maybe they were going to kill Sayid, or maybe they were going to try and kill what ever might be within him... I think that the I have no secrets line was very out of place coming from Sayid.
It doesn't bode well for Sayid if they think he needs to be poisoned.
And BTW, James is breaking my heart. He threw the ring in the water like Desmond did in Flashes Before Your Eyes. (Also, Jack bought a much nicer ring for Kate.)
I liked that the doctor was Ethan. If it had been Jack I was this close to out.
Memphish, yes, Claire asked if Aaron was OK.
I thought that was odd, too Memphish
I'm so sad for Sawyer
Ded- I think Memphish's Idea is better than ours....
Claire called Aaron before Ethan did.
Yes, Claire said Aaron's name.
Superior episode so far. Loads better than last week.
Right Black Swan, you can't judge a book by it's cover.
Dr.Ethan;That was creepy.
Ahhhh forgot about Des and the ring.
Same scenes... different players...WHH... but to/by whom?
I don't understand all the secrecy. Doesn't Dogen realize he'll get more cooperation if he's just upfront about stuff? Secrecy does not breed trust.
Claire is the writer of that letter to Kate about her mother... Claire is Joan Hart!!!
Lostit, typical 'Other'
oh man claire!!!
Oh snap... Claire got claimed... whoh!
OH HUZZAHHHH.
Dang that ending was awesome! So now Claire is a 'sick" Danielle.
Fastest hour on tv ever! It's not the same as watching tv...
Interesting... so did Claire get claimed when her house blew up?
Makes sense if she was hanging out with MIB Christian. And Miles seemed to sense that something was wrong with both her and Sayid.
I'm going to watch it again right now bbl
Oh poor Claire.
So Jin may be one of "them". Are they all one of them?
I wish i could rewatch. Claire definitely looked like danielle there.
Thanks for those that replied Claire said "Aaron" first.
The Other Lisa - I think Joan Hart was the alias Kate used in Born to Run and she used it again here. I don't think Claire used it.
So did Ethan and Amy get on the sub or are we being told that the Island did not sink with the bomb? Because if they did get on the sub pre-Incident, how did Ethan get back on the Island as a kid?
Overall I'm still not on board with the LA X universe. It's leaving me with so freaking what.
I also didn't love the over the top parallels such as Kate following James to Dharmaville same as she did Jack and Dogen's whole the leader has to be separate just like Bai Ling told you Jack stuff.
So Claire must be making the traps, Danielle-style, too.
ML thinking the same thing about Miles.
TOL I'm not following you about the letter.
I think Ethan and Amy were evacuated along with Miles and his mother before the incident happened.
My theory on Claire is that she died in the explosion but was being claimed thus you could interact with her and Miles could sense something was wrong, he just couldn't quite put his finger on it.
If she has been claimed and Sayid has too, does this in fact make a zombie army? Will dead Locke get off the beach? Will a zombie army including Yemi and the other Nigerians rise against the Temple? If you're buried can you not be claimed?
memphish
Yeah you're right about Kate using Joan Hart.
So Darlton weren't kidding when they were talking about the zombie season! LOL
memphish - good point about the burying. Maybe that's why Keamy's team took the time to bury Danielle and Karl. And why Amy insisted they bury the Others after Sawyer and Juliet shot them.
Maybe no one went to the island in the reset.
Good point memephish you can't be claimed if you're buried.
lostit
I thought the same thing when Hurley asked Sayid if he was a zombie. lol
This was an ok episode. But I didn't think it was great.
I'm loving this 'sideways' storytelling this season.. it's setting things up and putting it all together right now. I also love every character story of Lost, even the 'triangle'. It's very emotional this season.. dang, Josh is becoming such a great actor.. hope Hollywood takes notice!
This episode was a tease. Just a few tiny morsels of info and it's left me hungry for more.
Sawyer is just breaking my heart! And I want to throttle Kate.
Black Swan
I can see how they're setting things up. I'm just not that intersted. At least not yet.
Well, Ethan being Dr. Goodspeed is not a surprise. In 1977 Juliet held Horace's baby and when she asked his name, she was told "Ethan"... appropriately creeped out last season.
Hmmm, a step down from last week, though it improved a bit in the last 30 minutes. Great stuff from Holloway. Not too impressed with direction and editing this ep. Dialog a little too quippy.
I liked the Island stuff though I'm ready to move past the mourning of Juliet. I know, I know, people complained when Claire didn't mourn Charlie long enough, but we've only got a few episodes left. Let's move on.
Last episode, Sayid's name was Jacob's list right? Is Smokey now on a power play with Jacob's team down a man due to "claiming." (And is that like a cheap check? Getting geared up for my once every 4 years hockey watching.) If you can't be claimed if buried, I wonder why they didn't bury Sayid right away? Can't be buried in the Temple?
I'm also getting very annoyed by the secret keeping. It just doesn't make sense anymore. We want you, no need you to stay here, but we won't answer any of your questions. The Others deserve to lose.
Steve
When he grew up before the reset on the island he went by Etan Rom. Or maybe he just told Hurley that.
Zombie line was great though, even if it was inside baseball.
Sawyer made me cry, too. I'm glad the storytelling was so improved this week!
Yeah, I agree - just tell the truth already! I can see lying to Sayid, if you think he's been claimed, but Jack would be a lot more helpful if he knew the truth.
And if it was important for Sawyer to stay, why not tell him WHY it's so important.
I agree with memephish how long do we have to watch Sawyer grieve? I can live with the angry kill everything that moves Sawyer though.
Although, I personally like it when Jack gets so frustrated, he just starts to flip out. He's much more entertaining that way. :)
Why did they need Jack to kill Sayid instead of doing it themselves?
memphish, probably because then it's still Jack's "responsibility"
I think having Jack kill Sayid may have been a test for Jack.
Or maybe they can't kill him like MIB and Jacob can't kill each other and Ben and Widmore can't.
Seems short-sighted though doesn't it? He's been claimed and you who are on guitar ankh list can get him to kill himself, but we can't.
Wait, I nailed it myself. He needs to kill himself so none of them have blood on their hands.
SG, that's true enough. My only theory on it is the possibility that on-island timeline Ethan may not have known his father very well, or like you said, may have used his middle name or a fictional surname in season one. Assuming the island sank in 1977 / the (bigger) incident, Horace may still be alive, having never been gassed by Ben.
Speaking of which... no island in the sideways story; whould that mean Ben might be a decent / innocent person still?
Miscellaneous thoughts:
The island being at the bottom of the sea means that all the Others or people living on the island when 815 landed aren't there. They are either dead or we'll see them in the flash to sideways 2004!!
I was glad they clarified the year as 2007-2008. That Other said, "Three years ago you escaped..."
Claire was claimed (Flair?). Sayid was claimed (Fayid?). Christian was claimed then too, right? He was a dead body above ground. Rousseau's team was claimed. Ben, then? Claimed? They said he "was never going to be the same again."
I keep going back to the conversation on the beach between Jacob and the embodied Smokey. Smokey said he'd find a loophole. That means there's a likelihood that there's somebody or something more powerful than either on the island. What is it?
@Melissa_Lossa - I noticed that too. Sayid sounding more Naveen than usual this ep. Intended? Or not? Come to think of it, I thought Jin sounded a little odd too.
I like the new do that Clusseau has.
I'll try to come back later this week and post my thoughts. When I've finished crying. Poor Sawyer. . .he was going to propose. . . .sniff.
Oh yeah, apparently all those drugs he took in the O6 storyline killed off all of Island-Jack's brain cells. Why was it Sawyer decided not to kill him again - because he's going to keep going until he gets somebody else I like killed at this rate? Hurley was doing a much better job with the leadership role.
Also, Kate's connection to Aaron holds in any timeline - maybe Kate is destined to be Aaron's guardian angel of sorts. . . or you know. . .something.
Hi everyone, great comments!
LOL Memphish, everything that is ticking you off, is ticking me off too.
I'm getting kinda mad about all the time spent retelling the same scenes over and over again too, this is the last season and I wnat some "friggin answers"!
Darn Josh Holloway had had me in tears every time he's on the screen just about. I never knew that he was such a good actor, wow.
That dude in the garage that helped Kate was on a TV show about Viet Nam, or on China Beach maybe. And has also been a baddy in many movies. Off the top of my head I can't remember the titles.
It's a fascinating question that no one's really addressed - why did baby Miles get on the sub, but baby Ethan didn't?
@TAV: Oooh! Clusseau!
Ben, then? Claimed? They said he "was never going to be the same again."
Maybe... maybe he was claimed, but the water claims you for Jacob, not MIB.
That may go a long way toward answering why Jacob never spoke to Ben, even though all other leaders seemed to.
Flair! Good one Twinkle.
I'd guess if Jacob's representative, Ben, can kill him maybe MIB's representative can kill him which gives us Claire, Sayid, Christian, Yemi, other Nigerian dudes, Kate's horse?
Here's what I'll predict -- it will come down to MIB in Locke's body vs. Jack with Christian also present and he'll have to choose between MIB/Locke and Jack and will kill MIB.
I'm hoping then that (insert Dark Tower spoiler here) and we end up in the alternate timeline we've been watching all season and it now has meaning of some sort.
Steve
You're right. It could be a number of things. The barracks were on the underwater island so they could be dead or alive or maybe Ethan was evacuated with Amy.
As I see it, there are three kinds of "claimed":
1) Locke - Smokey/MIB has all of Locke's memories and takes his form, but Locke's dead body still exists
2)Sayid/Claire - their bodies are infected/possessed and possibly brought back to life; their personalities change
3) Yemi/Christian/Alex - Smokey takes on the form of a dead person, and their physical body disappears; he may or may not hold all of their memories
So why the differences?
Clusseau, hahaha! X-D Village, ya kill me.
Takes a Village - I love Clusseau! That's what I'm using from now on.
Rewatching- it occurred to me too that Sayid might redeem himself by fighting off the infection long enough to do himself in to save the others- small o.
memphish - I kind of wondered about DT, too. Maybe when you've found your destiny, you end up in a new reality, like our ka-tet (mostly) does? Where things end up as they should be?
ML, I'm starting to feel like the Island might be a restaurant in New York.
Another 2nd time- Ethan was able to find Claire on the island path and kidnap her because she started having contractions.
Ethan meets pregnant Claire in clinic - same reason.
I didn't get the Clusseau reference. What did I miss?
Claire + Rousseau = Clusseau (o omitted for pronunciation clarification)
@LostIt - it's a mash of Claire and Rosseau, and also makes a references to Inspector Clouseau from the Pink Panther.
Steve said: Maybe... maybe he was claimed, but the water claims you for Jacob, not MIB.
Yeah, but then Sayid was claimed by the water because Jacob was dead first?
Memphish said: ...if Jacob's representative, Ben, can kill him maybe MIB's representative can kill him which gives us Claire, Sayid, Christian, Yemi, other Nigerian dudes, Kate's horse
Brilliant!! And totally the "alternate" timeline is going to be essential to the conclusion of the series. I trust Darlton's story telling enough to believe they aren't jerking us around.
Amy: Besides baby Ethan not leaving, I want to know what happened to Annie.
Mellissa_Lossa:
I agree. TPTB need to help us make sense of all the various forms of "possession" we are seeing.
LostIt:
Claire has taken on Rousseau's role = Clusseau
memphish - exactly! One that sells Nozzola Cola, perhaps. :)
Thanks memphish! I should have figured that out - duh!
Another dumb question - ML said something about wondering about DT? Who (or what) is DT?
I've been thinking DT ever since the coffee reference.
Maybe the water claims you for Jacob when it's clear.
Dark Tower
Sorry, LostIt - DT is Dark Tower. Memphish and I are big fans of the series.
Yeah, that's what I meant. The water claimed him for Smokey because it wasn't clear.
But if Smokey could infect people in the Temple, why the Ash and the big march to the Temple, etc..
There are a lot of dots they need to connect!
oops sorry Twinkle mis understood you.
Lost2010 - yes! I didn't catch what Juliet said the first time around but I re-watched LA X today, and thought about DT immediately when I heard it.
Yeah, but then Sayid was claimed by the water because Jacob was dead first?
Like SG said above, I think Sayid was tainted by the water. It should have claimed him for Jacob, who seems to be the good / light / redemption / life figure... but since he died, the water was no longer clear, no longer capable of claiming in Jacob's name.
I think MIB attacked the water as one of his highest priorities. He wouldn't want any more Jacob supporters running around.
I was just thinking about the title of the episode and I remembered that when Sawyer told Kate not to come after him, I said "Well now she's definitely going after hime. It's what Kate does."
But if Smokey could infect people in the Temple, why the Ash and the big march to the Temple, etc..
Well, the water was tainted before they knew Jacob was dead, and long before the ring of ash was laid down.
LostIt said...
I was just thinking about the title of the episode and I remembered that when Sawyer told Kate not to come after him, I said "Well now she's definitely going after hime. It's what Kate does."
Yes, and another of those deja vu moments, this time outside of the show... was there a rather similar episode in season one called "What Kate Did"?
Perhaps those that are not buried are claimed by MIB or Jacob (claiming Locke after his death plunge) and it has nothing to do with the water. Because Jacob is dead the temple offered no protection and hence the ash protection was pulled out on knowledge of Jacob's death. The water probably didn't claim Sayid, it was just that he died because the water had no Jacob healing powers? Does that fit?
Nailed it! So Sayid is possessed by something malignant, if not MIB himself. I think it's safe to assume it's the same sickness that made the French team change.
About the whole Ethan Miles evacuation thing. We never really saw the original incident. We saw the altered timeline incident in which Miles' dad was warned early and more people were evacuated. Most likely Ethan was evacuated in timeline B but not timeline A, while Miles was evacuated in timelines A and B.
Quick question, what was in Sawer's box? Was that something covered last season? And if so, how is it possible that it exists in universe A if the island blew up in universe B? Or am I way off on the universe A and B thing?
All in all, I was a little disappointed in this episode, but I'm usually disappointed in episodes that feature Kate. I'll, as always, be a die hard Hurley fan to the end! He does have the best theme song after all ;)
@Steve, yes, that was the point :)
I would say the wedding ring hidden in the box.
Will
I'm not sure which universe you consider A and B.
But in the current island story the bomb blew them back into their original time line. they time traveled from 1977 to 2007. So the ring has only been in the cabin for 3 years.
Sawyer and Juliet's hidden box is like Kate and Tom's time capsule.
In the other time line the bomb worked and reset them to land in LA like Daniel said it would but things are different.
Will said: "I'm usually disappointed in episodes that feature Kate." Me too, it's too soon in the season for me for another Kate ep. :-p
I do wonder if Ben is tainted? What about Widmore? I'm not really clear on this as the Others are frequently and unnecessarily violent while advancing the agenda of their leaders. Perhaps the Dharma innoculations were designed to prevent being claimed based on some traded knowledge between Horace and Richard, possibly hinted at in the truce. How does Dogen fit in the hierarchy of the island? Were the Others the first to promote separation of church and state?
Wait, I think you are wrong SG... if Sawyer was planning to ask Juliet to marry him, that would have been in 1977.
The box and ring would have been there for 30 years, even though for those shot forward back to their own time it may have only been days. Right? Or are we discussing a different ring?
Sorry SG, I can be a bit confusing, even to my self. By universe A I mean the original timeline where 815 crashes, and B is where it doesn't.
And could you clarify? The ring has only been there 3 years? Did Sawer put it there in 2004? Or 1977? And I was under the assumption that the bomb not only blew them back to the future (hehe) but also back to their original universe. I is confuzed...
Off Island has become like a Narnia;(a real world with real people to invest in) Meanwhile back in the jungle, our Losties are
still trying to stay one step ahead of the Others,Old Smokie, and their own destiny.
Steve
You're right it would have been 30 years. I had the original time line in my head and was thinking about flight 316. Thanks for correcting me.
All right, all - I'm off to bed. I'm reading "Under the Dome" by Stephen King, and I want to get a few more pages in before I crash!
Incidentally, King mentions Lost in this book, although he gets the reference wrong - he quotes "that Scottish" guy as saying "Don't mistake coincidence for fate," when we all know it was Eko!
SG, I thought you knew what you meant, I caught it... was just clarifying for those who may not have understood.
Also, again this is just how I see it, as soon as A-Losties went back in time, they inadvertently created universe B. I'm not sure, time travel makes my head hurt.
This line was good-
Jack- did I say something funny?
Lennon- probably not- you don't really have a sense of humor.
So Dogen doesn't recognize the Losties but seems to know a lot about them- see how he tries to guilt Jack into giving Sayid the poison and then knows all about Claire.
Will
Sorry I got that wrong didn't mean to confuse you.
Will
There's two separate parallel time lines.
No problem SG, makes sense when you add the extra 0, haha. But that just makes me even more confused, because if Sawer put the box in the cabin in the altered 1977 and he is now back in the original timeline without Jughead's detonation, shouldn't the box not be there because he never put it there in this timeline? OH NOES!! Is everything I know wrong?
Night Melissa.
Check please.
Goodnight; See you Loco's tomorrow.
The bomb went of in both time lines. One group reset the other group time traveled.
Island time is different. That's all I can say because I'm not sure I can explain it.
Sawyer put the ring there in 1977 in this time line the island is not underwater so the ring is still there. I'm not sure what if anything changed on the island from 1977 to 2007.
But in the reset time line the Losties were never crsshed on the island so the ring was never put there. Things changed in that time line.
You've nailed the Grandfather paradox Will. If the bomb in 1977 keeps them from coming to the Island, how do they come back to the Island to blow up the bomb. So instead there are 2 universes, one where they crashed and left and came back and are now in 2007 and one where the Island is underwater and they land in LA.
Night TAV
Will
I'm not sure I helped your confusion any. :)
Claires ultrasound says 10-22-04.
Good catch!
That also coincides with Ethan's statement that she was 36 weeks along, or closer to nine months than eight months, which she was when the original 815 crashed.
I can't believe her doctor cleared her to fly that late in her pregnancy. And who wouldn't be ready at 36 months? I remeber how uncomfortable that was - I couldn't wait for that kid to be separate from my body (and no longer pressing into my lungs or on my bladder!)
36 months! I bet you were uncomfortable LostIt! (JK)
Great catch on the date. A month later minus two days than the original 815.
On Island, Aaron was born on 11/1/04 per Lostpedia.
Wow! That was quite the typo! Of course I meant 36 weeks!
So the Aaron may be born in little more than a week?
That's right, Memphish, that's what I was saying last week. But wouldn't that mean that our original A-Losties were, for a time, in the alternate timeline we are now witnessing, with the island under water and all? Or did the universe split into two at the point of Jughead's detonation in which case they were in the 70's of both universes as SG suggested? That might make more sense. Still, I don't think the bomb went off in both timelines because if it had, the hatch would never have been built.
All physical reasons aside, I guess that Claire would be mentally unprepared for the unexpectedly early birth, since her plan for the baby's new home just got squashed. So now she needed a little time to figure out what to do next before it's born. I wonder if we know who this jilted woman's husband is from the 815A story/timeline.
Presumably the hatch wasn't built in the time line that land in LA that's why they detonated it the bomb at the site so none of that happened. It was suppose to destroy the pocket of energy.
I need to post complete thoughts in one post.
The hatch in the current island time line is where Desmond turned the key and it imploded.
I think I'm going to bed. Catch up to guys tomorrow.
Also, Jin's storyline was really well plotted. As the only one with a real NEED to explore the island, to look for Sun, it was nice to see him get out of the Temple, even if it was supposedly for different reasons, and as the only one who spent time with young Danielle, he would most certainly be familiar with the sickness.
Rewatching now - the scene where Kate pulls the stuffed whale out of Claire's bag. When Kate was arguing with Jack after they were rescued, didn't Aaron show up holding an animal like that?
Ok I'm here, but haven't caught up yet. My fav line of the night:
"I don't want to have to stick you with a bunch of needles if I don't have to..."
LOLOLOL
Right, I agree about the hatch being there in universe A because the bomb didn't go off and in universe B (where they land in LA) the bomb did go off and the island is sunken. But where do the two universes diverge? At the point where Sawer and the gang first transport to the 70's? After the bomb explodes? Or perhaps it's not as black and white as we think?
Yes, good catch Lostit...Aaron does have an orca in that scene with Jack and Kate
The stuffed whale first appeared in "Something Nice Back Home"
Also, when they were testing Sayid, just what were they expecting for results? His reactions to what they did to him seemed pretty normal to me.
