Follow the Leader - Season 5, Episode 15

Tonight, Jack and Kate disagree over strategy for saving the island returnees; Locke consolidates his leadership of the Others; and Sawyer and Juliet raise suspicions at the Dharma Initiative.

I'd say we're WAY past "raising suspicion" at the Dharma Initiative.

And if Locke is the leader of the Others now, what does that mean for Richard, or poor forlorn Ben?

Just in time!

You guys are the best. :)

TakesaVillage said...

I think my heart just stopped.

Beverly said...

At least Richard remebers them. I don't like what he remembered, though. Maybe that's going to change?

Joseph Finchum said...

With the what now?

Tess315 said...

I wonder how many people died in the original incident?

lost2010 said...

Sort of anticlimactic for Jin to die again. Surely he won't.

Black Swan said...

great make-up job on Ben.. he looks really beat up!

Richard looked very surprised to see Locke there, don't you think?

lost2010 said...

Here it is capcom - how is it good for Kate if the plane lands just like it was supposed to?

Capcom said...

Sheesh, Richard gave us a spoiler!

Hmmm, I see what you mean. I'd say to Jack, "Yeah but we'd just have different misery than the misery we had this time around." :o)

Tess315 said...

That's one of the few things Kate has said that I like. "He thinks he does."

lost2010 said...

You'd think she'd say, "Um Jack, I'd be on trial for murder without a trial to help garner me sympathy - or a cute dr. to testify on my behalf."

TakesaVillage said...

I like the new John Locke.

Tess315 said...

I don't think Jack has thought it through. All he wants is to get back to his time and never have landed on the island.

He hasn't thought about what will change if they do.

Beverly said...

So the bomb is under Dharmaville? I wasn't expecting that. Now they have to sneak back in.

Capcom said...

They should take James to Room23.

Capcom said...

Agreed, Sayidsgirl.

Tess315 said...

I was jist thinking she was pregnant.

memphish said...

Whahhhh?

Beverly said...

So THAT's how Richard knew! Wow, Locke is really creating his own desitny, isn't he?

Beverly said...

So why aren't they taking Sawyer to the tent dude with the LSD?

Black Swan said...

Yeah, Locke creating his own destiny!! I love that!!

memphish said...

Really good episode so far. Nice parallelism with the Island couples. I'm glad Kate asked Jack about not meeting her. I think Jack has thought about it and dealing with Kate's games isn't worth it. How do you like them apples Kate? I still want to know if Daniel's been born yet or not.

lost2010 said...

Ah, so Eloise is pregnant. That would make sense.

Daniel's about the same age as Miles I guess.

Phil's smarter than Radzinsky.

Black Swan said...

I hate Radzinski, but I hate Phil more!

lost2010 said...

But we really don't need to see the scene again. Just alluding to it and cutting away would have been fine.

lost2010 said...

There you go Sayid's Girl! Sayid to the rescue!

Joseph Finchum said...

Hey SG.... theres your man to the rescue... once again... lol

Beverly said...

OMG! What just happened! Was Kate shot?

memphish said...

I bit hard on that one. I thought Kate was a goner. Now Sayid is accurate. :-p

Tess315 said...

Yay Sayid! I had to say it. ;)

TakesaVillage said...

Thank you Sayid.

Black Swan said...

Sayid to the rescue!! Did Kate get shot?

Beverly said...

I was wondering where Sayid was...

TakesaVillage said...

Ratzinski.

Capcom said...

Yay, the one-man-cavalry has arrived!

memphish said...

I'd forgotten about Sayid, and I even saw the preview.

Black Swan said...

LOL, it's the Sayid fan-club!

Black Swan said...

Yeah, TAV, RATzinski!!

Tess315 said...

I of course hadn't forgotten about Sayid. I've been waiting for this episode all week.

And I like this fan club. lol

Black Swan said...

it's Sayid'sgirls LOL!

Tess315 said...

Absolutely RATzinsky!!
I use to feel sorry for him when Kelvin talked about him. Not anymore.

Beverly said...

I think there's hope for Jin. Jin wasn't in the picture that Sun showed Richard. Maybe he wasn't one of the people he watched die. Maybe it was Kate, JAck and Hurley. But if Hurley dies, I'm gonna cry.

Beverly said...

So Kate wasn't shot! I guess she just was afraid she was when she heard the gun go off.

Capcom said...

Wow, I thought for sure that James was gonna do the hero thing again and jump off the sub after Juliet got in!

Capcom said...

Yay tunnels! The Tunnel Theorists got their affirmation! :o)

Capcom said...

Be careful what you wish for Locke. :-o

Haha.

Joseph Finchum said...

you were wondering where Sayid was... I was wondering
WHERE THE 'F' IS CLAIRE?

Beverly said...

It sounds like Ben still has a plan.

TakesaVillage said...

Ben,Ben,Ben.

Capcom said...

Yeah, Ded!

Tess315 said...

I could still be wrong but I've never thought Locke was suppose to be the leader. I think it could be Jack, maybe. :)
Time will tell I guess.

lost2010 said...

Didn't this same act get Locke dumped in a pit of dead bodies once before?

Capcom said...

Yes, he's still crazy Locke as far as I can see.

Joseph Finchum said...

Ben always has a plan... if he follows through... and smokey gets him.

memphish said...

The tunnels! Finally.

I also loved how Hurley got tripped up on who the President was.

Really enjoying this episode, especially since my local station hasn't had to interrupt it at all!

Black Swan said...

Capcom said...
Wow, I thought for sure that James was gonna do the hero thing again and jump off the sub after Juliet got in!

But being the hero wasn't the only reason he jumped out of the chopper!

Locke just knows now.. he knows everything!

loved it with Richard and Ben! LOL!

Tess315 said...

No!!!

lost2010 said...

No Sayid!! You got it wrong. Somebody shoot her, quick! She ruins everything.

Joseph Finchum said...

and the quadrangle rears its ugly head.

Capcom said...

Alright, weez going for a sub ride!

Joseph Finchum said...

WHen we last so the sub it was not in an area that lead to see.... is the dock in a different place in 1977 or did they just screw up again... tee hee

Capcom said...

Waitaminitt, how's Eloise gonna tell them to go back to the island, if they've never been to the island? Stupid Jack.

Capcom said...

Wut-thuh?!

Tess315 said...

What!

Beverly said...

WTF?!?!?!?!?!

Joseph Finchum said...

Can't believe I am going to say this, but... now I sort of hope Ben has a plan...lol

memphish said...

That was the LOST I love! Though I hate that Kate is on the sub. I was anxious the whole time and felt like anyone might die at any moment. And wanted people to be okay. And loved S1 Locke complete with knife and boar. And was so glad that those stupid Ilana and Bram people weren't in the episode.

Beverly said...

Juliet was not too happy to see Kate.

lost2010 said...

Talk about a promo spoiler. LOL

It was such a nice scene in the sub though wasn't it - - before SHE showed up.

Beverly said...

Waitaminute, if Kate is on the sub, then how likely is it that Richard saw her die?

TakesaVillage said...

Don't they know that two's company, three's a crowd?
Ben really looked perplexed.

Tess315 said...

I know what you mean Ded.

lost2010 said...

Ben is the man! He's one of the good guys. I can't believe you guys never believed him. LOL

memphish said...

I did NOT watch the preview, so if you could talk about it only after warning me I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for being so high maintenance!

lost2010 said...

Night! It was a pleasure to watch with you guys.

Beverly said...

So does this mean that Smokey wants Jacob dead? Who's controlling smokey?

lost2010 said...

memphish - Do everything you can to miss it - it's on the high end of spoilery.

Black Swan said...

So is Locke gonna kill Jacob or metaphorically kill Jacob? I think he wanted to take all those people with him for protection from Ben and Richard (because he knows!)

Tess315 said...

Funny I didn't find the promo that spoilery. But I do like to be teased by promos. NOT sneek peeks.

lost2010 by her did you mean Kate? When you said for Sayid to shoot her.

Melissa_Lossa said...

Whew - just caught up after a late start!

What a great episode. :)

TakesaVillage said...

Hate to leave the after-party so early, but I've got to get some sleep for "the real world" tomorrow.
Maybe the best episode so far this year.
Good nite Loco's.

Tess315 said...

Night lost2010 and tav.

lost2010 said...

SG - Yep. Kate. Well I actually meant that it only seemed like he was doing a good thing when he stopped her from being killed. Sawyer was just seconds away from escaping her evil clutches. :)

Melissa_Lossa said...

I HATE that Kate got on the sub! Both Sawyer and Juliet looked less than pleased to see her.

I did like Miles' little revelation, though - that his dad sent he and his mom away to save them.

And Hurley getting tripped us was great. "Okay, yeah, we're from the future."

Black Swan said...

You're right sayid'sgirl, the previews are fun, but the sneak peeks give away almost the whole episode! There was very little I hadn't seen already.

lost2010 said...

SG - You probably didn't find it spoilery because you're not following the same storyline I am. ;)

Black Swan said...

Hurley was great!

Melissa, yes.. I liked that Miles got to see why his mother misled him about his dad (because she herself had it wrong!)

memphish said...

Ben is not the man. Ben has been misled by the Island as have all the Others ever since Jacob has managed to become the Man Behind the Curtain. The Others are the inhabitants of Emerald City. Locke is going to rip down the curtain.

Melissa_Lossa said...

memphish - So, Locke is Toto? ;)

Black Swan said...

Yep, memphish... Locke is going to rip down the curtain! exactly!

memphish said...

Vincent is Toto if they can find him.

Black Swan said...

I wonder how Christian fits into this?

Melissa_Lossa said...

Another interesting example of Locke creating his own destiny. Although Christian told him that he was right about having to die.

Tess315 said...

lost2010
Ok. I'll have to take a closer look at it and see if I can find what is spoilery for you. :)

memphish said...

I think Locke is making the point that the Island and Jacob are separate. The Island told Locke where to be in order to live, but Jacob hasn't told Locke how to find him. I have no idea how Christian Shepard and Claire fit into this equation with Jacob.

Capcom said...

LOL Ded about Ben having a plan!!! X-D

John's turned into a liar like Ben now. :-p

memphish said...

Christian didn't actually tell Locke he had to die. Locke told Christian that, and Christian said that's why they call it a sacrifice.

lost2010 said...

Locke is evil. I don't know why no one else can see it. He's going to rip down the curtain and destroy the belief system that has protected the island for centuries. . .he's violating the prime directive.

;)

(You guys know I'm just joking around with this stuff right?)

memphish said...

We always need a Devil's Advocate Lost2010.

Capcom said...

It will be so weird if it turns out that Locke is yet again, being controlled by someone, all the while he thought that he was making his own decisions. As in, he's just been Jacob's puppet all this time. :-o

Yes, I was really disappointed about somethings in the preview, man! Just when you thought.....

I kind of like this version of Eloise for now.

I love how Ben told Locke that he had his back, just the way he told Caesar the same thing. Stoopid Locke.

memphish said...

I like this version of Eloise too. That's why I wonder when Daniel is born. Is it after this? Ooh, if this bomb thing doesn't work does she seduce Charles and get preggers in order to fulfill destiny. Ick!

Capcom said...

I agree Lost2010, I don't think that part of the preview was very nice to show us.

Capcom said...

Heheh, you always come up with the good alternate scenarios, Memphish. X-D

lost2010 said...

Charles had his hand pressed to Eloise's abdomen in that one scene - I thought maybe Daniel was uhm - there.

Ellie is pregnant right now. Charles said he didn't want her to take them to the bomb in her condition.

Black Swan said...

memphish said...
I think Locke is making the point that the Island and Jacob are separate.

Great point!

Yeah, I think Ellie is currently pregnant with Daniel, too. And now, she doesn't seem quite so bad at pushing Daniel to do all he does because it's all to save him?

Beverly said...

Eloise is already pregnant. When she told Charles that she was taking them to the bottom he put his hand on her stomach and said something about her "condition".

Capcom said...

Aww, I missed that. Time for a rewatch in bed. :o) G'night everyone! Looking forward to reading tomorrow's posts!

memphish said...

I missed the in her condition stuff too. But to play devil's advocate if he's so all fired concerned why didn't he go too. I'm calling shennanigans on Charles.

memphish said...

New theory about Bram and Ilana. Jacob brought them there to stop Locke! But they don't have all the deets, and failed to stop him while they had the chance. If we could get through the finale without them, it would be fine with me. They could go on the Nikki and Paolo pile and it wouldn't bother me a bit. In fact, if TPTB would turn away from that story I'd give up on Libby's story. You hear me Darlton!

memphish said...

So if Richard thinks he saw Jack, Kate and Hurley die 1) do you think he meant them specifically or the DI generally in the Purge and 2) how did he survive their deaths? I mean if it's the bomb, why wouldn't he die too? What are you Richard Alpert?!?

Amused2bHere said...

wow
yeah I saw Charles tell Ellie that her "condition" was a concern. So Dan was there, but I'm not sure anyone else knows Ellie is pregnant yet.

how does one detonate an H-bomb? Has Jack ever seen Dr. Strangelove?

Darn Kate getting on the sub! I blame Horace...btw, was Horace's wife on the sub? Hmm?

The only thing I feel bad about if they erase the last 3 years is that Juilet and Sawyer won't have fallen in love. On the other hand, if there never was a Swan Hatch...wow the ramifications of this go waaaaay deep.

John's going to kill Jacob...yeah, I bet it's a figurative thing, like killing the mystery. Maybe "helping" Jacob means killing him, to release his spirit so he can go on to the next plane. Whatever, I totally applaud John for schlepping the whole peanut gallery to see Jacob. Go John!

Beverly said...

Amused, I think I finally came to a similar conclusion. I think that maybe Locke doesn't believe Jacob really exists. He's going to kill the myth that is Jacob. He needs everyone else to be there so that they will see for themselves that there is no Jacob. Others have alluded to him revealing the man behind the curtain, but I didn't get it until rewatching. When Locke says to Ben, "You've never seen him, have you?", he's pretty much saying that the "emporer has no clothes". He's a mythical figure that Richard uses to get what he wants. "It's what Jacob wanted". How he got so many people to believe in the myth for so long is another issue, though.

Of course, I could be completely wrong. After all, we still don't know what Christian and Claire are doing in the cabin and why Christian said that he speaks for Jacob.

Tess315 said...

Why is Radzinsky so adamant about being on schedule with the drilling and building the Swan?

I mean this guy has gone totally rouge.

Black Swan said...

That's what I meant by metaphorically killing Jacob.. you put it well, amused. It could be wrong, but it was great to see this issue addressed. I mean I've been wondering about good ol' Jacob myself for a long time, and why is it that Ben was supposedly the only one who could speak to him? say what? We were talking about this a couple years ago, weren't we?

Speaking of 'amused' lol! that seems to be Locke's attitude now. But to take all the 'others' with him for proof and protection is smart!

Black Swan said...

Good point, sayid'sgirl! I guess that's Radzinski's 'baby' so to speak and it's all important to him. I doubt he has a clue why the Swan is important, though. His ego is just stroked because the 'inner circle' trusted him with this project, maybe? IDK.. LOL!

Black Swan said...

I feel really bad for both Sawyer and Juliet. That's a hard situation to be in for both of them.

Tess315 said...

I guess I better get to bed. See you guys tomorrow.

Anonymous said...

So John is going to kill Jacob. IMO I believe that John is Jacob. It seems that RA is getting bothered by John and took it to lengths in a different time to tie him up, which the open eye of Jacob sees John and asks for help when he goes with Ben. By John killing Jacob he releases his old self to become new, hence being reborn in actual time. Ben's face when John said he's going to kill Jacob seemed like, "you are going to kill yourself??" That also seems reasonable since John is so in touch with the island now that he knows what comes next by previous trial and error in the time skipping. He became Jacob. Sorry if I jumped a lot or missed a lot.

Unknown said...

Biggest reveal of all tonight: Richard alleges to have seen the flash, but did not himself flash. Remind anyone of when Ben said he pushed the button when Locke was stuck under the blast door, but may or may not have actually pushed it?

maven said...

We have an out of control fire in Santa Barbara, so there were a lot of updates...wonder if we missed anything in the show...it doesn't seem so.

Really, really loved this episode. Things are beginning to make sense and come together at last!

So Jughead is under New Otherton? WOW!

If Ellie was 17 in 1954 she would be 42 in 1977? She doesn't look 42!

Did Richard mean that everyone from DI died when he talked with Sun? Was he referring to the Purge or Incident?

Very funny scene with Hurley failing the "when were you born" test and "who's the President" with Chang. LOL

Locke must truly be the Leader now....he's the one orchestrating everything and telling Richard what to say to the other Locke! He's pulling all the strings and fulfilling his purpose.

Richard certainly seems very surprised with the course of events. He doesn't seem to know what happened happened.

Locke sure seems like a Christian-like figure now.

Sawyer to Juliet: "Sweetheart" Awwwww.

Ratzinksy is sure a RAT! Maybe Kelvin blew his brains out!

Yes....Sayid to the rescue. Great moment!

Funny with Sawyer figuring out how they'll be rich buying Microsoft and betting on football! lol

The Tunnels exist!

Ben seems to know what is happening all the time, while Richard doesn't. What is Ben's plan now?

Oh, the sub scene with Sawyer and Juliet....too sweet...until SHE shows up. Triangle-city again!

How is Locke going to kill Jacob?

maven said...

Agree now with you guys that Locke is figuratively going to kill the myth of Jacob. By taking everyone along for the ride on this Pilgrimage to Jacob, he's going to reveal the truth about the "man behind the curtain".

Tess315 said...

Why are the 06 plus Locke the only ones who were jumping through time? Is this part of their destiny?

Turning the donkey wheel sends you through time and you exit in Tunisa.

But it's doesn't appear to be how the DI or the Others/Hostiles traveled off the island. Except maybe Ben.

Widmore is aware that Tunisa is the exit. How long has he known that. He also knows you travel through time when you exit? But there doesn't seem to be a set time of travel since Widmore asked Locke how long it had been since he'd seen him.

Why is it Richard excepts the time travel once Locke comes back but didn't seem to be aware of it before.

Why does Ben seem to know so much? What did he think would happen if he had actually killed Locke.

Who put the wheel there and how long has it been there.

Will they really change their future with the bomb?
Maybe they will since Ms. Hawkings no longer seems to know what happens next. Or maybe it's not the bomb that changes things.

I'm trying to get all this destiny time travel purpose sorted out in my head. But I don't think that's going to happen. lol

Thought it was funny Juliet said "we are not bad people".

Tess315 said...

Does Ben know so much because he was taken to the temple? (Forgot to add that in my previous post)

memphish said...

So Richard has always been there and doesn't age and can leave the Island and is an adviser. He seems to have acted to facilitate Widmore's removal from the Island, perhaps by slipping Ben a file like he slipped Sawyer's to Locke. Then he worked on getting Ben removed by helping Locke. And now he's starting to regret working with Locke. So did Richard create the myth of Jacob? Then Ben discovered it was false so he became Richard's new chosen one and perpetuated the myth?

But doesn't Ben say when he turns the wheel, "I hope you're happy Jacob?" He wouldn't say that if Jacob wasn't real would he?

And both Ben and Richard are surprised and confused by the flashing. I think we speculated that the Others were special and that's why they didn't flash, but I think it's the case that those who did flash are the ones who are special. I know this is a little Fringe/Alias-ish, but were these 815ers and Island children experimented on earlier in life and that's what makes them different? That's an old theory, but then again, so was the tunnels.

memphish said...

And where is Amy and baby Ethan during all this? Do they leave on the sub, but then Ethan comes back to steal Alex?

Tess315 said...

I guess I'm the only one who thinks Locke is drunk with power.
He still has that don't tell me what I can't do mentality. But now he thinks he has the power to make people listen to him.

I don't look for that to last very long. I'm sure Ben has a plan to stop that.
This is the first time that I might actually trust Ben and hope he does have a plan.

memphish said...

You aren't the only who thinks that about Locke Sayid's Girl. I was just reading the same sentiment on Mo Ryan's blog. But I disagree. I love large and in charge Locke. I'm sure Ben will work to undermine it. Those two are like Eve and the Serpent. Question is if Richard will be the standing by passive Adam or if he'll intervene, or Sun, or Cindy and the kids. Dang it I want to know where they and Rose and Bernard are!

Unknown said...

That closing shot of Ben's face was, I'm starting to suspect, another one of those "here, viewers, empathize with Ben" moments. To be followed soon by "here, viewers, watch Ben kill Keamy and doom everyone on the freighter" moments.

Tess315 said...

Yes he does say I hope you're happy Jacob. So Ben at least believes Jacob is real.

I never thought Ben was surprised by the time jumps. But I may be wrong in that assumption.

After the first season I thought there was some kind of experimentation going on, but with the 815ers. I keep coming back to that thought from time to time. So I don't think it's a stretch for it to have been experimentation on them as children not adults.

memphish said...

So if Jughead is under a village, that's presumably Dharmaville, right? And so the place where Jack, Sayid, Ellie and Richard are with Jughead is under the Barracks and probably somehow connected with the Smokey room from Ben's Dharma house right? So maybe once the Others move into DI-town they connect the house to the tunnels.

memphish said...

I love this image from Ack Attack.

Tess315 said...

That makes sense to me. It would also explain the water in the Smokey room. But not the drain plug.

memphish said...

There is so much going on right now it's mind-boggling.

Jack, Sayid, Ellie and Richard are under Dharmaville with a bomb. They need to take that bomb to the Swan. Radzinsky has a map to the Others, but he's also insisting that the Swan drilling start on schedule, so where will he, Phil and the other psychotic Dharma men be with bomb goes off at Swan? (Presuming said explosion.)

Jin, Hurley and Miles are at the dock and I'm not sure where they'll go next. Back to the beach?

Sawyer, Kate, Juliet, baby Miles and young Charlotte (yuck this could bring her back to life) are on the sub probably heading first to the Looking Glass and then onward, but they could be in blast radius if they get held up at the Looking Glass.

Locke, Sun, Ben, and Alpert!(again) are in 2007 heading to Jacob.

Bram, Ilana, Frank and the shadow people are on route to the main Island. We still haven't seen them get shot at by Juliet.

Rose, Bernard, Cindy, kids and Vincent are AWOL.

Is that all? :-)

Capcom said...

'Morning LoCos! Very helpful comments!

LOL Amused about Dr. Strangelove.

Well, maybe if James and Juliet were meant to be together, the Universe will course correct them back in touch again.

Right Maven, that hit me too...the bomb's under the village?! :-o

But Locke doesn't seem like a Christian figure to me. And the problem with Locke-in-charge, is that he never consults with anyone else as to whether or not he's making the right decision. It's either "I'm completely right" or "I'm completely wrong" with that guy. Either way, no one can tell him what to do or even suggest that he might be outof line. Yuk.

Good one Kyle about the viewer moments. :-)

I wonder how they did, and will, move the bomb? Will it be like how that guy in Florida moved those tons of coral to make the coral castle via antigravity? The island's properties should be up for that trick.

I'm guessing now that Rad shoots himself because he knows that his own ass-ness is the reason that he is stuck in the Swan forever, pushing the button to contain the problem that he made in the first place. :o)

Melissa_Lossa said...

I'm wondering if the Others somehow got Smokey to put the bomb down there?

How does Radzinsky end up trapped in the Swan - and why does he draw the blast door map and edit the film?

Why was Radzinsky all of a sudden in charge? He made a big deal about telling several people that Horace wasn't in charge anymore - who decided?

My wild theory for the finale/next season is that Jack is successful in fixing it so that 815 never crashes. But things "leak over" somehow. I like that and I don't - it does seem a little too much like the set up for this season.

Capcom said...

Maybe Rad made the map to try and remember where everything was as time passed, since they can't leave the Swan for long enough to scout the island. If they had hopes of actually being relieved of their post eventually, he might have just been keeping track of everything that happened and what was there before. Why he painted it in invisible ink is up for grabs.

And maybe he edited the Swan film to remove the part that was his fault, leaving only the ambiguous "Incident" reference? If he does indeed cause the drilling incident, a guy as volatile as that might also have flaming emotional problems about mistakes made as well. ???

Capcom said...

Oh yeah, that's a good idea about Smokey moving the bomb Melissa. :-)

i think that the "jacob" that john saw with ben in the cabin was an old version of locke. I think he either wants to kill jacob to take his place or to let christain take his place.

Was richard conve with locke while he stitched him up EXACTLY the same as the first time or was there slight changes to wording like the illusion dock scene?

How could Ben not know about yemmi's plane? He was at the pearl with julliette in that nikki and paulo episode when it was right there.

I can see why widomre isn't in the loop with future hawkings as much because he didn't go on the whole jughead mission with richard and jack.

I wonder if being exposed to radiation in the womb is what made Dan such a good time skipper and so smart. He was one of the only ones to never get a bloody nose during the flashes. Sort of like desmond having a pecial status from being expoised to so much electromagnatism in the swan.

I seriously don't think jack could detonate jughead even if he wanted to. Even if he blew off some dynamite it would probably just leak more radiation, not blow up. Perhaps bringing jughead to the swan is what supercharged the electromagnet in the swan that caused this whole time loop and time travel to be possible on the island.

I got the feeling again that Ben is playing stupid once again. The only thing that truly surprised him was that locke wanted to kill Jacob.

I think that there is the possibility that this is a transitional time for the island, and maybe Ben is losing his memories from the last iteration of the timeline. If 2007 time passes for the 77'ers in the same fashion the change that jack and co are about to make to the timeline won't truly change things in 2007 until jack does it in the parallel time in 1977. Sorry if this is confusing, but in the same way that 3 yrs passed for the 06 as the lafluer crew in '77. The time that's passing ind '77 and 2007 are synced up. So for instance if jack was able to put himself back in 2007, as many days as he was in dharma in 1977 would have passed for the people in 2007 on the ajira plane.

I like how Locke really anointed himself the leader of the others through his time tripping, ironic that when the time flashes started locke had no regard for changing the time line, but now he is desperately trying to preserve his time flash history that ended in his death and resurrection.

It's also interesting that dead locke is so confident he doesn't care about having the love of his people anymore. Before he would have been happy just to be the leader.

This time locke said that Ben has never talked to jacob, not that jacob doesn't exist. Before Locke seemed to think jacob might not exist, but now he seems sure that he does. I don't think he meant he was gonna figuratively kill "jacob" the idea, i think he is gonna try to kill jacob the person.

2costa said...

what i meant in the last post is that "jacob" wasn't the real jacob, the producers saying that the person in the rocking chair wasn't gonna be the actor to play jacob, was a clue to us that is never was the real jacob, just some trick by Ben.

I almost forgot!

I believe Sawyer said he'd bet on the '78 Super Bowl. . . someone that taped it could check that.

I remember we talked about that when we were trying to figure out the timeline - someone mentioning the Super Bowl.

memphish - I just have to thank you for turning me on to Ack Attack. I read this line from "The Variable" like an hour ago, and it is STILL making me laugh:

Daniel: You have to evacuate the Island!! Every man, woman, and child! Jack can go first since he’s all three!

Yes Sawyer said he'd bet on the 1978 superbowl, which would have been in January.

Tess315 said...

Oh, but we still don't know how far off that is from when they are now. It could be 1977 or early January 1978.

LOL!

Interesting points 2costa. I also have wondered how they are going to detonate a bomb without the detonation mechanism. I think that H-bombs are a series of detonations. Maybe they can be exploded "accidentally" or without the proper electronic starter, as there is what's called a "critical accident" where a nuclear chain reaction can happen when fissile materials are exposed. ??? There have been a few incidents in history like that. And like you said, if they get it near the energy area, who knows how it would affect the bomb? :-o

Tess315 said...

Here's a thought. They may not have buried the bomb under where the Swan would be built.
But they may take it under the Swan through the tunnels. I'm still thinking that's what the covered in cememt.
We'll see.

Honestly, that little scene in the sub before SHE showed up was worth the hour. See, that's all they have to do to keep me happy - just five minutes of Sawyer and Juliet looking happy per episode and I'm good. . .it's not much to ask.

LOL

I agree Lost2010, that was awesome.

I know it sounds crazy but could Ilana have a hydrogen bomb in her crate?

Probably not I think they were carrying it.
Oh well just a thought.

In case you missed it, in the last OLP Audio version, Damon and Carlton described Faraday's new approach to changing whatever happened happened in the following analogy. If time is a stream and you throw in a pebble there will be no change, but if you throw in a boulder you might create a new channel for the stream. Supposedly Faraday was going to say that to Kate and Jack, but it got cut.

I like that analogy. That Dan is so good at the 'splainin'.

I've gotten so spoilerphobic that I'm a week behind on my OLPs, so sorry if everyone but me already knew that.

I quit listening to the OLP when they had the contest to name their special finale scene and gave the finale title.

Which was probably about a month or so ago.

lost2010 said...

So, do we all know the finale title by now? Just curious. I know I learned about it in a thread titled - 'I wish you people would quit spoiling everybody' - or something like that. :)

Tess315 said...

I've known for awhile. It really aggravated me. It wasn't a surprise but that's beside the point. To me anyway.

Hi All. Not been around for a while. So Hi. :)

Am I the only one with a sneaking suspicion that Jack may be Jacob. Kinda trapped in some kind of time flux as part of what he's up to now. I'm probably wrong, but it would explain a lot. From why he was apparently asking Locke to help him to why Christian seems to be his spokesperson.

Anyway, another side note. I'm also very much wondering if the old black/white stone Adam & Eve is Rose and Bernard. That they didn't change time zones with the rest when they jumped out of the 40's and that they lived out the rest of their lives at the caves. The black and white stones make sense as a hint, though I know it's a little bit of a disappointing conclusion to one of our earliest "big" clues.

Radzinskys such a Douche Bag, I'm kinda glad he blew his own brains out in the Swan. The fact that he knew so much about Dharma, but then later felt the need to make a vague map on the blast door and randomly edit a bit out of the Swan video is a little strange. I suspect he lost it a tad (he seems the type to go mad). Perhaps he decided to communicate with someone (on the same wavelength? Perhaps Mikhail, especially if he was at the Flame at the time) and decided to remove the bit about the computer in the reel to make it seem like it was okay to do that.

Okay, that's all, for now. :)

Hey fenris
How odd I was looking at your myspace page today and wondering where you'd been.

lost2010 said...

SG - Exactly! That's how I felt about the promo last night.

Hi Fenris!

maven said...

Hey, Fenris...good to hear from you!

I like Capcom's idea that Radzinsky blows out his brains after losing it because he realizes that his stubbornness somehow helped create the incident that in turn created the 108 button. He might have edited out the tape to hid mentioning of the "incident" (although it's on the blast door map).

I know the title for next week and it doesn't bother me a bit!

2costa said...

i agree that radzinsky probably got a little case of the faraday brain mash from the electromagntism in the swan, and maybe the map was to remind him of stuff he used to know about the island. Lets not forget there were two authors of the blastdoor map. Perhaps the technical stuff like about vents and station numbers was radzinsky, but latin was someone associated with the others. I can also see radzinsky only putting a question mark for the pearl because he didn't want future button pushers to know about the pearl and the fact they were being watched in the swan by the pearl.

i got the feeling that jughead was directly underneath the barracks the way eloise said they built a whole village above it.

i thought locke in 2007 was playing a chess game through time. The opposing player put Ethan in a position to shoot locke in a time flash, and his next move was to send richard to stitch him up, to nullify the last move.

I think locke acting like jacob is not calling the shots or is just a figure head is a redux of season 2 and locke thinking that the swan button didn't matter and subsequently destroying the swan. I think we will find that jacob is very important. I cant see Ben saying" I hope your happy, jacob" when he was turning the donkey wheel with nobody watching him was important.

One thing that seemed very clear this week is that "the island" or whatever locke perceives as the island's will and jacob's will are 2 distinctly different things, much as i speculated that smokey and ghost alex were totally differnt in "dead is dead".

I think they can move jughead because it has a cart with wheels now, smokey seems to crazy to move it. As ben said he can summon smokey, but not control it.

2costa said...

sorry i meant ben talking to jacob in the donkey wheel room with noone watching was important.

Capcom said...

Hey Fenris, great to see you here! Hope that all is well for you across the pond. Interesting theory on why Jack would be Jacob.

When I found out the title of the finale it was a relief! But then again, I myself don't worry too much about titles...but, I did hate the preview last night, for the first time ever. I really wanted "______" to be true forever.

Heheh, I find it difficult to think that Radzinsky would be intelligent or esoteric enough to write Latin on the BDM too, 2costa. Although, Kelvin did some additions of his own as well, and I can see him knowing Latin, he was a man of the world.

lost2010 said...

Maybe they'll surprise us and the promo was a 'foiler'.

Fenris said...

2costa, good point about the Latin. Perhaps Inman was an other all along and the reason for the Latin. Perhaps he was the one "on the same wavelength", came to the hatch, killed Radzinsky, but then realized the importance of his role and found himself stuck there (Maybe as punishment by the other others he wasn't relieved and had to stay there).

Maven, That makes a lot of sense, though I'm now starting to think along the lines of the above. But if Inman didn't kill him, that still makes sense.

Actually though, with the Others (or Widmore Others) seemingly keen on getting people "where they need to be", that fits really well for Inman with his involvement with Sayid. Maybe he was a Widmore Other and that is why he had to stay alone at the Hatch rather then having other others help out.

That would also totally fit with Desmonds involvement. I've said for a while I thought Widmore was manipulating Desmond the whole time. This actually really makes a LOT of sense right now!

Capcom, gotta agree about the preview. Kinda wished I hadn't watched that. But your right, the title itself is a bit of a relief.

Sayid'sgirl, that reminds me, I really should update my myspace sometime!

Fenris said...

Oh an additional - If Widmore was behind the bulk of the manipulation of getting the Losties back to the island and meddling with their lives. Maybe the whole point of all of that was to get Jack or someone to do what he is going to try and change history, which being at a time when Widmore is still on the island may avoid him ever having been usurped and get him what he really wants!

That would be one advantage he'd have over Ben. He'd know ben would want to get back to the island, but playing for the long win he also knows Ben would be too young and effected by the temples healing memory loss thing to figure out what his motivation was. He get's all the losties (and Desmond) into position so that things can play out for them to attempt to avoid the incident and change things back to the way he wants it.

Capcom said...

Hmm, that's a good thought.

You know, I wouldn't mind too very much if this whole story ends up being one continuous eternal loop. I mean as an admonition about the dangers of time travel, i.e., just because you can do something, doesn't mean that you should, cuz you just might get trapped in a loop of "misery" (Jack's word) forever. :o)

I probably wouldn't mind about the title if I'd just found out. But I've know for around a month.

It's going to turn out like the loop in The Third Policeman. That's what my sister keeps saying jokingly.

fenris
I like your theory on Jack.

I'm still trying to figure out who the puppet master is in this show.

memphish said...

The Third Policeman confused me so much that if it was exactly like TTP I wouldn't understand a thing.

Have you seen the sites reporting today about Damon explaining the numbers? It's just a rehash of TLE. I don't understand why so many "casuals" haven't figured it out about the numbers. Don't they know about Lostpedia? If not, should we tell them or should they be punished for their ignorance? It makes me feel a little like Ben.

Capcom said...

Heheh, I knnw Memphish, some peeps are still asking about what the numbers mean, why were they put on the hatch, etc. Nubes. ;-D

Tess315 said...

I really liked The Third Policeman. It was quirky and weird. I did figure out what was going on before the end. But it had me second guessing myself several times.
