When Jack's health is seriously compromised, Kate and Juliet must learn to work together in order to save him. It doesn't seem like there's much nice going down on the island, I wonder what is so nice back home?

Okay, I'll stop. :) I don't know why I find that so exciting!
Here you are.... sneaky
LOL Melissa_lossa!
Everyone have fun in a few minutes on EST!
Hey, maven! Thanks for joining in on VALIS today!
W00t! Ready to go. If you haven't seen 30 Rock yet -- watch it. Hi-lar-i-ous.
Thanks maven! ((((pity hugs))) sorry you can't be here in our space and time....
According to VALIS, all space and time is happening simultaneously, so in a way, maven's here with us, right?
watch your tone, red... lol
Get 'er, Rose!
I tried to listen in to the live podcast but I couldn't without calling in, and I didn't have my cell handy with me- is that new?
Kate is a skank! So do we think this is before or after the trial? After I guess from the Star Wars toy.
Heh. 'Gee, that sounds a lot like Kate. I bet it's Kate.... yup.'
when is this? why the star wars toy on the floor?
dark - I had the same problem. I couldn't get through on the phone, and I couldn't hear on my computer. Not sure what the problem was.
I recognized Kate's house, but what did they do to her voice? She didn't really want to be identified?
I don't know from the baseball, but the Millenium Falcon is probably Aaron's, right?
Jack must live there, too - didn't he get that phone call on a land line?
GRRR THUNDERSTORM WARNING BEEPINGS KEEP COVERING UP DIALOGUE.
Dark - Here too!
I KNEW K and J would be together! Yea!!!
ok, so it's post Kate trial, pre- we have to go back
I totally called the Appendacitis, but I have a problem with it. There would be no passing out. I had it and so did three of my friends and no one had that symptom, as far as I know it isn't that. The drugs he is taking must be what is making him loose conciousness.
Also, was that Alex's voice searching for Karl and Danielle?
Sorry Darkaardvark. That's annoying.
Anyone recognize the story? Was it Alice in Wonderland? I thought he said Alice, but I didn't recognize what he read about "who am I."
And what was Sawyer's nickname for Miles? I cannot believe they've killed Danielle. So TPTB have lied for 3 years at ComicCon about her flashback? That was a really cool, but really gross scene.
I am now a Conmama shipper. I want Claire and Sawyer to be a couple back on the Island.
poor Rousseau and Carl... I thought Rousseau at least would maybe recover
It's interesting how they are showing us an on Island story coupled with a future flash that clearly shows us Jack's on Island drama is resolved positively for him. I hope there's some twist still.
Okay, I'm counting on one of you book clubbers tracking down that story!
I can't believe Danielle is really dead.
It sounded like Sawyer called Miles "donner"? Not sure it makes much sense, though.
Seriously?!? He wants to watch? I literally asked my hubby to kill me if they didn't get there with the morphine.
Today I was watching Deadliest Catch, and one of the fisherman smashed his finger. They had to do something very gross to relieve that pressure under his nail. What? I couldn't tell you, because I couldn't watch. There's no way I could watch my own appendectomy!
Donner like the Donner party? The reindeer? Weird.
They should so hold Charlotte hostage. If Charlotte kills Jin I will kill Charlotte.
Yeah for Rose, the voice of the viewer -- why did Jack get sick and why now? And if it involves Christian Shephard, why isn't his daughter off the Island too?
That off Island sequence was FANTASTIC!
Donner is Dutch for deer. German too I think.
Looks like Jack's going to have a visit from Christian, yes?
Is Jack's vistor going to be his dad?
confusion setting in... looks like Charlie visits Hurley all the time.. Hurley says their all dead? Christian walking in the corridor... will be visiting Jack soon... Jack shouldn't be raising Aaron? (but it's ok for Kate?)
Poor Hurley - sounds like Charlie's been a constant presence.
TPTB still insist we will be seeing more of Danielles story, even after they knew she was dead, we didn't, but they did.
The baby can not be raised by another... duh duh duh... lol
Jack is going to get a visit from either
Ben, Sayid, Or (insert creepy laugh) his Dad
Shark = Jumped... lol ... j/k
Well, obviously they don't get married - or at least, they don't stay married.
Love Lapidus... hate Keamy
Are we really more than halfway through this episode? *yawn* Better be a good twist. And yeah, I'm sure Jack's getting a visit from his dad.
Do you think they could be dead like Hurley says?
Maybe Aaron can't be raised by another sibling or Sheppard or who knows.
This episode is all a little confusing isn't it? lol
Is it just me, or does Miles seem overly interested in Aaron?
Ooooohhhhh! Interesting thought Sayid's Girl
It could also be Claire that he gets a visit from.
What are the two lines Jin speaks preceding "I'll break your fingers"? It was blocked out by the weather report.
Can anyone tell me what Jin said to Charlotte just before the break his fingers thing? Darn storm warnings...
I'm usually the last to connect the dots, and I might anyways, but in case I'm not the only one who just figured it out, here goes:
This is why Jack was making weird references about his Dad in Through the Looking Glass. Because he was having visions of his dad, and it was severely messing with his head.
Ah, the first prescription.
okay WHAT?!
OMG!
That prescription was for the same meds Hurley's supposed to be on so that he doesn't see people who aren't there. I doubt you're supposed to take it with beer.
Jin said that he knew Charlotte could understand him because she smiled when he and Sun were talking about her, and that if she didn't stop lying about it, he was going to hurt Dan.
Wow, Christian's all over the place!
I was thinking the same thing about Miles's interest in Aaron. A bit creepy.
And so is Bernard. When did he turn into MacGyver?
I still don't trust Juliet!
So we got one confirmed alive on the island so far. Sawyer.
Oh, man... if Jack's story shows how the flashforwards can make some of the episodes weaker, Claire just showed us the flipside... that could conceivably be the last we see of Claire... for a long time.
Good point, ded!
We might also have an explanation as to how Claire and Aaron get separated. Who wants to bet she ends up in Jacob's cabin?
Notice that Jack said Kate wasn't related to Aaron as if he knew that he was?
Christian, in chronological order:
-Dead
-Telling Vincent to go wake up Jack
-Making Jack chase him around(?)
-Not in his coffin
-In Jacob's cabin
-With Claire
wow, for next week... the guy who got Roger Linus his job on the island... forgot his name (goodspeed?) says he's been dead 12 years?????
We need a LOST definition of DEAD
Horace Goodspeed indeed.
Great ending...wonder if this is where Claire and Jack find out they are siblings?...
xxoo
No way, Claire will definitely be given a good treatment in her story. They wouldn't just drop her like that. My guess is that since X-tian took her away, she is being brought to Jacob, and since we know where John, Ben, and Hurley are going, we will see her again soon... I hope.
What do you think Kate was doing for Sawyer, checking in on his daughter maybe???
We need a LOST definition of DEAD
Dead- n.
1. Not dead.
2. Scheduled to appear in more episodes than when previously not dead.
Marking a spot for email...
xxoo
So we have at least a piece of the timeline - the purge was 12 years ago.
Yeah, I think it was Horace Goodspeed.
I missed the part about Kate doing something for Sawyer... tech problems of my own... what did she say? (glad I have vcr backup)
ded - That's what I was thinking... and Sawyer didn't want anyone to know about her, right?
Overall a good episode! Of course, I had terribly low expectations going in. There was a lot of good dialogue like Kate telling Jack to "just let it go," always one of Jack's problems.
I bet Kate was meeting with Cassidy to give her something for Clementine. I want to see the scene where Sawyer tells Kate how to do that.
I love how they've dealt with the Claire/Aaron separation.
But here's my big question for the night -- Smokey didn't kill any of those guys?
If Kate was checking in on Clementine, maybe she's reconnected with Cassidy?
I had to rewatch that part with Kate and Jack at the end too. My technical problem consisted of Hubby getting ice out of the door of the fridge -- very noisy. She said that she had to do something for him. Jack asked for who. She admits for Sawyer, that she promised Sawyer she would do it, and she didn't tell Jack because Sawyer wouldn't want her to.
Memphish. Good point.
Just marking a place for e-mail.
I thought the same thing, memphish - did Smokey just rough them up a little?
thanks, memphish
Looks like Smokey only really roughed up one. I guess with a lack of trees in the immediate Othersville compound, it could not put a whupping on as it had done previously.
The purge being 12 years ago would jive with Mikhail's story.
melissa
Bernard's McGyver and Jin's the new Sayid. He's going to break Jin's fingers one by one.
His plan must be how he and Sun get separated.
memphish said...
But here's my big question for the night -- Smokey didn't kill any of those guys?
Thank you, exactly my primary question...
So why did Keamy's crew take the time to bury Danielle and Karl? Seems like dragging them off the path into that grass would have been just as effective given the in/out nature of their mission.
I love that Jin caught on about Charlotte the same way Kate caught on about Sun--the smile giving away understanding of the language.
Hey, with Sayid on freighter duty, someone has to dole out the a** whoopings. Might as well be Jin!
I also noticed that future Jack told Kate that he was the one who "saved her." Interesting.
Well, looks like my most wacky theory from the previous thread turned out to be the most correct!
Other thoughts:
-Yes, I think Jack spoke the last line to Kate with the knowledge that he was related to Aaron. Whether Kate knows it, however, is another thing altogether.
-Did anyone else connect the SMOKE detector malfunction with the appearance of dead Christian in the hospital lobby?
-Miles definitely knows something about Claire and Aaron. And "restraining order" joke or not, I think he's okay with it.
-Nice to see someone call someone else on a lie, but what is Charlotte still keeping from Jin and everyone else?
-I knew TPTB wouldn't cast Doug Hutchison without having a plan to use him again in the future!
So Sayid'sgirl,
Jin is going to break his own fingers if Charlotte doesn't stop lying... lol
So did ny one answer my question of, Was it Alex's voice that Myles heard at D and K's graves?
Doug Hutchison rules. Tooms is one of the greatest X-Files episodes EVER.
I wonder if Miles heard something from Christian when he came for Claire?
Wait a minute...if the purge happened 12 years ago, but Ben stole Danielle 16 years ago...something isn't adding up.
Yay Juliet for a no-complications surgery on Jack! Yay Bernard for his mad doc skilz! Yay Rose for threatening Charlotte (also shoutout to Jin for the same)!
Yes, Ded, I think Kate was checking on Clemintine for Sawyer. Maybe it involves Cassidy too. But why couldn't she tell Jack?
Sorry I missed the VALIS podcast. I'm sure it was a mindblowing discussion.
Yeah Ded he's going to break his own fingers. Jeez! lol
ded - I just re-watched it, and it IS Alex's voice that Miles hears. It sounds like the audio from the shooting scene. You can hear the bullets or darts whizzing by and then Alex says "Karl? Karl? Mom!"
Dedjezter, I'm bad at hearing and interpreting the whispers. I'll keep a look out for that info. though and let you know.
Nice call on the SMOKE Kyle.
There were a lot of callbacks like Jack staking out the bench to see if Charlie would show up like he stalked Sarah.
My favorite thing was how much Sawyer, Miles, Claire and Aaron hiding from Keamy and his crew reminded me of the end of The Sound of Music when the family hides in the cemetery from the Nazis.
So why do you think Christian took Claire but left Aaron?
My favorite thing was how much Sawyer, Miles, Claire and Aaron hiding from Keamy and his crew reminded me of the end of The Sound of Music when the family hides in the cemetery from the Nazis.
Or in S2 when Eko & Jin had to hide from the Others walking by.

This island time is getting stranger and stranger.
Oh and since ded pointed out my typo. Ben stole Alex.
I was just joking with you amused. Sometimes I offend without meaning too.
Great call on the 12 vs. 16 years -- I can't wait to find out what's up with that.
Lostit -- I don't know why Christian would leave Aaron. That's the big mystery of the night.
LOL, Sayid'sgirl, don't worry. I had to read your post several times before I even caught on the mistake I'd made.
rofl
And why isn't Jack supposed to raise him? Was Jack not supposed to take Aaron off the Island? Is that what really has to happen is that they have to take Aaron back?
Good point on the 12 vs 16 years. Is it possible that Ben took Alex and left her with the "natives" until after the purge? Although it seems like if she didn't live with him until she was four, she would remember some of what came before that.
Another question is - why would Claire leave Aaron behind? She's so protective of him.
How would Danielle have survived the Purge? How would she have had a gas mask to do that?
The biggest question about Aaron is who's going to feed him?
memphish
I like that idea. The island wants Aaron back.
But you'd think it would make it easy to find the island again.
It would have made more sense if the message was that "She's not supposed to raise him", meaning Kate since she's not blood related and Jack is.
But Jack is the one who isn't supposed to raise Aaron...hmm.
I think the book Jack was reading was an Alice book. I'm going to check my copy.
memphish
Maybe they have Dharma formula.
Or I guess coconut milk could work maybe.
Good point, memphish!
I wonder if we'll see a flashback sometime that shows Ben taking Alex - that might fill in some of the gaps.
DarkUFO has a screencap of the paper with the story about the Yankees and Red Sox. Maybe we'll be able to pin down a date with that.
They made a big point tonight about Claire breastfeeding Aaron, so I assume they're going to deal with it soon.
I made the comment once upon a time that the dead people who appeared of their own volition to the living on the Island were the ones that weren't buried.
I don't think she was Breast feeding him. I am almost positive that she gave him water and then was just holding him close. It didn't seem to me that he was feeding.
That has seemed to be the case Kyle. Do you think Keamy's people knew that and therefore buried Danielle and Karl? And what about the Dharma pit? Don't you think Ben would have known that too? Or does he want to talk to Horace?
And fire up the wikipedia -- isn't Horace some god of knowledge or something?
According to This Wiki Page, the Yankees swept the Red Sox in August, 2006.
Ded -- the implication was that she was going to breastfeed him. The water is for the nursing mom. Trust me. That's why Sawyer was making sure Miles didn't watch.
darnnnnn, I'm having so many tech problems tonight....
good point, Kyle... so, who buried Carl and Rousseau? And... what about all those dharma skeletons in the ditch.. they weren't really buried..
lol, you beat me to it, memphish
From the Dark screencaps, the newspaper Jack sees is dated 8/31/07....confusing, given the rough date we have for TTLG's flash-forward.
So, would this be the zombie season of Lost now?
So we agree to disagree then... lol
Dark UFO also has screen caps showing that Jack does NOT have an appendectomy scar in the future. Interesting.
Were Keamy and crew under orders from Widmore to bury any bodies they dispatched? Does Widmore know about the tricks of the Island?
That is interesting ML. If we go with the sweep thing, the date is August 22, 2006 which to me at least makes more sense than late 2007. There's no headline like that in the LA Times archive though. (Nerd)
memphish
Are you thinking there will be someone to feed Aaron where ever Christian has taken him?
Cody'smom,
I had the same thought... Zombies away. Maybe TPTB have a definition of Zombie that we don't... lol
The scar issue is a nonstarter. The scar would be lower than those caps show. (i commented on it over there too)
I don't have an appendix, and I don't think you'd be able to see his scar given where his towel sits and where my scar is.
Of course, he's got much better abs than I do, so it might be a little higher. But still...
X-tian didn't take Arron, just Claire, who would Claire have to feed then... Jacob.... eeeewwwwww creepy... lol
Thanks, Kyle - I still have my appendix, so I have no idea where the scar would be. :)
LOL Ded!
I can guarantee you that the paper is dated 8/31/07.
I was thinking Kate's trial was in 2006 based on how long Kate's mom had been sick and Aaron appears to be about 2 or 21/2. But were not sure how long after the trial Jack moved in with Kate. But I'm going to guess 2006.
But then again this could have something to with island time again.
Kyle - where do you see the date on the paper? I'm getting drowsy, and I don't see it. :)
My scar is three inches to the right and two inches down from my belly button, but I also have three scars from the surgery. One where I said, one on the top side of my belly button for the clamp insertion and one on the left side where they put the scope in. However, the one on the right would be the only one need the old fashion way.
Well I can't join in the conversation yet, but I only have 10 more minutes til showtime. It really stinks to be so far behind everyone! Talk to ya'll later (or maybe tomorrow)!
I had the feeling Kate was pregnant from her "crackers always make me feel better" quip from the last episode. Does this mean she'd be the perfect baby-mommy for Aaron (even if she miscarries her own)?
I had my appendix removed in 1985. One scar, just shy of four inches long.
As for the paper date, you've got to go by the baseball scores. Yankees beat Red Sox 5-0, and Cleveland beats Seattle 6-5. 8/30/07. Thus, the paper is dated 8/31/07.
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/scoreboard/20070830.html
Where ever Claire and Aaron are (I keep typing the wrong names.) He may need a wet nurse.
Okay, This Site shows that the Red Sox lost to the Yankees on August 28, 29 and 30, 2007.
So the 8/31/07 date could be accurate.
I was thinking, if there is breast feeding involved, Sun is further along so wouldn't she be a better choice. Also there could be a log carrier/sock that from the lactattion porn industry... j/k
no hate mail please... lol
Boy I hope not Codysmom. I've had it with potential pregnancies on this Island.
I have confirmed that the Yankees swept the Red Sox in as of August 30, 2007 as well. So that would mean bearded future Jack is in 2008 or beyond like in 2010 and he has an old, not a new phone, right?
Thanks, Kyle! Wow, how can you even read that? :) My eyes must be getting tired.
"who would Claire have to feed then"
You just totally grossed me out there Ded. :-D
Great comments everyone!
So, off to bed. Good night!
This visit by Jack to Hurley was after the one we saw in episode 4.1 right? So Jack didn't grow a beard right away, but agreed with Hurley it would be weird.
But the coffin scene was in April 2007. This doesn't add up. The coffin scene had to be after this.
Could there have been a mistake with the April date for the coffin?
Lostit, I don't think we ever got a real confirmation that the info. from the obituary was legit. The way we got that date was the story next to it which was a legit LA Times story. I don't think TPTB have ever confirmed that "translation" of the obit though or nailed down a date.
good nite, melissa!
memphish, yes I think this visit by Jack to see Hurley was after the one where they're playing basketball. I thought it was interesting that not only does Hurley visit with Charlie often, but Charlie also tells him what will happen in the future..
I'm wondering how long after the trail did Jack change his mind nad moved in with Kate? And why does Hurley know Jack didn't want anything to do with Aaron?
According to Lostpedia, they say that the obit was never meant to be seen and is not canon (as per TPTB) and they have plans to re-write what was in it, just like the stuff from Ben's Journal which was never meant to be seen, but at least Emerson is proffesional enough to make what he was writing seem legit... lol
Night all! I'm sure I'll be working on timeline in my head all night. I think Jack was in a different kitchen when he saw Hurley crash in Ep 4.1, so at a minimum I'd say Hurley went to Santa Rosa pre-end of Kate's trial. Kate's trial ends. Jack changes mind and moves in. Jack goes back to see Hurley, blah, blah, blah. It's odd that no one has intersected with Sayid yet in the future but Ben.
One last thing--Sledgeweb has this on the newspaper:
Jack's picks up this paper near the beginning of episode 4x10, "Something Nice Back Home". The paper announces the Yankees sweep of the Boston Red Sox, which places this flash forward at the end of August, 2007 (see comments below). The article is written by Gregg Bilson... this seems to be a fake article, and Gregg Bilson is the founder of Independent Studio Services, a company that produces props for the film and television industry - so perhaps a reference to that Gregg Bilson? Also, of interests, there is an email address in a blank space below the article. It looks like marvin.mancia@??? - still working on deciphering the domain, let us know in the comments if you figure it out!
And the book reference is from Chapter 2 of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (thanks Doc Arzt.) Interesting that Christian would read that to Jack.
Seriously??? All that effort expended on two things that meant nothing????? Well I never.
Yeah, I've never been able to track down the source for that comment about the TTLG obituary being canon/non-canon. But if it's erroneous, then there's no contradiction. But this paper definitely came from 8/31/07, whether it's supposed to or not.
sayid'sgirl, it couldn't have been too long after the trial, because Aaron looks about the same age (and they change so much at that stage). As far as your second question, maybe Charlie told him...
I think that I remember reading it on DarkUFO Kyle, but where he got it from I cannot remember. The nerve.
interesting about the obit
Good nite, all.. maven, hope you've got this all figured out for us by morning......
Scar's been found in screencaps from the bathroom
http://bp1.blogger.com/_Hxnvg45zlCw/SBqQTki_uyI/AAAAAAAAA5c/cBDGIp7D9EM/s1600-h/jacks+scar3.jpg
Well I was going to post the words to Jack's bedtime story to see if anyone wanted to track it down. But it looks like Doc Artz has already done that. Thanks memphish.
You're right codysmom it couldn't have been to long. And I like the idea Charlie may have told Hurley.
Back to rewatching the show. And good night to all of those going to bed.
Good stuff, kids! Hittin' the hay.
--prime stash saved--
I'm glad Doc Artz found the Alice reference. I *thought* it sounded familiar from one of our book club books!
Breatfeeding:
1. Claire's milk would stop within a short time of not feeding any more
2. Aaron would learn quickly to take a bottle, sipper cup
3. Sun's milk won't be ready until her after-birth hormones kick in. And the milk of a new mother is different, just for a newborn. It changes as the baby gets older and requires more nutrition.
just fyi
darned typos!!!
breatfeeding=breastfeeding
amused
I didn't know breast milk changed. I know back in the day (way back)if a mother would pass away or if her milk didn't come in they used wet nurses. Women who were breast feeding there own kids. I didn't think it mattered how old the kids were who were breast feeding. Humm interesting.
Ok, just caught up...
I didn't see this mentioned, and I'm going to spoilerize it even though it was in the previews for next week.
I watched the preview in slo-mo, and you can clearly see spoiler and spoiler on the beach.
Dennis
If you go back and look closely you'll notice that your spoilers are clips from earlier in the season.
I think the first episode. Or maybe from TTLG. But I think the first episode of this season.
Too tired to check that out, but thanks :)
LOL!!!!
I just watched the Sawyer / Miles scene with the captions turned on and he called him "Donger", as in Long Duk Dong, from Sixteen Candles.
No more yankie my wankie. The Donger need food.
Awesome :)
OMG re that promo with Horace being dead 12 years!
Great point about the 12 years vs 16 years!
Memphish: Like your take that Aaron should not have left island. Jack has to go back to return him.
Agreed that Jack implied that he is related to Aaron. As an adoptive mother, though, that really hurts telling a mother that their not related to their child! That was very cruel Jack.
Wow- I'm totally confused timeline wise. I guess I won't be if it turns out the obit from TTLG is not canon...but if it is then oh boy.
So Christian took Claire and left Aaron...that is odd to me. Why leave the baby? What in the world does the island want with Claire? (besides breastmilk- haha) I will say that it's impressive to see Sawyer actually acting like a mature responsible adult. Who knew he had it in him?
Well it's late- hope to join in tomorrow sometime.
Love that quote from Alice in Wonderland: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different. But if I'm not the same, the next question is, Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle!"
Jack doesn't seem to know who he is and what he's supposed to do.
Agree that a big question is: Why didn't Smokey do a better job with Keamy's crew? And did they really take the time to bury Karl and Danielle? That was soooo creepy with Miles hearing Alex calling out.
When Miles looked down at Claire and Aaron...didn't he look a lot like Charlie in the hoodie?
Rose asks a great question: Why is Jack sick on the island? Loved her line: "Watch your tongue, Red."
Hurley was very creepy saying that "we're dead. All the O6 are dead." He's seen Charlie more than one time. Seems Jack might believe him a little by watching the bench, hoping he'll appear, although he tells Kate that Hurley is crazy.
Hurley giving Jack Charlie's message: "You're not supposed to raise him, Jack." Harks back to Claire being told that Aaron is not to be raised by another (or an other). But why does Christian take Claire and leave Aaron behind?
When Jack asks Kate if he's good with Aaron: He still has father issues, doubts he'll be a good father.
So now we know basically how and why Sun gets off the island, but not Jin. Also, we know that Sawyer must still be alive, but made a choice to stay on island.
On Kate's refrigerator with all the Aaron drawings: There's a figure scribbled in black crayon. Could that be a child's interpretation of the Smoke Monster?
Wonder what Kate's promise to Sawyer was. Makes sense she would be checking up on Clementine.
That's it for now. Sweet dreams everyone.
Here's a pic of that drawing I mentioned above on Kate's refrigerator.
good morning,
to start i am a sawyer fan so wasnt really thrilled with another jack FF. then when i saw he was with kate i was just plain disappointed.
hurley was a little scarry this episode, i really hope his story ends with him in a good place. but when he said we are all dead all i could do was think of Chuckles.
Miles and the pilot are the only f4 that i like.
and yeah Rose!
So will we not get any flashes for sawyer since he doesnt leave the island?
dennis - good call on the Donger.. i heard it and laughed right away
No more yanky my wanky
Bigdog, I wrote down "Purgatory!" in my notes last night too and thought of Chuckles. Then I wrote "Heaven!" after Hurley suggested that.
I have the same stuffed Shamu as Aaron, but I suppose another 1,000,000 people could say that.
And I agree BigDog that the only F4 on my good list right now are Miles and Frank. Dan is on my fishy list, and Charlotte is still bad. That little smirk after her deal with Jin. Sheesh. She knows that the 815ers will sell each other out to get their own way and plans to use that against them.
There's no OLP this week and that's too bad. I want a list of rules for who the Island lets get sick and who it doesn't. On the sick side we've got all the people who were shot or injured and didn't heal, most notably the Marshal, Boone and Libby plus the people who got sick on the Island and were cured by normal means Ben and Jack. On the healed side we've got Locke, Rose, Sawyer, Mikhail and Naomi. Maybe that's part of why Sawyer chose to stay as well.
I still don't really get why Kate wants to leave so badly. I guess in part it's because Jack wants her to and her own inner nature to run though Aaron ends that.
bigdog said:

I know I was thinking the same thing. Chucklez has to be sitting there screaming purgatory! lol
So do we think the fact that Charlotte speaks Korean in any way links her to Paik?
And why was Jack so insistent that Kate hold the mirror in his surgery? Not a nice way to treat the woman you last kissed. I actually finally really liked Juliet in this episode. She's the first person to stand up to Jack's harebrained ideas, but she did it wisely, playing along until she had the upperhand and could best him.
I have to say, I loved last night when Juliet told Kate about Jack kissing her, and how he was trying to prove something to himself, and as soon as Kate left, Juliet told Jack that she knew he was awake.
Nice way to call him out on it.
The refrig. pic. looks like Shamu to me, considering there was the stuffed one?
The Get Lost guys have their awesome Easter Egg post up which includes audio from the Miles on Danielle and Karl's grave scene. They have it forward, backwards, and cleaned up forward and backwards. You can clearly hear what we heard at the end of Meet Kevin Johnson but they've mixed it so that some is forward and some is backwards.
Did it seem like Sawyer and Claire could hear it too, or only Miles? I can't remember.
memphish - I some info on your inquiry, but it may be considered a spoiler, depanding on how sensitive you are. So, here you go.....

In one of the articles that I spoilerfixed, Damon & Carlton said that we would get an explanation as to who gets healed and why.
Michael Emerson also has a very interesting theory in the interview with aintitcool.com that I spoilerfixed. It sounded like it was based somewhat in fact and that it may come into play this season. I can't find the original interview right now, but if you want me to tell you more, let me know and I'll shoot you an e-mail

End spoilers.

Maybe stealing Alex was his initiation. Remember he told Locke that some of his people weren't ready to commit to the island yet.
Maybe he handed her over to the hostiles. Because I can't understand why the Dharma people wouldn't qestion where Alex came from.
Jack seemed to want to make sure Kate remembered that he came back (whatever that means, back to the real world or back to get her off the island?)and that he saved her. Not Sawyer.

Good qestion about maybe Charlotte working for Paik. It seems alot of people speak different languages. Naomi did. I had thought maybe she worked for Ben because of this. Mikhail seemed to understand her. It also reminds me of Ben in the desert.
I agree with everyone that Kate's secret meetings have something to do with Clemitine.
Do we think Kate has seen anyone like Hurley and Jack?
I wonder what kind of list Dan and Charlotte have. When Dan asks Where do you suppse all the power's coming from? Charlotte says Add that one to the list Dan.
And I have to say I can't stand Miles he's a little worm. Now that things are getting out of hand he changes alliances. Frank is the only one I like. Although I am warming up to Dan. Just can't stand the way he talks. I want to drag the words out of his mouth. :)
Thanks ML! I'll let Damon and Carlton tell me in their own time, but I like knowing whether or not they will tell me.
Good question about Kate Sayid's Girl. Who would she see -- a horse? (Wait that's a what, not a who. :D)
why wouldnt kate have done what sawyer asked before jack proposes? she has been back for some time espicially if the timeline is 2007.
Sayid Girl, you are right miles is a little worm. but if anyone would just talk to him or should i say listen to him instead of trying to kill him every episode he is in they could learn something from him. -he just misunderstood..LOL
so is this the 3rd time claire has been taken into the woods mysteriously?
Bigdog, I'd guess it took Kate this long to find Cassidy and arrange a visit. Realistic? Maybe not, but possible.
If you aren't reading Nikki Stafford's recaps, you should. A couple of interesting things from this this week's:
• Jack walks into the kitchen, steps on Aaron’s Millennium Falcon toy, and says, “Son of a bitch!” the same way Sawyer would have done. Later, when Sawyer tells Miles to stay away from Claire, Miles says, “What are you, her big brother or something??” When, in fact, Jack is her big brother. It was like a sly role reversal of the two.
• Jack is reading from Alice in Wonderland to Aaron. Where Ben is aligned with The Wizard of Oz, Christian Shephard is always paired with the Lewis Carroll books. The first time Jack sees Christian after Christian’s death is in the first full-episode Jack flashback, “White Rabbit.” “Through the Looking Glass” was also a Jack flash. Is Jack in Wonderland? And Ben is in Oz?
Great discussions Locos. Not much to add except that I loved that Charlotte not only took a verbal beating by Rose (Watch your tongue Red) but also Dan putting her in her place. Loved it, loved it, loved it!
Donger... caught the nickname right off the bat and actually laughed out loud.
Doc's up.
I like his theory about Claire.

I actually noticed Jack saying son of a bitch and found it odd he was using Sawyer's favorite saying. When I was rewatching all three seasons on dvd during the hiatus I noticed how often Sawyer says son of a bitch. I thought about counting how many times has he's said it but changed my mind.
memphish, but wouldnt cassidy have reached out to her already. she would know that saywer died on the plane and that kate is one of the famous O6.
I don't know Bigdog. I'd imagine Kate's phone number is unlisted. If I had had a mere week-long encounter with one of the O6 who was running from the law I wouldn't try to contact them.
Fair point. and good read from nikki stafford.
Doc's Millenium Falcon idea is priceless. Ghost Claire? I'm not sure I'm buying it.
I'm just now reading yesterday's Doc Jensen. I have to say I love the Charles Widmore = Captain Magnus Hanso reader theory.
I just have a minute here, but thanks for the links (I have bookmarked Nikki Stafford-I have her books and didn't know about the blog) and here's just a few thoughts:

This reminds me of TLE and the Monster.com Hanso recruitment ad.... (I actually e-mailed to fill a position.. lol). As I remember, some required knowledge of several languages.

I still don't trust Juliet and I don't think (deep down) Jack does totally, either. Seeing as Kate is shoved out of the tent and Bernard is just a dentist... I still think she could have pulled off inserting/removing a Claire-type implant without anyone knowing. I didn't like that Juliet insisted Kate get out of the tent... why? Supposedly to spare her because she knows Kate loves him? I just think this was Juliet's way of getting her out of there (and then lamely (IMO) telling Kate that story of the kiss to make it make sense later. I STILL DON'T TRUST JULIET! While watching I was mad that she didn't listen to Jack and just keep going.... if the pain was unbearable, he would have just passed out anyway. I immediately thought she was up to something..
Interesting. This is the 1 time I did trust Juliet. Besides Bernard was there watching Jack's back. Jack's just a control freak. And since when has he ever been able to trust Kate? She's been lying to him by omission if not commission since the day of the crash and it even continues off Island.
See? That's how good Juliet is at fooling people. She's even got you now, memphish... lol! I STILL DON'T TRUST HER!
About Kate and Cassidy - the way that Kate was talking on the phone last night, I got the impression that she was at least good friends with whomever she was talking to. If it was Cassidy, it would be intersting if they were friends now, and Kate checked in on her regularly.
Since they had met before, Cassidy would have recognized Kate from the news, and may have looked for her, knowing that Sawyer was also on the plane. Or, since Sawyer asked Kate to do him a favor, he may have known where Cassidy was (he at least knew the city she lived in because he set up the bank account for Clementine there).
This was the first time that Jack found out Kate was sneaking off, but it may not have been the first time she went.
Wow those observations by Nikki Stafford are really interesting. I really like the Jack/Sawyer switch thing....does that mean that in a twisted way that Kate really ended up with Sawyer? LOL j/k
I am really wondering what happens in the events leading up to Losties leaving the island. Jack made it sound like Sawyer had a choice of whether to go or not...so how in the world did only 6 choose to go? I figured someone chose them (like Ben).
And Jack's comment on "saving" Kate is really puzzling. What does he end up saving her from? I guess things will get dicey when the "war" breaks out. Sawyer must meet back up with everyone and give charge of Aaron to Kate. That must be how she ends up leaving.
Maven- you remarked how much Miles looked like Charlie in the hoodie- I thought the same thing- I actually thought it was Charlie for a second before they showed Miles' face - I remember thinking "what the heck?!"
And I'm sorry but the tongue lashing that Charlotte got from Rose/Dan/Jin was not enough for me. I wish Jin would break her fingers. LOL My feelings toward Charlotte are somewhat scary.
And I ditto the thoughts on Hurley. It was so hard to see him sitting there with tears in his eyes. Good job Jorge! I'm not one who has to have a happy ending in movies...but these FF's are SOOOOO depressing.
I think that's all I have for now. It's that time to get the kids off to school again.
Jack trusted Kate at the very beginning and it paid off (she fixed his wound in the first ep). If only he could have kept his trust when they got off the island, he wouldn't have gone back to his old ways... guess he didn't learn anything..
Good morning everyone:

I just took this as a shout-out to fans...just another unanswered question! LOL
I, too, found Juliet very trustworthy last night. She seemed to really step up and took charge of the surgery out purely out of doing what is right. Bernard, as a dentist, would have been only good at injecting the lidocaine (something dentists do all the time). Jack wanting Kate to hold the mirror was just a way to get her close to him. But once he got chloroformed, Kate was in the way watching a gross operation.
I think Juliet wanted Kate out because she was a little freaked out and not holding the mirror right. Which made Jack squirm around trying to see into it. Which in turn made it harder for Juliet to do the surgery safely.
