Just marking my place in the top 10...less than 45 minutes to LOST. Getting set up with my popcorn and water, tape is cued and the weather is clear...no problems with satellite tonight...

I am tingling with excitement! (I need to get a life...)

thinbluemime said...

maven, I know. Waiting is no fun. But last week I was so tired at Lost air time, I went to bed before it aired!

Heresy! I know :) But I downloaded the episode the next morning and watched it with a rested mind.

But if there ever was an addictive TV show, Lost is the "crack" of prime time.

LostFanatic said...

Yeah only 11 minutes to go!!! :-)

LockeBox said...

Yay! Top 15 and 7 minutes to go! Hooray for the return of Locke the Bad@ss!

Titanicgirl said...

Hey all!
I can't WAIT for tonight's show!

My mom hates me 'cause I read the spoilers and tell her everything(hehe).

Only a little longer...

Titanicgirl said...

Talk to you guys soon and enjoy the show!

Namaste!

sean said...

lost time. ill see you all in an hour.

LockeBox said...

Here we go!

LostFanatic said...

Boone is looking damn good! :-) (grins)

LockeBox said...

Trippy...

memphish said...

Eddie's wearing a Geronimo Jackson t-shirt. LOL.

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

I am tivoing lost and rewind and paused the creatures face. Is that suppose to bea polar bear or a badger. because it looks like a dang badger to me

LockeBox said...

As a proud Wisconsin Badger, I'd love to say badger, but I think it's supposed to be a polar bear.

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

I live in Madison, so that's why I thought I was a little crazy

LockeBox said...

lol. Mad-town representing tonight.

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

you in Mad-town as well

LockeBox said...

Yep

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

Nice, GO BADGERS.

LockeBox said...

Heck yes!

So, what's the deal with the greenhouse? Locke a pothead or something?

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

That's exactly what I thought. Maybe that's why he was so adamant about Charlie getting off the drugs

memphish said...

Or is he Timothy McVeigh which is apparently Eddie's theory.

LockeBox said...

Maybe he supplied the explosives to Kate. Pro'lly not, though. jk. It's like Locke is Tyler Durden, building an army and making explosives out of household items. Oh, I love that film.

I think it's drugs, though.

Kopson46 said...

someone with tivo, go back to the picnic table, is one of those guys Mr Friendly aka Tom?

Scott.E.Tuhauddy said...

no that's not mr. friendly

Sterling said...

Yes that guy at the picnic table did look familiar.

LockeBox said...

Boo-ya

memphish said...

It's not Mr. Friendly, but boy Locke's little commune is a bit Other-like.

kvonhard said...

I thought the guy in the plaid shirt who was standing up at the commune dinner table was the dude who used to be on Carnivale ... Pickett?

kvonhard said...

It was the thin tiny lips that got me hooked on that one...

kvonhard said...

MIKE! That's the guy's name in the episode...

LockeBox said...

This is completely unrelated to anything, but I was surfing Lostpedia and pulled up Otherville. One of the nicknames is "Lostyria Lane", which gave me a good chuckle.

kvonhard said...

Tee hee... I like that.

LockeBox said...

Let the discussion begin!

kvonhard said...

So, did the electromagnetic implosion make them psychic or something?

sean said...

what was with the deja vu?

kvonhard said...

Desmond told Hurley about the conversation when they were traipsing through the jungle

sean said...

and that polar bear scene in the cave was the funniest.

my first reaction was "oh no! they're being attacked by an animitronic polar bear!"

LockeBox said...

Maybe it gave them extra pages of the script. It let them tap into something, because Locke's visions of Boone and Eko being awake and Desmond's prevision definitely can't just be convenient. Does Desmond being naked have to do with a rebirth image? He's the only one who came out sans clothes. How did they survive if the thing imploded?

sean said...

oh yeah. thanks kvonhard.

kvonhard said...

ok, I've got to get going, can't wait to catch up tomorrow ... hopefully someone will figure out whether Mike is an Other ...

LostinFrogurt said...

Hi everybody! Here's my theory. Desmond talked about Locke's speech, even though he didn't say it yet. I think the fail-safe made a mental connection between the two. Also, when Eko appeared to be talking to Locke, that was the island using Eko to give him 'Furhter Instructions'

sean said...

was benry at the security check at the airport? it looked like him.

FYSB said...

Ok, I'm saying it. That was hands down the worst episode ever. We got NOTHING out of it. Clearly the ABC interns graduated from TLE, got into Charlie's souvenier coke-Madonna stash and decided to write a TV show. Polar bears kidnapping Eko? Give me a break.

LockeBox said...

Sean, he was waving the wand.

sean said...

the implosion may have given desmond special powers. he was the closest to the electromagnetic field than anyone else was.

kvonhard said...

As a last note, I have to say - as a girl, disappointed. I was waiting for Desmond in a thong for a few weeks. Not nearly what I thought it would be brotha...

LostFanatic said...

I hope they are psychic now, as they'll need all the help they can get to rescue jack, sawyer and kate

LockeBox said...

I didn't see anything hidden in Locke's vision, though. I mean, sure there were a bunch of characters and stuff, but nothing that seemed secret, hidden, or revealing. Am I wrong?

Crossfade said...

Any theories on how Desmond knew about Locke's speech?

sean said...

kvonhard said...
As a last note, I have to say - as a girl, disappointed. I was waiting for Desmond in a thong for a few weeks. Not nearly what I thought it would be brotha...

i guess you have to wait for the lost: unrated and uncensored DVD.

LockeBox said...

Lostaways Gone Wild

sean said...

we also dont know what happened between locke and eddie.

btw-wasnt eddie in war of the worlds?

Crossfade said...

I partially agree with FYSB, but the boone visionquest episode was the worst. This episode did seem to be on the same kind of line though.

sean said...

exactly, lockebox.

LostFanatic said...

Sean, you're right, that was Benry at the airport.

sean said...

it wasnt the first time locke had a vision of boone. remember in S!?
locke saw boone right before boone died in a vision.

LostinFrogurt said...

sean - Lost girls gone wild? Claire's preggo boobs?

sean said...

i thought so, lostfanatic.
it seems familiar. i think we have seen him there before.

FYSB said...

Crossfade, I'll give you a tie on the worst two.

LockeBox said...

lol frogurt, but I think we're getting close to crossing a line here.

sean said...

lost gone wild hopefully with kate and shannon.

sean said...

right. admins will have to open up a new thread for lost: uncensored talk.

LostinFrogurt said...

Meh. Then this will cross it. Three words. Hurley. Gone. Wild.

sean said...

ill be back in about 15 minutes. hopefully you will all still be here.

sean said...

LostinFrogurt: that will give me nightmares.

LockeBox said...

frogurt...dude......

LostinFrogurt said...

I'm sorry, you guys, but that was necessary. Besides, Hurley's got boobs. How about this. Dead Lost girls gone wild? The best of Shannon, Libby, and Ana Lucia.

LockeBox said...

lol, is this what we're discussing now? What about how the Hatch guys survived since the thing supposedly imploded.

kenshinfan65 said...

frogurt, lol wow some one needs to go to the mental hospital with hurly! lol
-Tom The Other Guy

Crossfade said...

Maybe Des is living every day over and over again? A possible shout-out to the new soon-to-be-short-lived drama "Daybreak".

kenshinfan65 said...

was eko talking to john near the end eveidence of a second spiritual posetion on the island?

capcom said...

FYSB! If nothing else, we got a nekkid Desmond! After all the shots the guys get, we got something this week for a change.

Anyway, whew, by my VCR's recording count, we only got 36 minutes and a few seconds of show tonight. I fell cheated. Except for the nekkid.........I need to watch that again. :-)

Crossfade said...

I was pretty sure that des would survive the hatch implosion from the beginnings of TLE. I researched the connections between Odysseus and Desmond. Odysseus also survives in an impossible situation. (The whirlpool-monster Charybdis)

kenshinfan65 said...

no way only 36 mins!?!?
fricken abc on johns weed!
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh
thats not nice locke is one of my favs why should jin and sun get more air time?!?!?!?!?!

LockeBox said...

What did Desmond say exactly? I know he said Locke made a speech about going after the kidnapped Lostaways, but he didn't quote Locke or anything, right? Maybe Desmond didn't predict the future, but just assumed something like that happened since Locke seems to be the kind of guy who'd do that anyway? I know it's a bit of a stretch, but Desmond predicting the future seems like a bigger one.

FYSB said...

capcom, you are so right. the shallow randy part of me delighted in nekkid Desmond. it made that hour very worthwhile.

now the tiny little part of me that thinks about plot and story development, is not nearly so satisfied.

kenshinfan65 said...

lock box a streach but could be true u never know with this island

Codysmom said...

My first impression on this epi, I have to agree with fysb.....

LockeBox said...

http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v276/n5683/abs/276064a0.html

A short little blurb about research into a connection between high levels of electromagnetism and extra-sensory phenomena. It looks like this research yielded nothing, but like kenshinfan said, you never know with The Island.

Codysmom said...

That is I agree with fysb: "That was hands down the worst episode ever."

JGZ350 said...

Hey there fysb,
Wow, you are a brave soul, but a truthful one. For the first time since I've been watching Lost, what you said crossed my mind. I need to re-watch the episode again. Maybe it's better the second time around. I was hoping for more screen time for out two new losties. Oh well, welcome to the wonderful world of Lost.

Crossfade said...

This won't be an episode to remember, but the writers will bounce back with a great episode next week. It seems to be about the Others trying to make Kate choose between Jack and Sawyer. (By the previews at the end of tonights episode)

capcom said...

I agree FYSB, because probably half of that 36 minute ep was flashbacks that we could have done without till later, for the most part. I'm tired of learning why Locke is such a dope. OK, so he is, and now he is redeeming himself, yay. I want more island adventure action.

Crossfade said...

Not really so much as a choice though, more of just If she loves Sawyer or not.

sean said...

i dont think it was the worst EVER. remember last season in charle's spisode. the one where he got punched by locke in the end? i trhought that episode was worse.

Crossfade said...

Sawyer seems to have a knack for getting tortured.

LockeBox said...

sean, the "someone's going to hurt Aaron" one? Fire + Water, I think? Yeah, that was kind of down there.

kenshinfan65 said...

omg crossfade that was great its so true!!!!!

Ange said...

Episode no good? Woah! Okay...
1. We finally get to see that they are okay from the hatch implosion.
2. We now know the polar bears are really real and not a hallucination.
3. Locke is communicating with the island again.
4. BOONE!
5. Something is up with Desmond, whether he is seeing the future I don't know, but he knew about that speech, no doubt, and then seemed to try to cover.
6. New people!!!???
I guess I need to watch again, but it was good to see everyone again, and not just Jack, Kate, and Sawyer. Also, for the record I am still with Dark Angel and think Jack is going to join the Others. I feel like it was Jack yelling in the previews, but as I said...need to watch again.

sean said...

lockebox, that was really the "gigli" of lost.

JGZ350 said...

So, we get one throw away episode per season, or what? I was hoping for the plot to be moved forward a little more than it was. If I had to compare the first three eps of this S3 and S2, at this point in time, S2 first three eps where better.

FYSB said...

I am certainly willing to consider other candidates for Worst.Ep.Ever, but if you make a submission, you must prove why it is worse than the faux-priest-kidnapping-polar-bear-who-prefers-human-flesh-to -boarorwhateverthatanimalwas.

Crossfade said...

Sean you're right. Fire+Water right? All three of those episodes, (The visionquest episode, "Fire+Water", and Tonight's "Further Instructions") Seem to have the same flaws: crappy character development flashbacks, other-wordly dreams, and not quite fulfilling endings.

LockeBox said...

lol, hilarious, sean. So, who's J-Lo?

jgz, I think each season's like a semester - we get to drop the lowest scroe.

LockeBox said...

*score. My bad

cyberyang said...

Overall, I enjoyed this episode.

-We now know what happened to the other polar bear.(think back to Sawyer asking Tom how many bears were there.)
-We see the return of our "Man of Faith."
-It was also good to see Boone again.
-The Geronimo Jackson shirt worn by Edward Coulborn.(not sure of spelling)
-We were introduced to the 2 new castaways.
-What's going on with Desmond?

JGZ350 said...

But what if the polar bears are genetically altered and have superior intelligence than your average polar bear, a product of a DI experiment gone wrong. Would that make the Eko abduction a little more fesible?

kenshinfan65 said...

i too loved this episode but come on 36 mins! who cant love locke!?

sean said...

ana-lucia was unfortunately the closest thing we had to j-lo.

Ange said...

jgz- "Polar bears are like the Einsteins of the bear community."

Crossfade said...

Well, our "Man of Faith" seemed to only have faith in the medicinal values of mary-jay-wanna (Pot), In his last life.

kenshinfan65 said...

jgz, and they ate more that one human...u think thats where the others went to be killed or something....did anyone else see the dharma logo shirt in that cave?

JGZ350 said...

36 minutes for a Lost episode is just plain weak. It looks like ABC wants to cash in commerical revenue. I thought the creators, jj, cuse and damon would have a little more say in how long a Lost eps should be. I hope they are not selling out.

FYSB said...

hmmm...jgz350, good question...is eko more tasty to a smart bear because he's philosophical?

Crossfade said...

A liitle bit of an einstein theme: "Einsteins of the bear community", Eureka, CA, and being under the influence and coming across as a genius!

LockeBox said...

Alright, guys, I'm out of here for the night. So, tonight's episode might have been a little disappointing, but just remember we're now that much closer to next week! I'll be back in a few days.

Crossfade said...

kenshin: I saw it too, looked like "The Pearl" logo. Could've been generic tho...

JGZ350 said...

kenshinfan65, yes you are right, I noted the pearl station DI t-shirt. I guess whoever that was from the pearl station, wasn't taking good notes.

sean said...

eddie seemed to be a little young to be a cop. last year, in war of the worlds, he played a 15 year old.

kenshinfan65 said...

lol but they didnt read those notes

JGZ350 said...

ange, yes, I remember that well place line from charlie, but how would he know that? Last time I check, only the others have internet access.

cyberyang said...

I'm really surprised at everyone's reaction to tonight's episode. My only complaint is that it's not a 2 hour show.

LostinFrogurt said...

Hey guys, I missed about 5 minutes of show, due to unavoidable circumstance. Can anyone fill me in on the part right after locke charaded with Charlie? How did he get his voice back?

kenshinfan65 said...

do u think the others would be on this blog?
lol
oh yeah be4 i forget
my english teacher told me that something like this happened in real life back in the 50s with a big DI thing and a wierd island and stuff.....just throughing that out there
i am still yet to check on that

Ange said...

jgz- Nature shows...Charlie watched nature shows...hehehe;)

kenshinfan65 said...

ange - he was also high lol

LostinFrogurt said...

"When I used to get high, I would watch nature shows on the beeb." Beeb. Beeb. Beebeebeeb. The Beebeesee. Lol. Kinda hyper for no reason. I loved the visionquest episode. How we thought shannon was gone for good but then it makes a comeback. Meh.

sean said...

LostinFrogurt, his voice just kinda kame back. locke got out of the tent, and just talked.
i dont even know how he lost his voice in the first place.

JGZ350 said...

Locke got his voice back after he re-emerged from the sweat lounge, after he took some island pyschadelics and had his vision with Boone. Boone said he would speak again when he had something to say.

kenshinfan65 said...

frogurt, we didnt see shannon we saw boone....
I LOVE YOUR PANDA!!!!!!!

sean said...

great. i spelled "came" wrong.

Crossfade said...

Well, nappy time for me. See y'all around.

capcom said...

The preview is looking VERY "Island of Dr. Moreau"-ish, wow! Are they going to turn Sawyer into a polar bear?!

LostinFrogurt said...

sweat lounge??

kenshin I man how Boone found Shannon all bloodied up and dead. Oh, and thanks.

Itty bitty baby! Itty bitty boat! I don't believe it! Habeeb it! TWINKIE HOUSE!

did anyone notice if jack reunited with kate and sawyer from the promos? it looked like they took sawyer to jack's hatch.

Crossfade said...

ok: one more quick comment:
Locke's lost voice is kinda familiar with the biblical story of Zacharias. He disobeyed Gabriel (who had sent a message from God) and was not allowed to speak until what Gabriel told Zacharias was to happen, happened.
Luke 1:5-29 & 57-80

sean said...

how many times has sawyer been tortured on the island. i lost count.

wv: eicorf. I Corf. I cough?

JGZ350 said...

It looks like Ben is tuning up Sawyer pretty good and that some other is about to inject Sawyer with some true serum. It's not looking good for Sawyer.

JGZ350 said...

Four maybe five times Sawyer has been tortured. It looks like Sawyer is the island whipping boy.

sean said...

it seems like sawyer is always getting beat up.

kenshinfan65 said...

wow where is everyone???

capcom said...

Very interesting Crossfade.

I think I'm just upset because we only got approx 18 minutes of island time. I thought we'd get more. Like someone said a while ago, at this rate, in season 5 we'll still be in the first few months on the island.

It was good seeing Boone again, all cleaned up. When I saw his name in the opening creds it was like old times.

Re: Kate's being forced to say she loves Sawyer....it doesn't count if someone forces you to say that you love them. T'will be interesting.

Twinkle said...

Well, haven't seen the episode and broke my promise to not come her until I did. Loved all your observations! Can't wait until I get to see it. We messed up recording it so we're downloading it.

sean said...

im out of here. i like coming here every wednsday night to discuss the show. its fun.

see you soon.

JGZ350 said...

hey capcom, I've been rehashing the episode in my head and it's starting not to be that bad of an episode. Althought there were no big surprises or revelations, 'Further Instructions' does tie a lot of stuff together and allows the story to advance to where we can begin to combine all the island stories together. Next week episode looks to be vintage Lost.

Sayid'sgirl said...

I agree jgz350.
I actually found the episode very entertaining. I was starting to get concerned with myself because for the first 15 or 20 minutes I kept laughing. I mean Locke getting hit with the stick and his and Charlie's onesided conversation and the poetic justice of Boone being his spiritual guide after what he did to him. I liked it, no there wasn't alot of answers but I don't need answers in every episode. I am wondering if Eko will make it or not. I thought near the end he was dead.

miguelon said...

it just me or there is a missing scene on there the one with jack kate and sawyer i was waiting for that that was in the promos!

Hey, Crossfade, I was reminded of that very same story! Great minds think alike!

One correction: Zacharias was made mute by the angel Gabriel because he DISBELIEVED the prophecy, not because he "disobeyed".

Also, Zacharias was a high priest in the Temple of God, and should have known better than to question Gabriel's prophecy. He was punished for NOT DEMONSTRATING FAITH. Sound familiar?

Oddly enough, the prophecy was that Zacharias & Elizabeth, an elderly couple, would give birth to a son. A son named John. (In real life, this son became John the Baptist. In our 'Lost' world, in a convoluted way, we have John the Locke. Lol!)

Sorry...no disrespect intended...

lostfanboy said...

I love Lost. It was a really great episode.

maven said...

Just got finished watching. Have to agree with a lot of you...kinda disappointing. Didn't really learn too much. So Locke feels mega-guilty about not believing Eko. Big surprise! (she says sarcastically)

Some dumb things: So there's this big EMP, a hatch door lands on the beach...Locke, Eko, Desmond, Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley haven't been seen since. Locke comes waltzing in and doesn't draw a curious crowd? Come on! Only Charlie and Clair notice him? A little unbelieveable for me. And Locke doesn't tell anyone that he saw Desmond running through the jungle.

The only interesting thing for me was the deja vu thing with Desmond talking about Locke's speech before he gave it. Hurley's realization was priceless!

So the Polar Bear cave is where DI people have met their death. Was there a logo on that DI knapsack? I didn't notice one. The Tonka dumb truck was an indication that children had been around.

I really didn't get Locke's flashback. When was he supposed to be working on the pot farm? Couldn't really tell if it was before or after the thing with his father. Although he didn't want to talk about his family to Eddie. The Geronimo Jackson t-shirt was a nice touch...interesting that he says it belonged to his father.

Was the episode really only 36 minutes! Come on TPTB, we only have 6 episodes here...fill them up!

Well, at least the spiritual Locke is back.

Next week's previews look way more "Lost-y". Why do they want Kate to say she loves Saywer?

I've read a bit of the comments and have been unable to find anything about this...Did anyone notice at the end of the episode when it shows LOST in blue and says that it comes on Wed. @ 9 that there was a frame of something else that pops up? I'm not sure if it was a digital glitch on my tv or not, and don't want to spend time trying to pause it right on the dot if it's nothing.
Thanks!

Hi, Maven! I finally figured out how to post my kitty Mr. Peanut's pic to my blog. I've been wanting to do it ever since I first saw your adorable kitty!

Not that this has anything to do with Lost...

Friday's_Child said...

Hey, why is my pic so tiny??

maven said...

Thanks, tbm, for that screenshot. I was wondering what that part of the stick said. "Lift up your eyes and look north" John 3:05. Interesting, how, indeed would one do that? Lying down? And what's north?

maven said...

Fridays child: Congrats (took me a long time to figure out how to post an avatar pic, too!) Mr. Peanuts and Pumpkin could be brothers! (Ever notice how most cats in commercials are orange tabbies?) Not that this has anything to fo with LOST!

NightmareMommie said...

So, nobody else noticed it?

maven said...

Hey, nightmaremommie, long time no see.

I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't notice anything unusual.

maven said...

In the airport scene...wonder why Locke saw Desmond as being the pilot flirting with the flight attendents?

NightmareMommie said...

Alright, then I guess it was just something on my tv. It looked like a red line or something. I don't know. Probably just a digital glitch in my stupid digital cable.

Friday's_Child said...

Maven: Mr. Peanut has two brothers, and one of them actually looks exactly like Pumpkin! Ha ha! Good thing my daughter is a computer whiz, or I would never have been able to upload the pic.

Sorry, folks, just ignore us 'cat ladies'. Ha ha!

Back to the topic of Lost: Yes, I too saw the DI Pearl Station logo on the floor of the polar bear's cave. My impression was that it had been drawn in the dirt...by the polar bear??

I need to watch that episode again.

There were sure a lot of mentions of drugs in this episode:
Locke worked on a pot farm
Charlie talking about Locke confronting him about using heroin again
Locke's hallucinagenic paste

Friday's_Child said...

Nightmare mommie,

I just went and replayed that part at the end of the taped show, and watched it four times, and no, I never saw any odd frame pop up.

My digital cable company is flakey too!

maven said...

Wasn't the Pearl Station logo on the knapsack on the cave floor? Then the camera pans to a close-up to a skull with what looks like a broken jaw.

Friday's_Child said...

Maven, you asked, "In the airport scene...wonder why Locke saw Desmond as being the pilot flirting with the flight attendents? "

My impression, upon seeing him strutting with the stews, was of that movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio where he impersonated an airline pilot. The point being that he was a fake and a fraud.

Is a hint being dropped by TPTB that Desmond is a fake? Hmmm...

maven said...

Good point, friday's child. Come to think of it, the stews seemed dressed ala 70's. They didn't look like the stews from Ocean Flight 815. Although, Desmond still had his long hair.

It's getting late for me...will sleep on this and hopefully have new thoughts tomorrow. Night all.

Oh, geez, I just had the strangest thought pop into my head. In previous comments, someone wondered why Desmond was the only one who had his clothes blown off. Someone else mentioned his nudity as being a form of 'rebirth'.

What if Desmond IS a fake Desmond, and is naked as only a newly created (cloned) being would be?

Desmond seemed to be a bit spacey, and how odd that he mentioned Locke's speech before Locke even spoke it.

Naaahh...my imagination's running too wild!

Also, I was puzzled by seeing the hatch as imploded. If it imploded, then WHY was the hatch door (the one marked 'Quarantine') blown clear down to the beach? Obviously, some force blew it outwards, not inwards.

Do any of you guys understand more about the physics of explosions?

Bring back our Research Blog people, quick!

Ya Maven, i believe that was some sort of dharma logo. Maybe thats why the two men in the pearl sation aren't there..haha..I'm curious about Desmond's new ability or old ability..I hope we find out more next week..Night.

'Nighty night, Maven, I'm hittin' the sack too. Clearer heads will prevail in the morning.

G'Night all!

I definitely see desmond as our new Jack and maybe even our new walt. remember what happened when he shook Jack's hand? Jack saved the life of a woman who should have been paralyzed.

"season 5 we'll still be in the first few months on the island. "

I think either sun needs to have a miscarriage, be killed off, or a two year skip ahead needs to happen like on alias.

without one of these scenerios she is set up to be the most boring character ever. The always pregnant korean lady.

Hi Guys,

Haven't seen the episode yet or read the transcript (Just what is on wikipedia), ahame most people were'nt impressed with the episodes.

I like the idea of Desmond being the new Jack. One think that caught my attention was that Eko and the Polar Bear is another incident of black and white we keep seeing in lost.

Anyway catch you all later

Hey all,

I thought this was another good epi. I think they left some stuff out due to time. (maybe someone should cut back on the commercials) Here's some things I thought were interesting. I'm sure I am not the first to mention them:

1. Locke's Vision: Seemed to accurately portray everyone on the island's situation. Claire & Charlie back together, Jack being secured by Benry, Sun & Jin fighting with Sayid, Hurley working for someone (the others), Kate & Sawyer flirting, and Desmond taking care of himself. Seemed to really reflect that Locke messed up and cannot fix anything until he fixed the problems he caused.

2. Locke again is the eternal con. The line about the pysch profile reflecting Locke could be duped was priceless. He seems to fall for every con that's gets thrown at him.

3. Desmond can see the future. That was trippy as hell. For a few minutes I was totally confused until Locke gave his speech. Then my boy Hurley was classic. Just a little deja vu.

PS - Loved the "Dude" line when Locke threw the knife at Hurley's canteen.

4. Shout out to Humboldt County and potheads everywhere. Hilarious that Locke worked on a pot farm for a bunch of hippies. People are all worked up that Eddie was looking for more than pot, but they missed the "fresh out of the academy" photo that said Humboldt County Sherriff.

To drop a little stoner knowledge for those who don't know, Humboldt County is world famous for growing, distributing, supporting, and smoking some of the best pot in the US. Eddie wws definetely on a pot bust, but he under estimated the hippies. (classic non-stoner mistake...hippies are smart) 420 anyone??

5.Disappointing Hurley. I was kind of bumbed Hurley was so mellow about the prisoner situation and that he wasn't going nuts about Michael being a killer, and him & Walt leaving on a boat. Was a bit bummed with my boy.

Anyway, looking forward to comments tonight and tomorrow.

Hi everyone, I am going to watch that episode again, but I agree, it wasn't my favorite either. There is something odd about the fluidity of the show, like missing pieces, or missing time. An example I have is Hurley leaving and going back to the beach. Would he not have gotten there sooner than Locke, Eko, and Charlie? Why didnt he say something to everyone else before Locke did? I mean if Desmond and Hurley came back to the beach.. why wouldnt the other people ask where everyone else was, and why desmond was half naked. This episode has left me very confused. Either it is poor story-line/writing, or something is missing.

It seems to me that TPTB might have had to make up for the lost advertising revenue due to the new format by cramming more commercials in. Also remember that we are getting extended editions of the episode after the season 3 finale.

I agree that it seems Desmond can see things in the future or something. I have been thinking on this, and the clone idea has been thrown out there. However, what if Desmond has always been a bit Calirvoyant, and that fact wasn't shared with us. Maybe he hid it well, or he didn't recognize his ability until the hatch implosion. Maybe he is a bit confused after his ordeal and has inadvertently given up the fact that he has this power (per his trying to cover in his conversation with Hurley). I dunno, I just think that was a really interesting little bit to throw in there.

I like the clone idea in fact I had a big clone theory back in Season 1 but clones and cloning technology has been pretty firmly refuted by TPTB

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!

The American Express Exclusives site has been updated. You can log-in using: Rachel Blake / 888-258-3741

I have uploaded the photos here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lostchibbie/sets/72157594335536093/detail/

The video is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LEadBKmjY8

Here are the questions from the AMEX Exclusives site:

No Game of Charades: Locke mimes to Charlie that he needs to talk to the island. How can an island "talk" to someone? Has Locke been affected by the hatch implosion?
Going on a Vision Quest: Locke builds a sweat lodge and makes Charlie stand guard while he tries to find answers to his questions. What does it all mean?
Old Friend, Old Enemy: Boone appears and invites Locke to come with him to see something. Why does Locke have to be in the wheelchair?
And Baby Makes Three: Locke spots Charlie, Claire and baby Aaron in line at the airport. Boone says they'll be fine - for a little while. What's going to happen to them?
What's in the Bag?: Sun and Jin seem to be arguing as they stand in line at the airport. Is it about the package?
Insecurity Check Point: The man Locke knows as Henry Gale is screening Jack, Kate and Sawyer at a checkpoint. Why can't Locke help Jack, Kate and Sawyer yet?
Clean Up Your Own Mess: Locke reaches the top of a flight of stairs, where he finds Boone and a clue about Mr. Eko. Why is Boone telling Locke to clean up his own mess?
You're Not Safe With Me: Fearing for Charlie, Locke doesn't want Charlie to help him rescue Mr. Eko. Why do bad things happen to people who hang around Locke?
One of My Dad's Old Shirts: Eddie, a hitchhiker Locke picked up, appears to be a fan of Geronimo Jackson. Wasn't there a copy of one of their albums in the hatch?
The Remains of the Hatch: Charlie and Locke at the location of the hatch - or what once was the hatch. What happened to the hatch?
Toys in the Bears' Lair: Locke tracks Mr. Eko to a bears' den, where he discovers a child's yellow toy truck. How did that get there?
A Spy in Their Midst: Eddie turns out to be a member of law enforcement, earning Locke the wrath of his marijuana-growing friends.
Polar Bears and the Pearl Station: In the bear cave, Locke discovers human bones and a familiar logo. Did the bear eat a Pearl Station Dharma employee or two?
Desmond's Deja Vu: A naked Desmond tells Hurley not to worry - Locke's going after Jack, Kate and Sawyer. Is Desmond just confused because of the hatch implosion?
A Hunter or a Farmer?: Under the guise of a hunting trip, Locke confronts Eddie about being set up. Why was Locke chosen as a point of opportunity?

Dennis,

You're on fire lately! Thanks for all the awesome information sharing. I love it.

Wanted to let everyone know that there's a new post up on storiesofthelost.com if you'd like to start a discussion on the intricacies of Locke's character.

when Locke first walked into the polar bear cave was there someone in the cave off to the right against the wall

I am enjoying reading the comments here more than last night's show. oh well...

What did I find most interesting about the episode?

The toy truck in the bear's cave. Yep. For some reason this image sticks out the most for me.

I am wondering why the bears are roaming the island. I am thinking they would rather kill/eat people than wild animals because they were experimented, caged, tortured to some extent by people.

Good morning, all! Work has been killer, so I haven't been able to post here at all. :(

Last night's episode wasn't my favorite - especially Locke's flashbacks. I don't feel like we really learned anything, and it seemed unfinished. There were some great moments, though, including some great quotes. Charlie had some great lines, my favorite being: "Are you taking drugs, John? I only ask because of the strict zero tolerance policy you've enacted. I wouldn't want you to have to start punching yourself in the face."

I re-watched the 2nd season finale a couple of weeks ago, and I was struck by how oddly Charlie acts. I saw it a little bit in this episode as well. At times, he almost seems to have a hidden agenda.

And about Desmond's new powers - I don't think that they are new at all. When he mentions Locke's speech and Hurley asks what speech, it seems like Des would have said, "that speech he made earlier," if he didn't realize that he was having visions. He seemed to jump right in with "oh, I'm just a bit mixed up," like he realized that he had slipped. Although, if Des could always see the future, it would have been helpful if he had forseen the whole incident with Kelvin!

Melissa_Lossa said...

cattygirl - I agree, that Tonka truck was a little disturbing. Maybe we'll find out that the Others have been sacrificing their children to the island. That's why there aren't any in their village.

If Des is Odysseus, then maybe Ben is Agamemnon - he sacrificed his own daughter to ensure smooth sailing to Troy.

Good Morning...afternoon...evening, depending upon where in the world you are...

Did anyone else notice that Eko has carved The Numbers into his scripture stick? If he had those on there before he first arrived at the Swan station, it might explain his apparent reverence for their significance and the station itself.

is it possible that somehow desmond and walt are connected. they both seem to have trippy things happening to them, like wierd powers. Remember at the beginging of season 3 walt had that spanish comic book for the "pictures" on of the pictures was a polar bear mauling a black guy (MR. Eko?) and the cut scene where walt is looking at a bird in a book and then that bird suddenly slams into his appartment window. Somthing is very strange about the two Im just not sure how they are connected yet.

Dark Angel said...

Mmmn I don't think normal bears (polar or otherwise) have the ability to hold a grudge outside Hollywood they are just very efficient seal hunters but then of course these if these are Dharma-Inhanced Super Bears then anything is possible I guess.

engineer27 said...

FYI, the verse that is quoted, "Lift up your eyes..." is from Genesis 13:14 (the reference is also carved into the stick).

The full verse is
The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.

Okay, Top 200 Yay!!!

That was an awesome episode!!! I have been in one of those tents before. My family history has been traced to american indian backrounds and while I was in Mexico there was an Indian/Mayan experience that did. A shaman cleanses your mind body and spirit and let me tell you it gets real hot in those tents and you do begin to see "things".

How is it that Desmond was able to know about Lockes speech?

Thrasher76 said...

Fridays Child had asked earlier about the hatch door that fell from the sky in last seasons finale. I said it then and I still beleive it to be true that the door that fell and stuck in the sand was pulled down from the sky. As if they really are in a "fish bowl" of sorts and the hatch imploding pulled the door off and onto the beach. No one else felt this way as far as I can remeber, but that is just MHO.

Thrasher76 said...

One more thing......Optimus Prime is back!!!! I know you all missed him!!

engineer27 said...

Regarding the Hatch implosion...in order for the large structure to compress down into something that small, all the air inside it would have to be expelled at some point. Depending upon how quicly the collapse occurred, that expulsion could have quite a bit of force behind it, enough to blow the hatch "quarantine" door all the way to the beach. All sorts of other things could have been expelled along with the air -- Locke, Eko, Desmond, Eko's scripture stick, some Apollo bars, etc. My guess is that anything non-ferromagnetic could have been thrown clear. It could be that Desmond's Dharma clothes contain ferromagnetic particles as EM shielding, which would explain why they weren't thrown clear along with him.

engineer27 said...

DA- yes, Dharma-enhanced super-polars.

How else could they survive the tropical climate?

Why would DI experiment with Polar bears instead of some other kind? As Charlie said, "the Einsteins of the Bear community".

Hmmmm. "The Bear Community". Has a ring to it. Blogspot, anyone?
